  1. Drew71 says:

There are some intriguing games today.

    This isn’t one of them.

  2. Jandy says:

    Good morning,, Drewmeister

  3. Brandie says:

    Hello Jandy…Hello Drew-k!

  4. chethejet says:

It is for me. Pitt first season in football in the ACC is offering some nice games. Should be a good game.

  5. theplanisworking says:

    Hola, Senorita Brandalita!

  6. theplanisworking says:

Nun on the Run !! ;)

  7. theplanisworking says:

    Well said.

Pitt has won the past 4 against VT?
    Here is hoping that continues……….

  8. Brandie says:

Happy Hippo Day to you. Good luck yo the Pitt Wits today!

  9. theplanisworking says:

    Happy Hippo Day?
    What on earth is that?

  10. Brandie says:

A day to celebrate all things hippo.

  11. Steve says:

Sez you Drew. I’ll be watching.

  12. theplanisworking says:

    Mercy.

  13. So how about that 1-3-1?

    ;)

  14. That should get some 9-wide action.

Wherever John is, watch out for Northwestern. Glad the Badgers got ‘em at home.

  15. Vette60 says:

We’ll be tuning in here in here in Hokie territory. Looking for Pitt to continue their win streak and always enjoy a Tech loss. No Bucco playoffs to watch with my Dad and son this weekend so we’ll sub my Dad’s alma mater Pitt instead.

    Take care all.

    Randy in RVA.

  16. Jandy says:

    1 – 3 – 1 can’t help a goalie if he’s too slow….
saving the 9 wides to use on the management if help isn’t obtained…

  17. Jandy says:

Enjoy the time with your family, Randy :)

  18. :D

Time to acquire one. Shero can work his miracles now until Vokoun is back, if that day comes.

One good thing to take from that game is, now they’ve seen Zatkoff against NHL competition. Like Plan said, he seems to be AAAA at best.

  19. Missouri-Georgia

    Northwestern-Wisconsin

    OU-Texas

Navy-Duke (threw that in for Groat. Western KY beat Navy, so Duke should have a field day.)

  20. Jandy says:

Yeah Zatkoff won’t cut it. I had high hopes, but no way does he fill in.
Vokoun is out 3 months mimimum. Could be 6 months. No time to waste.

  21. Jandy says:

A shout out to 21sthebest, tomorrow is his birthday. Have a good one :)

  22. Ditto.

    Celebrate responsibly.

    8-)

  23. Drew71 says:

Just back from a wonderful time at the Walk to End Alzheimer’s.

Bright sunny and 64 degrees at walk time.

Advocacy alert: One of the six leading causes of death (that surprises some people), the only one today without any current chance of cure (another hmmm thought). Though the science and research has advanced dramatically over the past five years.

    Thanks to all who supported.

    Ok. It’s a sports blog.

So how bout that Ole Miss / T A&M game? (Adding that to Lucky’s list.)

The OU-Texas game brings a whole lot off issues (Mack Brown) that make it interesting even if the game turns into a laugher. Again. And, while not at the top of my list of candidates, OU is my sleeper pick this year for BCS contention.

Now that I wrote that, watch em lose today. Honestly. I think I have Dejan’s affliction.

  24. Jandy says:

    Another incurable disease.
    Dejan’s Affliction.

    Seriously tho, Alzheimer’s is horrible.
So is Autism, when it’s severe.

We can put man on the moon, but we can’t find cures.

  25. OU will be OK (no pun intended, believe me), Drew.

    Ole Miss-T A&M?

    Jandy

  26. All OU and the Steelers have to do is employ the 1-3-1. No more defensive problems.

    Oh, wait………..

  27. Well, no Bucco or Buckeye games today to bite my fingernails over, so yinz have a great day.

I’ll be pullin for PSU, Pitt and KY (not to give up more than 50) over Alabama.

No Bobby Petrino game today, either.

On to yard work, etc., etc.

See ya’all on the 1-3-1 thread this eve.

    Easy, Rev……………

  30. theplanisworking says:

“Remember – When you play Pittsburgh, you play every person on this blog and in the city. ”

Take THAT Wall Street Journal !!!!

  31. theplanisworking says:

I have a birthday next month.

    I like black forest cake……………. ;)

  32. Jandy says:

    Wake up Spunky!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  33. Jandy says:

    What day, Hipposter?

  34. Jandy says:

    Indeed, hopefully soon…

  35. My wife is a cake baker and caterer. Just gave one to a lady at the door.

    I’ll ship you one.

  36. Jandy says:

Guys,I gotta go. Work to be done. Hope to catch you soon. Have a wonderful day :)

  37. theplanisworking says:

Lucky I appreciate the thought, but the last thing I need is a cake.

But, if you want to ship Kate Upton to me, its the 14th………. ;)

  38. Drew71 says:

I didn’t put the Gators-Rednecks game on the list.

    Both SEC. Both ranked.

But I don’t think the Gators questionable offense will hold up in Death Valley. In fact, though it will break my son’s Gator heart, I don’t think it will be close.

  39. JohninOshkosh says:

I don’t like all this bolding go on.

Bold ought to be reserved for our leader. Plus when I scroll down my phone quickly, it makes me think Dejan has dropped a comment.

    Just my 2 cents. :)

Gave my Wisconsin tickets to family so I’ll be monitoring the Pitt game. Also, like that Missouri/Georgia match up. Red River shootout is always fun. One of these days I gotta get to the Texas State Fair. Looks like a blast.

    Oh, Go Pitt.

  40. Arriba Wilver says:

Intriguing to me. I’m a UVA and Pitt alum. My one daughter is a VT alum. I love Pitt’s move to the ACC. Although my daughter was a little insulted when we went to the Pitt-VT game here last year and I rooted for Pitt. Of course Shell ripped them apart and Pitt’s defense did a good job on VT’s QB.

  41. JohninOshkosh says:

Gotta find an answer to covering Cline today. Gotta avoid the big plays.

  42. Arriba Wilver says:

She actually drove from Charleston, SC to be at the game today. I think she wants revenge.

  43. E-mail me your address. I’ll see what I can do.

    jepreach@yahoo.com

  44. How about a bold reaming?

    :D

  45. She may git it. That’s a weak conference in some ways.

  46. Lad 9 says:

    LET’S GO PITT!

  47. theplanisworking says:

    :D

  48. JohninOshkosh says:

    Hahaha.

I hope you took my opinion in good spirit. It was intended to be light. Of things I concern myself with, it ranks elevently billionth.

  49. Drew71 says:

We’ll call it a Wisconsin Reaming.

  50. JohninOshkosh says:

    +

  51. florida steeler says:

The Steelers offensive line showed up in Blacksburg, Va. today. Illegal procedure and Savage getting killed.

  52. JohninOshkosh says:

Really like Mack Brown as a human. Hope Texas continues with this whoopin’ of the Sooners.

Pitt down by 7 at the break. Virginia Tech gets the ball to start the third quarter.

  53. Arriba Wilver says:

    Looking forward to basketball. ;-)

  54. Milo Hamilton says:

Adam Bisnowaty continues to impersonate a revolving door at Macy’s. Please put a tight end over there already.

  55. So, you are preaching abstinence?

  56. JohninOshkosh says:

Is there anyway to get Jordy Mercer into the Pitt lineup ? THAT would spice up these Pitt threads!

  57. Drew71 says:

So OU scores a late 2nd Q TD to narrow the gap to 20-10.

    What did I tell you??

    I have Predictacevic Syndrome.

(Bold was for Oshie. Something needs to warm him up. It’s probably snowing up there.)

  58. Arriba Wilver says:

I’ve always had a lot of respect for Frank Beamer.

  59. Lad 9 says:

Can’t get off the field on third down.

  60. JohninOshkosh says:

    Thanks, Drew.

well done on the walk this morning. I used to work at a retirement home. Sad stuff and very hard on the families. So anything to fight that scourge is a good thing.

  61. Lad 9 says:

Same here AW. Wonderful coach and seems like a good guy. Really gets cranky when he loses, which I kind of like.

  62. JohninOshkosh says:

    +1

  63. Lad 9 says:

    + many

  64. JohninOshkosh says:

Again, Pitt is burned by a big play. Did well to keep it to a field goal. Now lets see them answer with points.

  65. JohninOshkosh says:

I recommend people check out deadspin.com today. Good stuff about Jason Grilli joining Pearl Jam on stage at Pittsburgh concert. Also, nice column about how Cardinals fans suck.

I’ll warn you. Like most things with Deadspin articles: language!

  66. florida steeler says:

There cannot be a worse offensive line anywhere as bad as Pitt’s.

  67. Check on the other side of the UPMC Training Site on the South Side.

  68. J Walter Weatherman says:

It cannot be overstated how awesome Aaron Donald has been. Simply can’t be blocked one-on-one and keeps playing hard, even though this game is not winnable.

The obvious has been stated above – the O-line is a train wreck. Can’t really blame play calling or QB play too much, when they are getting annihilated at the point of attack, with only 4 people rushing the QB at one time.

  69. J Walter Weatherman says:

Savage could easily have been sacked 15 times in this game. He is showing some Ben-like Houdini escapability. The problem is that he doesn’t have Ben’s improv skills.

  70. florida steeler says:

Excellent response–maybe they showed up in Blacksburg today???

  71. I think we’ve contracted the Kovacevic Syndrome, Drew. I thought OU would roll.
