Pittsburgh sports talk with the Trib columnist

New WPXI-Trib sports TV show debuts TONIGHT

By Dejan Kovacevic | Trib Total Media

The joint venture between WPXI and Trib Total Media into sports TV begins tonight at 11:35 p.m. with the debut of The Final Word.

The discussion will be lively and informed, built on a rotation of WPXI and Trib personalities, but it also will be very heavy on contributions from you. We’ll be taking questions from viewers, including through videos you submit. We’ll also have a nonstop Twitter stream to get your views even while we’re giving ours.

Find out how to get your video on air on The Final Word’s Facebook page.

Or answer questions about the Steelers, Penguins, Pirates and Pitt on The Final Word’s Twitter account.

We also have WPXI’s live online stream for Pittsburgh’s many out-of-town sports fans, as well as video podcasts available on both outlets’ Web sites.

WPXI personalities participating tonight will be Alby Oxenreiter and Bill Phillips. The Trib will be represented by Rob Rossi and the guy typing all this.

Here’s a preview video from Alby.

Really hope to have you not only watching but also joining in!

  1. Justin in Ellwood City says:

Any chance we can get the great suckmeter on video?

DK: Yes. But sucks you’ll have to wait until Tuesday afternoon. Stay tuned.

  2. Karen22 says:

Best of luck, Dejan, on your new show debut. Doubt if I’ll be awake tonight to catch the action (up till 3 a.m. this morning stuffing wedding invitation envelopes!), but ya never know! :)

    DK: Thanks, Karen.

  3. Officer Mancuso says:

The link to the Twitter account requires a Facebook logon, and the WPXI video feed looks like it requires flash. Ever since my 2 year old Verizon HTC Thunderbolt (that’s 105 in phone years) automatically upgraded to the Ice Cream Sandwich flavor of the Android OS, I’ve been flashless.

DK: I fixed the Twitter link, Officer. Thanks!

  4. Karen22 says:

Geez, Officer, I think even “officers” can be arrested for flashing!

  5. Officer Mancuso says:

I’d like to arrest my phone.

  6. Officer Mancuso says:

Yep, best of luck. DK writes wonderful prose, has an ear for human interest angles, and is ahead of the technogical curve in an era where the pace of change accelerates faster than most people can stay imformed. Innovative roll outs are normally buggy. I see this one as worth sticking with.

  7. Drew71 says:

    “personalities” ?

  8. Ghost says:

    Tonight, tonight
    It all began tonight
I saw you and the world went away

  9. Drew71 says:

    I’ll bet.

  10. Ghost says:

Today the minutes seem like hours.
    The hours go so slowly,
And still the sky is light.
    Oh moon, grow bright,
And make this endless day endless night

  11. Chuck H says:

Good luck with the new TV show. Well, the Pirates finally made first place. They have been beating some tough teams in their rise to the top. I hope they continue to win the rest of their games on this roar trip, but next is Milwaukee, a team that always gave the Bucs fits. May it will be different this time. GO, BUCS!!!

  12. Brandie says:

You will do a bang up job. Best of luck!

    DK: Thanks!

  13. Break a leg tonite!!
Don’t forget us when you get a full time gig on Around-The-Horn.

  14. Ghost says:

Is this where we come to see you and DK streaking?

So then… we had a little competition in spring training between Locke and McPherson and it was Locke who won it. Even now it is still only April, but I’m thinking that was at least one meaningful outcome of spring training.

  15. Drew71 says:

    Dejan called.

He’s renaming the show The Naked Truth

  16. troy says:

So, how do we get the podcast of the show? I’ve looked all over both sites and have seen nothing. Thanks, Troy.

DK: Check new post, Troy. And thanks.
