  1. Pitt with win today takes sole possession of 4th place in the Big East. Significant as that earns a double bye for Big East Tournament. Hard to believe this is last home Big East game, lots of great memories in this conference. The landscape has changed and Pitt had to do what is best. Seeing Syracuse, Louisville and Notre Dame coming over softens the change a little.

Pitt and Villanova all-time series tied at 31 tie breaker gamee today.

Tough news with Adams hope it isn’t too serious. Good thing only one game next week on Saturday and could earn a few days off if team closes out 4 seed for Big East Tourney.

  2. One of my favorite Big East matchups. Philly vs the Burgh, etc.

Did not see pregame. Is Taylor starting merely because he is a senior or his Dixon shaking things up?

  3. This is a big game for ‘Nova. Joe Lunardi has them a bubble team. A loss here means they will need a good run at the Garden.

    • Wouldn’t mind seeing the Panthers make it more difficult for Jay Wright’s team to get in. I’m not bitter about Scottie Reynolds coast to coast drive or anything.

  4. 28-25 Villanova leads at half. Pitt had a 9 minute stretch without a FG.

    • Have seen that a few times this year. Spells where this team lacks rythm on offense. Defense strong once again just need to find #15 as he has hurt Pittfrom behind the arc.

Even without Adams need to assert ourslelves in the post. A couple of Villanova bigs have multiple fouls, need to utilize our strength.

Hope this is repeat of first meeting where it wasn’t until late in second half where Panthers pulled away from Wildcats.

      • Yeah, Pitt defense doing a great job of disrupting Nova’s attempts to dictate tempo. I would like to see them press some but too late in the year to experiment with that.

  5. Duran Johnson has the look of a scorer, give hime some more minutes. Woodall tear drop off glass and Pitt ties it after trailing by eight.

Now if the refs would let them play a little, 40 fouls already wow.

  6. No one would confuse JRob for being a polished shooter, but wow was that a big shot by the frehman after just missing a closer shot.

Tied up again, time to d up!

  7. Pitt opens ot on 7-0 run as Zanna has been a force in overtume scoring all seven. What a gutsy effort by Pitt sans their big man Adams.

This team just does not quit and knows how to persevere.

  8. Nova cuts it to two BUT JRob goes boom with another huge three on dish from Woodall and shot clock running down. Pitt up five :28 left…huge!

  9. Zanna rebound and is fouled…nah nah nah nah hey hey hey goodbye Villanova, welcome to the NIT!

    • Sweet win. Hopes it eliminates Nova from the Big Dance. Wish I coul be at MSG for the final real Big East tourney.

      • You and me both, should be something special. Just happy that it is shaping up for Pitt to start in the quarterfinals on the side of the bracket with better matchups for Panthers.

  10. Fitting Taylor the dunk to finish…73-64 Pitt and they jump into the Big East Top 4 with just DePaul left next Saturday.

    This will help tourney seeding.
