    And Riverpuppies! ;)

  2. Brandie says:

Amen Plan! LET’S TEAR IT UP!

  3. diehard says:

What was the move to make room for Lambo? Pirates haven’t even put it up on their own site!

  4. AJS says:

I don’t know that they needed to make a spot for lambo. I am pretty sure they had a spot on the 40 man open.

  5. theplanisworking says:

    Presley down.

  6. theplanisworking says:

    Presley down.

  7. bizrow says:

    Presley to Indy

  8. Nate83 says:

Presley sent down. Him and JHay were the only ones with options and JHay is needed as a second middle infield back up.

  9. theplanisworking says:

How is you Cloudy with a chance of steroids? ;)

  10. Dom says:

They had two openings on the 40 man before adding Lambo and Presley was removed from the 25 man.

  11. AJS says:

Of course you were talking 25 man duh!

    Beat Em Bucs

    Go like 60

  13. diehard says:

Thanks – that didn’t take long!

  14. Nate83 says:

That is correct they did not. They had two spots open and Shappock took the other one I believe.

  15. John Lease says:

Ok, why bring Lambo up if he isn’t going to play?

    We all love Tabata?

  16. Brandie says:

Jack Clark’s autobiography. Doing well, Plan. Great to talk to our very own Hippo!

  17. theplanisworking says:

    FREE LAMBO !!!!!!!!!

  18. AJS says:

It may be that he is the second middle infield back up or it could be they swapped lefty for lefty. A little bit of both probably.

  19. theplanisworking says:

I think I may be suspected of using steroids.
I am 5 feet tall, 9 feet long and weigh 3000 pounds.

    That just isnt natural. ;)

  20. theplanisworking says:

I think I may be suspected of using steroids.
I am 5 feet tall, 9 feet long and weigh 3000 pounds.

    That just isnt natural. ;)

  21. AJS says:

My guess was that he didn’t want to give him his first start against a tough pitcher like Wainright. And you still bring him up because they’d rather have him coming off the bench to pinch hit than Presley.

  22. Thundercrack says:

Ha! That Lambo dude isn’t even good enough to crack our starting lineup.

  23. Brandie says:

    Grilled? Sounds tasty.

  24. theplanisworking says:

No, he is still on the DL.

  25. Brandie says:

You been juicing, Plan? And I’m not talkin’ Sunny D or Purple Stuff!

  26. Playoffs by 2012 says:

Makes my job a helluva lot easier when I don’t have to hunt to find everyone’s “wagers”

Max “wager” is 100 units on any single line.
All “wagers” must be in multiples of 5 units.
Play as few or as many lines as you’d like.
As always, this is for fun and entertainment purposes.

    Tonight’s Line
Total Combined HITS + WALKS + HBP by Jose Tabata in tonight’s game
    Line is 0.5

Please Note – All games must be considered official games in order for line(s) to be valid. Any postponement, cancellation, or suspension of game(s) will void line(s).

    GOOD LUCK!!!

70 Down, only 12 more to go!!

Anything is possible if a person believes
    Mark 9:23

    KEEP CALM & BREAK .500

This long distance dedication goes out to Mr. Lambo, CONGRATS Sir!!!

  27. 21sthebest says:

Silence of the ahhh never mind.

  28. Keith says:

100 on the OVER, please. Easy is Tabby leans into one.

  29. Arriba Wilver says:

Should check out the rational viewpoints on the last thread about this issue. Clint doesn’t usually like to put a new guy in right away if he doesn’t have to, Tabata has a good career record against the Cardinals at Busch, especially Wainwright (not fact checked) and I think Neal loves to mess with the Blog.

  30. theplanisworking says:

Unless you give me flash cards, I still cant do it, Milo. ;)

  31. Arriba Wilver says:

Ok, now it’s fact checked. :-)

  32. Keith says:

    Yet, no Barmes tonight. Huh.

  33. Karen22 says:

    50 on the OVER.

    GOTTA win this one, Buccos!!

  34. theplanisworking says:

100 Jack Clark “rememberances” on the OVER please.
    Or the WIN.
    Or something.

    Go Riverhounds.

  35. Arriba Wilver says:

100 snippy comments on the OVER.

    As always, thanks, Playoffs.

  36. cmat0829 says:

    100 over

  37. theplanisworking says:

    Hippo Juice.
    Doesnt sound good.

  38. Brandie says:

May I have 50 on the over please? Thanks.

  39. JD says:

    100 on the over please.

    Go Bucs!

  40. Playoffs by 2012 says:

It is an honor and a privilege, godfather.

  41. Stickyweb says:

    100 OVER. Great dedication. Thanks.

  42. theplanisworking says:

This past weekend, Man U defeated Wigan 2-0 for a trophy……. the Shield I think?
The Riverhounds can take a small bit of credit in that win…………. after all, Man U requested the tape of the friendly between the Riverhounds and Wigan.

Wouldnt it be great if FREE LAMBO!!! got a key PH tonight?
After all, he is the equivalent of the Riverhounds being the underdog, right?

    GO BUCS!!!
    GO LAMBO !!!
    GO HOUNDS !!!

  43. bizrow says:

100 on the over, he’ll do it just to tick the Rambo/Lambo supporters tonight ;-)

    Thanks as always Sir Playoffs

  44. Dadtackular says:

    100 lambos on the under

  45. bizrow says:

Neal likes to mess with us

Slick Frank either reads the blog or has a surrogate report on it ;-)

  46. Brandie says:

That’s probably where I got my thunderous hips, then. :-)

  47. theplanisworking says:

    Henderson, NV!!

  50. Jandy says:

Hippo juice? That’s just wrong! :x

  51. bizrow says:

I’m thinking maybe we should add Mars?

  52. Nor Cal Stlrfanrtc (Ryan) says:

    100 on OVER

  53. Jandy says:

That is my thought….he may get an at bat later in the game. I hope so, I’m curious to see how he does.

  54. Jandy says:

    Haha.go ahead. Say it

  55. Nor Cal Stlrfanrtc (Ryan) says:

I’m sure there was much discussion this morning about Lambo starting/not starting.

Is this really a big surprise that he’s not in the lineup tonight?

  56. MarkV says:

    50 on the over. Thanks!

  57. T.S. says:

Good luck proving slander or libel Albert. You have no case.

  58. Jandy says:

100 soccer kicks on the over please kind sir. Thanks for everything you do!

  59. bizrow says:

In today’s world, its all about optics

  60. Nor Cal Stlrfanrtc (Ryan) says:

    Small sample size

  61. cosmo says:

    100 on the over.

  62. cmat0829 says:

Not to me.. the only folks viewing Lambo’s recall as some sort of ‘savior’ type of move reside on this blog. The Bucs were simply done with the Elvis experiment and Lambo represents a hoped-for upgrade to what AP was providing. He also could’ve started tonight if Marte wasn’t able to go.

That said, I do expect him to start tomorrow and maybe Thursday; Tabby’s numbers vs. Wainright are good and CH goes with that religiously for the most part.

  63. Nate83 says:

    100 on the over. Thanks

  64. twentytwo22 says:

I sincerely hope that this goes better than the Jeff Clement experience last year. There was nothing worse during the collapse than watching the Pirates’ secret weapon PH in key situations and fail almost every time.

I’ll give Lambo a chance. I’m encouraged by the possible presence of an attitude. I’d rather see an attitude than a deer in the headlights.

  65. Nor Cal Stlrfanrtc (Ryan) says:

I agree. He’s no savior, at least at this point. His numbers are very impressive, no doubt, but they are AA/AAA numbers stacked together.

It is time to see what he’s made of though, but I don’t expect him to come up and hit 15 HRs and lead us the promise land……..though I wouldn’t complain if that were the case.

I also think he’ll get the start tomorrow. Let him take in the experience. Then put him out there.

I have no problem with how CH handles these call ups.

  66. Kr70 says:

100 on the over and thanks

  67. bizrow says:

Honestly, I have no problem with Lambo coming up, they want to see if they can add a chip in this race.

There wasn’t much there at the trade deadline

  68. Chico says:

50 on the over. Lets go bucs!

  69. Lad9 says:

Over for 100. Thank you. Go Buccos! And can someone pay my bail and get me out of Cleveland…. please!

  70. Brandie says:

    Good evening, Jandy!

  71. Brandie says:

Calling PH Grand Slam for Lambo…The Denny’s Grand Slam-bo!

  72. JohninOshkosh says:

  73. Brandie says:

LAAAAAADDDDDD NIIIIIIIIINNNNNNEEEE! I am on my way to bail you out! :-)

  74. Brandie says:

Got an even better nickname for Lambo…Lambo-rghini! Our own humnasn version of a Super Car!

  75. Brandie says:

    Human version!

  76. Frankie says:

    100 on the over

  77. JMB says:

    100 on OVER

  78. Jonathan says:

So, Lambo is starting after all. Giddy up!

  79. JMB says:

  80. JohninOshkosh says:

    “A little trick: with Lambo:

    Lambo, Lambo, bo-bambo,

  81. radio wave says:

At playoffs: I will take 100 on the over.

  82. Brandie says:

    Lambo Stick…

    How low can you go?

  83. Brandie says:

Get your popcorn. It’s now or never.

  84. Nor Cal Stlrfanrtc (Ryan) says:

I’ll change this to 100 on the Under, since he’s not starting anymore.

  85. Milo Hamilton says:

Tabata scratched with flu like symptoms. A .462 batting average & 1.362 OPS vs. Wainwright couldn’t cure him ? Unbelievable.

  86. pattonbb says:

    100 on the OVER, please.

  87. JohninOshkosh says:

    Lambo-over Maryland

    Lambo chops with mint jelly

    He’s on the Lambo

    Gwen Stefani’s L.A.M.B.O

    Mary had a little Lambo

  88. War Horse says:

    100 on the OVER, please.

  89. What did you get into young man?

  90. War Horse says:

Oops, didn’t realize Tabata is not playing. Please cancel my wager, thanks.

  91. 21sthebest says:

Maybe Lambo slipped Tabata a mickey.

  92. pattonbb says:

I see we’re taking the Lambo out for a test drive tonight. You do realize that unless he’s the re-incarnated Roy Hobbs, this has disappointment written all over it, right?

Tabby shouldn’t of had that third order of ribs at Pappy’s Smokehouse today.

    Lets Go Bucs!!!!!

  93. bizrow says:

    Welcome, Panther052, keep posting ;-)

  94. Drew71 says:

    Oh good.

I was just thinking it’s time for another mickey conversation.

  95. Nor Cal Stlrfanrtc (Ryan) says:

I’m confused Milo. I know I haven’t been around all day, but are you suggesting that his flu-like symptoms is BS and he should start with those symptoms?

I’ve had a busy day, so my mind may be a little squishy this afternoon

  96. Jandy says:

    Hey hey Brandanimal :)

  97. Jandy says:

It’s always nice to see new posters Panther052.:)

  98. Nor Cal Stlrfanrtc (Ryan) says:

    I need more cowbell……….

  99. Jason81 says:

    100 on the UNDER, please!

  100. Jandy says:

i see a line up change! Please change my wager to 100 on the under please!

  101. Milo Hamilton says:

My inclination is to refer you to Dwight White. But I get into trouble when I do things like that. So I’m going to say what a tough break for a kid that’s always there when you need him. Wasn’t much better, was it ?

  102. The guy on 93.7 The Fan just called Lambo “The Lambino!”

  103. I would like some too!

  104. theplanisworking says:

    and Area 51, too.

  105. theplanisworking says:

    and Area 51, too.

  106. T.S. says:

Not surprising. Tabata’s been a big baby since he joined the team.

  107. theplanisworking says:

Being there was a bait and switch with the lineup (thanks neal)

I would like to change my bet to

    100 on the UNDER.

    But still GO RIVERHOUNDS!!!

  108. Jandy says:

    I’ll chip in too lol

  109. T.S. says:

Just wait until Greg “I’m gonna pop a vein one of these days” Brown calls a Lambo hit. “That pitch came in like a lion and went out like a LAMBO!”

  110. I, also.

Anyone that wants to leave Cleveland, I’ll do anything to help them.

  111. theplanisworking says:

Maybe if you go with Ghost to rehab, they will give you a 2-for-1 special. ;)

  112. pattonbb says:

Gio Gonzalez and Jason Werth having words with each other in their dugout. I love a good under-achieving soap opera.

  113. Jandy says: and brandie are rolling!

  114. Milo Hamilton says:

A funny thing happened on the way to the World Series.

  115. Karen22 says:

Yep! If nothing else he sure does have a GREAT name!

(Now please live up to it…no pressure)!

  116. bizrow says:

    Reminds me of 1960

However the overall results are still to be determined

  117. theplanisworking says:

    Whats up, Nun Sense?

I will be back in time for the game.
    Dont eat all my popcorn.

  118. Arriba Wilver says:

I heard Lambo on the Fan pregame. Have to take back what I said yesterday based on his reported Facebook comment. Sounds very mature, articulate and down to earth.

  119. Arriba Wilver says:

    And grounded.

  120. JohninOshkosh says:

A lesson for us all. Playoff seasons for most are rare. Strasburg’s kids might be in college the next time the Nats make it there again-you just never know. Carpe Diem, baby.

  121. JohninOshkosh says:

    Great fun. Isn’t it ?

I’m not crazy. My Mother had me tested.

  122. JohninOshkosh says:

So he was a little sheepish ?

  123. Brandie says:

  124. Brandie says:

The difference between certified and certifiable!

  125. bizrow says:

Amen 20 years, 1997 excepted ( or was it 96?)

    Whatever far tooooo long ago

  126. Nice Hurdleism – about the games in Colorado – “in the first game we got boat-raced.” Anyone know what that means?

  127. Eric Bowser says:

First pitch… bases loaded…. Andrew Lambo hits a grandslam

  128. bizrow says:

Lets hope he can hit ;-)

  129. Arriba Wilver says:

Not at all. Very impressive without coming across as cocky or overly timid.

Doesn’t mean he can hit. ;-)

  130. Eric Bowser says:

To be beaten very badly at something, especially in such a fashion that you were behind from the start and never had a chance. Comes from the Boat Race, an annual rowing competition between Oxford and Cambridge, in which the first side to get ahead can move to the middle of the river (where the current is fastest) and is almost never overtaken thereafter.

  131. JohninOshkosh says:

  132. Sounded like something out of “The Sandlot.”

  133. JD says:

    100 under now.

    Go Lambo! Go Bucs!

  134. bizrow says:

Got the crap beat out of us

  135. Thanks, Eric. I learned my one thing for the day!

  136. Brandie says:

Come on Lambo Calrissian ( for all you Star Wars fans).

  137. Arriba Wilver says:

    Still thinking alike, Biz. ;-)

  138. Brandie says:

    You’re killin’me, Smalls.”

  139. Arriba Wilver says:

  140. Bill Born says:

    100 on under

  141. JohninOshkosh says:

    (bowing respectfully)

  142. Bdhumbert says:

OK I’ll bite 100 on the over. Jose needs to get on base at least twice to keep Lambo on the bench

  143. Brandie says:

    Another one…

    “Wham! Bam! Thank you Lambo!”

    Home run call!

  144. pattonbb says:

That’s the one that should stick! They can play an audio clip of Lando saying, “I’ve just made a deal that’ll keep the Empire out of here forever” before every at bat.

  145. Arriba Wilver says:

I’m assuming this line will be void. But just in case, I’ll change to the Under for 100. :-)

  146. Chico says:

Now that Tabata’s out and Lambo’s in, I’d like to switch to 100 on the under please…

  147. theplanisworking says:

    Yechhhhhhh…….. Dennys.

  148. Irish says:

    100 on Under,
    Thanks, Playoffs!

  149. Brandie says:

When things go wrong, as they are bound to…

    “It’s not my fault!”

  150. theplanisworking says:

    Thank You, Darth Brandie.

  151. blazer says:

    100 on the under please.

  152. lupesanchez says:

    Lambo: First Blood Part XXI.

“Do we get to win this time?”

  153. pattonbb says:

“They told me they fixed it!!”

  154. Brandie says:

“This deal is getting worse all the time!”

  155. JohninOshkosh says:

    There goes the perfect game.

  156. Walk starts it off with the first hit. Come on Cutch.

  157. Brandie says:

    As Happy As Clambo, Plan.

  158. cmat0829 says:

oh, they changed to lambo? what happened? anyway, can i pls change to UNDER or just cancel ?

  159. theplanisworking says:

    CUTCH !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  160. JohninOshkosh says:

  161. Cutch going oppo, baby!!!! 2-0 Buccos!

  162. Brandie says:

    Cutch, that’s who!

  163. JohninOshkosh says:

Martin with the dugout F-bomb !

  164. I heard that too. Nice and loud!

  165. Arriba Wilver says:

Nah, I think he was just suggesting a nickname for Lambo.

  166. Eric Bowser says:

Come on Morton… 2-0 lead and you walk the leadoff hitter.

  167. Eric Bowser says:

talk about luck… Beltran drilled that ball right to Walker to turn DP

  168. Eric Bowser says:

not exactly comforting to see Morton walk Carpenter and then two hard hit balls from Beltran and Holliday.

  169. pattonbb says:

  170. Way to clean up Charlie’s leadoff walk by Walker doubling off Carpenter at first.

  171. theplanisworking says:

In Honor of Lambos first MLB at-bat………

Now the Lambo Lies Down on Broadway. :)

  172. JohninOshkosh says:

Here comes The Answer with his first major league at bat…

  173. Brandie says:

    Nice to know you!

  174. pattonbb says:

    …..send him down.

  175. Arriba Wilver says:

    He stinks.

  176. pattonbb says:

  177. theplanisworking says:

    MERCER PA. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  178. theplanisworking says:

    MERCER PA. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  179. JohninOshkosh says:

Jordy!!!!!! Must be the thin air in Missouri !

  180. Brandie says:

    What was the question?

  181. theplanisworking says:

    Rios would have homered. ;)

  182. That looked like a tribute to Tabata in that it just squibbed down the line. And Jordy answers himself with a tater to Left for a 3-0 lead!

  183. theplanisworking says:

I will take Saviors for 100, Brandie.

  184. JohninOshkosh says:

    Wainwright’s a bum !

  185. pattonbb says:

    Bats are waking up……

  186. Charlie joining in on the hit parade!!

  187. Now that the family big screen is available, I’m off to watch the Pirates broadcast on MLB Network. Have a good one everyone, and Go Bucs!!!!

  188. JohninOshkosh says:

    You too.

  189. theplanisworking says:

    APB for our Nun.

  190. Brandie says:

    Dang! Jordy LaForge!

  191. Jandy says:

On my cell.i hate this lol. Hubby has the puter tonight. Lambo has Cutch and Jordy show him how it’s done! I’ll pop in again. Here’s some popcorn Hipposter :)

  192. Jandy says:

    Not much! ;)

  193. Jandy says:

Gotta love Eric….he knows his stuff!

  194. JohninOshkosh says:

    Good one, lupe.

  195. Jandy says:

Deffo unimpressive. Hope the next at bat is better

  196. theplanisworking says:

    And, on cue, our Nun.

  197. Arriba Wilver says:

Adam Dunn would have made that play that Jones flubbed.

  198. cmat0829 says:

how good does Cutch look when he goes the other way?? WHen he does that, MVP…when he tries to pull everything, he is just merely a good player. If only he can remember what he does when he is going well and never stop doing it.

  199. theplanisworking says:

And at-bat #2 for the side of Lambo………………

  200. theplanisworking says:

And just missed by thiiiiiiiiissssssssssss much.
    Better luck next time.

  201. 21sthebest says:

I think he has been going oppo pretty well since right before the break.

  202. Milo Hamilton says:

Jerry Layne’s strike zone is anybody’s guess. Both ways.

  203. Steelag70 says:

Adam Dunn would have homered too.

  204. Jandy says:

:* last check in tonite. Hate doing this on my cell lol. I’m willing these guys to a W. Keep our bats hot, boys. Catch you all in the morning. Go Bucs!

  205. Steelag70 says:

    C’mon Charlie…

  206. Patrick(ri) says:

One of the fastest men on the planet on 3rd with less than 2 outs, and the heart of our order can never get him home. Really pitiful baseball, no matter how many games they win.

  207. Patrick(ri) says:

Not to mention on 2nd, with no outs!

  208. florida steeler says:

Pedro needs a few days off. He and Jones are killing this team offensively, especially this month.

  209. Jandy says:

I can’t stand Layne. Is he on steroids??? Suspend him now!

  210. Milo Hamilton says:

  211. florida steeler says:

Charley is pitching well–hope he keeps it up. Of course, Bob Walk could tell him how to throw a three seamer. Walk is babbling more than Steve Blass.

  212. Patrick(ri) says:

Anybody know whether Cutch is below average this year with RISP? Sure seems weak lately.

  213. Milo Hamilton says:

    Cutch is.292 with RISP.

  214. Thundercrack says:

    3 seamer. That’s funny.

But don’t give Charlie any ideas.

  215. theplanisworking says:

Lambo on the rod up for his third chance.

  216. florida steeler says:

    ha-ha–good one.

  217. Milo Hamilton says:

    The Silence of the Lambo.

  218. theplanisworking says:

Well, I hope some people dont go looking for their pitchforks and torches just yet.

  219. theplanisworking says:

    + many.

He just needs to cut his Lambo chops.

  220. Patrick(ri) says:

Numbers reveal weakness of perception — I would have thought it much lower. Now for a stat challenge: what is the average for 3rd place in batting order?

  221. florida steeler says:

True, but people are expecting too much from the kid. If he was that good, he would have been called up before Presley some time ago. He is not a savior for this offensively weak right field situation.

  222. florida steeler says:

5 inning Charley at it again. Hope Hurdle learned from the Burnett experiment the other day???

  223. War Horse says:

Yo. In his first three at bats in the bigs, after six years in the minors, the right fielder so many of you on this site have been campaigning to be brought up, has looked like a lamb being led to the slaughter.
I say, give him a chance. If he can’t come through with hits when they’re needed, they can do with him what they’ve been doing with Presley and Tabata. Call it the Pirates’ yo-yo.

  224. Thundercrack says:

  225. Patrick(ri) says:

Milo (re above), I see Craig is awesome with .481 average batting in third spot with RISP. That must raise the average. Above Cutch?

  226. Milo Hamilton says:

    Must be Teke.

  227. J Walter Weatherman says:

Morton falls apart in the 6th inning every start. How his coach can’t figure this out and leaves him hanging out to dry is bewildering. Much less let him pitch to a lefty with a man on 3rd base and 1st base open. I’m dumbfounded.

Cutch failing to get Marte in a couple innings back is looking pretty big right now.

  228. J Walter Weatherman says:

    Lambo, First Dud

  229. florida steeler says:

Hurdle was busy chewing his Double Bubble!!!!!

  230. Steelag70 says:

    Let’s give Lambo a chance…geez…

  231. Milo Hamilton says:

With all those pitches he threw early, it’s borderline criminal they let Wainwright hang around this long. If they blow this one it will be really tough to shake.

  232. J Walter Weatherman says:

Take it easy – I was kidding – too good to pass up

  233. Thundercrack says:

Cole is the only one who didn’t get a hug from Charlie.
Obviously there is a feud there.

  234. twentytwo22 says:

2 innings they got the leadoff man on base and then hit into a GDP. Marte was stranded at third with 1 out. 3 innings down the drain.

  235. twentytwo22 says:

    6 outs to Melancon.

  236. JohninOshkosh says:

  237. War Horse says:

If you’ve been watching Cole’s behavior and body language since he came up, expecially the looks on his face, he appears to be a cold fish. No wonder his teamates give him a wide berth.

  238. Milo Hamilton says:

Hate to be negative, but don’t you get the feeling it doesn’t get that far ?

  239. War Horse says:

This may be the youngest team by average the Bucs have put on the field this season. I haven’t checked, but it looks like Martin, at 30, is the eldest. Two rookies and one second year man (Marte).

  240. Thundercrack says:

    Extinguish your hair.

  241. florida steeler says:

But look out–we have the G boys in the game. Gaby and Garrett–their offensive prowess will solve all problems.

  242. Milo Hamilton says:

    Sorry. :(

  243. pattonbb says:

Get a couple runs here and everyone relaxes.

  244. Milo Hamilton says:

Am I allowed to say I don’t want Bryan Morris anywhere near the middle of their order ? I’ll stop now.

  245. Patrick(ri) says:

    Ugly, again.

  246. Thundercrack says:

  247. Patrick(ri) says:

And again. Not to over-rate hitting in the clutch, but at least get the bat on the ball.

  248. Steelag70 says:

  249. pattonbb says:

    Well…..that kinda sucked.

  250. theplanisworking says:

Leadoff runner on second, then 3 K’s

  251. Patrick(ri) says:

    Whiff, whiff and whiff.

  252. florida steeler says:

How do you continue to bat Pedro fourth???He does not have what it takes. What is he batting this month??

  253. twentytwo22 says:

    This offense sure isn’t helping.

  254. Steelag70 says:

This is unbelievable with this team…

  255. War Horse says:

And now we will see if our bullpen against their fab hitters is up to this task. i say, “Yes!”

  256. Milo Hamilton says:

  257. Milo Hamilton says:

    That’s not counting tonight.

  258. florida steeler says:

    Thanks, better than I thought.

  259. Patrick(ri) says:

Hope so, as the offense has closed up shop.

  260. Milo Hamilton says:

  261. Patrick(ri) says:

    Nice pitch.

  262. twentytwo22 says:

He’s not the same hitter at cleanup. 5th or 6th he is better. I don’t think it is a coincidence.

  263. florida steeler says:

1 home run??? Yep, that sounds like a cleanup hitter to me.

  264. Steelag70 says:

It is still hard to believe that NH thinks this offense is sufficient…

  265. Bob Hasis says:

Was playing toooooo close to the line – needlessly.

Stop the double yes; stop the single also. Bad field positioning.

  266. JohninOshkosh says:

Big scary out. Thank goodness for outfield positioning.

  267. Bob Hasis says:

Who said he’s a better fielder than Garret?

  268. theplanisworking says:

    Oh, come on.
    Cut Saint neal a break.

  269. Patrick(ri) says:

We havn’t had a hitter since Freddy who has been willing to do what Holiday and the Cards do to us routinely — slice one into right field.

  270. pattonbb says:

Bryan Morris is worse for my blood pressure than that chili-cheeseburger, fries and beer I had for dinner.

  271. Milo Hamilton says:

Watson must be tired from the off day.

  272. florida steeler says:

I cannot believe Hurdle put Morris in the game.

  273. JohninOshkosh says:

    Rightie leftie match up

  274. Bob Hasis says:

You don’t need range at first base – you need reflexes

  275. Patrick(ri) says:

Odds it will be 5-3 in a moment?

  276. pattonbb says:

I agree Bob. No need for Gaby to be that far in and over.

  277. pattonbb says:

  278. J Walter Weatherman says:

    Holy shift!

  279. Milo Hamilton says:

Have I mentioned lately that I love the shift ?

  280. theplanisworking says:

    WOW !!!!

Walker saved Morris’s and Hurdle’s ass there!!!!!

    Nice play!!!!

  281. theplanisworking says:

    WOW !!!!

Walker saved Morris’s and Hurdle’s ass there!!!!!

    Nice play!!!!

  282. pattonbb says:

  283. Patrick(ri) says:

  284. florida steeler says:

    Luck beats good every time!!!

  285. JohninOshkosh says:

Ha Ha They moved Walker to a perfect position. Got out of the inning with perfect fielder positioning with Jones and Walker. Way to read those charts, Clint !

  286. Bob Hasis says:

    Now that IS POSITIONING.

Hats off to my main man CH!!!!

  287. Patrick(ri) says:

    Shift happens.

  288. JohninOshkosh says:

  289. Steelag70 says:

  290. War Horse says:

Walker’s catch just now, maybe the most important of the season so far, shows why the Pirates have the best fielding average in the majors.

  291. twentytwo22 says:

    Scoreless inning in the boxscore.

  292. JohninOshkosh says:

Time for some Farmers Insurance insurance runs !

  293. Steelag70 says:

A big ole pile of shiiiiiffffffftttttt work!!!

  294. Steve Tushek says:

Never thought I’d day this…hurdle is a genius

  295. JohninOshkosh says:

I’m going to sleep at 10:30 no matter what. No extra innings !!!

  296. Milo Hamilton says:

    Leyva positions the infielders. (Ducks)

  297. Milo Hamilton says:

I got a look at the PG rankings & TJ is pre-season #1 in AAA.

  298. Karen22 says:

    I am SO not a Morris fan…always in trouble…ALWAYS!

  299. JohninOshkosh says:

Ours starts one week from Friday. Same with Western PA ?

  300. Jason81 says:

    Dare I say the Cardinals got #HURDLED ??? :D

  301. theplanisworking says:

Milo, I just went there, and didnt see anything?

  302. JohninOshkosh says:

  303. theplanisworking says:

    WHAT WAS THAT ?!?!?!

  304. Milo Hamilton says:

Matty Alou, can of corn. Ugh.

  305. pattonbb says:

not believing what I just saw.

  306. J Walter Weatherman says:

I didn’t know we traded for Soriano

  307. Bob Hasis says:

I didn’t see that. Is that for tomorrow’s publication?

    Thanks for the heads up

  308. Milo Hamilton says:

Mike White has it on his Varsity Blog.

  309. J Walter Weatherman says:

7 errors for a LF is not good

  310. Steelag70 says:

Can we ever have an easy game???

  311. theplanisworking says:

  312. CoolRudy says:

Well that makes up for the gift the Pirates got from the Astros

  313. JohninOshkosh says:

    Game of inches…foul ball.

  314. JohninOshkosh says:

Beltran has a history of striking out with two outs in the bottom of the ninth.

  315. pattonbb says:

    the unintentional intentional walk?

  316. Milo Hamilton says:

He’d rather pitch to Mr. RISP.

  317. Bob Hasis says:

Mike White loathes TJ and Cherpak.

Surprising he would give TJ any kind of favorable pub

  318. Steelag70 says:

  319. Patrick(ri) says:

    Old .481 himself.

  320. theplanisworking says:

    Just unreal.

  321. theplanisworking says:

    Just unreal.

  322. JohninOshkosh says:

Thank goodness for the cut off but oh my….

  323. lupesanchez says:

  324. Patrick(ri) says:

Amazing things happen when you don’t overswing and you put the bat on the ball. This game shoul be over, even with this run.

  325. Karen22 says:

    I am sick.

  326. J Walter Weatherman says:

This is why the Pirates are the Pirates and the Cards are the Cards.

  327. florida steeler says:

Lollipop effort by Marte with his cute one hand catch. He and Tabata have some similarities.

  328. Thundercrack says:

    Brandt Brown.

  329. Steelag70 says:

Can MARTE be charged with a BS??? What a mess…

  330. Thundercrack says:

    Marte made an error

  331. JohninOshkosh says:

Cubs still won the Wild Card a few weeks after that play. So there’s that. :)

  332. pattonbb says:

The only thing worse than a bunt is a successful bunt.

  333. Milo Hamilton says:

Yeah, him too. I had Matty Alou at Wrigley in 1970.

  334. theplanisworking says:

Uh-oh, Milo, Mazzarro is warming up.

  335. Milo Hamilton says:

Pirates still won the division after Matty Alou also.

  336. JohninOshkosh says:

  337. War Horse says:

Back in the day, unless you were Willie Mays, outfielders caught the ball with TWO hands and that was what the rest of us were taught to do. Seeing Cutch and Marte and most of the other fielders on TV make such one-handed catches has worried me since it started.
I blame Marte’s mistake on his stupid desire to look OH SO CASUAL in trying to make that catch just now. Idiot!

  338. Milo Hamilton says:

They’re stupid if they don’t walk McCutchen.

  339. J Walter Weatherman says:

I wonder if Cutch will drive him in? That would be his first clutch hit of the year.

  340. Patrick(ri) says:

  341. pattonbb says:

This is when you go the other way with a little slap single Cutch!!

  342. DJ says:

In case anyone didn’t notice, that looked like Marte’s poor attempt to mimic McCutchen’s stiff-wrist, side-saddle catches in center on routine flies.

He needs to just catch the ball and not worry about styling.

  343. Milo Hamilton says:

    Maybe not.

  344. JohninOshkosh says:

Could have had a soul crushing injury there. Whew!

  345. florida steeler says:

This offense is a damn joke.

  346. J Walter Weatherman says:

Wow, he even makes exciting outs. An MVP requires getting at least one clutch hit during the season. Or driving in a runner on 3rd base with less than 2 outs (instead of watching a called 3rd strike).

  347. J Walter Weatherman says:

Not stupid. Cutch is anti-clutch. Hurdle having Morton pitch to Jay with a man on 3rd base in the 6th was stupid.

  348. Milo Hamilton says:

Yeah, all those decisions aren’t all wins.

  349. Patrick(ri) says:

This is more painful than Colorado. At least it is an hour earlier.

  350. JohninOshkosh says:

Bad things usually happen with lead off walks. Very. Bad. Things.

  351. J Walter Weatherman says:

When the Pirates lose, fans better start getting a grasp of reality. This team will not win the division. You’re better off watching Arizona and hoping the implosion won’t be bad enough this year to fade out of the playoff picture. I still think they get the last playoff spot.

  352. Steelag70 says:

Damn Mazzarro…how about finding the strike zone, huh??

  353. Thundercrack says:

Is that how this is going to end?!

    Hello….call “spoiler alert”

  354. JohninOshkosh says:

Don’t deserve to win this one. Night, fellas.

  355. florida steeler says:

And, Gaby is in for defense?? The damn guy stinks!!

  356. Steelag70 says:

Wow….playing the same way as in Colorado….sloppy, sloppy, sloppy…

  357. J Walter Weatherman says:

My bad. At least the sting will be lessened knowing what the outcome will be.

  358. Patrick(ri) says:

The old quarterback is the only Pirate keepng his cool.

  359. Steelag70 says:

I do believe the pressure is beginning to get to this team…

  360. pattonbb says:

    Good night.

  361. lupesanchez says:

If they lose, how this team responds over the next week or so will show what they are made of.

  362. Steelag70 says:

Have to give Vin credit there….

  363. Bob Hasis says:

    To whom do you refer?

  364. Patrick(ri) says:

    But not the bull pen.

  365. Steelag70 says:

Reds just went up 6-4 in the 11th….have to win this game….

  366. Milo Hamilton says:

Remember 3 hours ago, when we scored ?

  367. lupesanchez says:

    it’s funny because it’s true.

  368. Bob Hasis says:

We cannot have a .234 hitter batting clean-up, especially one who K’s so much. He can still hit his HR’s batting sixth you know

  369. Steelag70 says:

    Seems like a month….

  370. Steelag70 says:

    Whoooppeee….Barmes off the bench….

  371. Steelag70 says:

  372. Steelag70 says:

  373. twentytwo22 says:

Mercer struckout against a groundball specialist. The pitch was up and out over the plate. Go the other way with a controlled swing? Nah.

  374. Steelag70 says:

Time to load up the bases….

  375. Patrick(ri) says:

    Walk this guy!

  376. Steelag70 says:

    Yes!! Nice Jeanmar….

  377. Patrick(ri) says:

Jay Hay doubters should be ashamed by now.

  378. Thundercrack says:

    Way to go Pedro!

  379. Steelag70 says:

    Bout time!

  380. Steelag70 says:

    Clutch Martin at the plate…

  381. Thundercrack says:

    Fear the Barmes

  382. Steelag70 says:

  383. lupesanchez says:

  384. Steelag70 says:

I swear Leyva does not take enough chances…

  385. Patrick(ri) says:

Somebody finally gets the bat on the ball . . . I guess Cutch was so shocked by it, he coulnt move?

  386. twentytwo22 says:

McCutchen came up small for the third time.

  387. Steelag70 says:

  388. Steelag70 says:

    This is UNBELIEVEABLE…..

  389. cmat0829 says:

Wow, whichever team loses this will be bummed (Cardinals, I hope!). Marte’s inexplicable error was the big gaffe for the Bucs… Cards have made some strange decisions, biggest one being letting the pitcher hit into the double play….

No surprise, the Bucs bullpen has been great… but the Cards have shut the Bucs down after the 2nd inning…

  390. J Walter Weatherman says:

I want to be Cutch’s biggest fan, but he continually does things that make me believe he’s overrated. He does not deserve to be in the MVP discussion.

  391. DJ says:

You have to go on a ball to the right of the SS. He’s not going to throw McCutchen out at home from his knees.

  392. Parrothead01 says:

What’s the point of being fast if you freeze up and don’t use your speed.

  394. lupesanchez says:

Between pitching around Beltran in the 9th (if that indeed what that was) with your Closer, and that baserunning brain fart, the Pirates are playing mentally scared.

I’m willing to chalk up Marte’s error as just that, need to get over it, but since then we’re playing the baseball equivalent of the prevent defense.

  395. Chico says:

Leyva is terrible. Always makes the wrong calls.

  396. J Walter Weatherman says:

The Cutch is not clutch discussion is too big to overlook. He doesn’t have “it”.

  397. J Walter Weatherman says:

Wasn’t Leyva’s call. That was 100% on Cutch.

  398. Patrick(ri) says:

There is a lot to like about the Pirates, but sharp, smart baseball is not an attribute. I reluctantly conclude that the Reds will pass both of these teams and win the division.

  399. Steelag70 says:

Visiting team has to be agressive….

  400. Steelag70 says:

So we give a pass to Beltran so that we can pitch to Craig???? Shaking my head…

  401. J Walter Weatherman says:

The way this game has gone, I’m surprised Hurdle didn’t pitch to Craig. And yet, the pitcher will probably win it here.

  402. Steelag70 says:

Forgot it was the pitcher’s spot…

  403. Steelag70 says:

    Don’t friggin’ walk the pitcher!!

  404. J Walter Weatherman says:

    It’s late. I forget why I’m up.

  405. Thundercrack says:

Silver lining: Nevrett is not calling the game on tv

DK: Golden lining: My sound’s been down the entire time.

  406. Steelag70 says:

At least we have Cole to PH and pitch….

  407. Steelag70 says:

Justin Morneau would sure look good in our lineup…

  408. twentytwo22 says:

The guy who leads the team in BB% this year is 1 for 3 tonight and has seen 4 pitches.

  409. Patrick(ri) says:

Put some pressure on this rookie.

  410. Steelag70 says:

    Geebus Neil…

  411. J Walter Weatherman says:

How many more years will it be before Walker realizes he can’t hit RH?

  412. Steelag70 says:

Think maybe the pressure is getting to these guys just a bit….

  413. Thundercrack says:

Way to have to blow up the bullpen in the first game of this series

Roster move tomorrow & bring up an arm?

  414. Steelag70 says:

    Welker maybe?

  415. Steelag70 says:

  416. J Walter Weatherman says:

    Collapse III

  417. Jay H says:

You knew it was coming when Marte dropped that ball….just a matter of when

  418. WVStarship says:

Worst. Loss. Ever. Much worse than the Meals game because they did it all to themselves.
    Losing season number 21 anyone?
