  3. Starling Marte seems to be running in soft sand and attacking pitches tentatively at the plate. Good time to let him relax on the bench for a game or two. Clear his head.

I wonder if Winter Ball is finally catching up to him.

I do not notice a significant difference in the way he is being pitched. Alex Presley needs to step up RIGHT NOW and prove he belongs in the Majors!

Thank you FOX Network for allowing me NOT to be able to watch tonight’s game…

Max “wager” is 100 units on any single line.
All “wagers” must be in multiples of 5 units.
Play as few or as many lines as you’d like.
As always, this is for fun and entertainment purposes.

Total Combined HITS + WALKS by Pedro Alvarez & Alex Presley in tonight’s game
    Line is 3.5

    GOOD LUCK!!!

  15. Joey Mellons says:

    100 under.
    Lets go bucs and pens.

  16. Like I said, they must have been impacted for him to even had it done on a game day, then miss 2 games over it.

  17. theplanisworking says:

Bless him Father, for he has sinned………..

    I need a blessing too.
Isnt there a priest that blesses the animals?
    I need him!

  18. No knowledge of the priesthood. Sorry, brother.

  19. theplanisworking says:

    Its ok.

I still need all the help I can get……. ;)

  20. likeabugonarug says:

I don’t know about that, but I think The Carpenters sang “Bless the beasts, and the children”. Does that help?

And I did not stay in a Holiday Inn Express last night.

    Kevin

  21. Lad9 says:

Will reluctantly lay 100 on the under and be happy to be wrong (which means I should be happy a lot). Thank you Playoffs. Go Buccos and Pens!

  22. Bizrow says:

    Thanks, Chris, welcome

  23. JRay3 says:

Ya thanks FOX, stuck with Dbacks/Cubs out here.

    75 on the UNDER

    Thanks and Let’s Go Bucs!

  24. blazer says:

I’ll take 100 on the under for tonight. Fox is showing Yankee/Red Socks out here. Least the Pens will be on…

  25. JD says:

Yo Playoffs, I’ll take 100 on the over please.

    Go Bucs!

    Go PENS!!!

  26. JD says:

I have 2 aunts who are nuns and a cousin studying for the Priesthood. I’ll ask them.

  27. theplanisworking says:

    Mr. Playoffs………….

    100 on dee UNDER.

    Tanks. :)

  28. theplanisworking says:

Are they all staying at a Holiday Inn Express? ;)

  29. Arriba Wilver says:

100 on the OVER, please, Playoffs. I’m going with Biz. Pedro got a hit and walk off Leake last time, and Presley wants a job.

  30. JaxBuc says:

Please sir, may I have 50 soft sand units on the UNDER?

  31. JaxBuc says:

St Francis of Assisi is known for his love of animals and is patron saint of nature and animals, I believe.

So, in St. Francis’ name, “Bless you, Hippopondomus.”

  32. theplanisworking says:

    Thank You !!! :)

  33. cosmo says:

    100 under

  34. twentytwo22 says:

The Phillies should teach their pitchers baserunning if they are going to use them to PR. Cliff Lee PRs and gets picked off. (I forget the circumstances) Today, Kendrick gets Josh Harrison’d as the tying run in the 9th.

  35. cherokee23 says:

100 under if not too late

  36. theplanisworking says:

    WOW !!!!!!!!!

I actually get to see the first hour of the game!
Fox didnt give us here the yanx sox for the millionth time!

    YAY!!!

    GO BUCS !!!!!!!

  37. cmat0829 says:

Why does Fox, in the 21st Century, schedule like 4 or 5 games as “national” which pretty much means they are only see regionally within the markets that can watch the games anyway on local cable? I have no problem with Fox getting an exclusive window but they should go ahead and have ONE national game, maybe 2 at the most.

  38. theplanisworking says:

    hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!

Worthless Fox just switched to the yanks sox game.
    Unfriggin real!!!

    Oh well…………..
    GO BUCS !!!!!!!!!1

  39. MadTurk says:

What the He double hockey sticks I want to watch what was scheduled NOT Boston and Yanks. This is crapola!!! TEchinical specnical. I would rather watch commercials.

  40. cmat0829 says:

im watching the game on “MLB GAMEDAY” 7 Ks in a ROW from Liriano?? Wow, his stuff must be electric

  41. likeabugonarug says:

WOW! 9 batters, 7 K’s, and ONLY 34 pitches! When, if ever, has a Bucco starter ever come close to that?

    Kevin

DK: LAST YEAR! Bedard did it vs. Cardinals.

  42. cmat0829 says:

its not sustainable, so settle down

  43. cmat0829 says:

im guessing a slight difference in the STUFF b/w Bedard and Liriano.

DK: Which has nothing at all to do with the specific issue Kevin raised.

  44. cmat0829 says:

right, i didnt offer it as a counterpoint, just an observation. Liriano seems to be hitting 95 and has a very effective slider going. Bedard more likely accomplished his with smoke and mirrors, though I dont’ recall the game.

  45. 21sthebest says:

Obviously televising 4 or 5 games produces a larger audience than just televising 1.

  46. Lad9 says:

Fox did an in game interview with Homer Bailey. Dude was hilarious. Future MLB talking head I believe. And as an added bonus, we didn’t have to listen to Dusty.

  47. MadTurk says:

Best reason to watch the Pens tonight, the Pirates are playing on national TV in which they show other games and an interview with Homer while the Pirates are batting. What a waste of time when you wwant to watch the game. At least till the Pens game starts.

  48. Lad9 says:

Where we will get in game interviews with the coaches also. Not defending Fox because baseball there is tough to watch, but it seems like the tv folks seem to think that is a necessity these days. Can you imagine what Lombardi, Noll, or Billy Martin would have done if someone stuck a mic in their faces during a time out?

  49. Playoffs by 2012 says:

THAT is the Presley I remember…

  50. MadTurk says:

Not sure we can say what they would say or do on a family thread. :-)

  51. Drew71 says:

The Pirates may never score again.

    Ever.

  52. Playoffs by 2012 says:

    I miss Greg Ritchie.

  53. Drew71 says:

    Lionel, too.

  54. Playoffs by 2012 says:

    But not Todd.

  55. Playoffs by 2012 says:

So I’m watching the Heat-Pacers game.
It appears 5 steps is no longer traveling in the NBA

  56. Parrothead01 says:

The pirates hitting is a crime. One run in 27 innings. They are so bad the pitchers are going to ask for their pen locker room so the pitiful ness doesn’t rub off on the pitching.

  57. Lad9 says:

    +1 :))

  58. Parrothead01 says:

The pirates hitting is a crime. One run in 27 innings. They are so bad the pitchers are going to ask for their own locker room so the pitiful ness doesn’t rub off on the pitching.

  59. Arriba Wilver says:

Jason Bay with two 1 run homers tonight.

    Back to your regular programming.

  60. Parrothead01 says:

Wow, a clutch hit. Do you think any of the Pirates were paying attention to see how it’s done.

  61. Thundercrack says:

Intent & conviction. Cutch didn’t seem to have either with that swing.

  62. Parrothead01 says:

When is the last time McCutchen had a clutch hit. Cutch has 27 RBIs and Cabrera has 63 an Hurdle would rather have Cutch bat third.

  63. Arriba Wilver says:

    The Over wins.

  64. Thundercrack says:

MLB has to do something with all these visits the mound. Especially in the middle of at-bats. Way too many delays in the game

  65. theplanisworking says:

1st and 3rd nobody out……………. and got nothing.

  66. Parrothead01 says:

    Wow

  67. Bob Hasis says:

Well managed inning??? No but the gum tasted great!!!

  68. Thundercrack says:

How should the managing have been different?

  69. Parrothead01 says:

Boy, it’s a Pittsburgh disease tonight. Neither team can score. Both losing 2 – 0.

  70. theplanisworking says:

    Everything is fine!!!!
    We will get them tomorrow!
Dont ever talk about improving the club!
    Enjoy the ride !!!

We need to win tomorrow. Seriously.

  71. Bob Hasis says:

I am dead set against bunting with the #3 hitter, but CH isn’t. So lay it down either for an attempt at a hit, or a sacrifice with the intent Presley can score and/or Walker moves up. The DP has been eliminated for #’s 4& 5.

This is one scenario of managing. You might say second guessing, and would probably be right, but in this instance we had to score something.

  72. Bob Hasis says:

I’m saying a “safe” squeeze, with the unlikelihood Cutch bunts into a DP, and Walker gets to 2nd whether Presley can score or not. You know Broxton is a big man and doesn’t move real well – so if he would have to field a bunt several possibilities arise.

But CH did nothing, and the inning played itself out into a 0.

  73. Steelag70 says:

I’ve been saying that about Cutch for a few games now…no clutch hits…

  74. Daquido_Bazzini says:

Bad Steeler news this morning, and a double-shutout tonight.
Not my kind of Pittsburgh sports day.
We’ll move on and hope it gets better.

  75. tomp says:

morton just walked a guy, after a 10 pitch at bat.

    He’s out after 4 2/3

    86 pitches-49 strikes- 4 bb – 4 k’s- 1 hr allowed- 3 hits.

I think he needs another start or 2.

Again, if Gomez can’t go, do the Pirates recall Cole for the cub’s series?.
