If we can get a league filled and folks choose to change the draft type to live or live auction, we can do it, trouble is scheduling a time where everyone can do it. Autodraft is you simply rank the players and when everyone has done that, the draft is held.

At least, Clint held to his word of having FL as his #1 starter. :-)

  15. Jandy says:

He’s prolly at the game Hipposter.

  16. pattonbb says:

    I’m with you!

I’ve been waiting on these game posts to return.

All is right in the world again.

  17. Jim S. says:

    +++, patton.

  18. theplanisworking says:

Maybe he is still checking out that hot woman from last week. ;)

  19. Jandy says:

    which one???

  20. Jandy says:

    DAyum 2-0 already :/

  21. Milo Hamilton says:

Papa Francisco, getting his work in.

  22. JohninOshkosh says:

    According to Google:

73 unofficial degrees in Bradenton, Florida.

8 official degrees in my backyard.

Oh, one thing I learned in the Winter Olympics is that Maria Sharapova moved from Russia to, wait for it, Bradenton, Florida, when she was little.

  23. Jandy says:

I saw that too Oshie, I never knew that.

  24. theplanisworking says:

It says 93.7 has the game.

I am getting CBS Sports radio feed from New York.

Is the game available anywhere else?

  25. Milo Hamilton says:

    IMG Academy.

  26. Milo Hamilton says:

You can’t get it on line for free. This gets you every game for every team all season. $19.99.

  27. JohninOshkosh says:

I did not know that was in Bradenton. Thought it was in Sarasota. Then again, I have no idea where Sarasota is. On the Gulf or Atlantic. Extremely deficient in my Florida geography.

  28. Andrew says:

Byrd just drove in run for the Phils

  29. theplanisworking says:

    Thanks, Milo.

  30. JohninOshkosh says:

My MLB package automatically renews. Every spring I look at my credit card balance and I’m surprised there is one. Then I remember, King Bud has taken his tribute.

  31. Milo Hamilton says:

Sarasota is just south of Bradenton on the gulf side. IMG is located very near a place we go to watch the Penguins when we’re down there. Watched a game with John Wehner last year.

  32. Milo Hamilton says:

That’s the money ( & mlb audio) that’s split evenly among all the teams that they’d rather you didn’t know about. A huge new chunk of revenue that’s never really had a number put on it.

  33. JohninOshkosh says:

  34. 21sthebest says:

    Jose Bautista homered.

  35. Baywatch says:

    Byrd WAS the word!

  36. Milo Hamilton says:

They boast “join the millions of subscribers” on their web page. runs $109.99 per year. Premium goes for $129.99 per year.

  37. Baywatch says:

He seems to know how to do that now! :-)

  38. JohninOshkosh says:

I get that, MLB. I’d rather my wife not know about it either!

  39. Baywatch says:

Brilliant, Greg! He just said, “Let’s not forget he (Lambo) hit 32 home runs last year in the minors, and 32 home runs is 32 home runs ANYWHERE!” Gah! Greg Brown!

  40. cmat0829 says:

To be fair to Greg Brown, who is definitely prone to the hyperbole, there were a lot of asylum-ites who begged the Pirates to give Lambo a chance last year because of his power in the minors. He didn’t really get a full chance before Byrd became the everyday RF, so looks like he may get his chance at 1B this year.

Now, 32 HRS in the minors is NOT anything but that…. the guy can hit Minor League pitching and he has power… it doesn’t mean he will have power in the majors or can hit major league pitching. So, to rewrite this for Greg….

“I’m excited to see what Andrew can do in say, 100-150 at bats against major league pitching. Can he hit consistently enough, with power, in the bigs? Impossible to say, but would love to find out. A power swing is a power swing”

  41. Milo Hamilton says:

Forbes estimates MLB’s internet arm produced $650 million in revenue in 2012. Baseball expects this number to top $6 billion a year in the near future. Remember, split evenly among the 30 teams. I just like throwing these numbers out there for everyone that likes watching Bob Nutting’s pennies. :)

  42. Jandy says:

I’m one of the asylum-ites that wants Lambo to get his chance :)

  43. Jandy says:

    That is absolutely obscene!

  44. Baywatch says:

Nice piece of editing there, cmat!

  45. Baywatch says:

Here, Here! (tinking his brandy snifter!)

  46. Baywatch says:

Steve, of course, getting his Chamber of Commerce reps in early! :-)

  47. theplanisworking says:

I thought Steve WAS the Chamber of Commerce……….

  48. JohninOshkosh says:

I pay for the premium. So each club gets $4+ dollars from me.

I didn’t get the NHL package this year and I haven’t missed it too much. I joked earlier but my wife always pays for my MLB subscription for my birthday each March.

Honestly, I’m not sure I could live without it. Many a summer night I fall asleep to Krukow or Scully or Sims. Cheaper and safer than Ambien, I guess.

Terrific crowd at the Philly ST game. Senior citizens enjoying senior citizens!

  49. JohninOshkosh says:

Boy, Comcast really shook things up in the Phillies broadcasting booth. Sarge Matthews is out. Looks like they’ve hired Jamie Moyer and Matt Stairs. Chris Wheeler is out as well.

So far, I’ve heard Moyer say “downward plane” about 25 times. I kinda liked Sarge. Had a peculiar cadence that I kind of enjoyed.

  50. Jim S. says:

Was he mentioning downward plane from the standpoint of something he never experienced, Osh?

  51. Jim S. says:

Same here, Osh. I get it with DirecTV. Automatic renewal.

  52. toochca says:

My brother was one of the directors at the IMG Academy. My father taught at the Pendelton school associated with the academy after retiring from teaching in Pa.

  53. JohninOshkosh says:

Turned it off and listening to music, now.

“Downward Plane” is one of those buzz phrases like “walk off home run” or “hot stove.”

Terms that didn’t exist 20 years ago. Probably conjured up by Ivy League types in ESPN and MLB office conference rooms.

Speaking of marketing, bet you are thankful you don’t work for GM today. Two Wisconsin teenage girls died because of their silence. What a mess.

  54. Jandy says:

Oh Joy! Lurch is pitching. Someone tell me how he does, please.

  55. JohninOshkosh says:

  56. Jim S. says:

AJ had an excellent “side” session.

  57. Milo Hamilton says:

A scoreless inning. That guy can pitch for somebody.

  58. theplanisworking says:

    Not Pirate related,
    not even sports related,
but as a public service to the blog……………

    Katy Perry is single again.
    That is all.

    (Where is Groat?) ;)

  59. Jandy says:

I think Miley Cyrus claimed her….just sayin’

  60. theplanisworking says:

I think you are nuts. :)

    That is all. :)

  61. Jim S. says:

I have been in meetings for a couple of hours straight. What happened?

  62. Milo Hamilton says:

Three run homer by Tony Sanchez ties it up. Can he play 1st base ?

  63. toochca says:

Question is how fast can he learn?!

  64. Jim S. says:

    That’s too many Sanchez’s at 1b!

  65. Jandy says:

nah..that’s good stuff at first base ;)

  66. Milo Hamilton says:

Shouldn’t take any more than a month, should it ?

  67. 21sthebest says:

Pirates first basemen are 2-2 this game with a walk. :-)

  68. Jandy says:

    seriously, they kissed…didn’t you hear?

But yes, I am certifiable ;)

  69. Wild Bill says:

Howdy, All Yinz, Back from a four day break in the hinterlands, armed with no wifi and a dumbphone.

Read the morning thread and this one, and feel a little bit caught up.

  70. 21sthebest says:

And Matt Hague is 1-1 with a hit and run single and Lambo is 1-3.

    Plenty of first base options!

  71. Jandy says:

    HEY HEY, Wild One :)

  72. Jandy says:

    I was reading 2 contracts, and Sanchez hits a homer…WTG Tony :)

  73. 21sthebest says:

Billy Beane says first base is easy.

However, Wash says it’s incredibly hard.

  74. theplanisworking says:

    Are his hands s-u-p-p-l-e ?

  75. Wild Bill says:

Greetings, Jandy. I saw you kept us well informed with Pens developments.

  76. Jandy says:

I was trying my best :D

  77. Jim S. says:

    Does Hague have “suppler” hands?

    Has McGuiness batted yet? Ishikawa?

  78. Jandy says:

    McGuiness just got a Ribbie

  79. Jandy says:

Then Lambo struck out swinging lol

  80. Jandy says:

    Polanco aT BAT….

  81. Wild Bill says:

So, horsehide lovers, shall we bother to play this season out, or save time, money and stress by awarding the Dodgers the trophy now?

  82. Jandy says:

    and flies out..

  83. Jim S. says:

On yesterday’s thread, Bay mentioned that the game was “afoot.” Now, today, someone just told me my door was “ajar.” What the heck is going on with the world? People can’t seem to remember the names for the most basic things.

  84. Jim S. says:

That settles it. Give him the 1b job vs. RHP!

  85. Jim S. says:

When in doubt, listen to Beane.

  86. Wild Bill says:

Maybe Bay is just a Sherlock Holmes fan, Jim.

  87. toochca says:

My car tells my that my “Door is Ajar”! I just tell my car “No, it is a door”! ;)

  88. Jandy says:

And this blog has run amok ;)

  89. Jim S. says:

    Thank you for that.

  90. Milo Hamilton says:

Thank you for that Jandy. I’ll save it & refer to it as needed.

  91. toochca says:

Always happens when it’s open! Coincedence?!

  92. Jandy says:

    c’mon guys, no takers?

  93. Jandy says:

    LOL! there you are :)

  94. Jim S. says:

  95. theplanisworking says:

    + many

  96. theplanisworking says:

    + many

  97. Jim S. says:

    Same with mine.

  98. Jim S. says:

    Something’s definitely amiss or askew.

  99. Jandy says:

  100. Jandy says:

    You’re all very welcome lol

  101. theplanisworking says:

Jim, I drove a New Yorker in the 80’s, when computers in cars were coming into vogue. A wonderful sultry voice said things like……….. “you’re door is ajar”, “please buckle your seatbelt”, etc.

One day the ex gets in the car, and after hearing all this she was impressed. One day, the car’s voice said…… ” maximum number of airbags exceeded”.
She never rode in the car ever again.
    True story.

  102. Jandy says:

  103. toochca says:

  104. Baywatch says:

I am MUCH MORE than a Sherlock Holmes fan! I like Andrew Lambo, too! :-)

  105. Milo Hamilton says:

    If nothing else we’re consistent.

  106. Milo Hamilton says:

Bucs lead 6-5, Wilk is in to close.

  107. Jandy says:

    Gotta go…catch yinz later…enjoy the evening :*

  108. Wild Bill says:

At least it’s not amoral – yet.

  109. Milo Hamilton says:

Welp, Wilk gets the save. Pirates 6 Yankees 5.

You know what they say, you can’t win ‘em all unless you win the first one.

  110. toochca says:

  111. 66lancers says:

Why, if we are trying to convert Lambo to a first baseman, are we using him at DH and Sanchez at first? I would think you would want to give Lambo all exposure possible.

  112. Wild Bill says:

Good job, Milo. Someone has to keep us on task, lest our digressions get out of hand.

  113. theplanisworking says:

  114. theplanisworking says:

Our digressions are not only out of hand, they fly wildly around this place.

  115. Thundercrack says:

    I liked Wheeler

  116. Bizrow says:

So the first Raise the Jolly Roger of the year???

  117. Jim S. says:

  118. Jim S. says:

  119. 21sthebest says:

    That’s what she said.

  120. Jim S. says:

    C ya l8tr, Jandy.

  121. Baywatch says:

Always liked The Sarge, too, Oshie. Especially at the plate. He’s right up there at the top of my Most Manly Batting Stances … along with another ex-Brave, Rico Carty!
