  1. Doyle37 says:

Which approaach do the Pirates take ?? #1. ” If it’s not broke don’t fix it ” …stand pat with a team that is doing well or #2 Trade a few prospects for another bat for a , thus far, weak offensive team ??

  2. War Horse says:

Welcome back to the world of winners, Dejan, by which I mean the Battlin’ Buccos. Forgive me if this is an awkward question for you, but I have been wondering for the past few years whether the Pirate front office’s sudden and dramatic turnaround in its financial investment in the team might have been influenced by that scandalous report in the Associated Press about how funds (i.e. huge profits) were being distributed among the owners and investors in the club. Do you think the AP revelations changed anything significant?

  3. Matt T says:

If you were Shero, what’s your approach on the NHL Draft coming up? Are you looking to trade up? Depending on the Letang situation, if it’s concluded that an extension can not be reached, do you want to move him ASAP? Since skilled defenseman such as 58 are so far and few between, what kind of return would you think is appropriate? Also, say Cooke and Dupuis (hopefully not) walk this off season. Do you see any suitable replacements in this years UFA group? Thanks! -MT

  4. Tom Zielke says:

Can the Pirates pull off an A.J. Burnett like trade with the Angels for Albert Pujols. They have the money to pay him 12.5 million for the next 8.5 years. They would have to trade Gaby Sanchez and a top pitching prospect, but I think the Angels feel stuck with the Pujols deal and this would help both teams.

  5. Dom says:

Only post your questions in the chat box and not in the comments section.

DK: Exactly! Thanks, Dom! Was about to do mention that myself.

  6. Brian G says:

I think trading some of our minor league prospects like Lambo, Sands, maybe DeJesus ( Ithink he’s the SS from Boston) maybe even Polmental for some minor pieces or a potential stop gap at RF (Rios) is fine. I don’t want them even thinking of trading guys like Taillon or Polanco. Glasnow and Kingham might be untouchable also.

  7. JG in TX says:

News Flash: Goodell vacates all New England wins since Hernandez joined team. “I’m not interested in punishing the guilty, that’s what the criminal justice system is for. I want to punish everyone who had nothing to do with this case such as the players, fans and coaches to call attention to my awesome power since I was woefully ineffective in every other violation I’ve ever encountered over which I actually preside. Special thanks to my good friend Marky E for advice and counsel.”

  8. JohninOshkosh says:

I think, although petite, Olivia Munn might be a good cast as the iconic Wonder Woman. If they want to stay inside the box with the whole Amazon thing, then why not try Lindsey Vonn. She has acted before.

That being said, I doubt that movie will be made in our life times.

  9. Ghost says:

Jandy already caught this, but that Jose Tabata mention in the chat…
Talk about ‘out of sight, out of mind.’

Then again, with the way this team has been making hay with so many players and prior prospects nobody any longer had much hope for, Tabata will probably end up reappearing for us in the fall and be our Marco Scutaro.

  10. Nate83 says:

He has until the trade deadline to prove himself. Everyone is well aware that RF is the most glaring need on this team. I’m not so sure Tabata may not be the answer. I kind of like what he has shown but he has to stay on the field. There is an above average major league player in there somewhere I just don’t know if we will ever see it or he will ever find it.

  11. Ghost says:

Count me in as an Olivia Munn fan. And since, yes, the Wonder Woman film just can’t get off the ground, let’s figure out some other excuse to cast her in a movie wearing a very low neck leotard.

How about a Carwash-like movie called “Blog?” Munn will play Jandy.

  12. Ghost says:

    Well said.

  13. JohninOshkosh says:

Yes. I’ll start writing a script. You get Olivia’s agent on the phone. :)

  14. Jandy says:

    I feel so….loved :D

  15. Ghost says:

I’m on it! Even if it means stalking Olivia to get it done! (Oh….did I just out myself as a perv?)

  16. Ghost says:

    Jandy WOMAN!

    In your satin tights,
    Fighting for your rights
And the old Red, White and Blue

  17. JohninOshkosh says:

Here’s what I’m thinking. Dejan (played by Ray Romano) organizes a blog get together at a ski resort. It is discovered that evil developers are planning to shut down the resort unless it can come up with $10,000. The bloggers rally together and organize a musical competition (with appearance from the Dead Kennedys!) to help raise the money. Hijinks ensue.

  18. Jandy says:

    Red, White, and Blue Pride,
And wearing my Size 9 wides,
I’ll get the job DONE :)

  19. Jandy says:

    Oh! The possibilities!

  20. Ghost says:

    Ray Romano — PERFECT!
And yes, hijinks must ensue. Or, in our case, lowjinks.
I feel a bidding war coming on for your script, John.

Gotta run to Home Depot (son had some hijinks of his own last night, and put his elbow through his bedroom window). But don’t sign for anything less than six figures!

  21. Ghost says:

The “Size 9 wides” reference — TERRIFIC!!!

  22. Jandy says:

    Don’t forget band-aids!

  23. Jandy says:

You were outed earlier today on the other blog, Ghostie!

  24. Bizrow says:

You could also use a clay pigeon shoot featuring members of a professional sports team as a way to raise the money ;-)

  25. Jandy says:

hey Biz we have a Newark DE on the morning java thread. Is that on the list?

  26. JohnS says:

I would take Tabata/Snider/Jones platoon in RF for now. I unlike most others think Tabata can be a quality outfielder for the Bucs.

  27. Arriba Wilver says:

Do you also think he can stay healthy?

  28. Arriba Wilver says:

    No soup.

  29. Jandy says:

    Any flies?

  30. Bizrow says:

I’ll check, thanks, haven’t had time to be around much today, dam work….

  31. Jandy says:

    **** A T T E N T I O N ***
Any new comers, we hope you like what you see here. We love “chatting” with you.
Bizrow (a regular contributor) has complied a list of hometowns for everyone who participates here, and we’d like to add YOUR hometown to Dejan’s Lunatics’ Asylum list.
Please chime in anywhere and Biz or I will see it and make sure you’re represented on the list.
    THANKS! :)

  32. Jandy says:

    yeah, I’ve missed you!

  33. Bizrow says:

Thanks, Jandy, you know, maybe for one day or so, us regulars should just lurk and not post very much, and see if we can get some new lunatics to stick their toes in the water here, as it were…

  34. Bizrow says:

    + 1

  35. Michael De Pitt says:

Nate Schierholtz for money@ and c

  36. Brandie says:

You cannot have this movie without Donnie Iris.

  37. Ghost says:

    Jandy,
I went back to this morning’s thread to see what on earth you were talking about re: me being already “outed”…

A genuine, laugh out loud moment. All I can say is, we better hurry up and make this movie Blog. John only need loosely script it as a documentary because the stuff that actually happens around here with perfect, comedic timing just can’t be made up.

  38. Ghost says:

Iris can audition to sing in the musical competition, only to be told be Blog regulars that he isn’t “as good as the real Donnie Iris.”

  39. Brandie says:

Ha! Ha! Ha! And Olivia Munn needs to dress as Mother Theresa.

  40. Ghost says:

    Can’t wait!

  41. Brandie says:

    Morning thread is missing now.

  42. theplanisworking says:

Just went to re-read the Morning thread, and it is completely gone.
Also removed from the blog’s main page.

    Really strange.

  43. Brandie says:

Who would play you, Ghostie? Or Hippo or Arriba, or Drew or me for that matter?

  44. theplanisworking says:

    GMTA!!!!!

    Happy evening to you, Muppet.

It had 584 entries, and now its gone.
    Did Drew break it again?

  45. Brandie says:

Get Scooby and the gang on that.

  46. theplanisworking says:

    Ruh Roh!!!!!!!!

  47. Brandie says:

Maybe I broke it when I called Jose Tabata Jose Flabata.

  48. theplanisworking says:

At least you didnt call him Flatbread. ;)

  49. theplanisworking says:

Brandie, I wish ya a Good Night.
I am off to watch the first few picks of the NBA draft, then early bed.

Cath ya on the Mornin thread tomorrow. :)

  50. Brandie says:

    Have fun dude!

  51. Brandie says:

    DK,

Where did the morning thread go?

  52. BillyBaduka says:

    Nice

  53. BillyBaduka says:

    Good stuff Oshkosh!

  54. Arriba Wilver says:

“Dejan Kovacevic: I’m not sure how much more damning the Stanley Cup Final could have been to the Penguins’ coaching staff than it was.”

    Whew, spoke volumes.

The other thing that jumped out at me were the comments about Shell’s Twitter account. Sounds like Pitt’s decision was a no brainer.

  55. pattonbb says:

I just read some of Shell’s twitter stuff. Wow. What an ignorant kid. Madden was pretty hard on him, but he brought it on himself.

  56. 21sthebest says:

Deal reached with Meadows according to Travis.

  57. Lad9 says:

Brandie they took the morning thread! (cut to Bluto in Animal House). “They took the bar. The whole f*%#ng bar!” I only had time to post a few things, but I thought it was some of my best work. We even outed the Ghost and he laughed! Maybe that broke the blog. How are you this evening?

  58. JohninOshkosh says:

    …and there was much rejoicing.

A lot less drama this summer!

  59. JohninOshkosh says:

    “William, it was really nothing.”

    Thanks, Billy, I appreciate that.

  60. JohninOshkosh says:

Pitt’s Steven Adams is #12 pick and goes to OKC Thunder. Will have the best baller in the world as a teammate.

UNLV’s Anthony Bennet is surprise top pick overall going to the Cavs.

  61. JohninOshkosh says:

Fiddlesticks, the Jazz took Shabazz Muhammed. I really wanted my Bucks to get him.

  62. BillyBaduka says:

    Nice Smiths reference too.

This movie could have a good soundtrack.

  63. Jandy says:

They stole the whole freakin thread????

  64. JohninOshkosh says:

…and the Bucks, often fond of looking internationally, draft Giannis Adetokunbo, a forward out of Greece.

First thing Mr. Adetokunbo does is consult an atlas to figure out where exactly Milwaukee is. lol.

(Thus completes my draft coverage for the three people on this blog that follow the NBA).

  65. Jandy says:

Agreed Ghostie my friend…no one else could make this stuff up :D

  66. Jandy says:

I’m up for it…or maybe all in for it ;)

  67. Jandy says:

ROFL..what a site that would be!

  68. 21sthebest says:

    LOL

  69. Aaron Hernandez had it erased.

  70. Bizrow says:

Looks like Mr Adams chose wisely

I wish him good luck and good tidings

17 siblings plus parents to provide for

    This is a start

  71. Bizrow says:

John, the excitement is just starting

    Pennant race

Not since 97, not actually a real one since the 70′s ;-)

    Maybe…

  72. JohninOshkosh says:

    1960, Biz.

    I’m following your lead.

  73. Jandy says:

    good job Osh Kosh!

  74. Jandy says:

17 siblings????? Dear Lord, shine on him and make him shine!

  75. Jandy says:

    BOOM!

  76. CeeHowUR says:

NBC is reporting that Letang is being offered $54M over 8 years.

  77. Jandy says:

and he rejected it and counter offered for more money…which the Pens rejected

  78. Brandie says:

Came from a late dentist appointment. Ah, Animal House…So many quotes, so little time.

  79. Brandie says:

The Yinzers stole the thread. We was robbed! We was robbed!

  80. Brandie says:

    And the saga continues…

  81. Jandy says:

SOMEbody stole it…who stole the Keiska…someone bring it back!

  82. Jandy says:

Makes me sad but if he’s going to be that way…trade him…

  83. Jandy says:

OK off to bed for me 4 am come much too quickly. Night Brandie :)

  84. Brandie says:

    Good night, dear.

  85. Drew71 says:

Thanks Oshie. Haven’t been blogging cause I’ve been GLUED to it.

  86. Lad9 says:

Not sure how, but the Pens need to find a way to keep him. If not, they will regret it for the next 10 years. He is a rare talent. And yes, I saw how bad he played against the Bruins. Gonna happen at times. Keep him if at all possible.

  87. tdb1977 says:

Quick! The hippo has gone to bed, lets raise the Jolly Hippo so when he gets up in the morning, he is flying high on the flag pole :)

  88. Arriba Wilver says:

Bye bye, Kris. If you don’t think that’s a fair offer when Sid is making $8.7, don’t let the screen door hit you in the butt on the way out. Sure, you can most likely make more.

  89. Brandie says:

Get our popcorn and drinks…could get long and ugly.

  90. Jandy says:

    Isn’t that the truth??!!??
