Comments

  1. Drew71 says:

    Oh. Nevermind.

  2. JMB says:

    Time to score some runs!

  3. Bizrow says:

We need Mr Gomez to keep it going today, do not want that s%#!p word uttered.

  4. Drew71 says:

    What? Shutout? Loss? Sweep? Thunder?

  5. Playoffs by 2012 says:

    SUNDAY PICK ‘EM LINE

Max “wager” is 100 units on any single line.
All “wagers” must be in multiples of 5 units.
Play as few or as many lines as you’d like.
As always, this is for fun and entertainment purposes.

Total RUNS SCORED by the Pirates in today’s game
    0-1 (EVEN ODDS)
    2-3 (EVEN ODDS)
    4-5 (DOUBLE ODDS)
    6 or More (TRIPLE ODDS)

    GOOD LUCK!!

  6. JoeyBats says:

Time to start getting even with Matt Latos….. ;-)
    .
    His career numbers against the Buccos….. 7 starts…4 W, 0 L…..45 IP, 36 H, 46 K, 16 BB, 2.40 ERA, 1.16 WHIP, Bat Avg. .220
    .
We’re going with our POWER GUY batting cleanup!!!!
    .
BEAT EM BUCS….gotta score some runs today…..

  7. Lad9 says:

Well, ya can’t accuse the skipper of not shaking up the order. That is a very interesting lineup. I like that he stayed with the hot hand in Presley, maybe took a little pressure off Marte to get on base and just worry about driving the ball, and moved Cutch just a little bit to get him thinking. Might as well give it a shot – can’t be any worse thn it has been the last few nights. And it is better thn the usual Sunday lineup.

  8. Bizrow says:

Alex, I’ll take 100 nuggets on 6 or more

    Thanks, playoffs

  9. blazer says:

think we get to score some today with that lineup. Give me 100 on the 4-5 run line.

  10. Bizrow says:

    The last two :-)

  11. Lad9 says:

Rolling the dice and will wager 100 cow pies on 4-5 runs. Thank you Playoffs. Go Buccos!

  12. Frankie says:

Give me 50 on 4-5 runs

  13. Arriba Wilver says:

    +1

  14. Drew71 says:

    Yeah. No Sweep, Sherlock

  15. Joey Mellons says:

    100 on 6+ runs.

  16. Bizrow says:

Well, we’re due to score a few today

  17. Thundercrack says:

I usually try not to get too caught up in the batting order – even though I have said I think Pedro should move up.

I would have kept Marte at leadoff and had Presley hit second.

  18. Jason81 says:

    I’d like 100 on 4-5 runs, please!

  19. stuart66 says:

100 Simoleans on the 4-5 line.

    Lets go Bucs

    Stuart

  20. stuart66 says:

I like the lineup. Walker especially at #3.

Cam Jeanmar stay in his trance?

    Stuart

  21. theplanisworking says:

    Mr. Playoffs…….

I am sinking faster than the Titanic, so……………..

I will take 100 Hippos on 4-5 runs, please.

    Thank You.

  22. Arriba Wilver says:

I don’t, either. But I like it because of Presley’s last night, Marte’s struggling of late and Marte’s superior power.

  23. theplanisworking says:

If we dont score today, I say we storm the “Final Word” studios with pitchforks and torches. ;)

  24. cmat0829 says:

lets go for it..100 on 6 or MORE!

  25. cmat0829 says:

I think this lineup has potential, even when Snider gets back in… I can see them going Marte/Snider/Walker/Cutch/GJ/Martin/Pedro….. I dont think it matters much if Cutch/Jones are batting 3-4 or 4-5….What i like is Walker hitting before Cutch and I think Snider is exposed a bit down lower in the order.

  26. Thundercrack says:

    Grilli
    Melancon
    .
    Rested

  27. Arriba Wilver says:

Is Jeanmar at 75 pitches yet?

  28. JohninOshkosh says:

As long as the Bucs wear those uniforms on Sunday, I will always watch them on Sunday.

    Love ‘em.

    Already 2-0 Reds.

    I hate the Reds.

  29. Thundercrack says:

This is when I wish I could see Karstens warming up in the pen

  30. JohninOshkosh says:

    Oh Jeanmar….

  31. theplanisworking says:

    Not looking pretty…………

  32. JoeyBats says:

    8-7-6-5-3-0-9 !

  33. Dom says:

Looks like they’re gong to be breaking out the broomsticks…

  34. JohninOshkosh says:

Jenny’s telephone number or hits given up by innings by Gomez ?

  35. Thundercrack says:

This may ruin Jeanmar’s chances for the Cy Young

  36. Latos is like 4-0 against us and we spot them 4 runs already. Never good, unless we can get a 4 spot of our own. Odds on that happening?

  37. theplanisworking says:

Ok, Walker gets hit, and BOTH benches warned.

So Cincy gets away with another one !!!!!!!!!!!
    And we CANNOT retaliate!

    SMH!

  38. JohninOshkosh says:

Hey Dusty, I thought they should just go into a room until someone hits the floor, you know like hockey players.

  39. Lad9 says:

That splash in the Allegheny was Jeanmar crashing back to earth…..

  40. We send a message by hitting people, and they answer. They send a message by hitting us (constantly) and we go down meekly.

  41. Lad9 says:

I hate the Reds too, but especially Dusty.

  42. Thundercrack says:

    We hit Choo first

  43. JohninOshkosh says:

Should have kept Gomez in to drill Latos in the ribs.

  44. pattonbb says:

Warning both benches was the right thing. Watson hit 2 more Reds yesterday. Couple that with the hard play by both squads and you knew the umps weren’t putting up with anything today.

  45. theplanisworking says:

    Meh.
He deserved it, he was a Red ;)

  46. JohninOshkosh says:

Oh come on! That pitch was barely inside and Choo made no effort to get out of the way.

  47. Lad9 says:

    +many!

  48. Drew71 says:

    This Travesty is on Thunder.

  49. JohninOshkosh says:

Nice to have a catcher who throws runners out!

  50. Thundercrack says:

I’m listening to the game so I didn’t see it

But with all the HBP this series I am not surprised by the warning.

And am a bit tired of all the macho “they it is we need to drill them / we need to send a message” stuff.

Concentrate on beating the Reds at this point

  51. Why not! All he would have to do is pay for any fine, but then again he may also be suspended a couple weeks by Torre. Only really worth it if he goes on the DL since they claim he left with tightness in the forearm.

  52. JoeyBats says:

    LOL

  53. pattonbb says:

not getting swept would be a pretty nice message.

  54. JohninOshkosh says:

    Understand.

  55. Drew71 says:

I’m all for plunking, by Thunder.

But down 4 runs early is a terrible time to give up more base runners.

Revenge is a dish best served high and tight.

  56. Thundercrack says:

Not sure how you understood with all my auto-correct spelling errors

    :-)

  57. Reading says:

At least Pedro can hit this loser.

  58. Drew71 says:

    Is that allowed?

  59. Finally a hit and what is that – a run as Pedro goes deep enough over the right field wall for a homer. 4-1 now. Hopefully the comeback is beginning. Keep it going.

  60. Reading says:

Choo got hit to lead off the game.

  61. Friday night – Pirates had 1 hit, 1 walk, and 1 HBP for offense.
Today – 1 hit, 1 walk, and 1 HBP so far for the offense.
The only difference is the hit at least scored one run.
That Tigers series really took everything out of the Pirates offense.

  62. Reading says:

    No more drag bunts!

  63. Lad9 says:

Ok Cutch that was overdue. Lets keep pecking away. Come on Legend!

  64. theplanisworking says:

    Was hoping for more there.
    Cant waste good opoortunities.

  65. Eric Bowser says:

Is the traditional June swoon for the Pirates underway?

  66. Reading says:

Way to come up big. Fastest guys on the team on second and third, a single brings them in, and a strikeout on a pitch nowhere close to being a strike, and a weak roller ground out.

  67. theplanisworking says:

I was worried when the Bucs started playing better teams.
I did not expect anything like this series at all.

  68. I’m all for these guys being aggressive at the plate, but they also need to take some walks when they are given them. For the past week at least they have been flailing about swinging at too many pitches out of the strike zone – basically helping out the pitcher. Walkers’ AB last inning was a microcosm of that. Marte walks on 4 pitches, and what does Neil do – swings at the first pitch (a ball) then swings at the next two and Ks (both also balls out of the zone) might have been different if he just lets the pitch get himself into trouble. Jones did the same thing by striking out on a ball out of the zone. Three more innings to get those two runs back, but they missed a perfect opportunity last inning.

  69. Brandie says:

    What happened to the offense?

  70. theplanisworking says:

    Brandie girl!!!

    Good to see you.

I think our offense went into witness protection. :(

  71. Arriba Wilver says:

Do you mean like last year when they went 17-10 or 2011 when they went 16-11?

  72. Brandie says:

    Did Bylsma do this?

  73. Eric Bowser says:

You’ve gotta be kidding me… you think the last two years erased the tradition?

  74. Reading says:

Not sure why I’m waiting for this to end before cutting the grass. Foregone conclusion. Can’t even put a ball in the outfield, or in play when it matters.

  75. theplanisworking says:

    Good one !!! ;)

  76. Brandie says:

Have pitching…need consistent offense in a big way. Otherwise, prepare for more smoke and mirrors comments.

  77. Though not over just yet, the Pirates are on the verge of an 0-2 start to June. For consideration, they started May 3-4, but the rest of the month went 16-5. No real need to give up on June.

  78. Brandie says:

Just might need Matt Cooke to hit somebody.

  79. theplanisworking says:

    Nah……….. he would get suspended.

  80. Reading says:

Surely, the Reds guy will knock in the runs.

  81. JohninOshkosh says:

Even if they end up getting swept, they will still be 11 up on the good side.

    Ebb and flow, kids.

    Ebb and flow.

  82. Eric Bowser says:

    Pirates from 2000-2012 in June…

    2012: 17-10
    2011: 16-11
    2010: 6-20 (worst in MLB)
    2009: 14-13
    2008: 12-15
    2007: 12-15
    2006: 8-20
    2005: 11-16
    2004: 9-19
    2003: 10-14
    2002: 11-15
    2001: 12-15
    2000: 11-16
    Total: 149-199

  83. Reading says:

Not only does Choo get hit by a pitch a lot, he fouls balls off of himself. Dude is a ball magnet.

  84. They are still much further along than they were last year at this point.

  85. theplanisworking says:

    Oshee…………

    I love your optimism.

But we are fighting over 20 years of ebbing and flowing.

Only the biggest of Polyannas would look at this team as constructed and would be happy with it, and think we will win it all.

I just hope you are correct sir.

  86. Reading says:

    Votto’s having some fielding issues.

  87. theplanisworking says:

Just an observation from a very, very slow Hippo here……………..

Didnt the umpires warn both benches earlier?

  88. Still no one tossed. Our guy could have been tossed earlier, but WTH!

  89. Reading says:

That Ump warning certainly has some teeth.

  90. It really helps curb everything that keeps happening between these two teams.

  91. Brandie says:

No time to panic, just time to be realistic. We need timely, run producing hitting.

  92. theplanisworking says:

    Dentures? ;)

  93. Reading says:

How about a big hit by Jones? When was the last one?

  94. Eric Bowser says:

    WOW

    Jones KILLED THAT BALL!!

    into river

  95. Reading says:

    There.

  96. theplanisworking says:

    WOW !!!!!!!!!!!

    Wet ball!!!!

  97. Lad9 says:

    Crushed! New ballgame!

  98. theplanisworking says:

    into the river. :)

  99. Brandie says:

Yeah. Ask for offense and you shall receive it.

  100. theplanisworking says:

Does the same work with money? ;)

  101. Brandie says:

Depends on who you’re asking. If it’s Bob Nutting, Neil Huntington and the like, then, sadly, no.

  102. theplanisworking says:

    +3 !! :)

  103. Brandie says:

    Dang Cardiac Kids!

  104. Brandie says:

C’mon BUCCOS! Beat ‘em like they back sassed you!

  105. Lad9 says:

Time for pay back for a lot of indignities over the last 20. Well, at least an installment!

  106. Simon says – Homer! I hope.

  107. JohninOshkosh says:

Was that guy related to Pete ?

  108. theplanisworking says:

    Can Parrots swim? ;)

  109. JohninOshkosh says:

OK, Be on alert Jordy Mercer fan club.

  110. Brandie says:

    Randall Simon?

  111. Lad9 says:

    Not like hippos!

  112. JohninOshkosh says:

    That’s what I’m talking about !!!!!!!!!!

  113. theplanisworking says:

    WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!

    Nice!!!

Salvages a bit of this series !!!!!!!!!!

    Raise the Jolly Hippo!!!! ;)

  114. Brandie says:

I want to be the fan club president.

  115. Both! and there it is Raise the Jolly Roger!!!!

  116. theplanisworking says:

    + many!!! :)

  117. Daughter said right before that “I’ve had enough of it!” as in I have had enough of this tie.

  118. JohninOshkosh says:

10 scoreless innings of relief work. Sustainable.

  119. Brandie says:

    Feels like We all called!

  120. theplanisworking says:

    Smart girl. ;)

  121. JoeyBats says:

AWESOME bullpen performance ….one more time!
    .
    BEAT ‘EM BUCS !

  122. Lad9 says:

Raise it. Stunning win. Down 4-0 after seven batters, throw 10 innings of goose eggs out of the pen, and clutch hitting! BUCCOS!!!!!

  123. Thundercrack says:

    +1

  124. JRay3 says:

Behind 10 shutout inning by the best bullpen in Baseball, a Garrett Jones river shot on the fly and a Travis Snider GW RBI single in the 11th the Bucs earn a come from behind victory downing the Reds 5-4 and there was noooooooooo doubt about it.

With the win the Pirates move back into a tie for second in the Central at 35-22. The Pirates are now 4-1 in extra innings this year. The Pirates take to the road when they begin a series with Atlanta tomorrow night when staff ace AJ Burnett gets the call for the Bucs.

    Let’s Go Bucs!

  125. theplanisworking says:

    Have fun all.

Off to a cookout, hopefully I am not on the menu!!! ;)

Everyone have a great day. :)

  126. Thundercrack says:

    No
    Long
    Losing
    Streaks

    =

    Sustainable

  127. JohninOshkosh says:

I was worried that one was heading for 19 innings! Happy Sunday!!

  128. JRay3 says:

Maybe best win of the season this year this far….just when you think team is in rut a little down and out they give you this.

  129. JohninOshkosh says:

Great recaps this year. Especially like them on “W” days !

  130. Thundercrack says:

    1) Terrible throw from the Reds’ outfielder

    2) In the replay you can see that Pedro rounds second and heads to third.
No need for him to do that. If Martin is out at home the inning is over.

Not exactly sure where the runners were but that could have been a dangerous play if the Reds threw behind Pedro and tagged him out before Martin scored.

  131. Arriba Wilver says:

    June 2, 2013: 1-1

  132. Thundercrack says:

I guess I gotta go cut the grass now.

  133. JohninOshkosh says:

Reds and Pirates with identical records through 57 games.

  134. JohninOshkosh says:

    Same here.

  135. Arriba Wilver says:

The only “swoon” I see in those numbers is 2010, 2006 and 2004. And in a lot of those years they were out of it before June. You call that a tradition?

  136. Drew71 says:

    I’m disappointed.

Had they lost 3-0, I coulda written five reasons why they are furious, frustrated…and just fine.

    NOW what do I say??

  137. Arriba Wilver says:

    I didn’t get that, either.

  138. Arriba Wilver says:

Ryan Doumit says this team will hit.

  139. Arriba Wilver says:

    Right behind you.

  140. Officer Mancuso says:

Mark today on your calendar. After scoring 1 run in 3 games against a division rival, this team fell behind by four runs in the top of the first, and came back to force a tie. The game then went to the eleventh inning. A loss after that comeback would have been devastating. A win reaffirms everything good that this team wasn’t quite sure was true of it. This may or may not be a World Series team, but it is not Milo’s Pontiac.

  141. Officer Mancuso says:

“I could get used to these guys earning the name ‘Battling Bucs”.

  142. Bizrow says:

    + 1

This was a sweet win, coulda called it in, but they battled

  143. Bizrow says:

The Travis Snider bandwagon still has some seats

Get on for the ride ;-)

    Bring a lunchbucket

  144. John Lease says:

    I agree.

  145. John Lease says:

Maybe another recap of the top 25 Pirates might include Garrett Jones this time?

  146. Late to the party.

Did Gomez come out for any reason other than he stunk?

  147. Chuck H says:

Yea!! the Pirates won, thanks to our great relievers. Once again, our do little manager,
didn’t recognize the fact his starter didn’t have it today. You don’t give a team like the Reds 4 runs in the first inning, and especially since he hit the leadoff batter to start the game. If I were manager, he would have come out after the hit batter. I like Travis Snider.
    GO, BUCS!

  148. Thundercrack says:

    +1

Did you see that Doumit hit the walk off triple to bail out Correia yesterday.

And Jason Bay hit a homer in the same game.

All that was missing was a spectacular play in the field by Jack Wilson

  149. Thundercrack says:

    Tightness in his forearm.

  150. Jason81 says:

June was also the month for the majority of interleague play during those seasons, which the Pirates have stunk in (other than last year) since it’s inception.

  151. Nancy52 says:

    Supposedly his forearm tightened up.

  152. Thundercrack says:

    Side note:

I listened to the GM’s show today. Greg Brown asked him about JMac’s recent rehab start..and why it was so different than his first one.

    Interesting remarks by Neal H:
    1) ‘JMac got his teeth kicked in by AAA hitters his first start. He realized he couldn’t just roll his glove out there and get people out’

    2) He mentioned that he had better mound presence and got his head on straight, determined, efficient, etc…
He had phone calls this week from Hurdle and Searage.

    3) What he didn’t mention — JMac’s “injury”

  153. Thundercrack says:

One more reason I have the right woman for a wife and should thank my lucky stars and the Big Guy upstairs everyday:

Mrs. Thunder: They better hurry up and win this because I think the only pitcher they have left is that Zagursky guy. (and the Root camera took a break from showing the crowd and showed the Zagursky warming up in the pen)

  154. Thanks to both. Saw that above. Probably from throwing too many pitches in the first. (Although 23 is not very many)

  155. JMac threw pretty well for Altoona yesterday.

  156. Smart lady.

He should get sent down, soon. Hughes is pitching better lately.

  157. Charlie, on the other hand, has already given up a 2-run homer in Columbus in the bottom of the first.

  158. Officer Mancuso says:

    +8

  159. Bizrow says:

Tough to talk about a CL type injury.

And yeah, other clubs do it

    Still stinks, IMHO

  160. Bizrow says:

Tough to do with what 4 kids in your arms?

    Kidding, my friend (hopefully)

  161. Bizrow says:

Whew??? Won one we should not have???

  162. Thundercrack says:

    Biz
He could have said “JMac is getting healthy and pitching better, blah, blah, blah”

But not one mention of his health.

  163. Arriba Wilver says:

I didn’t see that. I haven’t checked out Plenty of Hope’s website for awhile.

  164. tomp says:

I disagree , i think the best win , so far this season, was the 1-0 game against Detroit, in terms of well played, and the dramatic top and bottom of the 11th.

I think the 2nd best game was the first time they came back off Latos/Broxton, earlier this season.

This ranks right up there though, i guess avoiding the sweep to the division rival , made it quite important, ranking wise.

I liked all 3 very much though, and i hope there is at least another 50 in the tank.

  165. tomp says:

Why would the infielder even consider cutting that throw off.?

It was kind of a bonehead move by The Great Alvarez, but he wasn’t going to make a difference if he stopped at 2nd, or just kept running.

  166. tomp says:

If Morton does not meet expectations tonight(I.E.- he gets lit up/can’t find the plate), and with Gomez having problems, will Cole be on the mound friday vs. The Cubs?

  167. Arriba Wilver says:

Cole’s probably not coming up before July, at the earliest.. Maybe late June, but the Super 2 cutoff is later this year.

  168. Drew71 says:

    +18 Stone (that’s 256 pounds)

  169. tomp says:

When is that exact magical date?

Bob Nutting probably has is circled on his calendar with $$$$ signs surrounding it.

I guess saving a few $$$$ towards the 2016 payroll is more important than winning games now.

  170. tomp says:

morton just walked a guy, after a 10 pitch at bat.

    He’s out after 4 2/3

    86 pitches-49 strikes- 4 bb – 4 k’s- 1 hr allowed- 3 hits.

I think he needs another start or 2.

Again, if Gomez can’t go, do the Pirates recall Cole for the cub’s series?.

  171. Charlie’s final line is 4.2, 2 runs, 3 hits, 4 walks, 4 K’s, 86 pitches, 49 strikes.

    He’s flirting with being ready.

d’Arnaud is looking better, too. He has a HR tonight.

Tony Sanchez at .308, 6 HR’s and 26 RBI. Those are the only stats I look at. Don’t know his BABIP or xFIP or WAR.

  172. Sorry for the repeat.

Not likely to see Cole yet.

  173. Drew71 says:

Watching a Wizard of Oz storm that just blew in over the water.

Not trying to be cute about it, especially following recent events. But I can’t take my eyes off it.

Just an hour ago I was doing the top down thing along A1A, singing Ice Ice Baby. Ten minutes ago, the birds cleared out and the sky turned dark charcoal.

Now I’m sitting on my deck, watching lightning hit the water. The deck is enclosed by storm glass, but it’s just glass. My neighbor just rolled down her metal storm shutters. I’m wondering if I should go back inside and at least have another set of glass doors between me and the flying monkeys. But I just can’t take my eyes off the storm.

You should see the birds struggling to fly into the wind.

Something just banged against the back of the building. Hope it wasn’t a bird.

If this was a movie, it would be the foreshadowing part. Just before something really bad happens. Uprooted tree. Shattered glass. Massive storm wave. Thunder stops in.

  174. Tell it to DK. He loves Florida.

Emoticon omitted in case it’s a serious situation.

  175. Drew71 says:

My building is right on the water, which i can hardly see now.

  176. Drew71 says:

By Florida standards, it probably isn’t too serious. But I moved behind the second set of storm windows.

It is something else to see how fast this thing came up.

And a pretty good reminder that hurricane season starts next month.

I live on a barrier island, by the way. They’re called that for a reason.

  177. Does it look serious?

  178. Never mind. I see you already answered that.

One gets slower at older ages.

  179. Drew71 says:

I keep a ton of perishable foods.

But if the power goes out and I can’t use my electric can opener, I’m a dead man.

  180. tomp says:

The Highway patrol didn’t pull you over for singing V Ice tunes?

I ‘m sorry, but maybe invest in xm radio, and listen to stuff between channel 20 and 39.
Did you forget your NKOTB cassette at home?

  181. tomp says:

Hurricane season, in our great state of Florida, began yesterday, June 1, and ends November 1st, i am quite positive.

Nothing going on here in St Petersburg, YET!.

  182. Tony Sanchez hit his 7th homer for Indy. Average is .313

And I know Milo will want to know that Jerry Sands hit his 5th. He’s temporarily over the Mendoza line.

John McDonald is 1 for 3.

  183. Thundercrack says:

What if it was a flukey play?

A heads-up play by the Reds?

Just saying that it was a small thing that I noticed that seemed odd.

If for some WEIRD reason Pedro is tagged out before Martin scores and then we go on the the game, people would be talking about it the same way as the extra inning game in 2011 in Atlanta & Cutch getting beaned by Chapman last year.

  184. JohninOshkosh says:

Every time they do interviews on the ice with the French-Canadian or European players, like Engblom just did with Hossa, I can’t help but think of Denis Lemieux’s radio interview in Slap Shot.

Just like that it’s 1-0 Chicago over LAK.

  185. Drew71 says:

i HAVE xm. Where do you think I learn this stuff?

Tho I can listen to 26 for hours.

  186. Milo Hamilton says:

Earlier this week I said that Jeanmar Gomez had turned into Jeff Karstens. I hate to say I told you so but …

  187. Milo Hamilton says:

Charlie Morton’s 86 pitches today got him through all of 4.2 innings.

  188. JohninOshkosh says:

The Black Hawks are who we thought they were.

  189. Milo Hamilton says:

The Pirates won’t need a 5th starter until June 15th.

  190. Jandy says:

  191. Jandy says:

    I’m driving…if I don’t approve, you don’t get in ;)

  192. Jandy says:

Just a blooming ray of sunshine, aren’t you :)

  193. Jandy says:

and they are very, very good

  194. Jandy says:

    ouch

  195. Jandy says:

I hope you’re ok Drew….I’d hate to have to send Thunder looking for you…

  196. Arriba Wilver says:

I thought I’d seen something earlier in the year that projected the Super 2 cutoff date as late June or early July this year, but in looking now some are saying as early as tomorrow and by June 15.

  197. Drew71 says:

I would hate for that to happen, too.

  198. Eric Bowser says:

They recalled pitcher Ryan Reid according to Twitter reports, have to assume that means Mike Zagurski will be DFA and taken off 40-man to open up spot for Reid.

  199. cmat0829 says:

they need at least one bullpen arm after using Mazarro for 3 splendid innings (he can’t go tomorrow), Morris for 3 outstanding innings (he can’t go tomorrow), Wilson for 2 great innings (he probably shouldn’t go tomorrow)…. I’d guess Reid can take Zagurski’s spot… but they’d also need to determine what to do with Gomez in terms of DL.

Tomorrow the script is AJ needs to get into the 7th at least… Watson can pitch and so can Grilli/Melancon.

DK: Grilli/Melancon can pitch every day. Forever. Maybe winter ball, too, if they cooperate.
