  1. Karen22 says:

    Here we go, Pirates!! :)

  2. Playoffs by 2012 says:

Max “wager” is 100 units on any single line.
All “wagers” must be in multiples of 5 units.
Play as few or as many lines as you’d like.
As always, this is for fun and entertainment purposes.

    Line #1
Total Combined REDS+ PIRATES BATTERS HIT BY PITCH in tonight’s game
    Line is 1.5

    Line #2
Total Combined HITS + WALKS + HBP by Garrett Jones this weekend against the Reds
    Line is 5.5

    Line #3
Total WINS by the PIRATES this weekend against the Reds
    Line is 1.5

Please Note – All games must be considered official games in order for line(s) to be valid. Any postponement, cancellation, or suspension of game(s) will void line(s).

    GOOD LUCK!!!

P.S. – The Window will be in attendance on Monday and Tuesday night at Nationals Park. Anyone going to the games on Monday & Tuesday in DC who wants to say hi is more than welcome to. Send me an email at buccooverunder-at-gmail-dot-com so we can meet up.

  3. Nate83 says:

This seemed like the longest all star break ever. It’s an odd feeling having so much anticipation for the Pirates to play again.

  4. Nate83 says:

    Line 1 – 100 on the under
    Line 2 – 100 on the under
    Line 3 – 100 on the over

  5. Bob from Mt Lebo says:

This is also know as the start of Garrett Jones’ annual second half being productive,, hits 2 HRs this weekend

  6. Nate83 says:

Is it just me or does it feel like that first 7 in the line up should be able to put up more runs then they have up until this point. Especially when Walker comes back I don’t look at the line up and think 2 or 3 runs is what they should score. I’m really looking forward to some of these guys breaking out and having big second halfs.

  7. blazer says:

Seems like it was forever that the Bucos played last. Looking at the upcoming 10 games I hope to see a 7-3 record. Problem is that St Louis is playing any easy schedule till next weekend in Atlanta and they could go 8-2 easily.

ON the lines I will take 100 on the under for lines 1 &2 and 100 on the over for 3 looking for 2 wins this weekend at least.

  8. Bizrow says:

100 for all 3 on the OVER

    Thanks Playoffs

    I’m due, I tell ya ;-)

  9. cmat0829 says:

wow, been a while since we faced a 10-game road trip and anyone dared to hope for 7-3 record… their last great roadie, where they want 8-2, most were hoping for 5-4…..

Cincy & Washington will be tough… have to hope for 4-3 there, possibly 3-4…then 2-1 in Miami and looks like 6-4 or 5-5…hope for upside

  10. cmat0829 says:

    hmmmmm… let’s go 100 each:

    line 1 – UNDER
    line 2 – UNDER
    line 3 – OVER

  11. Arriba Wilver says:

    Hope you’re right, Bob.

  12. Playoffs by 2012 says:

Could you put your wagers as a reply to what I posted above?
Makes it easier for me to see.

  13. Dave G says:

Only single seats are available for all three games here in Cincinnati this weekend.

  14. The Bucs need to start the 2nd half strong. Mike Leake has dominated us this year. There’s no excuse to get blown away by this pitcher. Our rotation is set up the way it should be . We need to start scoring more runs. We need big 2nd halves from Jones and Walker, We need more of the same from Pedro and Marte and McCutchen and Martin need to be better offensively. This team needs two bats and a solid defensive back up to Martin. Could also use another solid veteran starting pitcher, but I don’t see it happening. There are too many questions with this pitching staff. Will Liriano stay healthy and keep it together? Burnett has been solid for us but has history of inconsistencies ,Morton has great stuff but never consistent and I’m worried about Locke going down hill, Numbers show he’s pitching way over his head, and Gerrit Cole can be dominant if he get’s in a groove but he could also go the other way. I don’t expect all of these pitchers to go the wrong way but I would be naive to think none of them will. Landing a pitcher is as important as adding a couple bats. That is if we truly want to go after a pennant and a World Series. If we’re going after a winning season and maybe a wild card spot and holding onto all of our prospects that I understand standing pat and preparing for 2015 when I think we’d truly be ready with what we have in the system

  15. Brandie says:

    Here we go!!!!!

    Clap! Clap!

  16. Stickyweb says:

As painful as it is to do, I have to agree with all 3 of Biz’s wagers so I’ll take 100 on the OVER for all 3 lines tonight. Even a blind squirrel…right Biz?

  17. Stickyweb says:

Sorry playoffs, techincal issues. The first time I tried to post as a replay to the Window, the site kicked me out. When I signed back in, I forgot to go back to reply and just posted instead. I’ll willingly accept whatever punishment the Window deems appropriate, as long as it’s not painful and doesn’t cost me anything :-)

  18. Playoffs by 2012 says:

The BIZ seal of approval — aka, the kiss of death

  19. Playoffs by 2012 says:

No worries, picking the same as BIZ is punishment enough :)

  20. Stickyweb says:

The more I think of it, wagering the same as Bizrow is more punishment than anyone should have to bear.

  21. Stickyweb says:

    Great minds…and I’m a slow typer

  22. Karen22 says:

    Line 1 – OVER
    Line 2 – UNDER
    Line 3 – OVER

    And thank you, Mr. Window!

  23. Stickyweb says:

Yeah he sure ain’t no Good Housekeeping, is he?

  24. Dom says:

    #1: 100 UNDER!!!
    #2: 100 OVER!!!
    #3: 100 UNDER!!!

  25. Tom P. says:

I agree with you. Without blaming anybody in particular because that’s not the point, collectively, the Pirates need to do a better job of scoring runners from second with no outs and from third with 1 out. Do that once or twice a game, and things get a little easier.

  26. Brandie says:

    Dear Playoffs,

Please place 25 on the under for line #1.
Please place 25 on the under for line #2.
Please place 50 on the over for line #3.

    Thank you.

  27. bradthedad says:

Understand the angst about post ASG collapse and maybe bad things happening to the pitching staff. But I like our starting rotation a lot more than the Reds’ and our bullpen WAY more than theirs. Can’t say for sure outcome but they are the chasers this year.

  28. Reading says:

I thought Kelly Leak was banned from the ballpark for spinning donuts and peeling out pn his motorcycle near the warning track. I guess not.

  29. AJS says:

Man, that is a lot of needs for a team that has the second or third best record in baseball. Not saying I don’t see where you are coming from, but I think you are striving for a perfect tema here and not one that has all the tools it needs to get the job done as long as the guys come out and perform. you can’t take the best pitching staff in baseball and nit pick them down to nothing like that. No GM would ever sit there and look at his rotation like that. They would want to have injury depth that is for sure but at some point you have to trust what you are seeing.

  30. JohninOshkosh says:

    Senor Playoffs:

    Line 1: 50/Under
    Line 2: 25/Over
    Line 3 25/Under

Note: I’m envious of you going to the games. Mostly because you won’t, like I, have to endure the dreadful, awful, stinky, loathsome, despicable, tasteless, annoying, grating, bush league Washington television announcers. The worst at any level, and that includes anyone announcing in the American Legion leagues.

    Everybody Wang Chung tonight!

  31. JaxBuc says:

Please sir, may I have the UNDER on all three, for 50 shuttlecocks each?

I swear, this time I’m sticking with wagering the opposite of BIZ, no matter what.

  32. Daquido_Bazzini says:

I’ve rarely seen a Pirate HBP since the last Reds series a few weeks ago.
Look for dugout headhunter Dusty Baker to attack early.

  33. Playoffs by 2012 says:

    Johnny Wisconsin!!!!
    Good to see ya again!

  34. Playoffs by 2012 says:

    The Anti-Biz has arrived!

  35. Whjat are you talking about that is absolutely what a GM does. they prepare for the worst. And if you look at the careers of all these players you can’t help but wonder. This team does have the 2nd best record in baseball, but the last two seasons haven’t we had good 1st halves and fell apart in the 2nd half due to not having the offense we need and the pitching falling apart? Yes this team is better and built deeper, but not so much that we don’t need to fix our holes. NH know’s what he’s doing. He knows if this team is a serious contender to win a W.S and if he does think that than there will be significant moves made or at least attempted. If he doesn’t think this team is a championship contender than he will pretty much stand pat with similar moves that he’s made in the two previous seasons and hold onto the farm he has worked so hard to fix and he will wait another season or two to put the finishing touches on. Polanco will be in RF, Taillon,Cole,Locke,Kingham in the rotation. A full time 1Bmen and SS

  36. Drew71 says:

What is this game of which you all speak.

    I do not recognize it.

  37. If McCutchen Get’s hit tonight I fully expect either Votto,Phillips or Bruce to take 96 in the ribs from Liriano or Wilson

  38. bizrow says:

You are most likely doomed ;-)

  39. bizrow says:

    Now you are learning grasshopper

  40. bizrow says:

Watch him win it all ;-)

  41. bman says:

Line 1: 100 on the UNDER
Line 2: 75 on the UNDER

  42. bizrow says:

Cake eaters are never wrong, look at me and Drew

  43. Jason81 says:

    Line 1–100 on the OVER

    Line 2–100 on the UNDER

    Line 3–100 on the OVER

  44. bizrow says:

Hey, have you been in my house??

Come on over on Tuesdays, the cleaning lady comes Monday

    Wednesday would be too late

  45. cherokee23 says:

    100……under, under, over

  46. bizrow says:

    Beat Em Bucs

    Go like 60

I want to get to 60 W before we get to 40 L

  47. tdb1977 says:

Let’s get this party started! I’m looking into my magic crystal ball and I’m seeing the following for tonights lines…

100 on the over for line 1 – this will turn into a bean fest
100 on the under for line 2 – Jones will continue to struggle this season
100 on the over for line 3 – Bucs take 2 out of 3 from the Red Legs and put a nice cushion between them going into the Washington series.

    That is all I got.

  48. Karen22 says:

OOOPS! I forgot my 100 on each wager!

  49. Joey Mellons says:

    Line 1 & 2 100 under.
    Line 3 100 over.
    Raise it.

  50. radio wave says:

At playoffs: I will take the under for both line 1 and two. Give me 75 points on each of those. I will take 75 points onto wins for the weekend.

  51. Stickyweb says:

I assume you meant to say “when Mccutchen gets hit…” I can’t remember a game against the Reds when he wasn’t hit.

  52. Bill Born says:

100 on each line under Please.
    Thanks for all you do!

  53. Drew71 says:

Remember when Crash told Nuke to hit the mascot?

    Dusty Baker.

    Even looks like a mascot.

  54. War Horse says:

Line #3 – 100 beanballs on the OVER, please.

  55. bizrow says:

    Humbly disagree

Mascot didn’t eat toothpicks or get his little son almost run over

I never even saw that in Little League

  56. Drew71 says:

Well. About 15 years ago, Pirate Jim or whatever his name was got fired for doing far worse.

  57. Arriba Wilver says:

  58. Frankie says:

    Line 1 over

    Line 2 under

    Line 3 over

    Each for a 100

    Thanks Again

  59. JD says:

    100 under line 1.
    100 over line 2 & 3.

    Lets Go Bucs!!

  60. Dadtackular says:

    Line one. $100 over
    Line two. $100 under
    Line three. $100 over

  61. pattonbb says:

    Line 1 – 100 OVER
    Line 2 – 100 UNDER
    Line 3 – 100 OVER

  62. Arriba Wilver says:

    Line #2—100 on the UNDER.

    Line #3—100 on the OVER.

Line #1 is the toughest for me. Liriano hasn’t hit anyone this year. But, if Dusty is Dusty he may have to. But probably more likely the bullpens get involved. I’m going to go with my initial thought and bank on Dusty. Plus, we always hit Phillips and Choo tries to get hit. :-)

    Line #1—100 on the OVER.

  63. Lad9 says:

All for 100. Thank you playoffs. Go Buccos!

  64. Brandie says:

Hey, hey, hey! It’s Rad Lad!

  65. JRay3 says:

Good afternoon to the window. Great to have Bucco baseball back for the start of the second half of what promises to be an exciting race to the finish.

    Line 1 – 100 on the UNDER

    Line 2 – 100 on the UNDER

Line 3- 75 on the UNDER

    Thanks and Let’s Go Bucs!

  66. Chuck H says:

Did anyone notice that between MLB, ESPN, and Channel 10, the Yankees & Redsox
are on all three days of this weekend-Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. What is this love
affair with the Yankees. Don’t the networks realize that people actually like to watch
other teams play. They must hate the Pirates, because they are hardly ever on TV. I, for
one, won’t watch the Yankees play. I don’t hate the Yankees, but I think they have way
too much media exposure, and I wish somebody could fix it. GO, BUCS!!!

  67. JRay3 says:

I hear you, stuck with the Yanks / Red Sox game here tomorrow.

On a bright note ESPN did select the Pirates / Cardinals game on Wed July 31st marking the second time this season the Bucs will have appeared on ESPN.

  68. JRay3 says:

Nice play by Barmes who had to go way to his right to get to ball and gives the nice flip to get lead runner.

Liriano had to throw a lot of pitches to get out of this half inning, 26 total. Hopefully he is able to settle back in as Leake has been awfully stingy against the Bucs.

  69. Playoffs by 2012 says:

    Gonna say it now….
I hate the 2nd half of baseball seasons!

  70. JRay3 says:

Two awful calls on strike three to Marte and now Martin, that pitch to Russell was barely above the ankle, tough sledding if Leake gets that call.

Nice rip by Jones, going with the pitch to double.

  71. Reading says:

I don’t envision Liriano going the distance tonight. Let’s hope he can get through 5.

  72. Chuck H says:

Here we go again-lead off with a double and can’t even move runner up. Same old can’t
hit with RISP. The Reds didn’t have that problem, they just hit it out of the park.

  73. pattonbb says:

Anytime someone starts complaining about the Pirate’s situational hitting I’m going to say, “At least they’re not as bad as the Reds”.

  74. Chuck H says:

Marte leads off the 3rd-looks at 2 pitches in the strike zone, and then swings at pitch
he couldn’t have hit with a bed slat. I rest my case.

  75. Reading says:

Tired of everybody looking at pitches. Swing the bat. Be aggressive. It’s called offense for a reason. Make something happen.

  76. florida steeler says:

Well, I can see the break did nothing about these guys looking at pitches down the middle of the plate.

  77. Arriba Wilver says:

    5 Strikeouts in 3 innings.

  78. pattonbb says:

    Reds have 4

  79. Playoffs by 2012 says:

What’s the score of the Riverhounds game?

  80. Arriba Wilver says:

    I don’t care about the Reds. ;-)

  81. pattonbb says:

    2-1 Wigan

I’ve actually been watching some of it online. I don’t know squat about soccer, but it looks like a good time.

  82. florida steeler says:

    How bad are these guys???

  83. pattonbb says:

The Reds do suck pretty bad.

  84. florida steeler says:

Not talking about the Reds. Talking about your blind faith of this pathetic Pirate offense. Great hustle down the line by Liriano

  85. JRay3 says:

A lot better than the Reds, Cubs, Brewers, Braves, Marlins, Phillies, Nationals, Dodgers, Giants, Padres, DBacks, Mets, Yankees, Blue Jays, Orioles, Tigers, White Sox, Twins, Indians, Angels, Royals, Astros, Rangers.

  86. florida steeler says:

Lets see at the end if this offense does not improve.

  87. JRay3 says:

They do say pitching wins championships so I guess we can throw our blind faith in the League’s Number 1 pitching group. 3.07 ERA tops in all of baseball.

Not like teams can score against the Pirates either.

  88. florida steeler says:

And, the Pirate offense is NOT BETTER than all the teams you listed. Check facts before posting. I was not speaking about their record or didn’t you read??

  89. JRay3 says:

Heads up play by Barmes on AWFUL base running by the Reds to give up runner in scoring position. Poor bunt, poor base running, Reds fans should be irate.

  90. JRay3 says:

You asked how bad are these guys, these guys have second best record in baseball, so pretty good to most baseball experts.

  91. JRay3 says:

FACT : 56-37, speaks for itself.

  92. florida steeler says:

What is the score?? Am I missing the Pirates being ahead of this bad Cincy team?? The Reds will finish ahead of the Pirates–count on it.

  93. florida steeler says:

Another half to go–they cannot win with this no hit offense.

  94. Playoffs by 2012 says:

I so want to stay positive, BUT I can’t help but wonder how many more games over the next 2.5 months are going to be a brutal to watch as this one…

  95. florida steeler says:

It is not going to last.

  96. JRay3 says:

Reds 2-0 and guess what the Reds might even win this game at home.

FACT: Bucs 6-4 this season versus Reds

  97. JohninOshkosh says:

The ASB is officially over. The cranky guy at the end of the bar is back.

  98. Playoffs by 2012 says:

    I swear I’ve seen this movie before…

  99. Reading says:

Well, so much for that. Five runs ain’t happening.

  100. JRay3 says:

I’m glad you have the crystal ball, you should go to Vegas since you know it all you could be a wealthy wealthy individual.

  101. diehard says:

Brandon Philips just hit a line drive to the left center gap, and WATCHED IT. No way it was out, but he actually paused to watch it! It’s really unsportsmanlike, but there is no player I’ve seen in MLB that I would rather see drilled in the helmet with a 100 MPH pitch.

  102. Chuck H says:

How smart is Hurdle? He changes pitchers, but puts in another lefty to face a good
right hand hitter like Phillips with the bases loaded. We need some HITTERS and a new manager.

  103. Reading says:

Phillips: two pitches- bases clearing gap shot. Not looking for a walk. Not trying to run up the pitch count. Making something happen. Take heed, black and gold. Swing the bats!

  104. 21sthebest says:

Here’s a little Brandon Phillips recently.

“I just feel like they didn’t have to sign Joey (Votto) to that contract (10-year, $225-million extension). He still had two more years on his. And for (the front office) to go out there and sign him before they sign me, and they knew I was going to be a free agent?” Phillips shakes his head. “I understand Joey’s a good player. He’s one of the best players in this game. But I feel like I am too. I told them that this is where I wanted to be. I begged them. I told everybody I want to finish my career here. And then they give someone a contract who didn’t ask for nothing?”

“To this day, I’m still hurt. Well, I don’t wanna say hurt. I’ll say scarred. I’m still scarred. It just sucks that it happened,” he says. “For (Castellini) to sign somebody for $200 million, there must be a new vegetable or fruit coming out that we don’t know about. For him to do something like that and tell me they didn’t have any more money, that’s a lie. But what can I do? I just feel like it was a slap in my face … But how can someone slap you in the face with all that money. It’s a nice slap in the face.”

  105. JohninOshkosh says:

    Back in this game.

  106. JRay3 says:

Marte and Cutch tee off on Leake, good sign for them to have power stroke to start out after break.

Team has shown all season they will play all nine innings.

  107. pattonbb says:

Stay positive. This one’s far from over.

  108. JohninOshkosh says:

    + 1

  109. Reading says:

    Thank you!

  110. JRay3 says:

Martin goes yard, three HR inning, as Bucs bats chase Leake. Time to get to Reds pen.

  111. JohninOshkosh says:

    Yes!!! Never say die Buccos!

  112. Playoffs by 2012 says:

  113. Playoffs by 2012 says:

I’m trying, I feel like a beaten dog with this team.

  114. JRay3 says:

Hey but I thought this was a no hit offense according to some. Love the spirit of this team, they make you earn it.

  115. diehard says:

Marte, McCutchen, Martin – can we pinch hit Mientkiewicz for Jones? Then Mercer, and use Maz for Barmes, and round it out with Madlock for Wilson?

  116. 21sthebest says:

    Second hit for Jones.

  117. diehard says:

Apparently, I have subconsciously lost faith in McKenry!

  118. pattonbb says:

It’s ok, so have the rest of us.

  119. Arriba Wilver says:

    Battlin’ Buccos!

  120. JohninOshkosh says:

I watched every inning of the 2010 Bucs. This team is light years away from that club. This team does not roll over and die. It makes come backs. It wins close games. It wins 1-0 games. It wins on the road.

This is a good club. Believe me, all of us here have seen bad Pirate clubs, and this aint one.

  121. Playoffs by 2012 says:

Need a nice, quick 1-2-3 here

  122. diehard says:

How many balls has Pedro “deflected” into hits this year?

  123. Playoffs by 2012 says:

    What’s up pEdro?

  124. JohninOshkosh says:

    What an awesome double play!

  125. JRay3 says:

Great relay, Reds with multiple base running gaffes.

  126. Arriba Wilver says:

I don’t really blame Pedro on that one. Stuff happens.

  127. JohninOshkosh says:

The Bucs are a friggin hit machine. These Reds doing little to impress me. No heart and far from fundamentally sound.

  128. pattonbb says:

Exactly what you would expect from a Dusty Baker managed team.

  129. JohninOshkosh says:

I gotta give props to Reds announcers, who I usually find insufferable, have called out both the Reds LF and SS this inning.

  130. diehard says:

Those just happen to happen to him a lot. When he does take the step to his his, the ball usually hits him in the chest, he scoops it, and throws. He goes for the backhand, he deflects it – not always, but too often it seems.

  131. pattonbb says:

Stupid HR Derby definitely ruined Pedro’s swing……and his defense.

  132. Patrick(ri) says:

I notice Wehner has upgraded Marte to ” 20 to 30 HRs someday,” from an earlier assessment of “someday maybe 15 to 20.”

  133. Lad9 says:

Brandie! Finally back home in the South Hills from lovely Cleveland with a stop in Washington PA for my son’s game. Hope are you doing post birthday?

  134. Chuck H says:

See what I mean about not hitting with RISP? Pedro swung at a bad pitch to strike out
with 2nd and 3rd occupied. Lord almighty!!!

  135. Arriba Wilver says:

I don’t know about it to that detail. I just think despite the total number of errors he’s been playing a pretty good 3b overall.

  136. Bob Hasis says:

I’m ONLY thinking out loud; it would have taken some “courage” to pinch-hit JHay for Pedro there, with the prevailing likelihood of a K by Pedro. Realizing too that later on Aroldis will be called on – to face us and Pedro.

When you are trailing, you have to make something happen. Don’t you?

  137. florida steeler says:

When doesn’t Pedro swing at bad pitches from a lefty??? Walker cannot hit lefties either.

  138. Steelag70 says:

    Relax pattonbb….just one game….

  139. florida steeler says:

    not Hurdle!!!

  140. Steelag70 says:

Pedro has a big first half, looks to be continuing to improve, and now all of a sudden, everyone wants to yank him for JHay…c’mon guys….

  141. JRay3 says:

And Snider guns down Votto as the Reds run into another out on poor coaching and base running.

They are trying to let the Bucs steal one.

  142. florida steeler says:

He can’t hit lefties–every manager in MLB knows this.

  143. Steelag70 says:

Sorry Bob, but I’ll take my chances with Pedro in that situation and still have him available in a tight game rather than yank him for JHay…

  144. Steelag70 says:

I seem to remember right before the break that he was starting to hit lefties…it’s like you guys WANT this guy to tank….

  145. JRay3 says:

Pull an All-Star who is second in HR’s for a guy who has not hit in three stints with the club this season on top of it.

Pedro can change the game with one swing, unfortunately he guess wrong that AB, best pitch was the first one. Actually that is the guy you want up in that situation and you just take your chances.

  146. Arriba Wilver says:

Bad play by Jones, great throw by Snider.

  147. Steelag70 says:

    Agreed JRay….

  148. Bob Hasis says:

He has to be able to do something – besides chew bubble gum.

What is JHAY here for? To pinch-hit only for the pitcher.

Look how fast he uses Gaby to pinch-hit for Jones (who merely has two hits tonight), then the Reds change pitchers and CH just got out-managed.

  149. Playoffs by 2012 says:

    Oh goodie.
The Gaby Sanchez portion of tonight’s game is finally here.
    I’m going to bed.

    Later loonies!

  150. florida steeler says:

Hitting lefties?? In your dreams. Any lefty that throws a cutter low and outside–BINGO–another Pedro strikeout.

  151. Steelag70 says:

Bob…would you rather have Jones hit vs lefties???

  152. Patrick(ri) says:

What can you expect from a guy who gets less tha 1 at bat per week? He will get a hopeless chance against Chapman in the 9th –good luck kid.

  153. Bob Hasis says:

No more so than I would have Pedro

  154. Bob Hasis says:

But you missed the point – Gaby is facing a righty!!

  155. Eric Bowser says:

Apparently, White Sox pulled RF Alex Rios in 7th inning and was seen hugging teammates… Pirates are one of the teams after him, if you believe the conjecture by national media types.

  156. JRay3 says:

Sanchez draws the walk and once again Bucs send tying run to plate.

  157. JRay3 says:

Wow big news, would be great get if Pirates pull that off.

  158. Steelag70 says:

    Bob…it’s called baseball…managers make counter moves….get over it…

  159. Arriba Wilver says:

    Good scoop.

  160. pattonbb says:

    it was a joke.

  161. Steelag70 says:

Wow…guess CH made the right move there…

  162. Bob Hasis says:

What the hell are you talking about Dude?

  163. florida steeler says:

Problem is–I see no Pirates hugging each other.

  164. florida steeler says:

    And, once again, inning over.

  165. JRay3 says:

Mercer has gone into deep hitting slump, makes you wonder move made with SS when Walker returns Monday.

  166. diehard says:

Jones hits lefties better than Gaby pinch hits against anyone. Glad to see the walk though. All the better if Gaby doesn’t have to actually swing.

  167. Ghost says:

Makes me wonder where Bob Hasis is?

  168. JohninOshkosh says:

Would love to see Rios as a Bucco.

  169. Steelag70 says:

Well…it does guarantee that at least Marte will get to the plate in the 9th…

  170. JRay3 says:

As I stated below, Mercer is in deep hitting slide, probably the position that needs most attention. Barmes has hit since Walker went down, but is that sustainable.

It is the one everyday position I wish team could find an upgrade via trade.

  171. Eric Bowser says:

just read twitter comment that middle infielder Alen Hanson was pulled from his game, no idea if legit or related.

Also comments that Rios was pulled for not hustling on a DP groundball, so.. as usual, twitter is full of unsubstantiated reports.

  172. Steelag70 says:

florida…if the Bucs were acquiring Rios, it would be for prospects, not anyone on the ML roster…

  173. pattonbb says:

Several teams are in on Rios. Guess we’ll find out pretty soon.

  174. Bob Hasis says:

Brilliant, and after his great strategic moves – and non-moves – we are still trailing 5-3

  175. Arriba Wilver says:

  176. florida steeler says:

shortstop from the Sox available–not bad and a helluva lot better than our options. But, Hurdle LOVES Barmes.

  177. Bob Hasis says:

I’m right here, ostensibly suffering the same as you.

I’m wondering whom we gave up IF we acquired Rios?

  178. florida steeler says:

rumor had some of our power hitters on the bench were involved in talks. Snider and Gaby

  179. Steelag70 says:

Bob, are you just a Bucco hater??

  180. Ghost says:

Whereever Rios is going, it’s apparently now a done deal. I was never so hot on him and now am downright getting cold feet.

  181. Steelag70 says:

Why would they trade Gaby if they were not upgrading at 1B??

  182. Ghost says:

Was thinking of you when Mercer hit into DP, but you did not disappoint. As for Rios, sometimes the best trade is the one you don’t make. But if he’s coming here, then he’s a Bucco and I hope he catches fire.

  183. Bob Hasis says:

    Three instant K’s

  184. Steelag70 says:

Bob, do you EVER say anything positive?

  185. florida steeler says:

Bleacher says the Sox want Polanco. Do not think the Bucs would give him up.

  186. pattonbb says:

Not for just Rios. But I’m usually wrong about these things.

  187. diehard says:

JHay may be one of the least baseball-aware players I’ve ever seen. Not only does he not notice the ball gets past the catcher, he doesn’t run all out to first. Drop him off in Indy PLEASE!

  188. florida steeler says:

I don’t know that you give up your number 1 prospect for a 31year old malcontent!!!

  189. Bob Hasis says:

I speak my opinion, if that happens to differ with your blind naivete – that is not my problem

  190. diehard says:

    In other words, no.

  191. Steelag70 says:

I’m not naive Bob by any means….but it seems that some people will never be happy with this team…it’s like you WANT them to fail….I don’t get that.

  192. Ghost says:

    Or Chi-town’s South side.

  193. florida steeler says:

I find you correct more often than not. There are too many Pirate Kool Aid sippers that do not see the glaring weaknesses in this team. I am thrilled with their first half performance but this team with McKenry, Inge, Snider,Sanchez,Barmes and Pedro and Walker not being able to hit left handers–we are in trouble. I also do not believe the pitching staff is as good as first half–hope I am wrong but the Cardinals are a much better team.

  194. florida steeler says:

Why is McKenry on this team when you have the MVP of the AAA all star game in Indianapolis. Sometimes, Huntington makes me wonder if he really wants to win.

  195. Lad9 says:

    + a lot.

  196. Ghost says:

Jon Heyman said the Pirates might also be interested in getting Alexi Ramirez too. Don’t know who his “people familiar with Pittsburgh’s thinking” are though.

  197. diehard says:

Probably because it’s better for Sanchez right now to play every day – and he’s not going to push Martin out of the primary spot. Which still doesn’t explain McKenry.

  198. Ghost says:

I think you and Bob Hasis are pulling a quickie on us and are actually one and the same guy. The above banter between you “two” was definitely entertaining.

  199. Steelag70 says:

I am by NO MEANS a kool aide sipper….but every team has warts and yes, you work to improve them. But to nit-pic EVERY SINGLE THING CH does, or any player does…geezzz. I have news for you guys, even the Cards have their warts…and I do believe that this pitching staff is as good as the first half…they have earned that in my eyes…..

  200. Steelag70 says:

  201. Patrick(ri) says:

I will not argue with your assessment of his play. I do wonder if he could replicate this year’s AAA effort with a bit more consistent PT (the guys in his usual positions are not exactly tearing things up, so I see little risk, just as I see little point in how he is used). I seem to remember CH saying he was “going to play” this time. How about a 9th inning shot vs Arokdis? Should be ready — he got to pinch run ladt week.

  202. florida steeler says:

And, do you remember McDonald last year?? I hope you are right about the pitchers but I don’t think you are correct.

  203. Patrick(ri) says:

“Aroldis” and “last” — sorry for errors.

  204. Lad9 says:

That is funny. :) I have sometimes wondered if some of our posters are one person with multiple e-mail accounts. But I have not thought of arguing with yourself. You can’t lose -well I probably could but that is another story.

  205. Ghost says:

Whoa!!! Somebody above didn’t think my jesting was very funny, though! Power went out and whole room went dark! Sorry guys! You both have friends in VERY high places!!
My apologies, actually. Don’t want this to be taken as one of the things DK was just warning us about.

I’ll just shrink away now if nobody minds…

  206. pattonbb says:

Rios was pulled for not hustling to 1st.

  207. Ghost says:

And in case anyone thinks I’m exaggerating, check out the weather right now in Las Vegas. Heavy thundershowers which we almost never get. Really did lose power and internet for last 10 minutes.
    Lesson learned!

  208. Ghostc says:

Yes, I see that. And 24/7 relays to us: “MLB Network talking about Alex Rios, analyst mentions Ozzie Guillen pulled him from multiple games in past for not running hard to 1st.”

Rios does not sound like a character we want in our dugout.

  209. John Lease says:

Which meant Clint had to pinch hit for him with Sanchez next time up, naturally…

  210. John Lease says:

Exactly. No need for discontent bums.
