  1. Playoffs by 2012 says:

Makes my job a helluva lot easier when I don’t have to hunt to find everyone’s “wagers”

Max “wager” is 100 units on any single line.
All “wagers” must be in multiples of 5 units.
Play as few or as many lines as you’d like.
As always, this is for fun and entertainment purposes.

    Line #1
Total STRIKEOUTS THROWN by Gerrit Cole in tonight’s game
    Line is 5.5

    Line #2
Total Combined RBI’s by Andrew McCutchen + Pedro Alvarez + Marlon Byrd in tonight’s game
    Line is 3.5

    GOOD LUCK!!!

77 Down, only 5 more to go!!

Anything is possible if a person believes
    Mark 9:23

    KEEP CALM & BREAK .500

  2. Milo Hamilton says:

Unless someone can promise me Brandon Cumpton or Kris Johnson will turn into Marty Bystrom I demand we –

    Free Dan Haren.

  3. Lad9 says:

Will go with 100 ….what else…. Bucks on the over for both lines this evening. I like Cole to be fresh with an extended rest. Thank you Playoffs Go Buccos!

  4. Playoffs by 2012 says:

To quote the immortal John Amos from Coming to America, “If you want to keep working here, stay off the drugs.”

  5. I love that line KEEP CALM AND BREAK .500.

And the two above it are even better.

  6. Milo Hamilton says:

You’re right. John Amos is immortal.

  7. JAL says:

Just hope Cole can spot his fastball because Brewers still have enough firepower to blast poorly placed fastballs

  8. Playoffs by 2012 says:

    Sure seems that way.

  9. Playoffs by 2012 says:

    Thanks Lucky.
I find Mark 9:23 to be very fitting of this season.

  10. JMB says:

    Line #1
Total STRIKEOUTS THROWN by Gerrit Cole in tonight’s game
    Line is 5.5

    100 on OVER

    Line #2
Total Combined RBI’s by Andrew McCutchen + Pedro Alvarez + Marlon Byrd in tonight’s game
    Line is 3.5

    100 on OVER

  11. theplanisworking says:

He was great in Good Times.
Like this season for the Bucs.

Persoanally, I think Dan haren needs to stay off the drugs. ;)
    Then, I will free him……..

  12. theplanisworking says:

    good point.

Even without Mr. Smear The Collector, their lineup is good. Not great, good.

  13. tomp says:

When Marte does return, and he replaces Tabata at the leadoff spot, that is a pretty solid lineup.

Of course , if John Buck , “wally -pipps” Martin, that could open up a whole can of worms.

I realize Martin is the starter, but doesn’t Buck have some experience at 1st base?

Would be nice to acquire the “april” John Buck, with the power that guy could provide.

I would still give Pie the LF lead off duties, especially against a right handed starter.

  14. Dom says:

    #1: 100 ON THE OVER!!!
    #2: 100 ON THE OVER!!!

  15. JohninOshkosh says:

Dejan’s not at the Steelers game ?

  16. Jim S. says:

  17. Nate83 says:

    Line 1 – 50 on the over.

  18. Playoffs by 2012 says:

US Air flies many non-stops to Charlotte.
Perhaps that is why he’s not there.

  19. Jim S. says:

Interesting proposal, Milo. I must admit, I had written off Haren this year. But, he definitely has turned things around. Since July, 57 innings, 43 hits, 11 BB, 0.95 WHIP. ERA in the 2.53 ERA. He has even cut down on his HR, allowing only 6 in that time frame. Outstanding pitching the last 2 months.

But, he was horrendous up until then. 25 HR overall in 139 innings.

I think this would be the rub with the BMTIB – He gives up a lot more flyballs than groundballs. They don’t like that very much.

  20. Nate83 says:

I hope that John Stamos is not immortal. Although he will live forever in Full House re-runs.

  21. Jim S. says:

I would agree with good, guys. But, take a look at how much your park influences HR.

Bucs: 52 HR at home, 74 away
Brewers: 72 HR at home, 61 away

Brewers are a decent HR-hitting team w/o Braun. The Pirates are actually a very good HR team away from PNC.

Our 74 road HR is #2 in the league to Atlanta, who have 74. Brewers are tied for 6th in road HR, with their 61. Incidentally, they are tied with the Reds, who the pundits always seem to think are this powerful team.

  22. Jim S. says:

Sorry, meant we are #2 to Atlanta, who have 77 HR on the road.

  23. Jim S. says:

I don’t see Buck supplanting Gabby as the RH-hitting 1b. But, he is nice veteran insurance and as a 2x per week replacement for Martin.

  24. blazer says:

I’ll take the over for line 1 and the under for line 2 please for 100 each.

  25. Arriba Wilver says:

    You’re still a genius, Playoffs.

  26. Bill Born says:

100 on both lines under please.

  27. Tom P. says:

I realize that this comment is from one Tom P. to another, but does anybody have thoughts on whether the “April John Buck” might return in some form if he is not catching on a regular basis? My thinking is that catchers tend to get worn down with hours of squatting every day. More frequent rest may help him get his legs back under him, so to speak. That’s entirely a guess on my part.

  28. Dom says:

Since it is the most meaningless preseason game, wouldn’t it make more sense for him to be at PNC?

Also, why does the NFL even bother with this last preseason game? I would much rather have the Steelers skip it than to risk injury.

  29. JohninOshkosh says:

The guy got tired of being with Rebecca Romijn. Nuff said.

  30. Milo Hamilton says:

    John Stamos just turned 50.

  31. Dejan’s a Starter!

No starters tonight in Steelers’ game!

  32. Right.

    Fitting for everything.

  33. John Buck had 1 month way up, 4 months way down.

Whad’yu think the odds of April John returning are?

  34. theplanisworking says:

Based on his soccer “skills” be very, very afraid!

  35. JohninOshkosh says:

Just surprised. The Steelers are the kings of Pittsburgh.

  36. Playoffs by 2012 says:

I have years of report cards that state otherwise :)

  37. irishjim says:

I wouldn’t say way down, I mean the guy has 60 RBI which is 3rd best on our team now, by a wide margin.

  38. Milo Hamilton says:

Marte took one handed dry swings in the cage yesterday. What’s next, they turn the sprinkler on ?

  39. Whatever skills he has there do not exist in my worldview. Non-existent!

  40. Jim S. says:

  41. 20 + (25?) of those in April, with 8 Homeruns

  42. Not on the radio airways recently.

  43. Playoffs by 2012 says:

  44. Jim S. says:

I was almost certain you were going to call him Uncle Buck, Groat.

  45. irishjim says:

OK subtract the 20 from April, and the remaining 40 are still in the top 5 on our team.

  46. JRay3 says:

Good afternoon to the window. Great day to win a series and climb back into first place!

    Line 1 – 75 on the UNDER

    Line 2 – 75 on the UNDER

    Thanks and Let’s Go Bucs!

  47. irishjim says:

I’m just saying he is a very solid bench bat, much better than any other option we had. Go Bucs!

  48. Jim S. says:

  49. theplanisworking says:

Dont jinx it. He may get hurt with that!

  50. Jim S. says:

Blasphemy, Groat! Some would want you strung up for even suggesting that.

  51. Arriba Wilver says:

    The point being? :-)

  52. Playoffs by 2012 says:

She violated their prenuptial agreement by turning 31.

  53. Playoffs by 2012 says:

    How old is Steven Stamkos?

  54. JohninOshkosh says:

The NFL owes a few dollars to lawyers, Dom.

  55. Brandie says:

I will go with 100 on the over for both lines, Alex!

  56. Keith says:

OVER on both lines, please. On a roll now.

  57. JD says:

100 on the over for both please.

    Go Bucs!

  58. SlackBoss says:

Despite all the grief he gets here:

In August, Tabata is hitting .309/.373/.485 with seven runs, two home runs, four doubles, and a triple.

Not a lot of other Pirates doing that well.

  59. TK says:

    Line # 1 – 100 on the UNDER
    Line # 2 – 100 on the OVER

  60. Nate83 says:

Shhhhhhh!!!!! Don’t tell anyone that half our first base platoon and right fielder have actually not been the problem the last 40 games.

  61. Brandie says:

He was also Gordy The Weatherman in Mary Tyler Moore. I always felt he got the raw end of that deal…from weatherman to the ghetto!

  62. Arriba Wilver says:

Dom — you’re cruising for a finger wagging in bold.

  63. Brandie says:

And where is Wilona AKA The Rona Barrett of the Projects?

  64. SlackBoss says:

  65. Playoffs by 2012 says:

  66. SkinnyBarryBonds says:

Tabata has had a strong month, but the fact that his “hot month” has produced 2 HRs shows that he cannot hold down a RF spot, especially given that he plays indifferent defense and runs the bases like a 7 year old. I hope he keeps it up while Marte is out, but am excited about the Marte, Cutch, Byrd outfield finishing out the season with Tabata providing good bench depth.

  67. tomp says:

Those are excellent numbers , for a 4th outfielder, which is where he fits best on this team.

Isn’t he due to pay a visit to the DL?. I just don’t trust/count on him to do anything significant , when the chips are on the line.

How many runs has he given up, with his below average defense , while you are picking and choosing stats?.

  68. JohninOshkosh says:

Not getting hastled, not getting hustled.
    Keepin’ your head above water,
Making a wave when you can.

    Temporary lay offs.
    Good Times.
    Easy credit rip offs.
    Good Times.
    Scratchin’ and surviving.
    Good Times.
    Hangin in a chow line
    Good Times.
Ain’t we lucky we got ‘em
    Good Times.

  69. Brandie says:

That is why I like this place. Where else can you go from John Amos to John Stamos to Steven Stamkos in a single thread?

    Good Evening, Loonsters.

  70. SkinnyBarryBonds says:

Eh…not sure that is true. I’d say the problem has been that the pitching has regressed somewhat (or a lot in Locke’s case), the offense has not been able to carry the team (the 1B and RF lack of power being a big part of the problem) and bad luck/not getting it done in close games (lost the last five one-run games, for example).

  71. Brandie says:

And Wilona sang the theme to The Jeffersons.

  72. 21sthebest says:

    He’s very young.

  73. Brandie says:

Let me get my afro together!

  74. SlackBoss says:

I don’t know – perhaps you can provide those stats to support your POV. I am not saying he deserves to start, just saying that he deserves a bit more respect than he seems to be getting here.

  75. JohninOshkosh says:

No foolin. Just got my keyboard out and I can still remember how to play that jam!

Don’t have the pipes to sing it, though.

    You guys kill productivity. :)

  76. Brandie says:

No foolin. The person who played Wilona was on an episode of Sanford and Son playing someone much older. Norman Lear spotted her and thought she would be great as Wilona. Esther Rolle would have been I’m her 50’s. Jan’et DuBois would have been in her early 30’s when cast.

I am a font of useless information. :-)

  77. JohninOshkosh says:

    The incomparable Ja’net Dubois!

  78. Dom says:

    What for?

  79. Arriba Wilver says:

Yep. MTM to Jimmy Walker. Hardly Dy-No-Mite move.

  80. Brandie says:

I will go you one more. Michael Evans was based on one Mike Evans who directed Good Times. You may remember him as the original Lionel from All in the Family and The Jeffersons.

  81. Patrick(ri) says:

I agree that he gets ripped all the time. I suspect most of that is due to exaggerated percetion of slovenly play. I admit seeing him pull up short, or not go all out to first. At some point someone –a coach, the mgr, or a player got to him and told him to quit worrying about his hamstring, or he will be protecting it in Altoona. His effort has be good in recent times, imho. As for his childish baserunning, that hardly stands out on this team.

  82. stickyweb says:

Playoffs, I’ll take 100 on the UNDER for both lines. Thanks.

  83. stickyweb says:

    Those teachers didn’t know nothing

  84. Brandie says:

The name of this blog should be Kiss all Productivity Good Bye. :-)

  85. Arriba Wilver says:

For being a needy Pirates fan. Steeler fans and Penguins fans would not worry about what DK is covering.

  86. Jason81 says:

    Line 1–100 on the UNDER

    Line 2–100 on the OVER

  87. theplanisworking says:

    Man, what to watch tonight.

    Bucs in pennant race.
Steelers game is kinda worthless, but it is the Steelers.
    College football starts!

My remote is going to be busy……..

  88. bizrow says:

100 on over for both lines

    Hey, I didn’t lose yesterday,

Didn’t place a wager though either

    Beat Em Bucs

    Go like 60

    Thanks Playoffs

  89. JohninOshkosh says:

I gotta admit. Pretty cool how South Carolina comes onto the field.

  90. bizrow says:

Still has some time to develop some talent?

  91. JohninOshkosh says:

    Samantha Ponder, y’all.

  92. Milo Hamilton says:

“Just gotta call the ball plays, and see what happens.”

  93. JohninOshkosh says:

    Love him.

  94. theplanisworking says:

They play Ric Flair’s music for their intro.
Wonder if there are Woooos ?

I would Woo for Samantha Ponder. ;)

  95. Milo Hamilton says:

Me too. What a character. On the top of his headset are three letters – HBC. Head Ball Coach.

  96. cosmo says:

100 on the over for both lines

  97. Baywatch says:

As much as we were happy, by and large, to get these two, it sure does seem like starting a new season all over again to see them in there, doesn’t it? Hope it’s a real good start – as in let’s win this Central going away!

  98. Arriba Wilver says:

  99. theplanisworking says:

    Mr Playoffs….

    I would like the following…….

Line 1 — 100 Humble Hippos on the UNDER.
Line 2 — 100 Byrdman Hippos on the OVER.

    Thanks a bunch.
    Good Times!

  100. JD says:

Are you a big Rick Flair fan? I notice you mention him a lot. I was more of a Jimmy Superfly Snuka fan.

  101. JD says:

Are you a big Rick Flair fan? I notice you mention him a lot. I was more of a Jimmy Superfly Snuka fan.

  102. pattonbb says:

Best Spurrier jabs of all time –

    1. FSU – Free Shoes University
2.Tennessee – “You can’t spell Citrus without UT”
3.Peyton Manning – “I know why he came back for his senior year, he wants to be a 3 time Citrus Bowl MVP”
    4. On an Auburn bookstore fire – “The real tragedy is 15 of them hadn’t been colored yet”.

Of course down here in the heart of the SEC, haters of the Old Ball Coach like to ask “You know why Spurrier wears that visor, don’t ya? To hide his circumcision scar.”

  103. theplanisworking says:

I just know the music and Wooos.

I have met many wrestlers in my life, but not a big fan of the “sport”.

  104. John Lease says:

    I love you man

  105. John Lease says:

I’m seeing too much Sanchez. Put Jones in there, please. I realize Clint loves Gabby, but I’d rather have Jones in there at PNC.

  106. theplanisworking says:

  107. theplanisworking says:

Let us not forget his total humbling and humiliation in the Pros, both as a QB, and coach……………

  108. Bob Hasis says:

Yes and don’t forget Mars and Franklin Regional high school football at some point in this evenings schedule.

    Straighten him out Milo

  109. pattonbb says:

He let his ego get in the way. Like some other great college coaches have.

  110. Baywatch says:

“Yes, we goin’ to a pahty, pahty!”

  111. Bob Hasis says:

With all of this stuff about Amos, Stamos and Stamkos, can’t we please just talk about Barmes – once in a while.

  112. Baywatch says:

Probably some statistic he has showing Gaby Eats Up Gallardo … I know, sounds like one of those cheesy 1950s Sci-Fi movies.

  113. Bob Hasis says:

Oops sorry Plan, it appears that game is on Friday. I received some bad info.

Boy there is a lot of that going around; I hope it’s not an a contagious epidemic

  114. irishjim says:

since he’s starting tonight behind the plate….

  115. Steelag70 says:

  116. JRay3 says:

Gaby is 7-22, .318 lifetime versus Gallardo, seems like the appropriate play, even more so when considering Jones is 7 for his last 59.

  117. irishjim says:

    let’s go…..Bucks?

  118. War Horse says:

100 on the UNDER for both lines, please.

  119. bman says:

Line 1: 50 on the UNDER
Line 2: 50 on the UNDER

  120. Eric Bowser says:

    Buck and Byrd
    Buck and Byrd
    Buck and Byrd
    Buck and Byrd
    Buck and Byrd

  121. Jandy says:

Playoffs, sir, please may I have
100 units on the under for line 1
and 100 units on the over for line 2

    beat ‘em bucs!!

Doin hubby’s bookwork and back later on!

  122. Thundercrack says:

Have you seen Jones at the plate during the last few weeks?

And have you seen Gabby at the plate the past week or so?

This has nothing to do with who Clint loves.

  123. Irish says:

100 On Over for Line 1
50 on Over for Line 2

  124. Milo Hamilton says:

Yeah, that one’s tomorrow. Greater Allegheny – that’s my league.

  125. Milo Hamilton says:

Good defensive teams turn the double plays they are supposed to. This team routinely does not. And it costs them here.

  126. John Lease says:

I’ve just seen Gabby on a pick off throw to first. Jones can do that.

  127. John Lease says:

Well, turning the double play didn’t cost them. That pickoff sure did though.

  128. Eric Bowser says:

Pedro’s defense over the last month has been bad.

  129. JRay3 says:

That and the horrible throw by Cole on pick off that moved Segura to third. Way inning played out if the E 1 does not occur he gets out of inning unscathed as well.

  130. Milo Hamilton says:

Yes it did. There would have been no pickoff throw had they turned it.

  131. John Lease says:

Ooh, Tabata takes a ball outside.

    That’s one!

  132. Milo Hamilton says:

    With a DP there’s nobody on 1st.

  133. John Lease says:

They were just waiting for Aramis. He’s slow enough.

  134. John Lease says:

I hate the Brewers, their announcers, and Lucroy. And yes, I’m doubling up on Lucroy.

  135. John Lease says:

Can the Pirates at LEAST get 10 pitches out of Gallardo in the inning?

  136. John Lease says:

    McCutchen keeps me sane.

  137. Eric Bowser says:

And that’s WHY you run hard from box…. should have been an inside the park HR.

  138. pattonbb says:

Apologies if this has already been mentioned but the game is’s free game of the day on their site.

  139. John Lease says:

C’mon Pedro. don’t expand the zone, you have an actual hitter behind you.

  140. irishjim says:

  141. theplanisworking says:

If he would have gotten out of the box like Harrison does, it would have been great.

  142. John Lease says:

+Infinity. It bugs the crap out of me that he waits and turns it on. GO already.

  143. Milo Hamilton says:

The way he came out of the box is why he only has 4 triples. Little things will mean a lot in October. that was a bad inning, top & bottom.

  144. John Lease says:

Time to go to bed and pull the covers over my head. My heart can’t take this.

  145. Milo Hamilton says:

I want to say this before we get too far along. I don’t know how you can keep screwing with a pitcher’s schedule between starts and expect him to be sharp with his control.

  146. pattonbb says:

When does Cole become that top of the rotation stud we were told about?

  147. Eric Bowser says:

    Yeah, doesn’t look crisp.

  148. Parrothead01 says:

Looks like Cole has caught Locke Disease. Can’t throw strikes and whe he does the pitch is fat.

  149. Jason81 says:

When he signs with the Yankees.

  150. Patrick(ri) says:

If the Brewers get a little pitching help, they will be scary next season. Very strong up the middle, both offensivly and defensively. Infielders are already superior to our guys. If Braun can playbw/o roids and Aramis has a year left in the tank . . .

  151. Eddie says:

Milo I feel like the last week there’s been at least 2 times a game they’ve had a chance to get 2 and haven’t. Pedro’s turn to 2nd looks awfully slow.

  152. Milo Hamilton says:

They lost the game before the 1st Cardinals series to stinky Miami. They lost the game before the next Cardinals series to stinky Colorado. Lessons learned ?

  153. Parrothead01 says:

Why do they continuosly pull outside pitches.

  154. Parrothead01 says:

Well the Mets are hitting well tonight. Sure do hope some of the Pirates join them.

  155. Playoffs by 2012 says:

Did the sticker make it out to you yet?

  156. Parrothead01 says:

Maybe Cole can learn something from that at bat. 3 of the 4 four pitches Gallardo threw him were off speed and made him look foolish. That is the answer to Pattons question. Cole becomes an elite pitcher when he develops his off speed pitches. I like the 87 mph cutter he threw followed by a 97 mph fastball. Not enough of that at this point in his development.

  157. Thundercrack says:

I hear what you’re saying Milo but he may worse if they didn’t alter his schedule.

I just think he is polished enough yet either

  158. pattonbb says:

Wow. This place is dead tonight. Thought for sure I’d get somebody to bite on this post.

  159. Eddie says:

This is gonna be one of those games where you check the box score and Bucs have 10 hits without a run because they’ll scatter singles all night and won’t do anything with RISP.

  160. Milo Hamilton says:

Maybe everyone else will show up if the Pirates decide to.

  161. Thundercrack says:

I think Cole would learn with a few more starts in the minors

But they need him up here

  162. irishjim says:

Who wants to be the 4th starter in the postseason rotation? Apparently nobody.

  163. theplanisworking says:

I want one of those Parrot hats.

  164. Brandie says:

Perhaps it is the Sunday starter, a guy with the initials TDB (To Be Determined). Or, perhaps JHAY!

  165. irishjim says:

I’m listening to the radio feed tonight with Bob Uecker. Better than anything the Pirates have.

  166. Bucs better realize now that the way they are not getting to Gallardo, that they will likely not get to the pen any time soon, so they need to start hitting Gallardo and score some runs. 3-0 at this point might as well be 8-0. Opportunity may be lost to tie the Cards before the series coming up. Now they will have to win the series to at least tie them up again. If they sweep they will be 1 game in first – barring any dramatics tonight. 3-0 is not insurmountable, but at this rate they are not doing anything.

  167. Jandy says:

JHay, he of many talents :)

  168. theplanisworking says:

Get your Nun powers working for our team.
They be a-stinkin up da joint.

    And, I want a Parrot hat……

  169. Jandy says:

    He’s a gigolo now????

  170. Brandie says:

Well, if it isn’t TGI McNunster!

  171. Jandy says:

    JHay would have!

  172. Jandy says:

LOL! I dunno if that is an insult or a cool nickname ;)

  173. Brandie says:

Nun powers? Is this now “I Dream of Jandy”?

  174. Welcome to PNC Park, Marlon. Left field is hard to hit it out in this place.

  175. Jandy says:

Lots of work to do for hubby tonight…but we’ve been following the game and I’m frustrated and ready to get my size 9 wides out grrrr!!

  176. Brandie says:

It’s the result of a botched lobotomy.

  177. Brandie says:

Then get to stompin’. I’ll kneecap em’.

  178. Jandy says:

    Now *THAT* sounds kinky…

Hipposter, tell TC or Eric to get you a hat next time they are at PNC Park ;)

  179. Brandie says:

    Cue 70’s naughty music.

  180. Jandy says:

    ahhhh…logic eh?

    not allowed here.

    I can’t believe they’re losing 3-0 sheesh

  181. theplanisworking says:

Just remember, I dont have bail money for you two.

    I only do APB’s………… ;)

  182. irishjim says:

Although I must admit I was disappointed when he didn’t use any of his lines from ‘Major League’ :)

  183. Jandy says:

who needs bail money? We’ll just sweet talk ‘em ;)

  184. Brandie says:

Must be careful. I don’t wanna go to blog jail!

  185. Tom P. says:

Cole’s line is 7 IP and 3 runs on 82 pitches. That is pretty efficient.

  186. Jandy says:

we’ll get BOLD FACED reaming !!

  187. irishjim says:

    Let’s go Bucks!

  188. theplanisworking says:

At least I havent had to endure this game in its entirety.

Watched some of the Steeler game.
    Saw some college football.
Briefly checked in on 3 other Pro football games I can get in my area.
And, saw a program on Wilt Chamberlain’s 100 point game.

My remote is smoking, but it was good for my Pirate nerves…………….

  189. irishjim says:

These Mets guys are pretty good…

  190. Jandy says:

How many $%$#@^* double plays have we hit into tonight???

  191. Milo Hamilton says:

  192. Jandy says:

My nerves are fine, my DANDER isn’t!!!

  193. Steelag70 says:

Leave it to the freakin Brewers to be spoilers for us…

  194. Jandy says:

  195. Brandie says:

DO NOT MAKE THE NUN REMOVE HER HABIT!!!! When that happens, it’s on like Donkey Kong!

  196. Jandy says:

    We are our OWN spoilers.

  197. This offense is still horrendous. Gallardo ALWAYS has their number no matter who is on the team. I wish that would start to change. Doesn’t help that Dan I-“don’t-know-what-the-strike-zone-is”-asonia is behind the plate and making people swing at crap that is not even in the strike zone in order to not get caught looking. All we need is three. WAKE UP OFFENSE!!!!

  198. Jandy says:

    everybody run for their lives!!!!

  199. theplanisworking says:

I really hope the Bucs make a comeback tonight.
If they dont, this will mean they are 5-5 in their last 10 games…………. against 3 bottom-feeder teams in the NL. That is simply not the way to make any noise in the playoffs.

Quite odd how this team is not getting it done against the bad teams.

  200. Steelag70 says:

At least Gallardo is out of the game…

  201. irishjim says:

    you said it

  202. Jandy says:

    Nice play by Petey

  203. Jandy says:

I’ts almost like they’re the Penguins, who “ease up” against the teams they perceive to be lesser opponents. Agitates me.

  204. theplanisworking says:

    Oooh, Ooooh, Ooooh…………………

    FIRE BYLSMA !!!!!!!!! ;)

  205. Jandy says:

    Yeah, Eric, FIRE BYLSMA!!!

  206. irishjim says:

did they go out on the town and party last night or what?

  207. Steelag70 says:

This offense has now decided not to score runs for two starters: Burnett and Cole…

  208. Milo Hamilton says:

So, they started thinking about tomorrow right around when they recorded the 3rd out last night ?

  209. Jandy says:

    or what…

  210. Can we say thinking ahead to the next series? They better get their heads out of their keesters and come out and play the next three days or they are going to find themselves in a world of hurt.

  211. theplanisworking says:

I wouldnt accuse this team of thinking, Milo.

  212. Jandy says:

    eh…I realize they can’t score 7 runs every game…but c’mon…

  213. Jandy says:

I just wanna say, Playoffs, your lines are EVIL ;)

  214. Milo Hamilton says:

    Awesome. :)

  215. irishjim says:

    that sounds about right

  216. Steelag70 says:

This team will have a very short stay in the postseason playing like this…

  217. Arriba Wilver says:

Love that movie, and that is one of my favorite scenes, but this is what we need right now.

  218. Jandy says:

well, just as I say they “play down” to their opponent, I also think they will “ramp it up” with St. Louis and the hated reds.

  219. Steelag70 says:

I hope so Jandy but the Cards are on a roll…

  220. Steelag70 says:

Don’t look now but, the Nats are on a roll and making up ground…

  221. Jandy says:

I’m gonna keep the faith :)

  222. Steelag70 says:

Why are we pitching to Ramirez???

  223. I knew Morris was going to let a run score there. Too many times recently. 4-0 and I’m out now. Come with your A game this weekend, Bucs!

  224. Milo Hamilton says:

If they lose this one, they will have dropped all three games leading into the three most recent Cardinals series. To the Marlins, Rockies & Brewers, combined winning % – .427.

  225. Steelag70 says:

Six outs left offense….FREAKING do something!!!

  226. theplanisworking says:

    You HAVE to.
    Just sayin…………

  227. Jandy says:

    Verrryyy impressive ;)

  228. Jandy says:

    We ALL do ….

  229. Brandie says:

    What? Where? Why?

  230. Cmat0829 says:

Wake me when they are more than 5 games over .500

  231. Milo Hamilton says:

Apparently they feel by making outs quickly tomorrow will get here faster.

  232. Steelag70 says:

    How pathetic…

  233. theplanisworking says:

    Not Me.
My job is to defend the Pond.
And put out the fire on my remote………. ;)

  234. Steelag70 says:

With this loss the Buccos will be 26-26 since July 1…not playoff baseball…

  235. Lad9 says:

Don’t throw the remote in the pond. I may throw mine at the TV though. The Pirates look flatter than a Hippo’s beanbag chair!

  236. Steelag70 says:

The Brewers look like the team fighting for a pennant in this series…

  237. theplanisworking says:

    That is a good one.

Cant win them all, but they dont have to look so bad losing…..

  238. 21sthebest says:

Uh oh. Overhead of the fountain.

  239. theplanisworking says:

    Hey, Mr. Cawterrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr…….

  240. Thundercrack says:

Can someone get a message to Nevrett:

There is absolutely no reason to talk about the design on Buck’s mask for as long as he has.

    Who cares!? !

  241. Steelag70 says:

When you are being shut out I guess you have to find SOMETHING positive to talk about…

  242. Jandy says:

    Hey Rad One :)

  243. theplanisworking says:

I want Brown and Neverrette to speak at my funeral.

The way they describe a walk as a game-winning HR, they can make my funeral sound like America’s Best Dance Party.

  244. Brandie says:

Why, its the Jandimal, Disco Hippo, and Lad Daddio!

  245. Lad9 says:

Pedro you are supposed to wait for a pitch you can drive, not pick one off of your shoe tops! Geez!

  246. florida steeler says:

If Pedro does not get more consistent with his hitting–this will be a short post season.

  247. theplanisworking says:

    Well, thats baseball.

    Everybody have a great night.
Everybody hope for the best tomorrow.

  248. Steelag70 says:

  249. Steelag70 says:

But you can’t keep playing like this overall and especially against teams you should beat. It will cost you in the long run.

  250. Milo Hamilton says:

We all could have just watched the 1st inning & saved ourselves the frustration. The lack of focus was on display right from the get go. A double play was not turned in the top of the inning that led to a Milwaukee run. And lack of hustle by Andrew McCutchen in the bottom half cost the Pirates a run. What should have been a 1-0 Pirate lead was a 1-0 Milwaukee lead. And all downhill from there.

  251. Jandy says:

    good night Crue!

  252. Brandie says:

They would turn your funeral into the church scene from The Blues Brothers, complete with Stevie Wonder (because you can’t get James Brown), some awesome soul singers and kick a$$ dancers!

  253. Steelag70 says:

If this entire team doesn’t start playing better it will be a short postseason…

  254. theplanisworking says:

This is why we love you.

  255. Steelag70 says:

It is very disturbing when Cutch begins to not hustle…

  256. Steelag70 says:

Cole didn’t have his best stuff his last two starts but to receive only 1 run combined from your offense??? Really????

  257. KenKopp says:

Have any of you played baseball? You can be so much better than the other team and still get your butt kicked, How many balls did we hit tonight that were shots and ten feet either way we got a whole different ballgame.

Bring on the Cards. We are primed and ready.

    Go Bucs!

    Or go Uncle Buck!

  258. Steelag70 says:

Ken, yes I have. Once or twice is one thing….but to be consistently outplayed by lessor teams in a pennant race is concerning…lack of focus…

  259. KenKopp says:

Where is the lack of focus? I look in their eyes and see them all in to every situation. I’m going to ask DK in the chat tomorrow what the locker room is like. It is a tough game, and just because the Brewers have a bad record this year, they are still major leaguers.

  260. bizrow says:

    One Games Behind

    Still August

Bitchin at Cutch not hustling? He’s lead this club for 6-7 weeks

Cut me a break, at least act like you have been here before

Many miles to go before we sleep

I’m all in, see you folks tomorrow when the chips are pushed in

    60 Bucs = never say die ;-)

  261. KenKopp says:

By the way I really liked Uncle Buck’s debut. Whoever put that video up earlier from the movie “Whats your record” Might just go rent that movie and chill out and get ready for the Cards.20 games over .500. We suck. :.)

  262. KenKopp says:

Yes, thank you. Cutch not hustling. Give me a break.

  263. WVStarship says:

    There will be no postseason.

I mean, there will be no postseason with the Pirates in it.

Unless the Syrians and Iranians nuke us to death after we start WW III–then there will be no postseason.

  264. Milo Hamilton says:

So you’re saying that he did hustle coming out of the box on that hit in the 1st inning ?

  265. WVStarship says:

    They’re .500 since July 1. That’s a better measure of where this team is–and where they’re going.

  266. bizrow says:

I’m saying cut Cutch a break

No worry about that fellows character, honor or integrity

    And cut me a break

Milo, this is the very first time, IMO, your post was out to lunch

    We lost 4-0

Don’t diss the glue to our club, nor diss a guy that is busting is arse.

  267. bizrow says:

  268. Reading says:

Disappointing going through the motions performance with first place at stake.

  269. WVStarship says:

Milo, Don’t you know that you can’t trust your own eyes to see what was right there on the screen? You have to come to the board to have people tell you that it REALLY DIDN’T HAPPEN!

And you know what else? The Bucs scored 10 runs tonight and won going away! It’s true because WE TELL YOU WHAT TO BELIEVE!

    Give me a break indeed!

  270. KenKopp says:

Reading never played ball or forgot. Baseball is a funky game. Sometimes you do everything right and it turns out wrong. Cutch hit the ball on the screws a few times tonight. Tomorrow he will hit a blop for a double.and ya’ll will say he’s MVP. Going through the motions. Give me a break. Oops no break. The Cards are checking into their hotel.

    Lets Go Bus!

  271. Baywatch says:

  272. Milo Hamilton says:

That’s all I was asking. Hang in there Biz.

  273. Baywatch says:

They way overplayed that overhead tonight, didn’t they? Used it like it was a NEW TOY or something! Made the wife downright dizzy a couple times. That one was just awful, just looking down on the infielders from THE MOON! The only one that was halfway interesting was the BRIEF one where it showed Wilson running in from the pen! And Blass has just gotten downright BORING! Hello! Color men aren’t supposed to be boring!

  274. Reading says:

Ken, they lost. No bad breaks. They didn’t get the job done. Disappointing malaise game. Glad you’re okay with that.

  275. John Lease says:

I did. Good thing I went to bed.
