Let’s open The Window…What’ll ya have? What’ll ya have?
As always this is just for fun and entertainment purposes.

Max “wager” is 100 units on each separate line.
All “wagers” must be divisible by 5.
Play as many or a few as you’d like.
Please put your replies in this dialogue box, makes it much easier for me to “book-keep” that way.

    Line #1
Total STRIKEOUTS THROWN by A.J. Burnett in tonight’s game
    Line is 7.5

    Line #2
Total HITS by Travis Snider in tonight’s game
    Line is 1.5

Anyone can play, and everyone should try!

Thanks to all for playing and good luck!!

***First Place at the end of APRIL will win:***

First Place at the end of the season will win:

Second Place at the end of the season will win:

Third Place at the end of the season will win:

Fourth Place at the end of the season will win:

Fifth Place at the end of the season will win:

  2. JMB says:

    100 on EACH OVER

  3. Oz says:

    75 over on both…Thanks

  4. Bizrow says:

    100 on OVAH, thanks

If, say I get to – 10, 000, I still am good for it??? :-)

  5. JAL says:

Never did understand this, how can you get 1.5 hits–is that a base hit and a HBP?

  6. Good question, JAL.
Let me attempt to explain it.

The extra .5 is so that there won’t be any pushes (ties) when someone “wagers.”
So if the line is at 1.5 hits, basically you have to ask yourself will he get 2 or more hits or less than 2.
If I set the line at 2 hits and everyone has to pick an OVER or an UNDER based on that it would lead to a bunch of pushes.
By putting in the .5 it assures there will be a winner on either side of the line.

    Does that help at all?

  7. Jandy says:

    Elementary, my dear Watson :)

  8. KJX says:

    #1: 75 OVER
    #2: 75 UNDER

  9. fellocolonial says:

Line 1 100 on the under
Line 2 100 on the under

  10. I know you have the nuclear nuggets stored somewhere…so yes, you’re good!!

  11. You want 100 on both OVER’s correct?

  12. You are welcome and you got it.

  13. NMR says:

Found a pretty detailed scouting report for Mr. Pettibone in case anyone is interested.

DK: Thank you. Was going to look this up myself.

  14. JAL says:

Oh, same saying will he get less than 2 hits–so if go less then I win if he goes hitless or gets 1 hit and I lose if he gets 2,3, 4 or more hits

  15. Bizrow says:

    Yes, correct, thanks

  16. Precisely, you got it!!!!

  17. No problem. You got it!

  18. Jandy says:

Ding ding ding ding ding :) :) :)

  19. Arriba Wilver says:

Now you HAVE to bet, JAL.

  20. Jandy says:

    Thanks NMR :)

  21. Jandy says:

Well, that is some good news!

  22. Jandy says:

Line 1 is 75 on the over. Line 2 is 75 on the over.
    Thanks Playoffs :)

  23. You’re quite welcome….you got it!!

  24. TCB says:

    75 under for both.

  25. Ghost says:

50 on the under for both, please.

  26. cmat0829 says:

Good lines today… makes us think…. 100 UNDER on line 1, 100 OVER on line 2.

Typically, if AJ is on, he gets a lot of Ks. But I kinda feel like it is going to be a different type of game, he will get a lot of ground ball outs, so lets go 100 units UNDER.

With Travis, got to ride the hot hand with the young pitcher going, again a tough line bc I can see him having 1 hit and a walk and scoring a couple of runs, but lets go OVER.

  27. Ghost says:

    Playoffs now owns you, Biz.

  28. Baywatch says:

If I was a guessing man, I’d say in recent years, outside L.A., Philly is the place the club has had its gluteus maximus drubbed the most times. Do they keep easy-to-find records on stuff like that?

  29. Thanks for the compliment. I like it when a line or lines makes people think.

    YOU GOT IT!!!

  30. They’ve actually done halfway decently against the Phils over the last 5 or so years.

  31. Ghost says:

You should embed the melody “Speak Softly Love” in all your posts whenever you’re around.

  32. Ghost says:

Playoffs calls familia in Philly and ‘fixes’ things.

  33. Brandie says:

    Dear Mr. Playoffs,

50 on the over for each line please. Thank you.

  34. Baywatch says:

Hee-Hee! Ghost did you say that with your lower lip packed with cotton?

  35. 21sthebest says:

It’s like we’ve entered the Bizarro World. We’re starting A.J. Burnett and their guy is making their Major League debut with an ERA this year in the minors of 9.64.

  36. Arriba Wilver says:

I’m going to go with 100 OVER on each line. What’s the worst that can happen? I’ll still be the same amount ahead of Biz. :-)

  37. JRay3 says:

Well good afternoon to the window, a great day for the Bucs to achieve their longest win streak of the season by night’s end.

Glad it is a multi-line Monday as I need to make up a little ground and we have two interesting lines tonight.

The first centers on AJ Burnett, who in his four starts this year has 35 K’s and is averaging 8.75 K’s a game. In fact he has eight or more K’s in each of his starts. The Phillies on the other hand as a team have struck out 148 times in 19 games or 7.78 times a contest. In their last five games they have six, 10, six, six, seven strike outs.

I am going to go with the recent trend here and play the numbers that favor the under slightly.

    Line 1 – 100 on the UNDER

In the second line we have the maybe the Bucs hottest hitter in Travis Snider. Snider enters the game hitting .357 with a .449 OBP. In fact in the 10 games that Snider has at least three official AB’s he has achieved two hits in five of them, including three straight games with multi-hits. So truly this is a 50/50 line this evening. The public will see that the Phils starting a AAA pitcher called up to take the start which may sway the action.

To get 2+ hits in four games is a mathematical anomaly. So I will lean the opposite way here.

    Line 2 – 100 on the UNDER

Thanks Playoffs and Lets Go Bucs!

  38. All the sailors say Brandie, you’re a fine girl, what a good wife you would be, but my life, my love and my lady is the sea…..

You’re welcome and you got it!!!

  39. As always, the analysis is greatly appreciated.

    YOU GOT IT!!

  40. Baywatch says:

Yeah, but 21s, you know how we usually fare against AAA pitchers just called up! Gotta love the matchup, though … for what it’s worth!

  41. NMR says:

You can blame me for the inevitable two-hitter the guy will now throw, but looking strictly at his scouting report, he seems like the type the Pirates can hit well.

Doesn’t seem to have much of a breaking ball and is over the plate quite a bit. I worry about the “effectively wild” guys that seem to have the Pirates flailing at everything out of the zone. Plenty of guys on this team can put a charge into a fastball over the plate.

  42. Ghost says:

    ( ‘ – ‘ )

  43. Playoffs, I’m going to say 100 astronomical units on the OVER for both lines. Keep the momentum going. Go Bucs!

  44. Bizrow says:

    + 100

  45. You got it!!!

By the way, you planning on catching any of the games when the Bucs come to DC in July?

I’ll probably take in a few myself.

  46. Bizrow says:

Got two dachsys in my bed though,

    Don’t need a horse head ;-)

  48. Lad9 says:

Will go 100 on the over for Line 1 and 50 on the over for Line 2. Waffled on line 2 about 10 times.
    Thanks Playoffs – Go BUCS!

  49. No problem. Thank you for playing.

    YOU GOT IT!!

  50. I will be at the first three games. I am burning a good bit of time off before they get there, so I can’t make the day game. We’ll be in Section 403, Row E for each of those first three games. Be glad to meet you there if you can attend.

  51. Excellent. I’ll let ya know which ones I’m going to be attending.
We can grab a beer or two!!

  52. Bizrow says:

    + 1

  53. Jason81 says:

100 on the OVER for Line 1.
100 on the UNDER for Line 2.

  54. You’re welcome and you got it!!

  55. Biz, I know this would be long, and there are already some on the list that are in there, but for the Lunatic Hall of Fame how about a blanket: “Any Allegheny, Pirate, Crawford, and Gray in the National Baseball Hall of Fame.” This would cover quite a bit.

If you want to just keep it at actual names, ones I was really thinking of the other day are:
Barney Dryfuss – No World Series or even Bucs if this man never came along.
Josh Gibson – Shouldn’t even need to say why. Wish he would have gotten his chance in the MLB.
    “Gus” Greenlee – Crawfords Owner
    Cumberland Posey – Grays Owner

Like I said there could be many more to add. Thanks for keeping the list.

  56. Arriba Wilver says:

Playoffs—I didn’t know you were in the DC area. For some reason I thought you were out West?

  57. MadTurk says:

So how did it go today?

  58. Bizrow says:

Yeah, we could do that, I could add Steelers or Penguins too?

  59. Brandie says:

Had to reschedule to Wednesday at 12. Got pressed into doing two van runs to transport kids to what amounts to an alternative school. It was a cluster. Got no thanks for it.

  60. Brandie says:

How wonderful! Get them t-shirts that say “I kicked terrorism’s a$*!”

  61. JohninOshkosh says:

    Line 1: 25 Under
    Line 2: 25 Under

    Thank you, my liege.

I’ll be watching the Pens-just like you, no doubt. :)

  62. Brandie says:

    You rock, Biz.

  63. I was thinking that too, but didn’t know if you wanted to mainly keep it baseball related. I know this is likely an All-Pittsburgh type thing, which is also great. Thanks again for considering it.

  64. Bizrow says:

I just changed it, but if its ok, Mario and the Great One stay on the list, Mario for an owner as much as a player, the Great One because IMO he is the best dam player I have ever seen.

But a good way to honor those guys and not make the list as long as the folks that blog here

    Good idea, thanks

  65. Brandie says:

I was indeed named after the song, :-)

  66. That sounds good to me. Thanks.

  67. MadTurk says:

Let us know Wednesday how it went.
    Thanks for the update.

  68. Brandie says:

    You got it, Mr. Turk.

  69. pattonbb says:

The window has not been kind to me. BUT, Pirates have won every game that I lost….so…on that note….

    Line 1 – 100 OVER
    Line 2 – 100 UNDER

So here’s to hoping AJ fans 7 en route to a complete game shutout and Snider goes 1 for 4 with a game winning grand slam to beat those ugly Filthadelphia Phils.

  70. Nor Cal Stlrfanrc (Ryan) says:

    Line 1: 50 Under

    Line 2: 50 Under

  71. Nor Cal Stlrfanrc (Ryan) says:

Thanks, no clue who this guy is….and I’ve actually been working today.

  72. Nor Cal Stlrfanrc (Ryan) says:

    I’ll play the blame game…

  73. Pucknutz says:

    Line 1 – 100 OVER – smoke em AJ
    Line 2 – 100 Under

  74. Nor Cal Stlrfanrc (Ryan) says:

Biz, will be moving in a few months so get ready to add another city to SC

  75. Joey Mellons says:

Ill go 55 units on the over for line #1, R. Howard is good for the golden sombrero a la the Pedro Alvarez. 35 units on the under for line #2, thanks to jrays analysis.

  76. Joey Mellons says:

I mean Jray3 analysis not jrays.

  77. Then it’ll be SC Stlrfanrc (Ryan), right?

  78. pattonbb says:

    What part of SC?

  79. theplanisworking says:

    Mister Playoffs, My good Man,

I would like to play 100 for both lines on the UNDER.

As Sgt. Esterhaaus would say……………. Lets be careful out there.

Thank You for providing the asylum (and this whistling Hippo) a nice diversion with this “window” stuff.

  80. Dadtackular says:

    100 over on Burnett
    100 under on Snider

  81. bman says:

Line 1: 50 on the UNDER
Line 2: 50 on the UNDER

  82. cherokee23 says:

    1…..100 over………………2….100 under

  83. Marte starting it off on a good note with a lead off double.

  84. Brandie says:

Nice to hear from you, Plan. Enjoy both games.

  85. Rookie gets an early called third strike on Cutch. Ball was clearly ball four. Veterans get that call, but rookies facing the Bucs get it too apparently.

  86. pattonbb says:

Heck of a catch by Mayberry.

  87. Excellent catch by Mayberry and the Bucs don’t score.

  88. Arriba Wilver says:

Not criticizing Cutch, and did not see that SO, but he had some SO’s yesterday he didn’t agree with that were well in the zone, based on the computer grid.

  89. Baywatch says:

In the last 20 games, Pirates are 4-16 at Citizen’s Bank, according to a tweet by Karen Price

  90. Question since it happened yesterday to Cutch as well, but why is a fly out that advances a runner by tagging and moving to another base besides home not a sac fly, while advancing a runner by bunting is a sac bunt? I understand the sac fly for a runner scoring, but why not when they move up.

AJ doesn’t get the called third strike that the rook got on an outside pitch, but luckily came back and got him anyway.

  91. Brandie says:

Way past time to rectify that situation.

  92. pattonbb says:

This one appeared to be low AND away

  93. theplanisworking says:

Can we list “Hippos Pond” as a place? ;)

  94. theplanisworking says:

    Thank You Miss Brandie.

    Any requests tonight?

  95. pattonbb says:

David DeJesus leads off the Cubs/Reds game with a hr. As he comes to 2nd, he says something to Phillips and makes a face. Wondering if Brandon Phillips will label DeJesus a racist.

  96. Pedro HR, Bucs up 1-0!!!

  97. pattonbb says:

  98. Thing got out of here in a hurry, and was high enough to get over the fence.

  99. Martin with a single off the wall, and his slowness turns it into an out by trying to go to second. Does he realize he is a catcher?

  100. Brandie says:

    The Beatles “Yellow Submarine”.

  101. Pretty dead in here tonight. You’d think there was a Pens game on or something.

  102. Brandie says:

    Just Pedro being Pedro.

  103. theplanisworking says:

We all Live in a Pirate Submarine, Pirate Submarine, Pirate Submarine…………..

  104. JD says:

Is anyone able to view this game on Directv?

  105. Sounds good, Playoffs.

  106. Watching on my computer.

  107. Kratz almost got all of one, but it stays in the yard. After three flyouts, Bucs, still up 1-0 and Phils strand two.

  108. BillyBaduka says:

Tried to paste pic, oh well.

We’re 8-9 rows behind home and 10-11 seats from Phillies dugout.

Phew, it looked like a couple of those were going out.

    Lets go Bucs!

  109. JD says:

Mine says MLB channel is blacked out. Not sure why. I live in Toledo.

  110. Pens, Jeffries scores, so Pens up 1-0.

  111. pattonbb says:

good Pedro is so much more fun to watch than bad Pedro.

  112. Drew71 says:

  113. Brandie says:

    Vote for Pedro.

  114. A walk to the opposing pitcher eventually leads to him coming around and scoring to tie the game at 1. The Bucs have 4 hits but 6 Ks and no walks for the rookie. AJ has given up 3 hits and 2 walks, and only struck out 4.

  115. Pens up 2-0 now near the end of 1 period.

  116. pattonbb says:

The pen will get a nice workout tonight if this keeps up. AJ’s struggling to throw strikes.

  117. AJ was groovin’ in the first, but since then has been missing with his pitches. He may not get the K’s tonight, but the walks or high pitch count will get him. Bases loaded now with NO out, so this may not be good.

  118. JD says:

    Yep, a Dirty Bird.

  119. AJ with 6 K’s now.

  120. Keith says:

    AJ might just be clutch.

  121. Brandie says:

I love your avatar…Lambert…a football player with. A hockey mouth.

  122. Keith says:

Jury in: AJ not so clutch.

  123. 2-2 on Rollins, and AJ hits him to bring in the run. 2-1 Bad guys now.

  124. Sanchez taken out yesterday at 75 or so pitches through three, AJ now at 3 and 2/3 with 85 pitches.

  125. The Pirates need to realize that they are facing a ROOKIE making his first start – EVER in the bigs. They are playing in to his hands too much. Let’s get the bats going in the top of the inning.

  126. Keith says:

    AJ reclutch.

  127. Keith says:

    Sanchez < AJ

  128. Burnett K’s number 7, but with the pitch count over 90, that may be his last. May need to take one for the team and save the bull pen one more inning. Come on Bats!

  129. Brandie says:

Sometimes you have it…sometimes it has you.

  130. True, but still he is at 92 pitches through 4 innings. I’m old school, so I say let him go out there again, but we know how the guys are coddled these days.

  131. Keith says:

    Nice, Russell.

  132. theplanisworking says:

    Met Jack in Person twice.
Great athlete. Best MLB of all-time, IMO.
    I will stop there.

  133. Russell ties it at two with a deep shot to Left. 2-2!!

  134. JRay3 says:

First Pedro, now Martin goes yard to tie it at two. Those two continue their hot streaks.

  135. theplanisworking says:

Think they let him out there?
    4th looked a little shaky.

  136. theplanisworking says:

Well, being he bunted, I guess I got my answer……..

  137. Martin’s single was hard and off the wall earlier, too. Would have been beter if he didn’t try for two at that point. Seems to be heating up, hopefully.

  138. Drew71 says:

AJ bunts. Way to keep his eye on the ball.

    So to speak.

  139. Over the last 2 or 3 years, the Pirates have gone from an extreme “pitch to contact” philosophy no doubt imported from NH’s Cleveland roots, to an extreme miss the bat philosophy. Burnett’s got 7 K’s through 4, with 92 pitches thrown and 3 fly outs to one ground out. This is an ace’s version of the same pitching disease that afflicted Sanchez last night, when he went 3 innings and struck out 5 on 74 pitches. If we’re going to pay Barmes, let’s make sure our starters get their money’s worth from the D.

  140. Unless Travis can get two more ABs, the UNDER may win that one tonight.

  141. pattonbb says:

  142. Frankie says:

    Need a few more runs…

  143. theplanisworking says:

    He was just following instructions.

They teach you in Little League “keep your eye on the ball”.

  144. These shifts are stupid if you are not going to pitch to your defense. That’s a normal play if they don’t shift. Instead, Marte has to hurry to prevent the broken double and keep Utley to one bag.

  145. Can “so to speak” be translated into Checheyan? Do they have any good starters with a downward plane? Sinking action? Where can I get real pastrami sandwich?

  146. Pedro needs to work on his turn at second. Should have been two. Nice play by Barmes.

  147. Brandie says:

    Nice Muscle Hustle, Russell.

  148. Thundercrack says:

“The ballgirl getting some action tonight”

Live that line from Wehner. Wonder if that made Brown laugh

  149. AJ got out of it with a DP on pitch #101. That may have been his last pitch, so if it was, the UNDER will win that line too.

  150. Brandie says:

    Getting a little schmutzy.

  151. JRay3 says:

AJ gets through meat of the Phils order to make it through fifth. Have to admire the way he competes and battles even when he may not have his “A” game.

  152. Do the players lack confidence in the coaching they’re getting? If so, “why” is a burning journalistic question.

  153. +1. Come on Cutch!!

  154. theplanisworking says:

    Dont know Checheyan.

You can get an awesome pastrami sandwich at Sal’s in Brooklyn.
Nice crusty bread……….. awesome mustard, too.

  155. I think Jay Bell needs to get Cutch to start thinking of the whole field again. Seems that when he went off last year he was going to all fields, then in the second half got too pull happy. Seems to me that he is still in pull happy mode right now. I’m not charting the hits, though, so i could be mistaken.

  156. Pettibone Junction stymies the Bucs bats as he leaves with a tie after 5 1/3 innings only giving up 2 runs and 6 K’s, no walks.

  157. He made my “role model” list last year, and I’m 58 years old and jaded. A.J. Burnett is one fine pitcher, and more importantly, as best I can tell at the distance of fandom, a mensch. Wikipedia says that translates to “a person of integrity and honor”. And that’s how he strikes me.

  158. Horrible ABs by Jones and Walker there. 2-2 after 5 ad a half.

  159. UNDER wins on AJ as he exits to a No Decision.

  160. Parrothead01 says:

Why would any pitcher ever throw Walker a strike when he has two strikes. He chases so many curves and sliders at his ankles, there is no reason to throw him strikes.

  161. @DK, find out what song Jared Hughs is listening to in his head during his outings. After you see him walking around the mound, he looks like he is rocking out to something. Love it.

  162. If the Pirates lose tonight I may starve. I’ve been eating crow for a week.

  163. I’m not a big fan of NH, but you must admit, he the best assembler of bullprns ever. Bar none.

  164. pattonbb says:

    The Keystone Cops return.

  165. Rollins brings in the walk and now the Bucs are down 3-2, and Pedro drops the ball and we are still in the field.

  166. JRay3 says:

That was a catastrophe, first Barmes needed to keep running at runner as he threw too early, than Martin had to snap throw that Pedro did not hold onto.

  167. This was bound to hurt at some point tonight. WAY too many baserunners for the Phills. The Bucs little league play doesn’t help either.

  168. Thundercrack says:

This just seems to happen to Hughes a lot. He gets the first 2 batters rather easily, then he gives up a walk and the wheels fall off

  169. Cutch will be OK. No worries.

  170. scapper says:

So true. You learn how to handle those rundowns when you’re about 10 when someone’s dad yells at your during a cold April practice, “Run right at the man and make him commit, then throw to where he’s going!” Not so the Bucs! Take two steps and fire home.

Fundamentally inept top to bottom. Presley sliding past second (again) the other night…Marte cutting inside the base this weekend…botched rundown…yeesh.

  171. Twelve baserunners for the Phills so far while we only had 6. Tells the story right there.

  172. Their bull pen sucks, so we need to capitalize.

  173. Pedro has 2 hits in 3 AB.

  174. theplanisworking says:

The Pirates need a rally cap, rally monkey, rally Hippo, anything………

  175. We’ve had Pedro. We’ve had Martin. How about Barmes!

  176. Nope, just ANOTHER K.

  177. Thundercrack says:

We may have found our replacement for Barmes

  178. The Gunner says:

A bit of a neighborhood play by Pedro at 2B. At least the ump made a good call. And, how about the nice play our 38 year old SS made. John McDonald has a real good glove.

  179. radio wave says:

Came in late. Looking at the scoring a hit batter in a while Pitchford two other three runs, looks like the Pirates are trying to hand them this game.

  180. JRay3 says:

During a 162 game season you are going to lose games. But games like tonight are extremely frustrating when you have your ace on the mound and are taking on AAA pitcher who had 9+ ERA and is making first pro start….these are games you must find a way to win.

During course of the year there are always a few games you circle that you should have had and this maybe one of them.

  181. Thundercrack says:

    All the K’s bother me

  182. JRay3 says:

Going back to first inning how big is it now that Marte was left stranded at third with one out and Cutch up and he looks at a third called strike?

He can make up for it here leading off the ninth…let’s go Bucs.

  183. Cutch still shouldn’t have looked, but that was a bad call by the ump. He basically gave a rookie a call in his third batter in the majors.

  184. It was huge, though.

  185. At least AJ won’t get the loss for this mess, but he was his own enemy by walking people (two of them including the pitcher scored), and the bases loaded hit batsman to bring in the third.

  186. JRay3 says:

I agreeon the call, but with two strikes and infield playing back conceding the run, I wanted to see him protect the plate.

  187. For the Pirates, it was feast or famine against another rookie.

  188. theplanisworking says:

Never get the first out of any inning at third base.
Never look at a called third strike in the 9th.

    Oh well, better luck tomorrow…….

  189. True, and now Pedro looks at strike three to end this.

  190. JRay3 says:

Can’t leave your bat on your shoulder with RISP, that was the theme of the night, too many times key Pirates hitters looked at strike 3, got what we deserved this evening.

Get back at it tomorrow, but this leaves bad taste in the mouth.

  191. The road misery continues. Now 1-6 on the road this year. They need to change the water, food, curfew, or something to change this business. Still got three more against the Phills, but we missed a big opportunity tonight with AJ on the mound. We can still win the series, though. Have a good night all.

  192. pattonbb says:

Pedro was lost after that first pitch from Paplebon. That pitch should’ve landed about 50 feet over the cf fence.

  193. Technically I’m west of DC :)

  194. Thundercrack says:

I hope Pedro realized that we only needed a single at that point.

But I do give Paplebon credit. He pitched him tough – and that third strike was nasty.

  195. That made me chuckle…no comment :)

Thanks to all who played tonight.
