Anyone know what the corresponding move was?

  3. Playoffs by 2012 says:

    WEDNESDAY PICK ‘EM!!!

******PLEASE READ WHAT IS WRITTEN BELOW******
PLEASE PLACE YOUR “WAGERS” AS REPLIES IN THIS COMMENT BOX
Makes my job a helluva lot easier when I don’t have to hunt to find everyone’s “wagers”

Max “wager” is 100 units on any single line.
All “wagers” must be in multiples of 5 units.
Play as few or as many lines as you’d like.
As always, this is for fun and entertainment purposes.

NEW PLAYERS ARE ALWAYS WELCOME & ENCOURAGED!!

    Today’s Pick ‘Em Line

    16 or More (TRIP-TRIP-TRIPLE ODDS)

    GOOD LUCK!!!

74 Down, only 8 more to go!!

Anything is possible if a person believes
    Mark 9:23

    KEEP CALM & BREAK .500

  4. Ghost says:

    Reference to Felix?

  5. Dadtackular says:

Steak and Potatoes moved down so there will be more room for Pie.

  6. 21sthebest says:

    Sounds like Ryan Reid optioned.

  7. Bizrow says:

    I’ll put 100 on 12-15

    Beat Em Bucs

    Go like 60

    Thanks Playoffs

  8. Great tweet from DK, who looks surprisingly like Tim Tebow now.

The inimitable @SuckMeter on Garrett Jones’ slump: “He looks as confused at the plate as Mike Zagurski does with a salad in front of him.”

Wish I could listen to that show at work. No can do.

  9. blazer says:

I’ll take 100 on the 8-11 Line please.

  10. blazer says:

I’ll take 100 on the 8-11 Line please.

  11. Yeah, too bad Dejesus is an infielder. He’s hitting 70 or so points higher than Pie at Indy.

  12. Bizrow says:

There would be two moves, one for the 40 man, one for the 25

Crap, I hope Marte is ok

  13. blazer says:

    Disregard this one!

  14. AJS says:

i know this wasn’t what you meant but my first thought went to Snider!

  15. TCB says:

    100 on 8-11, please.

  16. Dadtackular says:

    100 Pies on 8-11

  17. Playoffs by 2012 says:

McPherson will be taken off Triple-A DL, and be called up, then immediately moved to the Major League 60-Day DL.

    That is my prediction.

  18. Dadtackular says:

    Nice one!

  19. Sorry, that was a guess. It’s actually 69 points lower. But Pie has actually hit for better average in the majors than in the minors, if you still consider that old-school, worn-out stat called batting average.

  20. Tom P. says:

To carry over my comment from the earlier thread in which I stated that there was no chance for the Pirates to gain ground on St. Louis today because it was already 7-0 Cardinals in the second. Well, it is now 7-5 Cardinals after 5. Shows what I know (but you folks had already figured that out.)

  21. Bob Hasis says:

My suspicions are there is, but NH isn’t saying, and CH can’t.

    I do hope I’m wrong!

No run predictions tonight; can’t calculate Pie ala Barmes.

  22. Bizrow says:

I think you hit that just right.

Plus I don’t think Presley has been down for 10 days yet, hence the move

  23. Bizrow says:

I bet on the Cards to win, you didn’t know that though ;-)

  24. Bizrow says:

    Kidding BTW

  25. Dom says:

    100 ON 8-11!!!

    THANKS!!!

  26. Dadtackular says:

    Well played Bob.

  27. Playoffs by 2012 says:

Presley and Lambo can’t come up unless there is an injury.
Pie comes up for a few games.

    Then either Presley comes back,
    OR
They trade for another player and that person takes Pie’s 25-man and 40-man spot.

  28. Dadtackular says:

With Pie in the lineup, I’m guessing we will score 3.14159265359 Runs.

  29. Dom says:

Someone brought up a good point in the Java thread about who should be our three pitchers in the playoffs.

#1 and 2 are obvious. For #3, I’d personally go with Morton at this point.

Cole and his 100 MPH fastball would be an excellent bullpen option.

  30. Lad9 says:

    +2 Verrrrry well played

  31. Bill Born says:

    50 on the 4 – 7 hit line.
    Please
    Thank You

  32. Tom P. says:

That’s why I don’t play fantasy sports. I’m much better at analyzing the result than predicting the outcome.

  33. Tom P. says:

Is that a new line for Playoffs?

  34. Playoffs by 2012 says:

The Window does not believe in the existence of Pi
The Window only works with numbers that can be accurately calculated.

You try calculating the OVER / UNDER of Pi

  35. John Lease says:

    Only if it’s Pi A…

  36. Bob Hasis says:

    Excellent!

  37. John Lease says:

WTF? Why can’t they bring back Presley? I don’t want a sucky rancid vinegar Pie.

  38. Dom says:

Le’Veon Bell is out 6-8 weeks.

  39. Bob Hasis says:

. . .and remember Pie r /2 is a fallacy; Pie are round – but you knew that.

  40. Brandie says:

I would like 50 on the 8-11, My Dear Mr. Playoffs.

  41. Lad9 says:

Awesome! And if he gets a walk-off, AJ will pie Pie.

  42. Brandie says:

    Sharp wit, Strictly Bizrow.

  43. Dom says:

That’s a better score than what the Buccos have been able to get in some recent games.

  44. Bob Hasis says:

In AJ’s case, Pie are shaving cream

  45. Milo Hamilton says:

He can’t come back until he’s been down for 10 days unless replacing someone put on the DL.

  46. Lad9 says:

Going with 8-11 hits for 100. Saw Ian Kennedy pitch in Tampa and he does not impress me. Thank you Playoffs. Go Buccos!

  47. Brandie says:

He’s looking to be about as dependable as cheap toilet paper!

  48. Bob Hasis says:

Did you get this from DK’s “moonlight employer”?

  49. Dom says:

He didn’t miss a game for Michigan but cannot play in his first regular season game in the NFL.

  50. Dom says:

    “Moonlight employer”? Who’s that?

  51. Brandie says:

    “She’s my cherry pie!”

Whoops! Went off on a bad hair metal tangent.

    Pardon me (looking sheepish).

  52. JohninOshkosh says:

Pecan Pie is the best pie.

  53. Brandie says:

Calculate the over/under of jokes about Pie/pie/Pi.

  54. Dom says:

    Pecan? No way!

I’d go with Apple or Strawberry!

  55. Thundercrack says:

I know but if Marte was OK –he would be playing, correct?

  56. JHadar says:

    Banana Cream for me

  57. Thundercrack says:

He can’t play the outfield either.

  58. Thundercrack says:

Felix Pie just got himself a playoff share
    $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

  59. SeanAY says:

Just saw Buster Olney tweet that Jack Z. in Seattle signed an extension through the 2014 season…way back during the offseason, during the winter meetings. We’re just finding out about it now.

I’m just glad the Pirates are now not the only team to do something that stupid.

  60. Milo Hamilton says:

Juan D. to the 60 day. I believe I had that.

  61. Milo Hamilton says:

Glad to see he got his piece of the pie.

  62. Bob Hasis says:

    The four-letter station

  63. JohninOshkosh says:

Mythical outfield: Darryl Strawberry and Felix Pie so Strawberry Pie in the outfield.

If Mark Appel (Boo!) was pitching, the matchup would be Appel vs Pie

(All I could think of off the top of my head).

  64. tdb1977 says:

Greetings from Detroit fellow lunatics. Wish it was actually greetings from San Deigo, but this will do. Going to the Twins/Tigers matchup this evening for stadium number 2. Great to see the Bucs get the victory last night against the Padres, and even happier to see the Cardinals and Reds both lost to help out in the standings. Really hope the Bucs can get the sweep this afternoon before heading up the coast to San Fran for the weekend.

Tonight, I get to witness former Bucco Kevin Correia go up against Anabil Sanchez in this AL Central matchup. Just miss seeing Verlander by a day. Former Bucco, Ryan Doumit will be behind the plate as well for the Twins. Hoping for a decent game tonight. Will be heading to the park shortly and will be scoreboard watching as the Bucs will be playing at the same time.

Have a great evening Bucco Fans. Will try to post a review of the game later tonight and my thoughts on Comerica Park. Until then, LETS GO BUCS! Get the sweep today.

  65. Bob Hasis says:

Definitely the structure has developed a few fissures!

  66. Playoffs by 2012 says:

    WINNER WINNER

  67. Bob Hasis says:

How about that Apple Pie with some Wisconsin Brick or super sharp cheddar (my fav)

  68. Nor Cal Stlrfanrtc (Ryan) says:

So because Barmes is in the lineup, you can’t predict the total runs? Amazing what one guy does to the lineup…

  69. Thundercrack says:

    Oh Milo

  70. Lad9 says:

    +1 on the banana cream

  71. Nor Cal Stlrfanrtc (Ryan) says:

    100 on 8-11

  72. Thundercrack says:

I saw a story today about this. The team president is very tight-lipped about it and said almost the same words that FC used a few years ago (“we don’t talk about the contract status..blah,blah,blah”). the similarities between the two stories was unbelievable.

The story said that they might be interested in Brian Cashman who could be a free agent after 2014.

  73. Lad9 says:

I think you will like Comerica. Very nice ballpark. Cavernous in center field.

  74. JohninOshkosh says:

I’ve seen the cheese on pie thing, Robert. I’ve never tried it though.

  75. JHadar says:

And if Felix was batting and the pitcher was Jim Kaat . . .

  76. Milo Hamilton says:

We won’t see him again this year.

  77. Nor Cal Stlrfanrtc (Ryan) says:

hey I thought the same thing when I saw the 7-0 score. Not just you.

  78. JohninOshkosh says:

Good one. I hadn’t thought of that angle. Well done.

  79. Baywatch says:

Is this sorta like I never was much of a runner, but anytime I paid $50 for a pair of running shoes (in 1980 nonetheless) I was really much more motivated? The expensive shoes in this analogy is THE MAJORS. :-)

  80. Baywatch says:

    +1!

  81. Milo Hamilton says:

Cashman was just called on the carpet in Tampa yesterday by shallow Hal to answer for the Yankees barren minor leagues.

  82. Nor Cal Stlrfanrtc (Ryan) says:

    Like last night? bwahahahahaha

  83. Bob Hasis says:

This home plate umpire in the Little league game on espn is ridiculous. He is absolutely ruining the game between two teams that match up quite well.

I know they volunteer, and are not paid. I think more skilled umpires ( an oxymoron for sure) are required.

  84. Milo Hamilton says:

That’s why I stopped playing your game, it would have been my 1st win of the season. :)

  85. Baywatch says:

I’ll grant you, Brandie, that’s NOT very dependable! “And the sailors say, Brandie ..”

  86. JohninOshkosh says:

I’m guessing Cashman would love to get as far away as possible from his crazy litigious ex-mistress.

Hell hath no fury like a crazy woman scorned.

  87. Karen22 says:

    50 on 8-11, please.

    And I like apple Pie.

  88. Karen22 says:

I heard it and almost fell off my chair!

  89. Baywatch says:

    LOL!

  90. NMR says:

Already been on the DL long enough, so isn’t this just a paper move?

Saves them from removing someone else from the 40-man just so Pie can come up for a few.

  91. Karen22 says:

    Nyuk nyuk nyuk!!

  92. Brandie says:

Sweet potato made with egg nog in the mix…my dad’s recipe.

  93. Dom says:

I mean like the game on last friday

  94. Milo Hamilton says:

The Cardinals are going to fiddle around & blow this game.

  95. Brandie says:

    Good “The Jefferson’s” reference.

  96. Dom says:

Nope, the three letter station: CBS

  97. Bob Hasis says:

Give it a shot. Just adds another dimension. I was kind of weaned on it. My Dad loved my Mom’s home made apple with a slice of American cheese, so by extension, I did as well.

  98. Brandie says:

    It’s Rarin’ Karen! Howdy dear.

  99. JHadar says:

That wouldn’t be a bad thing. (Even if it is the Brewers)

  100. Milo Hamilton says:

Just a paper move indeed. I think he’s done though. They keep saying he’s progressing & he keeps saying it still hurts. Tommy John in the off season, just wait & see.

  101. Nor Cal Stlrfanrtc (Ryan) says:

Bet he’s fast around the bases

  102. Karen22 says:

    Howdy yourself, Branimal! :)

    Ready for some Broom Pie.

  103. Brandie says:

How about with Mike Piazza catching Felix Pie…Piazza Pie.

    Yeah, I know. It’s a reach!

  104. Brandie says:

    Like the sound of that.

  105. Brandie says:

    Dear Lad,

Thinking of changing my screen name to

    Rusty Staub’s Hair.

  106. Arriba Wilver says:

Mark Madden (everybody’s favorite) said Bell had run 385 times last year for Michigan State and had a 4.7 yds per run average. He didn’t think he should be considered injury prone yet. But bummer on the Lisfranc injury, though.

  107. TK says:

    100 on 16 or More

  108. Brandie says:

Quit picking on Zagurski…He was a svelte 275!

  109. The Gunner says:

100 on 12-15 for the ol’ Gunner. Let’s go strap it on the Padres tonight.

  110. Bob Hasis says:

Correia, Bedard and Ohlendorf are all going tonight, in separate games. Do you think a win will occur for any of the three?

  111. Nor Cal Stlrfanrtc (Ryan) says:

Sucks I won’t be home in time for the game…..They do have that long flight up to SF ya know. Hope they packed long sleeves.

  112. Playoffs by 2012 says:

That can’t be accurately calculated either :)

  113. Brandie says:

Thank my Dad for the reason I have that name. :-)

  114. JRay3 says:

Hanging out in the OF here at Petco, nice to see Jason Grilli throw a bit and he was bringing some velocity, definitely an encouraging sign.

  115. Playoffs by 2012 says:

    Was that a WARRANT reference?
I may have to dock you 100 imaginary betting units for that.

  116. Arriba Wilver says:

    +1

  117. The Gunner says:

Let’s hope so, Milo. The Buccos need all the help they can get!

  118. Chico says:

100 on the 8-11 line. Thanks!

  119. Playoffs by 2012 says:

You could be the August acquisition that wins it all!

  120. Brandie says:

    I’m shaking in my bikini!

  121. Milo Hamilton says:

Brewers are completely blowing this. Have left 13 on through 8 & the bases loaded the last 2.

  122. Playoffs by 2012 says:

    Sonja Henie is out.
    How about Jerry Meals?

  123. Brandie says:

Maybe he can borrow a ligament from Zagurski or Jonathan Sanchez as they don’t seem to need them.

  124. Baywatch says:

We don’t need him anymore! Maybe the Twins would like him for Morneau!

  125. The Gunner says:

Then, the big bad Buccos need to take matters into their own hands and dominate the Padres tonight.

  126. Playoffs by 2012 says:

    Here is a sobering statistic….

    IF
Gerrit Cole gets a hit in his first at bat today,
He will have a better batting average than 7 of the other 8 starters playing today.

    WOW!

  127. NMR says:

    Ah, gotcha.

    And unfortunately agreed.

  128. Stuart says:

Playoffs, 100 on the 8-11 please.

    Stuart

  129. JohninOshkosh says:

Very good thinking outside of the pie tin. :)

  130. Baywatch says:

Just a small part of the soundtrack for my Summer of ’72, Branje! Just graduated from high school when that came out. Lion’s share of that soundtrack goes to Paul McCartney’s “RAM” album – his second solo after leaving The Beatles. “Me & Mrs. Jones” would also be on there, and … ENOUGH, BAY! :-)

  131. Playoffs by 2012 says:

You can make it a daily double if you add a reference to WINGER.

  132. Brandie says:

In-laws were married in August of 1972!

  133. Nor Cal Stlrfanrtc (Ryan) says:

    Who?

  134. bizrow says:

AW, if you visit today, check your e-mail

  135. MadTurk says:

Send Harrison down and bring up Dejesus

  136. MadTurk says:

    oops

  137. Arriba Wilver says:

Really too bad, too. Think of our 1-3 in the playoffs with him.

  138. Milo Hamilton says:

The 8 St. Louis runs today were scored off Tom Gorzelanny & Mike Gonzalez.

  139. cosmo says:

    100 on the 8-11 line

  140. Thundercrack says:

    +1

  141. Thundercrack says:

Which one goes on the DL tomorrow morning?

  142. Nor Cal Stlrfanrtc (Ryan) says:

Ohllie could, he’s going against the Cubs. Other 2, probably not.

  143. JRay3 says:

Good afternoon from Petco Park in SD on Wednesday afternoon sweep day.
Perfect day to make it three straight.

    50 on 8-11

    Thanks and Go Bucs!

  144. Brandie says:

Good to see the alumni are doing sooooo well.

  145. Dadtackular says:

If Felix hits well, could he be the next Felix Pie Traynor?

  146. Brandie says:

Let’s not be Headed for a Heartbreak as the Bucs go for a sweep.

    Challenge met!

  147. Arriba Wilver says:

    Got it.

  148. Please Dom, Michigan State. Please don’t mention that other school.

    :)

  149. Ghost says:

Grilled Cheese. Wish Jandy was here to issue a “thwap.”

  150. That’s his cult affiliation, not his employer.

  151. Baywatch says:

Sorry, I meant to reply to JRay3′s reference to Grilli … HALF-kidding!

  152. Jason81 says:

    100 on 8-11 hits, please!

  153. Cmat0829 says:

    100 on 8 to 11

  154. Arriba Wilver says:

    They’re still screwing us.

  155. JD says:

    100 on 12 hits please.

    Let’s Go Bucs

  156. theplanisworking says:

Every time Zagurski walks into a Golden Corral, the cows slowly weep.

  157. theplanisworking says:

    Mr. Playoffs………………..

May I have 100 Hippo Pies, and please dont feed Felix to the trolls on the 8-11 please.

Thank you for continuing to lock your fridges!!! ;)

  158. Jandy says:

Just popped in to make a wager. Please sir, 100 slices of Pie on 8-11 please. Go Bucs!

  159. Nor Cal Stlrfanrtc (Ryan) says:

That wasn’t very difficult, Brandie was only 17 when she heard that……

    Seveennnteeennnn

  160. Bob Hasis says:

That is worthy of a rim shot – bah da bump bump

  161. Nor Cal Stlrfanrtc (Ryan) says:

Thing of the past. can’t remember that far back…(stolen from AJ)

  162. theplanisworking says:

I can easily calculate anything related to Pie/Pi.

I had apple today, so I know it exists, and being it is gone, the UNDER wins!

    ;)

  163. Nor Cal Stlrfanrtc (Ryan) says:

    That would be this guy…………

I had Cole at #3. No issue with CM filing that slot though, depending on which CM showed up.

  164. theplanisworking says:

    ++++++++++++++++++

    Winger,
    Warrant,
    Win.

    EAT HOT PIE !!!!!!!!!!

  165. theplanisworking says:

Reverend, saw Tresssssssssss is going to Teach at Akron.
I guess they needed a dirty vest, eh?

  166. Playoffs by 2012 says:

    :shudders:

  167. theplanisworking says:

The Rock had right in which Pie he likes………………… ;)

  168. Nor Cal Stlrfanrtc (Ryan) says:

And I believe he’s the one that holds the rights to the option.

It could very well be TJ surgery, but if there was any thought in that, I would think they would’ve done the surgery ASAP instead of waiting this long.

  169. theplanisworking says:

But did the Seattle President get a DUI after this announcement like Frank did?

  170. theplanisworking says:

Now, will he have to have Tommy John?

    Thats how this normally progresses…………

  171. Nor Cal Stlrfanrtc (Ryan) says:

    Should be totally kidding……

  172. Nor Cal Stlrfanrtc (Ryan) says:

Could do without all the “thawping” around here……

  173. theplanisworking says:

    Laz Diaz.

  174. Nor Cal Stlrfanrtc (Ryan) says:

    Who cares

  175. Ghost says:

I like the “thwaps.” Usually, just right.

  176. theplanisworking says:

Thanks for your joyless input tonight, both toward me and another poster.

  177. Frankie says:

    100 on 8-11

    Thanks

  178. Ghost says:

Was enjoying the ‘food’ theme till you brought up Meals…

  179. Brandie says:

    Good one, Planadu.

    Or should I say…

PLANCIN’ MACHINE!!!! WATCH HIM GET DOWN!

  180. JaxBuc says:

Please sir, may I have 50 on the 8-11 line?

  181. radio wave says:

At playoffs: I will take 100 on the 8 to 11 hits.

  182. theplanisworking says:

    Hi Brandie!

Good to see a joyous person tonight!

    Hope you are doing well.

  183. Matt hoffman says:

I have watched Pie in Indy this year. He is a sound, fundamental player.

  184. theplanisworking says:

    WOW!!!!!

    Nice slide for a hit!!!

    PIE FOR EVERYONE !!!

  185. theplanisworking says:

Mr. Reverend, how are you tonight?

  186. Tom P. says:

We were both right after all. Just took a little longer.

  187. theplanisworking says:

    Oh well, ……………….

  188. JRay3 says:

Pie did have 38 SB in the IL, flashed his speed for infield hit not so much on swipe attempt.

  189. Brandie says:

All smiles, Plan. I will give some to yinz.

  190. Milo Hamilton says:

Jones 5 for 7 with a homer against Kennedy.

  191. theplanisworking says:

    Thanks.
    You’re the bestest.

  192. Jones is way due to get at least a hit!

  193. radio wave says:

Jones has a good lifetime average against the sky.

  194. irishjim says:

    Jones is finished. Get Morneau!

  195. Eric Bowser says:

    Jones sucks… seriously….

  196. Brandie says:

    Awww. Plan.

    You make me blush!

  197. Brandie says:

Couldn’t they have pinch hit for Jones immediately?

  198. The Gunner says:

Jones continues to be unproductive & I have seen enough of him. They might as well play Gaby regularly at 1B.

  199. The Gunner says:

even Matt Hague would be a better option at this point (and a lot cheaper)

  200. Eric Bowser says:

Jones is so bad right now, I could strike him out.

  201. theplanisworking says:

So, it appears that 2012 was an aberration?
Do you think he is re-signed for next year?

  202. Brandie says:

    Why not at this point?

  203. Nor Cal Stlrfanrtc (Ryan) says:

And there goes the No-No……..Send him down.

  204. Brandie says:

Is it all in his head or is he hurt? If it’s the former, can JMAC make room on the therapy couch for him?

  205. Of course Pie getting picked off that inning also hurt since it may have lead to a run, or at least better pitches for Martin to hit. Clearly the way Jones has been not hitting, they probably pitched around Martin to get to Jones.

  206. JRay3 says:

Sitting right behind home plate today next to the other teams scouts, and early observations on Cole- his fastball has such late life, gets on you quick hitting as high as 97, his curve does not have sharp or much downward movement but just based on speed differential can see where he can get batters out in front if placed well does not appear too have total command yet of that pitch.

Really mixed his pitches and speeds in first, maybe part of him making an adjustment.

  207. Nor Cal Stlrfanrtc (Ryan) says:

I’m curious. If Garrett Jones comes back and gets 2 hits tonight, will you all still freak out and say how bad he is and that he needs replaced?

I dont think that will happen, but NW has been coming on strong lately, Jones can too.

  208. Nor Cal Stlrfanrtc (Ryan) says:

Look at you, always rubbing noses with the big boys…..they other day Morris, now the scouts…….

    Well played sir.

  209. JohninOshkosh says:

Dejan really needs to send you a check. Good and interesting stuff.

  210. The Gunner says:

    Brandie

Jones is done in Pittsburgh, he is killing us. He has to be phased out immiediately. And, they’ll never go for Morneau IMHO.

  211. Nor Cal Stlrfanrtc (Ryan) says:

    Because he’s sucked lately.

  212. Eric Bowser says:

One game with two hits isn’t going to mean he’s out of anything.

I don’t think anyone expects a .270 hitter but I sure as heck expect much more than his 11 HR and 42 RBI.

  213. Brandie says:

It is my sincere hope he does. It has been hard to watch his implosion on a daily basis.

  214. Nor Cal Stlrfanrtc (Ryan) says:

Well aware that 1 game doesnt get you out of a slump, but seriously….one game at a time. 2 hits for him, or anyone for that matter, is a good game.

  215. theplanisworking says:

    Beats me.

Jones has regressed severely this year.

  216. theplanisworking says:

    Dejan has money?

  217. Nor Cal Stlrfanrtc (Ryan) says:

He is struggling, that’s for sure.

  218. Milo Hamilton says:

    Does now.

  219. theplanisworking says:

    Several things in play here.

    1) He is pressing, which wont help him at all.
    2) There isnt an adequate replacement on the bench. Benching him for a stretch might help him get it together. It also might not, but that option really isnt available now.

  220. Eric Bowser says:

I agree, it is one game at a time but Jones isn’t approaching the game that way, which concerns me. His swing has been bad all year.

  221. Brandie says:

That’s what I mean…take Gaby now. Let Jones ride the pine. Something is obviously wrong. It is hard to watch him hurt the team and play below his own expectations.

  222. Nor Cal Stlrfanrtc (Ryan) says:

For those that really care about where Bob Nutting’s money goes too, here’s a break down of Liriano’s contract.

    http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/

  223. JohninOshkosh says:

Tons of it. He’s a suckling on ESPN’s teat now.

  224. Nor Cal Stlrfanrtc (Ryan) says:

    ha ha..that’s 2 things, not several….

    Dont mind me, just bored……

  225. Milo Hamilton says:

    .221 since May 1st with 27 RBI & .133 in August.

  226. theplanisworking says:

    I was never good at math………… ;)

  227. JRay3 says:

Cole splitting bats when he comes inside than goes 98, 99 to get Kennedy on strikes, just an electric power arm. He certainly makes it tough in the hitter.

  228. theplanisworking says:

    Oh Goodie!

Maybe he will have a “Blog Appreciation Day” at the end of the year?

    :D

  229. Nor Cal Stlrfanrtc (Ryan) says:

His swings have always been bad…..IMHO

  230. Brandie says:

    Hey. Hey.

    Good evening Minister Matt!

  231. Nor Cal Stlrfanrtc (Ryan) says:

    Me either……

    I usually start out with:

    1. blah blah blah
    B. blah blah blah

  232. Nor Cal Stlrfanrtc (Ryan) says:

    Money…….

  233. Milo Hamilton says:

4,000 hits for Ichiro, sort of.

  234. Nor Cal Stlrfanrtc (Ryan) says:

98, 99 inside should be illegal, for everybody else……..

  235. Milo Hamilton says:

    … and Suzyn’s crying.

  236. Nor Cal Stlrfanrtc (Ryan) says:

    How sort of?

I haven’t been paying attention to his run. Are they including his Japanese totals?

  237. theplanisworking says:

    +

  238. Brandie says:

    I want my quarter now!!!!!

  239. irishjim says:

If and when he reaches 3,000 in MLB it will be an amazing accomplishment after starting so late here.

  240. Nor Cal Stlrfanrtc (Ryan) says:

Shouldn’t count……..Or, give back his ROY title.

I’d still take him in our RF. Like that guy a lot.

  241. theplanisworking says:

    HA!

    How about 2 Mallo Cups?

  242. 21sthebest says:

    +++++++

  243. Brandie says:

It made my brain grind to a halt as well, and that’s not easy to do.

  244. JohninOshkosh says:

    HOF’er in two nations.

  245. Brandie says:

He is the little engine that could.

  246. Milo Hamilton says:

He’s a hall of famer already. And at 41 years old they used him to pinch run yesterday.

  247. Nor Cal Stlrfanrtc (Ryan) says:

He has 12 years in the league. He’s a hitting machine..

2 more years and he’ll get to 3000.

  248. Brandie says:

    Or Starbucks Groupons!

  249. Nor Cal Stlrfanrtc (Ryan) says:

I’d take this Venable guy for the PIrates RF slot as well.

I was typing that before his double………J/S

  250. Nor Cal Stlrfanrtc (Ryan) says:

    He’s 39

  251. Of course, failure in the top of the first now leads to a deficit of 1-0 bad guys.

  252. Nor Cal Stlrfanrtc (Ryan) says:

Of course, I’d probably take anyone’s RF option over ours, but I digress

  253. Milo Hamilton says:

    I was using Japanese years.

  254. Arriba Wilver says:

    +1

  255. Milo Hamilton says:

Happy for Ian Kennedy that he’s gotten his ERA under FIVE.

  256. theplanisworking says:

    Hooray!!!
    A hit !!!!!!

    Lets wake up, please.

  257. Milo Hamilton says:

Remember, every day is one day closer to the electronic strike zone.

  258. Matt hoffman says:

    Hello Plan
I am fine. Sorry I am late for the party! Lol

  259. Did these guys spend too much time with the Navy Seals today or somethin’? All but Cutch are sleep walking to another loss. Horrible to see since the two teams behind them have won or are winning.

  260. Patrick(ri) says:

What is Kennedy’s all-time srikeout record? Are we close to bedtime?

  261. Jandy says:

Seems Cole is the new AJ. NO run support…or ANY support.

  262. Matt hoffman says:

    Hi Brandie
    Hope you are behaving? Lol

  263. Brandie says:

Definitely a hard one to trudge through.

  264. Cole really needs to develop a great breaking ball. They are just sitting dead red on these fastballs.

  265. Matt hoffman says:

I just saw where we got Liriano for next year for $6 million with $2 more in incentives.

  266. Arriba Wilver says:

I hate to state the obvious, but, Dang, Martin is good. That caught stealing should make the highlight reel.

  267. Patrick(ri) says:

The way they are drilling him, lucky to be in the game. Credit ti him for hanging in there.

  268. Matt hoffman says:

Sorry if that has been posted earlier. I just got home from hospital visitation.

  269. Jason81 says:

Was just about to post the same thing. He’s frustrated after all of these hits. Maybe if he mixed up his pitches a little better, that wouldn’t be an issue. Hitters can turn around 95 mph+ heat if that’s all they see.

  270. theplanisworking says:

    Hi Nun!

  271. Patrick(ri) says:

The only way the Pie appearance makes sense.

  272. Jandy says:

    Hey Planadu! How are you?

  273. theplanisworking says:

I was afraid something like this could happen tonight.
8 runs last night, only 3 stinking hits for far tonight.

Really need to come back here, SF has always been a bad place for the Pirates to play.
Even when the Giants stunk, we couldnt get too many wins there.

Need to wake up and beat this bottom-feeding team.

  274. Patrick(ri) says:

    +1.

  275. Arriba Wilver says:

I was surprised to see that reported since I thought we already had him if we wanted him. Apparently his option vested, so we HAVE to take him. ;-)

  276. theplanisworking says:

    Is that like Xanadu?

    I am fine.
    Just hoping for a comeback.
    Quiet bats, quiet blog tonight.

  277. Brandie says:

Get Thee To A Nunnery…How goes it?

  278. Jandy says:

Our guys are making Kennedy look like an ace. No way he’s that good

  279. Bob Hasis says:

Let’s see what Barmie can generate

  280. Brandie says:

Yes. Because I had a free moment!

  281. Jandy says:

Yeah these guys are pissing me off tonight. I finally get to watch and they are stinkin it up :(

  282. theplanisworking says:

    :D

  283. Jandy says:

    Brandicita!

  284. theplanisworking says:

    Thanks Sisters Brandie, and Jandy.
My night is complete now that I got an AMEN!

    :D

  285. Jandy says:

A nunnery would excommunicate me lol.. but hey…went car shopping with hubby and found a 2008 Shelby Mustang we are gonna buy. Traded the 7 Up Mustang in on it

  286. Matt hoffman says:

You are correct AW. His option vested. Sorry

  287. Milo Hamilton says:

In his last start, Ian Kennedy gave up 3 home runs in 4.2 innings. TO THE METS.

  288. Jandy says:

    Halleluia!!

  289. Brandie says:

    What fun is that?

  290. Jandy says:

    That’s what I’m talkin about!

  291. Jandy says:

Ummmm I’ll take your word for it!

  292. The Gunner says:

Just like they performed with the Bucs

  293. theplanisworking says:

I say the Pirates NEVER have anything to do with SEALS ever again.

Last fall, Polanco gets hurt doing that stuff,
today, the Pirates cant hit the broad side of the Marine Layer.

  294. Patrick(ri) says:

    Pardon the irrelevancy.

  295. theplanisworking says:

Good God, a Nun on the Run !!!

  296. Brandie says:

Nor can they hit the broad side of a broad broad.

  297. Brandie says:

A nun with a need, a need for speed.

  298. Jandy says:

    Lol! It’s a nice car.

  299. Jandy says:

I like to squeal tires. ;)

  300. Arriba Wilver says:

No need to be sorry. Frank reported it.

    Hi Frank.

  301. theplanisworking says:

    Amongst other things! ;)

  302. theplanisworking says:

    Got one!!!

    Lets get more!

  303. Jandy says:

    Shhhhh!! ;)

  304. Brandie says:

    I like to squeal.

  305. Jandy says:

These guys are killing me. Lol

  306. Lad9 says:

Good evening Crüe! Sorry I am late. Trip to the urgicare for an upper respiratory infection. Yuck. Lets go Bucs!

  307. theplanisworking says:

    TMI !

  308. Lad9 says:

    :). :). :)

  309. Jandy says:

    Weeeeeeeeee!!!

  310. Cole needs to learn to throw a breaking ball, and Pedro needs to learn how to hit one. When teams go soft, low and away to Pedro he swings over it all day.

  311. Jandy says:

    Rad Lad! The Crue’s.all here!

  312. Jandy says:

Ewwwwww sounds nasty. Hope it clears up fast!

  313. Lad9 says:

A Shelby! Wow. Always wanted one of those. Way to go Jandy!

  314. JD says:

    Relax dude. Chill out.

  315. Brandie says:

Good vibes to the radical one.

  316. Lad9 says:

Me too. I am now Lad Roid for 5 days though.

  317. Jandy says:

Hubby has always revered Carroll Shelby for how he made the mustang special. His dream has been to own one. Now he does. :) thanks.Lad Man!

  318. Jandy says:

    Drink lots of fluids too

  319. theplanisworking says:

    CLEAR FLUIDS!

    Beer doesnt count!!!

  320. Parrothead01 says:

Garrett Jones needs to sit for the next week. He has become pretty useless.he should have let the curve in the diet hit him. That’s the only way he would see first.

  321. theplanisworking says:

    Ugly loss tonight.
We did take 2 of 3 to this wretched team.

Now off to SF, where the Pirates have historically struggled.
Here is hoping for the best against the Giants.

  322. Milo Hamilton says:

Since May 1st Garrett Jones has 27 RBI. Pedro has 27 home runs.

  323. florida steeler says:

    Yes,
But Garrett Jones is killing this offense. Come on Neal–get Morneau tomorrow and send Garrett home. Morneau has to do better than Jones and Gaby.

  324. Jandy says:

Beer will clog the head. No beer

  325. Jandy says:

Ugh! I’m off to bed. Night everyone!

  326. theplanisworking says:

    Me too!

    Night everybody.
    Lets get em tomorrow.
    And the next day.

  327. Lad9 says:

Got it. Patron Silver it is!

  328. Lad9 says:

    Night Jandy and Plan.

  329. Arriba Wilver says:

Kennedy’s had a tough year, but he’s a talented pitcher.

  330. Brandie says:

Hard loss. Fun chatting with you all. Off to bed. Pleasant dreams.

  331. Lad9 says:

That’s is a stunning stat. Can not go into the postseason with that kind of production. Need to upgrade (which should not be difficult), not necessarily pick up the next Pujols

  332. Lad9 says:

    Night Branimal. Same to you.

  333. KenKopp says:

I remember back in the day if a player was in a bad slump he would burn all his bats and start with new ones. Uh Garret I have a lighter if you need one. Tell Gabby and a few other guys to join ya.

  334. Milo Hamilton says:

Alfonso Soriano has 28 RBI in 26 days with the Yankees.

  335. JohninOshkosh says:

He just might carry the Yankees to the playoffs.

  336. Milo Hamilton says:

Come on John, one guy can’t make a difference. :)

  337. JohninOshkosh says:

David Dejesus (LH), Marlon Byrd (RH), Nate Schierholtz (LH), Justin Maxwell (RH), Alphonso Soriano (RH), Alex Rios (RH), Adam Dunn (LH), Jeff Francoeur (RH), Justin Morneau (LH), Delmon Young (RH), Mark Reynolds (RH) Roger Bernadina (LH)

Those players above either moved from one team to another, DFA’d or rumored to have been available.

The waiver wire is secret. If I was a betting man, and knowing the respective organizations’ dedication to rebuilding, I would bet Byrd and Schierholtz were placed on waivers. At any rate all of these players were presumably available for trade prior to the deadline. Some of them were actually moved. Young and Francoeur were recently DFA’d.

I find it interesting that the Yankees-fighting for a playoff spot-acquired Soriano and later Reynolds.

I think one or a combination of two of the players above might have helped the Bucs down the stretch. Some could have been got for next to nothing. Others would require money. A few may have costs minor leaguers.

Of course, goes without saying that any given player might not have amounted to a hill of beans. Then again, a change of scenery can do wonders for a ballplayer. Who knows ? But risk is a fact of life for all of us.

  338. Thundercrack says:

I think Delmon Young and Jeff Francoeur are less than a hill of beans. They wouldn’t help us.

And I am surprised the Yankees are still fighting for a playoff spot. But have you seen their lineup? That is why they are trading for Soriano and need Reynolds. And I don’t get the Dejesus move by the Nationals.

  339. Karen22 says:

WOW, we’re really boring compared to you…just bought a 2011 Camry, re-inherited son’s Honda Civic we bought for him years ago, & gave him our 2004 Accord. I think I can now speak Japanese…

  340. JohninOshkosh says:

It was a very weird move, TC. But, the point was he was probably available prior to the deadline. Of course, I have no idea what the Cubs wanted. Byrd would probably be the Mets MVP if the vote was taken today (positional player MVP, that is). I’m not big on Francoeur but I’m not sure Delmon Young is finished yet (if he can stay off the sauce).

  341. Lad9 says:

And I just had to shell out $2K to fix a 2001 Accord that my son uses. We have 4 Hondas and a Hyundai. :)

  342. Karen22 says:

HAHA, Laddie! We’ve had nothing but Hondas & Toyotas our entire 34 years of marriage. SOLD!!
