Line 2 — 100 Frank’s Beer Bills on the UNDER.
Line 3 — 100 Alex Rios Stinks on the OVER .

    Thanks.

  35. theplanisworking says:

I read the give and take on Alex Rios on the last thread.

    Yeah, everyone says he stinks.
Yeah, he wouldnt have been much of an upgrade.
And Yeah, he definitely has some attitude and hustle issues.

But I am a little weary of everything this FO says or does having a cloud over it.

Trade deadline — one source says they went after Stanton, one source says they didnt.
Now, neal says the price for everyone was “insane”, today the Rangers got Rios for literally nothing.

I just wish this didnt happen repeatedly, it distracts from the games.

Now I know why Frank drinks.

  36. 21sthebest says:

    Would Drewman do the dew?

  37. Eric Bowser says:

    4 hits…. no runs…

  38. Bob Hasis says:

When ever did we get 4 straight hits and 0 runs? Weird!

  39. pattonbb says:

    Oh Pedro…….

  40. Eric Bowser says:

welp….. I guess it is going to be one of those starts to the night….

  41. Bob Hasis says:

JHay should have pinch-hit for Pedro

  42. florida steeler says:

No clutch Pedro and Gaby come thru again–what else is new??

  43. JRay3 says:

I know they are not perfect.

    70-44
    Pedro is an All-Star
    Pedro leads NL in HR
    Pedro leads Pirates in RBI’s

Guy is obviously a bum, needs to deal him this offseason.

  44. pattonbb says:

I bet Lambo would’ve hit a hr there.

  45. florida steeler says:

You are right–they got Rios for nothing and we play Tabata, who was amused that Marte got picked off first. Marlins GM says never talked to Pirates about Stanton. More front office blowing smoke to appease the fans that Neal “tried” to do something.

  46. JohninOshkosh says:

Arn’t there babies in Florida that need candy to be taken from them ?

  47. Chuck H says:

4 hits, but zero runs. Now that’s pitiful- Marte is a good player but stupid. We still have that problem of hitting with RISP. I could have bet my house that Sir Whiffs-a-lot would either strike out or hit into DP. We can’t win them all, but this was a horrible way to start a game.

  48. florida steeler says:

And what is the great Pedro’s average against left handers?? I will tell you, the Pedro lover–213 and that STINKS.

  49. JRay3 says:

Certainly don’t see that everyday. Only good thing that inning, at the rate he is going De La Rosa will struggle to make it 5-6 innings tonight.

  50. florida steeler says:

That is a SICK, PERVERTED comment. Grow up.

  51. theplanisworking says:

For the same guy Rios was dealt for??? ;)

    I kid, I kid.

Pedro’s streakiness and struggles are something we just have to deal with.

  52. JRay3 says:

Yawn…Pedro is one of the best offensive pieces in both the Pirates lineup and at his position.

Like I’ve said before 29 other teams would love to pencil him in their lineup. Your act STINKS.

  53. JRay3 says:

Was not expecting this from Liriano tonight. Rockies have cashed in on their four hits.

  54. theplanisworking says:

    +1

  55. Bob Hasis says:

No one but you said anything of the sort.

Pedro currently is our “coldest ” hitter, what would be so wrong in using another righty, for one game?

  56. florida steeler says:

Hitting 213 against left handers. Can you ever be objective??? And, he seldom hits in the clutch and that is fact.

  57. Bob Hasis says:

Were you expecting more from Pedro? So you are wrong twice.

  58. Chuck H says:

The Pirate first was a bad omen. If only Marte wouldn’t have got himself picked off, and we had some hitters with RISP, we would be ahead instead of them. I know Liriano had to be disappointed with that situation.

  59. Milo Hamilton says:

    Why so negative ? :)

  60. Jandy says:

    nice

  61. cmat0829 says:

Rockies are a very confident team hitting at Coors.. Liriano seems to be just putting it down the middle and that won’t work in Denver…. but this is still early folks…

  62. Jandy says:

    Welcome, new Lunatic :)

  63. Jandy says:

Welcome Joshua, long time lurker…and New Lunatic :)

  64. Jandy says:

so he fits right in :)

  65. theplanisworking says:

My point was more about the “honesty” of the FO.
Given their history the past 6 years, with their half-truths and outright lies, just simply amazing they havent grasped the concept of honesty, or the concept of not saying anything.

It really does distract from the team.

  66. JRay3 says:

74 RBI’s, he is an All-Star he plays 150 games a year, nothing and yes he hits RHP better than LHP.

I’ve been objective all year…there are so many other glaring issues and deficiencies with this team than 3B.

  67. theplanisworking says:

Rockies are a completely different team at Coors.

We just need to chip away at this like we did with the Miami series.

  68. Jandy says:

    sure looks like it

  69. Jandy says:

FS your spiel is getting old. Objective??? Look the word up…then PRACTICE it, Sheesh!!!

  70. JRay3 says:

Would you sit Cutch? Would you sit Marte? Other than normal days of rest Pedro must play he is a regular.

  71. Jandy says:

perhaps you might practice what you preach.

  72. bizrow says:

Thanks Roger for the back up

    That makes 387

  73. Jandy says:

they’re hitting grounders…in the right places.

  74. Bob Hasis says:

Every other position has a right-handed batter (minus P), and since I know JRay approves of “maintenance days”, why not put JHay at third for a game.

If I display negativity, it’s at condescending remarks from some of our real brilliant bloggers.

I’m in love with The Pirates

  75. Jandy says:

I guess Frankie doesn’t like rain.

  76. JRay3 says:

I guess so…make it now three times as I thought Liriano would get the bunt down.

  77. florida steeler says:

    Your act is getting old

  78. Bob Hasis says:

As we did in the first inning

  79. Jandy says:

be careful, you might find out!!!

  80. Bob Hasis says:

I think Leyva spooked himself yesterday

  81. Jandy says:

methinks you’re talking about yourself. Grow up :)

  82. bizrow says:

Come on folks, from the little I’ve read, there has been a lot of dickering and shots

IMHO that is not what this place is all about

  83. Milo Hamilton says:

Bob, I was joking around with JRay. That wasn’t directed at you.

  84. theplanisworking says:

Welcome to the Fun House, Jandy.
Check your Eeyore at the door.

    ;)

  85. Jandy says:

Baby, baby, fallin’ in love, I’m fallin in love again…

  86. Jandy says:

Zactly. And guess what? The game isn’t over yet :)

  87. florida steeler says:

Send e-mails to your friends about your husband’s cars or jobs. This is a sports blog–no one is interested. Anyone who thinks they are mother Theresa needs some serious growing up to do.

  88. Jandy says:

hmmpfff….lotsa gloom from some in here.
And ya know what, if we lose a game….the world won’t end.
    Imagine that?

  89. Milo Hamilton says:

Yeah, everyone’s cranky. That’s my cue.

  90. Bob Hasis says:

Sorry, My mistake. Just defending my ground

  91. Playoffs by 2012 says:

Big THANK YOU to Johnny Ray 3 for posting the lines for me today.
    It is appreciated.

  92. Jandy says:

YOu’re right Biz, time for IGNORE :)

  93. Jandy says:

Let’s hear it for Johnny Ray!

  94. Jandy says:

    Don’t really give a rat’s butt what you like or don’t like, loser. Get a life. :) :P :D

  95. Bob Hasis says:

Ah you’re just having a bad night. Shake it off, you’ll bounce back

  96. Playoffs by 2012 says:

    THREE CHEERS!!!

  97. pattonbb says:

This feels like one of those games that will end up 11-9.

  98. Jandy says:

and awwww…he loves me, he pays attention to every thing I post…admit it, FS, you’re in looovveeee <3

  99. florida steeler says:

What are you talking about?? I stated a FACT that Pedro hits 213 against lefties and that is AWFUL. Objective is admitting that fact.

  100. Jandy says:

    woop! woop! woop!

  101. Jandy says:

Hopefully with the Pirates with the 11

  102. Playoffs by 2012 says:

    I’m gonna go with 17-14.
Gary Andersen will kick a late FG.

  103. Bob Hasis says:

    I’ll give a high 5

  104. JohninOshkosh says:

I will not engage with you again. I knew it was a mistake the minute I hit Submit Comment.

You are a patently humorless person, that is devoid of any joy, but your right to comment in any fashion you desire is unassailable.

    Therefore……

  122. Bob Hasis says:

Wehner just covered for Tabby. It was a lazy play – lights may have been a problem.

  123. Dave G says:

My MLB TV isnt working tonight. Don’t know why.

Just checked the box score and… whoa…Bucs have 6 hits and two walks in the first two innings and only ONE run???

  124. Lad9 says:

Hey Jandy! I am. checking in from the Hilton Garden Inn in Blacksburg VA as college decision tour 2013 continues. Can’t watch the game but have it on Sirrius on my phone. But enough sports. How is the job going? Did hubby get that car to work by the way? :)

  125. Jandy says:

haha! he’s cooler than Eeyore ;)

  126. theplanisworking says:

What if they steal the food?

  127. Jandy says:

Gazillions of trolls! Brilliant, Playoffs :)

  128. Jandy says:

silly Hipposter, Sharks EAT trolls ;)

  129. theplanisworking says:

    Not on this blog!

But many praises to JRay for his assist tonight.

  130. Jason81 says:

Somewhere in Florida a bridge is missing it’s troll.

  131. Lad9 says:

Oops. Hippo beat me to that line. Darn.

  132. theplanisworking says:

    Hahahahahahahahaha!
Save it for the e-mail, pal !!!!

    :D

  133. Chuck H says:

All those runners on base and all we get is one run on a sac fly.

  134. theplanisworking says:

Hippos are huge, but surprisingly quick.

  135. theplanisworking says:

    Thats a shame.

Be sure and keep us updated, y’all hear?? ;)

  136. Jandy says:

Hey hey RAD LAD!!!! Good to see you, friend! Brandie is in Altoona at the Curve game. Job is great…busy, but great….hubby was soooo busy this week, he didn’t get to work on the Chevelle, but it’s running!! Motor is just sweet…427 big block! :) Hope you’re having a grand time friend :)

  137. Jandy says:

yeah Chuck, that’s a big bummer, isn’t it? but ya know, I’m not giving up yet..

  138. theplanisworking says:

Frankie is one of our best.

Please Clint, get him out of the game!!!!!!!!!!

  139. Jandy says:

    ehh..looks like it’s just not Frankie’s night.

  140. theplanisworking says:

    +1

  141. theplanisworking says:

    +1

  142. Jandy says:

    you bet ;)

  143. theplanisworking says:

    Welcome. :)

  144. cmat0829 says:

who’s the innings eater tonight in the pen? Hughes?

  145. Not a good evening so far all around. Still time to make a comeback, but will have to score a ton of runs to do so. This falling behind by several runs thing has got to stop.

  146. cmat0829 says:

Bucs playing like AJ is pitching…very sloppy all around. Pedro, Mercer, Sanchez, Tabby and now Marte have either errors or bobbles or bad plays….

  147. Lad9 says:

It occurs to me that with the recent addition of Eeyore that we are getting quite the menagerie on this blog. We already have a Branimal and a Hippo. The addition of the possibly mythical Eeyore (who has yet to post under that name btw) now gives us a second donkey I think.

  148. Jandy says:

don’t think it’s gonna be a comeback tonight…but ya know…can’t win them all. Right now a decision has to be made on Frankie…he’s having a terrible night.

  149. Thundercrack says:

The FO never said the price for Rios was insane.
He didn’t say the price for everyone was insane

They never said they went after Stanton. RB reported that they made an offer for him which was good enough to make the Marlins stop and consider. The report made it sound like Stanton was never on the market but the Pirates did offer an interesting packag of players.

  150. Jandy says:

    lol priceless!

  151. Jason81 says:

Just remember, all you Eeyore’s and Chicken Little’s out there, no matter what happens by the end of this game this team will still be in 1st place. I don’t think we need to go searching for the nearest tall building.

  152. Thundercrack says:

    Jeanmar Gomez

  153. Jandy says:

I don’t know if I’d call that an error by Marte, or even a bad play…he just couldn’t get to the ball…it was hit in just the right place…all the chips are falling the Rockie’s way tonight…not the Pirate’s way.

  154. theplanisworking says:

    You play pool?

  155. Jandy says:

    or even a bridge… ;)

  156. theplanisworking says:

    More than a second, Laddy!

    ;)

  157. Lad9 says:

We are. Drove to UVA last night in a driving rainstorm but enjoyed every second with my 17 year old buddy. And drove over to VA Tech today. Isn’t it nice to have a forum like this to catch up on these things?

Doesn’t sound like it is the Buccos night tonight. Is it as ugly visually as it is verbally? (I mean the game of course)

  158. theplanisworking says:

I know that any criticism of the players or manager is not allowed, that being said……..

I honestly feel Clint did Liriano 100% wrong tonight by leaving him in for 9 runs, when it was clear he wasnt going to get the outs tonight.

I hope not to see this again this year.

  159. Lad9 says:

I am jumping off a footstool later.

  160. Jandy says:

yeah, it’s ugly. Sad but true. But again, it happens. No team wins them all. So I’m not gonna look for a bridge lol.

Glad you’re enjoying the buddy…they grow up way too fast…

  161. Jandy says:

    LOL!

  162. Jason81 says:

Well, they’ve got the 9 taken care of.

  163. Yeah. I hear ya. I was looking at his pregame ERA and it was 2.02 and even after 9 runs it is still 2.75.

  164. Lad9 says:

Criticism is most certainly allowed and you are right. Not Clint’s finest hour.

  165. Jandy says:

I dunno, Hipposter, I recall AJ taking one for the team. But yeah, I hate to see Frankie get lit up like this.

  166. theplanisworking says:

Your opinion about the Bucs offering a package for Stanton has been refuted by both the GM of the Marlins, and a Miami newspaper.

  167. Jason81 says:

I may just roll of my couch later. But only to check for trolls underneath it. :D

  168. Jandy says:

    dang they sure do

  169. Jandy says:

LMAO! Just don’t drop any food on the floor ;)

  170. Jason81 says:

Knowing how a series in Colorado can take it’s toll on a bullpen, it wouldn’t surprise me to see Clint try and squeeze 4 or 5 innings out of Frankie.

  171. Patrick(ri) says:

9? Looks like he will go for 18.

  172. Lad9 says:

Yep he is my fourth and last I am a lucky dad due to all of them.

  173. theplanisworking says:

    + a whole bunch!!!

    You may squash them………

  174. Jason81 says:

My cat would probably take care of it first!

Oops, my cat doesn’t like sports. I should probably stop talking now! ;)

  175. Dave G says:

    Finally got my video working.

Looks like I wasn’t missing anything!

    Liriano is still pitching? Unbelievable.

  176. theplanisworking says:

I wonder if Clint is trying to keep the bullpen fresh for the Cardinal series??

  177. Jandy says:

    yes and yes!

  178. Thundercrack says:

    I agree with you Jason.

Way early in a game in Colorado

  179. Jandy says:

    LOL…you’re on a roll, Jason ;)

  180. Lad9 says:

We could bring up a pitcher from Indy to absorb some innings if needed. Hey, maybe he could fly in on the same plane as Lambo…. :)

  181. pattonbb says:

    I meant 1-9

  182. Jason81 says:

It definitely helps when the material is handed to you on a silver platter.

  183. Jandy says:

fourth??? Holy schmoley! You deserve a medal , man!

  184. Jason81 says:

    So much for that theory.

  185. Jandy says:

    true dat ;)

  186. It’s that lighter air that’s doing it to Frankie. Come on Vin and shark tank – shut them down. Come on offense!

  187. theplanisworking says:

Can anyone now please explain the difference keeping him in one more inning makes?

Rather have seen a middle reliever take the bumps than Frankie.

However, as I type this, I see Clint hugging Frankie.
At least there is that positive.

  188. Jandy says:

Clint is trying to talk calmly to Frankie…I feel for both of them

  189. Lad9 says:

I don’t mind leaving a sacrificial lamb out there, but not my stud starter. It sounds cold, but that is why we have guys like Vin, Gomez, and Hughes.

  190. It would be nice if Chicago would help out and just beat the cards tonight and over the weekend too. I know we wills till be in first after tonight, but I want to hold onto this lead as much as possible.

  191. theplanisworking says:

    ……………… and a beer!

  192. theplanisworking says:

    + a whole bunch!!!

  193. Fish says:

    Jandy,
As a regular lurker and occasional poster, I look forward to hearing about the car, jobs etc. It lends a touch of personality to our lil thing here. This is like talking sports around the end of the bar with some friends…….it isn’t ALL sports ALL the time. I know I’m not the only one that feels that way either so……That’s all…..

  194. Lad9 says:

Like I said, lucky. The four best things that ever happened to me….

  195. Jandy says:

    :) you are truly blessed

  196. Jandy says:

Fish, why, thanks, friend. I appreciate that, truly. Chime in here more, we love chatting with our blog friends.
Does Biz have your location in the Lunatics’ Asylum?

  197. Thundercrack says:

The pitcher’s spot in the order was up second the next time the Pirates batted. That might have had something to do with it.

Loriano ended up throwing 73 pitches.

  198. Jandy says:

See? We just can’t catch a break tonight. Cutch missed a homer by how many feet?
Oh well, like I said, can’t win them all.

  199. Jandy says:

at least it quit raining here. Brandie isn’t getting wet :)

  200. Jandy says:

    but they lost 8-5 bummer

  201. Jandy says:

    excellent!

  202. theplanisworking says:

    Fish,

many props to you for that post.

  203. Any chance Fowler gets 9 ABs tonight? That would be something.

  204. Jandy says:

there are many good guys on here to make up for the trolls. I won’t let no silly troll make me frown ;)

  205. Jandy says:

    well, Vin did just fine

  206. theplanisworking says:

Hope she bought a Mallo Cup.

  207. Thundercrack says:

‘I see they do have nachos up there though’

Nevrett with the funny. Atta boy Tim!

  208. Jandy says:

Hipposter, I will send you some Mallocups if you give me an address

  209. Jandy says:

see? Another deep on the track…just not our night oh well

  210. Thundercrack says:

    Not our night.

Are they using humidor baseballs for both teams?
Ours are dying on the warning track.

  211. Jandy says:

    GMTA!

  212. theplanisworking says:

    :D

Jandy, I can buy them at the market just down the street from me any time I want.

I just like them, and I know you two are from the Al-Tuna area.

But thank you for the offer. :D

  213. theplanisworking says:

The Rockies are getting the “dry” baseballs.

Our baseballs are being soaked in Frank’s rocks glass. ;)

  214. Lad9 says:

I always like the Smoothie when I was growing up. Do they still make them there?

  215. Jandy says:

oh well that’s all good then :)

  216. theplanisworking says:

    I think so.

They are the peanut butter cup, right?

  217. Jandy says:

yes they are and yes they do :)

  218. Lad9 says:

    Yep. With no chocolate.

  219. Kevin says:

    GOOOOoooo CUBBIEEEEEeees!!!

  220. Jandy says:

    I’ll second that!

  221. theplanisworking says:

    Can I third it?

  222. Jandy says:

    absotively!

  223. theplanisworking says:

    Posilutely? ;)

  224. Kevin says:

Cubbies just need to close. Complete shutout @ cards. = almost as good as a pirates win.

  225. Jandy says:

    sho nuff! ;)

  226. Jandy says:

    yup!

  227. Jandy says:

    Good job, Lurch :)

  228. theplanisworking says:

    Good Night Miss Nun.

Glad to be part of a blog that tolerates jobs, cars, kids, and the other important things in life.

Tonight is one of the “54″ each year. Many things went wrong tonight, but I am not worried about most of them. I just dont want to see Clint do what he did tonight with Frankie ever again.

    Enjoy, Loonies!

  229. Jason81 says:

But only because it was sports related. :)

  230. Dave G says:

Hughes looks like Woody from ‘Cheers’

  231. Thundercrack says:

Jared Hughes looks like he may have lost some weight from last year.

So far the results are good

  232. Jandy says:

    agreed!

  233. Jandy says:

I am off to dreamland too, I have to get hubby up at 6am as he has work. G’night :)

  234. Jandy says:

    Lurch from the Munsters lol

  235. Jandy says:

    Night all :)

  236. Dave G says:

    You mean ‘Addams Family’?

  237. Karen22 says:

Is it over yet?? I stopped watching after the 2nd inning and started watching yesterday’s game, which I attended, on DVR! Much more pleasurable, even the second time around!

  238. Brandie says:

Not a good night all around. Buccos come out on the short end as did the Curve. Also saw it was a tough night on the blog. Thanks to all of those who kept it light and remembered that this is both a sports and social place. I will report in the morning on the Curve’s doings.

  239. Reading says:

Cards loss reduces the Pirates’ Magic Number for the division to 44.

  240. Dave G says:

    Josh Harrison pitching. For real.

  241. JHay the pitcher! Awesome!

  242. Dave G says:

    Harrison:

    ERA 0.000

  243. Thundercrack says:

Word is that JHay is on a strict pitch count

    75

  244. Give it to Clint, he took a chance to save the bullpen a little and get some sort of feel good moment out of this crummy game. Nice pitching JHay!

  245. Thundercrack says:

I suspect regression will set in for JHay as a pitcher

  246. Jason81 says:

I think that was actually his speed limit.

  247. Dave G says:

    Certainly not sustainable.

  248. Jay H says:

You got it. You have to look at the big picture. The starter’s job is to eat innings. When something like tonight happens, especially first game of a road trip, CH is not going to blow out the bullpen on night one. Francisco has to wear it – so CH rides him until his pitch count is maxed out. It’s one game out of 162 and that’s the way you have to look at it. Most of us played high school and or college and we only play 25 -50 game seasons and the team can’t take many losses, so our mindset is to get the starter out of there. But in the bigs the starters are told their main job is to go as deep into a game as possible – eat innings – a totally different mindset than the average fan is used to. And sometimes that means you’re going to take your lumps

  249. Fish says:

OK….Whoever had J-Hay at no walks, no runs in 1/3 inning pitched wins the pool…….i only missed by 7 runs……..

  250. Daquido_Bazzini says:

Money can stick in a rusty wallet…..

  251. Ghost says:

Still a huge Liriano fan, but he’s not supposed to do this when I’ve nominated him for team MVP. ;(

Really like Albert Pujols the human being, but now that Jack Clark has said it out loud, I think this is the beginning of the end of Albert. HIs public statement sounds just like Barry’s and everyone else’s who danced around the topic and said everything EXCEPT “I never took steroids.” What Pujols did say was “I ‘would’ never take… anything illegal.” He avoids saying “steroids,” “banned substances,” etc., employing the vague pronoun “anything” instead. Also, using the qualifier “illegal” asks more questions than it answers. And the word “would” is ambiguous: It can be used to convey the past tense, but also the subjunctive (hypothetical) mode. I believe this ambiguity was intentional. Lastly, Pujols’ repeated indignation about his family’s name being besmirched just strikes me as another rhetorical ploy to divert attention away from the absence of any clear cut denial that the man ever doped.
