Looking ahead to tipoff …
Game: Pitt (17-4, 5-3 Big East) vs. No. 12 Louisville (16-4, 4-3)
Time: 7:02 p.m.
Site: KFC Yum! Center, Louisville, Ky.
TV, radio: ESPN, 93.7 The Fan
Here is Pitt’s official page.
And here is the Trib’s Pitt basketball page. Kevin Gorman is on the scene.

I will watch, hoping otherwise . . . .
. . . . . but I think the Panthers are in for a whooping tonight in LouieCK–ville.
Groat
You honestly are a much better version of Chris Berman. With your alternative names. I enjoy them a lot.
Looking forward to seeing how Steve Adams performs against the Cards 6-11 center Gorgui Dieng ; it won’t get any easier in the NBA…….
Louisville is 12/13 in new ranks. Don’t know if you anyone cares.
Serious question: Is there a basketball arena in the nation with a more STUPID name than the KFC YUM! Center?
I was thinking the same thing. Hope they canned the marketing firm that came up with that one.
The Avron B. Fogelman Arena in New Orleans is always a mouthful to get out.
Read that Louisville is without both Wayne Blackshear a starter and Kevin Ware. Blackshear averages 22 mpg and is the Cardinals 4th leading scorer. Ware averages 15.8 mpg and 4 points a game.
Pitino will have some more juggling to do tonight. If Pitt can handle the press and get the ball past half court and limit turnovers this game should go down to the wire.
At least the ghame has a reasonable tip time, WVU gets thumped by Kansas tonight with a 9pm tip in Morgantown.
I wonder how WV feels about the Big 12 now that they have had a football season and are seeing the impact deep into the basketball season.
Big East had double headers with 7 and 9 tip also…..Pitt had a few of those at home. Imagine WVU did too.
It’s all TV on the 9 pm games
Yep
Just play a good solid game, Pitt

Very solid college buckets double header with Pitt/Louisville and Kansas/WVU. Probably would have been better for the Panthers if the Cardinals were not coming off a loss.
Not scoring 90 tonight. Brick/airball city.
Well Pitt is doing a nice job of breaking the press but three turnovers on fast breaks that could have led to easy points if turnover not committed. Louisville getting too many easy baskets early. Can’t play sloppy against this team.
Team needs to settle down on defensive end. Have to win last seven minutes and keep game within striking distance.
Pitt can’t handle the pressure… again.
I enjoy watching Pitt slow the ball down…. then turn it over.
Woodall… is playing more like Ashton Gibbs than Brandon Knight
So far not so yummy at the Yum Center.
ESPN hires too many Dukies for its college coverage.
Yeah, you heard me right, Groat!
Turnovers, turnovers, turnovers… feel like I’m talking about a hockey game
PITT cuts it to six at half. 32-26. Not too shabby with all the Panther turnovers in the first half.
Not bad considering, cut 12 point deficit to 6 at the half. Pitt leads on the boards 18-16. Pitt shooting 46% from the field, Louisville 41%. Ten turnovers and 1-6 fromthe FT line the achilles herl in first 20 minutes.
Need to defend Smith better he has been the on guy on Cardinals squad to hurt Panthers with 13 points.
Robinson sat most of half with two fouls getting extra ball handler back on floor ahould help in second half.
Adams is just a young player. Pretty graceful for a guy his size on the way to the basket, but you got to knock some FTs down. If other teams have fouls to give, he can bet he’s going to the line…Its exciting watching the guy though. I thought Birch disappeared the couple of times I saw him at the Pete last year. Adams looks like a guy who will get better. Id like to think if he gets a better shot, NBA people will be very interested, but thats usually the story with all big men.
Headed to the Gym to catch the rest of it. Gotta knockem down at the stripe, fellas.
Can we miss a few more layups?
Dunk the ball!!!! Nobody can put a layup or two foot shot in the basket!
Have to up strong….so many missed opportunities.
Inability to make any kind of shot is becoming laughable.
Press them. Make them work to bring the ball up court. They’re pressing us all over the place. We let them waltz up the court.
Pitt with only two turnovers in second half and has not allowed Louisville to pull away. If only we would have finished some of those layups and made some FT’s. Whatever happens good learning lesson in January road game against top team that will hopefully help come March.
Well no shame in losing to who many believe is a National Title contender on the road. Have lost to # 1 Michigan and fomer # 1 Louisville by total of 8 points.
Big chance to have a statement game and resume builder on Saturday at the Pete against a Syracuse team the Panthers have played very well against recently.
Too many “gimme” points left on the floor. The W was there for the taking.
Yep they will look at this one and place it in the woulda, coulda, shoulda column. For a relatively young team they showed a lot of fight and no quit.
Regroup and move on only at the half way point of the Big East season.
FREE THROWS:
Pitt 3-12 .250
L’ville 13-17 .765
Not the only reason Panthers lose…but a BIG reason they fall 3 points short.
Every year…they always have a fistfull of games where their horrible FT shooting does them in ….
Woodall couldn’t sink the front end of a 1 and 1 near the end but hits two bombs.
JoeyBats—certainly one of the weaknesses in Jamie’s program. It’s a recurring theme.
One would think you could teach that

WVU playing well against KU.
Kilicli is one guy you want having your back! Tends to get into foul trouble with athletic clubs like the Jayhawks, though.
