  3. Pucknutz says:

    That’s “Drop the PUCK” !!!!

    GO PENS!!!!

  4. JohninOshkosh says:

Where is that “Always Yankees/Red Sox” criticism today.

Big city Chicago and glamorous big city LA play the matinee game on the pay channel network while Pittsburgh and Boston get the prime time/good for taverns slot on the good ole venerable free Network.

Says something about hockey demos, doesn’t it ?

  5. MadTurk says:

Let’s go already drop the PUCK! I hate wishing the weekend time away.

  6. theplanisworking says:

    Oshee………..

I cant make out your avatar, even when I enlarge it.

Is that Abe Vigoda? aka “Fish”?

  7. theplanisworking says:

    Agreed.

I was a baby Hippo the last time they played………. ;)

  8. JohninOshkosh says:

Yep. Milo nailed it last night with the great Sal Tessio quote from “The Godfather.”

  9. “It was only business, Michael.”

  10. theplanisworking says:

Well, after an eternity, the Pens and Broonz FINALLY will play.

Have been reading many things about this series, some valid, some just way out there, so here is the Simple(ton) Hippo’s thoughts on the series…………

The Chara matchup cannot be overlooked. Normally, you send the #1 dman against the opponents best center……….. but Sid’ line will punish Chara, with both speed and the d-pairings physically beating on him. This of course means Boston may move Chara to face Geno’s line, but that frees Sid’s line. Not an easy decision for Boston.

Disco Duck might want to pair Sid against Chara every opportunity he gets. I know Disco isnt a big fan of adjustments, but sometimes you have to.

I have also read about how great Boston’s D is. Ottawa had the best regular-season defense, and the Pens made short work of it. People keep saying they are of Vokoun’s rebounds……….. that is an issue for most goalies. As long as the Pens clear the crease, it shouldnt be a problem. If they dont, well, of course it might be a problem.

And lastly, the issue of Tuuuuuuuuukkkkkkkaaaaa Rask is upon us. He has had a good playoffs so far………… facing 2 very challenged offensive clubs. Rask has a history of imploding (see 2010 playoffs against Philthy), has a history of angry meltdowns, and most importantly, he isnt a good goalie side-to-side. I remember one of the games against Boston this year, and the Pens scored 2 or 3 quick goals against him by going side-to-side in the offensive zone. Many people have forgotten about that due to the Leafs, and Rangers being his first 2 opponents.

I dont think this series will be easy, but I dont see it as the challenge many do.
I think at the end of the day, the Pens have too much firepower from too many players to be stopped.
I see the Pens winning in 6.
If they can rattle Rask, it may be in 5.

    GO PENS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  11. theplanisworking says:

Man, now I am having “Barney Miller” flashbacks……..

  12. Dave G says:

    LET’S GO PENS!

    Can’t Wait!

  13. JohninOshkosh says:

I see Arriba Wilver switched his avatar to Brando.

A lot of Godfather fans on the blog.

I’ll try not to betray AW!

  14. JohninOshkosh says:

Hope your fence and hot tub are OK.

  15. theplanisworking says:

Guess we just need a Pacino avatar and we will be good?

  16. KenKopp says:

    Go Pens! Go Bucs!

Less than four hours to go. Man I hope everyone sits back occasionally and appreciates what we have in this team. It is loaded with talent. Talent that we probably won’t see together on the Pens in our lifetime. Just The Captain and Geno are more than a city could hope for.

  17. One team shouldn’t be any “rustier” than the other, right?

    Cream rises.

    Pens in 5, maximum 6.

That from a know-nothing-about-hockey, lifetime baseball and football guy.

  18. JohninOshkosh says:

    Panger doing the Hawks game!

  19. likeabugonarug says:

    T-minus 3 Hours, 10 minutes and counting…..

    Kevin

  20. JohninOshkosh says:

    Jim Cornelison, Rock God!

  21. Bizrow says:

My thoughts exactly, regarding the series.

So, you know we are wrong ;-)

  22. Sarah says:

Shots are like 14-3 for CHI, but LAK up 1-0.
For anyone that thinks average goaltending behind great offense can get it done this time of year.

  23. Sarah says:

Well I am not sure i agree with you’re Rask.
IMO he’s been stellar this year.
Doesn’t mean the Pens might not light him up.

  24. Pucknutz says:

Pretty good thoughts there plan. Just about the way I see it for the most part.

Really agree with you last paragraph. The Pens are just too deep and have too many guys that want that Cup very much. I don’t think Boston can keep up w/them for too long.
    6, maybe 5 .

    GO PENS !!!

    Drop the puck already !!!!

  25. JohninOshkosh says:

Are you calling out TV, Sarah ?

  26. Sarah says:

Wow you guys are WAY more confident about this series than I am.
    Hope you’re right!

  27. Sarah says:

No. As I said before, I’d first have to see how the Pens and TV manage the Bruins heavy forecheck, when rebound control and net front covg has been a weakness thus far.

I do believe that goaltending is A HUGE differentiator this time of year. As we are seeing now in Chi. This game could be 3-1 Hawks right now but thanks to Quick, it isn’t.

The question IMO is whether the Pens offense can make up for any defensive deficiencies they may have.

I do not believe that TV will outplay any G left in the playoffs. But if the Pens O is up to the task, that may not matter.

  28. JohninOshkosh says:

Oh, oh. Milbury not that impressed with TV. That means he will be a wall in the series. :)

DK: Milbury wasn’t impressed with Chara, either, when he gave him away.

  29. JohninOshkosh says:

Good stuff here, as always Sarah. But the Pens beat the B’s all three games this year. I know they say playoff hockey is different, but I don’t necessarily buy that. I think it gives the Pens a lot of confidence especially against the B’s young defense. Boston’s goalie can be had, mentally, and I think the Pens, especially Crosby, are superior at the head games.

I think the Pens will sweep or win in five. I’m also not going to panic if they lose tonight. I listened to the Hawks coverage a lot, and they had a lot of confidence they could beat Detroit, even when they were down 3-1. Pittsburgh is a special team. I think they have that similar inner confidence.

  30. JohninOshkosh says:

I absolutely love the Consul parking lot assembly. Quickly becoming one of my favorite things in sport.

  31. We might hit it. Neither of us is DK, right?

    :-o

  32. BillyBaduka says:

    LET’S GO PENS!!!!

  33. Sarah says:

Indeed John! It gives me hope!
But we did not beat BO’S by swamping them with goals….I think it was 3-2, 2-1, 2-1…..
    So…defensive battles basically. All 1-goal games….
It shows we CAN do it.

But I don’t see us lighting up the Bs for 4.5 goals a game or whatever our crazy avg is….

Love to be proved wrong! :-D

  34. Pucknutz says:

Ya John, my gut is telling me that the Pens are indeed a “special team” – “inner confidence”.

Your points are well taken Sarah, but my gut keeps sayin Cup, Cup, Cup. Hope it is correct!!!

    GO PENS !!!

  35. Pucknutz says:

I do believe that goaltending is A HUGE differentiator this time of year

Agree, and just to stir the pot, if TV poops the bed – we still have Mr. Flower sittin on the bench. In spite of his less than stellar play early on – he aint just chopped liver!!!

  36. Arriba Wilver says:

I thought about being Luca Brasi. But I loved Brando the actor.

  37. Sarah says:

Yep. Guess we’re back to that dead horse lol!
    How long is Vokouns leash?

I think LONG, given they’ve made no attempt to get MAF any reps. Feel like they intend to stick w TV.

  38. Sam says:

    Bowie, MD

  39. Eric Bowser says:

Pens AHL affiliate in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton is fielding the team’s future blue line with Derrick Pouliot, Olli Maatta, Brian Dumoulin, Scott Harrington, Phil Samuelsson, and veteran Joey Mormina.

  40. jav827 says:

    Roanoke VA

  41. jav827 says:

    Roanoke VA

  42. theplanisworking says:

With all due respect, Sarah, you are concerned about TV and his rebounds?

I would rather take my chances with TV, than see a flopping fish imitation by MAF.

Vokoun’s steady presence will be much better against the Broonz than MAF.

Of the remaining 4 goalies, Quick is obviously the best.
I like TV at #2. He is not spectacular, but he is good. And, since he is not prone to meltdowns and implosions like Rask, I will take my chances with TV.

  43. Eric Bowser says:

No idea if this will be official lineup but here is goes

    Pittsburgh Penguins
    Forwards
    Kunitz – Crosby – Dupuis
    Iginla – Malkin – Neal
    Cooke – Sutter – Kennedy
    Morrow – Jokinen – Adams

    Defensemen
    Orpik – Martin
    Eaton – Letang
    Murray – Niskanen
    * a lot of talk about Engelland getting some action, I think that would be stupid… hoping.

    Goalies
    Starter Vokoun
    Backup Fleury

    Boston Bruins lineup
    Forwards
    Lucic – Krecji – Horton
    Marchand – Bergeron – Jagr
    Peverley – Kelly – Seguin
    Paille – Campbell – Thornton

    Defensemen
    Chara – Seidenberg
    Bartkowski – Boychuk
    Krug – McQuaid
    * Ference isn’t expected to return tonight

    Goaltenders
    Starter Rask
    Backup Khodobin

  44. Pucknutz says:

Holding my breath waiting for 7:24 – DK and Albi – 11 on the ice!!!

Whats the line on if he has a tie on or not???? LOL

    DK: Ties lose.

  45. Eric Bowser says:

    By the numbers (playoff)

Goals per game: PIT 4.27 BOS 3.17
Goals against per game: PIT 2.54 BOS 2.33
    PP%: PIT 28.3% – BOS 21.9%
    PK%: PIT 89.7% – BOS 81.1%
Shots per game: PIT 33.1 – BOS 38.2
Shots against per game: PIT 33.4 – BOS 32.6
    Hits: PIT 319 BOS 474
    Blocks: PIT 203 BOS 185
    Faceoffs: PIT 50.1% – BOS 57.5%

  46. Sarah says:

Concerned about his loss of the puck in his pads and skates.
I hadn’t mentioned MAF in that regard. It’s moot, he’s not playing barring injury or implosion by Vokoun.

Not sure what implosions by Rask you’re referring to, but I cannot agree TV is 2nd only to Quick in these playoffs.

  47. Pucknutz says:

Jaggin ya, but you knew that. Actualy looked pretty good !!! LOL

  48. Eric Bowser says:

    Storylines to watch during series

    1) Can Rask handle the offensive pressure he’s about to face against the Penguins
    2) How do Bylsma and Julien handle match ups with Crosby, Malkin, Chara and Bergeron
    3) Iginla’s decision and how does he perform with pressure to succeed
    4) Will we see Malkin and Neal get taken off their game with physical stuff after whistle
    5) Can Jagr step up his game against former team

  49. Pucknutz says:

1 If they get to him early, might be a rout.
2 Matchups may not that big a factor, Pens depth may negate them.
    3 Iggy is a pro.
4 Hopefully they will just skate away.
5 Jagr can still be a force, scares me a bit.

    GO PENS !!

  50. Brandie says:

    Superbly seconded.

  51. theplanisworking says:

    2 best pre-games in all of hockey…………

    1) Jim Cornelison singing in Chicago
    2) Penguins coming out from the tunnel.

    Goosebumps!

  52. Eric Bowser says:

I think Crosby line loves match up against Chara… what a start

  53. JohninOshkosh says:

    …and so it begins.

  54. Brandie says:

1992 for me…senior in high school.

  55. JohninOshkosh says:

    +
Guy in Ottawa is awful special as well.

  56. Eric Bowser says:

    1-0 Bruins
Krejci slap shot between Vokoun’s pads slips through into the net as Eaton was sun tanning on the ice.

  57. Brandie says:

Unfortunate that the Bruins scored the first goal.

  58. Eric Bowser says:

    oh wait, make that Martin.

  59. Sarah says:

    Ugly

  60. theplanisworking says:

    Brandie!!!

  61. JohninOshkosh says:

They play for 60 minutes, folks.

  62. J Walter Weatherman says:

Getting good chances, just not hitting their spots on the shots. It would be really nice to see Sutter produce some offense in this series.

  63. J Walter Weatherman says:

Niskanen is really struggling. I continue to believe Despres should be playing in his place.

  64. Brandie says:

    What it is, Hipposter!

  65. Sarah says:

Has Nisky been not the same since he got whaled on in that fight v NYI?

  66. Eric Bowser says:

No way Boston wins this game with 1 goal and Pens able to control the puck in the offensive zone and get that many good scoring chances.

  67. theplanisworking says:

    Good to have you here.
Jandy may not make it, so YOU will have to be the one that sends the good vibes!

  68. Brandie says:

    I’m on it!

  69. Brandie says:

    Amen to that!

  70. theplanisworking says:

    After one period………………

Good solid hockey from both teams that period.
Pens PP looks stale….. they are just standing around, instead of shooting the puck. :(

Pens havent done much to shake Rask……….. I still say going east-west is a key to beating him.
Look at that last series of the period……… Rask looked shaky going side to side, and alsmost let a goal in.

Niskanen may be scared …….. maybe that is the wrong word…… but something isnt right with him.

  71. Eric Bowser says:

Exactly, he’s been bad since that shot.

  72. theplanisworking says:

    :)

  73. MadTurk says:

TV playing as well as he does. To bad the redirect by Martin laying on the ice. But he was trying to block it so some credit there.

  74. theplanisworking says:

    Agreed Eric.

    Boston’s D doesnt scare me.

  75. Sarah says:

Yeah I don’t think Bs have a prayer if it stays this wide open.
    Poor D at both ends.
    Odd mans at both ends.

Exciting to watch if you’re not a coach lol!

  76. Jandy says:

    welcome you two :)

  77. Jandy says:

Truer words were never spoken !

  78. Brandie says:

Pens need to play their game…responsible D, responsible offense, and do not try to get cute. Keep knocking on the door…don’t hang Vokoun out to dry…he can only do so much.

  79. Brandie says:

Holy cow!!!! Mother Jandy….How have you been?

  80. J Walter Weatherman says:

A game misconduct is a bit harsh there. Penalty, yes. He got kicked out because he’s Matt Cooke.

  81. Jandy says:

That just friggin pissed me off! Grrrr!!!!

  82. Sarah says:

Dumb play by Cookie tho. No reason for that.

  83. theplanisworking says:

I didnt see the whole thing…….. did they give Cooke a 5 minute major???

  84. theplanisworking says:

    Jandy!!!!!

  85. Jandy says:

I think the Bruin he hit should get an Oscar

  86. Jandy says:

    Hipposter!!!!!! :)

  87. theplanisworking says:

    They kicked him out????????

    You are kidding me!

  88. theplanisworking says:

That penalty (match penalty) was bogus !!!

  89. Jandy says:

Just pisses me off…just because he is Matt Cooke

  90. Jandy says:

The interference penalty on Sid was BS, so was the one on Brooksie. Now this. makes me paranoid

  91. Jandy says:

I’ve seen Tanger and Eaton absorb much worse and skate away

  92. Brandie says:

If you are Matt Cooke, you can’t do that. Everyone is waiting for you to do something that, in the opinion of some, smacks a little bit of impropriety, so they can pounce. Just what I was concerned about.

  93. theplanisworking says:

You are not implying Bettman wants an Original Six Final, do you??

  94. Sarah says:

PK turning the tide I hope….

  95. Barb says:

I am having a hard time watching this game especially when the officiating is well…..words escape me. Matt Cooke deserved to be penalized but not thrown out of the game.

  96. Brandie says:

Where is Eugene CSI Melnyk when you need him to espouse a juicy conspiracy theory.

  97. Jandy says:

Bettman can suck my big toe after I step in dog doo

  98. Jandy says:

    That was a superb effort

  99. radio wave says:

A caller to a Boston radio show this morning said if Coke were the son of God, he call or would become an atheist.

  100. Jandy says:

    +1

  101. theplanisworking says:

    Jandy !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  102. Brandie says:

    That’s just sick!

  103. Jandy says:

    lol that’s funny

  104. theplanisworking says:

    Too funny!

  105. Barb says:

    OMG!

  106. Jandy says:

    0=)

  107. Kevin says:

I agree harsh. NBC also really played up the “it’s Matt Cooke” factor. That hit happened 20 times in the past season. The d retrieves the puck then faces the boards. It’s like he’s setting himself up to get boarded. I know I’m a homer but that hits not all on Cooke.

  108. Barb says:

    Let’s hope Sarah!

  109. Jandy says:

It expresses how I view Bettman

  110. theplanisworking says:

Tell us how you really feel!

  111. Drew71 says:

I love everything about this game except the score.

  112. Jandy says:

OK…we’ll make it a BIG pile of dog doo ;)

  113. Jandy says:

Makes two of us, Drew. We just can’t catch a friggin break.

  114. theplanisworking says:

Say 100 Hail Jandys, and wash your feet! ;)

  115. JohninOshkosh says:

Lets score on this power play fools.

  116. theplanisworking says:

On this PP, they have to move and shoot !!!!

  117. Barb says:

    Absolutely.

  118. Brandie says:

    Score is a bummer.

  119. J Walter Weatherman says:

I cannot believe they haven’t scored. Snakebit.

  120. Jandy says:

Nah I’ll step in another pile ;)

  121. Brandie says:

    Are you channeling Mr. T.?

  122. Jandy says:

Malkin is throwing some serious hits here…wow

  123. JohninOshkosh says:

    Yes.

  124. Sarah says:

They are hanging Vokoun out to dry here. Good Lord.

  125. Jandy says:

    yes they are…slap them!

  126. Kevin says:

Wasn’t that interference on Marchand on that 2 on 0

  127. theplanisworking says:

    I Pity Da Fool !!!!

  128. JohninOshkosh says:

    Patrice Bergeron muffs the breakaway.

  129. Drew71 says:

I’ll bet Dejan jumped right out of his face paint.

  130. theplanisworking says:

    They wont call it.
If a Penguin would have done it, well…………..

  131. Jandy says:

hope he didn’t spill his Starbucks

  132. Jandy says:

    Thank Goodness

  133. theplanisworking says:

    Or his pom-poms. ;)

  134. Eric Bowser says:

Pens PP is in giving mood, too much standing around and Boston has had some chances while SH.

  135. JohninOshkosh says:

It’s hard to hold those cups with those big “Number one” foam fingers as well.

  136. theplanisworking says:

Hard to type with them, too. :)

  137. Kevin says:

Don’t really understand how Marchand gets away with that crap but orpik got called for brushing his hand on a bruin.

  138. Jandy says:

    precisely

  139. JohninOshkosh says:

    Or tie a tie apparently.

  140. Arriba Wilver says:

Agree. It’s a really good game.

Do you want to use Fredo as an avatar? He liked the beach. Well, except that last time in the boat.

  141. florida steeler says:

Matt Cooke hurts this team and Kunitz and Niskanen need to take an early seat on the bench.

  142. theplanisworking says:

    Or tie a loss……………

  143. Kevin says:

What bothers me is the penguins look rusty.. Finding posts or missing the net on shots. Making Rask look way better than he really is. Feel like we just need a lucky bounce just to find the back of the net.

  144. Jandy says:

we’ll suit you up and you can play

  145. Sarah says:

TV with a poke on Berg’s stick I think

  146. Jandy says:

Dejan and tie don’t go together.

  147. Sarah says:

I think a week off is showing rust on both sides…..

  148. JohninOshkosh says:

    Yes. Outstanding play.

  149. theplanisworking says:

Neither do Hippos and Starbucks……. ;)

  150. Jandy says:

Arriba is here , the Pens will score

  151. Jandy says:

    lol

  152. Jandy says:

THAT hit is worse than Cookie’s!

  153. JohninOshkosh says:

    Same hit says Regis.

  154. Jandy says:

    OK now, conspiracy theory?

  155. theplanisworking says:

Ok, now I know the fix is in………..

Marchand only got 2 minutes, no game misconduct for the EXACT same hit!!!

  156. Sarah says:

    Huge PP

  157. Kevin says:

Was really hoping they’d kick out Marchand.

  158. Barb says:

    His last name isn’t COOKE!

  159. theplanisworking says:

    Yep.

    No consistency!

  160. Jandy says:

    in your dreams

  161. Kevin says:

Rather lucky than good for Rask. Penguins just can’t find net.

  162. Barb says:

What do you think the NHL is going to do to Cooke the rest of the series? Is he a goner?

  163. JohninOshkosh says:

Gonna be a fun third period, boys and girls.

  164. J Walter Weatherman says:

There you go Geno! Although I’d like to see him out there on the PP.

  165. Jandy says:

    hell yeah

  166. Kevin says:

I assure you. My dreams are much much worse. Fantastical and kinda evil. They should just kick everyone out at this point.

  167. theplanisworking says:

    Great point.

  168. Barb says:

    CHIPPY, CHIPPY, CHIPPY! Go Pens!

  169. Jandy says:

    Malkin is really pissed

  170. Jandy says:

Same goes for Marchand, the tool

  171. florida steeler says:

You are such a homer!!! No WAY was that close to Cooke’s cheap shot.

  172. Arriba Wilver says:

    +1

  173. J Walter Weatherman says:

All this makes for entertaining hockey. Not good signs for the Pens though. Smells a lot like Philly series. This team is better, so hopefully they can tighten up and not let the Bruins get under their skin.

Not sure how much I like the Crosby nudge on Rask. That’s exactly the type of play that fans outside of Pittsburgh point to when they complain about Crosby.

  174. Kevin says:

Atleast iginla will finally get to play on top pp. who all else been kicked to the bin besides malkin?

  175. Jandy says:

Didn’t I see Rask slash the back of Sid’s legs???

  176. theplanisworking says:

    After 2 periods………………

Pens PP is just not working. They have to make Rask move, not just shoot once and let him cover it up.

D needs to step it up also. Vokoun was left to dry multiple times in that period.

I wont even comment on the refs with their calls of Cooke vs. Marchand penalties. Everyone saw it.

I dont know what to make of the end of the period scrum.
It could be a good thing, and fire up the Pens.
It could be a bad thing, as they might lose composure.

This is starting to remind me of the Philthy series last year…………. Broonz are getting under our skins.

    Need to bury some pucks!!!!

  177. Kevin says:

Neal didn’t lay on the ice long enough I guess.

  178. Barb says:

Agreed. The talking heads on NBC think he will be back next game. We’ll see.

  179. Barb says:

Yes you did because I saw it too.

  180. Jandy says:

    lol

  181. J Walter Weatherman says:

Crosby hit him first; Rask then retaliated; Crosby got last slash.

  182. Brandie says:

See one of my lists above.

  183. Brandie says:

    Posts not lists.

  184. Sarah says:

    No suspension for Cooke.

  185. Jandy says:

No way Sid does that without reason…something was done earlier

  186. Sarah says:

Do NOT get in a fight with a bum shoulder Malkin. Cripes, pick up the clue phone.

  187. Jandy says:

    that’s what I said. lol

  188. theplanisworking says:

Jandy, I will do it for you………….

  189. Brandie says:

To borrow from Star Trek, The Next Generation…Make it So!

  190. J Walter Weatherman says:

I’d like to have that much faith in Sid, but I don’t. He’s prone to “gamesmanship”. Maybe Rask did do something earlier … don’t know. Just know what I saw at the end of the period.

  191. theplanisworking says:

I see Cooke gone for the rest of the playoffs……………

Marchand will get a congratulatory phone call from Bettman.

  192. florida steeler says:

Being objective is not in Jandy’s vocabulary.

  193. Jandy says:

    see my post above…

  194. Jandy says:

Brandie, missed chatting with you. Hope all is going ok for you girl.

  195. theplanisworking says:

  196. theplanisworking says:

I had her give the Pens good vibes in your absence. :)

  197. theplanisworking says:

For those not watching/following the Bucs……………..

bottom of the 8th, 1st and 3rd, nobody out………………. didnt score.
    2-0 Reds.

  198. Jandy says:

we ALL need to send good vibes for the Pens

  199. Barb says:

Just heard the Malkin and Bergeren received fighting majors.

  200. florida steeler says:

If you are tired–go to bed. the two of you think this is your personal webpage. Give us a break.

  201. Jandy says:

    crap, I HATE the reds

  202. theplanisworking says:

    Take your own advice.
We just happen to be fans, not haters.

    Grow up, please.
    Good night.

  203. Drew71 says:

This does not remind me of last year’s series at all. Pens are winning every aspect of this game except the score. Last season, Philly was the better team, at least during that series.

  204. Jandy says:

we have enough depth to fill in for Malkin. Does Boston for Bergevin?

  205. florida steeler says:

Be objective for once in your life. Matt Cooke is a filthy hockey player.

  206. Drew71 says:

That makes the 47th consecutive inning without a Pirates run.

  207. JohninOshkosh says:

I’m just not going to complain about officiating.

Sorry but NHL refs are the best hockey refs in the world. They have to deal with players possessing tremendous talent and speed, who are also skilled at staging flops and confusing issues with theatrics . All with inconsistent directives from the league.

I used to ref high school level and that was hard enough. I would also say that the best refs at that level, which would make them the best refs in the state, could not hold a candle to the NHL refs.

  208. Jandy says:

    well that bites

  209. Jandy says:

I can respect that, OshKosh…so you can let me do the complaining :)

  210. Drew71 says:

Didn’t Michael Corleone have you whacked?

  211. Barb says:

    We’re 0′fer on the PP again! :(

  212. JohninOshkosh says:

    Ha!

  213. JohninOshkosh says:

    It’s just business.

  214. Sarah says:

Agreed. Tremendously difficult game to ref.

  215. Brandie says:

Let’s send extra good vibes. By the way…I have been camping at a lot of music festivals.

  216. Jandy says:

That’s an even bigger problem than the refs

  217. theplanisworking says:

Drew, it reminds me of the Flyers series in that they are getting under our skin.
    Thats all.

  218. Jandy says:

    This game is toast

  219. Sarah says:

    Wow

  220. J Walter Weatherman says:

Unreal. They’re getting all bounces. Pens aren’t. It Happens. Bad play by Eaton though.

  221. Jandy says:

sounds like a lot of fun :)

  222. Sarah says:

Shades of that goal of Lunquists mask….all that grinding by the Bs….
Too bad TV missed that stop behind the net in the dumpin….

  223. Drew71 says:

    Got it.

  224. Jandy says:

    look in the mirror, dude

  225. JohninOshkosh says:

How are the Riverhounds doing ?

    lol

  226. Jandy says:

OK this is just sad now

  227. theplanisworking says:

Cant win if your D isnt around. :(

  228. Tim says:

    Boy. They suck

  229. Brandie says:

Time to regroup. Hanging TV out to dry yet again.

  230. theplanisworking says:

    +1

  231. J Walter Weatherman says:

Our hockey team can’t score, our baseball team can’t score, our Offensive Linemen are getting stabbed!!

We got no jobs, we got no money, our pets HEADS ARE FALLIN OFF!!

  232. Jandy says:

    tootsie pops?

  233. Brandie says:

    Fire Pepto Bylsma!

  234. florida steeler says:

they are getting their heads handed to them. Getting outplayed the entire game. Bylsma better wake up.

  235. Jandy says:

Here, now, let’s be OBJeCTIVe about this…

  236. Sarah says:

Simply inexcusable lack of coverage around the net.

  237. Jandy says:

    lol

  238. Drew71 says:

Pirates strand two in the bottom of the ninth. Lose 2-0.

  239. Jandy says:

    sad

  240. J Walter Weatherman says:

  241. Jandy says:

    damn…any bridges nearby? ;)

  242. Jandy says:

Thanks for proving my point ;)

  243. theplanisworking says:

    dubble lol

  244. Jandy says:

    *was

  245. theplanisworking says:

…………there is a certain troll on this thread we should push off said bridge……

  246. JohninOshkosh says:

    I hate the Reds.

  247. Jandy says:

suck my big toe after I step in dog doo,

  248. Drew71 says:

    Outplayed the ENTIRE game?

    Now, yes. Obviously.

But you and I must have watched a different game for the first two periods.

  249. theplanisworking says:

    Well said.

  250. Jandy says:

break room is down the hall…

  251. Thundercrack says:

    What’s going on over here?

  252. Jandy says:

Thanks, Drew, I was gonna say that…

  253. Tim says:

    Definitely not the senators

  254. Jandy says:

    nah….just tar and feather lol

  255. Jandy says:

    me too!

  256. Jandy says:

    not much…

  257. Brandie says:

    Sucky night, TC.

  258. Drew71 says:

Plan, can I borrow that troll bridge?

  259. theplanisworking says:

Drew, dont make the mistake I made.
    Dont feed the troll.

He stated earlier that Matt Cooke is a “filthy player”, and tried to trash Jandy and I. Jandy is a “blatant homer”, and I cannot be objective………… according to the troll.

All this person does is trash the Pens every time he is on here.

Sorry, but I get tired of his bashing of the Pens, and us.

  260. Kevin says:

Hate to bring it up. Do we go with fleury next game? Penguins seem to have inherited pirates difficulty providing run support. Not that that’s Vokouns problem at all.

  261. Lad9 says:

Speak for yourself. You are the only one asking for a break. Don’t include anyone else.

  262. theplanisworking says:

    LOL !

  263. theplanisworking says:

    This is an excellent question.

DK needs to weigh in on this one.

You are right, not Vokoun’s fault at all.

  264. theplanisworking says:

    This is an excellent question.

DK needs to weigh in on this one.

You are right, not Vokoun’s fault at all.

  265. J Walter Weatherman says:

Don’t see any way this is Vokoun’s fault. Stick with him. Fleury would’ve given up 6 goals in this game.

  266. Kevin says:

Just curious how many open nets we had where we missed the net, hit post, or failed to elevate. I seem to remember at least 3.

  267. Arriba Wilver says:

I think Im going to watch a Game of Thrones episode. People seem to score on that.

  268. Jandy says:

You’re a sad individual. It’s people like you that keep the Matt Cooke is a dirty player thing alive. He has changed his game…most people with half a brain acknowledge that fact. Narrow minds cannot grasp that he has simply changed his game.

  269. JohninOshkosh says:

    POTD

  270. Jandy says:

    Narrow minds …

  271. Jandy says:

    LMAO!

  272. theplanisworking says:

You give it WAY too much credit…………………..

  273. Jandy says:

    for sure!

  274. Crosby says:

That’s weird, Crosby arguing a call. What a girl.

  275. Brandie says:

Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains. Time to do some regrouping. Freakin’ play some dang defense.

  276. theplanisworking says:

    Bucs lose 2-0.
    Pens lose 3-0.

Not a good night at all.

  277. Jandy says:

what sucks even worse is that we gave friggin RASK a shut out :(

  278. florida steeler says:

They were outplayed the entire game. Number of shots mean nothing–losing since the first period and the Bruins defense made them look foolish.Matt cooke is probably the dirtiest player in hockey and for those of you that think the Pens can do no wrong or Crosby is an angel–you are homers.
And, some of you think this is your personal webpage. Stick to hockey and email each other with your cuteness.

  279. Jandy says:

    Night Hipposter…sweet Hippo dreams

  280. Jandy says:

    you tell ‘em girl!

  281. theplanisworking says:

    Night Jandy.
    Night Brandie.

  282. Drew71 says:

Too bad about the third period.

If the game had finished like the first two, Pens looking like the better team but losing 1-0, I’d feel a lot better than I do now.

In fact, if that had happened – Pens lose 1-0 but look solid in defeat – and if I coached them, I’d pull them together after the game and say (with a smile and a relaxed air) “men, you give me that effort, you play like that the rest of the way, and they won’t win another game. Go home and sleep like the champions you showed yourselves to be tonight. Come back in two days and play EXACTLY THE SAME. I have never been more proud of how you played tonight”

But then the stinking third period ruined my Hollywood moment.

  283. Jandy says:

Don’t like it here, the door is right there…watch it doesn’t kick you in the butt on your way out…

  284. Jandy says:

yeah, they fell apart at the seams. Gotta keep some discipline, even if it means biting your tongue. Hope the message gets thru and next game goes better.

  285. Drew71 says:

    I’m cute! See?? I’m cute.

Somebody tell my stinking wife I’m cute.

  286. Jandy says:

Don’t give yourself so much credit, Drew Dahling…the…er…person wasn’t directing that comment at you ;)

  287. theplanisworking says:

    Hahahahahahaha.

He didnt mention your poodle, however. ;)

  288. Sarah says:

Ah, he deserved it. He played excellent.

  289. Eric Bowser says:

    - Pens PP was terrible… sure would be nice to see Iginla out there
    - Bylsma had 2 terrible personnel decisions on 1 PP (no RH shots) and 1st BOS goal
    - Crosby has to stop getting sucked into these post-whistle scrums, whining…
    - Kunitz had 5 scoring chances by my count and didn’t convert…..
    - Niskanen had 4 turnovers by my count and 3 ended up giving BOS scoring chances
    - Letang on that 2nd goal… ugh
    - Bruins owned faceoff circle… 32 for 48…. Pens were horrible there.
    - Chara owned the ice again and didn’t get hit that much
    - Cooke’s penalty was stupid, 2-min for sure… don’t agree with major and misconduct
    - Marchand got away with almost committing Claude Lemieux on Neal.. gets 2-mins, ugh

Only 1 game but Bylsma has to get this team back on track, Milbury is right, they can’t keep having Crosby and Malkin losing their cool and take penalties.

  290. Sarah says:

Biggest disappointment for me is that 2 periods into the series the Pens already lost their composure. Sloppy on D the whole game, but just awful in the 3rd after the scraps.

That game was winnable if they just settled down and didn’t lose their heads.
Did vets in the room say anything in between the 2nd and 3rd to get everyone calmed down?
    If so, nobody listened.

  291. Sarah says:

And will we see vitale for faceoff help? Pens were abused like 70-30.
That by itself can turn a series…..

  292. Arriba Wilver says:

Hopefully he just played his best game, like Anderson did in the Ottawa series.

  293. Tim says:

Malkin was great. Rask was greater. No worries. Play the way they did in the 1st two periods and they will be fine. 3 posts help. Be cool Sid. Vokoun was ok. 3rd period was a result of being behind. Play smart boys.

  294. DJ says:

Time for Vitale and Jussi — need all hands on deck for face-offs; 67% to 33% won’t cut it.
Waiting for Kunitz to show up again — not sure what nagging injury is but he is missing glorious opportunities.
Although HCDB won’t do it, would swap Depres for Niskanen in heartbeat for Game 2.
Need Sutter to chip in something as he seems to have disappeared, and in off season, need him to attend Gary Roberts’ training camp.
