  1. Karen22 says:

Can’t wait for FIREWORKS night! We’re ALL IN!!

  2. Bizrow says:

Don’t know quite how I feel about all this retaliation talk, I want the WIN

  3. Drew71 says:

    You guys are crazy.

    You don’t hit batters.

You wing a fast ball directly into their dugout.

  4. Drew71 says:

put a little biz on the ball and letter fly

  5. Dave says:

Found this on the net. Good read on how the Pirates give the teams they’re facing essentially a 6 inning game instead of a regulation 9 inning game when they start Barajas/Barmes

  6. Pig Legs Robinson says:

I will suffer tonight for having canceled my over-priced comcast cable. Never miss it otherwise, but I’d like to see this one.
If nothing else, I hope Greg Brown is on the radio for this one.

They should always have the more enthusiastic announcer on the radio anyway. TV is exciting enough, you don’t need any more excitement. Tim Neverett fits on TV just fine.

  7. patrick(RI) says:

Great artical, Dave! The data speaks loudly. Not entirely convinced about Barajas, but Barmes is worse than I thought.

  8. patrick(RI) says:

“article,” for those who can spell and type.

  9. T.S. says:

Thanks man. Awesome awesome article by @Jim_Krug of
    Right on the friggin’ money.

  10. Bizrow says:

That would be nice Drew, especially if it knocked the toothpick out of Dusty’s mouth

Folks on the radio here are pretty much stressing the first hitter for the Reds eats a fastball.

The way JMac has been pitching, that might happen by accident

The best way to pay back is three or four dingers

    We need the W

  11. Bizrow says:

Steve Blass was on the fan, told a story where Bob Gibson plunked Willie in the ribs after he hit a homer off of him, Murtaugh looked at Blass and nodded, Gibson came up, Blass hit him in the ribs, Gibson put the bat down and just walked to first

Steve called it the “old way of playing”, Gibson took his medicine and it was over

    Lets see what happens tonight

  12. Vince says:

Hey Dejan, if you’re up late in London, the game is on ESPN America.

  13. radio wave says:

What ump is working the plate?
    Who is the chief ?

  14. PetroSteel says:

    They wanted a fight…Lets give them one…

Come on Bucs, the best way to get back at them is with a victory. Tonight is a very important night to show them and everyone that they are not backing down from a fight and that they should have never ticked the Pirates off.

I’m still fired up about it. Totally uncalled for…He could have really been hurt bad.

I get the Blass story and what took place but Cutch didn’t even do much last night.

Let’s see what kinda of fight our Bucoos have in them and what this team is made of!!!

    I like our chances!!!

  15. Playoffs by 2012 says:

  16. Boise Bucco says:

From Deadspin…video of Cutch getting hit last night:

Notice the lack of tipped-cap from Chapman…Leake might as well name that bruise he’s gonna get on his ribs “aroldis” now…

  17. Jay Jax Fl via New Castle says:

Playoffs. 100 on the over. Thanks.

  18. Bizrow says:

    Nice line per usual

    100 on the OVAH

  19. bobhasis says:

Please, 50 on the OVER for tonight

    Thank you

  20. Boise Bucco says:

Playoffs, gonna need to take 100 on the OVER tonight…

haha i’m never gonna dig outta this hole if I keep betting over…oh well. GO BUCS

  21. McG says:

I’ll put 100 on the over

  22. cosmo says:

    @ playoffs

    100 on the over.

you should have listed a second over and under line tonite. How many pitches til a Reds player gets Plunked.

thanks as always and keep em coming.

  23. Drew71 says:

I almost never bet, but I was hoping.

I was hoping for a line about how many of those fragile itsy bitsy reds wrist bones JMac will break tonight.

I’m thinking three and a half works for both lines.

And the half is in play.

  24. JRay3 says:

I understand the best way to get even is to come back and win, however, that said I think the team must show it is united and is not going to let somebody go after their MVP like that. Score some runs in the first and allow J-Mac to do it early and send message back. Game On!

  25. radio wave says:

    At playoffs:
    75 on the over.

  26. Bizrow says:

IMO, I still say, the best way to pay those punks back is to spank the bejeebers out of them on the scoreboard.

    Thanks for the link, Boise

JMac hits the first guy, the umps could toss him

    Just sayin

  27. JRay3 says:

@ Playoffs – I will take 100 on the OVER, have a feeling this will be a wakeup game.

  28. Mlrgenuine says:

    @ Playoffs

A big 100 on the OVER!

    Let’s Go Bucs!

  29. JMB says:

    100 on OVER

If our fellows can’t score tonight, they have no backbone. If they can’t put up a four spot, then we might as well call it a season.

I expect a fired up team.

  30. JHadar says:

    Drew —

Ty Cobb used to hit liners into the other guys dugout duirng BP.

  31. Bizrow says:

Ty Cobb sharpened his spikes with a file and would try to sleep with players wives, he was a cuss and a half

I understand where you folks are coming from, the PBC does need to make a statement

Most important to me is a good start from JMac and a WIN

  32. DemonDachshund says:

    @Playoffs –

    All In.

    100 on the OVER.

  33. Karen22 says:

    100 – OVER.

    DO IT, Buccos!

  34. DemonDachshund says:

My wife got me a Zoltan shirt. It’s going on right now.

    They got this.

  35. Curt says:

    100 on the OVER

I like Neil Walker back at the #2 spot and the Fort behind the plate. Barajas should be playing every fourth and fifth day and McKenry gets the rest of the starts from here on out!

Let’s Go Bucs! Hope we win this one.

  36. Kevin says:

    Playoffs –

Please give me 100 on the OVER for tonight. Thanks!

  37. manny _sanguine says:

    100 on the OVER pls

  38. RobertoForever says:

Thanks again for the hard work. Hope you are enjoyin a beer watching the game tonight.I’d buy ya one if I could.

Let’s go 100 OVER tonight. Thanks

    Lets Go Bucs!

  39. Drew71 says:

we need someone to volunteer to take a practice plunking during JMac’s warm-ups.

    where’s Thunder?

  40. DemonDachshund says:

Should’ve called up someone from AAA to start this game and had JMac ready for after the ejection.

  41. JRay3 says:

    What is going on defensively?

  42. McG says:

So I’m following the game on MLB watching the pitch location, its saying McDonald is hanging some curves…is that what it looks like on tv

  43. The Gunner says:

    Thanks for the help, Ludwick

  44. JRay3 says:

No but he just served a flat fastball over middle of plate after getting the 2 K’s just unreal.

  45. JRay3 says:

No Votto, no Phillips we have to be able to take advantage, hope this team has some fight in it.

  46. The Gunner says:

This offense better damn well wake up!!!

  47. Poz says:

Almost as bad as the Rolen hit is that I have to listen to Reds announcers.

  48. JRay3 says:

    Your new starting catcher….the FORT!

  49. JRay3 says:

@Poz – seriously they are horrible…like nails on a chalkboard.

  50. The Gunner says:

    @ JRay3 – 48

I agree. Worst case, he has to start at least 75% of the time. Also, there’s going to be some type of donnybrook tonight.

  51. JRay3 says:

Enough is enough….I don’t care we have to protect our hitters, just after a HR come on and now the warning?? Bush League

  52. Poz says:

Reds keep plunking batters and the ump warns both benches. And throws Hurdle out!!!

  53. The Gunner says:

Brian Gorman is such a horse’s ass

  54. Boise Bucco says:

I missed the first half-hour…anybody care to give me a quick recap?

  55. The Gunner says:

I guess the Kingfish (aka Dusty Baker) is innocent

  56. JRay3 says:

This umpiring crew is awful MLB should be embarrassed…Clint just went off team needs to respond with play on field now.

  57. Pig Legs Robinson says:

Bob Walk says Leake is the instigator, walking toward J-Hay with his arms up after he hit him.

  58. T.S. says:

What the f&ck is wrong with Brian Gorman? That is unbelievable.

  59. Poz says:

@Gunner…Reds get two in the first on a two out single by Rolen. Fort hits a solo shot. Harrison gets hit. The ump warns both benches because the Reds keep hitting Buccos. Hurdle objects because his pitchers haven’t hit anyone. He gets ejected for having the audacity to mention it.

  60. twentytwo22 says:

This is why you don’t act chicken. They hit McCutchen. McDonald does nothing and still gives up two runs. Leake hits Harrison and the Pirates don’t do anything. Warning issued and now they won’t do anything. The Reds own the Pirates now. Chicken baseball at its worst. Shame on the Pirates’ players.

  61. Naje says:

    Brian Gorman is a chicken@#$T umpire… what a complete joke…

  62. The Gunner says:

    @ T.S. – 58

See post #53 for the answer

  63. Poz says:

My recap should have been @ Boise Bucco. Sorry. was so pis#ed I screwed up.

  64. T.S. says:

Hey 22, I realize it’s a free country and you can speak your mind, but do it on another blog.

  65. T.S. says:

    Love it, bro

  66. DemonDachshund says:

    I put that on JHay.

Leake pitch didn’t appear intentional. Even if it was, you have to know that mouthing off to Leake is going to get the warning issued. You need to do what Cutch did last night and leave it at a glare.

Going to need to take out a knee at 2nd I guess, or run over a catcher.

  67. bobhasis says:

Afterthought; Jhay should have attempted a steal then leveled Cozarts like James Harrison nailed the Browns QB last year.

Then have both teams charge the field, then let’s see what Gorman would have done

  68. Naje says:

Attended plenty of bloodbaths in the ’70’s between these two teams at 3 rivers…

  69. Boise Bucco says:

The time to hit a batter came and went. If they were gonna do something it should’ve been the first inning, if they didn’t do anything then that is that.

I started watching just as CH got tossed, and he had every right to argue, that was a BS call by the umps, Hurdle did what he had to do.

All that can be done now is to score some runs, get out from under the Reds’ cleats. Because until the Bucs put up some crooked numbers, the Reds own them.

  70. Poz says:

The only response now is to beat the Reds. That will trump everything else.

  71. Kevin says:

WHO ARE YOU?? Your posts are ridiculous, ignorant, unwarranted and unwelcome…apparently there are two horses…oh, nevermind. Wish there was a “block” option here…

  72. JRay3 says:

Alex way to start the inning off!

  73. bobhasis says:

That is a bat we need to have, plus the speed

  74. Boise Bucco says:

  75. Bill Born says:

Jose Tabata is playing 2nd base tonight-

    1 for 2 up to .317

  76. Poz says:

I don’t care how, but better get this run in.

  77. Poz says:

    That will work!

  78. Boise Bucco says:

There ya go PRNW, that’ll work

    2-2 Bucs

  79. JMB says:

That must be a typo BB.
    D’arnaud in LF and Tabby @ 2b?

    I can’t believe it.

  80. JRay3 says:

Tied at 2…right back in it do the damage on the field.

@22 – I assume you have managed, played the game at a high level right? I do hold out hope you will post one relevant post before this season ends but will not hold my breath. And FYI the Reds own NOTHING we have won 6 of past 8 in their backyard!

  81. JRay3 says:

@ Bill Born – nice to see Tabby keep this pace up as I believe he can still be a piece to help us this season. D’Arnaud seems to be turning the corner as well which is big as I think many would prefer not to witness much more of Barmes.

  82. Boise Bucco says:

Ok JMac those were two cheapo hits, one out, let’s get outta this inning.

  83. Kevin says:

So much nicer now that I know what the PR means!! Duh….

  84. JHadar says:

    Biz —

Got called away and didn’t see #30 after #29. I don’t use smileys on sites that animate them into icons, nonetheless I didn’t think anyone would take that one seriously.

If that irritated anyone for that matter, please re-read it with an ever so slightly different tone of voice and inflection.

  85. Boise Bucco says:

Hope Searage had some good advice…

  86. JRay3 says:

How many infield hits can one team get?

  87. TJA says:

did someone in cincy pay off the umps? this is crazy.

  88. Boise Bucco says:

When did JMac stop throwing that killer slider he had in the first half of the year? It’s looking like all he’s got is fastball/curveball right now.

  89. JMB says:

  90. JRay3 says:

JHAY that is how you get payback! We can get to Leake no cheapies tonight!

  91. Boise Bucco says:

  92. RobertoForever says:

With no risk of plunking, J-Hay should have take a REALLY slow trot around the bases and thrown his hands up as he ran down to first at Leake, lol.

  93. JRay3 says:

If anything we are seeing a lineup where the C and SS actually provide punch to the lineup.

  94. Boise Bucco says:

JMac needs to know that he has zero leash left…this is a game the Bucs NEED to win. First chance of danger, Resop needs to be rolling in fire extinguisher in-hand.

  95. JRay3 says:

May have to go to the well rested pen early tonight J-Mac looking a little tired.

  96. Boise Bucco says:

  97. bobhasis says:

Your entry @#93 is beautifully true. Like the Prodigal Son(s) have returned, after having been lost.
They just closed two of the huge gaps we had in our offense at 7-8-9

  98. Boise Bucco says:

At risk of sounding like 22, but that inning was a gift. Stubbs could have just stood there with the bat on his shoulders and ended up at first base. He had no business swinging, even check-swinging. One of the strikes was gift-wrapped and bow-tied from the ump and strike-three was right down the middle.

  99. bobhasis says:

Who says Presley can’t hit. We need that dude! And he DOES know how to steal

  100. JRay3 says:

Alex twice tonight has started an inning off, now we need to find a way to get him in…do we test the newcomer Navarro?

  101. Pig Legs Robinson says:

Walker’s next homer will tie Johny Ray for 3rd most homers for a Pirate Second Baseman.

  102. Pig Legs Robinson says:

Obviously, we haven’t had many powerful Second basmen in Pirates History.

  103. Boise Bucco says:

Man, that double play was a killer…we need some of those…

  104. JRay3 says:

@ Pig Legs Robinson – great tidbit, couldn’t ask for a better guy to jump one of my favorites.

  105. The Gunner says:

    @ Bill Born – 75

It also shows Hague is playing SS. Gotta be some type of technical issue. Scabata certainly is not 2B material. I wonder if he has started hustling or if he is still jaking it?

  106. Kevin says:

I will try to speak for the group and say that you most certainly DON’T sound like 22…no one here (except 22) sounds like 22…Speaking the truth is something 22 doesn’t seem to understand.

  107. Boise Bucco says:

I feel bad because sometimes there is some truth to his posts (22) but he needs to reply to people and he needs to post positive stuff too…can’t be all doom and gloom all the time. haha it’s not like we’re dealin’ with the ’09 Bucs here…and even then, we posted positive stuff back then.

  108. JRay3 says:

Nice rip by Jones…lead off double

  109. Pig Legs Robinson says:

Here is a cool irony –

All the talk this winter when we acquired Rod Barajas was that he could finally break the all-time record for home runs in a season by a Pirates Catcher, which is only 16. (I believe). I think Jim Pagliaroni has the record.

Barajas averages 16 homers every year.

Now, it looks like that record will be broken by Michael McKenry!

  110. Boise Bucco says:

Now let’s do something with it!!

  111. DemonDachshund says:

Would make things a lot easier if they’d stop giving Leake an extra strike on every at bat.

That pitch 6 inches outside? That’s a ball.

  112. The Gunner says:

Pedro is overdue for a dinger

  113. Boise Bucco says:

That was probably the most productive strikeout I’ve ever seen…7 or 8 pitches, Leake just didn’t make any mistakes. Good at-bat by McKenry.

  114. JMB says:

    We’ll take it!

  115. The Gunner says:

    Way to go, Duke!!

  116. Boise Bucco says:

Wow, what a break…Pedro K’s, but the ball gets away and he gets to first base.

Runners at 1st and 3rd, 1 out for Travis Snider.

  117. Boise Bucco says:

haha my feed may be behind a little…?

  118. Pig Legs Robinson says:

I wonder if J-Hay’s Mom kicked anybody’s @ss when he got hit with that pitch tonight. She don’t take no crap!

  119. DemonDachshund says:

    That’s an OVER.

  120. Playoffs by 2012 says:

    The OVER wins.

  121. DemonDachshund says:

Was going to suggest a double switch last inning to put Barmes at SS and hitting 9th, but then I realized I’d rather have JMac hit this inning.

  122. bobhasis says:

Pedro is overdue to start playing like he is serious. His swings are boring looking, and bored looking for that matter. Last RBI 7/22, last dinger 7/18 ?

  123. Boise Bucco says:

GREAT inning. Strikeout, 1-pitch flyout, and a nice throw from Jay-Hay at SS. Plus, the pitcher’s spot is due up first next inning.

JMac looks to be done at 6 innings, don’t think he’ll be coming back out for the 7th.

  124. Mike Shigley says:

Re earlier posts on Indianapolis lineup. A couple of minutes ago Gameday corrected itself, and everyone is back in his “normal” position. It wasn’t just D’Arnaud and Tabata out of sync. Everyone was. D’Arnaud is ss and Tabata CF.

  125. Boise Bucco says:

    1. Isn’t Marte terrible against lefty’s?
    2. Isn’t Sanchez great against lefty’s?

    Just wonderin’…

  126. RobertoForever says:

Jones with a great scoop on a bad throw by Harrison. Right after a great hustle play to get a double, that led to the tying run. Great night for Jonesy.

  127. Boise Bucco says:

Wow…Cairo is like 63 years old too and still stole 2nd…that may be something the Bucs need to work on in the off-season.

  128. Reading says:

That was a great play by Harrison. He should be new starting SS.

  129. RobertoForever says:

Wonder when Cutch will get on track being productive again?

His last HR July 17th, his last RBI, July 22nd?

Since Cutch was last productive, Jones has 3 HR’s, 9 RBI, and a 9 game hitting streak. Guess the 101 mph HBP didn’t really awaken the productive part of Cutch.

  130. JRay3 says:

    Hughes is money!

  131. bobhasis says:

If you love Jared Hughes moxie and demeanor, besides his results, raise your hand

  132. Pig Legs Robinson says:

Actually not so for Jones – On that bunt attempt by the batter after Cairo that Jones let go foul, Bob Walk (radio) rightly says if he would have picked it up he would have had a double play, getting the batter and then Cairo in a rundown. An unfortunate example of an inexperienced first baseman. All for naught though, as Hughes gets out of the jam.

I’m a big fan of Garrett Jones though. I’m not dissing him.

  133. TJA says:

i am so not a fan of swinging at the first pitch. come on cutch?!

  134. bobhasis says:

    Boise @#127

They can’t wait until off season – how about Sunday night at PNC

  135. RobertoForever says:

Funny, everyone loved the throw from Harrison, except the radio crew. They said it was a great play to get to the ball, but Jones saved the throw to make the out.

Would love to see the play for myself. Methinks that many are seeing his plays thru Barmes-colored glasses.

  136. Boise Bucco says:

    Way to go Hughes!

I was thinking that when Jones let it go foul, he could’ve picked it up and tagged the runner…Walkie called it though, he didn’t know what was going on behind the play. And there’s a chance he misses the tag, drops the ball…

Also, ROOT, we can use way less Matt Morris highlights, even if they are Home Runs. Thanks!

  137. The Gunner says:

    @ Boise Bucco – 136

I agree with you on the Matt Morris clip – they must have been desperate tonight. Hey, the Fort comes thru again.

    Pedro is way overdue!!!

  138. Pig Legs Robinson says:

Pedro needs to get with Manny Sanguillen and learn how to hit balls that aren’t perfect pitches.

  139. The Gunner says:

Grilled cheese – hold ‘em now

  140. TJA says:

i am starting to really hate the reds…like i did back in 80’s with the mets and the 90’s with the braves..damn..

  141. The Gunner says:

    @ Pig Legs – 138

Sangy could teach El Toro a lot.

  142. Reading says:

Their trade pickup- Broxton- two scoreless against us. Somebody needs to take Chapman deep. Marte. J- Hay. Somebody. Come on Man!!!!

  143. The Gunner says:

    Hold ‘em Hughes!

  144. Boise Bucco says:

Man, did you see how heated Pedro was? Threw his helmet, looked like he wanted to go after the 1st baseman for a second…you can tell he wants to crush a ball, just can’t seem to do it. He’s gonna get ahold of one soon.

  145. Pig Legs Robinson says:

We hated the Reds and the Phillies in the 70’s. But I agree we hated the Mets in the 80’s and the Braves in the 90’s.
We also hate the Brewers and Twitchy in the 2000-teens.

  146. Reading says:

Rolen will probably be injured now.

  147. Keith says:

What’s worse than watching the hated Reds? Watching the Reds’ announcers on MLB absolutely murder the game.

  148. Pig Legs Robinson says:

Boy do those Reds get all the breaks.

  149. JRay3 says:

God I love Hughes…and Thom Brenneman stinks as an announcer

  150. Reading says:

Takes care of that. Thought we might take it up a notch and put a beatdown on them. Guess not. 5 1/2 out now and Wild Card tightening up. Sit down Navarro.

  151. Pig Legs Robinson says:

Hughes don’t take no $hit. I like that guy.

  152. The Gunner says:

    Nice shove, Hughes

  153. T.S. says:

I love the shove by Hughes. But he had no biz fielding that ball. Had a play at home.

  154. T.S. says:

Time for Travis to launch one.

  155. RobertoForever says:

What? No faith in Snider and Harrison against Chapman? Wasn’t it the 7th & 8th hitters who beat him up last time?

  156. TJA says:

    @ Pig Legs

Yes, I know what you are saying about the 70’s. That’s true. But, there was also something special about competing against Sparky Anderson and the “Big Red Machine”. Tonight and last night though, how frustrating.

  157. Boise Bucco says:

    Hughes is awesome.

  158. JRay3 says:

Well here is our chance to get back at Chapman, team has battled all night and didn’t get any offense out of Cutch….time for a bloop and a blast.

I am taking this game too hard and don’t want this to ruin my night…come on Bucs!

  159. McG says:

I am in dayton watching the game and can’t agree more reds announcers = vs hockey announcers…completely useless, and the BS they said after the hbp in the second was unbearable

    Let’s get this one Bucs

  160. Game right there on that horrible play. Good night all. Wake me when the Bucs want to start playing ball again. They had the chance to come out POd tonight and layed an absolute egg. Cutch must have been trying way too hard to kill everything and that is why he didn’t do anything. Umps have been absolutely horrible as well and helped the Reds all night.

  161. TJA says:

don’t let this game, jray, ruin your night. we will regroup after this, however it comes out. this pirates team is too special.

  162. Jared is the ONLY one showing that he wants to fight tonight. Way to go!

  163. Reading says:

Snider may as well not even swing.

  164. The Gunner says:

Is Barmes a relative of Elmer Fudd??

  165. DemonDachshund says:

Really could’ve used one more legitimate MLB bat in the lineup tonight.

    Just sayin’.

  166. TJA says:

The Reds, HAVE, to lose a game, SOMETIME in the next two months! This pace of theirs can’t possibly keep up. We have A.J. going for us tomorrow. That in itself makes me feel a little better.

  167. JMB says:

    We got a chance!

  168. DemonDachshund says:

At least the Braves and Dbacks lost.

Cards picked up a game though.

  169. TJA says:

    single…single…single…come on gaby!!!!

  170. T.S. says:

Why is Harrison chatting with the first and second basemen? This definitely isn’t hockey.

  171. TJA says:

    terrible call, ump!

  172. TJA says:

    crap! 5 1/2 back :(

  173. Kevin says:

Just wanna say there is A LOT of season left…this would have been a good series to win, but there is A LOT of season left and the Reds have to take a dive at some point…they just HAVE to….

  174. TJA says:

thank you, kevin. well said. and true.

  176. Reading says:

Two years in a row, blown out of the water by a team winning like 30 out of 32 games. Unreal. Maybe some millenium that team will be us. Can’t wait to hear the post-game “big talk” from the locker room. Becoming disgruntled.

  177. RobertoForever says:

A loss that stings for sure. But hardly something to get down about. Bucs just lost a 1-run game AT the home ballpark of the division leader. Bucs are 5-6 against the Reds this year. If the Bucs win tomorrow, the series will have resulted in a 1 game loss in the standings.

Still 6 more games vs the Reds – 3 there, 3 at PNC

  178. MadTurk says:

The last 2 nights the umps have not helped with the outside pitch. If calling for one team you need to call it for both.
Cutch is scared of the walls. Have seen it before and again tonight. Never even jumped when all he need was maybe an inch or two. Need to move him to a corner spot and let Marte play center.
The Fort needs to play more
Gotta give Saddro a night game or two off. Tomorrow is a day game so he should be in there.
Besides Hughes the Pirates need to show some attitude.

Although the rant in me wants them to plunk every batter, rip their hearts out and feed it to them. I will settle for the guys playnig decent ball and getting this last game tomorrow, Then when we meet again hit them first, that was terrible tonight. I was waiting for them to hit one of ours because you knew the umps then would warn both benches. We waited to long if we were going to make any kind of a statement.

  179. Bizrow says:

    Hope but expect

Somehow it makes life easier with the PBC

Only 5 1/2 back, its only August 4th

    Hope is a good thing

  180. Jandy says:

Anyone still on? What is up with Cutch? He just seems weird lately.

  181. The Gunner says:

It’s very disappointing to lose 2 in a row in Cincy. What has happened to the Buccos’ swagger? Looks like it has disappeared. They need to come back to life real quick!!

  182. Reading says:

I would say that Cutch is a victim of the post-HR Derby slump, but he just won NL Player of the Month for the second straight month. Still would like to see a multi-run jack from him tomorrow.

  183. Jandy says:

Gunner, yeah, seems our big bats are quiet…our role players are shining tho.

Reading, I hope that’s all it is, but I dunno..he didn’t even try to catch that fly at the wall.

  184. The Gunner says:

I just hope Cutch isn’t POed that the Buc pitchers didn’t really back him up tonight – the 1st Cincy batter should have been hit with a pitch

  185. Reading says:

Yeah, the plays at the wall lately certainly would not qualify for any web gems. Marte last night, Cutch tonight. Not sure what the deal unless they just are not seeing the ball well. It seems like they are in position then they just miss the ball.

  186. Jandy says:

He sure seems distant. I dunno what is up.

  187. Boise Bucco says:

@Reading, makes you realize just how hard those up against the wall plays really are, if Marte and Cutch can miss them in consecutive games. At least, it made me think twice. I get so used to seeing them all the time on Baseball Tonight, seems like they should be automatic sometimes.

  188. Reading says:

No doubt those are tough catches- Marte got a taste of the brick wall in Wrigley too. Seems lately that we aren’t getting the game-saving type catch in the outfield.

  189. Thundercrack says:

    My two cents:

The main focus and priority of the Pirates today: Win The Game.

There will be plenty of opportunities in the future to hit someone.

Now, if the Bucs are up or down by 6 runs or so, then I fully expect a Red to take a pitch right in the hip.
