    Beat Em Bucs

    We’re going like 60

  2. Playoffs by 2012 says:

This probably the eaiset line I’ve done all year. Smoetimes the lines literally write themselves. TONIGHT is one of those nights.

Makes my job a helluva lot easier when I don’t have to hunt to find everyone’s “wagers”

Max “wager” is 100 units on any single line.
All “wagers” must be in multiples of 5 units.
Play as few or as many lines as you’d like.
As always, this is for fun and entertainment purposes.

    Tonight’s Pick ‘Em Line
What Will the Pirates Do in tonight’s game

    GOOD LUCK!!!

81 Down, only 1 more to go!!

Anything is possible if a person believes
    Mark 9:23

    KEEP CALM & BREAK .500

  3. Nate83 says:

Bizrow I now live in the unlisted city of Northwood Ohio. I moved there recently. Thanks for keeping the list. It looks like we need a few people to volunteer to move to a few states to complete all 50.

  4. Jim S. says:

Love the list, Biz. One small typo to point out. Philippines has one L and 2 P’s.

  5. Nate83 says:

What, lose double odds? Wow you are really testing peoples loyalty against their greed. Especially on the possible 82nd win game.

I will take 100 on the win. Thanks.

  6. PirateFaninGA says:

Not to question Hurdle, but I was hoping to see Martin tonight (for defensive purposes, not his bat which has been ice cold lately).

He was off Sunday, day game Monday, night games Tue and Wed, and an off day tomorrow. I understand keeping him fresh, but 5 days a week I don’t think is asking too much when you’re in the stretch drive.

I did think they might go with Sanchez (if Martin off) though tonight since all the talk of him being Liriano’s catcher. I hope Buck can handle Liriano’s slider.

  7. Tom P. says:

That really looks like a major league lineup. To piggyback Jandy’s comment from this morning, I wonder who will step up and be the hero tonight?

On another note, Alex Presley hit a three run homer this afternoon. (OK, so he hit it off of Eric Bedard). Anyway, it’s nice to see Alex have some success even though he did not fit into the Pirates long-term plans.

  8. Bill Born says:

    Sorry to say-
100 units on the loss line please.
    Thank you

  9. cmat0829 says:

    100 win. thanks.

  10. Jim S. says:

I see me jumping in next year, Biz. But, I don’t really know how it works.

  11. NMR says:

Let’s hope Clint can find Grilli a nice comfortable spot to enter the game.

It would be nice to actually have the best pitchers available to enter the games against St Louis when needed.

  12. Bob W. says:

Brewers are fielding a semi-scrub line-up tonight, although SP Wily Peralta can be tough on some nights. SS Jean Segura is reportedly sick, so back-up IF Jeff Bianchi is starting. Third-string IF Yuni Betancourt is playing 2B. CF Carlos Gomez hit under the Mendoza Line in August. Good luck to the Bucs; they deserve the sweep.

  13. Playoffs by 2012 says:

    It’s real simple.
For tonight, pick whether you think the Bucs will win or lose, and make a corresponding “wager”.

It’s all for fun and entertainment, so nothing to lose.

  14. Fish says:

I will take 100 cecil espy bobbleheads on the win please and thank you!!!!!!!!

  15. tomp says:

With that HR last night, did Snider vault ahead of Jones for the 5th OF, when the team reaches the playoffs?.

It would be crazy, but i can see GI being left off the post season roster all together.

Marte, Tabata, Cutch, Byrd, Snider for OF
Alvarez, Harrison , Barmes, Mercer, Walker, Sanchez, and Morneau for the IF
Buck and Martin as the Catchers.

That is 14 postion players, which i believe would be the most the team would carry
Maybe they would try to eek out 1 more spot, so that would be between Jones, Pie, and Lambo, or even Tony Sanchez.
a 10 man pitching staff may be a risky propostion.
It should be an interesting roster Clint and the gang put together.

  16. tomp says:

    proposition, i meant to say.

  17. tomp says:

The Pirates mantra tonight should be “hit it their”!.

This brewers infield tonight, hands down, is one of the worst group defensively, as any team has put out there this season.

Only Ramirez is average, but he has the knack for taking some plays off.

  18. bizrow says:

    Thanks, that makes 397

  19. bizrow says:

Thanks, couldn’t figure that one out

  20. bizrow says:

How can I not go with 100 nukes for the big W??

    Thanks Playoffs

  21. Jim K says:

    Vienna VA

  22. JRay3 says:

Good afternoon to the window on this Wednesday sweep day. Something tells me I am going to miss witnessing history by one game but that is ok!

    100 on the WIN

    Thanks and Go Bucs!

  23. Reading says:

How about 21-0 tonight? Just because.

  24. pattonbb says:

I know somebody that lurks in here from Alabama. If I can get him to chime in, that will take one of the missing states off of the list.

  25. I DO believe Pirates will end up with an 11-man pitching staff for the Playoffs. No need for a 5th starter. Hurdle too afraid of extra innings to go with only 10 pitchers.

I DO NOT believe that Snider will make the roster before Garrett Jones. One HR should never move Travis ahead of Jones. Jones homered just a few days ago against playoff-bound St. Louis. Look at the Line-drive percentages: Jones is just a better hitter, period, and his dry spell seems over.

I DO think the last bench spot may be between Travis Snider and Josh Harrison. Which one adds the most in the next 3 weeks.

  26. pattonbb says:

    100 on just WIN baby!!

  27. National Mart of Records,

I don’t know if you have been on vacation or what, but good to have you back for big night!!!

Yes to Grilli! Try him against the Drunks.

  28. Irish says:

Tempting, but… 100 on the Win!
Winning in the late innings feels like ’60…
    Let’s Go Bucs!
    Thanks, Playoffs…

  29. I’d rest Martin until AJ Burnett’s next start!! He’s toast!

  30. pattonbb says:

DK just retweeted a picture of new Steelers punter Zoltan Mesko flashing the…..yep, you guessed it….the all powerful and overplayed, ZOLTAN symbol.

It’s actually pretty cool. Zoltan showing the Zoltan.

  31. kr70 says:

100 on the win and thanks

  32. I 100 % agree with Dejan that the cursed Streak ends tonight with Win #82.

I also confess that last night after the last out was made and Banny hugged Hurdle instead of just shaking his hand, and then later when Hurdle hugged McCutch instead of just shaking his hand . . . . . I got choked up! Twice!! For a significant amount of time!!!

That’s why I could never be a columnist who just reports and never gets emotionally involved like Dejan. (Methinks the “little boy” in Dejan also will be choked up tonight, even if he closes his fists and says emphatically, “I just have something in my eye!”)

DK: Not going to lie. Tonight will be a challenge. Said so on radio show today.

  33. Brandie says:

Thank you for including my place. Philipsburg is spelled with 1 L though. Thank you for keeping track of the family.

  34. theplanisworking says:

This list is becoming the stuff of legend!

  35. Brandie says:

I will take 100 Mondesi Dollars on the win. Thank you!

  36. theplanisworking says:

100 Helium-filled celebratory Hippos on the OVER !

  37. We have a better lineup than them.

We have a better starting pitcher and pen than them.

No more perceived or created monkey on their backs. They can play like school kids and win the division now and enjoy it.

  38. Dadtackular says:

    100 Lira on the win

  39. theplanisworking says:

They can play like school kids now, complete with punching the bully in the mouth.

21-0 would be a great score tonight. Just sayin’.

  40. Suits me, Hippolito.

  41. tomp says:

I would like nothing better, than for the Pirates to be up around 4 or 5 runs entering the ninth, and bringing Grilli in to finish it off.!

If that happens, i would guarantee the victory line would last a good 5 minutes.

Put that, on the cover of SI.
Better yet, don’t bother, take the cameras somewhere else.

  42. theplanisworking says:

I just hope they dont get so caught up in the “82” tonight, that they dont focus and play well. Looking forward to this………. then the streak will “officially” dead.

Then, onward to bigger and better things.

  43. They say they have no thought for it. I doubt if some like Lirano, Morneau, Byrd, Martin and others really do.

Guys like Walker, Morton, Cutch and even Pedro can’t help but think about it once and a while, especially when everyone in Pgh. knows about it and talks about it.

  44. Arriba Wilver says:

I agree he looks like he needs a rest. And we need him for the POSTSEASON.

  45. Arriba Wilver says:

100 Playoff seats for the WIN. (No pun intended)

  46. Brandie says:

    Full of anticipation and emotion.

  47. theplanisworking says:

………… among other things, eh Brandimal???? ;)

  48. blazer says:

    100 on the WIN please!!

  49. Joey_Pittsburgh says:

I haven’t been this excited for a ballgame in a long time.
I hope they make it a laugher early and often so this can be a celebration instead of a nail biter.
I hope Grilli gets to see some time tonight.

There was a time, not that long ago, that 82 seemed like it might not happen for years. I honestly thought we’d be trotting out Cutch and AAAA players until he was dealt to the Yankees for some ‘can’t miss’ prospects in 2017 or whenever.

The funny thing is I’m excited for tonight, but I’m more excited anticipating an aerial shot coming down the Allegheny, over the three most beautiful bridges in the world, circling around PNC Park as we’re welcomed back to playoff baseball in the Burgh.

  50. Karen22 says:

100 exclamation points on the WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  51. Karen22 says:

    Best is Vin Mazzaro. ;)

  52. theplanisworking says:

    Just for you, Karen…… ;)

  53. Arriba Wilver says:

I hope it’s 2-0 in the 9th, but we win.

  54. Karen22 says:

  55. radio wave says:

Playoffs: I will take 100 on the win tonight.

  56. Brandie says:

    Heig Ho Wilver!!!!!!!!!

  57. Karen22 says:

You’ve just crossed the line with me, Mr. Plan!!

  58. Brandie says:

Good to see you. Have a great game! 82 and beyond.

  59. Arriba Wilver says:

Playoffs—I think Bill should be disqualified from the contest. :-D

  60. Barb says:

Winning tonight will be like getting the 500 lb gorilla off of our backs and not just his cousin the monkey. Let us all hold onto our Jolly Rogers as we close out our 82nd win and join in with Greg Brown as he tells us to……”Raise the Jolly Roger”.

  61. theplanisworking says:

I take it you like the #82?

  62. Brandie says:

This team is special for many reasons to many people. After so many broken promises and lies, it’s nice to see promise and not premise being fulfilled.

My take away is simple…The Pirates have shown that we don’t have to accept mediocrity from each other or from ourselves. Let #82 be for the ones that have been laid low, counted out, and left behind only to fool everyone and fulfill their individual promise and destinies!

    (Climbing down off of soapbox.)

  63. Barb says:

Did you hear that Morneau changed his number to “66” in honor of his friend, Le Magnifique” and because he couldn’t get 33 because it has been retired (Honus Wagner). :)

  64. theplanisworking says:

  65. Brandie says:

You asked for it, Temptress 22!

  66. Brandie says:

What a tasty nugget oh Bodacious one!

  67. theplanisworking says:

    + many.

Good thing I am tall……… no soapbox needed.

82 is the result of management doing what they shouls always do, players doing what they should always do, and it all coming together. Too many times in the past 20 years, both management, and players didnt do what was neede to be done.

Enough of that. Lets get a W, so all this “82” stuff will be over, and we can concentrate on bigger and better things.

    * Moves away from soapbox *.

  68. Barb says:

Thanks Brandilicious. Bob Pompeani reported that choice nugget.

  69. theplanisworking says:

Did he wear pants this time?

  70. BDHumbert says:

I am loyal – and want to get more distance from Reds – Cards so 100 on the over…

My heart wins out over my brain…

  71. Barb says:

Oh my ….well I didn’t get that close.

  72. Nor Cal Stlrfanrtc (Ryan) says:

    100 on win.

  73. Brandie says:

I hope so as that is not an image I’d care to see.

  74. theplanisworking says:

Do you remember the incident I am talking about?

  75. I’ll have to add that “São Paulo” has a tilde over the first a, but that will be only to make Bizrow’s job with the list more interesting! hahahahahahahaha (James Bond’s villain laugh)

  76. Barb says:

    I may go blind.

  77. Brandie says:

Well Played Big Al! Well Played Indeed!

  78. 100 reais on the 82nd WIN!

  79. Barb says:

    Obviously not! Enlighten please.

  80. Nor Cal Stlrfanrtc (Ryan) says:

This is a powerful lineup tonight. I like it. I like the pressure of the #4 hitter on Morneau instead of Pedro.

What I noticed about JM last night that he is truly a professional hitter. Great eye and smooth stroke.

Have the Pirates had such a professional hitter as JM? All respect to Cutch, he still chases badly at times.

  81. Nor Cal Stlrfanrtc (Ryan) says:

It was also mentioned last night, i believe. Or the night before, they all get scrambled together.

  82. theplanisworking says:

Back in the 80’s, when Pompeani was first starting out at KDKA, he was golfing. Somehow, he was needed to do the sports that day. He didnt have time to get home and change, and he did the sports……. in a coat and tie. No problem, right? Bill Burns, (God rest His soul) made Pompeani stand up.

He was wearing his golf shorts!!!

I thought poor Bill was going to laugh himself to death that day.

  83. Barb says:

HAHAHAHA! Bill Burns would do that.

  84. Nor Cal Stlrfanrtc (Ryan) says:

I’m sure this has been mentioned, but all kudos must be sent to NH. For how strongly we all felt in the past about him and his approach. (I always said I liked the approach, just not the execution).

He deserves all the credit in the world for this season.

He should easily be named Exec or GM of the year. Clint Hurdle manager of the year, perhaps Cutch is MVP.

Truly a remarkable season. Let’s get that pennant!!

  85. Barb says:

I’m sure Ryan. Everything is a rehash with the 24/7 news cycle.

  86. Karen22 says:

    Just for today.

    To infinity and beyond!

  87. 21sthebest says:

He wore 33 to honor Patrick Roy.

  88. JaxBuc says:

Please sir, may I have 100 francs on the WIN?

  89. Nor Cal Stlrfanrtc (Ryan) says:

    I meant during the game.

  90. theplanisworking says:

As of last year, I was in favor if his execution !!!!!!! ;)

Executive of the Year will be between neal, and the GM of the Red Sox. That man has the team in first place, after trading all his superstars last year, losing 2 or 3 closers, and getting the team in first place from an AL East worst 65 wins.

Being ESPN will be behind the Sox GM, it will be interesting to see how the vote shakes out.

Go neal! We are all your boys !!!! ;)

  91. Karen22 says:

    Ouch! Was I that obvious?

  92. theplanisworking says:

  93. The Gunner says:

100 on the win, of course.

Let’s all get our brooms and Green Weenies out and strap it on these lousy Brewers!!

  94. Nor Cal Stlrfanrtc (Ryan) says:

I do believe there is a NL and an AL winner, could be wrong on that one though. Should be, there is for every other category.

  95. theplanisworking says:

  96. Karen22 says:

The ONLY way the Pirates don’t break the streak tonight: Sports Illustrated.

  97. Nor Cal Stlrfanrtc (Ryan) says:

BTW, ESPN doesn’t do any of the voting. Usually done by those in the game.

  98. Barb says:

    Oops sorry about that.

  99. Karen22 says:

    Dear Lord…he’s stalking me!

  100. JaxBuc says:

Wow, I just listened to the opening of DK’s radio show from this afternoon. I didn’t think my email suggesting Barry Bonds was to blame would get on the air, let alone be the first one read. I guess I just had my 15 seconds of fame. And on the day that we just might get 82. Wow.

  101. Nor Cal Stlrfanrtc (Ryan) says:

    Those Canadians are silly.

Though 66 on a Pirate would be sweet.

  102. Barb says:

I was thinking the same thing Karen but didn’t want to say it. Look what happened to Grilled Cheese.

  103. theplanisworking says:

    Oh, I know.

But ESPN is the biggest propaganda arm of the Yanks and Sox.
    Sad, but true.

I hope there is an AL and NL winner.
    Would almost guarantee neal wins.

  104. Nor Cal Stlrfanrtc (Ryan) says:

No worries. Tim Neverett of all people mentioning it.

  105. theplanisworking says:

At least you didnt get a bold reaming like I did today, LOL.

  106. Nor Cal Stlrfanrtc (Ryan) says:

Didn’t ESPN just do a thing on Cutch??

  107. theplanisworking says:

    Just watched PTI.
Segment came up about which was the better story…….. Dodgers going 36-8 since All-Star break, or the Pirates ending the streak.

Wilbon said Dodgers, not even close.
Kornheiser said Pirates, not even close.

    Just interesting.

  108. Nor Cal Stlrfanrtc (Ryan) says:

But those are the best!!! Was that in this mornings blog??

I’ve actually been busy so have no idea what nonsense went on in there today.

Good for you, that’s when you know you’ve truly made it in the blog!

  109. theplanisworking says:

    Just kidding ya. :)

  110. theplanisworking says:

Maybe. I thought it was Sports Illustrated.

Even if ESPN did a piece on Cutch, that is a drop in the bucket to the 24/7/365 coverage of the Yanks/Sox there.

  111. theplanisworking says:

HA!!!! I guess you are right. :)

  112. Nor Cal Stlrfanrtc (Ryan) says:

  113. Adam Perry says:

Man, I’m psyched for tonight. So many years of frustration waiting for 81 and 82 to happen, but it never occurred to me what it’d feel like. I wrote a long piece about it last night after the game, but it was sloppy with two celebratory beers in me, especially because I live at 5,400 feet above sea level. Now it’s cleaned up for your enjoyment:

It’s been emotional. Who else was surprised by what 81 felt like?

  114. Barb says:

    Wilbon is just goofy.

  115. Vette60 says:

    100 on the WIN!

    Let’s go BUCS!

    Randy in RVA.

  116. Jandy says:

    woop woop!!!

  117. Lad9 says:

Mr. Playoffs, 100 Bucs on the win please. Thank you. Go Buccos! And please indulge in presenting and honoring my 100 Bucs this evening on this potential special occasion:

Clemente, Stargell, Moose, Wagner, Clarke, Leever, Phillipe, Adams, Cuyler, Traynor, Carey, Grantham, Waner X 2, Cooper, Tannehill, Chesbro, Suhr, Kiner, Face, Friend, Law, Groat, Mazeroski, Hoak, Burgess, Vaughn, Beaumont, Virdon, Westlake, M Brown, Haddix, Clendenon, Alley, Sangy, Robertson, Olliver, Cash, Hebner, Clines, Davallio, Blass, Ellis, L Walker, Giusti, R Hernandex, Kison, May, Zisk, Parker, Brett, Madlock, Foli, Garner, Easler, Pagan, Moreno, Robinson, Tekulve, Blyleven, Candy Man, Rooker, Bibby, Ott, Van Slyke, Bonds, Bonilla, Spanky, Slaught, Bell, King, Smiley, Drabek, Neagle, Young, Giles, Rhoden, Ray, Kendall, Briles, Merced, Wilson, Sanchez, McLouth, Cutch, Martin, Grilli, Hanrahan, Melancon, Jones, N. Walker, Alvarez, Locke, Liriano, , Burnett, Stuart, Alou, Stennet, Murtaugh, Hurdle

I did this entirely from memory and under spousal pressure, so I am sure I missed some, but there, Mr. Playoffs, are my 100 Bucs! :)

  118. Karen22 says:

    I know that, silly!

  119. Karen22 says:

  120. Milo Hamilton says:

Tony led his DC radio show today with the Pirates.

  121. Jandy says:

May I have 100 Leapin Liriano units on the win, please!
    Make it 82 tonight, guys!!!

  122. Barb says:

Adam that was a wonderful heartfelt tribute to the team we all love OUR BUCCOS. Rasie the Jolly Roger…..arrrrgh.

  123. Jandy says:

    Amen !

  124. Barb says:

I meant Raise the Jolly Roger.

  125. Jandy says:

I’m lookin for Buck to step up, but I’ll be happy with any Bucco who does so :)

  126. Nor Cal Stlrfanrtc (Ryan) says:

I’ve seen a lot of people say there were emotional about it. I was excited, but not emotional.

  127. Eric Bowser says:

If my math is right, it has been 7,631 days since the Pirates played a baseball game with at least 82 wins.

  128. Jandy says:

hey Crue! I have to surrender the lappy to hubby for awhile. Maybe catch you all later on.
Gonna watch and send good vibes for our Buccos to win #82 TONIGHT!!!
    all together now:

    Let’s do it Bucs!!!

  129. theplanisworking says:

    I like Kornheiser.

Wilbon tries to be “too cool”.

Kornheiser is a grumpy old man. And he knows his stuff.

  130. Nor Cal Stlrfanrtc (Ryan) says:

I hate math. Just when I thought 20 was bad.

  131. War Horse says:

100 bottles of beer on the wall on the WIN, please.

  132. War Horse says:

John Buck will be fine tonight, just see.

  133. Barb says:

    2-1 Bad “good” guys.

  134. Adam Perry says:

Just thinking back to all the depression – losing 20-0 at home to Milwaukee; the two collapses; trading All Stars for nothing; and on and on – and thinking about how long friends and family have connected with me on something so difficult…when Brown said “the losing is over” it definitely felt like 21 years flashing before my eyes. Emotional.

Also, why is everyone seemingly dissing Jason Kendall today, lumping him in with all the bonafide AAA or worse players who started for the Bucs during the streak? Kendall was one of the better players in baseball for a good chunk of time, and during that time he was a Pirate. Not his fault they signed him to a ridiculous deal.

Then again, is it the “Welcome to Hell” rumors people are holding against The Kid?

  135. Karen22 says:

    It’s TIME!!

    Let’s DO IT!!!!!!!

  136. JD says:

    100 on the over please!

    Go Bucs!

  137. Ed says:

    Let’s get to 82 tonight!

  138. Eric Bowser says:

Sitting here for the next 2-3 hours is going to be crazy…. being on the cusp

  139. Milo Hamilton says:

People that like Jason Kendall are the ones that never had to deal with him.

  140. Brandie says:

There’s no reaming like a bold reaming.

  141. Barb says:

    2 Ks ….. Go Frankie.

  142. Adam Perry says:

I don’t know him personally, but even if it’s true Kendall was/is a jackass, why would anyone list him as one of the reasons, let alone the top reason, the losing streak went on so long? And don’t mention the contract – not his fault a bunch of morons gave am aging singles hitter coming off a major injury $10 million a year.

  143. Brandie says:

So much for the brain trust.

    Where are you from?

  144. Patrick(ri) says:

Emotional? I am just happy they will get to 82 before I do. I was beginning to worry!

  145. Patrick(ri) says:

Greg Brown just nailed the cause — too many Canadians.

  146. Adam Perry says:

born in the city of Pittsburgh, went to high school a few miles south of the city. you?

  147. theplanisworking says:

Nice to see the Bucs get a break on a deflection.

    1-0 good guys !!

  148. JHadar says:

How many more innings does Liriano need to pitch to make his stats “official”?

That is both to be listed currently and at the end of season.

  149. pattonbb says:

    Well, damn……….

  150. Barb says:

    WTH. Come on Frankie.

  151. theplanisworking says:

    2-1 bad guys………….

  152. pattonbb says:

Looks like I picked the wrong week to quit smoking.

  153. Brandie says:

Born in Pittsburgh. Grew up in East Liberty and went to Penn Hills High. Live in Philipsburg PA, 24 miles from State College.

  154. Brandie says:

    Good luck with that!

  155. Brandie says:

Plenty of baseball left to be played.

  156. Adam Perry says:

This inning is the Liriano anyone who followed him before this year expected. Hopefully it’s just another rare blip in an otherwise great season.

  157. theplanisworking says:

Looks like I picked the wrong week to quit taking amphetamines. ;)

  158. Brandie says:

    Crossing my fingers.

  159. Arriba Wilver says:

    JM—professional hitter.

  160. pattonbb says:

    MB—professional hitter.

  161. theplanisworking says:

  162. Arriba Wilver says:

    Byrd—professional hitter.

  163. theplanisworking says:

Produces a professional tie game. :)

  164. Arriba Wilver says:

    +1, and Coke

  165. pattonbb says:

Nice one Hippo. The “sniffing glue” line is way too easy.

  166. Arriba Wilver says:

  167. Milo Hamilton says:

    Pedro, not so much.

  168. pattonbb says:

    I had to, AW.

And I agree wholeheartedly, by the way.

  169. florida steeler says:

Pedro even pi##es the Pope off. Doesn’t matter where you bat him.

  170. Arriba Wilver says:

  171. Patrick(ri) says:

Is Morneau channeling Dick Stuart? I don’t know what his number was, but he did add “66” to his autograph in honor of smashing 66 home runs in the thin air in Billings, Montana.

  172. Brandie says:

  173. Adam Perry says:

Twice tonight Pedro has been up with men on base and one out and failed to do anything productive, or even have a professional-looking AB. .200 BA since the All Star break, but that’d be more forgivable if he could at least produce some sac flys when he’s not producing hits. With Byrd and Morneau before him, it’s even more obvious how much work Pedro has to do. Gotta wonder if he’s pressing because of the waiver-wire additions.

  174. Patrick(ri) says:

Looks like the Brewers want to be spoilers tonight.

  175. Milo Hamilton says:

Three of Liriano’s last 6 starts have been bad.

  176. florida steeler says:

    Get him out of there.

  177. theplanisworking says:

    Ummmmmmmmmmm……………………………. what the………?

  178. What the heck is wrong with Frankie tonight? He can’t get ahead of anyone. Plus it is the third game of the series, which we have been having problems with winning of late. 5-2 now.

  179. Patrick(ri) says:

Let us not go for 10 this time.

  180. irishjim says:

Yep. Most bi-polar pitcher I’ve ever seen. Completely brilliant half the time, and Jmac the other half.

  181. pattonbb says:

Liriano picked a bad night to start throwing fat fastballs.

  182. Milo Hamilton says:

Buccos looking to go 0-4 in the games leading into the last 4 Cardinals series.

  183. theplanisworking says:

Maybe we shouldnt play the Cards? ;)

  184. Did Frankie celebrate too much last night, when he shouldn’t have? At this rate, he may not even make it to 6 innings to become official. Come on, get some outs.

  185. irishjim says:

It sure looked like it there. Can’t even pick the ball up.

  186. florida steeler says:

Did Clint leave?? This is unbelievable.

  187. Arriba Wilver says:

I’m not a doctor, but it looks like maybe a little sphincter action may be in play tonight.

  188. Arriba Wilver says:

I know, I know, there’s no such thing as clutch.

  189. theplanisworking says:

Ah, my fellow sage, you are correct.

This is why one doesnt celebrate…. one never knows what is going to happen.

Going in to the postseason, it is looking like Morton is the better option.

  190. Reading says:

Okay, now that 82 probably isn’t happening tonight, we can nit pick. What is the deal with Buck’s soft tosses back to Liriano. Frankie is probably getting annoyed waiting for the ball yo get back to him.

  191. Ghost says:

This has been our pattern: kick butt in a series, but go meekly in the finale. A nice, rousing comeback is in order.

  192. theplanisworking says:

They arent going to score 20 are they?

    ARE THEY????

  193. theplanisworking says:

They arent going to score 20 are they?

    ARE THEY????

  194. Pitiful!!!!!!! I know there is a lot of time left, but this may be one of those games the offense may not be able to make up for the pitching. 7-2 now. Come on bats get something going we all need it tonight!

  195. Patrick(ri) says:

This just makes no sense to me? What is the point of letting this happen to Liriano again? Whatvare Sept, call-ups for? Liriano can’
T need the work. Just nuts.

  196. pattonbb says:

Why take Liriano out now? Might as well see if you can get one more inning out of him.

  197. Milo Hamilton says:

In his last 6 starts, Liriano’s ERA has gone from 2.02 to 2.98.

  198. Arriba Wilver says:

He’s toast. I have no problem with it, especially with the expanded rosters.

  199. Milo Hamilton says:

It’s hard to look this bad against a guy that’s lost 14 games.

  200. Zack Duke on to pitch for the Reds as the Cards have 1st and 3rd with 2 outs.

  201. MadTurk says:

Nah not pressing this is what he is and has been all year and last year and well you get the idea.

  202. Jandy says:

Well, this is sad, no? Liriano laying another egg. Hard to come back from 7-2.
Looks like 82 will have to wait for another time.
    Have I said i can’t stand Ramirez?

  203. Milo Hamilton says:

So Gomez is only going to have 2 days rest before his next outing ?

  204. Jandy says:

    Petey is Petey.

  205. theplanisworking says:

Hold the cake and confetti, Jandy. :(

  206. Jandy says:

Oh I’ll hold it, it WILL come :)

  207. Arriba Wilver says:

I knew they weren’t going to lose the rest of their games, but I thought they might win all of them.

  208. theplanisworking says:

You are just looking for another excuse to drink. ;)

And, are you done giving the lap dance to the hubs you said about above?

  209. theplanisworking says:

  210. Jandy says:

  211. Jandy says:

    Morneau not too happy

  212. theplanisworking says:

Damn, I wanted to see them whoop some Brewer ass !!

  213. Arriba Wilver says:

They have to retaliate. That was no accident.

  214. twentytwo22 says:

    This game isn’t over.

  215. theplanisworking says:

Good this is a PG blog……… on the Trib. ;)

  216. theplanisworking says:

Good this is a PG blog……… on the Trib. ;)

  217. theplanisworking says:

You can now tell this wasnt an accident.
Look at the control he has with the next batter.

    Need to even it up!

  218. Lad9 says:

Lot of game left Jandy and the Brewers just lit the Buc’s afterburner. I am not calling this one over!

  219. Lad9 says:

The catcher called that one. Peralta didn’t even see Cutch after he hit it out

  220. Milo Hamilton says:

The pitcher’s up 3rd next inning.

  221. Jandy says:

No but I wish he had held up at third

  222. Chuck H says:

O.K. Hurdle, you did it once again, not recognizing that your starter was not on his game
tonight, and you left him in until the Brewers had 7 runs. Why don’t you wake up and learn to be a manager? I know we can’t win them all, but you take us completely out of the
game by not putting a reliever in sooner. One or two runs behind, could possibly be
made up but not five. You are not doing your starter any favors either. Let’s just hope
the Cardinals keep losing. GO. BUCS!!!

  223. The Gunner says:

Nice HR by Cutch. But, when he hits the ball, he needs to run to 1B at 100%+. This is not the first time Cutch has done this.

  224. Milo Hamilton says:

That was inexcusable on Leyva’s part.

  225. Arriba Wilver says:

  226. Pitcher up 4th as Morneau is thrown out at the plate for the 2nd out. Leyva again. Dude is slower than Sid Bream and you send him from 1st.

  227. theplanisworking says:

    DUBBLE BOOM ! :)

  228. Lad9 says:

I think Mr Hasis is out of action tonight, so I will be his stand in. What the hell were ya thinking Leyva?

  229. Bob Hasis says:

Nobody on this blog wants to hear from me at this moment

  230. Mrevo says:

Are you kidding me, down four runs and nobody out and he sends the runner! WTF!

  231. theplanisworking says:

And that was inexcusable on Pedro’s part. Again.

  232. Jandy says:

    well said!

  233. Jandy says:

    hey, it’s Mr. Hasis :)

  234. theplanisworking says:

    You accused him of thought.

  235. Jandy says:

Yup…not good. where ya from Mrevo?

  236. Patrick(ri) says:

SS, CF & that rookies 2B for the Brewers are really impressive. Very strong up the middle and LuCroy isn’ t too bad, either.

  237. lupesanchez says:

That’s twice Pedro has whiffed with a man on third and less than two out. Come on!

  238. Bob Hasis says:

Let’s talk about Leyva’s genius at setting up the Walker defense in short right field

  239. Karen22 says:

He’s the LAST guy I want to see up there in that situation. FAIL!

  240. Lad9 says:

Pedro swang at ball 4 and ball 5 …. Sigh

  241. Karen22 says:

WORST coach in the league. Bar none.

  242. The Gunner says:

Leyva is becoming a total disgrace. His consistency is killing us.

  243. Bob Hasis says:

    Even JHay can put it in play;

  244. Parrothead01 says:

Well besides Kedro being back in full force, there is a disturbing trend. This is the third game Buck has caught and the pirates lost the first two giving up four and seven runs and are trying to lose this one giving up seven runs. Either Buck has bad timing to catch when the pitcher is having an off day or he doesn’t call a very good game. Maybe time for Sanchez to catch next time Martin needs a break.

  245. theplanisworking says:

Nice to see the umps, who completely s**k at their jobs, warn both benches so the Bucs cannot retaliate.

  246. Bob Hasis says:

Thanks for the support. I’ve been looking for an ally all season long

  247. theplanisworking says:

    Be careful, Bob.

you will be hung in effigy by the “you cant critcize anything about the Pirates” crowd.

  248. Lad9 says:

Jandy or Biz I need a ruling. My current residence is in the confirmed locations, but my hometown isn’t. Is my hometown eligible for inclusion?

  249. Jandy says:

    we shall see :)

  250. Bob Hasis says:

You’re talking about a different administration

  251. Jandy says:

    dunno, that’s BIZ’s call….Biz?

  252. Lad9 says:

Hope you didn’t mind me taking your name in vain Bob. Leyva earned it….again.

  253. Jandy says:

I’m gonna go upstairs and turn this on. I’m sleepy. 4am comes too early.
Keep on sending those good vibes, Crue!

  254. Lad9 says:

Good night Jandy. Hope you awake to a win.

  255. Mrevo says:

    Pleasant Hills

  256. Mrevo says:

Lol, I’ve seen these people about

  257. Adam Perry says:

If Alvarez had even got a ball on the ground his last two AB’s, this game would be 7-5, not 7-3. He is hurting his team right now, and hurting his future arbitration efforts….

  258. Jandy says:

    me too, Lad…thanks :)

  259. theplanisworking says:

  260. Lad9 says:

    Stormy Petrel!

  261. pattonbb says:

Welcome to the big leagues Stolmy Pimentel . They’re going to like you here.

  262. theplanisworking says:

1/2 off Martinis in Milwaukee. ;)

  263. Lad 9 says:

    I think so too patton….

  264. Kevin says:

Hindsight being what it is… Anyone else feel Jenmar should have STARTED this game? Everybody in a brewers uniform tonight bats righty except for aoki who strangely hits lefties very well. Bad managing = starting liriano tonight.

Oh and Pedro sucks. On a positive note, Morneau and Byrd are the most professional hitters we have this year. Absolutely phenomenal. Just hope some rubs off on Kdro.

  265. florida steeler says:

You mean people on this blog are FINALLY seeing through Pedro?? I don’t care that he leads the league in home runs. He also leads the league in strikeouts and errors. He kills the offense on most nights. He swings at anything down and in the dirt and hits when it counts on rare occasions.

  266. pattonbb says:

Jim Reynolds gets my vote as the newest member of the worst umpires in baseball club.

  267. Kevin says:

Omg. Awesome managing by Milwaukee, no matter how this AB turns out. Ebrybody knows “a Byrd in Hand is worth two in the bushes”

  268. theplanisworking says:

Even when making an out, Byrd looks good.

  269. theplanisworking says:

Boy wouldnt a 4-point Buck look good right now?

  270. Kevin says:

Yay. Kdro finally got a hit. Oh, he was HIT by a pitch. Oh well just as good.

  271. theplanisworking says:

    Eh, I tried.

  272. Kevin says:

No such luck for Buck :(

  273. Lad 9 says:

    That sucks!

  274. Kevin says:

How many ducks have we left on the pond so far? Way too many it seems.

  275. twentytwo22 says:

This loss is on the offense. They’ve had plenty of chances to score runs against a bad team in a hitter’s park.

  276. pattonbb says:

Red Sox are beating Tigers 20-4. They’ve hit 8 HRs.

  277. florida steeler says:

You are right–these “newer” umpires are horrible. Tim McClelland, 29 years, is still the best ball-strike umpire in baseball.

  278. Tom P. says:

We may be getting our wish. The Reds and Cardinals are in the bottom of the 12th.

  279. Bob Hasis says:

No sir, it was for a worthy cause; the demise of Leyva, who will have exacted his demise of the Pirates if he stays at third

  280. florida steeler says:

Bad half inning for Walker. Why was he trying to tag the guy??

  281. theplanisworking says:

    Well, off to St. Louis.
Cant win them all, but this does stink.

Everybody have fun, see you on the flip side.

  282. Steelag70 says:

    Uggghh…why can’t we ever get a sweep???

  283. Steelag70 says:

Buccos have left 19 on base tonight….

  284. Steelag70 says:

    19 LOB tonight…

  285. Lad 9 says:

    Welcome back #39!!!

  286. Steelag70 says:

Crap…Cards just scored in the 14th…

  287. bizrow says:

    Welcome Jim K

  289. twentytwo22 says:

8 straight series they ended with a loss.

  290. Lad 9 says:

    Lets get em on Friday.

  291. bizrow says:

Still a long way to go

Off day tomorrow, Lunatics need to rest up for the big weekend

  292. Karen22 says:

He needs to be fired before the playoffs.

  293. Arriba Wilver says:

So, how’d the game go tonight?

  294. bizrow says:

    Its pennant race like

Its been a while for me ;-)
