Tough times make tough teams come Stanley Cup time

  2. Pucknutz says:

    LETS GO PENS!!!

  3. theplanisworking says:

    Talk about under the deadline.

    Lets go Pens.
And, I wont evn fire Bylsma, because he is doing a good job, navigating thru all these injuries/suspensions.

Which I believe I called the Engelland suspension.

  4. Barb says:

Yes you did my fine hippo.

  5. Rob says:

Not much a fan of the Mother Ship but this is a good article on the current state of the Pens.

    http://espn.go.com/nhl/story/_/id/10155458/nhl-pittsburgh-penguins-somehow-dealing-all-injuries

  6. theplanisworking says:

    Evening, Barb.

    Need to beat Lunqvist tonight.
He is always tough against the Pens.

  7. Barb says:

I think they need to rush the net and keep whacking away hoping that a puck finds its way in.

  8. Jandy says:

Hi Rob, nice to see you again :)

  9. Dodkong says:

    It is a good read.

There was also an interesting story on Ryan McDonagh a day or so ago. Sounds like a guy that any team would love to have on it.

  10. Jandy says:

    Hey hey, Hipposter and Bodacious!

  11. Barb says:

    Hello Mother dear.

  12. Brandie says:

Hipposter, Bodacious, DodKong, Jandstar, Rob, Strictly Bizrow, Nutzie!

  13. Jandy says:

    Sistah!!

  14. Dodkong says:

    Hi Brandie

  15. Dodkong says:

Bah, hoping for Duper to get that first goal tonight

  16. Rob says:

    Nice to be here again.

  17. theplanisworking says:

    Discipline NHL style:

Hit to head, looking accidental……….. 5 game suspension.

Grab from benind, slewfoot to ice, punch while unconscious, not in the play, basically assault…………. 15 game suspension. Which is being appealed.

Yep, the NHL is getting it right with their “justice”, eh?

  18. Brandie says:

I like Dupuis…no nonsense with him. Solid effort night in, night out.

  19. Jandy says:

    Truth, Brandie!

  20. theplanisworking says:

They retired Adam graves # in MSG?
His greatest accomplishment was slashing Mario’s hand.
    What a joke……….

  21. Eric Bowser says:

Going to be tough to keep this up… Crosby and Kunitz, then a bunch of ham-n-eggers. The young defensemen are playing well. Great to see with Orpik and Niskanen heading to free agency after the season and the team needs to get some cap space to improve the depth chart at forward.

  22. Jandy says:

    I don’t have as much of a problem with Engo’s 5 games, as I do with Thornton’s 15…not nearly enough…

  23. Dodkong says:

And my pick for the Pens Predictor tonight!! ;)

  24. Jandy says:

hey, Eric! Is your better half getting healthy yet? ;)

  25. Eric Bowser says:

still hacking up her lung….. thanks for asking.

  26. Jandy says:

Makes him a hero in their eyes lol

  27. Brandie says:

What I do not understand is with every waffling non-decision by Shamwow and the gang, the NHL is giving further proof they don’t give a dayum about player safety, more master slave mentality. They are giving further credence to those bringing the concussion lawsuits by allowing the traveshamockery that is manufactured fighting for some fake testosterone induced code to continue!

  28. Jandy says:

well, that stinks…you need to take better care of her :D

  29. Brandie says:

Greetings Eric B. Sorry your dear one is under the weather!

  30. Jandy says:

    indeed!

  31. Brandie says:

Let’s see if you are tonight’s hockey psychic!

  32. Eric Bowser says:

Of course… “honey, you can relax in bed and I’ll take the big screen tv in the living room to watch the hockey game.”

  33. theplanisworking says:

They are pretending to be concerned because of the concussion lawsuit. But they arent smart enough to do it right.

The problem with the disciplinary actions start at the very top.

Neanderthal owners, GM’s, Bettman, Shammy, and even the players. Tough to change the thinking of over 100 years.

  34. Eric Bowser says:

Hello Brandie, just strep throat…. she’ll survive.

Now if it was a 24 or 48 hour case of losing her voice… I’m ok with that. lol.

  35. theplanisworking says:

You sem to have much bad luck with your family’s health.

Sending a speedy recovery your family’s way.

  36. Eric Bowser says:

Another period, another solid performance by all those young defensemen and even better goaltending by Marc-Andre Fleury.

    MVP should be Fleury.

  37. Jandy says:

    so far, for sure…

  38. Eric Bowser says:

There’s always something going on. I’m just happy Perry’s going on 7 weeks without any vomiting so we’re definitely on the upswing there. 3 more weeks and he’ll be off the medicine.

My daughter is the only one who seems to be healthy, though she had a fever for a few days this past week.

  39. Pucknutz says:

    Agreed, Blogmother !
Plan- sorry to say , even though I agree w/ya – you are beatin a dead horse – becoming yesterdays news – no surprise.
The appeal – I am thinkin someone just wants to test the new arbitration agreement. Bettman HAS to back Shanny. If the NHLPA wants to push this one – well they got some big ones. (pure assault ect.) This one has no traction IMHO going to a arb. But…… if they would win … hmmm.

  40. hockeymonster says:

5 games is a joke. Some of the recent 2 gamers have been much more malicious. Abdelkader even clearly said Engo was no way targeting his head.

  41. Rob says:

Maybe the Pens should retire Ulf’s number the next time Boston is in town.

  42. Dodkong says:

Prior histories, or lack thereof, adjusting things, maybe?

  43. theplanisworking says:

    ++++++

But Bettman would suspend Mario for that.
    5 games……..

  44. theplanisworking says:

However, what was Engelland thinking doing that the day Thornton’s suspension was announced? He had to know the refs would be looking extra hard at that sort of thing……………….

  45. Rob says:

    Or Ulf’s son.

  46. Jandy says:

it’s flu season, and the kids pass germs around in school. there’s no winning.

  47. Brandie says:

Maybe they should retire Ulf’s # in Boston!

  48. If there was no money in hockey fighting and if the fans really and truly didn’t want it, the NHL would then get rid of it in a heartbeat, no question about that.

  49. Brandie says:

    Being hella careless and stupid!

  50. Brandie says:

    Good news on Perry!

  51. Jandy says:

SO many missed chances, I hope they don’t come back to bite the Pens in the butt…

  52. theplanisworking says:

    Agreed, Muppet.

  53. Dodkong says:

Hockey is a fast game, sometimes collisions like that happen.

  54. Brandie says:

Once the damages are awarded from the concussion lawsuits, there will be no money in hockey, period!

  55. Brandie says:

Dupuis with a penalty…Ol’ 29er fit to be tied!

  56. Pucknutz says:

    Braindie -” Follow the Money”
NHL has to block lawsuit’s etc $$$ –they tread very carefully. Need to be very consistent and justify every move. They do give a dayum about player safety – albeit from a different perspective.
The NHLPA has to back their guys – right or wrong – $$$$’s again – knock 2-3 games off a suspension – player don’t take as big a hit $$’s.
As far as the “code” – both sides are way behind the times!

  57. hockeymonster says:

He was bracing for contact while playing his position. Unfortunately abdelkader leaned in and result was bad. But neals knee was much more malicious and some of recent suspensions for head shots were only 2 games. Just pointing out inconsistencies known as shamminess.

  58. hockeymonster says:

    :)

  59. Is this the Riverhounds thread?

    0-0 halfway through.

  60. Brandie says:

A lot of things just seem inconsistent to me. Thank you for giving me that perspective Monstar!

  61. Jandy says:

Great effort by Vitale…and great save by Flower!

  62. Pucknutz says:

    Nice kill

  63. Brandie says:

Just another day at the office!

  64. Pucknutz says:

Nah – let his kid wear it !!

  65. Dodkong says:

I haven’t followed all the suspensions, but if they were first time offenders, then 2 games is the standard. Neal has a history of being suspended. That’s the way it works.

Personally I think Neal should have gotten 10 games.

  66. theplanisworking says:

    KUNITZ !!!!!!!!!!!!!

WOOP WOOP FOR CAMEL DAY !!!!!!!!!!!!

  67. Dodkong says:

    Woohoo, Kunitz!!

  68. Brandie says:

    KUMITZ!

    For you Plan!

  69. Jandy says:

    no, it’s th3 1-3-1 thread ;)

  70. Brandie says:

    Penalty on Harry Z, Really?

  71. I wasn’t gonna mention that it must be working tonight. But it must be.

  72. Pucknutz says:

Nisky looked pretty good on the point there!

  73. theplanisworking says:

As long as it isnt another baseball thread, all will be well.

  74. Barb says:

That’s what you get for throwing snowballs at the goalie!

  75. theplanisworking says:

    SCIRE !!!!!

  76. Travis Ishikawa-our new platoon first baseman.

    Hi DK.

    ;)

  77. Brandie says:

He should try catching snowballs with his face!

  78. Jandy says:

    Really???

  79. Brandie says:

    Thanks for the update.

  80. JohninOshkosh says:

If season ended tonight, Bylsma is Coach of the Year.

  81. theplanisworking says:

    HA!

  82. Brandie says:

    Good Evening Wisconsin’s Finest!

  83. Pucknutz says:

Settle boys, settle — Sid will work his magic in the third!

  84. theplanisworking says:

    Either him, or Boudreau.

DK has improved much this year.
    Playoffs still the key.

  85. Dodkong says:

    Woohoo, go Gunners!!

  86. theplanisworking says:

    UM, DB, not DK.

    Curse you Jandy !!! ;)

  87. Brandie says:

    Write that script Pucknutz!

  88. Brandie says:

    Darius Kasparitis?

  89. JohninOshkosh says:

Hey Brandie! Finished my Christmas shopping tonight. Made my yearly awkward visit to the Macy’s fragrance department.

  90. Jandy says:

    bahahaha!

  91. hockeymonster says:

I believe Neal was beyond his probational period. But other suspensions for Phaneuf and Clarkson were 2 games and IMO more careless and malicious.

  92. Brandie says:

    Sorry…Pucknutz!

  93. scapper says:

Whoooooaaa there everyone! I loved Ulf. Still do. Pens don’t win those 2 Cups without him. And while the hit on Neely was “legal,” let’s face it, it was knee-to-knee. It was cheap, and it ruined Neely’s career.

I don’t think we should be so glib about this. Neely was a guy that Pens fans would have LOVED on our team. What happened to him was…well, if that happened to Sid or Geno, I think we’d still be incensed 20 years later about it.

Imagine if Steckels elbow had pretty much ended Sid’s career. I don’t think anyone would appreciate snide comments years later about it.

  94. Jandy says:

    I agree!

  95. scapper says:

    Bowser seconds that!

  96. Pucknutz says:

I feel good about this one Brandie – win or lose the boys are playen pretty gritty. Not perfect – but I love seein the youngsters gettin some ice time. And Sid… well shades of Mario pop in my mind… just has the smoke to take over a game if necessary.

  97. Jandy says:

haha scapper, don’t be takin’ Eric’s name in vain ;)

  98. Brandie says:

That experience will come in quite handy down the road! :-)

  99. Wild Bill says:

Good evening all. Ready for a good third period?

  100. theplanisworking says:

    DUPER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    WOOP WOOP !!!!!!!

  101. Brandie says:

    DUPUIS! GOOD JOB DODKONG!

  102. Brandie says:

    Hello Oh Free Range One!

  103. Wild Bill says:

    That’s the top line!

  104. Pucknutz says:

Perhaps a “blessing in disguise” – young guys gettin some REAL ice time -come Stanley Cup Springtime may pay some dividends.

  105. scapper says:

“Hi, I’m new to this hockey thing. Can someone please tell me what good hockey is?”

“Here, check out this clip. Watch 9, 14 and 87. This is what great hockey is all about.”

    Wow. That whole sequence….just beautiful.

  106. Wild Bill says:

    Howdy, Brandie!

  107. Brandie says:

Harry Z Getting Time In The Sin Bin!

  108. theplanisworking says:

    OMG!!!!!!!!!!

    SUTTER !!!!!!!!!!

  109. Jandy says:

    SUTTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  110. Wild Bill says:

    Sutter scoops and scores!

  111. Brandie says:

    Sutter with the Fluffer Nutter!

  112. theplanisworking says:

    Indeed.

  113. Jandy says:

    nice moves!

  114. Pucknutz says:

Toe drag to the backhand – who da thunk it! Sutter!!!!

  115. Not in a raccoon’s age.

  116. Brandie says:

    Excellent Hip Hop!

  117. Wild Bill says:

Rangers will be getting a little cranky about now – careful out there.

  118. Brandie says:

    With ya on that!

  119. Jandy says:

Send Borts out to settle ‘em!

  120. Wild Bill says:

Sure didn’t need a penalty now.

  121. theplanisworking says:

    That is still very funny!

  122. theplanisworking says:

One step forward, one step back with this team…..

  123. Wild Bill says:

Are we this good on defense, or do the Rangers just reek?

  124. Pucknutz says:

Is this Matta kid for real! Wow, so cool for a rookie!!

  125. Pucknutz says:

    Yes :)

  126. Jandy says:

    he’s just amazing.

  127. Jandy says:

    poop!!

  128. theplanisworking says:

    Matador defense == soft goal.

1 step forward, 1 step back.

  129. Pucknutz says:

Plan, you gotta smile a bit more – this is a great game ! :) :)

  130. Wild Bill says:

    Nuts. Not Flower’s best work.

  131. Pucknutz says:

Just so we end on the foward step !!! LOL

  132. theplanisworking says:

Did your dog have an accident? ;)

  133. Wild Bill says:

    Really bad penalty.

  134. theplanisworking says:

    As you were saying?????????????

  135. theplanisworking says:

Rangers speed hurting the Pens D.

This happened on the past 2 Ranger goals.

  136. Never have to look at the game summary. Three scires and two poops. 3-2 Pens.

  137. Jay says:

Vintage Penguins under DD. Gain a third period lead then sit back and try not to lose instead of keeping the pedal down and trying to win or put the opponent away. Run a DVR replay and see how much time was spent in the offensive zone in the third period – I know it was less than 2:00 in the final 10 of the period. Dodged a bullet on Monday but got it right in the heart tonight

  138. Brandie says:

Kunitz with the penalty. Let us hand the Rangers the game?

  139. theplanisworking says:

    +1

  140. Wild Bill says:

Horrible call on Kunitz. Lundquist buys a call.

  141. theplanisworking says:

That was a bad call by the refs.

  142. Jandy says:

    terrible call on the penalty

  143. Jandy says:

    friggin diver

  144. Jandy says:

    i’m going to bed…4am comes too fast…night!

  145. theplanisworking says:

    Night, Mom T.

  146. Pucknutz says:

    4 on 3 – tougher kill – good job!

  147. Wild Bill says:

    Really good.

  148. Wild Bill says:

    Sutter wins it!!!

  149. theplanisworking says:

    Justice is served!

Good game, Pens almost blew it, but Sutter wins it for the 2 points.

Pens with the best record in the Eastern Conference.

  150. Pucknutz says:
