  5. Well, I want to catch JMB tonight

    So 100 on the OVAH

Playoffs, do we have a suitable trophy for the winner?

Again, as I will say all the time, thanks for doing this

  6. If you haven’t logged in where you live, or are not sure, please post a reply to this post.

Yes, I should have been a census taker, but I love the fact that so many different places follow this here blog.

Posting the whole list takes up space ;-)

  7. Dejan is on vacation, he might not know it, but he took my brain

    Beat em Bucs

  8. Public is on the over…..

give me 50 on the under. Thx

  9. Every time I click onto Ron’s TribLive Pirates page from this blog I end up on the Trib Duquesne college basketball page. Go figure, and Go Bucs!

  10. Ok. I just watched Bubba Watson cry (again) at Augusta National. When asked what last year’s green jacket meant to him.

    My new favorite golfer.

    Now Tiger is talking.

    Not my favorite golfer.

I’ve cried two times re sports. The first two within months of each other.

    1. Bob Moose wild pitch
    2. December 31, 1972

    Good. For. Him.

    (Not Tiger)

    • Yes & yes.

    • I cried at the end of Rocky II, does that count as sports crying?

    • I wonder if Bubba is related to Dick Vermeil. Or Jim Leyland. or John Boehner.

    • My mantra for this weekend: Anybody but Tiger!

    • Times I cried in sports…

      1. June 1987; took a line drive to the nuts. Let me tell ya as a 12 year old it was the last time I pitched. Being a lefty I could easily be making 10 mil a year at the age of 37.

      2. November 1991; I was cut from the 10th grade basketball team. I vowed not to let it get me down and soon was dunking from the foul line and Nike gave me my own line of shoes. Wait this wasn’t my story; nevermind.

      2. October 14,1992; Bonds obviously wasn’t using steroids yet or candy arm throws out Bream easily. Was the most gut wrenching.

      3. Jan 15, 1994; Barry Foster on 4th and goal turns and squares at the goaline only to have the O’Donnell pass be knocked down

I considered adding the Pens loss to the Islanders in the first round of the 1993 playoffs but I realized that there is too much boo hooing going on in this post.

But by far my most gut wrenching moments in sports.

  11. Nice outing by Andy Oliver tonight. 5 innings, 0 runs, 3 hits, 3 BB, 5 K’s. Maybe he’s better than AAAA. Only 25.

Still not much hitting at Indy.

  12. I cried that time the Buccos broke their record futility streak. Oh wait! That never happened.

  13. No one made mention of Andrew Lambo hitting for the cycle for Altoona tonight. Which trade did we get him in again? Or is he one of those picks that have been used stock pile the minors as the wiseful Neal would have us believe.

  14. Andrew Lambo has the cycle for Altoona tonight through only 5 innings. Maybe he’s finally ready for AAA.

  15. Some quick notes from BP and an awesome experience. Got to shake Clint Hurdle’s hand an congratulate him on win. Gave a shout to GI Jones for blast last night and he laughed.

Guys looked locked in especially Marte, Walker and Jones. Jones is my call for big night as he was really squaring ball up.

Jay Bell was chatting up both Buc and DBack fans as I believe he scored winning run in DBacks World Series win.

Hoping for a healthy pitching performance tonight and win #2 in a row. Go Bucs

  16. Playoffs:

I put in 100 on the over about 25 minutes ago and it is stuck in moderation. Thanks

  17. This is a big game for the Pirates. Which JMac takes the mound?

  18. More big games are in the offing when Charlie Morton comes back.

  19. Martin finally got a hit!!

  20. This could be an ugly game, if it wasn’t already for you.

losing 4-1, McDonald wild and Hurdle needs 5 innings at least from J-Mac after Wandy went down early last night.

  21. Well its good to see JMac returning to form. Maybe this year he’ll start out like crap and won’t sulk over being left out of the all-star game and come back with a strong second half in AAA.

  22. Barmes of all people walks.
This is gonna be an interesting night.

  23. When is this team gonna execute like a major league team? Or, like a well coached high school squad! Jeez.

  24. The Pirates are like some union run businesses. With the lack of depth in the minors they know their jobs are safe no matter what. Who we going to call up? Matt Hague?

What is going to make or break this team is the return of Brandon Inge and Jose Contreras. Those 2 guys if they come back healthy and play well could net us a 27 year old in AA come trade deadline.

  25. That was a nice hit by Marte.
    Real nice hit.

  26. Marte and Walker come through called them out up top after BP…knew runs would be scored way McCarthy throwing. Bats awakening.

    Let’s Go Bucs!

  27. And now Jones coming through with two strike RBI knock and 2-3 on the night. Go Buccos!

  28. JMac with quick 1-2-3 inning as he has settled down after rough first inning. Time to add on.

    • I saw a guy in a yellow Bucco jersey waving to the camera by the 1st base dugout.
Is that an official JRay sighting?

      • Im right above Bucs dugout in white shirt though…couldn’t wear Bucs gear out of courtesy for my friend who works for Dbacks that got me on field.

Nice job JMac getting Montero to double up!

  29. McDonald may make that 5 innings Eric talked about above. I think Drew or someone said earlier in the season, that we should start a reliever and let McDonald come in to start the 2nd. Although he was kidding, McDonald really has been starting slow even in ST games.

  30. GI Jones looking much better on that 3-6-3 DP! Way to go JMac. Add on some more boys!!

  31. “I caught it!”

  32. Hughes is gonna make this a lot more “interesting” than it needs to be.

  33. First game this season with double-digit hits. Hope there’s more where that came from.

    • Well, now I have a decision………..

Have watched parts of, or all of 5 games. All losses.
Have not watched 3 games. All wins.

This is troubling. But if I have to not watch the games, and we win 154 more, then I will do that.

I guess I will resort to keeping up on this blog, and waiting for highlights after the game.

157 and 5 would be a good record, huh? ;)

    • +100

  34. The Battling Buccaneers of the Allegheny win again!!
    It’s a winning streak!!

    Once again the UNDER wins.

  35. Clint Hurdle is really a patient manager. Two four pitch walks would have made many managers go to the pen early, but not Hurdle. He tends to leave his struggling starters in
a little too long, sometimes long enough for the game to get out of control. I’ve seen it many times. he can’t figure it out that his starter just doesn’t have it today-take him out and save him for another day.
