How many innings is Jmac scheduled for today?
Hey radio, have you heard anything on Marc Staal…what a terrible thing…puck to the eye!
I think he should be on schedule for 4 innings
Furcal to have Tommy John surgery – http://espn.go.com/mlb/spring2013/story/_/id/9026686/rafael-furcal-st-louis-cardinals-tommy-john-elbow-surgery
So, has Garret Jones been traded to the Yankees yet?
ZING!
No, but really.
They’re down to Matt Diaz in right field and minor leaguers at first base. I’d be really surprised if they haven’t called about Jones yet.
Send them Clint Robinson, Jerry Sands and Brad Hawpe. We need Jones’ bat.
He has a DH-type glove, but those 27 HR’s are needed.
+1
I really don’t see what the Yankees have to give that the Pirates need. Seems to be a case of Jones being worth more to the Pirates than what he could fetch in return.
Don’t the Yankees have some catching depth in their minor league system?
I think they’re catching poor right now on the ML level, Biz.
My two compadres here in the office that are Yankee fans have been relatively closed-mouths this spring about everything.
You are right about that Lucky, but I thought I read they had a few interesting prospects at the high A and AA level, not ready for the majors right now though
Now that could be. Might be a nice pickup if we could. I’d sure hate to see Jones go, though.
I think that was a few years ago, Biz.
They traded Montero and Romine hasn’t developed.
Gary Sanchez gets ranked as one of their top prospects but he’s only in A ball.
You could be right
They will have to add someone..panic mode in the Bronx.
Granderson is out to start the season as well.
Jones has some right side soreness
Good. Not good that he hurts, but good that he wouldn’t get traded while injured–maybe.
Vjandy:
Out indefinitely. Dr. says he will recover, did not describe the extent of the injury.
Dayum, that’s sad and scary sheeeiiittt
Jones?
No No, Spunky, radio is answering me from above about Marc Staal, the hockey player who took a puck to the eye.
OK. I was lamenting that I said it was good he was hurt after JAL’s post. Didn’t want to sound like I wished ill on the lad. Just don’t want him traded.
Oh I don’t either, Spunky!
Hope J-Mac is throwing more than fastballs today.
Not sure about that, but he retired the side first inning…I know two were flies to Snider.
Yay, Snider can catch a fly ball…
lol Ryan
He walked two in the second inning, but induce the double-play I’m got out of it would no score.y
radio must be using his phone to post
Box score on that double play reads Harrison to Mercer to Hawpe.
Maz to Groat to Stuart has nothing on that trifecta of greatness.
like
box scores says 4 innings, 1 hit, 3BB’s.
Gotta get that control down.
Yes, I am using the phone the post. I know it’s not always accurate. McDonald got out of the inning after hitting a batter and it to base error. Runners on second and third two out and apply out to end the inning.
Looks like a pretty clean start by JMac. Are the Rays regulars or most of them in the lineup today?
Looks like Longoria and Zobrist didn’t start, but those two are really the only dangerous hitters they have period.
The way Joe Maddon does things, I’m not exactly sure what a Rays regular is. There are familiar names in there Biz.
I absolutely love the way Freidman builds a team.
Gotta be a managers dream.
pretty good mold for low income teams isn’t it? Pirates are trying….Cole, Taillon, can’t wait to see those guys with the big team.
I ranted on this subject the other day. The Pirates are the anti-Rays in the way they’re putting together position players.
No versatility at all.
And don’t even dare mention Josh Harrison!
I try not to mention J-Hay at all. I was referring to their pitching staff they’ve built.
Inge? ha ha ha
Thanks!
Good outing for James McDonald. 4 shutout innings. He did walk 3 but obviously kept the ball in the yard today.
needs to get the control down.
I don’t think anyone in the Rays lineup could get one out of the yard in batting practice.
When the wind blows down there, you or I could get one out of there. But I get your point. Jack Cust would rather walk anyway.
Ha, Jack Cust reference. I had to go back to the box score to see that he was actually still in baseball.
Speaking of power, Travis Snider did not strike out last at bat. So we’ve got that going for us.
Bonus…I think Snider better start making some waves or he’s gonna be on the bench. Which I’m fine with.
Matt Joyce has some pop.
JEANMAR
What is the sound my lunch makes when it’s coming back up ?
Everybody DUCK!
Milo for $300.
Pronounced Johnmar. Another poor usage of the name “John”.
Milo:
Drake arch madness tonight.
Bradley Braves. I believe they split with them this year. Mark Phelps needs a couple of wins. Really bad.
Looks like both teams have their hittin’ shoes on today. Just tied to each other.
Rory McIlroy has made it all the way through 11 holes today.
He’s cheating on Wozniacki or did they split up?
I guess he’s taken care of his issues with his toothache, also known as Caroline Wozniacki.
No cut in that tourney, either.
Here’s a sad story, a worst nightmare
http://msn.foxsports.com/nhl/story/swiss-ice-hockey-player-ronny-keller-paralyzed-in-playoff-game-030713
Sad indeed
Kind of makes me sick to my stomach to think about. Hopefully this is a wakeup call to all leagues about why boarding is such a heinous act.
3-0 Rays. Here comes lunch.
DUCK!!!!!!!
Here is where spring training can be instructive. There is no rule against getting someone out after one of your teammates makes an error.
Preach it, brother.
Hey JAL,
Might I suggest including this article in your hockey links section tomorrow. It is a great read http://thehockeywriters.com/penguins-primed-major-trade/.
Good read, Iceman, thanks for sharing the link. I posted it back on the other thread for our cognitive -challenged friend to read
Jany, I ead it on the ther link, Thanks for the posting, I am trying to atch up to you all.
Jandy that is darn keyboard or is it drews fault?
Here’s another tidbit:
In February, three of the top seven (and four of the top 15) selling jerseys in the NHL were Penguins. Sidney Crosby (No. 3), Evgeni Malkin (No. 6) and James Neal (No. 7) round out the top seven. Kris Letang’s jersey ranked 15th (higher than Alex Ovechkin and Steven Stamkos).
Paul Martin will be in the lineup tonight
Anyone but Travis Snider.
I can’t imagine a more pleasing pre-season sight for a 2013 Pirates fan than those four innings JMac put up.
