  3. Starling Marte seems to be running in soft sand and attacking pitches tentatively at the plate. Good time to let him relax on the bench for a game or two. Clear his head.

I wonder if Winter Ball is finally catching up to him.

I do not notice a significant difference in the way he is being pitched. Alex Presley needs to step up RIGHT NOW and prove he belongs in the Majors!

Thank you FOX Network for allowing me NOT to be able to watch tonight’s game…

Max “wager” is 100 units on any single line.
All “wagers” must be in multiples of 5 units.
Play as few or as many lines as you’d like.
As always, this is for fun and entertainment purposes.

Total Combined HITS + WALKS by Pedro Alvarez & Alex Presley in tonight’s game
    Line is 3.5

    GOOD LUCK!!!

  5. GO BUCS!!!!

I will be with the team in spirit……….. will be watching the PENS!
And will be on that thread.

Oh, and I see Pedro is “wise” again! ;)

  6. I’ll take 100 on the under for tonight. Fox is showing Yankee/Red Socks out here. Least the Pens will be on…

  7. The Phillies should teach their pitchers baserunning if they are going to use them to PR. Cliff Lee PRs and gets picked off. (I forget the circumstances) Today, Kendrick gets Josh Harrison’d as the tying run in the 9th.

  8. WOW !!!!!!!!!

I actually get to see the first hour of the game!
Fox didnt give us here the yanx sox for the millionth time!

    GO BUCS !!!!!!!

  9. Why does Fox, in the 21st Century, schedule like 4 or 5 games as “national” which pretty much means they are only see regionally within the markets that can watch the games anyway on local cable? I have no problem with Fox getting an exclusive window but they should go ahead and have ONE national game, maybe 2 at the most.

  10. hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!

Worthless Fox just switched to the yanks sox game.
    Unfriggin real!!!

    Oh well…………..
    GO BUCS !!!!!!!!!1

  11. What the He double hockey sticks I want to watch what was scheduled NOT Boston and Yanks. This is crapola!!! TEchinical specnical. I would rather watch commercials.

  12. im watching the game on “MLB GAMEDAY” 7 Ks in a ROW from Liriano?? Wow, his stuff must be electric

  13. WOW! 9 batters, 7 K’s, and ONLY 34 pitches! When, if ever, has a Bucco starter ever come close to that?

DK: LAST YEAR! Bedard did it vs. Cardinals.

    • its not sustainable, so settle down

    • im guessing a slight difference in the STUFF b/w Bedard and Liriano.

DK: Which has nothing at all to do with the specific issue Kevin raised.

      • right, i didnt offer it as a counterpoint, just an observation. Liriano seems to be hitting 95 and has a very effective slider going. Bedard more likely accomplished his with smoke and mirrors, though I dont’ recall the game.

  14. Fox did an in game interview with Homer Bailey. Dude was hilarious. Future MLB talking head I believe. And as an added bonus, we didn’t have to listen to Dusty.

  15. Best reason to watch the Pens tonight, the Pirates are playing on national TV in which they show other games and an interview with Homer while the Pirates are batting. What a waste of time when you wwant to watch the game. At least till the Pens game starts.

    • Where we will get in game interviews with the coaches also. Not defending Fox because baseball there is tough to watch, but it seems like the tv folks seem to think that is a necessity these days. Can you imagine what Lombardi, Noll, or Billy Martin would have done if someone stuck a mic in their faces during a time out?

  16. THAT is the Presley I remember…

  17. The Pirates may never score again.

  18. I miss Greg Ritchie.

  19. So I’m watching the Heat-Pacers game.
It appears 5 steps is no longer traveling in the NBA

  20. The pirates hitting is a crime. One run in 27 innings. They are so bad the pitchers are going to ask for their pen locker room so the pitiful ness doesn’t rub off on the pitching.

  21. The pirates hitting is a crime. One run in 27 innings. They are so bad the pitchers are going to ask for their own locker room so the pitiful ness doesn’t rub off on the pitching.

  22. Jason Bay with two 1 run homers tonight.

    Back to your regular programming.

  23. Wow, a clutch hit. Do you think any of the Pirates were paying attention to see how it’s done.

  24. Intent & conviction. Cutch didn’t seem to have either with that swing.

  25. When is the last time McCutchen had a clutch hit. Cutch has 27 RBIs and Cabrera has 63 an Hurdle would rather have Cutch bat third.

  26. The Over wins.

  27. MLB has to do something with all these visits the mound. Especially in the middle of at-bats. Way too many delays in the game

  28. 1st and 3rd nobody out……………. and got nothing.

  29. Well managed inning??? No but the gum tasted great!!!

    • How should the managing have been different?

      • I am dead set against bunting with the #3 hitter, but CH isn’t. So lay it down either for an attempt at a hit, or a sacrifice with the intent Presley can score and/or Walker moves up. The DP has been eliminated for #’s 4& 5.

This is one scenario of managing. You might say second guessing, and would probably be right, but in this instance we had to score something.

        • I’m saying a “safe” squeeze, with the unlikelihood Cutch bunts into a DP, and Walker gets to 2nd whether Presley can score or not. You know Broxton is a big man and doesn’t move real well – so if he would have to field a bunt several possibilities arise.

But CH did nothing, and the inning played itself out into a 0.

  30. Boy, it’s a Pittsburgh disease tonight. Neither team can score. Both losing 2 – 0.

  31. Everything is fine!!!!
    We will get them tomorrow!
Dont ever talk about improving the club!
    Enjoy the ride !!!

We need to win tomorrow. Seriously.

  32. Bad Steeler news this morning, and a double-shutout tonight.
Not my kind of Pittsburgh sports day.
We’ll move on and hope it gets better.

  33. morton just walked a guy, after a 10 pitch at bat.

    He’s out after 4 2/3

    86 pitches-49 strikes- 4 bb – 4 k’s- 1 hr allowed- 3 hits.

I think he needs another start or 2.

Again, if Gomez can’t go, do the Pirates recall Cole for the cub’s series?.
