    Beat Em Bucs
    Shades of 60

  4. Guess Cutch’s shoulder is better.

    Thank God.

  5. I read the blog and I have since back when Dejan was with the Post-Gazette. I’m from Maquoketa, Iowa.

    DK: Thanks, Josh!

  6. Can Dom get his own thread?

    Betcha it beats the Riverh………

  7. #freedelmon

  8. #1. OVER

    #2. UNDER

    #3. OVER

Each for 100 Dom right fielders.

  9. I read the give and take on Alex Rios on the last thread.

    Yeah, everyone says he stinks.
Yeah, he wouldnt have been much of an upgrade.
And Yeah, he definitely has some attitude and hustle issues.

But I am a little weary of everything this FO says or does having a cloud over it.

Trade deadline — one source says they went after Stanton, one source says they didnt.
Now, neal says the price for everyone was “insane”, today the Rangers got Rios for literally nothing.

I just wish this didnt happen repeatedly, it distracts from the games.

Now I know why Frank drinks.

    • You are right–they got Rios for nothing and we play Tabata, who was amused that Marte got picked off first. Marlins GM says never talked to Pirates about Stanton. More front office blowing smoke to appease the fans that Neal “tried” to do something.

      • My point was more about the “honesty” of the FO.
Given their history the past 6 years, with their half-truths and outright lies, just simply amazing they havent grasped the concept of honesty, or the concept of not saying anything.

It really does distract from the team.

        • The FO never said the price for Rios was insane.
He didn’t say the price for everyone was insane

They never said they went after Stanton. RB reported that they made an offer for him which was good enough to make the Marlins stop and consider. The report made it sound like Stanton was never on the market but the Pirates did offer an interesting packag of players.

  10. When ever did we get 4 straight hits and 0 runs? Weird!

    • Certainly don’t see that everyday. Only good thing that inning, at the rate he is going De La Rosa will struggle to make it 5-6 innings tonight.

  11. Oh Pedro…….

  12. JHay should have pinch-hit for Pedro

  13. No clutch Pedro and Gaby come thru again–what else is new??

  14. I bet Lambo would’ve hit a hr there.

  15. 4 hits, but zero runs. Now that’s pitiful- Marte is a good player but stupid. We still have that problem of hitting with RISP. I could have bet my house that Sir Whiffs-a-lot would either strike out or hit into DP. We can’t win them all, but this was a horrible way to start a game.

  16. Was not expecting this from Liriano tonight. Rockies have cashed in on their four hits.

  17. The Pirate first was a bad omen. If only Marte wouldn’t have got himself picked off, and we had some hitters with RISP, we would be ahead instead of them. I know Liriano had to be disappointed with that situation.

  18. Rockies are a completely different team at Coors.

We just need to chip away at this like we did with the Miami series.

  19. I guess Frankie doesn’t like rain.

    • Welcome to the Fun House, Jandy.
Check your Eeyore at the door.

      ;)

      • hmmpfff….lotsa gloom from some in here.
And ya know what, if we lose a game….the world won’t end.
        Imagine that?

        • And here, I get accused of being an Eeyore.
Christ, they have no idea of the meaning of the word.

You’re right, the world wont end.
Make sure you tell Frank that. ;)

By the way, How is your husband, your cars, and jobs???

        • And here, I get accused of being an Eeyore.

  20. I think Leyva spooked himself yesterday

  21. Come on folks, from the little I’ve read, there has been a lot of dickering and shots

IMHO that is not what this place is all about

  22. Big THANK YOU to Johnny Ray 3 for posting the lines for me today.
    It is appreciated.

  23. This feels like one of those games that will end up 11-9.

  24. Be sure to grow the fingernails long, you will be chewing them from here on out.

  25. Wehner just covered for Tabby. It was a lazy play – lights may have been a problem.

  26. My MLB TV isnt working tonight. Don’t know why.

Just checked the box score and… whoa…Bucs have 6 hits and two walks in the first two innings and only ONE run???

  27. Hey Jandy! I am. checking in from the Hilton Garden Inn in Blacksburg VA as college decision tour 2013 continues. Can’t watch the game but have it on Sirrius on my phone. But enough sports. How is the job going? Did hubby get that car to work by the way? :)

  28. All those runners on base and all we get is one run on a sac fly.

  29. Frankie is one of our best.

Please Clint, get him out of the game!!!!!!!!!!

  30. who’s the innings eater tonight in the pen? Hughes?

  31. Not a good evening so far all around. Still time to make a comeback, but will have to score a ton of runs to do so. This falling behind by several runs thing has got to stop.

  32. Bucs playing like AJ is pitching…very sloppy all around. Pedro, Mercer, Sanchez, Tabby and now Marte have either errors or bobbles or bad plays….

    • I don’t know if I’d call that an error by Marte, or even a bad play…he just couldn’t get to the ball…it was hit in just the right place…all the chips are falling the Rockie’s way tonight…not the Pirate’s way.

  33. Just remember, all you Eeyore’s and Chicken Little’s out there, no matter what happens by the end of this game this team will still be in 1st place. I don’t think we need to go searching for the nearest tall building.

  34. Finally got my video working.

Looks like I wasn’t missing anything!

    Liriano is still pitching? Unbelievable.

  35. It’s that lighter air that’s doing it to Frankie. Come on Vin and shark tank – shut them down. Come on offense!

  36. Clint is trying to talk calmly to Frankie…I feel for both of them

  37. It would be nice if Chicago would help out and just beat the cards tonight and over the weekend too. I know we wills till be in first after tonight, but I want to hold onto this lead as much as possible.

  38. See? We just can’t catch a break tonight. Cutch missed a homer by how many feet?
Oh well, like I said, can’t win them all.

  39. at least it quit raining here. Brandie isn’t getting wet :)

  40. Any chance Fowler gets 9 ABs tonight? That would be something.

  41. well, Vin did just fine

  42. ‘I see they do have nachos up there though’

Nevrett with the funny. Atta boy Tim!

  43. see? Another deep on the track…just not our night oh well

  44. Not our night.

Are they using humidor baseballs for both teams?
Ours are dying on the warning track.

  45. GOOOOoooo CUBBIEEEEEeees!!!

  46. Good job, Lurch :)

  47. Hughes looks like Woody from ‘Cheers’

  48. Jared Hughes looks like he may have lost some weight from last year.

So far the results are good

  49. Is it over yet?? I stopped watching after the 2nd inning and started watching yesterday’s game, which I attended, on DVR! Much more pleasurable, even the second time around!

    • Not a good night all around. Buccos come out on the short end as did the Curve. Also saw it was a tough night on the blog. Thanks to all of those who kept it light and remembered that this is both a sports and social place. I will report in the morning on the Curve’s doings.

  50. Cards loss reduces the Pirates’ Magic Number for the division to 44.

  51. Josh Harrison pitching. For real.

  52. Harrison:

    ERA 0.000

  53. Word is that JHay is on a strict pitch count

    75

  54. Give it to Clint, he took a chance to save the bullpen a little and get some sort of feel good moment out of this crummy game. Nice pitching JHay!

  55. I suspect regression will set in for JHay as a pitcher

  56. Still a huge Liriano fan, but he’s not supposed to do this when I’ve nominated him for team MVP. ;(

Really like Albert Pujols the human being, but now that Jack Clark has said it out loud, I think this is the beginning of the end of Albert. HIs public statement sounds just like Barry’s and everyone else’s who danced around the topic and said everything EXCEPT “I never took steroids.” What Pujols did say was “I ‘would’ never take… anything illegal.” He avoids saying “steroids,” “banned substances,” etc., employing the vague pronoun “anything” instead. Also, using the qualifier “illegal” asks more questions than it answers. And the word “would” is ambiguous: It can be used to convey the past tense, but also the subjunctive (hypothetical) mode. I believe this ambiguity was intentional. Lastly, Pujols’ repeated indignation about his family’s name being besmirched just strikes me as another rhetorical ploy to divert attention away from the absence of any clear cut denial that the man ever doped.
