  1. Playoffs by 2012 says:

    May 18, 2013 at 3:05 pm

Need one of you kind-spirited people to re-post this for me in the Saturday Game Thread. Thanks in advance!

Max “wager” is 100 units on any single line.
All “wagers” must be in multiples of 5 units.
Play as few or as many lines as you’d like.
As always, this is for fun and entertainment purposes.

    Tonight’s Line
Total RUNS SCORED by the Pirates in tonight’s game
    Line is 6.5

Posted for Playoffs. The Window is open!

  2. Watched the Pitt-Louisville game on ESPN U. Tough loss for the Panthers, bit Pitt’s catcher Soto looks like a great prospect.

  3. I know we are going against a lefty but I just don’t like this lineup as well without Alvarez and Jones in it

    • Agreed on Alvarez especially as he was really zeroed in last night, Gaby Sanchez has been solid against lefties this year and Jones just does not hit against them, this will continue to happen in these situations and tough to find fault with it.

      • If all goes well, we could be facing a different pitcher by the 4th or 5th, which means they may very well sub in if needed.

  4. I am going to give a large and somewhat left-handed compliment to C H. His line – up shifts look more and more like T. laRussa’s. a compliment because Tony always seemed to have a team ready to come on at the 2/3 point in the season. The Prates of CH have wilted, to put it mildly. So, while I scratch my head at some of tonights starters, the larger goal may actually on our Mgr’s mind?

    • I forgot to add: or, he has just turned to his dog-eared L-R book.

      • One of those nerdy numbers guys from up in the front office just came down and handed him the batter-pitcher career match-ups. I don’t envision doing a lot of that type of research on his own, but maybe I’m wrong.

    • As much as I could not stand LaRussa, I would have loved him to manage our team at any point in his great career. He was the best for the last 25 years, or at least among the very best.

  7. I want us to beat Bedard 12-0 tonight

  8. Pedro : Hey Skip, how far do I have to hit the ball to keep my name in the lineup?

Clint: I’m not fooling around this year.

  9. I wonder if The Boys have coaxed their 1968 VW Minibus all the way to Ottawa yet.

Or if their Fartegnugen is broken down somewhere near Buffalo, smoking inside and out.

  10. go Penguins!

  11. go ORB and Rosario!

  12. I like the lineup. And Pedro and Jones are available on the bench to enter the game when a righty comes in to bail out Bedard, which shouldn’t take too long to happen.

  13. Things must be going well when you can bat Walker 7th.

  14. 100 on the under for tonight please

  15. Thanks to all for the congrats on the earlier thread.

Fattest baby I’ve ever seen. Looks like one of those Asian ones people post on Facebook.

  16. Now I am irritated. Blass and his partner discuss Astros switch to AL, and mention the “51 years” of rivalry — I still think of Houston as an expansion team. Sometimes reality bites!

  17. Just admire the competitive nature of AJ, never panics always in control and once again wiggles out of a jam striking out two consecutively by just making pitches.

  18. Gaby Gaby Doo, monster double to left brings in Cutch as he continues to beat up LHP, early Bucco lead.

  19. Bedard throwing first pitch meatballs. Whack ‘em!!

  20. After a bobble like that, weak-armed Barmes eats it and takes an error

    • Darn that Barmes. He’s so bad he can take an error when he’s on the bench and the game is errorless.

      • So Mercer now has a “strong” arm?

Someone said last week he had a weak one. That’s what you miss when you get only the highlights.

Is Hurdle mad at Barmes or something? He was starting to hit a little bit.

        • Clint did say on the radio pre game show that if Mercer is here he is going to get some playing time. He also laughed that he was questioned for sending him down a week ago and now is being questioned for playing him.

        • Lucky, Lucky, Lucky, you know my statement says nothing of a strong arm for Mercer; just simply better than Barmes who would never have made the row.

And on Bedard’s bunt, Mercer got the relay to first to catch Bedard on the tail end.
Neither throw is in Barmes’ repertoire!

  21. ah hah! another reason to dislike Bedard.. spends off-season in ottawa where he thinks and speaks in french (paraphrasing Walk).

  22. kool &the Gang??? Didn’t they just have them? Can’t they get that guy who produces all the PBS Oldies shows to help them do better?

  23. Just one more Clint Who moment

  25. Looks like the boys stopped off at “pole fitness academy.”

My SAT’s weren’t good enough to get me in there.

  26. How about a Cutch double to awaken things!

  27. Nice rip by Inge! Bucs up 2-1

  28. Brandon Inge two out RBI, and both Sanchez and Inge making contributions after being inserted in lineup today…..good guys back on top 2-1.

  29. At the beginning of this game, it sure didn’t look like AJ would be pitching in the 7th.

  30. Melancon is a bity off tonight. Game tied at 2

  31. Almost forgot how these Bedard games take forever.

Bottom of the ninth, game over three hours old.

  32. It would be nice if the Fort comes through. I’m sure he’s not feeling too good.

  33. Spunky a grandfather again?

  34. I like Morris but he always seems to have someone on base

And yes, I seem to be fixated on relievers and 1-2-3 innings

  35. Having to watch this gem on the MLB Game Mix channel on DirecTV due to non-availabilitu of Houston broadcast on DirecTV and blacking out of Pirates telecast on anything other than the Game Mix. Thus, after subjecting myself to seizure-inducing 7 games at once, a W better occur. As I type this, not looking good.

  36. are you kidding me?

  37. J.R. would not have gotten tossed.

  38. ‘Stros get 2 top of 11th. Rally time for the Bucs, down 4-2 mid 11th.

  39. Kind of embarrassing last few innings.

  40. Ron Cook is disgusted

  41. This game was a real stinker. Ron Cook isn’t the only one disgusted.

  42. Well, that sucked.

  43. “The Ottawa press continues to buzz about Jason Spezza skating back in Ontario, but the man’s been on the ice for all of a week after major back surgery — no such thing as minor back surgery — and has yet to have someone so much as breathe near him toward preparing for physical contact. Anyone who thinks Spezza’s coming back for this series is dreaming.” – DK

Spezza returns tomorrow night for the Senators.

  44. Anybody watching this LA/SJS game?

Essentially a must win for the Sharks. Very exciting, tight game with the Sharks playing in a state of desperation. Good stuff.

  45. What a finish! And it goes to OT!

Sharks will start OT with 2 man advantage.

    Jonathon Quick, Superstar
