  1. Arriba Wilver says:

    Is Tabby hurt?

  2. Stuart says:

    Gaby against a righthander?

    Lets pull a
    Costanza on the West Coast!

    Stuart

  3. Arriba Wilver says:

That was why I wondered if Tabby was hurt,

  4. Bob Hasis says:

I see no reason why this “loaded” lineup doesn’t score about 8 runs tonight.

  5. Milo Hamilton says:

Rajai Davis is 37 for 40 in the stolen base department this year. Yeah, he still plays.

  6. Playoffs by 2012 says:

    TUESDAY OVER/UNDER!!!

******PLEASE READ WHAT IS WRITTEN BELOW******
PLEASE PLACE YOUR “WAGERS” AS REPLIES IN THIS COMMENT BOX
Makes my job a helluva lot easier when I don’t have to hunt to find everyone’s “wagers”

Max “wager” is 100 units on any single line.
All “wagers” must be in multiples of 5 units.
Play as few or as many lines as you’d like.
As always, this is for fun and entertainment purposes.

NEW PLAYERS ARE ALWAYS WELCOME & ENCOURAGED!!

    Tonight’s Line
Total STRIKEOUTS THROWN by the AJ Burnett in tonight’s game

Marte scratched. Tabata leads off in LF.

  10. Brandie says:

May I have 50 on the over please? Thank you ever so much!

  11. JohninOshkosh says:

Heard an interesting baseball tidbit today.

In the first 51 years of its existence, the New York Mets never played in three different time zones on three consecutive days. They have done that feat twice this year.

Tonight, Atlanta at Citi (ET). Yesterday at Minnesota (CT). Sunday at San Diego (PT).

I feel bad for their beat writers.

  12. John Lease says:

Tabata is rapidly becoming our second hottest hitter, after McCutchen.

I think that says something about everyone else, unfortunately.

  13. Bob Hasis says:

I suspect he has a break or a dislocated knuckle on the right hand.

  14. Jay H says:

Marlins broadcast just did an interview with Mary Robinson, widow of former Pirate Bill Robinson. Classy lady

  15. Brandie says:

    Good evening, Stuart.

    50 on Under, Thanks!

  19. Patrick(ri) says:

I like these Left Coast games. Out to dinner with my wife, no hurry, no checking of line ups required. It is amost like having a real life!

  20. Arriba Wilver says:

    100 on the UNDER, please.

  21. Nate83 says:

    75 on the under

  22. Bill Born says:

    Thank You

  23. Brandie says:

    C’MON DIAMOINDBACKS…BEAT THE REDS!

  24. JaxBuc says:

For those of us who haven’t watched a network TV series since Hill Street Blues, what does “pull a Costanza” mean?

  25. cosmo says:

100 tattoos on the over, thanks Mr. Playoffs

  26. Arriba Wilver says:

I think it means from the Seinfeld episode where George Costanza decided to do the opposite of what he thought was the right decision. And it worked . . . For that episode.

  27. Jandy says:

I was wondering that myself, Jax!

  28. Karen22 says:

    100-UNDER

    Merci beaucoup!

  29. Jandy says:

    Hi Mr. Stuart :)

  30. bizrow says:

    AJ rises to the occasion

    100 on the over

That being said, I’m not feeding with the whale crap for no reason.

Folks we’re going to win this dam thing

  31. Jandy says:

    :cue sad opera music:

  32. bizrow says:

Don’t like a lineup without Marte in it

  33. blazer says:

    100 on the under please.

  34. Bob Hasis says:

First lady I’m aware of, who had trouble with a DIAMOND.

  35. Jandy says:

    he** to the yeah!!!!

  36. Arriba Wilver says:

Or at least the opposite of what he normally would do, like approach a woman who he didn’t think he had a chance with.

  37. Jandy says:

    I feel your pain, Biz

  38. Jandy says:

Ha! Good one, Mr. Hasis :)

  39. Arriba Wilver says:

    Do it AJ!

  41. bizrow says:

    So was Bill.

I think he was on first when Willie hit the 7th game winning homer

    Part of the Family

  42. Rick in idaho says:

It’s very nice in the west mat of the season games start at 4 and are over by 7

  43. bizrow says:

My understanding is Marte was listed in the starting lineup

    My guess, DTD

    Buts that me hoping

  44. bizrow says:

Check your email, AW, we gotta make a decision

Jandy, its a chance for Tabby

    I hope

  45. BDHumbert says:

AJ has not been good – or good to me lately – but I will hope for the best – 100 on the over with fingers [and toes] crossed…

  46. BDHumbert says:

BR was often overlooked and under appreciated – think you had to be a really true Pirate fan to appreciate him and his contributions.

  47. Jandy says:

I hope he takes it and runs with it, Biz!

  48. kr70 says:

100 on the under and I hope I’m wrong and Thanks

  49. Jandy says:

Just don’t cross your eyes, you won’t be able to see straight ;)

  50. Bob Hasis says:

It was a psychological ploy. What is DTD?

  51. bizrow says:

We need folks to step up

    Jandy, its gonna happen.

    Moments can find people.

Hello after 20 years, hidden vigorish will happen ;-)

  52. Arriba Wilver says:

    Responded, Biz.

  53. Milo Hamilton says:

    He was Mr. Fireworks Night.

  54. Lad9 says:

I loved him. He was a huge part of those late 70′s teams and a McKeesport native.

  55. Arriba Wilver says:

Nah, just had to have your eyes open. ;-)

  56. Lad9 says:

Going with the under for 100. Thank you to Da Window. Go Buccos!

  57. Jandy says:

    +++++ many

  58. Jandy says:

    Rad Lad!!!!!

  59. Lad9 says:

  60. Lad9 says:

  66. JD says:

    You guys are old.

  67. Brandie says:

    Preach on, Simply Bizrow!

  68. Milo Hamilton says:

    Yinz guys are mean.

  69. Jandy says:

Brandanimal my sistah, how are you?

  70. JD says:

Three cheers for loaded. Hip! Hip! Hooray!

  71. Brandie says:

Trolls are for high school, like people who start drama on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.

  72. Jandy says:

sometimes ya gotta be cruel to be kind :)

  73. Brandie says:

Smooth, like the finest silk. How goes it, Fun on a Nun?

  74. Jandy says:

  75. Milo Hamilton says:

I don’t have any of those.

  76. Jandy says:

Peachy! Warm and fuzzy all over, and sweet juicy inside ;)

  79. Bob Hasis says:

  82. Bob Hasis says:

Is that with a smile on your face – or a sneer?

  83. twentytwo22 says:

    Goldschmidt grand slam. 5-0.

  84. Brandie says:

    A Smirk! A Devilish Smirk!

  85. War Horse says:

Goldschmidt just hit a grand slam for the Diamondbacks in the 8th to put them up 5-0 against Cincy.

  86. Milo Hamilton says:

I’m a twitter lurker for sports info & to spy on the kids.

  87. Playoffs by 2012 says:

    Amen!
    Don’t feed the trolls!

  88. Arriba Wilver says:

    Not me, JD. ;-)

  89. Bob Hasis says:

I made a reference the other day to Marte as a “wild stallion”. The more I think about that I realize that he throws wildly, runs the bases with abandon, and swings carelessly, yet he is a phenomenal player – and I’m glad we have him.

  90. Jandy says:

hey hey, there’s the Window, Himself :)

  91. JRay3 says:

Good evening from 68 degree picture perfect San Diego. Great night for AJ to right the ship and make it two straight out west.

    75 on the UNDER

    Thanks and Go Bucs!

  92. Lad9 says:

I have Twitter and follow one person – Dejan. I proudly have never tweeted.

  93. Playoffs by 2012 says:

    It goes to ELEVEN!

  94. Jason81 says:

    100 on the UNDER, please!

  95. Jandy says:

    I’m not a Twit, and i don’t tweet lol

  96. War Horse says:

How about working in three different time zones in ONE DAY? Breakfast in Iowa, lunch in New Orleans, drinks in Denver, to bed in New Hampshire. (Ronald Reagan presidential campaign, 1980.) After a while, you don’t know if you are coming or going.

  97. JohninOshkosh says:

I have never been on facebook in my life.

To paraphrase Jimmy Fallon, “What do I care what the kid I sat next to in high school biology had for lunch today.”

    I. too, clandestinely follow my kid relatives on twitter. Followed my nephew throughout his senior year in high school. Let’s just say some things never change.

  98. Patrick says:

Yayy to the Reds and Snakes beating up on each other – though a Reds comeback to tie then going 18 or so inning in extras would be nice.

  99. War Horse says:

    100 on the UNDER, please.

  100. Jandy says:

    wow!

  101. bizrow says:

Thanks AW, put the request in

  102. JD says:

    Stay gold, Ponyboy. Stay gold.

  103. bizrow says:

Bob, just wait till he learns the game ;-)

  104. JaxBuc says:

Please sir, may I have 50 Friars on the UNDER?

  105. JD says:

    Nice one Playoffs.

I’m laughing my butt off watching this. Haven’t seen it in years. It’s on a channel I didn’t even know I had, BBC America.

  106. What does he have 8 HR’s? Three less than Jones.

  107. bizrow says:

I follow Dejan, never twitted in my life

  108. bman says:

    @playoffs

    100 on the UNDER please

  109. Bob Hasis says:

Patience is my strongest virtue – well one of a dozen or so!

  110. Is that like Kublai Khan-type Planadu?

    ;)

  111. JohninOshkosh says:

“Certainly, in the topsy-turvy world of heavy rock, having a good solid piece of wood in your hand is often useful.”

  112. Jandy says:

    well said, Mr. Hasis :)

  113. JaxBuc says:

    Glad to help out, Jandylicious.

Bet your pachyderm friend hasn’t seen that nickname for you since he first ventured out of his pond.

  114. Bob Hasis says:

Thank you. Glad you saw the humor and the wisdom in that.

  115. JD says:

    +80 & 84 to the Gipper!

  116. theplanisworking says:

    Mr. Playoffs…………

Thank You, and please hide your food ! ;)

  117. Jandy says:

I sure hope so…alas, I am off….gotta put some things away, then it’s off to la la land for me! C atch you Loonies tomorrow…Go Bucs! Go AJ!

  118. JaxBuc says:

Announcers on MLB.TV commented about Goldschmidt’s future. Is he a free-agent-to-be, by chance? There’s a guy who would look good at 1B every day in black and gold for the PBC.

  119. Jandy says:

    YOur wisdom is catching :)

  120. 4 AM comes quickly, right?

    P)

  121. theplanisworking says:

Ask for a bit, get a Hippo. !!!

    HONEY, I’M HOOOOOOOOMMMMEE !!!!

  122. Thundercrack says:

I just signed up for twitter about a week ago.
Mainly did it to feed my addiction to baseball.
    So far I like it

  123. Milo Hamilton says:

    Final-

    Arizona 5
    Reds 2

  124. Bob Hasis says:

So you weren’t sure then – kind of half and half

  125. Milo Hamilton says:

The Mighy Goldschmidt is signed through 2018.

  126. Thundercrack says:

I think he just signed a new contract….around the time of spring training

  127. theplanisworking says:

    I’m not chainin my fridge!!!!!!!

I will just break out the shotgun!
    And bear traps,
    And pirhanas,

    you get the picture.

  128. Patrick says:

No such luck – Snakes have him locked down thru 2018. Would take a boatload of grade A prospects and then some to get him in a trade.

  129. JD says:

Alright OshKosh! I knew you’d chime in.

  130. theplanisworking says:

    YAY!!!!

    Drinks on Milo! ;)

  131. Bob Hasis says:

Well, now I can feel those complimentary words.

  132. Patrick says:

I still hate the Brewers – but yayyy to them tonight – now up 6-3 on Redbirds. Keep piling it on Crew.

  133. Lad9 says:

The Window stood nearly alone last night in Trollsville and had to slam shut on some fingers and did a fine job!

  134. Bob Hasis says:

Are you faster with news than the four-letter station?

  135. theplanisworking says:

    Excuse me, I was a warrior too…………

    Damn Lads………..

  136. theplanisworking says:

The 4 letter station is fast as a turtle.

  137. Playoffs by 2012 says:

Will you be in attendance for tomorrow’s afternoon game or taking the tram out to Tijuana?

  138. Brandie says:

    Good night, Nun! Hello Hippo!

  139. Playoffs by 2012 says:

    Food is on lockdown.

  140. Bob Hasis says:

    Yes you are

  141. Lad9 says:

A layered defense! And with a shotgun wielding hippo in the last foxhole. Will be a lot of hungry trolls out there.

  142. JD says:

You are so right. Twitter is great for following the teams. I follow all the Trib & PG sports writers. Plus I try and make sense of whatever the hell it is that my teenage kids are saying.

  143. theplanisworking says:

A Nun leaves, a Hippo enters.
    Figures.

  144. Eric Bowser says:

Garrett Jones and Gaby Sanchez in the same lineup… this should be offensive!

  145. Playoffs by 2012 says:

    It’s real simple.
Every reply is “I don’t have any food for you. Sorry”

    The Broken Record Technique.
Just one the many things MacGruff the Crime Dog & Nancy Reagan taught me through VHS technology in the mid 1980′s.

  146. JohninOshkosh says:

Harry Doyle: “Heywood leads the league in most offensive categories, including nose hair. When this guy sneezes, he looks like a party favor.”

  147. theplanisworking says:

If the “no food” reply doesnt work,
    shoot it. ;)

  148. Playoffs by 2012 says:

I believe one of their albums was called Shark Sandwich.

  149. theplanisworking says:

    Yep.

There isnt much in my fridge, but you get the picture.

Here is to a good night, and a Buc victory.

  150. JRay3 says:

Ha…didn’t bring the passport in case I was tempted. Will be out here tomorrow afternoon than in the car for the 5 1/2 hour drive back.

  152. Playoffs by 2012 says:

    One hit?!?
That’s all we got tonite was ONE god#@mned hit?!!?

  153. JohninOshkosh says:

Any time I see a reference to McGruff…well that just makes my day!

  154. Thundercrack says:

Tonight the beat writer for the Orioles was ‘complaining’ about the attendance in Baltimoe.

-he said the O’s have the same number of wins as this pojnt last year
    - he doesn’t want to hear about ‘kids & school’
    - they’re playing the Rays and the Phillies had a larger crowd for their game against the Rockies

  155. Eric Bowser says:

For years, this one was the Pirates…

” That reminds me, I was going to ask you. What exactly IS our team concept?”

  156. Eric Bowser says:

You can’t say goddamn on the air.

  157. theplanisworking says:

    +

  158. Lad9 says:

You are correct. You fought the good fight also. Of course, you did wake the troll. Regardless, my humble apologies and I owe you a pond cleaning. :)

  159. Arriba Wilver says:

I think you should cancel your Twitter account, TC.

  160. JD says:

Yep. The one in the tour was “Smell the Glove”

  161. Milo Hamilton says:

Mariano Rivera just won his 80th career game to go along with 644 saves. Safe to say he’s had a hand in more wins than any other pitcher in bug league history ?

  162. theplanisworking says:

    No, JRay3 woke the troll.
    Lad, time to quit drinking!!!!

    ;)

And, you really dont want to clean my Pond……………………

  163. Lad9 says:

Berman’s best nickname along with Bill “Toasted” Almon

  164. Lad9 says:

    Same my friend.

  165. theplanisworking says:

    “Embrace The Suck”.

Sorry Eric, I just couldnt help it.

  166. Milo Hamilton says:

Or even big league history, for that matter. Too many flies in the bug league.

  167. Patrick says:

Haha – it is every ball player’s dream to play in the “bug league’! You get to strike out hornets and fire ants.

  168. DJ says:

On Goldschmidt, he’s a beast. The type of player where, after watching a few games and numerous at bats, you are looking for a hole in his swing or a small area of the plate he does not cover or cover well — and you don’t really find anything.

He’s the West’s version of Joey Votto.

  169. Eric Bowser says:

    wow… Walker HR to CF…

  170. theplanisworking says:

    WALKER !!!!!!!

    1-0 good guys!

  171. JD says:

    Don’t worry, nobody is listening.

  172. Lad9 says:

  173. Playoffs by 2012 says:

I still can sing the Users Are Losers & Losers Are Users song word for word.

  174. JD says:

    Booyah! He crushed that one.

  175. theplanisworking says:

Ask the 1962 Colt 45′s (Astros) what is was like playing in the bug league.

  176. Eric Bowser says:

    McCutchen….

“Don’t you guys go anywhere. I plan to put on a hitting display.”

    ….or not

  177. Playoffs by 2012 says:

    ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
This is why I love this blog!

  178. theplanisworking says:

2 of the worst defensive teams………. SD and MIL.

We play them like 15 more times, right?

  179. Pedro needs some oxygen two nights in a row! Bucs up 2-0 early.

  180. Lad9 says:

If Venable puts his hand up there and doesn’t pull the stuck ball out, is that a ground rule double?

  181. Playoffs by 2012 says:

    STEVE!!!

  182. JRay3 says:

Team has given AJ some runs to work with of late, time for him to step up.

  184. Lad9 says:

Skeeters the size of dive bombers in that park I am told…

  185. Playoffs by 2012 says:

    HA!

  186. JRay3 says:

Can tell you air is not as thick tonight as it was last evening, chance for balls to carry if hit well, the Pirates put on a show in BP.

  187. Playoffs by 2012 says:

Obviously you have no need for cheap knock-off prescription medicine or shows with donkeys.

  188. Lad9 says:

  189. theplanisworking says:

Its why they built the Astrodome.

  190. Milo Hamilton says:

  192. theplanisworking says:

Did the Marines take their layer back??

  193. theplanisworking says:

    No, thats Dejan.

  194. Hey Playoffs! Sorry to have missed you when the Bucs were in DC, but with getting back from a long trip and work, I didn’t have much time to read the blog much. We did get to see the three wins in DC in person, so that was great. How you been?

  195. Playoffs by 2012 says:

    1 down

  200. Nate83 says:

Wait but he’s facing a right handed pitcher. Since I can’t see it in Toledo I don’t beleive it.

  201. Lad9 says:

    Not touching that one….

  202. JD says:

Where do you live in Toledo?

  203. Nate83 says:

Just outside of Toledo on the east side in Oregon until this year when I move to a small school system named Northwood also on the east side of Toledo.

  204. Arriba Wilver says:

    +1

  205. JD says:

I know them both. I live in Perrysburg and have a daughter at Notre Dame HS.

  206. theplanisworking says:

Is this San Diego air better for Pedro?????

He seems like he is 100 pounds lighter.

    3-0 good guys!!

  207. JRay3 says:

Ho hum just another RBI triple for Pedro, Mr. Offense this series.

  208. Pedro enjoying his trip to San Dog with a great triple to the left center gap. 3-0 Buccos!!

  209. Mercer shown on TV doing the Bull dance or something was classic.

  210. Arriba Wilver says:

    I know, he’s batting .179 with a .603 OPS against righties.

  211. Nate83 says:

Perrysburg the place other soccer teams go to die. My son played soccer up until the year they traveled and played other schools. He was leaning towards choosing baseball over soccer but the Perryburg teams made the decision easier.

  212. Playoffs by 2012 says:

    For Real…Who are these guys??

  213. Playoffs by 2012 says:

    Doing well.

I only was able to get out to 2 games during the DC series.
Forgot how much of a debacle it is to get to that place from NOVA.

Had the family with me for both, so not much time to socialize, ya know?

  214. Patrick(ri) says:

It sounds silly to say about the league’s leading home run hitter, but this is the first time I can recall, seeing him looking and acting like he belongs in the majors(of course here comes an error as I write this). He just seems to have a look about him — the deer seems to have escaped the headlights?

  215. I hear ya on the DC traffic. I too had the family with me at each game, so not much time but to watch the Bucs kick some gnats behinds.

  216. Milo Hamilton says:

    Final

    Milwaukee 6
    St. Louis 3

  217. JRay3 says:

AJ tells Alonzo to STFD….needlessly throws extra pitches due to error, but buckled down when he had to, he has that look tonight.

  218. twentytwo22 says:

Big 0 there after the Pedro error.

  219. Lad9 says:

Sweet. And they were down 3-0.

  220. twentytwo22 says:

53 pitches. Hopefully he settles down and gets some quick outs and goes 7.

  221. AJ escapes a big jam caused by himself, the shift, and maybe a bad call at first on a pickoff. He got helped out slightly by the home plate ump making up for a ball four on a ball that looked to be a high strike, by calling a high strike on the next guy. Come on bats – more runs!!!!

  222. JRay3 says:

Gaby Sanchez says I can hit righties too thank you.

  223. twentytwo22 says:

Leadoff double. Sanchez with 2 hits tonight.

  224. And YES!!! Cardinals lose 6-3, so take advantage and go up another half game on both the Redbirds and Reds. Gaby with a nice right-center gap shot for ground rule double!

  225. Playoffs by 2012 says:

    If Gobby can hit righties
    But Jones can’t

Then who plays against a lefty?

    Sonja Henie is out.

  226. twentytwo22 says:

Bad game so far from Mercer. 0-2 after those 2 Sanchez hits.

  227. Arriba Wilver says:

Clint knows what he is doing.

  228. Nate83 says:

I’m not disagreeing but I have been really impressed with Mercer overall. His approach at the plate is much better then most on the team. I can’t remember the last time I thought to myself this guy is killing us. He has had very few prolonged slumps. I will be the first to admit I was wrong on him.

  229. twentytwo22 says:

    I like him too.

  230. Leave it to the WV guy to take AJ deep and quick too. That ball got out of there in a hurry.

  231. They are overthinking on these shifts at times. That is two balls tonight that if Mercer is in normal position it is a routine groundout. Come on AJ get out of this with a 3-1 lead.

  232. Thundercrack says:

To some he is a Saint

  233. Thundercrack says:

I am not a fan of AJ’s antics/expressions on the mound after bad plays from his teammates

  234. Night all! Keep the Bucs going while I catch some Zzzzzz. That alarm goes off way too early to be up this late anyway. Go Bucs!!!

  235. Jason81 says:

Pirates visit the Navy Seals. Wonder who won the telephone pole carrying contest?

  236. Milo Hamilton says:

“Jones is in a little bit of a funk.” – Greg Brown. Really ?

  237. twentytwo22 says:

    Almost hits are outs.

  238. twentytwo22 says:

    Big inning here for Burnett.

  239. twentytwo22 says:

Pedro sticks with it and gets the first out.

  240. twentytwo22 says:

    Flyout to Tabata. 2 down.

  241. twentytwo22 says:

    Headley strikes out. Inning over.

  242. twentytwo22 says:

Burnett has 96 pitches. San Diego is at the 6th spot in their order. Time to go to the bullpen.

  243. theplanisworking says:

Last night, and so far tonight, the starters have given the bullpen much needed rest.

  244. Milo Hamilton says:

The Seattle Mariners apparently secretly extended the contract of GM Jack Zduriencik before the season. Hmm.

    Hi Frank.

  245. theplanisworking says:

    I’ll take donkeys for 100, please. ;)

  246. twentytwo22 says:

Thank God that ball dropped. Mercer gets ball 4 called strike 1. A single is better for the baseball card.

  247. Arriba Wilver says:

    +1

  248. twentytwo22 says:

Burnett is staying in for another inning. Walks on a full count. 1st and 2nd nobody out. Chance for insurance.

  249. twentytwo22 says:

Tabata with his first offensive contribution tonight, sacrifices the runners up.

  250. theplanisworking says:

    Last night 3-1.
    So far tonight, 3-1.

Is this a result of poor hitting, or good pitching?

    And nice hidden ball trick.
    Not.

  251. Milo Hamilton says:

Ever try the hidden hippo trick ?

  252. theplanisworking says:

It would take a ship-sized glove to pull that one off………..

  253. twentytwo22 says:

    This offense is an abomination.

  254. Thundercrack says:

What’s next for them. Navy Seal training for their minor leaguers ?

  255. theplanisworking says:

    CUTCH !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  256. twentytwo22 says:

McCutchen got a 2-0 count and overswung on an outside fastball. Instead of poking it the other way. He works the count full and hits a high outside fastball the other way to the right CF gap for a 2 run triple. That’s a big-time hit right there.

Walker got a 3-2 breaking ball and rolled over it for an easy out. He didn’t stay inside the ball and failed. McCutchen did and succeeded.

  257. JRay3 says:

Cutch gets into the triple act tonight to give Bucs four run cushion, nice to see the 3, 4 hitters driving in runs. Much different trip to Petco this year compared to what I witnessed last season.

  258. Patrick(ri) says:

I see why Black didn’t walk Cutch.

  259. JD says:

    Wow. JHay!

  260. theplanisworking says:

    OMG!!!!!!!!!!!

    JHAY!!!!!!!!!!!

Brown having another heart attack calling the action………………..

  261. Playoffs by 2012 says:

    K, how bout now?

  262. Thundercrack says:

    I always liked JHay.

    :-)

  263. twentytwo22 says:

Harrison shows the benefit of being a hacker. He hits an opposite field bases loaded triple on a high outside fastball. 8-1 Pirates.

  264. Patrick(ri) says:

    Lmao

  265. Arriba Wilver says:

Josh Harrison pinch hitting for Jones? That’s gotta hurt, I don’t care who you’re married to.

  266. theplanisworking says:

    Well, if we sign DeJesus………………………..

  267. Nate83 says:

Well my wife wishes she was married to Jones but that’s a whole different story.

  268. twentytwo22 says:

    Brown “Clear the… bases!”

  269. JRay3 says:

JHay with a bases clearing triple, Bucs third of night as Pirates blow game open, 8-1.

Bucs about to improve to 8-2 in games I’ve attended, this is as much fun as Anaheim was…Pirate fans here chanting Let’s Go Bucs, just awesome!

  270. Bob Hasis says:

Who the heck was that, up at the top of this thread , mentioned the Pirates would score 8 runs with this loaded lineup

  271. Arriba Wilver says:

    Clint knows what he’s doing.

  272. twentytwo22 says:

All those fans have to help a team playing on the road.

  273. theplanisworking says:

You are now in charge of my lottery numbers………….

  274. Milo Hamilton says:

    POTY candidate.

  275. Patrick(ri) says:

Probably selective perception, but it seems really odd to see a Pirate get a hit with bases loaded.

  276. JRay3 says:

I think he has navigated through and averted collapse III…team once again showing great resilency and bounce back, great start to last west coast swing of year.

  277. JRay3 says:

Tip of the hat to AJ who goes seven strong and makes statement that he can pitch in August.

  278. twentytwo22 says:

    You’re right on.

    Bases loaded:
    National League
    .270ba .289obp .412slg .701ops

    Pirates
    .207ba .222obp .276slg .498ops

  279. Patrick(ri) says:

Perhaps we will “upgress”to the norm? Anyway, it feels good.

  280. Nate83 says:

Hopefully back to back wins and the two pitchers that we depend on the most showing they are not going anywhere will reduce some of the panic. It sounds like the team never paniced and that is more important then anything. I’m glad your getting to see some good games JRay. Have a good night everyone.

  281. Arriba Wilver says:

    +1

  282. twentytwo22 says:

    Yep.

  283. Nate83 says:

Hopefully they upgress during the 6 remaining games against the Reds. I really think they are the more likely competition then the Cards.

  284. twentytwo22 says:

Mazzaro improves his ERA. 3 outs to go.

  285. JD says:

Wow. That does stink. What about runners on 3rd and less than 3 outs?

  286. Nate83 says:

DK just announced a regular appearance on ESPN2 (Keith Obermans new show) on his morning blog. Make sure you give him congrats. Well deserved.

    DK: Thanks, Nate.

  287. JohninOshkosh says:

    Aces, AW!

  288. theplanisworking says:

After the 2-7 debacle, props to Clint for calming the clubhouse, and keeping the team focused. Along with the calmness, the starters have given 14 shutdown innings, saving the bullpen.

This is what the Bucs need to do.
It will overcome the offensive shortcomings, albeit they scored 8 tonight. :)

DK: Actually, Hurdle didn’t manage this game. He only manages the losses.

  289. Patrick(ri) says:

They have the best talent, for sure.

  290. theplanisworking says:

    Just went over there.

Not a more deserving person to get that gig.
    Best of luck to him.

  291. Playoffs by 2012 says:

    Lookout hippo!
    It’s SNARK attack!
    :)

  292. theplanisworking says:

Yeah, I saw the big, bold DK struck again…………. :)

  293. theplanisworking says:

    Raise that Hippo!

    Lets get a sweep tomorrow!

  294. JRay3 says:

Behind seven dominant innings from AJ Burnett, a five run seventh and three triples from the bats, the Bucs dismantle SD 8-1 to win the series and there was noooooo doubt about it.

With the win the Bucs improve to 74-51 take a two game lea in the Central and remain 8.5 up for a playoff spot. The Pirates improve to 9-9 in August and are 2-0 on this seven game road swing.

The Bucs will go for the sweep tomorrow afternoon with Gerritt Cole taking the mound for the Bucs!

    Let’s Go Bucs!

  295. Daquido_Bazzini says:

Nice game from the Pirates!….Even nicer to see them get some clutch hits.

  296. Buster Griffing says:

He was. Baltimore pulled Mark Belanger and put in, Kiko Garcia? (help appreciated), that inning. Robinson ripped a ball past SS into left. I have always wondered if Belanger might have handled it.
