  1. Playoffs by 2012 says:

Makes my job a helluva lot easier when I don’t have to hunt to find everyone’s “wagers”

Max “wager” is 100 units on any single line.
All “wagers” must be in multiples of 5 units.
Play as few or as many lines as you’d like.
As always, this is for fun and entertainment purposes.

    Line #1
Total INNINGS PITCHED by the Francisco Liriano in tonight’s game
    Line is 7.25

    Line #2
Total HITS + WALKS + HBP by Josh Harrison in tonight’s game
    Line is 1.5

    GOOD LUCK!!!

72 Down, only 10 more to go!!

  18. Bob Hasis says:

    Is Marte benched or hurt?

Heck we won’t have anything to talk about.

  19. cosmo says:

    line 1 – 100 under

    line 2 -100 under

  20. Jason81 says:

100 on the OVER for both lines, please!

  21. Bill Born says:

    100 on both lines PLEASE

    Line 1 Under

    Line 2 under

  22. Drew71 says:

I see Harrisburg is already listed.

    So Dejan. You’re covered.

  23. Drew71 says:

    Let’s talk about Hurdle.

  24. Arriba Wilver says:

Cashner is hardly a pushover, and he’s 6’6″ with a downward plane.

  25. Arriba Wilver says:

    Line 1—50 on the OVER

    Line 2—50 on the UNDER

  26. TJ says:

Pirates must be counting on a shut out by Liriano with that lineup. Harrison, Tabata, and Sanchez. YIKES

  27. Thundercrack says:

  28. TJ says:

At this point Matt Morris wouldn’t be a pushover for this lineup.

DK: Yeah, he’s better than Russell Martin after all. Or so the lying Pirates bloggers would have you believe I once wrote.

  29. Lad9 says:

Hey Dandy Brandie. How is life? Have enjoyed your efforts on the blog immensely today. :)

  30. Patrick says:

Guess it is a night off for Marte. But yeah….YIKES with Harrison as a lead off guy for us. Already feeling bad about this one.

  31. bman says:

Line 1: 75 on the UNDER
Line 2: 25 on the OVER

  32. Lad9 says:

I thought the same. My guess is Marte is banged up a little bit.

  33. theplanisworking says:

    Line 1 — 50 UNDER.
    Line 2 — 50 OVER.

  34. Arriba Wilver says:

Maybe he got hurt trying to steal 3rd. My guess is his 3 bonehead plays in the last 4 games (or something like that) are the reason. But what do I know.

  35. Dadtackular says:

    line 1 100 over
    line 2 100 under

  36. TJ says:

Arms are tired from swinging and missing

  37. TJ says:

    You lost me DK.

I wasn’t commenting about Martin. Was just saying at this point there aren’t many pitchers that wouldn’t give the Pirates fits.

  38. Lad9 says:

Could very well be AW. I thought maybe his hand was acting up. Second guess was the bonehead theory.

  39. JaxBuc says:

Please sir, may I have 50 friars on the UNDER for both lines?

  40. JRay3 says:

    Line 1-50 Over

    Line 2-50 Under

    Thanks and Go Bucs!

  41. TJ says:

So I just go to the ESPN baseball page…. 5 out of 12 articles are Afraud related. Yeah I know its ESPN but man its ridiculous.

  42. TJ says:

His last AB when he tried to leg out the infield single he grabbed at his ankle after hitting the base. Not sure if it was further aggravation from earlier or not

  43. Patrick says:

I don’t mind seeing Sanchez in there tonight. Martin caught a ton of innings yesterday and contributed a lovely golden sombrero on the offensive side…sigh…18 K’s yesterday. That is depressing.

  44. Thundercrack says:

But the story just keeps getting more bizarre and outrageous.

  45. Arriba Wilver says:

Note to self: NEVER mention Matt Morris in ANY context.

  46. TJ says:

I agree Patrick but with an offense already struggling you don’t exactly expect to see Harrison and Sanchez in there but sometimes you have to based on injuries and wear and tear.

  47. Patrick says:

Nice…JMac gets a rehab start with our Gulf Coast League team today. 2/3 of an inning with 2R, 2H and a BB. And this is a league with mainly 17-19 year olds. Yikes!

  48. TJ says:

He should get plunked every at bat.

I want to know if how often he’s getting tested during this appeal.

He should be tested every day.

  49. Playoffs by 2012 says:

How’s the view at PETCO tonight?

  50. TJ says:

Would be great if he could do that at the plate

  51. theplanisworking says:

    Matt Morris.
    Matt Morris stinks.
    Matt Morris is flummoxed.

I could come up with more, but I would have to invoke Littlefields name. No thanks. ;)

  52. TJ says:

Thanks Arriba. Really was an innocent reference. I couldn’t think of anyone off the top of my head. Matt Morris just popped out

  53. Nate83 says:

Reds just beat the diamondbacks and the Cards just went up 4-2 against the Brewers in the 6th.

  54. Playoffs by 2012 says:

  55. Arriba Wilver says:

    EYE know that, TJ. :-)

  56. Bob Hasis says:

I’m the last guy that would want to talk about AFraud, but how in the world is he still playing. I realize his suspension is appealed, but now he is suing the Yankees doctor for malpractice.
Why wouldn’t they simply bench him? The players union not withstanding.
Why not just release him, unless the financial aspect of that would be overbearing?

    Admittedly, I am totally confused.

  57. Nate83 says:

Well he does stink or at least by the time he made it to the Pirates he did so it was a good reference.

  58. JRay3 says:

Well made it to SD and just left Bub’s where I had a cold one with Bryan Morris agent Jim. Got a lot of great stories including when Morris intentionally hit Valdespin earlier this season and response CH and team gave him in dugout, the fact that some in the pen are a little gassed, Wilson has a litle arm fatigue, how the players don’t think at all of last season when looking at this current stretch, how Morris got a 4th option year that they fought for something that happened in Lynchburg when he was suspended. So many interesting stories tough to recap them all.

A lot of fun and insight have to gather my thoughts. Did say Morris says he feels good even with current heavy workload.

After game waiting for Morris and than heading to dinner on Market St. Looking forward to it. Hopefully it will be out celebrating a win!

  59. He’s in Wooshington.

  60. Arriba Wilver says:

Hey, give DK a break. He just went to DC via Harrisburg. ;-)

  61. Jay H says:

ESPN – Every Sport Played in New York

  62. 21sthebest says:

I can’t stand ARod as much as everyone else but Dempster should’ve been tossed, IMO.

  63. TJ says:

    Good stuff JRay. Have fun

  64. Playoffs by 2012 says:

Please ask him his opinion of the Jason Bay trade.

  65. JRay3 says:

Amazing! Weather is great…I am in row 1 right on left field wall so right behind Tabata tonight.

Fingers crossed this is a better trip than last years at this place.

  66. TJ says:

Its the Yankees; they will sell their souls to the devil and then file a grievance saying they didn’t if it would help them win games and make the playoffs. Bottom line is the playoffs for this team. Afraud or not

  67. Nate83 says:

Well their third place play this year makes the pirates right fielders look like migual cabrera. If they did have their doctors attempt malpractice this story will be around for at least a year and if it is true the team should and will be taken away from the Steinbrenners.

  68. Cmat0829 says:

    100 over both

  69. TJ says:

Agreed. Maybe Selig made it open season on Afraud.

  70. Lad9 says:

Good stuff JRay. Not surprised some of the arms are dragging a little. Got to battle through at this time of year.

  71. Thundercrack says:

I’m just talking about the wild claims by ARod, the wilder responses from his legal team, and the great responses by the Yankees.

  72. Thundercrack says:

  73. TJ says:

This suit is nothing more than a smoke screen for the real issue at hand.

  74. Playoffs by 2012 says:

At some point in the game, take a quick trip over to center field and stomp on a few sand castles please.

  75. radio wave says:

Here I am just under the wire again. I will take 100 on the under Florline one. I will take 100 on the over for wine too. I cannot believe this lineup.

  76. JD says:

    100 over on both please.

    Let’s Go Bucs!

  77. TJ says:

I agree Thunder; never seen such a private situation turn so public.

Its like a ugly divorce taking place in public but for some reason the wife keeps coming home every night.

  78. blazer says:

I’ll take the under on 1 for 100 and the over on 2 for 100 please.

  79. Thundercrack says:

    +1 JRay

Ask him if he thinks all this experience the younger guys are getting will help them next year.

And ask him “Alex Rios or Justin Morneau?

  80. Playoffs by 2012 says:

JRAY, how is the Marine Layer holding up tonight?

  81. theplanisworking says:

I was going to do this, but didnt.
Thank you for this public service.

  82. Thundercrack says:

Ask him if the players that went through the Navy Seals training are not as tired as the players who didn’t.

  83. DJ says:

Not surprised at all to hear about Wilson’s fatigue. He’s thrown a couple 93 mph pitches lately where he really looked pained, and he used to sitting 97-98. I could easily see him down soon with some arm issue.

    Only time will tell.

  84. TJ says:

JRay ask him if all the questions Thunder wants you to ask him during one meal makes you a stalker!

  85. JRay3 says:

Too funny…he specifically said when I got invite no star gazer stuff, so the stalker stuff is hysterical.

I will try to squeeze one of Thunders in, but definitely no more.

  86. JRay3 says:

  87. bizrow says:

    Fast ball, Biz didn’t blink

    Whats that all about?

  88. Keith says:

Nothing but strikes so far for Liriano. Man, he’s good.

  89. Thundercrack says:

But I have so many more questions to submit.

    Have fun. :-)

  90. theplanisworking says:

Bert Blyleven sighting in the stands.

  91. DJ says:

Hey, so the bat is not permanently affixed to Tony Sanchez’s shoulder.

  92. Thundercrack says:

Lets compare and contrast Liriano & Matt Morris.

One cost the GM his job and one probably saved his GM’s job.

  93. Milo Hamilton says:

  94. Patrick(ri) says:

Milo, do I have to go to bed when Liriano ties his strikeout record?

  95. Bob Hasis says:

Better start putting on the jammies

  96. Milo Hamilton says:

Only you can make that determination.

  97. Mrevo says:

  98. radio wave says:

Padres radio crew is marveling at how well he is pitching.

  99. theplanisworking says:

    Now THAT was funny!!!

    2-0 good guys.

  100. Thundercrack says:

    We’ll take it

    We need it.

  101. Patrick(ri) says:

Hmmm. Maybe the magic has returned?

  102. JRay3 says:

Don’t see that every night…Alvarez may need to be resucitated after that.

  103. JD says:

    What happened?

  104. DJ says:

He showed he can motor (relatively) when he wants to.

  105. DJ says:

You mean to our fortunes generally, or just the play?

Ground ball gets under RF glove for “inside-the-parker plus error” job.

  106. JD says:

Thanks. Not able to watch tonight.

  107. DJ says:

. . . . and we may need to do something about the snowman DJ meets snowman JD.

  108. DJ says:

. . . how ’bout you grabbing a nun avatar or something funky like that?

  109. JRay3 says:

Huge out by Liriano…needed to put a 0 up there.

  110. Playoffs by 2012 says:

    Hey Biz,

I was looking at your list of honorees and didn’t see George Benson.
I want to officially nominate George ‘Breezin’ Benson to your list of honorees.

  111. Playoffs by 2012 says:

    Hey Biz,

  112. Milo Hamilton says:

    16 – Bob Veale – 1965 vs. Philadelphia.

  113. JRay3 says:

Liriano is just filthy tonight. Bucs stopper and no question guy to take hill if faced with one game playoff.

No help tonight, need this game to hold serve.

  114. There was talk about picking up Denorfia. He helped us there.

  115. theplanisworking says:

    3-0 good guys!

  116. JRay3 says:

Pedro strikes again…HR #31, RBI #82…where is fla steeler now?

  117. Pedro gets hot and we can breathe a little in September.

  118. theplanisworking says:

A Jeff Clement reference by Neverette.

  119. Playoffs by 2012 says:

    Don’t feed the trolls!

  120. DJ says:

Agreed. I think that’s been clear for the last month, excepting one brief interlude in Colorado. Let’s hope we take division though.

  121. JRay3 says:

Ya i know just couldn’t resist…glad our All-Star is carrying team offensively tonight. I’m done.

  122. Playoffs by 2012 says:

    It’s all good boss.
Just remember, feeding trolls will only angry up the blood.

  123. theplanisworking says:

    Please resist in the future.
I dont want to see him or some others in here ever again.
    Quieter that way…………………..

  124. Playoffs by 2012 says:

Kinda why I dig on the West Coast games.
Later hours scare off some of the rabble.

  125. DJ says:

Oh, he’ll be back. Pens season not far around the corner.

  126. theplanisworking says:

    Good point.
I wasnt chastising JRay, I just want a more peaceful atmosphere.

  127. theplanisworking says:

    Oh, dont remind me.
But, Jandy will smack him down, like last spring.

  128. Playoffs by 2012 says:

As we all do my hippo brother.

  129. Playoffs by 2012 says:

When you meet up with Mr. Morris later, quote Mark 9:23 for me, he’ll get it.

  130. Karen22 says:

    Hi, Kids!

Just got home from a mini-vacation with pals. I see the Pirates missed me (and a lot of balls, too). Peeeuuuwww! But Frankie is doing his thing AGAIN. What are we down to? One pitcher who can hold the fort down with little to no run support? Egad. NEED BATS!

    GO BUCS! Go Francisco!

  131. JRay3 says:

Plan -my bad, I agree. Just happy for El Toro and team.

  132. theplanisworking says:

JRay, sorry if I came across ham-handed.
Agreed, the team will be much, much better with a hot Pedro……..Cutch too.

Nothing to be “badded” about. :)

  133. theplanisworking says:

Hope you had a great mini-vacay.

Need all the good vibes we can get from our regulars here.

  134. Karen22 says:

I KNOW! What happened?? I’m getting nervous. Oh, and Harrison just got picked off. GEEEEEZ!! DUMB!

  135. florida steeler says:

I merely said Pedro cannot hit left handed pitching and that is FACT!!

  136. theplanisworking says:

    Not to be negative here…………….

the Pirates baserunning fundamentals are extremely poor.
Something isnt right when the mishaps happen all the time.
Dont know who is to blame for this, but I think it may be the players and coaches.
It must improve for us to have any chance at winning playoff games.

But, at least it happened when we were ahead, and only at 1st base.

  137. florida steeler says:

Glad you think the pretend nun smacked me down. This cult knows little about sports and realism.

  138. DJ says:

So JHay bunts for a base hit instead of laying a soft one down. And then gets picked off first . . . yet again.

Next step in Pirates development will be the day we can reach down to Indianapolis and bring up solid, major league-ready position players.

  139. theplanisworking says:

Should say “players and coached BOTH”.

Maybe I need to clean the Pond………………………………

  140. florida steeler says:

You do not decide who posts on this blog. Take your immature pond stuff and go to bed.

  141. JRay3 says:

Nice 1-2-3 turned in by Justin Wilson…three outs from great start to west coast swing.

  142. Playoffs by 2012 says:

You woke up the village troll.
    HA :)

  143. florida steeler says:

So, someone that speaks facts is a troll??? Grow up with your immature name calling. Or, read Bob Smizik’s commentary today about Pedro against left handed pitching. But, I guess Smizik is a troll because he doesn’t drink Pirate Kool Aid, all day, every day.

  144. Playoffs by 2012 says:

I don’t have any food for you.

  145. Reading says:

Why did Liriano get taken out again?

  146. JRay3 says:

Behind 7 shutout innings from Liriano and an Alvarez blast the Bucs take the opener at Petco 3-1 and there was nooooooooo doubt about it.

The Bucs improve to 73-51 retain a one game lead in the central and are 8.5 games up for playoff spot. The Bucs are 8-9 in August and 1-0 on this seven game west coast swing. The Pirates will look to take the series tomorrow with AJ Butnett taking the hill.

    Go Bucs!

  147. Patrick(ri) says:

A gem from starter, a lucky break and a Pedro homer = a win. A little tension in the 9th. The rest is background noise. Lunatics can sleep well this morning.

  148. theplanisworking says:

This is what the Pirates need to do…….. beat the bad teams consistently.
If we take care of the bottom feeders, it will do wonders for this team.
Great effort from Frankie again (no, not Coooonelly).

Was peaceful in here tonight until the very end.
Shame some people live to ruin things.
    But, see you loonies tomorrow.

  149. Reading says:

    No more adventure saves.

  150. theplanisworking says:

Coming from you, thats hella funny!
We have no food for you.

  151. theplanisworking says:

I never said I decide whom posts here.
    Learn to read.
And being called immature by you is a compliment.
I do it for comedy…….. which you wouldnt know if it bit you.

We have no food for you.

  152. theplanisworking says:

We need the “good” AJ tomorrow.

  153. War Horse says:

It was great to see Andrew McCutchen smiling that big, toothy, happy grin during the ball game. Haven’t seen it for a while. He and Pedro are a devastating combo when they’re both in form, as they were tonight. The gods of the game were smiling on the Bucs. Liriano’s 13 Ks are what stood out most for me. Time for some sleep. It’s 0600 here now. I am turning into what used to be called “a day-night reversal” case.

  154. florida steeler says:

I hope I never see him on here again–real good comedy-you jerk. Hope the cult finds you amusing

  155. Chuck H says:

Chalk up another win, courtesy of the pitching. We still need to add some hitting, though.
The pitching can’t always do it, aka Saturday & Sunday. Everybody seems to know this but Pirate management. GO, BUCS!!!
