  1. Brandie says:

A little heavy on The Bucco thread. LET’S GO PENS!

  2. Milo Hamilton says:

    James Neal will play.

  3. Brandie says:

Yay! Something finally goes right today!

  4. Brandie says:

It was not my intent to chase you off of the Bucco thread. You have my apologies. It has been a very bad day. I’ll shut up now.

  5. theplanisworking says:

Brandie, you in no way chased me off the Bucco thread.
And I sincerely hope I didnt come across that way.
I know you have had a crappy day.

Just very sick of certain posters causing trouble, and i fell for it again. Guess thats why I get called sensitive???? ;)

And never shut up on here.
You are the blog’s ray of sunshine, even on a cloudy day.

Hope this helps in some small way.

    Oh, and FIRE BYLSMA!!!!!

  6. Eric Bowser says:

    Kunitz – Crosby – Dupuis
    Jokinen – Malkin – Neal
    Bennett – Sutter – Kobasew
    Glass – Jeffrey – Adams

    Orpik – Martin
    Scuderi – Niskanen
    Maatta – Bortuzzo

    Fleury – starter
    Zatgoff – backup

  7. Brandie says:

Just sitting here bawling my eyes out. Figuring life is too short to be caught in such a circular argument. That was the point I was trying to make. I probably did that with the grace of Mike Adams and the subtlety of a punch in the mouth.

    Thanks Plan.

  8. Brandie says:

Thanks for the low down Captain Bowser.

  9. theplanisworking says:

    Brandie 1
    Hippo 0.

    FIRE MYSELF !!!! ;)

  10. theplanisworking says:

    You forgot your FIRE BYLSMA!

Or does that come out later?

  11. Eric Bowser says:

Going to say it now… not a fan of Beau Bennett on the third line.

  12. Brandie says:

No one fires Planhattan Transfer without my permission. Besides, Jandy would have my head if I list the blog’s only hippo!

  13. Eric Bowser says:

    Too early….

I’ll be watching to see if he changes tactics from game to game, even period to period. Can’t play the same style all the time or else, you get the same old criticism about lack of adjustments come playoff time.

  14. Milo Hamilton says:

Neither am I but you know how this works. Could change by 8:30. Problem is they don’t have any 3rd liners.

  15. theplanisworking says:

In your opinion, do you think he is able to change?

  16. Eric Bowser says:

Yeah, he’ll see some time on 2nd but long-term, best to have him get more with Malkin than with Sutter.

No argument about the lack of third liners and might I add the 4th line isn’t all that better with Glass, Jeffrey, Adams and Vitale.

  17. theplanisworking says:

Nah, I think Jandy would understand.
    I am replaceable.

Hope we are able to distract you tonight.

  18. theplanisworking says:

    GOAL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  19. Milo Hamilton says:

    Love that 3rd line ! :)

  20. Eric Bowser says:

Of course, I rip them… 3rd line scores goal

Kobasew works a nice give-n-go with Sutter to score his first goal with the Penguins

    1-0 Penguins

  21. Brandie says:

    Finally, something goes right today!

  22. theplanisworking says:

    Oh, more to come………….

  23. Brandie says:

Keep ripping them. FIRE KOBASEW! Maybe that will help em’ score more!

  24. theplanisworking says:

Who the heck is this #87 guy?????????

    GOAL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    2-0 Good Guys.

  25. Brandie says:

Replaceable? With what? Not Mike Adams… You are more graceful. I think he’ll probably be fired! Can’t collect unemployment…Government is shut down!

  26. Eric Bowser says:

real nice work by Pens in D-zone w/ Kunitz hitting Volchenkov, then Sid-Duper up ice, Sid burns Schneider

    2-0 Pens

  27. Brandie says:

    Dr. Huxtable scores!

  28. Brandie says:

Burned him bad. I can smell it from here…ham with a hint of clove.

  29. theplanisworking says:

You have never seen me stumble out of bed in the morning. Lets just say baby deer are better than I.

But my cousins are the “Fantasia” dancing Hippos.
    Maybe I could take lessons?

  30. Eric Bowser says:

That’s why I want Crosby and Malkin as penalty killers.

  31. Brandie says:

I think them being able to play both sides of the puck is a bonus. This team can score, but if there is no grit on D, Fleury becomes a sieve.

  32. Brandie says:

    FIRE MALKIN…until he scores!

  33. Eric Bowser says:

yikes…. Dupuis played 1:22 of 2:00 PK, that’s way too much for 1 forward to be playing in game one of the regular season.

  34. Brandie says:

    Should we FIRE BYLSMA now?

  35. Milo Hamilton says:

Looks like Neal is done for the night.

  36. Brandie says:

Let me know when…Mama needs a good firin’.

  37. Brandie says:

Yea. It’s better that way. Get that injury dealt with. Please don’t tell me it happened during the Wiffle Ball game or during PT exercises at West Point.

  38. Eric Bowser says:

I’ll have a good idea by November

  39. OldSoldier21 says:

How has Maatta looked on D? Lost or holding his own?

  40. Brent says:

Wow just put on root sports I did not sign up for it but for some reason I have it. Go Pens

  41. JohninOshkosh says:

I’m hoping Bylsma tries to go through the glass partition between coaches at end of the game.

  42. OldSoldier21 says:

Wow is it quiet at Consol! How about a CUE – TO chant or something?

  43. Milo Hamilton says:

  44. Brandie says:

Beau Bennett is bringing the grit tonight. Where is Jandy when you need her?

  45. JohninOshkosh says:

I mowed my lawn in October heat and humidity after watching the Buccos give it up and then came in and watched regular season hockey.

Are these the end days ?

  46. Brandie says:

  47. Brandie says:

    Or the beginning of Nirvana?

  48. OldSoldier21 says:

  49. JohninOshkosh says:

It could be the Rapture. God knows I’ll be left behind.

  50. theplanisworking says:

    You may get left behind,
I will get hit with 1000 lightning bolts, then shot………..

  51. OldSoldier21 says:

I’ve always thought the Pens crowds were a little too quiet for my tastes. Even at the Igloo. Some folks down there looked at me like I was nuts trying to start some Let’s go Pens chants. Actually, that was very perceptive on their part. ;)

  52. Brandie says:

    By Elmer Fudd?

  53. theplanisworking says:

    Why, Yes indeed, Brandie! :)

  54. JohninOshkosh says:

Let’s all sneak into Consol tonight and paint a picture
    of Jagr.

  55. Wild Bill says:

Glad to have hockey back. And it’s a great temporary cure for bad baseball games.

Baseball during hockey season? In Pittsburgh?!

  56. Jandy says:

Sorry, was just very busy. Was watching the Bucs look so sad, and finally gave it up and turned on hockey. At least there’s a game there :)

  57. theplanisworking says:

Since the move to Consol, it sometimes seems like a morgue. Not criticizing, I honestly think the acoustics have something to do with it. Concert people say it is wonderful for them, I wonder if that means it stifles crowd noise.

Or, I could just be rambling incoherently………..

  58. Jandy says:

He took a nasty hit and got knocked on his butt…and got up and went right after the puck….he’s not rattled easily.

  59. Brandie says:

Good to see you. Missed you my friend. Rough day today. This is my bright spot.

  60. theplanisworking says:

Read you went to Carlisle today.

Hershey has something like that, just dont know when.
    Oh, and hello.

We need to cheer up the Muppet.
    I failed, your turn, Jandy.

  61. Jandy says:

They’re missing Cookie on the Penalty Kill already

  62. Jandy says:

    Wassa matter, Brandimal…tell Mother Theresa

  63. Brandie says:

With big hair, a skinny body, and buck teeth! Oh, is that more revisionist history?

  64. theplanisworking says:

We just have to paint it with no bones.
    Remember, he was “dying inside”.

  65. Jandy says:

Ahhh I see…above…silly Brandie, you could never chase Planimal away…he was so disgusted with the Buccos, that’s why he left…I’m sure of it.

  66. Jandy says:

84 degrees in Carlisle today, OshKosh. I was warm, and drinking lots of iced tea lol

  67. Brandie says:

My aunt, my dad’s sister, is dying of cancer. This is the second sibling to have cancer. It’s hospice for her. My dad is heartbroken. I am devastated and feel so bad for him.

Hippo did not fail to cheer me up. We got stuck in a circular argument on the baseball thread. Hippo has been nothing but pi k afford kindness!

  68. Jandy says:

    Amazing isn’t it?

  69. theplanisworking says:

No, bad, bad day for our Muppet.
    Its on the Buc thread.

I left because of trouble. I fed into it, so I apologized to Brandie.
We just need to distract her.

  70. Brandie says:

    Should read pink afroed kindness!

  71. OldSoldier21 says:

If you were rambling incoherently, I was right there with ya. I haven’t made the trip to Consol yet. But, to my ear, it sounds more like a PGA event than a NHL game.

  72. Dom says:

My man Marc Andre with the shutout

  73. Brandie says:

    Playing the world’s smallest violin…

  74. Jandy says:

I am so sorry, Brandie! That is terrible and hard to bear. Lost my Mother to emplysema, and Dad to cancer. Hard to watch a loved one deal with cancer. All you can do is try to be there, especially for your dear Dad. He will need you.

  75. Brandie says:

    That’s as it should be!

  76. Jandy says:

well I wish she had been at Carlisle, when I told this guy trying to get my hubby to buy this Corvette, that *EYE* didn’t like Corvettes so it would be a cold day in he!! when he bought one! ANd that was the end of THAT! ;)

  77. theplanisworking says:

I really do think it has something to do with the concert acoustics. Or not. Or maybe.

  78. Jandy says:

Sending big, huge, warm hugz your way, Sistah!

  79. theplanisworking says:

    You shrinking wallflower you!

  80. Brandie says:

I will do my best. Thank you for your kind words.

  81. Jandy says:

Oh and he chipped the puck away on a sure goal by New jersey….good vision and great hands.

  82. Brandie says:

Olli Maata’s hair looks like a toilet brush.

  83. Jandy says:

I wanna see that kid play on the top two lines.

  84. Jandy says:

    it’s hilarious lol

  85. Jandy says:

I’ll be sending up prayers for ALL of you…

  86. Jandy says:

ha! I just don’t like Corvettes….and that was that lol

  87. theplanisworking says:

    Funny Corvette story for ya……….

When I bought my first “new” car, I had to kill some time. A candy apple red Vette convertible was in the showroom. Salesman said hop in. A 6′ 4″ Hippo trying to squeeze into a Vette.

My eyes were above the windshield. Seriously.

  88. Brandie says:

    Oh Hippo! Smiling here!

  89. Jandy says:

LOL! I wish I had seen that…so…does that mean YOU don’t like Corvettes either???

  90. Jandy says:

    Hey hey, it’s Lad :)

    How you be friend?

  91. Brandie says:

A Corvette fits like a two size too small Corset on him.

  92. Lad 9 says:

Muppet I know this is a bad day for you. And you still have managed to bring sunshine and laughter to the (mostly) good folks on this blog. YOU have made something go right today whether you realize it or not and I think you are awesome! Thank you for being about all that is good! :).

  93. Jandy says:

She always makes people smile on this here blog :)

  94. Jandy says:

  95. Brandie says:

Thank you for your kind words and thanks to you and Jandy both for always making me feel welcomed here.

  96. theplanisworking says:

    Love Vettes!

Especially some of the older Stingray models.

Some of the older paint jobs were wacko. Like banana yellow, lilac purple, sky blue in that “paint fleck” effect. Always have loved them, but Me in one would be like a 20 pound sausage in a 5 pound casing.

  97. Jandy says:

    Always, Sistah…always :)

  98. theplanisworking says:

+ so much, numbers dont do it justice.

  99. theplanisworking says:

    See? I told you I was replaceable…………. ;)

  100. Jandy says:

Well, when you hit the lottery, Hipposter, you can order one special sized just for the sweetest Hippo in the universe :)

  101. Brent says:

How do I get new posts to this blog. Do I need to keep hitting the refresh button?

  102. Jandy says:

Never! Don’t make me get out my size 9 wides :P

  103. theplanisworking says:

    Why thank you, Jandy!

I just dont think they make a Corvette monster truck……………..

  104. theplanisworking says:

  105. Jandy says:

Hi Brent, yes you have to hit refresh….it does not auto refresh.
    Welcome :)

  106. Jandy says:

    That was to easy…

  107. theplanisworking says:

Just put a comment in the “leave a reply” box.

  108. Brent says:

    Thank you

  109. Jandy says:

  111. Jandy says:

I gotta say, Brandon Sutter looks pretty good tonight

  112. OldSoldier21 says:

He has a strong resemblance to Beaker, your co-worker on the Muppets. ;)

  113. Jandy says:

    you’re welcome

  114. Jandy says:

    Howdy, Soldier :)

  115. Milo Hamilton says:

  116. Jandy says:

That might work too Lad lol

  117. Wild Bill says:

Is that a hockey observation, or otherwise?

  118. Jandy says:

    well, I’m sure they can!

  119. Jandy says:

LOL! This one is hockey related ;)

  120. theplanisworking says:

  125. theplanisworking says:

Thats a pretty damn big line……….

  126. Jandy says:

    Don’t worry, we’re up to it ;)

  127. Lad 9 says:

What she said. You are too good on here to be replaceable my friend.

  128. Milo Hamilton says:

Hey Jandy, it’s hockey season. With thunderstorms !

  129. OldSoldier21 says:

Howdy Jandy! Imagine meeting up with you in a hockey thread, shocking – huh? ;)

  130. theplanisworking says:

  131. Jandy says:

The sports world is turned upside down, Milo!

  132. Jandy says:

And Brooksie with some nice hits!

  133. Jandy says:

  143. Jandy says:

Yes, MAF looks pretty decent tonight too

  144. Jandy says:

I was just gonna say that….sistah, you still here???

  145. Wild Bill says:

But not as good as Brandon, right?

  146. Jandy says:

Just a hint, Will Bill, I think Tanger is the hottie on this team ;)

  147. Brent says:

    Nice !!!!!!!!!!!!!

  148. Jandy says:

NICE!! MAF block the penalty shot!!!

  149. OldSoldier21 says:

Fleury say NO and STFD on the penalty shot!!!!!!!!

  150. Wild Bill says:

Those French Canadians have all the luck, or is it something else?

  151. Jandy says:

It’s the hair! I have a soft spot for long hair on a guy…

  152. theplanisworking says:

  156. Jandy says:

Go Bucs tomorrow, and good night all.

  166. Lad 9 says:

    Good night Plan

  167. Wild Bill says:

    Snore well.

  168. Eric Bowser says:

    Game Recap:

The last time we saw goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury starting a hockey game for the Pittsburgh Penguins, he was beaten for six goals by the New York Islanders in game four of their first round series.

On opening night for the 2013-2014 season at Consol Energy Center in Pittsburgh, Fleury stopped all 27 shots notching his 250th career victory and 24th career shutout as the Pittsburgh Penguins defeated the New Jersey Devils 3-0.

For Fleury, it was a relatively easy effort through two periods as the Devils barely mounted a sustained attack as Pittsburgh unveiled their new defensive approach using the 1-3-1 left-wing lock.

On the other end of the ice making his debut for the New Jersey Devils was former Vancouver Canucks goalie Corey Schneider.

The Penguins got to Schneider in the first period at 9:26 as a hard pass from defenseman Matt Niskanen was sent up the ice to winger Beau Bennett on his forehand facing back towards his defensive zone and quickly tapped the puck back to the center of the neutral zone to winger Chuck Kobasew charging up the center of the ice.

Kobasew moved it to center Brandon Sutter and while Sutter sent a wrist shot on net, the Kobasew had the momentum to beat his man to the rebound and easily beat Schneider to score his first goal in a Penguins jersey and more importantly, the 1-0 lead.

Penguins scored again just under 3 minutes later after a solid check along the boards by Chris Kunitz on Anton Volchenkov led to loose puck for Pascal Dupuis that he was able to move over to Sidney Crosby, who wasted little time sending a laser over Schneider.

Neither team did much in the second period and in the third period, Penguins added a third goal from a Craig Adams wrist shot.

After that it was all Fleury as he made an unbelievable save with his glove behind his back, then denied Adam Henrique on a penalty-shot with a right pad denial and finally made another right pad save against Ryane Clowe.

    Game Notes:
    * James Neal left in first period due to upper body injury
    * Rookie defenseman Olli Maatta made NHL debut playing 14:44
    * Paul Martin lead team for TOI with 24:26
    * Rob Scuderi made his return with the Penguins playing 19:42
    * Chris Kunitz led team with 7 hits
    * Sidney Crosby led team with 4 shots
    * Matt Niskanen led team with 5 blocked shots and +2 plus/minus
    * Jaromir Jagr made his Devils debut playing 15:49 with 1 shot

  169. chethejet says:

82 Games for Jaromir will be very tough to play. Nice win for the home, Rename the three stars to the three Stargel stars.
