Vegas has the Panthers as 5 point dogs? They just got schooled by a FCS team. If they can keep this game to within 5 points, I will be somewhat impressed with Chryst’s ability to make adjustments as I think Cincy will win this one easily.
I’m suspecting PITT loses by at least two touchdowns based on last week’s embarrassing loss to Youngstown State University (YSU) Penguins. Maybe I would feel better if it was Iowa State but losing to the Penguins is about as low as you can go for a school eligible to qualify for BCS Bowl.
Paul Zeise of the PG has a somewhat different view of the loss last week, and the ability to recover from it. More positive than I’ve seen elsewhere.
AW:
What is this “PG” thing you speak of?
all I ask is to keep this game competitive for at least the first half.. I’m conditioned as a PITT fan to see the team lose in second half. lol
first pass attempt, Tino almost throws INT.
Looks like a fun venue to watch a game. Never been.
One thing I noticed last week was that the sideline was very slow at times getting the play call in. That’s on the coaches.
Was that on the coaches, Milo?
Well, Sunseri dumps off a 3rd and 14 (broken record), punt, first play from scrimmage is a LONG rushing TD for Cincy.
Yeah, this is going to be another ugly season.
@Oshkosh
I got nothing.
Pitt has the worst collection of LBs for the last two or three years, embarrassingly bad.
Sunseri must feel all alone out there. No protection whatsoever.
same problems as last year, Sunseri can’t feel pressure, too slow of a release, offensive line can’t pass protect.
PItt’s defense has the speed of a high school team…. this is bad.
@Eric
I’ve seen faster high school defenses. And I’m not kidding.
Shell Alert! First college carry: 12 yards
OK, Paul didn’t know what he was talking about.
. Anybody watching the US Open?
@Milo – I have too, I covered 1 season of high school football as a stringer in Armstrong County… I think West Shamokin was faster than this team
@Eric
Not the fighting Wolves.
AW:
If it gets any worse I may have to go downstairs and watch the convention with my political wonk wife.
PS This is not a political post!
@Milo – One game I covered for them, it was great, standing in pouring rain to interview their head coach and having to listen to him whine about our newspaper (Kittanning’s Leader-Times) making fun of his team for being losers and they pulled out a shocker beating Clarion by a few points and he’s pointing to the scoreboard in the rain.
Hey look, Devin Street is open and Sunseri can’t make throw.
get the play in, huddle and break…. football 101 for crying out loud… geezus
3rd and 18, experienced QB, and you call that… yeah, many areas need fixed but QB is a big problem when you can’t even throw the ball further than 15 yards.
Watching this game with a friend that played for an SEC school in the early 90′s. He says Sunseri’s footwork is terrible. Unfortunately, I’m not smart enough to have an opinion about this either way. Just repeating an observation from a friend who’s football smarts I respect.
seriously… delay of game on 3rd and 3….
@pattonbb – I said this last year, for all the talk about Sunseri being a QB for most of his career, he has terrible footwork, a very slow release, and absolutely no awareness in the pocket, which is magnified by the footwork to slide step quickly to avoid rush or step into pocket to make a throw. He lacks the arm strength to make throws further than 15 yards down the field and just forget about anything to the outside of the numbers further than 5 yards beyond line of scrimmage.
Holding ?
That was a typical Tino throw….
@Milo – That was a weak holding call but you have to overcome it and got nothing on their two runs and that throw….ick.
That’s the 1st sack of the season. Maybe someday they’ll force a turnover.
Sunseri can’t throw the fade, yet this is all PITT thinks he can do is throw it.
Horrible clock management, terrible play calls.
Tino really sucks…
Chryst will obviously will be giving that timeout away as a Christmas present.
Tino Sunseri is the worst QB in Pitt history.
The worst.
Chryst went to school this spring and summer, took “Tomlin Clock Management 101″.
The talent level on this team is horrible. What was Wannstedt thinking about recruiting some of these kids. And, why quote Paul Zeise on Pitt–he smokes Pirate kool aid and transfers it to Pitt. Typical Pittsburgh beat writer that has no guts to criticize a bad football team.
This is NOT Chryst’s fault. It is going to take him four years to get decent recruits to commit to a program this bad. HOW DID THIS HAPPEN???
Steve Pederson is the one permanent fixture in this mess.
The issue with Chryst tonight, he needs to put players into a position to succeed and those playcalls inside the ten were not it and leaving a timeout on the board is something he can’t repeat again.
Not giving up on him as a coach, teacher, and recruiter but he’s having just as bad of a night as Sunseri.
seriously, another bad play call and huddle by Chryst and Sunseri.
This shouldn’t be happening in game two.
OK. Let’s see how they don’t score here.
@Milo – I’m calling another INT
almost threw INT
and that about does it.
Oh well, the Montour – Central Valley game didn’t disappoint.
Steve Pederson deserves ALL the blame for this mess. He decided he needed to fix what wasn’t broken (that’s an arguable point, I admit), then picked the wrong guy twice. Maybe three times for all we know. His track record at hiring football coaches isn’t exactly stellar.
West Palm Beach, Florida
Couldn’t agree more with the Pederson assessment. He needs to be gone – just like Nebraska realized in short order.
Hi All.
U-G-L-Y and I didn’t even watch the debacle…
I’ll be at the Richmond Spiders v. Gardner-Webb game Saturday night, so I’ll be more than willing to providing a scouting report on the Runnin’ Bulldogs for everybody back in the ‘Burgh. The Pitt game should be a barn burner for sure!
Night all.
R.
DK: Holding you to that!
florida steeler—no offense, but to say Zeise drinks the Pirate Koolaid demonstrates a distinct lack of knowledge on the subject. He’s trashed them for years on the KDKA Showdown. But dont let facts get in the way of a good rant.
