Good lord what a giveaway. Great poke by MAF….
Give it away, give it away, give it away now.
Every time they make those sloppy mistakes I envision pucks going in the net in playoffs…
Depres scratched. Are the Canes that imposing?
Is Eaton in or did they go with Bortuzzo? We dont get a lot of Pens games in Massachusetts so I can only follow the score on the Pens website.
Bortuzzo is playing. Still no Eaton.
Great pass from Sid and Kunitz all alone. Nice play but they don’t deserve to be ahead right now. Thank MAF for that.
The Pens are a turnover machine.
Yyyup.
Nothing like giving up a goal w secs left in the period….
Matt Niskanen is awful tonight.
Good lord. Nobody to help Fleury. Nobody.
This is a playoff contender?
3rd Carolina goal set up by great check by Vitale on Adams in neutral zone.
And now Skinner untouched. Wtf?
Just put Vokoun in and rest Fleury. Seriously. Send a msg Bylsma.
I was thinking the same thing. For his own protection. I think if it gets to 4-1 you’ll see it.
And nothing against MAF. Could be about 6-1 ….
Pens playing like it’s an All Star game. Don’t touch anyone around the net.
Repeat – not a playoff contender. This team can’t play on its own side of the red line.
Not doing to well on either side of the red line.
A shot on the power play!
Somewhere Therrien is saying soffff.
Agreed.
OK Sarah, now you’ll see Vokoun in the 3rd period. If you haven’t found something better to do, that is.
Laundry…
As I sign off to head to the other room to watch the final period, I prepare for the typical comments after the game “We lost focus. We lacked discipline. We didn’t get to our game.”
Put Niskanen in goal. He earned the punishment with his play tonight.
Dan B: Please stop overthinking it and play Simon Depres. Skill and speed should override your love of “grinders” (for example, Bortuzzo).
Seems like a team playing to get its coach fired.
Yup
They should be careful doing that. Next coach could be worse………..
But the Pens have a history of running coaches.
I just can’t see Shero firing Bylsma even though I think he should be replaced with someone who will make some key adjustments with the style of hockey. The passive penalty-killing was a huge problem against the Flyers, still an issue this season and worse because their defense isn’t as good and no Staal.
Then you’ve got the “chip-in” offense that is highlighted by long stretch passes that are easily intercepted or because there’s no speed some to the blue line that defensemen are able to safely step up and disrupt the play. That’s not what helped the Penguins win the Cup.
Tell me, how many times do you see tape-to-tape passing from Pens zone through the neutral zone?
All good points as usual Eric -
Thoughts – I recall early last season the PK was absolutely on fire, and contrary to the style now – they were VERY aggressive, a lot of movement, pretty much the opposite of the Statue of Liberty PK we see now. It’s confounding. Why the change??
As for HCDB – I see Rossi was mocking coach critics on Twitter last night, and I know Shero likes him….but really, if the Pens go 1 and Done again, do you see them keeping Bylsma? This group has all the earmarks of having tuned out their coach when it comes to sloppy play and poor discipline, and that’s outside critique of the Stretch Pass schemes….
How is it that TK is getting time on the PP and Dupuis and Cooke don’t? Also, I wonder if Shero could hear me booing this pathetic team from clear out here in Colorado?
This team is lacking grit.
To much passiveness in their own zone.
Too cute on offense.
In this short season, they have to get tougher, fast.
If they dont, they will be one and done.
They need to stop reading the press clippings saying they are a “contender”.
They need to play like one.
