Need one of you kind-spirited people to re-post this for me in the Saturday Game Thread. Thanks in advance!

    SATURDAY GAME LINE

Max “wager” is 100 units on any single line.
All “wagers” must be in multiples of 5 units.
Play as few or as many lines as you’d like.
As always, this is for fun and entertainment purposes.

    Tonight’s Line
Total RUNS SCORED by the Pirates in tonight’s game
    Line is 6.5

Posted for Playoffs. The Window is open!

  2. Lad9 says:

With Bedard on the bump, I gotta go all in on the over. 100 G’s Mr Playoffs. Thank you – Go Buccos!

  3. Reading says:

Watched the Pitt-Louisville game on ESPN U. Tough loss for the Panthers, bit Pitt’s catcher Soto looks like a great prospect.

  4. Battleship Bob says:

I know we are going against a lefty but I just don’t like this lineup as well without Alvarez and Jones in it

  5. Patrick(ri) says:

I am going to give a large and somewhat left-handed compliment to C H. His line – up shifts look more and more like T. laRussa’s. a compliment because Tony always seemed to have a team ready to come on at the 2/3 point in the season. The Prates of CH have wilted, to put it mildly. So, while I scratch my head at some of tonights starters, the larger goal may actually on our Mgr’s mind?

  6. Patrick(ri) says:

I forgot to add: or, he has just turned to his dog-eared L-R book.

  10. Bizrow says:

    100 on the over

    Thanks for posting for playoffs

  11. tdb1977 says:

I will go with 100 on the under for tonight. I have a feeling Bedard is going to come up with something to get back at his old team for cutting him last season. Really hope I am wrong and this one is over by the 4th or 5th inning tonight.

  12. js63 says:

Reading, did Pitt win yesterday? I assume this is a 3-game set, right?

  13. js63 says:

One of those nerdy numbers guys from up in the front office just came down and handed him the batter-pitcher career match-ups. I don’t envision doing a lot of that type of research on his own, but maybe I’m wrong.

  14. js63 says:

As much as I could not stand LaRussa, I would have loved him to manage our team at any point in his great career. He was the best for the last 25 years, or at least among the very best.

  15. theplanisworking says:

What, no Bay City Rollers???? ;)

  16. JAL says:

    To each their own :)

  17. Thundercrack says:

I want us to beat Bedard 12-0 tonight

  18. Thundercrack says:

Pedro : Hey Skip, how far do I have to hit the ball to keep my name in the lineup?

Clint: I’m not fooling around this year.

  19. Drew71 says:

I wonder if The Boys have coaxed their 1968 VW Minibus all the way to Ottawa yet.

Or if their Fartegnugen is broken down somewhere near Buffalo, smoking inside and out.

  20. theplanisworking says:

    S-A-T-U-R-D-A-Y-……….. Night!!!

God, the 70′s were some awful times……. Bay City Rollers, Polyester Leisure Suits, the Pinto. Wow, how did we ever survive???

  21. theplanisworking says:

If they are broken down by Buffalo, I am afraid those 4 would get mistaken for giant wings.
    Not pretty.

    ;)

  22. Kevin says:

    go Penguins!

  23. Patrick(RI) says:

That was the essence of my “left-handed” comment. Any kind words for Tony are hard to choke out.

  24. JAL says:

We are stronger than societal fads

  25. Kevin says:

    go ORB and Rosario!

  26. JAL says:

    They aren’t playing tonight

  27. Kevin says:

    go Pirates!***

  28. Thundercrack says:

    JAL,
I wonder if your comment would be considered to be finger-wagging by a Pirate fan?

    :-)

  29. JAL says:

    not only don’t i know, I don’t care

  30. js63 says:

Ok, got it. I was a bit slow on the uptake.

  31. Thundercrack says:

    +1

  32. Ghost says:

I like the lineup. And Pedro and Jones are available on the bench to enter the game when a righty comes in to bail out Bedard, which shouldn’t take too long to happen.

  33. radio wave says:

Playoffs: I will take 50 on the under for the game online today. Thank you

  34. cmat0829 says:

100 over. And I have to admit I was thinking we’d see Pedro in the lineup vs. this below-average LHP, but c’est la vie.

  35. js63 says:

Ok, got it. I was a bit slow on the uptake.

  36. JaxBuc says:

Please sir, may I have 100 on the OVER? Let’s put 10 on the board tonight!

  37. Ghost says:

Right about now they’re shrieking it up on the Maid of the Mist.

  38. radio wave says:

    +100

  39. Lad9 says:

Pitt got swept. Louisville wins the Big East outright

  40. js63 says:

I was wondering if Penguins fans ever wag their fingers … you know, since Penguins fans seem to be mutually exclusive of Pirates fans and vice versa.

It’s funny, though. Seems like a lot of people with the same names appear on the blog here for Penguins and Pirates topics.

Or, do we just become better people when we root for the local hockey team than when we root for the local baseball team?

Not trying to stir up trouble. I just think the whole topic is a bit odd with the obvious cross-over of a huge % of the fans.

  41. Lad9 says:

If disco didn’t kill us we certainly are!

  42. Drew71 says:

    Ah. Another Deliverance reference.

  43. Karen22 says:

75 – UNDER (although we should pound the bedard out of him!)

  44. Karen22 says:

Which means he’ll probably flirt with a shutout.

  45. theplanisworking says:

Doesnt he coach the Pens??? ;)

  46. js63 says:

Ouch! & now Pitt’s tourney hopes are in serious jeopardy, I assume. Oh wait, all NCAA selection committees love Pitt teams and will give them a great seed.

  47. Reading says:

A Pitt win today would have given Pitt a share of the Big East regular season championship. Pitt squandered numerous opportunities today.

  48. Karen22 says:

And he IS hitting lefties better than righties this year. And Bedard stinks. Go figure.

  49. JRay3 says:

Good afternoon to the window, a perfect day for a five game winning streak.

As for the line scoring seven in a game at the MLB leves is tough regardless of the opposition. I still think we have much success tonight though.

    100 on the UNDER

    Thanks and Let’s Go Bucs!

  50. JRay3 says:

Agreed on Alvarez especially as he was really zeroed in last night, Gaby Sanchez has been solid against lefties this year and Jones just does not hit against them, this will continue to happen in these situations and tough to find fault with it.

  51. Kevin says:

I’m not mutually exclusive O.O whatever that means. I like all piksburd sports.

  52. Keith says:

100 on the over. Bedard? Please. Thanks much.

  53. Jason81 says:

    100 on the OVER please.

  54. js63 says:

Too bad. L’Ville is great in just about every sport.

  55. js63 says:

If all goes well, we could be facing a different pitcher by the 4th or 5th, which means they may very well sub in if needed.

  56. js63 says:

    Haha!

  57. js63 says:

Didn’t realize you said the same thing I did, Ghost – only you said it a whole lot earlier!

  58. theplanisworking says:

    HIPPO HEY!!!

Its a great day to spank the Bedard out of the Astros tonight!!

But, he isnt really awful til about June.
And, I am sure there is motivation on his part tonight.

so, may I please have 50 Happy Hippos on the UNDER for tonight.

    Thank you.

  59. Keith says:

Things must be going well when you can bat Walker 7th.

  60. Lad9 says:

Good stuff!. And he DID kill me last year in the Flyer series.

  61. Frankie says:

Playoffs give me 50 on the under

  62. Joey Mellons says:

    100 under.

  63. Dadtackular says:

    $100 on the under

  64. Arriba Wilver says:

    50 UNDER, please.

  65. Arriba Wilver says:

    Elton John

  66. blazer says:

100 on the under for tonight please

  67. Arriba Wilver says:

Ah, now it’s making me think Little Miss Sunshine. I can see theses guys pushing the VW to get it started. And Rossi is Alan Arkin.

  68. +3

  69. Thanks to all for the congrats on the earlier thread.

Fattest baby I’ve ever seen. Looks like one of those Asian ones people post on Facebook.

  70. theplanisworking says:

Not as big as a Hippo. ;)

  71. Not yet. Rolls on arms, legs and cheeks, though. Her two sisters were tiny babies.

    :D

  72. Patrick(ri) says:

Now I am irritated. Blass and his partner discuss Astros switch to AL, and mention the “51 years” of rivalry — I still think of Houston as an expansion team. Sometimes reality bites!

  73. theplanisworking says:

I was a tiny baby too.

    18 inches, 5 pounds 12 ounces………. and I was born 3 weeks late!!!

    Now……….. well, nevermind……….

  74. JRay3 says:

Just admire the competitive nature of AJ, never panics always in control and once again wiggles out of a jam striking out two consecutively by just making pitches.

  75. Patrick(ri) says:

You really are lucky in Kentucky.

  76. JRay3 says:

Gaby Gaby Doo, monster double to left brings in Cutch as he continues to beat up LHP, early Bucco lead.

  77. Karen22 says:

Bedard throwing first pitch meatballs. Whack ‘em!!

  78. JRay3 says:

    I second that,Congrats @LuckynKentucky

  79. Bob Hasis says:

After a bobble like that, weak-armed Barmes eats it and takes an error

  80. Kevin says:

ah hah! another reason to dislike Bedard.. spends off-season in ottawa where he thinks and speaks in french (paraphrasing Walk).

  81. Patrick(ri) says:

kool &the Gang??? Didn’t they just have them? Can’t they get that guy who produces all the PBS Oldies shows to help them do better?

  82. Thanks. The best thing is none of them look like me.

    They are far too cute!

  83. Bob Hasis says:

Just one more Clint Who moment

  84. Arriba Wilver says:

Darn that Barmes. He’s so bad he can take an error when he’s on the bench and the game is errorless.

  85. Karen22 says:

    ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ…

  86. JohninOshkosh says:

I guess that makes Dejan the Greg Kinnear character and Josh the angst ridden Dwayne. Who is Olive, then?

    Great film, AW.

  87. JohninOshkosh says:

Looks like the boys stopped off at “pole fitness academy.”

My SAT’s weren’t good enough to get me in there.

    #OhCanada

  88. So Mercer now has a “strong” arm?

Someone said last week he had a weak one. That’s what you miss when you get only the highlights.

Is Hurdle mad at Barmes or something? He was starting to hit a little bit.

  89. JRay3 says:

How about a Cutch double to awaken things!

  90. JRay3 says:

Clint did say on the radio pre game show that if Mercer is here he is going to get some playing time. He also laughed that he was questioned for sending him down a week ago and now is being questioned for playing him.

  91. Dave G says:

Nice rip by Inge! Bucs up 2-1

  92. JRay3 says:

Brandon Inge two out RBI, and both Sanchez and Inge making contributions after being inserted in lineup today…..good guys back on top 2-1.

  93. Arriba Wilver says:

At the beginning of this game, it sure didn’t look like AJ would be pitching in the 7th.

  94. Brandie says:

Here’s hoping they hold on for the W.

  95. Dave G says:

Melancon is a bity off tonight. Game tied at 2

  96. Bob Hasis says:

Lucky, Lucky, Lucky, you know my statement says nothing of a strong arm for Mercer; just simply better than Barmes who would never have made the row.

And on Bedard’s bunt, Mercer got the relay to first to catch Bedard on the tail end.
Neither throw is in Barmes’ repertoire!

  97. Bob Hasis says:

Hopefully one day you will awaken – and see the truth

  98. Dave G says:

Almost forgot how these Bedard games take forever.

Bottom of the ninth, game over three hours old.

  99. Arriba Wilver says:

It would be nice if the Fort comes through. I’m sure he’s not feeling too good.

  100. Jandy says:

    Spunky a grandfather again?

  101. Thundercrack says:

I like Morris but he always seems to have someone on base

And yes, I seem to be fixated on relievers and 1-2-3 innings

  102. Jandy says:

well he got him to hit into a DP !!

  103. Brandie says:

    Evening Jandy.

  104. Jandy says:

hey Brandie! This game making you nuts?

  105. Ghost says:

Oh there you are. I had been wondering what you referencing. Gotta give your insightful comment a +10!

  106. Reading says:

Having to watch this gem on the MLB Game Mix channel on DirecTV due to non-availabilitu of Houston broadcast on DirecTV and blacking out of Pirates telecast on anything other than the Game Mix. Thus, after subjecting myself to seizure-inducing 7 games at once, a W better occur. As I type this, not looking good.

  107. Jandy says:

    are you kidding me?

  108. Reading says:

J.R. would not have gotten tossed.

  109. Thundercrack says:

    +1

I’m not sure JR would have woken up

  110. Dave G says:

‘Stros get 2 top of 11th. Rally time for the Bucs, down 4-2 mid 11th.

  111. Reading says:

Kind of embarrassing last few innings.

  112. Jandy says:

oh well, can’t win them all I guess

  113. Thundercrack says:

    Ron Cook is disgusted

  114. Jandy says:

    this is news?

  115. Karen22 says:

This game was a real stinker. Ron Cook isn’t the only one disgusted.

  116. Dave G says:

    Well, that sucked.

  117. Brandie says:

Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains…Let’s go Pens!

  118. Jandy says:

    crap happens

  119. Jandy says:

    Indeed!

  120. Dave G says:

“The Ottawa press continues to buzz about Jason Spezza skating back in Ontario, but the man’s been on the ice for all of a week after major back surgery — no such thing as minor back surgery — and has yet to have someone so much as breathe near him toward preparing for physical contact. Anyone who thinks Spezza’s coming back for this series is dreaming.” – DK

Spezza returns tomorrow night for the Senators.

  121. Jandy says:

    wow. just wow

  122. JohninOshkosh says:

    Anybody watching this LA/SJS game?

Essentially a must win for the Sharks. Very exciting, tight game with the Sharks playing in a state of desperation. Good stuff.

  123. Jandy says:

I’m turning it on, not sure how long I can stay awake lol

  124. JohninOshkosh says:

You are not a 4:00 AM riser on Sunday mornings too, are you Jandy?

  125. Jandy says:

No way! lol. But I busted my butt cleaning today and I’m wiped

  126. Dave G says:

Somewhat surprising, to say the least. Dejan made perfect sense with that comment.

  127. Jandy says:

    wow

  128. JohninOshkosh says:

What a finish! And it goes to OT!

Sharks will start OT with 2 man advantage.

    Jonathon Quick, Superstar

  129. Jandy says:

Quick looks good. sharks need this win tho

  130. Jandy says:

    sharks win
