Comments

  1. Thundercrack says:

One reason to watch this game is to watch Tabata play center field. Could be fun

  2. Brandie says:

For those who wanted Cumpton, you got your wish. Regulars getting a well deserved rest. Bring home the W. Let the Reds know…it does not matter what line up is fielded. We will fight and beat you any place, any where, any time! BRING IT!

  3. Eric Bowser says:

purchased ticket for Wild Card game….. sitting in section 136…

  4. Arriba Wilver says:

    Stubhub?

  5. Eric Bowser says:

yep…. had to sell one of my children to do it, lol

  6. Eric Bowser says:

  7. Arriba Wilver says:

    I know. I’ve looked. ;-)

  8. Dadtackular says:

    +1
    That and watching Cumpton again.

  9. Thundercrack says:

Cumpton hasn’t pitched in a week (3 innings). I am not expecting him to be too sharp

  10. Thundercrack says:

I guess I’ll listen to the game on the radio then

  11. Brandie says:

No matter. They all need to go out and do their best.

  12. Arriba Wilver says:

I have SRO’s. The good news is they were $20 a piece. The bad news is they are SRO’s.
But they’re even going for $100+ on StubHub.

Beat Em Bucs – Tuesday ;-)

  14. likeabugonarug says:

Lineup I pretty much expected. Only concern is that with all these call-ups we go what, 10 deep in the OF, but we don’t have enuf to give Pedro the day off. And Mercer.

    Kevin

  15. Thundercrack says:

I do too…and I’m not even sure how to get up to the rotunda

  16. Brandie says:

Biggest takeaway…October Baseball is in the Burgh! What more can I say?

  17. JRay3 says:

Think Pedro is in there to give him shot at NL HR title as he is currently tied with Goldschmidt.

  18. Keith says:

    Ultimate bench lineup:
    Pie, CF
    Harrison, 2B
    Lambo, RF
    Sanchez, 3B
    Jones, 1B
    Buck, C
    Snider, LF
…and don’t look now, but they haven’t brought any other infielders.

  19. Brandie says:

    Biz…

Eric checks in from St. Mary’s PA. Dan checks in from Lewiston, NY!

  20. likeabugonarug says:

I kinda figured that, too. And with someone else, might not be so bad, but do you really want Pedro out there trying for nothing but homeruns the game before the WC game? That’s my big concern.

    Kevin

  21. JohninOshkosh says:

Brewers will excercise option on Aoki. Pretty clear now that the Brewers had no real interest in moving him.

  22. Thundercrack says:

Where is Brandon Inge when you really want him to start at third base?

    :-)

  23. Playoffs by 2012 says:

    SUNDAY PICK ‘EM!!!

THIS IS THE MOST BEAUTIFUL SUNDAY LINE-UP THE WINDOW HAS EVER SEEN!
The final regular season standings will be updated this evening.

The Window will continue throughout the duration of the playoffs.
September and October will be combined and all winners will be announced at the conclusion of the playoffs.
    ENJOY!

******PLEASE READ WHAT IS WRITTEN BELOW******
PLEASE PLACE YOUR “WAGERS” AS REPLIES IN THIS COMMENT BOX
Makes my job a helluva lot easier when I don’t have to hunt to find everyone’s “wagers”

Max “wager” is 100 units on any single line.
All “wagers” must be in multiples of 5 units.
Play as few or as many lines as you’d like.
As always, this is for fun and entertainment purposes.

    GOOD LUCK!!!

KEEP CALM & PREPARE FOR TUESDAY

  24. Thundercrack says:

They would have been interested if we had offered Jameson Tailon :-)

    But we never trade prospects

  25. BDHumbert says:

Thought about selling mine on Stubhub – but gotta go…

  26. Dom says:

    100 ON 4-6!!!

    THANKS!!!

  27. Thundercrack says:

I would have liked them to have been able to rest Walker, Pedro and Mercer today

  28. JohninOshkosh says:

Always bummed to see MLB regular season come to an end. No sport fits so nicely into day to day living like baseball.

This year I’ll get over that really quick like.

Anyone see SNL last night when Tina Fey said the gigantic lead singer for Arcade Fire looked like a “Serbian basketball player” ?

  29. Brandie says:

They are integral parts to the team. Those who called for Inge to be run out on a rail (Guilty as charged), what is that old saying…Be careful what you wish for.

  30. Arriba Wilver says:

    I’ll save you a place. ;-)

  31. Patrick(ri) says:

I believe Cutch would make a good choice for MVP, but I cringe a bit when I see him touted as a “5Tool” player. Imho, his arm is average, at best, and not particularly accurate.

  32. Thundercrack says:

I thought Cueto starting on Tuesday was Dusty’s attempt at mind games.

But apparently Latos has some floating bone chips in his elbow.

  33. Arriba Wilver says:

I get putting Pedro out there. And I think we may have seen the last of Mercer as a regular through the post-season.

  34. Thundercrack says:

    Thanks!
I’m worried about my wife. She has Bucco Fever but is also afraid of heights.

  35. Thundercrack says:

:-) = it was not a serious ‘wish’.

It would have been nice if they would have had another infielder that they could have added to the expanded rosters who could have played infield today.

  36. Thundercrack says:

With some of those nut-jobs on the Reds, I am afraid that some of our players might be used for target practice today.

  37. Drew71 says:

I’ve been trying to sell my children for years.

I can do it on StubHub?

  38. Arriba Wilver says:

There’s a huge fee for kids. Probably less than incontinent poodles, though.

  39. Arriba Wilver says:

My son’s not thrilled, either, about standing.

  40. John Lease says:

Pedro has to play to try to get the home run title all to himself. He’s tied with Goldschmidt.

  41. Bill Born says:

    100 on the 4 – 6 line Please
    Thanks.

  42. bizrow says:

    100 on 4-6, thanks Playoffs

  43. Arriba Wilver says:

    100 on 0-3.

    Thanks.

  44. Pucknutz says:

    100 on 7 or more

  45. bizrow says:

    Thanks Brandie, that makes 411

  46. Dadtackular says:

    100 on 0-3

  47. cmat0829 says:

nor should we have ever contemplated trading Taillon for Aoki.

  48. cmat0829 says:

    100 on 7 or more

  49. tcb says:

    100 on the 4-6. Thanks.

  50. cmat0829 says:

i also like playing pedro vs the lefty as he is on one of his hot streaks… want to try to keep that going.

  51. Wild Bill says:

Back from the west coast and you guys did a great job in keeping me informed while gone the last 12 days. Couldn’t follow yesterday’s game while on the plane, but it was so cool to land and fire up the iPad to find we had own big.

You guys going to Tuesday’s game have a blast; I’m all traveled out right now.

btw – Ryan has some beautiful territory out there in Nor Cal.

  52. Wild Bill says:

    That’s “won big”

  53. Jason81 says:

    100 on 4-6 runs, please!

  54. Lad 9 says:

100 on 4-6 please. G’day to the Window. Go Buccos!

  55. JRay3 says:

    50 on 4-6

    Thanks and go bucs

  56. JRay3 says:

And the Pirates B team get on board early with Buck RBI single to plate Tabby, 1-0 good guys.

Pirates have chance for win #94, makes CH look like a pretty good prognosticator huh?

  57. Lad 9 says:

    Not in a million years.

  58. theplanisworking says:

Can anyone show where any living soul said to trade Taillon for Aoki? Or any player for that matter?

  59. JRay3 says:

Mercer Mercer me a Jordy HR and Bucs up 2-0, peaking at just the right time. Meanwhile Reds scuffling at wrong time.

  60. cmat0829 says:

just responding to TC’s post above. where he mentioned aoki and taillon in the same sentence.

  61. theplanisworking says:

Oh, I know cmat, not going at you. I just cannot recall anyone ever saying trade Taillon for any other player. I am just calling BS on that.

    Carry on. :)

  62. theplanisworking says:

I missed that. Was it close at the plate?
    Darn.

  63. Brandie says:

Let the Reds Scuffle off to Buffalo!

  64. theplanisworking says:

What did Buffalo ever do to deserve that?

  65. Brandie says:

    OK…Scuffle Off to New Jersey!

  66. JRay3 says:

    No not close

  67. theplanisworking says:

    Good afternoon, Muppet.
    Good to see you.

  68. Brandie says:

OCTOBER BASEBALL HAS BEEN BEDDY GOOD TO ME!

Brought to you by Chico Esquella!

  69. JRay3 says:

El Toro plunked now there is a surprise.

  70. JRay3 says:

Hey hey hey Brandie! What a Bucco day.

  71. Brandie says:

    Low! Just Low!

Remember… This game does not matter!

    That Is All.

  72. Thundercrack says:

The Brewers may have been much more serious to move him for a player like Tallion. That was my point.

Plan, after weeks of criticizing the FO for not wanting to trade prospects (without knowing any of the names involved in the trade rumors), it seems like you are complimenting the FO now….for not making a dumb deal that involved a prospect.

Hi Hippo. Have a nice day.

  73. Mrevo says:

Jones is awful, I think I’d rather see Snider on the post season roster than Jones.

  74. Brandie says:

Steelers game is being recorded. Buccos going great. Husband is listening to Bluegrass Chase Scene Music. All is well.

  75. Brandie says:

Be Careful What You Wish For…

  76. Brandie says:

Straight Out ta Cumpton…So far, so good!

  77. theplanisworking says:

Thunder, I never wanted a top 5 prospect traded, unless the return was great.

I did criticize the FO for never trading prospects, because until this year, they didnt. I dont see where my views have changed. I have complimented the FO now, because they did a good job this year……….. unless you want me to keep slamming the FO just so you can continue to argue with me??

Happy Hippo Day to you too! :)

  78. theplanisworking says:

    You are a funny chica.

I have to go now, I dont want another of the “old guard” of posters to criticize me for posting too much, or criticizing the team, etc.

So I may see you later, if certain people “allow” me. ;)

  79. Mrevo says:

Both are bad, Snider seems to be able to come up with a big hit on occassion.

  80. Mrevo says:

Go Jordy, hit for the cycle!

  81. JRay3 says:

Now Mercer legs out a triple on blast to RC….CH has decision come Tuesday.

  82. JRay3 says:

JHay with RBI single and Bucs up 3-0 on deflated Reds.

  83. Brandie says:

Listening to Walk and Greg Brown trying to explain the American League play in to determine the Wild Card Rep. Who’s On First was less confusing.

  84. Brandie says:

Tell em STFU from me! :-)

  85. Lad 9 says:

Typical move by the Toothpick. Really dislike him.

  86. 21sthebest says:

    Grossman was a prospect.

  87. Brandie says:

Looks like poop emoticon in the face.

  88. 21sthebest says:

I think he has probably already made it.

  89. Arriba Wilver says:

Well, it would have been kind of obvious if they would have hit Cutch in the dugout.

    :-D

I hope Clint has learned that he can’t believe Dusty. What a joke.

  90. Thundercrack says:

    Wehner is on with Brown.

I am amuses every time JW tries to pronounce Izturis

  91. JRay3 says:

Cumpton has done masterfully in his spot starts this season, have to think he will be in mix and get opportunity in Bradenton come March.

  92. theplanisworking says:

Just think if Cumpton had some of Locke’s starts down the stretch.
Think we would have had the division title?

    Just a thought.

  93. Patrick(ri) says:

    An excellent thought.

  94. JohninOshkosh says:

    Tampa Bay crushing Toronto.

Twins and Cubs just phoned it in this weekend.

  95. Arriba Wilver says:

    +1

  96. Thundercrack says:

    21,
So was Rudy Owens and all the minor leaguers they traded away for Byrd & Morneau

  97. JohninOshkosh says:

My post had innocent intentions. I got TV’s point. Did not intend to start a brouhaha.

  98. JohninOshkosh says:

    *TC’s

  99. Brandie says:

    Sorry. Meant Wehner.

  100. 21sthebest says:

Henderson Alvarez no hitter through 8. Score is nil to nil.

  101. Make that 9 innings now of no hit ball. Miami only has 4 hits themselves.

  102. twentytwo22 says:

I like Pimentel’s strikeout ability out of the bullpen. Maybe he can phase out one of the pitch to contact relievers next year.

  103. Thundercrack says:

I wish Gabby would have played a few more times this season

  104. twentytwo22 says:

The Pirates have a chance to finish with a better record than Detroit and the Dodgers.

  105. NO hitter in tact on a wild pitch run scored with bases loaded

  106. in the bottom of the 9th. Marlins win 1-0.

  107. Oh and this just in, Steelers SUCK! 34-17 in the 3rd.

  108. John Lease says:

I’m sure Clint won’t do it, but I’d take Cumpton as the long man in the post season.

    He’s done nothing but pitch.

  109. JohninOshkosh says:

Walk off wild pitch no hitter on season’s final day. Wow. Baseball is something else!

  110. John Lease says:

    But, how are the ratings?

I watched it some, same problems as always, Rburger won’t take first downs with his legs.

  111. twentytwo22 says:

Jones’ 100th HR as a Pirate.

  112. JRay3 says:

Mercer 3-4 with single, triple, HR but prob won’t get another AB.

  113. 21sthebest says:

    Jordy hits for the cyc.

  114. Ratings on my end are zero since I am south of DC and would have to watch Baldimore game. Choosing to watch the winning Pittsburgh Team – the Bucs!

  115. Bob Hasis says:

If he has a decision to make, then he should no longer be our manager. There simply is a mere .75 pct. points difference in batting.

Mercer has an inside the park homer plus a few triples; the other guy has trouble getting inside the park doubles.

There is NO difference in defensive ability

  116. If the Reds come back and tie this, he may just get another AB as it is now 4-2 and no out and man on second.

  117. Jeanmar not helping his case for the post-season bullpen. Not having a great outing again.

  118. Raise it again for #94. Beat them again at HOME on Tuesday!! GO BUCS!!

  119. JRay3 says:

Pirates earn the SWEEP…4-2 to close out 2013 regular season with a 94-68 mark.

What a season the Pirates gave us, now on to Tuesday night at PNC in biggest Game of year. Can’t wait to see the crowd, scene for playoff baseball in the Burgh, long time coming!

    Go Bucs!

  120. Lad 9 says:

Raise it! Sweep! Can’t wait for Tuesday! Go Buccos!

  121. theplanisworking says:

    + many.

Happily surprised by the Bucs in this series.

  122. Tom P. says:

Pirates outscore the Reds 16-6 during the weekend. The Reds only scored in 3 of 27 innings, one in each game. The Reds end the regular season on a 5 game losing streak.

  123. 21sthebest says:

Clint was way off with his preseason prediction. :-)

  124. Playoffs by 2012 says:

    94 regular season wins!!!
    How about that?!?

Here are the final regular season standings from The Window.

  125. Did he say 93 or 95?

And, more importantly, what did DK say?

    :D

  126. 21sthebest says:

Clint said 95. Not sure what Nostrakovacevic said.

  127. theplanisworking says:

    Didnt he predict 77?

At the beginning of the season, I predicted 80.
After Playoffs asked for # of remaining wins, I predicted 94. A lot of people predicted above 95.

I am just happy they made the playoffs.

  128. Arriba Wilver says:

My recollection is 95. Either way, all who chortled at that should eat some chortle.

    The Fan guys especially.

    :-P

  129. theplanisworking says:

    Clint said 95.

  130. theplanisworking says:

Speaking of chortle, here is a very nice article on Gerrit Cole.

    http://espn.go.com/blog/sweetspot/post/_/id/40947/gerrit-cole-adapting-fast-towards-acedom

  131. JohninOshkosh says:

I chortled. I’ll take my chortle with steak and eggs.

  132. Dom says:

What if there’s a tie for the month of September?

  133. Dom says:

Why did they have to expand the playoff teams THIS year???

Even if we get by the Reds, we’ll still be at a disadvantage as Liriano would have already got a start.

  134. likeabugonarug says:

If I remember correctly, you have a 25 man roster for Tuesday, then can reset come the next series. In order to get a few more bats available, do you keep Morton, AJ, and Locke(he’s rather obvious) and go with 10 pitchers and 15 position players? True, you’re in trouble if you go lots of extra innings, but neither AJ nor Charlie would be available on Tuesday. But then, not sure you are gaining much with the choices we’d have for bench players…..

    Kevin

  135. likeabugonarug says:

I meant do you keep those 3 guys off the roster…..

    Kevin

  136. Arriba Wilver says:

I think it started last year. But what’s the diff? And if we would have won the division, wouldn’t have to do it.

    Seems fair to me.

  137. Arriba Wilver says:

I just rolled my eyes. ;-)

  138. bizrow says:

There was talk on the radio, or Root, forget which, that the 25 man roster for Tuesday will have two starters, Francisco and Garrett

That’s kinda funky, but whatever. It also means Hamilton is a lock for Cincy’s roster

  139. I did that, too, while wondering if 2 epic collapses had caused him to lose his mind.

    Thankfully, no, they didn’t.

  140. JohninOshkosh says:

In my day I stood in the snow. And i liked it…

  141. theplanisworking says:

Has anyone heard how Clint came up with that number? I mean, going from 79 to 95 wins means he had a feeling about something……

  142. Arriba Wilver says:

Have to have 2 starters on the roster, at least. Right now this is for all the marbles (right now).

  143. JohninOshkosh says:

First time in long history of baseball that both venerable franchises in Pittsburgh and Cleveland have been in the playoffs at the same time.

  144. JHadar says:

Win or go home. It’s baseball at it’s best.

We just swept the Reds. I’d be more worried about overconfidence than the rotation for the next series . . . . I think our pitching is good enough that any one of our top four can keep us in a game if they’re on their game.

If we get by the Reds, starting A. J. makes a lot of sense.

  145. Arriba Wilver says:

I heard he got together with DK.

  146. theplanisworking says:

Rays at Rangers tomorrow for the 2nd AL wild-card spot.
Winner goes to Cleveland to play Wednesday.

Think Francona has made a little difference in Cleveland?

  147. theplanisworking says:

    :D

  148. theplanisworking says:

    :D

  149. I don’t see how anyone can be overconfident after the last 20 years.

  150. Playoffs by 2012 says:

September and October will be combined, hopefully there will be no ties.

  151. Pucknutz says:

Will never see a Pittsburgh/Cleveland World series, as much as I would love to see that.
Buccos might be able to get there. And if by some way ya did – in game 7 leading by a ton something crazy would happen……
Sorry Cleveland, just ain’t gonna happen. Not because ya got a bad team, just because there is some very dark black cloud hanging over all your teams. I don’t know what yinz did to anger the sports Gods but it musta been bad.

  152. Brandie says:

The right man for the right job at the right time.

  153. Pucknutz says:

I do detect any overconfidence ,IMHO.
Pitching hangs tight – bats warm up even a bit – good to go!
Only one game though – nail bitten time till the very LAST out.

  154. Dave G says:

Checking the archives on March 31:

DK had the Bucs at 76-86

    I had them at 77-85.

Thrilled that we both were wrong!

  155. I didn’t make a pick, but I can honestly say I would not have said 94-68.

I thought they had a terrible off season.

    Also glad to be wrong.

  156. kr70 says:

    also glad your wrong, lol

  157. Brandie says:

The Right To Move On. I want our Buccos to win so bad I can taste it!

  158. KenKopp says:

Clint said it would probably take 95 to get in the payoffs, or he might have said 95 to win the division. Actual 2013 results: 99 to win the division, 87 to get in the playoffs
