I have nothing really to say but thought it would be cool to be the first to leave a comment!
DK: Coincidentally, I have no response to the first comment.
Guessing the Tangradi trade was possibly needed to clear a spot on the roster for Niskanen. Wondering if Niskanen and Letang aren’t both in the lineup tonight. If they are I hope they are not sitting Despres.
Kinda surprising that is all they could get for Tangradi, but I guess other clubs knew they could get him on waivers
Boychuk was a #1 pick that managed to make it through waivers to the Pens. He seems to have had more production in the pros than Tangradi. A little surprised myself that they were able to get a pick at all!
Extra 7th and 5th round picks should help us acquire Petr Sykora!
Yes I know hes not playing with a team right now; but I guess those picks are better than nothing!
I was thinking that if they traded all the guys they try with Neal & Geno, they could have the 7th round all to themselves.
Why even keep trying another wing? Go with Neal and Geno and put out 3 defensemen to cover up all the blue line passes that Geno makes that end up going the other way!
See that. And Bylsma thinks he’s a forward thinker.
I just heard that it was a 7th rounder, did not know about the 5th pick
They got the 5th rounder for Ben Lovejoy.
Ok, Duh, thanks
Remember that Mark Letestu guy? He’s got more goals than Boychuk, Kennedy, and Tangradi have combined in points.
Through 11 games Letestu has 5 goals and 2 assists. Glad to see him getting a shot in Columbus.
like
Letang & Niskanen will both play tonight.
In 13 games this year Evgeni Malkin’s left wing has no points. That’s nearly impossible. That’s the same amount of points that I have.
I recall a quote from Marc Bergevin years back on how he played w Lemieux in juniors….”I was on right wing, we had a garbage can on left wing. I got 30 goals with Mario. The garbage can got 35.”
Lol!
And that garbage can was a better skater than Warren Young.
Sail on Silverberg.
Sail on by.
Your time has come to shine.
All your dreams are on their way.
Excellent +1
Hello all…
- Tangradi to Winnipeg for the equivalent of a bucket of pucks (7th rd pick). I was hoping for a 4th or 5th round pick, so 7th round pick is more or less little risk for the Jets.
- When people stand still on the PP, no one is in front of the net… you don’t stand much chance of scoring.
1-0… turnover by Senators, Crosby quickly gets puck to Dupuis next to Anderson and quick one-timer into net.
Good lord what a saucer
That was a really sweet pass.
Man I hate when Errey talks about goaltending….
I hate when Errey talks…sometimes…
The way the league has devolved, one might be enough.
Does anyone have a cousin that has a friend that has a brother that knows a guy who has used Sports Yapper?
I have it but don’t really use it all that much
I’m yapping total road goals on Sports Yapper !
Maybe not.
Cooke with Geno & Neal now.
I’m going to go out on a limb here. I’m guessing Mika Zibanejad is the only Finnish-Iranian that was born in Sweden currently in the NHL.
Really?
Fleury great all game and then gives up that goal……
1-1
Wtf
Pretty ugly 2 goals, bad turnovers, bad goaltending…
Mentally weak.
that’s the reputation…
Great time for a TV time out.
Sens coming now
that PP had movement…. Neal gets to shooter’s position and blows it by Anderson.
That’s 2 road goals for the Sens. Now if they can manage a 0-0 contest in Ottawa, or conversely, allow a Pens road goal and score three goals of their own, then they will advance.
Makes perfect sense to me.
I want to get on record. I would have pulled Fleury after that 2nd piece of garbage.
Nah I say give him a chance to bounce back.
That’s why Bylsma’s the coach & I’m just a washed up baseball announcer.
Lol! The goals were awful I agree….
But it looks good on you, Milo
I would have pulled Martin after his 3rd penalty of the night.
That Karlsson injury does not look good for the Senators.
Hate to change the subject but did anyone see that the Steelers hired a 65 year old to be the WR coach? A guy who had spent the last 3 years out of coaching in the NFL and was working as a consultant for WR’s entering the draft. But he’s from Aliquippa so he’s qualified.
Yeah, strange hire but age doesn’t matter to me
I agree in most cases but I can’t imagine “young money” relating to a 65yr old guy. Lets hope I’m wrong.
Deuce for Neal!
Did we just find another winger for the Malkin – Neal line? Cooke does the dirty work on the forecheck and in front of the net. I’ll take that on this line any day.
Sadly, first LW to get even-strength point with Neal and Malkin….
Hate to say I told you so but look at this morning’s blog; I said why not put Cooke on the wing with those 2.
DK: Duly noted.
yes you did and he did well
Well maybe boychuk belongs 3rd line anyway. Much as Cooke is seen as a grinder he can score. And did quite a bit before coming up to NHL…
Amazing what happens when 2 defensemen are on the PP and it forces Neal and Crosby to rotate low so Malkin can stay along RW circle.
I still want net front presence. Really if they want to play the perimeters they need a big lug in front to bring the D in…..
The key is mixing up the PP… teams are too good with video, scouting, and coaching to get beat with the same PP setup, game after game.
I thought someone was rotating to the front of the net when the puck was out along the perimeter.
I actually like Kennedy/Vitale/Boychuk… Undersized but got some speed and grit. If anything they will be fun to watch when they fall down after being checked in the corners
Karlsson has a lacerated left achilles. It will require surgery.
And Cooke’s penalty is for what ? Receiving ? Please.
Giving him a misconduct was probably for his own protection.
I love Cooke, but he’s going to be in some serious trouble on this one. Yeah, he was looking the other way, but damn…he purposely uses that left skate to do…something. C’mon, he didn’t have to make that motion. You can argue he’s using his leg to help with his check, but that downward motion…that wasn’t just putting the skate down. Not going so far as to say he meant to slice the kid’s achilles, but…I’m predicting they say there was some intent to injure. He’ll pay a price for his past actions on this one. HOPE I’M WRONG!!!!
I think you’re wrong. Intent? How can Cooke know exactly where Karlsson’s skate is going to be so he can do that when his head is turned?
Sadly, Bryan Murray will be crying and spitting all over a microphone saying Cooke should be banned from the league and a video will be sent to Shanahan. Such a good idea for Murray to speak on what is good for hockey since having a cementhead like Chris Neil on your team speaks volumes about how you like the game to be played.
100% with you on Chris Neil
I saw 2 angles and cant say i agree….i think it goes down as just an unfortunate play….
I think you’re confusing Matt Cooke with PK Subban.
LIKE!!!!!!!
It’s real easy to distinguish between those two.
Yeah. One shoots right & the other shoots left.
one’s a straight shooter, the other is an azzmunch
Well, I hope you guys are right, but I still think they’re going to latch onto that downward motion that wasn’t just a putting-one’s-foot-down-on-the-ice type of thing. It looked to me like one of those things a player like Cooke does to be a little chippy, and this time it had major repercussions.
But like I said before…HOPE I’M WRONG.
Now that was a stomp. Subbans a tool.
LIKE!!!!!!!!
Would now be a good time to reminisce about Eric Tangradi’s goal ?
Uh…no
Still laughing at that original Tangradi comment of yours from a week or two ago, Milo.
Was nice to see Neal come alive tonight
Did Ray Lewis bring him back to life?
lol
Devils re-acquire former Penguin Alexi Ponikarovsky from Winnipeg for a 7th and 4th round pick.
Shero must have made one heck of a sales pitch to Winnpeg on Tangradi. I’m sure salary may have played a role in the move as well. But trade Ponikarovsky and a 7th round pick for Tangradi and a 7th and 4th round pick…. Seems like a wash to me.
Btw anyone notice that the average NHL ticket price has gone up nearly 10% over the past 2 years? Up 5.7% this year while the NFL was at 2.5, and the NBA was 3.5.
MLB numbers were not included due to the Pirates giving away tickets in happy meals in an attempt to drive up attendance.
