  3. Bizrow says:

Or, we just might send Jandy after you…

  4. Bizrow says:

    With a toaster ;-)

  5. Eric Bowser says:

Milbury’s comments were over the line and to me, he’s trying to sucker the Penguins into a war of words due to his hate for the organization dating back to 1991 because he couldn’t restrain himself after Ulf Samuelsson demolished Cam Neely during the Eastern Conference playoffs.

As Dejan pointed out, he’s an idiot.

The problem isn’t just Milbury, look at the joke that is Don Cherry and countless others on the national and regional broadcast teams to commentate and analyze the game. The NHL, teams, and broadcast partners have failed to understand, these men are supposed to be ambassadors for the sport.

Instead we’re always talking about the sickening comments by Cherry or Milbury about Europeans or other insults. The wussification of the sport is just another way of saying, they want goon hockey.

Then there’s the Flyers, who are they out of any organization to complain about the Penguins response late in a game with their fourth line? The hit by Vitale was clean and legal.

The Penguins cannot let the Flyers goat them into an off-ice distraction over these last three games in the regular season and playoff series. This is the ONLY way the Flyers can beat the Penguins is by doing or saying anything they can without breaking a law, notice I didn’t say NHL rule.

The rules in the sport are barely enforced by the on-ice officials, so if the Flyers get away with their aggressive conduct to bump Fleury, cross-check/slash the star players, then their game will be enhanced and authorized by the NHL.

Think of that, when NBA has Michael Jordan in the 90s, did you think, oh wow, Jordan can’t play his game. Yet, a David Stern protege (Bettman) has done NOTHING but grossly under utilize or enhance the skills of his star athletes.

Let’s not forget the 92-93 rodeo series by the Islanders, how about the stifling Devils with their clutch-n-grab from the mid-90’s through late 2000’s. Those games are back with Ken Hitchcock in St. Louis and numbers are way down to pre-lockout levels.

So yeah, NHL loves this because they think the idiot’s comments drive their game and sadly before long, guys like Crosby will call it a garage league again.

  6. Bizrow says:

I hope the club is moving on from this

Not good with names, but the Flyer that said, Vitale was there to hurt me?

    Sid is a whiner?

    Where is the BS flag?

  7. Eric Bowser says:

Bizrow – The Flyers game plan was evident in the previous hockey game against the Penguins with post-whistle action to bait the Pens into dumb penalties and it worked. Now, Sunday’s game where the Penguins blow a 2-0 because the Flyers got mad and started to outwork them and special teams blew it.

Unfortunately, the recipe for the Flyers is there and this last regular season game against them may or may not lead to more stupidity.

…. 15 game point streak for Dupuis, 1-0 Penguins after Crosby goal.

  8. Eric Bowser says:

Paul Martin scored a goal, say what? 2-0 Pens

  9. Eric Bowser says:

too much easy ice for the Bruins.

Defensemen and forwards are not managing the puck well enough, too many good chances for Boston, Pens are lucky it is only 2-1 lead and not tied or losing.

  10. Eric Bowser says:

broken record, Pens blow 2-0 lead, now 2-2 game.

    Too many turnovers

  11. Poz says:

I keep waiting for this to change but I continue to see an undisiplined turnover machine. Does not bode well heading into the playoffs.

  12. Eric Bowser says:

Poz – It all started with Crosby’s return with too many changes to the lines, schemes, and attitude. The power-play is out of whack and the breakouts are a mess with long passes that don’t connect, get icing or turnovers for quick scoring chances against.

When the Penguins go north, they cannot be stopped. But lately, they are going to far east and west with their passing and skating, too much cute and not enough smarts.

  13. Poz says:

Eric, you described it accurately, so my question is, why do they continue to do it? The opposition goes down by two goals and yawns…knowing it’s a matter of time before the Pens start coughing up the puck. There were a few more of those blind backward or sideways passes already this period.

  14. Eric Bowser says:

Poz – Well, consider me in a very lonely planet on this one. I think Dan Bylsma does a great job coaching players when it is an “us against the world” situation but the moment he has to deal with a full cupboard of talent, he gets too cute with the lines and schemes. Look no further than the power play scheme to go from a 4-F and 1-D alignment that was really starting to mesh well together without Crosby and was firing pucks on net and controlling the puck to the insanely stupid and highly idiotic decision to play with five forwards.

It is one thing to play five forwards late in a game to tie a game but in the first period against teams who can skate with you and aggressive penalty-killers will kill your point men. Crosby is not a point man, the sooner Dan realizes, the better.

If the Penguins fail to get out of the first round this season, I would seriously consider finding a new head coach. You can’t fail two years in a row in the first round with this kind of money being spent on the roster and the prime years of Crosby and Malkin, after they also failed to beat Montreal in second round the playoffs prior to that.

The heat has to be on Bylsma but no one is talking about, I mean NO ONE.

The schemes, questionable line juggling, etc. look like a desperate coach who doesn’t know how to deal with riches.

    Or I’m just too critical.

  15. Poz says:

I see the same criticisms from people who know the game as do you. So you are not alone. This team, healthy, will be expected to do more than lose in the first round with this talent. I don’t know if two and a half games is enough to turn it around…..

  16. Poz says:

Pens will be sitting in the penalty box very soon.

  17. scapper says:

Laviolette had a point about the Pens bruiser line being out there at that point in the game, but what was his stupid a** doing putting Briere out there at that time? You’re up big with a minute left and you have your skill guy out there against the Pens tough guys, and he gets nailed by a clean check? That’s on you, coach.

  18. Eric Bowser says:

Dangerous hit by Daniel Paille on Matt Niskanen, no need to leave his skates.

Letang has to whip his head back on PP to draw a high-sticking to his shoulder, no need to do that but without it, no penalty probably gets called.

    Neal scores 5on3 PP goal

Now Ference drops gloves and all but forces Neal to fight him but no instigator penalty to Boston…. unreal.

Another PP goal for Pens, 4-2

  19. Poz says:

Didn’t know Neal could throw a punch.

  20. ZEB says:

    From Coastal Carolina……Wilmington, NC

  21. Poz says:

Pens will need to kill penalties in third if they breathe on a Bruin. Two goal lead….with they tighten things up?

  22. Eric Bowser says:

Poz – Let’s hope the team defense gets better in third.

Gotta love Crosby with 2 goals in Boston, the home of the idiot – Mike Milbury.

  23. Poz says:

It would be great if Crosby gets his third. But more important is whether the Pens can close out a game while leading by two. The Bruins are playing for nothing – right?

  24. Eric Bowser says:

Poz – Correct, they are locked into #2 spot.

  25. Bizrow says:

The Pens rise to the challenge

    Thats my two cents anyways

  26. Poz says:

I’m going to wait until this period is over before deciding whether the Pens rose to the challenge.

  27. Eric Bowser says:

Poz – Yeah, I’m waiting till the game horn sounds.

  28. Eric Bowser says:

Very first dump-in by Orpik is the exact reason why this team has struggled lately, really poor effort by him.

  29. Poz says:

Geez, almost gave up another early period goal.

  30. Poz says:

This is horrible…up two goals and giving up breakaways.

  31. Poz says:

Wow – no penalty on the Pens.

  32. Eric Bowser says:

Too many chances for Boston, have to tighten up now.

    Surprised no penalty called

  33. Poz says:

Anybody see Niskanen since he got hit? I saw him head off but didn’t notice him since the period started.

  34. Eric Bowser says:

really late hit on Neal near Pens bench by Chara.

Lucic with hard hit on Letang.

Message sending time by Boston, “shocking”

  35. Poz says:

Way to hang in front Asham!

  36. Poz says:

Hyperextended – don’t want to see that in a game that means nothing to them.

  37. Poz says:

My goodness, can’t this team stop these odd man rushes?

  38. Eric Bowser says:

Too much time left, this team hasn’t learned their lesson with defense.

  39. RobertoForever says:

Milbury was complaining even more on versus between periods about Penguins getting undeserved breaks and ‘faking’

  40. Eric Bowser says:

For one night, I’m glad to have the terrible Root Sports Pittsburgh broadcast.

  41. Poz says:

Unbelieveable – the Pens make even a three goal lead in the third an adventure. I’m not so certain they won’t need another goal the way they give up odd man rushes and turn the puck over.

  42. Poz says:

Another turnover right in front of Johnson.

  43. Eric Bowser says:

How is that not intentional offsides?

  44. scapper says:

Just watched the end of the Sabres comeback. Explain to me again why Ryan Miller has the reputation he does? Five goals in a game this big? What of importance has the guy ever won?

  45. scapper says:

Panthers tie it late!!! Win and the Caps can’t get the third seed. Go Cats!

  46. Poz says:

Vitale got that one right in the side of the face…..

  47. Poz says:

Well, still not great, but of course we take it. Good night all.

  48. Eric Bowser says:

Take the win but that was one bad hockey game by Pens and Bruins.

  49. Leah Backus says:

**waves** Hey, Biz…I’m in Missouri. Looks like I’m the first rep from that state. :-)

  50. Jandy says:

Biz, make sure you get Leah! And I’m fresh out of toasters ;)

  51. Tim says:

Let go of the Milbury thing. You too, Guy Junker. Sid can be nasty and cheap just like every other player in the NHL. Malkin, too. Also, Milbury said, Sid “has punk in him.” Big deal. I’m more concerned with Sid making way too many blind, behind the back passes in front of his own net or on the opponents blue line leading to too many odd man rushes. Sid needs to take his own advice and play smart. Way way way to many odd man rushes. That’s what the Penguins should be talking about, not a radio interview in Philly.
