  2. Arriba Wilver says:

    If Patterson and Zanna aren’t 100% . . .

  3. theplanisworking says:

Truly a maddening team to watch.

The past 4 games, we got the Dr. Jeckyll Pitt team, playing awful ball.
Tonight, we get the Mr. Hyde Pitt team, playing the best team in the country extremely well. I am glad that they have awoken. If they continue to play this way for the rest of the game, they will beat Syracuse.

    H2P !

  4. Lad9 says:

Great first half and an electric atmosphere here. I think it might be better than the Duke game. Keep attacking that zone and get Zanna to finish and I like our chances! Let’s go Pitt!

  5. Arriba Wilver says:

If they continue like this they will push basketball 75 years into the future. ;-)

I know, long way to go in this game.

  6. theplanisworking says:

    You at the game, Lad?

(Sorry, I don’t do your name in all CAPS like the girls on here do)…..

  7. theplanisworking says:

    Mr. Lamar Patterson.
Glad he has rejoined the team. :)

  8. theplanisworking says:

    Now THAT was funny.

  9. Arriba Wilver says:

    Looks like Patterson is healthy.

  10. Lad9 says:

Yes I am. Having a blast. Tough internet connection though. And I will stick to the ladies using all caps if it is all the same to you, my friend! :)

  11. Brandie says:

I place his name in all caps because his blog name is an exultation, like a super hero yell.

  12. Brandie says:

    LAAAAAAAAAADDDDDDD NIIIIIIIIIINNNNNNEEEE!

  13. 21sthebest says:

I think he looks like he’s trying to do a little too much at times.

  14. theplanisworking says:

    No worries here……………. ;)

  15. theplanisworking says:

I thought you liked him like the girls liked the Beatles……… ;)

  16. Brandie says:

He makes my toes tingle!!! Oh that Lad 9 is so dreamy!

  17. Arriba Wilver says:

But he has his shot back. Wrist/hand seems to be fine.

  18. Brandie says:

Channeling your inner Sid Cesar Arreebz!

  19. Arriba Wilver says:

I don’t know who’s going to win, but this is a really good game.

  20. Lad9 says:

BRANDIEEEE! As far as I am concerned you are the blog superhero. You overcome all and come out smiling. My hero!

  21. Arriba Wilver says:

I liked Sid, too, Brandie. First thing I saw him in was It’s a Mad Mad Mad Mad World. And a lot of the comics considered him a genius.

  22. Lad9 says:

The Pete is ROCKING! Got to hold on for the last 3:48! HTP.

  23. Brandie says:

One of a kind…The man made it a point to always bring the awesome.

  24. Brandie says:

    Excellent Smithers!

  25. theplanisworking says:

I have no problem with Pitt winning or losing, just play smart and show effort. I was not upset with the Pitt losses this season, I was upset with the way they lost.

I agree Lad, win or lose, this is the way Pitt should play every single game.

BTW, I think they pull it out. :)

  26. Brandie says:

All this and New Castle just running things too. Man, it’s good to be Plan!

  27. Brandie says:

Working hard to Bring The Awesome!

  28. Bizrow says:

Milo is right, run the clock down, then throw up a prayer

    No offense at all

    Just like the PBC???

  29. theplanisworking says:

New Castle given a remarkably easy path to the WPIAL title on paper, Brandie. Amazingly, for the 2nd year in a row, the top 3 seeds are from New Castle’s section.

New Castle, and Lincoln Park are prohibitive favorites in their classes.

  30. Brandie says:

Though the path was / is easy, it does not seem like New Castle has taken anything for granted.

  31. theplanisworking says:

    :( :(

35-footer at the buzzer with a hand in his face.
Sometimes you just have to tip your hat to your opponent.

    Stinks though.
Now, we will have to see this on SportsCenter for the next 2 days non-stop.

  32. Milo Hamilton says:

When you take a knee with 2 minutes to go you don’t deserve to win.

  33. Brandie says:

    UGH. Sorry Plan. :(

  34. theplanisworking says:

    Coach won’t let them.
3 years ago, they barely beat a bad team.

He made them do sprints til they collapsed.
    Never happened since………..

They are motivated because they know no matter how many games they win, they are HUGE underdogs in the State playoffs. They get closer each year. Maybe this year they break through.

  35. Arriba Wilver says:

Robinson is great. But he’s not Tyler Ennis. Of course, neither is anyone else.

  36. Patrick(ri) says:

That shot is an example of what I think makes college bb the best sport there is. IMHO.

  37. theplanisworking says:

I have no problem with a loss where effort was shown, and the #1 team in the country has to hit a miracle shot to win.

Now if they would have stunk up the joint tonight, then………

  38. DJ says:

This is what happens when you micromanage every possession in the last 5 minutes of the game.

And then call a timeout — when Syracuse is out of them — to permit them to set up a play.

  39. Patrick(ri) says:

    Interesting point.

  40. Brent says:

Pitt needs to recruit basketball players

  41. Wild Bill says:

Heck of a game. Would have been useful to make Ennis give up the ball.

  42. Brandie says:

They have the discipline to do so for sure. Coach seems to not let them have any room to accept mediocrity backed with lame excuses. Good for him.

  43. Milo Hamilton says:

He was just making sure everyone had a ride home.

  44. theplanisworking says:

He is one of the assistant principals at the school.
He can monitor them, and give them guidance all day, every day. In a rough town like New Castle, that makes a big difference.

  45. Stuart says:

Wow, blaming that one on recruiting. Of course Pitt didn’t recruit Ennis. IMHO he’ll be gone before his Junior year.

What’s the old saying, “I’d rather be lucky than good”?

    Stuart

  46. DJ says:

Horrible defense on the last play. Instead of taking away Ennis’ right hand, we actually took away his left and forced him to right, his shooting hand.

Force him to take just one dribble left at half court and his shot needs to come across his body and against his momentum, and it’s a Pitt win.

  47. Patrick(ri) says:

Or, he didn’t want to face the media if he didn’t use the TO, and Cuse scored?. These guys make so much money they have to look like they are earning it.

  48. theplanisworking says:

POST OF THE DAY !!! :)

  49. Milo Hamilton says:

What a great day. AJ goes to the Phillies because the Pirates are cheap. Derek Jeter retires. And now THAT happens. I’m done.

  50. theplanisworking says:

I just read somewhere AJ was offered 12 million by the Pirates. Can’t remember who wrote it………….

    AJ gone, bad.
    Jeter retires, meh.
Pitt loss is a tough one…… but highlights the difference between the 2 teams. Wonder if Johnson would have made a difference in some of these losses??

  51. Arriba Wilver says:

That one made me scratch my head a little, too.

  52. Brent says:

Not blaming recruiting just blaming the lack of offense that is consistently on the floor
    Oh wait that is recruiting

  53. florida steeler says:

    Robinson is HORRIBLE.

  54. florida steeler says:

Robinson is great?? He is a horrible defender, never penetrates and offense and cannot hit the side od a barn with his shot. You watching the same Robinson all of us are watching???

  55. 21sthebest says:

You call the timeout to tell your guys to deny Ennis the ball. Face guard him and put another guy in center field. Deny Ennis the ball.

  56. Brandie says:

That approach encompassed the whole picture and leaves nothing to chance. Those kids are fortunate they have someone who cares!!!!!

  57. DJ says:

If you have a good passer inbounding the ball with essentially all of the floor to work with, it’s very tough to deny Ennis the ball in that situation.

I would have preferred that once Ennis got it in the backcourt, that they then forced him to the left once he got near half court. One step left and it’s ballgame and a Pitt win.

  58. DJ says:

    I agree.

I think he over-coached in the one critical situation where good coaching called for him doing nothing.

  59. DJ says:

. . . or asking if anyone had a comb to spruce up for his post-game interview.

  60. 21sthebest says:

Put two guys on him. They already didn’t have anyone on the guy inbounding the ball.

  61. Pitt gave. It all it had and lost. If only the Panthers had scored more from the floor or in the clutch, though heaven knows they tried hard enough at both with outer

  62. Brandie says:

Brett Wallace will be in Astros camp as a non roster invited since he cleared waivers.

For you Plan, Meye-low, and others that might get it…

    YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!

  63. Bizrow says:

Personally, I’ll stick with Jamie Dixon, character, honor and integrity, win or lose, he shows that every friggin day

Hi Frank, other than ????? can you spell those things?

It ain’t over, Pitt will see the Orange again

  64. DJ says:

There were two players on Ennis when he came to half court, Newkirk and Wright.

The mistake is that neither defender forced Ennis left. He received the ball in stride in the backcourt, took one little step left as if he were headed to center court (to set up the defenders, who predictably bit), and then continued straight down the right sideline unimpeded.

  65. chethejet1 says:

At some point I won’t ever again let Pitt tease me into thinking they are a really good team and are a team that will be tough to beat in the tourney. My view Dixon is Gene Keady who had a nice program that never won any big ones.

  66. Pitt gave it all they had with what they had and lost, since they plainly didn’t have enough. Hopefully, they can do better at tournament time although I’m inclined to doubt it after these past few games.

  67. Bizrow says:

    Tomorrow is another yesterday

    We’ll see what happens

  68. DJ says:

    Robinson was on Cooney.

  69. Arriba Wilver says:

    Uh, yeah.

  70. Arriba Wilver says:

Forgive me if I’m wrong, but isn’t Syracuse undefeated and #1 in the nation?

I guess there may be a reason for that. Call me crazy.

  71. Why not deny Ennis the ball after the timeout with 4 seconds left? He was the ONLY Syracuse player that could hurt you in that situation. Everyone nation wide knew that!
