  1. FIRST!!

    And Riverpuppies! ;)

  2. What was the move to make room for Lambo? Pirates haven’t even put it up on their own site!

  3. I don’t know that they needed to make a spot for lambo. I am pretty sure they had a spot on the 40 man open.

    Beat Em Bucs

    Go like 60

  5. Ok, why bring Lambo up if he isn’t going to play?

    We all love Tabata?

  6. Ha! That Lambo dude isn’t even good enough to crack our starting lineup.

Makes my job a helluva lot easier when I don’t have to hunt to find everyone’s “wagers”

Max “wager” is 100 units on any single line.
All “wagers” must be in multiples of 5 units.
Play as few or as many lines as you’d like.
As always, this is for fun and entertainment purposes.

    Tonight’s Line
Total Combined HITS + WALKS + HBP by Jose Tabata in tonight’s game
    Line is 0.5

Please Note – All games must be considered official games in order for line(s) to be valid. Any postponement, cancellation, or suspension of game(s) will void line(s).

    GOOD LUCK!!!

70 Down, only 12 more to go!!

Anything is possible if a person believes
    Mark 9:23

    KEEP CALM & BREAK .500

This long distance dedication goes out to Mr. Lambo, CONGRATS Sir!!!

  8. Should check out the rational viewpoints on the last thread about this issue. Clint doesn’t usually like to put a new guy in right away if he doesn’t have to, Tabata has a good career record against the Cardinals at Busch, especially Wainwright (not fact checked) and I think Neal loves to mess with the Blog.

  9. Yet, no Barmes tonight. Huh.

  10. This past weekend, Man U defeated Wigan 2-0 for a trophy……. the Shield I think?
The Riverhounds can take a small bit of credit in that win…………. after all, Man U requested the tape of the friendly between the Riverhounds and Wigan.

Wouldnt it be great if FREE LAMBO!!! got a key PH tonight?
After all, he is the equivalent of the Riverhounds being the underdog, right?

    GO BUCS!!!
    GO LAMBO !!!
    GO HOUNDS !!!

  11. I’m sure there was much discussion this morning about Lambo starting/not starting.

Is this really a big surprise that he’s not in the lineup tonight?

    • Not to me.. the only folks viewing Lambo’s recall as some sort of ‘savior’ type of move reside on this blog. The Bucs were simply done with the Elvis experiment and Lambo represents a hoped-for upgrade to what AP was providing. He also could’ve started tonight if Marte wasn’t able to go.

That said, I do expect him to start tomorrow and maybe Thursday; Tabby’s numbers vs. Wainright are good and CH goes with that religiously for the most part.

      • I agree. He’s no savior, at least at this point. His numbers are very impressive, no doubt, but they are AA/AAA numbers stacked together.

It is time to see what he’s made of though, but I don’t expect him to come up and hit 15 HRs and lead us the promise land……..though I wouldn’t complain if that were the case.

I also think he’ll get the start tomorrow. Let him take in the experience. Then put him out there.

I have no problem with how CH handles these call ups.

  12. Good luck proving slander or libel Albert. You have no case.

  13. I sincerely hope that this goes better than the Jeff Clement experience last year. There was nothing worse during the collapse than watching the Pirates’ secret weapon PH in key situations and fail almost every time.

I’ll give Lambo a chance. I’m encouraged by the possible presence of an attitude. I’d rather see an attitude than a deer in the headlights.

  14. Calling PH Grand Slam for Lambo…The Denny’s Grand Slam-bo!

  15. Weather Condition
    Game Time: 8:15pm ET
    Current: Mostly Cloudy
    Forecast: Partly Cloudy
    Cardinals starting lineup:

    Pitcher:Adam Wainwright – R
    # Pos Player
    1 2B Matt Carpenter – L
    2 RF Carlos Beltran – S
    3 1B Allen Craig – R
    4 LF Matt Holliday – R
    5 3B David Freese – R
    6 CF Jon Jay – L
    7 C Tony Cruz – R

Game is on MLB Network as well.
    8 SS Pete Kozma – R
    9 P Adam Wainwright – R

  16. Got an even better nickname for Lambo…Lambo-rghini! Our own humnasn version of a Super Car!

  17. So, Lambo is starting after all. Giddy up!

  18. Tabata scratched with flu like symptoms. A .462 batting average & 1.362 OPS vs. Wainwright couldn’t cure him ? Unbelievable.

    • Maybe Lambo slipped Tabata a mickey.

    • I’m confused Milo. I know I haven’t been around all day, but are you suggesting that his flu-like symptoms is BS and he should start with those symptoms?

I’ve had a busy day, so my mind may be a little squishy this afternoon

      • My inclination is to refer you to Dwight White. But I get into trouble when I do things like that. So I’m going to say what a tough break for a kid that’s always there when you need him. Wasn’t much better, was it ?

    • Not surprising. Tabata’s been a big baby since he joined the team.

  19. I see we’re taking the Lambo out for a test drive tonight. You do realize that unless he’s the re-incarnated Roy Hobbs, this has disappointment written all over it, right?

Tabby shouldn’t of had that third order of ribs at Pappy’s Smokehouse today.

    Lets Go Bucs!!!!!

  20. I need more cowbell……….

  21. The guy on 93.7 The Fan just called Lambo “The Lambino!”

  22. Just wait until Greg “I’m gonna pop a vein one of these days” Brown calls a Lambo hit. “That pitch came in like a lion and went out like a LAMBO!”

  23. Gio Gonzalez and Jason Werth having words with each other in their dugout. I love a good under-achieving soap opera.

  24. Yep! If nothing else he sure does have a GREAT name!

(Now please live up to it…no pressure)!

  25. I heard Lambo on the Fan pregame. Have to take back what I said yesterday based on his reported Facebook comment. Sounds very mature, articulate and down to earth.

  26. Nice Hurdleism – about the games in Colorado – “in the first game we got boat-raced.” Anyone know what that means?

  27. First pitch… bases loaded…. Andrew Lambo hits a grandslam

  28. Come on Lambo Calrissian ( for all you Star Wars fans).

  29. Another one…

    “Wham! Bam! Thank you Lambo!”

    Home run call!

  30. There goes the perfect game.

  31. Walk starts it off with the first hit. Come on Cutch.

  32. CUTCH !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  34. Cutch going oppo, baby!!!! 2-0 Buccos!

    • how good does Cutch look when he goes the other way?? WHen he does that, MVP…when he tries to pull everything, he is just merely a good player. If only he can remember what he does when he is going well and never stop doing it.

  35. Martin with the dugout F-bomb !

  36. Come on Morton… 2-0 lead and you walk the leadoff hitter.

  38. Way to clean up Charlie’s leadoff walk by Walker doubling off Carpenter at first.

  39. In Honor of Lambos first MLB at-bat………

Now the Lambo Lies Down on Broadway. :)

  40. Here comes The Answer with his first major league at bat…

  41. …..send him down.

  42. MERCER PA. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  43. MERCER PA. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  44. Jordy!!!!!! Must be the thin air in Missouri !

  45. That looked like a tribute to Tabata in that it just squibbed down the line. And Jordy answers himself with a tater to Left for a 3-0 lead!

  46. Wainwright’s a bum !

  47. Bats are waking up……

  48. Charlie joining in on the hit parade!!

  49. Now that the family big screen is available, I’m off to watch the Pirates broadcast on MLB Network. Have a good one everyone, and Go Bucs!!!!

  50. Adam Dunn would have made that play that Jones flubbed.

  51. And at-bat #2 for the side of Lambo………………

  52. Jerry Layne’s strike zone is anybody’s guess. Both ways.

  53. C’mon Charlie…

  54. One of the fastest men on the planet on 3rd with less than 2 outs, and the heart of our order can never get him home. Really pitiful baseball, no matter how many games they win.

  55. Pedro needs a few days off. He and Jones are killing this team offensively, especially this month.

  56. Charley is pitching well–hope he keeps it up. Of course, Bob Walk could tell him how to throw a three seamer. Walk is babbling more than Steve Blass.

  57. Lambo on the rod up for his third chance.

    • Eeek.

Well, I hope some people dont go looking for their pitchforks and torches just yet.

      • True, but people are expecting too much from the kid. If he was that good, he would have been called up before Presley some time ago. He is not a savior for this offensively weak right field situation.

  58. The Silence of the Lambo.

  59. 5 inning Charley at it again. Hope Hurdle learned from the Burnett experiment the other day???

  60. Yo. In his first three at bats in the bigs, after six years in the minors, the right fielder so many of you on this site have been campaigning to be brought up, has looked like a lamb being led to the slaughter.
I say, give him a chance. If he can’t come through with hits when they’re needed, they can do with him what they’ve been doing with Presley and Tabata. Call it the Pirates’ yo-yo.

  61. Milo (re above), I see Craig is awesome with .481 average batting in third spot with RISP. That must raise the average. Above Cutch?

  62. Morton falls apart in the 6th inning every start. How his coach can’t figure this out and leaves him hanging out to dry is bewildering. Much less let him pitch to a lefty with a man on 3rd base and 1st base open. I’m dumbfounded.

Cutch failing to get Marte in a couple innings back is looking pretty big right now.

  63. Lambo, First Dud

  64. With all those pitches he threw early, it’s borderline criminal they let Wainwright hang around this long. If they blow this one it will be really tough to shake.

    • 2 innings they got the leadoff man on base and then hit into a GDP. Marte was stranded at third with 1 out. 3 innings down the drain.

  65. Cole is the only one who didn’t get a hug from Charlie.
Obviously there is a feud there.

    • If you’ve been watching Cole’s behavior and body language since he came up, expecially the looks on his face, he appears to be a cold fish. No wonder his teamates give him a wide berth.

  66. 6 outs to Melancon.

  67. This may be the youngest team by average the Bucs have put on the field this season. I haven’t checked, but it looks like Martin, at 30, is the eldest. Two rookies and one second year man (Marte).

    • yea,
But look out–we have the G boys in the game. Gaby and Garrett–their offensive prowess will solve all problems.

  68. Get a couple runs here and everyone relaxes.

  69. Ugly, again.

  70. Well…..that kinda sucked.

  71. Leadoff runner on second, then 3 K’s

  72. How do you continue to bat Pedro fourth???He does not have what it takes. What is he batting this month??

  73. This is unbelievable with this team…

  74. And now we will see if our bullpen against their fab hitters is up to this task. i say, “Yes!”

  75. Nice pitch.

  76. It is still hard to believe that NH thinks this offense is sufficient…

  77. Was playing toooooo close to the line – needlessly.

Stop the double yes; stop the single also. Bad field positioning.

  78. Big scary out. Thank goodness for outfield positioning.

  79. Who said he’s a better fielder than Garret?

  80. Bryan Morris is worse for my blood pressure than that chili-cheeseburger, fries and beer I had for dinner.

  81. Watson must be tired from the off day.

  82. I cannot believe Hurdle put Morris in the game.

  83. Rightie leftie match up

  84. You don’t need range at first base – you need reflexes

  85. Odds it will be 5-3 in a moment?

  86. Holy shift!

  87. Have I mentioned lately that I love the shift ?

  88. WOW !!!!

Walker saved Morris’s and Hurdle’s ass there!!!!!

    Nice play!!!!

  89. WOW !!!!

Walker saved Morris’s and Hurdle’s ass there!!!!!

    Nice play!!!!

  91. Luck beats good every time!!!

  92. Ha Ha They moved Walker to a perfect position. Got out of the inning with perfect fielder positioning with Jones and Walker. Way to read those charts, Clint !

  93. Now that IS POSITIONING.

Hats off to my main man CH!!!!

  94. Walker’s catch just now, maybe the most important of the season so far, shows why the Pirates have the best fielding average in the majors.

  95. Scoreless inning in the boxscore.

  96. Time for some Farmers Insurance insurance runs !

  97. A big ole pile of shiiiiiffffffftttttt work!!!

  98. Never thought I’d day this…hurdle is a genius

  99. I’m going to sleep at 10:30 no matter what. No extra innings !!!

  100. Dare I say the Cardinals got #HURDLED ??? :D

  101. OMFG!!!!

  102. WHAT WAS THAT ?!?!?!

  103. Matty Alou, can of corn. Ugh.

  104. not believing what I just saw.

  105. I didn’t know we traded for Soriano

  106. 7 errors for a LF is not good

  107. Can we ever have an easy game???

  108. Well that makes up for the gift the Pirates got from the Astros

  109. Game of inches…foul ball.

  110. Beltran has a history of striking out with two outs in the bottom of the ninth.

  111. the unintentional intentional walk?

  112. He’d rather pitch to Mr. RISP.

  113. Ughhhhh…

  114. Old .481 himself.

  115. Unreal.

    Just unreal.

  116. Unreal.

    Just unreal.

  117. Thank goodness for the cut off but oh my….

  118. Amazing things happen when you don’t overswing and you put the bat on the ball. This game shoul be over, even with this run.

  119. This is why the Pirates are the Pirates and the Cards are the Cards.

  120. Lollipop effort by Marte with his cute one hand catch. He and Tabata have some similarities.

  121. Brandt Brown.

  122. Can MARTE be charged with a BS??? What a mess…

  123. The only thing worse than a bunt is a successful bunt.

  124. Uh-oh, Milo, Mazzarro is warming up.

  125. Back in the day, unless you were Willie Mays, outfielders caught the ball with TWO hands and that was what the rest of us were taught to do. Seeing Cutch and Marte and most of the other fielders on TV make such one-handed catches has worried me since it started.
I blame Marte’s mistake on his stupid desire to look OH SO CASUAL in trying to make that catch just now. Idiot!

  126. They’re stupid if they don’t walk McCutchen.

  127. I wonder if Cutch will drive him in? That would be his first clutch hit of the year.

  128. This is when you go the other way with a little slap single Cutch!!

  129. In case anyone didn’t notice, that looked like Marte’s poor attempt to mimic McCutchen’s stiff-wrist, side-saddle catches in center on routine flies.

He needs to just catch the ball and not worry about styling.

  130. Could have had a soul crushing injury there. Whew!

  131. This offense is a damn joke.

  132. Wow, he even makes exciting outs. An MVP requires getting at least one clutch hit during the season. Or driving in a runner on 3rd base with less than 2 outs (instead of watching a called 3rd strike).

  133. This is more painful than Colorado. At least it is an hour earlier.

  134. Bad things usually happen with lead off walks. Very. Bad. Things.

  135. When the Pirates lose, fans better start getting a grasp of reality. This team will not win the division. You’re better off watching Arizona and hoping the implosion won’t be bad enough this year to fade out of the playoff picture. I still think they get the last playoff spot.

  136. Damn Mazzarro…how about finding the strike zone, huh??

  137. Don’t deserve to win this one. Night, fellas.

  138. And, Gaby is in for defense?? The damn guy stinks!!

  139. Wow….playing the same way as in Colorado….sloppy, sloppy, sloppy…

  140. The old quarterback is the only Pirate keepng his cool.

  141. I do believe the pressure is beginning to get to this team…

  142. Good night.

  143. Have to give Vin credit there….

  144. Reds just went up 6-4 in the 11th….have to win this game….

  145. Remember 3 hours ago, when we scored ?

  146. We cannot have a .234 hitter batting clean-up, especially one who K’s so much. He can still hit his HR’s batting sixth you know

  147. Whoooppeee….Barmes off the bench….

  148. Mercer struckout against a groundball specialist. The pitch was up and out over the plate. Go the other way with a controlled swing? Nah.

  149. Time to load up the bases….

  150. Walk this guy!

  151. Yes!! Nice Jeanmar….

  152. Jay Hay doubters should be ashamed by now.

  153. Way to go Pedro!

  154. Bout time!

  155. Clutch Martin at the plate…

  156. Fear the Barmes

  157. RUN HOME

  158. I swear Leyva does not take enough chances…

    • Wow, whichever team loses this will be bummed (Cardinals, I hope!). Marte’s inexplicable error was the big gaffe for the Bucs… Cards have made some strange decisions, biggest one being letting the pitcher hit into the double play….

No surprise, the Bucs bullpen has been great… but the Cards have shut the Bucs down after the 2nd inning…

  159. McCutchen came up small for the third time.

  160. OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  161. This is UNBELIEVEABLE…..

  162. I want to be Cutch’s biggest fan, but he continually does things that make me believe he’s overrated. He does not deserve to be in the MVP discussion.

  163. You have to go on a ball to the right of the SS. He’s not going to throw McCutchen out at home from his knees.

  164. What’s the point of being fast if you freeze up and don’t use your speed.

  165. Between pitching around Beltran in the 9th (if that indeed what that was) with your Closer, and that baserunning brain fart, the Pirates are playing mentally scared.

I’m willing to chalk up Marte’s error as just that, need to get over it, but since then we’re playing the baseball equivalent of the prevent defense.

  166. Leyva is terrible. Always makes the wrong calls.

  167. The Cutch is not clutch discussion is too big to overlook. He doesn’t have “it”.

  168. There is a lot to like about the Pirates, but sharp, smart baseball is not an attribute. I reluctantly conclude that the Reds will pass both of these teams and win the division.

  169. Visiting team has to be agressive….

  170. So we give a pass to Beltran so that we can pitch to Craig???? Shaking my head…

  171. The way this game has gone, I’m surprised Hurdle didn’t pitch to Craig. And yet, the pitcher will probably win it here.

  172. Don’t friggin’ walk the pitcher!!

  173. Silver lining: Nevrett is not calling the game on tv

DK: Golden lining: My sound’s been down the entire time.

  174. At least we have Cole to PH and pitch….

  175. Justin Morneau would sure look good in our lineup…

  176. The guy who leads the team in BB% this year is 1 for 3 tonight and has seen 4 pitches.

  177. Put some pressure on this rookie.

  178. Geebus Neil…

  179. How many more years will it be before Walker realizes he can’t hit RH?

  180. Think maybe the pressure is getting to these guys just a bit….

  181. Way to have to blow up the bullpen in the first game of this series

Roster move tomorrow & bring up an arm?

  182. Wonderful….

  183. Collapse III

  184. You knew it was coming when Marte dropped that ball….just a matter of when

  185. Worst. Loss. Ever. Much worse than the Meals game because they did it all to themselves.
    Losing season number 21 anyone?
