  1. Happy Mother’s Day! Love the pink bats.

  2. Happy Mother’s Day to all mothers.

  3. Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms.

But we all know that Mothers who are Buccos fans are the best moms of all! #LetsGoBucs

  4. Navarro seems to be taking over an OF spot, thought he would be a utility infielder.

  5. I can’t believe the doghouse Presley is in. I understand that he’s not hitting, but Navarro hasn’t hit either, nor has McLouth. It would be nice to give him playing time, try to boost his trade value for when Starling Marte is ready to come up.

  6. Matmoksik…
They’re facing another left handed pitcher… might want to check those probable starters beforehand… Presley’s not hitting lefties much… if at all.

And he’s played some not-so-good defense at times in left field during this homestand.

  7. Looking at the radar, I wander if they will even get the game in today. Socked in rain all the way to Kentucky and all headed northeast into the Burgh. Will be interesting if they do get it in. Finally, Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms out there.

  8. @DK-
The most phenomenal championship finish I’ve ever seen. Any sport. Man City fans rejoicing like PBC fans will when the Bucs reach the playoffs.

  9. @Naje:

Totally agree. Phenomenal. And my Wigan has avoided relegation as well.

Happy Moms Day, Lets Go Bucs

  11. Was fun to watch Man City and QPR, one of the weirdest games I ever saw.

  12. @Bizrow

I’m from Lincoln Park, which is a neighborhood in Chicago, so…. :)

  13. Walker and Cutch combine for a first inning run

  14. Can they just bat every inning?

    Let’s skip the others.

  15. Wish they could bat every inning

  16. Need a 9th inning Mothet’s Day rally

  17. Lincoln Park, thanks, we got as many signups as the PBC got runs

    Sigh on both accounts….

  18. Walk to Tabby to leadoff 9th

  19. Walker doubles 2 and 3. IW to Cutch. C’mon Pete!

  20. Pedro ties it with SF after good AB

  21. Nat, pinch hitting, K’s on three pitches (looking)

  22. Make that Nate

  23. Presley grounds out 2-3. Extra frames needed.

  24. Two stupid arse moves by Clint Hurdle. Yeah I know both McLouth and Presley have good numbers against Myers, but c’mon, Presley is not clutch at all, and the McLouth numbers are meaningless (as he is a shell of what he was). Now you have virtually zero bench after pinch hitting for Navarro and McGehee. Should of let those dudes hit. Dumb. Dumb.

  25. Now you have Barajas playing first because of the shortened bench. Hurdle, you’re a dope.

  26. Barajas leads off B10 with base hit. Barmes will pinch run. Sac Bunt moves him to 2d.

  27. McKenry grounds out as Barmes moves to third. Tabata up. 90 feet away for win.

  28. Tabata flies out deep to the right field corner. On to the 11th.

  29. I know it will be debated until the end of time (Dec 20, 2012, I believe) but I don’t like the sac bunt. Hope this game does not go too long because I think the Buccos have used all their positional players. Chevy Cruz on to pitch. Barmes playing first base. First time as MLB’er.

  30. Walker played 7 games at first base at AAA in 2010 when he was learning to be a ‘utility infielder’. Harrison never, Barmes never, Alvarez never.

  31. Bob Walk, for some reason, does not like hitters drying their bats under their arms.

  32. Three fly outs for Stros in top of 11. Big guys coming up for PBC in bottom of 11. I’ll be glad to see Houston move to AL. They do nothing for me.

  33. Neil Walker leads off 11 with strikeout. Cmon Cutch, lets end this.

  34. McCutchen strikes out. 2 away. Pedro coming up. Pitching change for Astros. Bringing in LHP.

  35. Wesley Wright pitching for Astros. Situational lefty. Pedro strikes out. Pirate side in 11th struck out. Here comes the 12th.

  36. John,

I take it you’re not spending the day with you mom or mom-in-law.

  37. @Lucky

Just got back from brunch with my wife before I started blogging. Mother in law stayed in Iowa. Kids watching a movie and my wife wanted to read. So, hope folks don’t mind, thought I would live blog the game.

Astros went 1-2-3 in top of 12

  38. JMac! struckout to lead off B12

  39. Presley strikes out. 5 strikeouts in a row for PBC.

  40. RHP Fernando Rodriguez in for HOU. Barmes loops a double. Lets end this now.

  41. John,

Just yanking your proverbial chain. Enjoying it, believe me. MLB Gameday is dull as a Pirate at-bat.

  42. Josh Harrison singles. BUCS WIN!!!!

  43. Nice hits for Barmes and JHay win it in the 12th 3-2. Raise the Jolly Roger!

  44. Three of the biggest hits this year have been by Clint Barmes and Rod Barajas. Barmes homerun against Colorado, Barajas homerun against Washington, and Barmes double with nothing going on and everybody including the batboy striking out.

There they are again one win from .500 in 34 games. The GM has to get a bat. Can’t waste this pitching.

  45. Good for JayHay. He’s a good kid. And good for Barmes.

  46. @John – thx I appreciate it as just got in from from spending time with the wife and lil ones and glad to read the updates and win!

  47. The Bucs are the only team that have not scored 100 runs this year. @twentytwo22 is spot on. It would be a shame to continue to waste this pitching.

I hope there is a DFA in Mclouth’s inbox tomorrow. In fact, I hope he doesn’t get on the jet to Miami. He has been completely ineffective and his AB in the ninth was the worst Pirate AB of the year. Worst than Barajas and the others jumping on the first pitch. Way worse than Presley not taking one for the team. At least, in those AB’s, they were swinging. Mclouth looked at three pitches from a pitcher on the ropes. Horrid. Nice guy. Wish him well. Time to go.

  48. In watching this LAA – Texas game, and how ridiculous Pujols now looks, I would say the president and the general manager have made the worst deal in recent history, when you consider the length of the contract and the money.

This deal is almost as bad as Jimmy Carter giving away the Panama Canal – FOR NOTHING.

  49. BobHawaii

  50. BattlinBucs take another series. Now won 4 of the last 6. I would call that finding a way to win.

Can’t wait for the negative nellies to find a few pimples, lol.

Time to take some on the road. LetsGoBucs

  51. @Bizrow Honolulu

  52. @Bizrow Sarasota FL

  53. Since Neal Huntington’s scouts and computers can’t do the job for this franchise, here’s some help. Go get Anthony Rizzo (Cubs) or Matt Laporta (Indians) to be future 1B and talk to Royals about OF Wil Myers, they could use some pitching.

    Cubs 1B Anthony Rizzo – 1.073 OPS, 11 HR, 34 RBI
    Indians 1B Matt LaPorta – 1.058 OPS, 9 HR, 21 RBI
Royals OF Wil Myers – 1.132 OPS, 11 HR, 27 RBI

  54. Ummm, Eric, I live in LaPorta’s new permanent home.

He’s a quad-A player. Garrett Jones is a better option than LaPorta
