Just was able to see the discussion on the morning blog about trading pitching for hitting. It looks as if we have 7 starting pitchers currently with Justin Wilson close and Cole, Taillon and Heredia coming down the road. A guy like Owens could be traded right now and I would be OK with it. Morton and McDonald have years left before being free agents and Bedard and AJ could definately be of use to a contender if they stay healthy and continue to pitch well.
There are definately a lot more chips to be played then ever before. I guess we will just have to wait and see how they are used to get a bat in return.
20 on the under. Thanks.
@Playoffs, going with 30 on the under, thanks.
Looks like I’m blowing it up….LET’S GO TO VEGAS!!
I have to play this one safe though, tough OVER/UNDER.
Give me 30 on the under.
@Nate
Any suggestions has to who to add though?
We’ve been looking at it and names so far have been:
Kevin Youkalis
Justin Morneau
Todd Helton
Matt LaPorta
Did I miss anyone?
Nate, Ryan and Steve you got it. Good Luck!!
20 on the under
Over is a suckers bet, I know a suciker bet when I see one, I bet on the PBC to win the WS, NL and the over every year in Vegas.
One year the guy selling me the tickets yelled over to his buddy, Hey Norm, this guy is betting on the Bucs, now I’ve seen it all
I hope he’s there when I cash in
Actually, I hope I live long enough to cash one of those in

Hey Biz I had a few other locations that I used to be at…I move quit frequently or temporarily live elsewhere.
Also, the Yuba spot is mine, however its Yuba City. Actually 2 different locations.
Bizrow, you got it, good luck!!
Thanks, will correct to Yuba City
No, its where you are now, although, since we infect those around us with Dejan and love of the Burgh/PBC, once on the list, well the place is infected.
We are like cochroaches, but in a very good way
Infected in a good way, so nuttin comes off.
An askerisk though if you are an Officer of the Law, a Fireman,or serving our country in the military.
Nominations for other heros are most welcome. We sleep well and safe due to those folks
What?? I won in Vegas??
@playoffs
Don’t see the walks coming against Johnson, et al. Lots of hits and some runs, but not the walks.
I’ll take 25 on the under.
#Zoltan
I might fit one of those categories…….
4.5 Walks? Man, give me 50 on the under. This is the only team in the league that has guys that could hit into a Fielder’s Choice while being intentionally walked.
For those that haven’t seen it, yet, here is the Pittsburgh Dad doing “Little League.” Just watched this episode today for the first time, and it is classic, and should get us in more of a mood to watch tonight’s game. Let go Bucs!
Pittsburgh Dad is hiliarious. My old man wasn’t like that, but I did know many that were. If I’m not mistaken, I believe these are filmed in Pleasant Hills, which is where I’m orginally from or at least close too.
From South Baldwin originally, myself @Ryan.
Nice….I’m actually Jefferson Hills, but PH was the stomping grounds of course.
Roberto and JaxBuc, you got it. Good Luck!!
Lebo here, did you guys ever try a Danny’s Hoagie?
One is near South Park, one is near Baldwin High School
If it wasn’t for distance, old age, cholesterol and low carb diet, I’d eat one of those at least once a week.
Still the same taste after 40 some years
@ Playoffs – time to make up some ground tonight….I will take 50 on the under in this one as I too think the bats break out a little tonight!
Correia maybe pitching for his spot in the rotation so here’s to his road success continuing this evening!
Let’s Go Bucs!
I want a Monagahela Monster shirt!!!
@Bizrow, I do remember Danny’s. Only really ate there once, but it was also a long time ago. Good stuff, though.
@Bizrow, forgot to add that I ate at the one on 51 near BHS.
Ryan, am going to KWood with my son, his wonderful wife and my two grandkids late June, if there is still a Monongahela Monster tshirt, what size and where do I send it?
Thats a spin ride in the pond, right? Don’t know if its still there or not
And we go pretty much every year
Not I….
My understanding is its not there anymore, but I have no idea. I can order one from the Pittsburgh Dad website.
I miss Kennywood. My grandmother’s house was right up the hill from it in West Mifflin. Man I miss the Burgh some times….most of the time….not January though.
JRay you got it. Good Luck!!
@Steve
We always went to the one near South Park, the South Park Drive In was beside it, we thought it was so cool, sit there, eat a Danny’s, watch the movie with no sound
Life was very good back then
@Ryan
Well, do you have a Kennywood Sign?
Does anyone on here actually still live in Pittsburgh or is this for all of us that miss it?
@Playoffs:
25 on the under, if you please.
Hope you didn’t have to hock your bicycle after last night.
@Biz, I do the same each year in Vegas. Hopefully, one October soon, I’ll have a very nice steak dinner at Caesars.
I would love a KW sign for the garage….
Anyone remember the “kennywood’s open” saying for when your fly was down? I said that to one of my kid’s the other day and he had no clue what I was talking about…poor kid, so deprived.
One of my first dates with my late wife, she walked into the Mens room near the Caterpillar
She had me right then, she laughed as hard as I did
Send me your address at bisbee1203@verizon.net
A sign will be there by mid July
John, you got it. Good Luck!!
@Ryan, I for one am one that misses the Burgh, but with tons of family still there, I at least live close enough to get back several times a year.
Biz
I’ll send you that email in a few hours, stuck at work right now.
Thank you.
@Steve,
I live on the other side of the country (obviously) and haven’t been back in a couple of years. I too have family still there other than my parents. Hope to be there in a couple of weeks actually.
Biz – although I post, I don’t think I’ve ever checked in….Overbrook neighborhod in the city here. And I LOVE Danny’s. My wife introduced me to it when we started dating 6 years ago, and I’ve been hooked ever since. Best steak hoagie in the burgh, and maybe best italian as well. We go frequently, and while the one in Baldwin is closer, for some reason she insists on going to Bethel Park.
The Mon Monster is gone….been gone for years.
Separate note….Rick Reilly has a column about Michael Phelps as the lead on the mothership’s website right now. DK, I’ll just say this, we are so darn blessed and fortunate to have a scribe like you with your skills in these parts. Not that I’m biased or anything….
I still don’t know why DK hasn’t gone national. I don’t know how any of that works but, I do compare his stuff against the “mainstream” guys and I think it blows those guys out of the water……….along with that football guy at the other paper.
@ryan
Sorry I’m just now responding. I was thinking more along the lines of trading during the the off season to get a hitter. Anyone needing pitching to make a playoff run this year wouldn’t give up a current productive first baseman and good shortstops are hardly ever traded. Unless you are talking about trading one of out minor leaguers for a teams first baseman that is out of it. Then the list you gave is pretty much it plus maybe trumbo if the angles are out of it.
@Ryan, We’ll be going back for the Memorial Day weekend as a friend of my wife’s has her wedding that Sunday. Taking in two games while we are home, too. We are also going to tomorrow’s Bucs vs. gnats game and I will be going solo to the Thursday one as well.
@DK, maybe you might be able to use your sources to find out why the Bucs have all of these holiday games at home this year (i.e. Memorial Day, 4th of July, and Labor Day) and they are not doing any promotions? Nice to see. Just go for the games. I do like the ball caps that they used to give away on those holidays, though.
thanks tmp444
That guarantees at least one run for the PBC tonight
The steak hoagies are good, but I always go with the original, its the aroma
Just like when we talk about where to go to dinner, go with the best
If nobody minds, I’ve added Danny’s as the 171st location for the asylum
Please don’t mention Dejan leaving this city, I have been worried about this since the first time I read his columns, actually at first I didn’t recognize he was a jewel of this city, home grown as it were
@Bizrow
Just wanted to say that the ”Roll Call” you post is one of my favorite things, among many, about this blog.
This is a real pleasant spot
1-0 good guys
Thanks John
I feel bad though, I miss a lot of bloggers
The place is growing every day
There’s our run….thank you, thank you very much!
This start is why you keep Lincoln in the bullpen
Correia makes me nervous…
Time for Cutch to come up big…
And imagine that….
Where is Bob with the wet blanket??
@Steve J Smith
I am just speculating, but I would guess that the reasons the Pirates don’t do promotions on Holidays any more is because they don’t need them.
They had 17 sellouts last year. The Pirates had 37,000 for July 4th on a Monday last year. No need to use the promotions on days you think you will get a good crowd anyway.
Playoffs by 2012, were you referring to the consummate optimist – ME? Probably not!
Most likely someone else, I’m sure.
I have been trying to figure out how to describe this Miami park, and the only thing that pops into my head is, I went to a carnival or an amusement park, and a baseball game broke out.
A bit of a take off on the old axiom, I went to a fight and a hockey game broke out!
@bob
Love it! Probably tough to keep the kids in the seats with their old man at a game like that, lol.
Crap
I kinda like the Marlins ballpark. To paraphrase Dejan, it’s Miami. That city has to have a nutty park.
@Roberto, yeah, I do agree with you. I don’t think they need them anymore. I usually wear my past ball caps on those holidays to represent the US and the Bucs at the same time.
Man, I get home from a Legion meeting and all h-e-double hockey sticks is breaking loose on Correia. Apparently it was 1-1 before the bottom of the inning and now it is 6-1. We need about 7 more people to sign in tonight, or at least have the bats start coming through in the situations they have had.
Bad night on the mound
Game over..
Yup, good tidings
Ryan, don’t forget to tell me via e-mail where to send the KWood sign to
I believe all of the side attractions tend to dilute the purity of the game. As Dennis Miller would usually say, “that’s just my opinion I could be wrong”.
Oh yea..thanks
BOOM
There’s one of those rally killers. WTG Fort!
And it did kill a rally……..Love the Fort……no homo
Oh well…2 runs on 5 singles and a HR
The last seven Pirates hitters went down on 21 pitches. Quality effort there. Walks drawn 7-1 Marlins.
@bob
That made me laugh
Thank you!!
The window calculates dead wrong again, and everyone who plays gets a nice easy lay-up. The window thanks you all for playing, and will see you tomorrow night!!
