Looking ahead to first pitch …
Game: Pirates (64-51) vs. Los Angeles Dodgers (63-53)
Time: 7:05 p.m.
Site: PNC Park
TV, radio: Root Sports, 93.7 The Fan
Here is the live box score.
And here is the Pirates’ lineup vs. Los Angeles RHP Chad Billingsley …
- Starling Marte, LF
- Travis Snider, RF
- Andrew McCutchen, CF
- Garrett Jones, 1B
- Neil Walker, 2B
- Pedro Alvarez, 3B
- Rod Barajas, C
- Clint Barmes, SS
- Kevin Correia, RHP

This lineup will invoke some howling. Maybe some mewling, too.
Ehh…it’s not THAT bad lol
I have no problem with it really…………
Barajas is the only one thats even worth questioning. Silly Roberto.
NMR, well, there ARE those who can’t stand Barmes, you know
The howling is Barajas over McHenry!! At this point, this is NUTS! What does he have on Hurdle, eh? There’s no other explanation.
Disgusted in Indiana, PA
say it with me Jandy
#FREEJORDYMERCER
But seriously, who could really be surprised by the lineup? If the non-killer bees do their job on defense (except throwing base stealers out) then they did their job. Any offense they provide is bonus.
But, I would rather see The Fort in there.
Karen, I hear ya, lady. But I guess you have to give him SOME playing time. I do like the Fort better, tho.
#FREEJORDYMERCER
I wont mewl, but Fort should be playing. And Manny Machado would sure look good in that #8 spot.
Today’s OVER / UNDER (always for fun of course)
LINE #1
Total Runs Allowed by Kevin Correia in Tonight’s Game
Line is 3.5
(This is Total Runs Allowed, NOT Total Earned Runs Allowed)
*** MAXIMUM IS 100 (FAKE) UNITS ON ANY SINGLE LINE ***
@JMB
He was my hoping pick as well……..easier to find a decent SS than a dominant pitcher though.
Except for NH of course.
@playoffs
I’m in a slump. And people say the Pirates are starting a collapse.
With that………hmm
Let’s go under for 100 FUs Alex.
Fort got the crap beat out of him last night behind the plate – You bet he deserves a night off in the middle of August after that…fresh is better than frozen and I am betting Fort had a buttload of ice on last night
LINE 1: 100 OVER
But Buccos win
redus, I had forgotten about that, but you’re right. He really took some hard balls to the body last night. Barajas better step it up and fill Fort’s shoes!
@playoffs
100 on the OVER
Thx!
@Jandy
Really need to watch how you say some things sometimes…..lol
@Playoffs
I reluctantly go with my head and wager 100 OVAH
The fort might be getting the day off after taking a few foul balls off the head in last nights game. There were a couple of them that really clocked him good. The two times I really remember him getting hit pretty good was when Walker went to the mound on one pitch and Jones went on the other pitch to give him a few seconds to recover.
@ Ryan – 103 (earlier blog) / last sentence “The pitching needs to step it up.”
Thank you for getting on my bandwagon about the pitching – this is the root of the problem with the Buccos right now. Despite the fact that some of their key players are not contributing offensively as of late, they are still scoring runs. But the difference now is the pitchers are blowing too many leads.
In plain terms, the pitchers appear to be running out of gas. And, the truth is if Victorino was here instead of LA, the results wouldn’t be much different.
Let’s hope for the best tonight – I think Correia will scrap thru and have a good game.
I agree strongly with NMR late on previous thread: (not the early Gabby/Snider stuff)
It’s not that McCutch is being pitched differently so much.
1/ He is missing fastballs—FASTBALLS—he hit in June and July.
2/ He looks to be trying to pull everything. No wonder they pitch him on the outer half! He is so much better when he hits to right and right center!
When you combine McCutch not hitting with authority with Pedro having no HRs, 1 extra base hit, and 2 RBIs in his last 19 games . . . . . . no wonder Bucs are 16-14 in last 30.
Still, all in all, it comes down to the starting pitching, and Bucs have been inconsistent at best, mediocre at most since July 20.
@Gunner
I’m not on any bandwagon…….but its clear that the pitching has lost some steam. THAT, or the other teams have found ways to get to them.
Pitchers get touched up from time to time…….no big deal and I don’t worry about that.
I thought Karstens did a good job last night, from what I was able to see anyways. The bullpen, especially 7-8 guys have been used quit often and could be tiring in this ugly summer heat.
I’m with you on Correia Gunner…I just hope that his tendancy to go down a run or two early doesn’t end up feeling like same ol same old.
How long after the Baltimore series did it take these guys to heat up? This feels exactly like that…If I recall, baltimore was the first team to put up any signifcant amount of runs on the pitching staff.
Cutch is still in HR Derby mode.
100 on the OVER. Hope I’m wrong. Hope if I’m right, we overcome it. Need to at least split this series.
I forgot that the baseball got the best of Fort a few times last night. But Rod really, really needs to step up and SOON. He’s missing a good pennant race.
@Reading
Please tell me you’re joking with #26
Ryan, that was half intentional LOL! My bad…
Here’s a possible future line, over/under 11.5 for number of outs contributed to by Pirates batters 6 through 9 at the plate.
Good way to put it Karen – When the pitching isn’t strong enough to give him credit for calling the game and that violent swing is only producing elevator shaft homers, then he is truly missing a good pennant race.
I think once the arms get figured out, this team need a dose of Tabata. Do it Do it, Tabata and Cola Do it.
Also agree with Groat and NMR on Cutch’s funk. He’s missing 92-93 MPH fastballs that he torched a month ago. AND—he most certainly IS trying to pull everything. Thus, the dinky ground balls to short or GB singles. It’s been glaringly obvious to hubby and moi. C’mon, Cutch—you’re better than this!
And Petey…whoa!
All of my posts are jokes except the ones that might not be.
and my thoughts exactly….#26..you’re joking, right?
@Karen
When you’re looking for offspeed down and away, you tend to miss even the slow 92-93 MPH fastball.
@ Ryan – 24
Whether you are on my bandwagon or not is irrelevant. At least you recognize that pitching is a major problem with the Bucs now.
The Bucs have to win tonight to at least stay 5 games back, we can’t count on the Mets to help us out with Stinkcinnati tonight.
22 noted the other day (before last night’s game) that the Bucs are now 31-15 with PRNW batting 2nd. Just sayin’…
Well, gotta get some heavy paperwork done…maybe catch all you guys (and ladies) later…Go Bucs!
@Reading
Awesome answer.
I realize that he hasn’t been the Cutch of June/July and all, but .289/.377/.422 also isn’t exactly an embarrassment. For 2+ months, he pounded any mistake made. Now he’s just missing.
I have faith that he’ll figure it out.
@Playoffs -
100 on the UNDER please.
Barmse and Correia on back to back night. I’m losing my mind.
I don’t know what all the howling is about. Look on the bright side—neither Barmes or Barajas will be pinch hitting.
Speaking of mewling, Cutch is still hitting .362. Did anyone think he was going to challenge Ted Williams or even George Brett this year? Yeah, he’s not white hot right now, but . . . I expect he’ll pick it up.
Superstition is starting to set in. When the Bucs got to 62 wins I put up a countdown on my white board at work. I did not label it. I simply put up the number 20. When i left work for my long weekend on Thursday I was hoping to come back to dropping the 19 to at least 16 seeing as how one game was against the snakes and 3 others the lowly Padres. Had they been swept by the Padres the count would have been erased. I kept it up one extra day and they lost again. The countdown is now erased. Hopefully the jinx isn’t fully embedded yet.
@Playoffs
Please make mine a wager of 50 shuttlecocks on the OVER. Thanks.
50 on the under. Thanks.
@Playoffs
you slipped that total and not earned runs caveat in there. Pretty sneaky.
Since its total runs and not earned runs, I think I have to go 75 OVER. The defense has been rough, but who will be the 4 for 4 guy tonight? Pedro? Hot Rod? Just hope Cutch, Walker and Marte contribute a little more.
Beat Em Bucs!
@Jandy,
From the earlier thread. Hughes definitely deserved credit for the his aggressiveness in the Cincy series. Love the big man on the mound and his staredowns.
But an 8+ ERA just won’t cute it in August. Hopefully Cruz is the early season version after the DL stint.
@AJS re #43 – Good point, so I’m not going to say BEAT EM BUCS tonight
Lets see if the theory works.
(I will be humming Bucs are going all the way in my head though…)
Playoffs–I go back and forth on this one.
50 on the Over. Have to win tonight with the bats (methinks).
On the Fort getting hit last night, on one of them the Ump immediately went towards the mound, and it looked like it was to give Fort some time. That’s the way I saw it anyway.
@Demon
Thats exactly what I’m sayin’. Sure, Cutch could be doing better. We’ve seen him do it before. But baseball is full of ups and downs. If his downs match that line for the rest of his career, I’ll take him any day.
Seems like Cutch has just been missing squaring the ball up and getting towering pop ups instead. He’s going to start driving the ball again soon.
@ playoffs
Let me have 100 units on the under.
Thanks!
100 on the over, please!
Playoffs
100 on the over….
@Playoffs
100 on the OVER
Playoffs-
100 on the UNDER
Thank you.
playoffs
100 on the UNDER tonight
I guess Hurdle thinks if he keeps running Barajas out there, he will eventually get a hit that means something–at the cost of two hits McHenry might have gotten, damned near every night. I cannot believe this veteran love from a manager who was a veteran player.
Looks like 3 automatic outs at the end of the line-up. As Joe Namath would say, let the “struggggglllling” continue.
I stand corrected. My apologies, Roberto.
At playoffs:
100 on the over
Thanks
Playoffs…….100 on the over, please. Hope I’m wrong.
Playoffs –
100 on the OVER please. Thanks.
Clint Hurdle as now managed 60 months as a manager (not including this month):
His teams have won slightly one third of those months as his record stands at 22-31-7.
Take away the 2007 WS club and his monthly record stands at 16-30-7, his teams having won less that one third.
His second half winning percentage as a manager stands at .452. Again, treating the WS club as an aberration (and what an aberration it is!), the second half winning percentage drops to .428.
To finish with 81 victories (and I know that leaves a can of worms open as far as the streak goes), they would need to play .361 to the finish or 17-30.
That would mean playing well below Hurdle’s statistical history.
playoffs please allow the wagering of 100 talents on the over. Reasoning Kevin can eat some innings even if he does give up some runs, and we need that.
PS, I have never managed in MLB, but Clint has. I like the fort as a backup.
You can’t underestimate the value of TOC (the other clint) on defense. I think a lot of thought has gone into the lineup, and I’m OK with it. Plus, I am at the beach and the regular things that bother me at work are not present, so I am not obsessing over little things. Go Bucs!
Lets get out of the malaise

“Oh, the Bucs are going all the way, all the way, all the way, Oh the Bucs are going all the way, ALL THE WAY THIS YEAR (Can’t finish with Beat Em Bucs0
The song was from 1960 for you younguns
I raise my hand and say “Oooh, oooh, Lets win tonight’s game for Arnold Horshack.”
RIP Ron Palillo.
Horshack was older than I am, but not by much
Crap
Oh, and it would be nice to win as Kershaw goes tomorrow.
Looks like Dejan got back on the “horse’s arse” and is at the yard tonight.
Biz I bet I’m older than you. BTW nothing matter at the beach. Good body surfing today, great waves.
Stuart
Biz, as corroboration, I forgot to say that I remember the O’Brien twins PERSONALLY.
Stuart
100 on the OVER
Whats the standings these days?
And Yuniesky Betancourt was released today.
Could the Pirates take a flier and would we be interested in him?
Let’s Go Bucs!
Curt–standings are at the end of last night’s game thread, if you mean on the fake wagers.
I’ve read Betancourt is a poor clubhouse guy. Don’t know if that is accurate or the result of having to live in what is clearly Frenchie’s clubhouse. He has enough talent that always will make people interested. I think he is signed through this year only.
Just for you Roberto: DFA Barmes and sign Betancourt for the stretch run.
I’d rather see some more Mercer out there before I see Betancourt.
@playoffs
50 on the UNDER pls
thanks
Barmes is hitting .290 in August, .764 OPS.
Playoffs – 100 on the OVER
Victorino and Ethier usually hit Correia extremely well.
Hope I’m wrong.
A storm is coming through. The game will be delayed.
Maybe we should all get on our horses arses.
I can only extend my DVR 2 hours. A lot of rain in the area?
@playoffs – 100 on the over, please
And let’s win one tonight! Go Bucs
AW
Stop filling this blog with stats……nobody wants to see that, especially when it goes against our arguement.
any idea how long of a delay its going to be?
@John
It stopped quickly. Nothing at my house yet. Seems very scattered.
Thanks, Milo.
Playoffs – I haven’t wagered in awhile. Please give me 100 booyahs on the under.
Go Bucs!
The horses arses comment was unrelated to the Barmes’ comment, BTW. It was just an attempted joke based on there being a rain delay and the drive by comment this AM. Sorry if I inadvertently insulted anyone. not intended.
@Playoffs
100 on the over
AW
I don’t think anybody took offense and I know I understood where you were going with it.
+1 Ryan
I thought it was funny, but we don’t have “like” buttons (or avi’s).
Keep em coming Wilver, I can use the laughs.
First pitch at 8:00.
Some of you were talking about your ages earlier, I’m so old I remember when all the games started at 8:00.
Maybe I’m just “misremembering” but didn’t a lot of clubs use to start their games at 8:00. And many started at 7:30.
After that Yahoo story, methinks Bobby V will only last one year in Beantown.
Milo:
I was typing while you made the same thought!
The Pirates played their night games at 8:00 through the 1973 season. They moved to 7:30 in 1974. And 7:00 in 1987.
The local American Legion games here start at 8:00. Old school.
Milo…I seem to remember as a kid games starting at 8:15, not 8:00.
Maybe they wanted to make sure it was completely dark for some reason?
.
Gerry Dawes, where you from? So Biz can add you to the Lunatic Nation
Milo, cut it with the old crap, you’re much to quick with the wit to be THAT old :p
@JohninOshkosh
We can DFA Barmes, but only if we trade for Jamey Carroll.
@Foo
Games are just so much longer than they used to be. It was very unusual for a game to go over 2 and a half hours. I’m talking late 60′s early 70′s.
Roberto:
You like that Carroll kid. You always stay on message. Gotta admire that.
Jamey Carroll looks like a bug.
KC had a nice first inning, just sayin…
and second inning too
Jones is warm right now.
One of these days, Pedro’s going to wake up.
GFJ is just going to hit doubles from now on. TO HECK WITH ALL OTHER CHOICES.
Jones is just raking now.
@Keith
Yes, he’s the one.
Please don’t tell me gain about Gaby’s double play outs sheesh
Milo, I hope I’m alive to see it!
LOL #104
I really hate watching Barajas bat. Such a useless endeavor.
If only the Dodgers had been positioned in the JR shift, Barajas … still hits into a rally-killing DP.
Barajas, however, should get his sitting papers after that. This team can’t afford to rack up the double plays.
At least he doesn’t look like a bug.
Sure making a habit out of walking the 8th hitter.
The team’s handling of the “demotion” of Correia looks masterful to me, in terms of taking follow up steps to keep him “engaged”, as HR people say. Wouldn’t jsurprise me if he tosses a gem tonight. Some of that’s been because they need the spot start, but tonight is more than that. He’s got to be super motivated to strut his starter stuff, and he may be old and wise enough to do so while staying within his capabilities, not overthrowing.
Possibly the dirt in Hurdle’s veins is exactly the right complement to Huntington’s reliance on algorithms. Or not. Playing the game may tell.
Only 1-0 Dodgers…
interesting events today with former MLBPA leader Don Fehr, proposing increased revenue sharing in the NHL. Where was that interest for low revenue teams in MLB for the last 20 years?
I’m thinking Bedard would not have beaten that out.
PLEASE!!! Get Barajas out of the lineup. NOW!! Do you want to win? How can any reasonable person play that guy. He is a rally killer. I could see if his D was vastly better than The Fort. Neither guy can throw out a runner. I just cannot fathom why he is playing. Such an opportunity this year and we are wasting it by playing this absolute joke. We are about to lose our wild card lead and it seems management just does not care. I want to win so bad it hurts. Tired of the losing year after year after year. I’m at a total loss. Please someone explain.
Snider!
Milo, is that your evil twin????
Grrrr!! wth is up with Cutch?
I think I have more RBI than McCutchen over the last month. I know Luis Cruz does. Clint Barmes does.
Too bad it wasn’t a hit and run on Snider’s laser.
And Alvarez with another boo boo
That was a pretty nasty pitch to Cutch, but a 3-run jack would have been greatly appreciated.
The official scorers this year seem to be very forgiving to the fielders. That was an error by Pedro.
what just happened? sheesh
We get 0 respect from the umps.
Everybody wants to treat these guys with kid gloves because they’ve done so well. But this is garbage baseball. Absolute garbage.
you mean to tell me it’s garage league like the NHL?? lol
Kemp ran into Walker twice, while Walker was trying to tag him, and the ball got jarred loose twice. Kemp safe at second.
Playoffs is a genius.
It’s Keystone Cops time again!
KC is doing a fine job…just not getting any help.
And I don’t want to hear about bad luck. There should have been 2 outs & nobody on when Hanley got his lucky hit. And that should be 3 outs right there, with no runs. All our own doing.
Pedro just seems to not care. Always the “oh well” look on his face. He has to make that play. His mind was just not in it.
Reading…yup I followed that…I guess I was more wondering if I was watching little league or MLB. Walker should have pulled a Hughes and knocked Kemp half way to Center Field.
Dear Lord
Where is the rain? A massive storm is coming, rigjt????
Laughable. Thanks for a fun Tuesday night guys.
Correia should have been in the dugout 5 minutes ago.
@Jandy Sorry, thought you might have been on Gamecast or something and would have said “fielder’s choice E-4 squared” or something.
The Over wins. Not that there’s any joy in that.
And all those runs we’re officially “earned.”. Hope Kevin gets a nice contract from someone next year.
How on God’s green earth did Pedro not get an error on that play ?
Reading, no worries
Wow. As much as I appreciate a team with an even keel – your best player gets buzzed under the chin (AGAIN) and you get hosed twice on one play by the same ump (pretty much because you’re the Pirates and they’re the Dodgers) and yet, you stay calm. Yeah, John Russell-like calm. So calm it looks pulse-less. Does anyone on this team have the ability to show fire on the field aside from at the end of the game (aside from Grilli)?
Gray area alert! You may be seeing black and white in a world of shades of gray.
Really hoping what I just posted has reason to be deleted SOON.
are you kidding me???
diehard…HUGHES showed fire…where is he now??
As I watched that last inning, all I could think of were some old Gordon Lightfoot lyrics…..
“At seven P.M. a main hatchway caved in; he said,
Fellas, it’s been good to know ya!”
I hate to say it, and I’ve tried to stay as positive as possible, but I fear the writing is on the wall. Break .500, thats all I’m asking for.
Er, if there’s a collision at the plate and the catcher drops the ball, the runner is safe.
Walker dropped the ball when Kemp ran into him. His throwing hand was on Kemp’s chest, so you can’t argue that he was trying to shift hands and it slipped out. He never held the ball after applying the tag.
Safe was the correct call.
I’m blacked out tonight & tomorrow due to wacky KCAL/Directv/MLBEI rules/issues, but I can’t believe that it is so bad that Playoffs is now “.506 by 2012.”
Must be ugly!
I have visions of last year (a nightmare, that is). Pitching has not been good, fielding has been terrible, hitting has been inconsistent (LOB’s galore).
JMB, the stupid crap is unbelievable.
Someone asked me why I feared a collapse. Because I have 2 eyes & a brain ?
DK said there would be no Collapse this year.
The Pirates went on to lose their final 48.
KC on base yet again…pay attention boys!
Maybe we should swing at the 1st pitch more often down by 4 runs.
Playoffs:
You can’t live in Wisconsin and not appreciate an Edmund Fitzgerald reference. A lot of that doomed crew were from the Badger state.
,500, please.
@John, a sad tragedy no doubt, and I’m in no way making light of it. Just seems like the Pirates are on a slowly sinking ship here.
Was there any mention at the team’s pre-series meetings that the Pirates had, you know, more wins than the mighty Dodgers?
@playoffs
Oh I know what you were saying. I wish I didn’t, but I have that feeling too.
Guys.

Preach it, Brother Drew!
Excuse me while I top off my martini and adjust my fedora as this number goes out to the Pirates:
Some day, when I’m awfully low,
When the world is cold,
I will feel a glow just thinking of you
And the way you look tonight.
It’s not a collapse…but they certainly seem to be sliding in that direction…sheesh.
That was quality hustle by Snider on that routine grounder.
OshKosh, you wanna share those martinis????
This is a joke. At least show a little emotion that you are getting your tails whipped. Get mad, get angry. Show us fans that you care. Embarrassing!
That was beautiful, man.
~sniff~
Beautiful.
The Michael McDonald commercial is sure to have a Renegade-type effect.
Embarrassingly lame performance in front of Arnie.
Yes you’re lovely, with you smile so warm.
And your cheeks so soft,
there is nothing for me but to love you.
And the way you look tonight.
Drew, you need a hankie, man?
No use in waiting til this one ends. The OVER wins tonight. Gentlemen and ladie(s), I’m gonna go catch up on some sleep. See you tomorrow.

You guys remember this ?
Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome to the stage tonight to join me, Mr. Milo Hamilton,
Or is it Sammy?
The 1971 Pirates lost the first two games to Baltimore, but then these aren’t the 1971 Pirates (or the 1927 Yankees).
does anyone know what Joe Tucker used to say?
Play it again, Sam!
Jandy
Nice try, but no cigar. Do you know who Joe Tucker is?
Awesome find, Milo.
Pool player?
haha Gunner, I was being facetious
The only infielder I see playing a respectable game is Elmer Fudd.
Joe Tucker was the Steelers announcer before Jack Fleming.
Milo, ok…and Gunner…so, what did he say? It ain’t over till the fat lady sings???
DearPiratesFanAdvisor
so, how old is Locke? He looks like he’s about 16
@Jandy
I don’t get to say this very often, but that was before my time.
nice steal
LOL Milo, I bet that makes you feel better !!
so Gunner, spill it dude
Here’s one I just don’t understand. Since the Pirates have exceeded expectations to this point, that makes this somehow acceptable. Scratching my head on that one.
Actually, they make me so angry I could spit nails.
@ Jandy
Milo is correct, he was the voice of the Steelers from 1933 thru 1967. The Steelers never did very well in those days. Joe really wore this one out because every year he would say, “Wait till next year.”
Unfortunately, that is the way it is looking for our Buccos.
25 years from now, someone will post a You Tube (or whatever it will be then) clip of the great Martin Scorsese schilling for Apple with a “Remember this?”
Andrew really needs a day off.
Gunner…very fitting…but I’m not ready to give up on these guys….just yet….more ready to choke them, tho.
He needs something!
Is it just my imagination or did Cutch’s slump start when he got the chin music and we didn’t retaliate?
Just sayin.
PS I remember Tucker, but the Steelers weren’t the story in those days. I watched them play a couple of times in Pitt Stadium back in the day.

*shilling*
@ Jandy
I hope I am wrong but I just don’t like what I see. Outside of AJ, the starting pitching is below average and overall, they look very lethargic, like they need a huge kick in the backside.
Let’s hope they come alive tomorrow.
Jugdish Clayton will be easy pickings tomorrow.
I’d be more than willing to volunteer to do the azz whooping
What has happened to Lincoln?
Maybe Qualls should buzz Kemp ;X
Please fill the bases in the ninth of a 6-0 game for Matt Kemp. Thank you.
When do they play the Cubs and Astros again?
wow…this is just brutal
The Astros have put a 10 spot up on the Cubbies tonight.
@ Jandy
Someone better do it quickly because Stinkcinnati won again tonight. You have the azz whoopin honors, Jandy.
wow…these guys look worse than little leaguers
Buttermaker had better get control of this quickly.
Gunner, it’s only 2 hours from here to DaBurgh!
A video for the ESPN fielding fundamentals series right there.
Oy! They never should have taken the tarp off the field.
I stopped watching after THAT inning…you know the one…where the ball left the infield once and the OVER won in an eyeblink…just reading the comments tell me all I need to know about the rest of the story.
Come to think of it, both of those clubs are filled with hungry young players wanting to make an impression for next season. Nothing is easy.
Well that’s a few hours I’ll never get back. Good Night. As always, enjoyed the company.
@ Milo
Buttermaker??
Unless the Reds are the 1964 Phils, I think we can declare ballgame on the division. Hello one-game playoff. May as well be the Braves. Need to exorcise that demon once and for all.
@Gunner
Bad News Bears reference.
I think I’m goin to bed now…this is really, really sad.
Sounds like Steve Blass is really upset over this game. Good thing the Gunner isn’t doing the game tonight. His whining would be unbelievable, ha ha!!
@stuart #209 – Yes, it did. And almost every game since has seen at least one high and tight pitch to him.
12 in the 9th is eminently doable.
Really don’t think the Buccos will have to deal with a one game playoff. If it were hockey, I’d say they’d be able to line up tee times right away. What is that for baseball, bowling?
Man, good one to miss…haha looking at the box score, they scored all 11 runs on only one extra base hit…that’s kinda hard to do.
Fitting end there. Maybe I’ll read “The Emperor’s New Clothes” tonight while convincing myself the “collapse” is not at hand.
Diehard, problem is how do you get that one back? There was a lot of talk a while ago about how “resilient” this team is. Not seein that right now.
Stuart
Info note: Mark Madden was at this game. Should be noted that I blame the result of this game entirely on him, because he will blame this entirely on something equally as blame-worthy.
Just finished watching the game from my DVR……one giant pile of dogcrap…..
