Posted this on the other thread but:

Forbes lists the Penguins franchise value at $480 million dollars, 8th in the NHL.

Toronto is number one at $1.2 Billion dollars.

  3. buggee says:

Looking forward to this game! I decided to remain at home instead of following the team around. Everywhere I watched them outside of home, they lost. Dat’s ’nuff a dat. I concluded in my purely logical half-brain that I was jinxing the team.

    Etch it yinz jagoffs

  4. Pucknutz says:

Ya I was slacking – but too much whining if I don ‘t let you go first! :)

  6. Pucknutz says:

What – nobody watchin this game ?????
Prolly figuring out the 40 man rosters and stuff. :)

DK: I’m watching through a throbbing headache from another round of root canal today.

    Does that count?

  7. theplanisworking says:

I just watched a turnover and soft goal given up.
    Does that count?

  8. Pucknutz says:

LOL – Ya DK – you are a PRO !!
Don’t even wanna say “root canal” – make me shudder !!!

  9. scapper says:

Boy, James Neal really hustled back to help on that play, didn’t he? He was doing the Ovie Coast.

  10. Pucknutz says:

Actually missed that , was slowlwy typing a reply..
But… if you say it was sofffff – good enough for me! lol

  11. theplanisworking says:

  12. Where’s Jandy? The pit bull have a baby or something?

And Sarah must have a game of her own.

  13. theplanisworking says:

    Not the best start.
    Nobody on Smith there…………………. unreal.

  14. hockeymonster says:

    Cuz you’re a hockey writer …

DK: What a period, huh? Total domination for the first 12 minutes, then snap your fingers and they’re down, 2-0.

  15. Pucknutz says:

Unreal … cummon Plan give the opposition a little bit of credit ….
Tic-tac-toe tape to tape, one time slam… Ya unreal … nice play – bad guys!

  16. Sarah says:

    I’m here.
These are the teams we need to beat in the spring.
    Can we?

  17. hockeymonster says:

Ya they lost focus after good effort. We need some center lane drive on our rushes so we have a chance at rebound at net.

  18. theplanisworking says:

Oh, no doubt great play by the Broons.

But look at the replay…….. not one single Penguin on the weak side at all. Great play, bad D.

    Come on, Puckz…………

  19. Sarah says:

    Same ole fish Peeps.
    Early domination, zero goals.

Couple eff ups, in our net….

  20. hockeymonster says:

Anyone hear good reason why megna and/or harry z isn’t playing in place of sill and/or gibby?

  21. Sarah says:

No idea. Not enough Engelland to go around i guess.

  22. theplanisworking says:

  23. theplanisworking says:

    Fish Peeps?

    Is that like filet-o-fish?

  24. Rbilak says:

    1. Trend, Pens outplay team early, fail to score, fall behind.

    2. Sill over Menga? Really do not understand. What did he do except play well and look like a future NHL player.

    3. The biggest difference in teams is watching 3rd and 4 th lines. Bruins lines have a clear role and purpose for those lines and players who fit them. Yes injuries are a part but, other than Adams and Glass players do not fit. Sutter is a major disappointment to me, not strong and loses a lot of face offs at key times.

    4. Letang looks putrid.

    5. The organization does not have the best talent playing or on the current roster. The love for Nisskanen amazes me. Not that I don’t think he is trying but when Playoff teams like the Bruins go into the corner with him, he is simply too small to come up with the puck. Tonight 2nd goal was a direct result of that. To me, Harry Z would be up here on a line with Glass now. Menga over Sill any day of the week. Bortuzzo all day over #5 or Nisky. Pens are way too easy to play against.

  25. Eric Bowser says:

    Blah period.

    Shoot, shoot, shoot… no goals.

And as usual, 2 scoring chances and 2 goals for Boston. How many more times does this have to happen before you start to realize this team’s leadership and coaching not getting it done in those situations.

Can we see more traffic in front of Rask?

Orpik having a brutal game, Martin and Adams not exactly helping matters on the PK with their slow rotation.

In case you were wondering, yes the Penguins dressed 18 skaters and 2 goalies. You might not be able to notice that with the no-nothings playing.

Shero’s draft and development program being exposed and that was before all the injuries, now losing Bennett and Glass are going to hurt.

  26. poz says:

I am not the astute hockey study, however, this game looks like the pattern I’ve seen on occasion this year. Pens come out strong, have chances, but don’t score. Opposition gets a chance and Pens are down after a period. As fans, we are left wondering, “What happened?”

I suspect the team is thinking the same.

I will watch, because I do, to see how the team responds.

Sometimes it’s the grit that’s needed with the talent. Do the Pens have it?

  27. Eric Bowser says:

The Real Deal James Neal with a nasty shot to beat Rask.

  28. Eric Bowser says:

Losing Glass hurts as he’s the lone bottom six winger that seemed to be playing to his potential this year. I don’t think the Pens have gotten consistent play from the others (Sutter, Vitale, Adams).

  29. scapper says:

I find myself saying that about Orpik more and more, but I don’t trust my observations because I’ve seen only one live game so far, and that’s where you can really tell. Still, I find myself often wondering just what the heck is up with his game. Finally wearing down? Age? Or again, maybe I’m unfairly picking on him based only on what little I can see on TV.

  30. Jandy says:

Brooksie is having a bad game.

  31. Jandy says:

    Not often and not enough.

  32. Jandy says:

Glass will be missed more than most think.

  33. Jandy says:

  34. Jandy says:

She’s fixed Spunky….now that would be a miracle lol

  35. Jandy says:

We need to stop playing pretty and get some “dirty” goals.

  36. Jandy says:

    Dejan for the Hart Trophy!

  37. Jandy says:

  38. theplanisworking says:

    You tell ‘em!!

  39. Jandy says:

They’re friggin’ pissin’ me off GrrRrr!

  40. hockeymonster says:

Catching game on nesn and they’re giving pens lots of credit for defense in neutral zone and speed they’re generating. Now all we need is a greasy goal in front of net.

  41. Milo Hamilton says:

Pens averaging 2.83 goals per game. I want to say that’s unacceptable but it’s 7th best. This league is a mess.

  42. Jandy says:

    That’s what I’m talkin’ about!!!!

  43. Jandy says:

  44. theplanisworking says:

    There’s a shock, huh Jandy? ;)

I have the best solution…….. I switched over to the Pitt game, and I am so glad i did.
Pitt leading 41-18 at the half.

  45. Jandy says:

    Nah I’m a diehard, Hipposter…

  46. theplanisworking says:

As a Pitt alumnus, I would be remiss if I didnt at least flip the channels. With the exasperating play of the Pens, the decision became so much easier.

But I will flip back to the Pens during commerciuals. :)

And you being a diehard is a good thing.
    Dont change.
Just quit biting the newbies. ;)

  47. Jandy says:

You are such a total brat. But I <3 you anyway :)

  48. theplanisworking says:

    HA !!!!!

  49. Brandie says:

Not til he performs his own root canal during an actual game!

  50. Jandy says:

    LOL! Good evening, Sistah!

  51. Brandie says:

Listening to the game. I could care less that the Pens have more shots! Where are the points, man?

  52. Jandy says:

Exactly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Shots don’t win the game, goals do!

  53. theplanisworking says:

Is that like where’s the beef?

  54. Jandy says:

    kinda sorta

  55. J Walter Weatherman says:

The biggest issue with the Pens is that their 3rd and 4th lines are mediocre, at best, and probably closer to a disaster. When we’re talking about the merits of Sill, Megna, Engelland, Harry Z, etc. – that’s the problem. Those guys are borderline NHLers and none of them would sniff the Bruins roster.

Remember when the Pens had Staal, Cooke, and Kennedy on the 3rd line? Yeah, compare that to this year’s team.

Boston is a better team top to bottom and will be the team to beat in the East. Once again, it will be on Shero to fill in the voids at the trade deadline.

  56. Milo Hamilton says:

    Neal shoots high.

  57. Brandie says:

  58. Brandie says:

Exactly. I want grit, grease, and GOALS!

  59. Jandy says:

    woop woop!

  60. theplanisworking says:

  61. Brandie says:

    Book em Plan-O!

  62. theplanisworking says:

    Evenin’, Missy.
Hope you are enjoying the game…….. I have to get new batteries for my remote.

Hope you are doing well also.

  63. Brandie says:

  64. theplanisworking says:

Looked like a Sid own goal.

    As Jandy says………… poop.

  65. Purple Moose says:

Is Letang contributing anything offensively the last month or earning any of his contract?

  66. hockeymonster says:

Engo’s horrible pass up ice that led to icing caused 3 GA. Bet he plays next game too…

  67. Milo Hamilton says:

    Um, no.

  68. Jandy says:

    holy crap

  69. Purple Moose says:

  70. theplanisworking says:

    WOW !!!!!!!!!!!!!

    What a goal!!!
    0.2 seconds left!

    WOW !!!!!!!!!!!!

  71. Brandie says:

    Special kind of crap!

  72. Brandie says:

    Crosby! Kunitz! OT!

  73. Milo Hamilton says:

    Well now.

  74. hockeymonster says:

    Greasy goal at 19:59.08

  75. Jandy says:

    I love dirty goals

  76. Lad 9 says:

    O T !!

  77. Milo Hamilton says:

Like I told the Pitt people :), it’s Brandon Sutter time.

  78. Milo Hamilton says:

    Or not.

  79. Jandy says:

    these guys drive me nuts

  80. theplanisworking says:

Told ya I would be back, and as soon as I did, they scored. ;)

And just like that, Pens lose.

So, for scorekeeping at home, I take responsibility for the tying goal, the losing goal is Jandy’s fault.

  81. Brandie says:

    That was anticlimactic. :-(

  82. theplanisworking says:

We always appreciate your posts, Milo, even on the wrong thread. :)

  83. Eric Bowser says:

    Great to get a point.

What a pathetic defensive effort by Crosby tonight and that OT goal, Krug was his man.

  84. Milo Hamilton says:

    Quick & painless I guess.

  85. Brandie says:

I will still give a hearty shout it to…

  86. Jandy says:

  87. theplanisworking says:

    Hee hee hee.

  88. Jandy says:

you’d think Fleury could make a save once in a while…

  89. theplanisworking says:

Oh well, like baseball……… you win 28, lose 28, its the middle 28 thats makes your season.

    Thats hockey I guess.

Incredible goal at .02 seconds to get a point. Thats what matters.

  90. DJ says:

Need to win face-offs in the D-zone. Bergeron ate Sid for lunch tonight.

Not terribly surprising they did not have Sid take the last OT face-off. Sutter “won” that one, trickles to right and then we lose it along the wall. Zero quick reaction by Pens.

Might be the worst game of the season for Orpik. Won’t say “of the year” because I remember him the playoffs last spring. Love the man, but all good things come to an end.

  91. DJ says:

Flower slightly off his angle (to the right) on the last one, but then again you cannot have Krug striding 15-18 feet into a slapshot without being impeded in any way.

Little chance to save that last one as it was, and zero chance to save it once Fleury slightly off his angle.

  92. hockeymonster says:

Looked like krug was sid’s responsibility. Need to see replay but looked like sid went for a skate instead of staying on krug.

Center drive plays to the net and cross corner murphy dumps are 2 things I would work on.

  93. DJ says:

Seems we’re always wishfully thinking we might catch lightning in a bottle with our 3rd and 4th line forwards.

The names change, but their play does not.

  94. hockeymonster says:

Good call Eric. Thanks for confirming what I thought I saw. Maybe conditioning is still an issue?

  95. hockeymonster says:

I mean team conditioning not specific to crosby who plays a ton.

  96. hockeymonster says:

Oops meant 3rd GA. And with glass out why isn’t Engo playing forward with bortuzzo getting playing time?
