Comments

  1. Chuck H says:

Now I know why Pitt isn’t in the top 25 with a 10-1 record. They haven’t played any good teams besides Cincinnati.

  2. Naturally, Pitt came back nicely against Cal/Poly since the Panthers are 57th in scoring and Cal/Poly is 312th, and so, Pitt is 11-1 and Cal/Poly is 4-7.

  3. Clark Martineau says:

This is way too harsh. I graduated from Pitt in 1971. Things are so much better in basketball now.
What? Are we not allowed to enjoy a win?! I cheered for this team when they fought to be .500, I am certainly going to back them now!

  4. JRay3 says:

Stanford is a top 50 team and just beat unbeaten #10 Uconn on the road earlier this week to improve to 8-2. That will be counted as a quality win.

  5. JRay3 says:

Some people fail to remember the Ralph Williard years or some of the underachieving Paul Evans teams. Going years at a time without a NCAA or NIT invitation.

This is the golden era of Pitt hoops, what Howland started and Dixon has taken to even greater heights has catapulted Pitt into the hoops hierarchy. 11 NCAA bids in last 12 years, consistent 20+ win season every year, multiple league and tournament championships in past decade, not sure what there is not to enjoy.

Looking forward to league play as that will determine how high or low of a NCAA seed this years team receives. Still believe they have the look of a top four ACC team.

  6. Well, anyhow, Pitt won’t be playing again until New Year’s Eve, when the Panthers are up against Albany. Meanwhile, the Pens will complete their preholiday slate of games when they play Ottawa on Monday night, and the Steelers will be playing Green Bay on Sunday in an anticipated 14 inches of snow and the Pitt football team will compete in the Pizza Bowl in Detroit the day after Christmas. Happy Holidays to All!

  7. The main reason today for not being overly harsh with Pitt basketball is because Lamar Patterson scored 30 points versus Cal/Poly, only the second time a Panthers player has done this since Sam Young did it in the 2009 NCAA Tournament versus Oklahoma State in round 2. Not bad eh?

  8. Drew71 says:

    It’s a sickness.

I’m watching Louisiana-Lafayette vs Tulane in the R&L Carriers New Orleans Bowl.

Can’t believe Dejan doesn’t have a thread up.

  9. We’re just cleaning up from the Gildan New Mexico Bowl and Famous Idaho Potato Bowl parties. There are probably more people here than were at the Potato Bowl.

  10. Joey Bats says:

At least Lamar Patterson MADE all of his free throws tonight! ( 4 for 4)

Chips are down against Cincy…game on the the line at GAME END……….0 fer 2 from the line. :-(

Let’s hope in the future, he comes thru in the clutch a little better and THIS warm-up against the Little Sisters of the Poor @ Cal-Poly San Luis Obispo helps him get his groove back!

  11. theplanisworking says:

Thats because there was Saturday evening Vespers in Boise.
    And with that, Go Steelers!

  12. Drew71 says:

Lucky, I prefer the Chocolate Covered Potato Chip Bowl Presented by Lipitor.
