  1. Sounds like Bylsma said that if Cooke doesn’t play, the Pens will dress 7 defensemen. I wonder who get’s moved from the 4th to the 3rd line? None of them really deserve to be moved up. Also wonder if Bylsma will try any defensemen on the wing if he has to dress 7.

    • The one mentioned, which might be interesting, is Engelland…4th line spot duty and “available”.

      • I would love to see Engelland play up on the fourth line, but who do you move from the 4th line to the 3rd line. I guess it would have to be Adams, but I’m not sure.

      • Why not put Despres on a wing; he can at least put the puck on net

        • I knew they would regret giving up on Zack Boychuk! Fire Ray Shero.

        • Engelland has put his shot from the point on net as much as anybody.
Also, by double shifting Sid and Sutter, you could pick your spots for him.
I would move Glass. He may never score again, but I believe leads the team in hits.

  2. In honor of the Pens thread and in the spirit of the day, Happy St. Barrasso Day to everyone.

Similar to St. Pats except we color the beer mean.

  3. Ronny Cedeno was cut today by the Cards.

Maybe he can center the 5th line for the Pens

  4. “Should Cooke be unable to play, Bylsma hinted that the Penguins may deploy seven defensemen against the Capitals. ” By Josh Yohe

My question is all at once? :-)

  5. So the NFL has banned peel back blocks any where on the field now. Not saying its a bad thing; but now they are attempting to keep the runner from using the crown of his helmet when engaging a defender. Jeff Fisher stated they wanted to “bring the shoulder back into the game”.

Any chance they can have a penalty for too many penalties?

All these judgement call penalties are getting silly. If they are going to tack on 15 yards for all these they should be able to be challenged. Thats one rule I’d like to see added. Any penalty over 15 yards should be able to be challenged. They have just as much of an impact on a game as the plays they allow to be challenged now.

  6. Lets Go Pens
Keep the Caps near the bottom of the SE.
Jets have a shot at the playoffs even taking the division.
Pens -Jets in the playoffs – DK would be in heaven! LOL

  7. Fire Bylsma!

  8. Loud, fun crowd at Robert Morris.

  9. I found 2 interesting facts today…

Of the MLB teams with 4 or more appearances in the WS the Pirates have the highest winning percentage.

And since 1985 MLB teams have had an average of 8 different managers during that time; the Twins…. 2.

  10. Pens D (Eaton and Martin) chipping in with some quality scoring chances tonight.

  11. DK, What happened to this blog? My comment has been awaiting moderation for 8 minutes now.

  12. Pens losing 1-0.

    Fire Bylsma.

  13. Is everyone watching the BB game?

      • That’s good. I thought I was the only one allowed to post here and the rest of the world suddenly disappeared…except for the people at the Consol that is. ;)

      • Nice shot by Martin!
Root had a nice replay – down low behind Martin -sorta cool – ya could see what Martin saw as to the opening- HARD shot- hit the hole!!

      • Seriously…since 7:53, it’s been only you and me. It’s now 9:00.

        • Well, some of us think Hockey is the best sport in the world and only miss a game under extreme duress.
But I am retired – don’t have to get up till I feel like it- kids grown up an left the nest- so I have very little duress anymore!!
Yinz that have worked 12 hrs today-gotta put the kids to bed -get up at 5am-
          etc. I understand – been there-done that-got the T shirt!
So Go Pens – if yinz are watchin or not!! LOL

ps. Don’t mean to rub it in , but I would not go back to work for 3 times the money- and I did like my job!

          • Must be nice to be retired. Someday I’ll know that feeling. Probably be 68 or so by then though…not too far off actually. Time seems to zip by pretty fast once you get past the 40 mark.

          • Pucknutters, I get up at 4AM, and I DID watch the game, just wasn’t on the blog. But I was yelling, trust me, I was yelling :)

  14. All I know is: Opukin scores from the left side on the PP with the Pens back to him and ignoring him. How predictable. Typical Pens/Caps game at the Consol..I swear if it weren’t for the Penguins Opukin’s goal totals would be cut in half. They just gotta give the one dimensional monkey a PP goal every game don’t they. Must be written into his contract.

    • OPUKIN – I love it! “one dimensional Monkey” – Ya man!
Gotta agree w/ya Opukin gets a goal all the time -seems like anyway.
Before the game I was thinkin to myself – I said Self, I don’t care if the the Pens lose 10-0
as long as the 8 ball don’t get a goal. (well… I really would care but you see my point)

  15. Robert Morris is a good team. Disciplined and cool (at least at home). Gotta luv college BB.

  16. Ovechkin’s game if lame and he’s one of the worst passers I’ve ever seen.

  17. #2 for RMU has made so many good plays. Too bad he lost ball . . .

  18. One more play!

  19. Either OT or RMU win right here.

  20. super in-bounds play –too bad shots rolled off.

  21. And the kids storm the court! KY misses 3 pointer at buzzer without taking a TO to set up a play. Fun Game! Now switching to Pens!

  22. I think Ky wanted it the last 5 minutes. RMU wouldn’t give it up. Very nice. Cool at the line.

  23. WOW WOW WOW – kill off a double minor – score !
    It don’t get no better!!!
    Fire Blysma!!
    Go Pens!!!!

  24. There’s a reason that lazy puke Ovechkin can be on for almost the entire 4 minute PP. He doesn’t work. floats around above the left dot freelancing in a 15′ by 15′ box and is generally a bad player by the definition of it. Sorry but he’s a joke. I can’t stomach him.

  25. RMU beat Kentucky… Andy Toole to Pitt, let Jamie Dixon go to USC (joking)

    then minutes later

HUGE penalty-kill by Pens, great breakout, loud crowd on rush, and awesome wrist shot by Niskanen to put the Pens ahead 2-1.

  26. Ovechkin is so fake I don’t even think his sweat is real. At his leisurely pace he could probably play an entire game without coming off the ice.

    • When Ted Leonsis is sick of watching his star, he’ll hire a GM and coach that won’t put up with his franchise star loafing all over the ice.

      • My prediction is in 2 years Ovie is dazzling the fans in Russia full time. I originally gave him 7 years before he fell off the face of the earth and he continues to make me look good.

      • Ya but who is gonna want him at his price (“superstar”).
I think the “great 8 is done unless he really changes his mind set.
        How many coaches have tried???

        • The KHL will give him close to what he’s making now if not the same. He’ll leave once he’s considered an overpaid joke in the NHL, which most think he is already.

He is what he is, nothing’s changing him. He’ll give up before he changes his game or attitude. Outside of his bullish strength and his one trick pony shot from the left dot and curl and drag (yawn) skill, he’s nothing. Makes Stamkos look like Gretzky.

        • Not only that, but once he has an injury significant enough to neuter what little he does bring to the game, he’ll be even more unspecial and like Bure, will ultimately become an obscure answer to some future trivia question.

  27. 10 wins in a row for the Penguins

  28. Seriously…. RMU beat Kentucky?

Eric I know your joking but wait till Pitt loses in the first round; then you’ll really start hearing some cries.

  29. Who here thinks Leonsis would trade Ovechkin for Malkin straight up in a heartbeat…who here thinks the Pens would tell him to go pound salt…after they gathered themselves from rolling on the floor and laughing hysterically. ;)
