Sure hope I don’t go to bed tonight depressed again…

  2. poz says:

Can a talented but confused Pens team get over the confusion tonight?

  3. Tim says:

A note on your desire to see Sid and Jordan playing together: Jordan has never been a wing, not only that but he and Sid have never played together. Now is not the time for experiments. Maybe training camp. Why sacrifice what you know for what you don’t?

  4. Chris says:

well that isn’t true because he played wing his rookie year quite a bit

  5. versy86 says:

    Hey Dejan,

Been reading your blogs for a while and I came up with what I think is a great idea for the nhl’s plans of re-alignment.. I posted it on the ESPN website but think your reader’s might also be interested..

    It works something like this,

    TWO conferences east/west
3/4 divisions each depending on things

top 1-8 in each conference make the playoffs based on overall points, current system applies for overtimes and shootouts.

divisions mean nothing for positioning in playoffs except for tiebreaking. They are primarily for scheduling, traveling, and rivalry set-up.

Schedule/travel as appropriate to be fair.

    TIE-breaking procedure for playoff qualification.

    a) If two/more teams from the same division are tied this rule applies and takes precedence over b). Go by the best record against each other. IE. two teams, heads up match. three teams, combine the records against the other two opponents and compare.
ii) if still tied, go by the overall record against other division opponents

    b) i) go by ROW-SOW record split against conference opponents.
ii) if still tied go by winning record including shootouts split against conference opponents

    c) if still tied repeat a against opponents in respective opposite division(defined by league and travel)

    d) if still tied repeat b against opponents in opposite conference

    e) if still tied go by overall goal differential

    f) that’s as far as I got!

Thank you so much for your time!

  6. Eric Bowser says:

I would love to see Staal show he can play left-wing but I don’t think his skills will allow it to happen. He’s not a fast skater and if there’s one thing Sid likes to have at his wings, it is speed in order to get to the forecheck. Another would be an ability to make and accept hard passes, I just don’t think Staal is a good passer and I see many times he’s struggled accepting difficult passes.

  7. Jack says:

Staal is not a fast skater? Better double check on that.
