Tough times make tough teams come Stanley Cup time

  2. LETS GO PENS!!!

  3. Talk about under the deadline.

    Lets go Pens.
And, I wont evn fire Bylsma, because he is doing a good job, navigating thru all these injuries/suspensions.

Which I believe I called the Engelland suspension.

  4. Not much a fan of the Mother Ship but this is a good article on the current state of the Pens.

    http://espn.go.com/nhl/story/_/id/10155458/nhl-pittsburgh-penguins-somehow-dealing-all-injuries

  5. Hipposter, Bodacious, DodKong, Jandstar, Rob, Strictly Bizrow, Nutzie!

  6. Bah, hoping for Duper to get that first goal tonight

  7. Discipline NHL style:

Hit to head, looking accidental……….. 5 game suspension.

Grab from benind, slewfoot to ice, punch while unconscious, not in the play, basically assault…………. 15 game suspension. Which is being appealed.

Yep, the NHL is getting it right with their “justice”, eh?

    • I don’t have as much of a problem with Engo’s 5 games, as I do with Thornton’s 15…not nearly enough…

      • Agreed, Blogmother !
Plan- sorry to say , even though I agree w/ya – you are beatin a dead horse – becoming yesterdays news – no surprise.
The appeal – I am thinkin someone just wants to test the new arbitration agreement. Bettman HAS to back Shanny. If the NHLPA wants to push this one – well they got some big ones. (pure assault ect.) This one has no traction IMHO going to a arb. But…… if they would win … hmmm.

    • What I do not understand is with every waffling non-decision by Shamwow and the gang, the NHL is giving further proof they don’t give a dayum about player safety, more master slave mentality. They are giving further credence to those bringing the concussion lawsuits by allowing the traveshamockery that is manufactured fighting for some fake testosterone induced code to continue!

      • They are pretending to be concerned because of the concussion lawsuit. But they arent smart enough to do it right.

The problem with the disciplinary actions start at the very top.

Neanderthal owners, GM’s, Bettman, Shammy, and even the players. Tough to change the thinking of over 100 years.

      • If there was no money in hockey fighting and if the fans really and truly didn’t want it, the NHL would then get rid of it in a heartbeat, no question about that.

      • Braindie -” Follow the Money”
NHL has to block lawsuit’s etc $$$ –they tread very carefully. Need to be very consistent and justify every move. They do give a dayum about player safety – albeit from a different perspective.
The NHLPA has to back their guys – right or wrong – $$$$’s again – knock 2-3 games off a suspension – player don’t take as big a hit $$’s.
As far as the “code” – both sides are way behind the times!

  8. They retired Adam graves # in MSG?
His greatest accomplishment was slashing Mario’s hand.
    What a joke……….

  9. Going to be tough to keep this up… Crosby and Kunitz, then a bunch of ham-n-eggers. The young defensemen are playing well. Great to see with Orpik and Niskanen heading to free agency after the season and the team needs to get some cap space to improve the depth chart at forward.

  10. Another period, another solid performance by all those young defensemen and even better goaltending by Marc-Andre Fleury.

    MVP should be Fleury.

  11. 5 games is a joke. Some of the recent 2 gamers have been much more malicious. Abdelkader even clearly said Engo was no way targeting his head.

  12. SO many missed chances, I hope they don’t come back to bite the Pens in the butt…

  13. Dupuis with a penalty…Ol’ 29er fit to be tied!

  14. Is this the Riverhounds thread?

    0-0 halfway through.

  15. Great effort by Vitale…and great save by Flower!

  16. KUNITZ !!!!!!!!!!!!!

WOOP WOOP FOR CAMEL DAY !!!!!!!!!!!!

  17. Woohoo, Kunitz!!

  18. Penalty on Harry Z, Really?

  19. Nisky looked pretty good on the point there!

  20. If season ended tonight, Bylsma is Coach of the Year.

  21. Settle boys, settle — Sid will work his magic in the third!

  22. Woohoo, go Gunners!!

  23. Good evening all. Ready for a good third period?

  24. DUPER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    WOOP WOOP !!!!!!!

  25. “Hi, I’m new to this hockey thing. Can someone please tell me what good hockey is?”

“Here, check out this clip. Watch 9, 14 and 87. This is what great hockey is all about.”

    Wow. That whole sequence….just beautiful.

  26. Harry Z Getting Time In The Sin Bin!

  27. OMG!!!!!!!!!!

    SUTTER !!!!!!!!!!

  28. SUTTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  29. Sutter scoops and scores!

  30. Sutter with the Fluffer Nutter!

  31. Toe drag to the backhand – who da thunk it! Sutter!!!!

  32. Rangers will be getting a little cranky about now – careful out there.

  33. Sure didn’t need a penalty now.

  34. Are we this good on defense, or do the Rangers just reek?

  35. Is this Matta kid for real! Wow, so cool for a rookie!!

  36. Matador defense == soft goal.

1 step forward, 1 step back.

  37. Nuts. Not Flower’s best work.

  38. Really bad penalty.

  39. Vintage Penguins under DD. Gain a third period lead then sit back and try not to lose instead of keeping the pedal down and trying to win or put the opponent away. Run a DVR replay and see how much time was spent in the offensive zone in the third period – I know it was less than 2:00 in the final 10 of the period. Dodged a bullet on Monday but got it right in the heart tonight

  40. Kunitz with the penalty. Let us hand the Rangers the game?

  41. Horrible call on Kunitz. Lundquist buys a call.

  42. i’m going to bed…4am comes too fast…night!

  43. 4 on 3 – tougher kill – good job!

  44. Sutter wins it!!!

  45. Justice is served!

Good game, Pens almost blew it, but Sutter wins it for the 2 points.

Pens with the best record in the Eastern Conference.

  46. Last step – forward !!!!

  47. Sutter gettin it done.

  48. And the Flower bloomed in OT.

  49. Well, at least James Neal will be back after serving his suspension, and the Pens won all 5 games despite that, and, hopefully, he can help the Pens beat the Minnesota Wild tonight while Derek Engelland serves his suspension. Anyhow, the baby Pens have been a big help in this emergency, and we can all be grateful for that.
