  1. radio wave says:

What a strange opponent to schedule. What kind of crowd is expected. And national prediction safe pit could lose this one. Other than Texas A&M Alabama and Wisconsin Arizona State a slow College football weekend.

  2. Drew71 says:

“Other than Texas A&M Alabama…a slow College football weekend”

I dunno. To me that would be like saying that September 30, 1975 was a slow boxing weekend. Other than Ali-Frazier.

I’ve been looking forward to The Game for exactly 364 days. I’m kinda glad that there’s nothing much else of interest to distract.

And I love the Alien vs Predator story line. Demons from Hell are always far more interesting than smarmy good guys. Everybody remembers Kirk yelling Kahnnnnn! because Ricardo Montalban as Kahn was the most interesting guy in the movie. And the Ledger AND Nicholson Jokers blew both Batmen off the screen.

So forget the good guys. They are, well, forgettable.

Let’s just put both Demons on the same field today and let em fight it out for the Keys to Hell.

  3. Drew71 says:

I know a young lady who claims she is a witch.

    Coven, pagan, tattoos, everything.

She must be very conflicted over this game.

  4. Drew71 says:

Notice how I’m turning this into an SEC thread.

I mean, c’mon. pitt – New Mexico? Really?

  5. cherokee23 says:

Thought I’d jump in so you’re not just talking to yourself……haha……like your point about the 2 bad guys playing each other today……for me, I’m in the Charles Barkley camp and will be yelling “Roll Tide”……For as hypocritical as the NCAA is, this Manziel kid really rubs me the wrong way!

  6. Brandie says:

    Oh the Drew-manity!

    Good morning Drew-k.

  7. The SEC.

We have a WVU-Ga.St. thread, so we can ignore the SEC.

  8. Brandie says:

He is not smart. He reminds me of Big Ben (not Ben Roethlisberger). Johnny Manziel is Johnny Football. He believes his own hype and that is a huge problem. I am not asking for fake humility, but this kid is not the be all and end all. Football ha survived many years without him and will continue to do so.

  9. Brandie says:

Morning Revvie! Spot on, as per usual!

  10. Eric Bowser says:

Curious to see if Pitt keeps their scholarship offer on the table for Shai McKenzie after ACL injury last night.

  11. Eric Bowser says:

    ME > Drew….

While Drew is dreaming about the SEC, I’m listening to Sinatra on this great Saturday morning. The kids haven’t said turn it off…. winning!

  12. Brandie says:

Oh man! What a terrible twist of fate! Prayers and good vibes to the young man.

  13. Brandie says:

Smiling from ear to ear! :-)

  14. Drew71 says:

    A who-who thread??

  15. Drew71 says:

About to tee off on a bright, sunny day. Golf tournament.

    Losing. But enjoying it.

  16. JoeyBats says:

Should be a “glorious crowd of about 25-30K at the stadium, today” …Stevie P will ANNOUNCE 40-45K.
Wanting to see some real improvement from this Panther defense – some disciplined tacking…better, MUCH BETTER pass defense.
    HAIL TO PITT! :-)

  17. Eric Bowser says:

Good luck, keep it under 100.

  18. Drew71 says:

Scramble. Team is -5 after 6.

    That pace won’t last.

  19. Drew71 says:

They’re ringers. Carrying me. All I’ve contributed is one putt.

  20. Lad 9 says:

Looking forward to being amongst the 25-30 K on he North Shore. Lets go Pitt!

And it really pains me to say this and I haven’t since the last time they played Penn State, but Roll Tide! Don’t care for Manziel at all. (Took the high ride and deleted all the real nasty stuff)

  21. JohninOshkosh says:

    Alabama at Texas A&M ?

I’ll be doing yard work after the Pitt game. I’m not buying the hype at all. Alabama will win this one easily. Saban in a revenge game he’s had a year to prepare for? C’mon.

  22. JohninOshkosh says:

A “+” and a “hoka hey!” to you, Joe.

  23. JohninOshkosh says:

Have a good one Lad. Even if there is only 25-30K in the house, there is nothing like going to college football games.

    Saturdays Rule!

  24. Lad9 says:

So true. Literally a perfect day for college football here at the big mustard bowl. Looking forward to this game and zipping home to watch Bama deflate Johny’s football, and then watching the Bucs annhilate the Cubbies tonight. Go Pitt. Go Bucs!

  25. Kevin says:

beans… INT on the very first play :(

  26. JRay3 says:

Tyler Boyd is going to be special. I think local kids seeing he is getting a chance to play early under Chryst, and taken will play can help recruiting down the road.

7-0 Pitt on a nice bounce back drive by Savage.

  27. JRay3 says:

    And “talent” will play

  28. JohninOshkosh says:

Boyd is going to be fun to watch. Probably, Chryst’s best recruit to date. Precisely the type of kids the coach needs to bring to Pitt. Take advantage of that rich recruiting territory in PA and Ohio.

  29. JohninOshkosh says:

BTW, Dejan. The official live summary link above takes one to the WVU game. Some Pitt fans might find that unforgivable! :)

  30. JRay3 says:

Boyd flashes crazy speed, 33 yard end around untouched, 14-3 Pitt.

  31. Kevin says:

where’d they get this Boyd kid? I was expecting they’d really miss that Shell guy Chryst told to “buzz off”.

DK: The little football factory known as Clairton.

  32. JohninOshkosh says:

    Very fun guy to watch.

  33. JRay3 says:

Like this James Conner kid runs very hard and carries contact. Three straight TD drives, 21-3 Pitt.

  34. JohninOshkosh says:

I remember a guy at ESPN talking about all the coaches they have on staff as analysts. He said, at that time, Bob Davie was the only coach there that wanted to be an analyst and didn’t want to get back into coaching.

I really liked him as an analyst. I wonder if he wishes he was still doing that ?

DK: Really good interview with Davie on TribLIVE Radio this week by Daniel Dudley, and that came up. Davie said he loved broadcasting but longed for the competition.

  35. JRay3 says:

And than he adds a second rushing TD on an amazing spin move to break away from tackle on 38 yard run.

The way Connor and Bennett have been running don’t miss Shell at all.

    28-6 Panthers.

  36. radio wave says:

So much for the national experts on the Pitt game. And what the heck is going on with Michigan and Akron?

  37. JohninOshkosh says:

Terry Bowden is the Zips coach. Sounds like he is trying to build that program with transfers, JUCOs etc.

  38. Kevin says:

Yes Connor has looked fantastic too.

  39. JRay3 says:

What a play to end the half, Boyd out jumps double coverage in back of endzone for amazing catch for Pitt’s 5th TD of day, second for Boyd.

Panthers head to locker room up 35-3.

  40. Kevin says:

wow 35-6 in the 1st half. If only Pitt had played like this against FSU.

  41. JRay3 says:

The 39 yard TD throw and catch makes it 35-6 at half, correction.

  42. JRay3 says:

Have to remember this is a very young team, most improvement is usually made between first and second game. Would expect this team to continue to improve as season wears on and good thing is Panthers will not face a team like FSU the rest of the way,

  43. cmat0829 says:

lets not overlook the quality of the opponent folks…NM is probably around the 100-110th ranked team in division 1 (that is bad)… cant really view this as any sort of measuring stick, so just enjoy…. I’m a UNM alum, and football ain’t our thing.

  44. radio wave says:

Akron has no business being that close.7

  45. JohninOshkosh says:

    It’s a great city, though.

  46. JohninOshkosh says:

Hangover from the big win over the Fighting Irish ?

  47. JRay3 says:

True but WV is only up 10 on 1AA Ga State, Michigan up 4 on Akron, Va tech losing to East Carolina, can’t take any opponent lightly, nice to see the Panthers doing what they should against a MW team.

  48. Arriba Wilver says:

It’s like JAL said about the WVU game. It’s no win. If you win handily, you should have, and if you don’t, disaster.

I’ll take winning handily. Lad’s probably having a blast.

  49. radio wave says:

The Minnesota coach had another seizure today.

  50. JAL says:

WVU up 34-7 with about 10 minutes left

  51. JAL says:

I agree, win big is the best

  52. Ga. State’s not 1-AA anymore, but they might as well be, as they are in the Sun Belt.

  53. Brandie says:

I think he needs to get an assistance dog to better warn him of these episodes, and a life alert pendant to summon an ambulance if necessary.

  54. Eric Bowser says:

If Tyler Boyd was playing on a Top 10 team, national media would be drooling.

  55. radio wave says:

Akron at Michigan 1, 15 seconds thrown for 5 yd. loff.

  56. radio wave says:

Last second pass incomplete Akron loses.

  57. Lad 9 says:

Sure did AW. Was great to see even with the little dead spot in the second half. Tyler Boyd is the real deal. If the ball gets near him, it gets sucked in like a Dyson vacuum. New Mexico is not very good, but it was still a good performance.

  58. kr70 says:

akron receiver tackles in the end zone , no flag
