    DO WHAT?????

  2. theplanisworking says:

15 degrees, below zero wind chill, an inch or two of snow.
    It’s a Great Night for Hockey !!!!

  3. Pouliot for Stewart!!! Come on hippo…thought you were paying attention :)

  4. theplanisworking says:

    LOL !!
I am too poor to pay attention nowadays……… ;)

  5. Ha!

You can add Sameulsson and a 3rd for Boyes and Goc to the DO IT list.

But you gotta say so it in the Ben stiller Starskey n hutch accent otherwise it probably reads ridiculously. :)

  6. theplanisworking says:

I read Moulson could be coming here.

  7. I really hope that’s a smoke screen. Allow me to rephrase…chara won’t give a F.

  8. Jim S. says:

They make a good beer. Does that help?

  9. Jim S. says:

    Weather update from Chicagoland:

Very fine snow has begun to fall. The kind that makes a noise when it lands. Maybe half snow/half ice. But, that’s in my suburb – 35 miles from Chicago. Probably the same in the city. I think they’ll be fine down at Soldiers & Sailors … I mean, Soldier Field.

  10. theplanisworking says:

    Thanks, Jim.
Nothing gets by your watchful eyes! ;)

  11. Jim S. says:

I see what you did there.

  13. theplanisworking says:

Biz, as of next Friday, you can eliminate Lebanon, and add Irwin.

Also, you have Erie listed twice. Just caught this yeasterday.

Thank You for the service you provide with this.

  14. theplanisworking says:

Yeasterday………. guess I am getting an early start on Easter baking….

  15. Jim S. says:

Who does this Guinness guy play for?

  16. Jim S. says:

Erie: The city so nice they listed it twice. :-)

    My thanks as well, Biz.

  17. theplanisworking says:

    The Montreal McCanadiens…..

  18. Lost track but hear he’s stout.

  19. theplanisworking says:

A friend of mine sends me a weekly update……… this winter, Erie is the snowiest city in the lower 48.

  20. Jim S. says:

Doesn’t surprise me. Must be that global warming stuff.

  21. Jim S. says:

But, he’s lager-ing a lot of minutes. Might need to look for help in the Draught.

  22. theplanisworking says:

Yesterday, they got 2 feet of snow……….. here is proof :

  23. theplanisworking says:

    You on a tall building?

  24. Jim S. says:

My brother texted me from an undisclosed location in the city of Chicago. He will be at the game, God willing, and sporting a blue Pens jersey and cap. He says Pens fans are holding their own in the local establishments right now. He may not remember any of what goes on tonight.

  25. Jim S. says:

Do they take turns with them?

  26. Jim S. says:

No, just took the dog out for a pee. He hates when I sniff around for ahwile before doing my business. :-)

  27. theplanisworking says:

Only if they drink Moulson or Guinness.

  28. I think i would start at the twisted spoke then maybe head over to rush for dinner, maybe gibson’s or dublin’s for a pint…then stumble onto the redline to the roosevelt stop and off to the game!

  29. theplanisworking says:

Yeah, most dogs are afraid of heights.
    And jealous…….

  30. theplanisworking says:

    It’s Chicago.
    It’s Soldier Field.
    Gotta go to Ditka’s.

  31. Jim S. says:

I don’t know where he is, but he has been out and about since about 1. He’s an ND guy and lives in S Bend. So, he went somewhere to watch Pitt beat his team, and now he is probably grabbing dinner somewhere. He has his 2 20-something sons who live in the city with him – one a Pens fan, and the other, much to his disappointment, a Hawks fan. They will have a great time.

  32. Too funny. Almost mentioned ditka’s but i think rush st has more going on. Used to catch stiller games at coach’s establishment back in the good ol’ days…well not really…kordell was qb alot back then…

  33. theplanisworking says:

Wonder if Michael Jordan still has an establishment there………

  34. Syracuse getting manhandled at Virginia. Crazy season in college hoops.

  35. Jim S. says:

If you are thinking of the one on LaSalle that he had when he played, no. That closed at least 10 years ago.

But, I think he has a steakhouse chain now, and there is one on Michigan Ave. I have never eaten there. There are so many great steakhouses in this city it is ridiculous.

  36. Been there. He wasn’t.

Hey, Jim, is Ed Debevic’s still there? What an insane asylum that place was.

  37. theplanisworking says:

    Saw a great sign……….

    ACC = All Cavalier Conference.

  38. Jim S. says:

    Somewhere, Arriba chuckles knowingly.

The collapse continues. Things are not going well for them.

Pitchforks and torches are now completely sold out both within a 75 mile radius of Pittsburgh and in Syracuse. :-)

  39. theplanisworking says:

I have all the torches, and fuel.
    My retirement is secure……..

  40. JohninOshkosh says:

    1. Millers Pub
    2. Mother Hubbards
    3. Harry Carey’s
    4. Tilted Kilt

  41. Jim S. says:

I believe so, Lucky. It is a fun place. Have not been there in awhile. But, if I’m feeling like being insulted while eating, I head there. :-)

  42. Jim S. says:

    All excellent venues.

  43. Jim S. says:

Plan bought low and is selling high now. Brilliant move.

  44. theplanisworking says:

Isn’t Tilted Kilt the Scottish Hooters?

  45. theplanisworking says:

    I learned from TBMTIB. ;) :D

  46. JohninOshkosh says:

Yep. Blows Hooters out of the water.

My wife wasn’t too fond of it.

  47. The Pitt win over Notre Dame in overtime is the best thing to have happened in Pittsburgh sports in awhile! Now if only the Pens can beat the Blackhawks in Chicago tonight!

  48. theplanisworking says:

You mean she didn’t take one for the team?

  49. Jim S. says:

I have a funny Tilted Kilt story. The first year my son was playing travel ball, the coach scheduled an early Saturday morning scrimmage with a team about an hour south. He told all the parents not to worry because he and the coaches would pick all the kids up and take them both ways. He said parents could sleep in.

He also said that he was going to take the kids for lunch afterwards at a place called the Tilted Kilt. He had no idea what it was, just thought it was like a Friday’s from the looks of it on the outside.

About 10 minutes later he sent another email, after getting a half dozen emails from moms of the boys. He said he had no idea, and would never take 9 year olds to a place like that. Very apologetic.

The rest of the story is that about 10 dads had quickly offered to provide rides that morning. :-)

  50. JohninOshkosh says:

Going to be a terrific tournament, me thinks.

  51. Jim S. says:

    Hooters on steroids.

  52. JohninOshkosh says:

She indulged me. Mostly because we were going to a White Sox game in April and it was freezing. She’s a good egg about that sort of stuff.

Plan, I actually have tickets for the Bucks game tonight against the Nets. I’ve been a partial season ticket holder for years (10 packs). I saw the snow, felt the cold air. Decided not to go. First time in years I haven’t gone or given the tickets to someone. Would rather watch the spectacle at Soldier Field.

But, at least I have priority for getting playoff tickets! Bahahahahaha!

  53. theplanisworking says:

    Great priorities, Oshie !!

  54. The dikta’s i went to was on chicago ave downtown…really not too far from rush.

  55. JohninOshkosh says:

What are the best places to go before a Pens game ? Or a Bucco game ?

Starbucks doesn’t count. I’m an adult.

  56. MJ had a restaurant not far from johnny’s ice house back in the day too. Lots of nice cars parked nearby there….

  57. scapper says:

Hey JohninOshkosh…wanted to “reply” to a comment above but the option wasn’t available, so let me ask here…

You talked about going to a White Sox game. My wife and I are lifelong, rabid Bucco fans who now live near DC, but we adopted the Sox as a second team long ago while listening to Hawk and Tom Paciorek and then…oh crap, can’t recall then Darrin Jackson.

What’s your take on the atmosphere at Sox games? We have gone back five times because it feels almost like home. We love sitting in the right-center field bleachers. We once bought semi-decent box seats and were so disgusted by the scene that by inning 3 we were back with “our people.”

Anyway, just wondering what your feelings are about the place. Wife and I have been to about 20-25 stadiums and only home Pirates game surpass that for overall good feeling.

  58. theplanisworking says:

    Mike White on twitter:

I just tried to figure out which side of Palumbo is the New Castle side. Then I realized…….. both sides are New Castle.

Game sold out, standing room only.

New Castle playing, Pens playing outdoors.
I am one happy camper tonight.

  59. scapper says:

What an idiot. Looked up DJ’s name in mid-sentence and didn’t self-edit. Someone has had his three Saturday evening beverages already.

  60. Pucknutz says:

Now that I got that outta the way….never been to the Windy City.
Sounds like yinz gotta a bunch of good joints up ere Jim. Would expect good steakhouses. Still do a lota meatpacking there?
Tilted kilt? Sounds a bit kinkey! :)

Like to see just a bit of light snow, adds a lot of pond hockey flavor.

  61. JohninOshkosh says:

Yeah. The White Sox are my “other” team. My wife’s team as well. We try to go once a year. I like it a lot, especially since they remodeled. It doesn’t get much respect because it opened just a few years before the retro type stadiums. But I like the food. The statues. The crowds are usually small when I go but the fans are very knowledgeable. I’m not a Chicagoan, so I don’t get caught up in the North side, South side silliness, but it blows away Wrigley Field to me. Accessible by car and mass transportation. Surprisingly, festive. Especially with the whole Bicardis area. People there to watch baseball and not college girls. Nice mix of blue and white collar fans.

I like Hawk a lot, too. Although, he is the ultimate polarizing announcer-love him or hate him. No in betweens. My dad was a White Sox fan. Always, hurt him a bit that I loved the Pirates!

  62. theplanisworking says:

Hampton had a 13-2 lead on New Castle.
    At the end of 1…………

    Hampton 17,
    New Castle 16.

  63. theplanisworking says:

    At the half……….

    New Castle 31
    Hampton 26.

  64. Barb says:

Just heard from Rob Rossi on Channel 11 that the Pens have identified that they will be going after Ryan Kesler of the Canucks. He said that we will outline everything tomorrow in his column.

  65. theplanisworking says:

    Hi Barb. :)

  66. theplanisworking says:

    At the end of 3…………

    New Castle 45
    Hampton 40.

    GO PENS !!!!!!!!!

  67. Barb says:

Hi Planman. Looking forward to this game. Crosby against Toews.

  68. theplanisworking says:

  69. Jandy says:

  74. Jandy says:

Oh my! Kilts! Bet they are ummmmm chilly?

  75. JohninOshkosh says:

Agree. Like both of the special unis.

  76. Jandy says:

oh my kilts! bet that’s ummm cold….

  77. JohninOshkosh says:

    Jim Cornelison rocks!

  78. theplanisworking says:

    MOM T !!!!!!!!!

  79. Jandy says:

  80. Jandy says:

    Hey hey Planimal!!!

  81. Thundercrack says:

I was just about to ask you what city do you live in now.

    Never mind.

  82. theplanisworking says:

  83. JohninOshkosh says:

  84. Jandy says:

    nah..have another ;)

  85. JohninOshkosh says:

Going to be a lot of crazy puck movement. Don’t envy the goal minders.

  86. Barb says:

I was thinking the same thing Jandy. Brrrrrrrrrrrr!

  87. Jandy says:

    for sure!

  88. Jandy says:

  89. theplanisworking says:

    Final ……….

    New Castle 55
    Hampton 49

3 Undefeated seasons in a row.
    WOOOOOOOOOOOOO !!!!!!!!!!!!

  90. Barb says:

Wow just Wow! Congrats for a great season. Good luck at States.

  91. Purple Moose says:

Uh Oh, Despres might be sent to Wilkes Barre before the game ends.

  92. theplanisworking says:

    Thanks Barb!!!!

  93. Jandy says:

ugh! I wish he hadn’t taken that penalty.

  94. Jandy says:

Might be a long game lol

  95. JohninOshkosh says:

I always liked shovelling on the lake. Can scoot along on your skates. Wish I could do that on my driveway.

  96. Purple Moose says:

Yes, could be 4 hours. They need PENDOT out there

  97. Jandy says:

  98. Barb says:

I think that it might be a one goal game and only one goal. Man oh man!

  99. Purple Moose says:

Sounds like Rossi all but guaranteed getting Kessler on the pregame show

  100. JohninOshkosh says:

It’s entertaining but this game holds little value on determining which is the better team. It’s like they are playing street hockey.

Although, from what I’ve read here, the Penguins should have the advantage on choppy ice.

  101. Barb says:

That’s how I understood it. Should prove interesting the next few days.

  102. I’ve been watching the Pens/Blackhawks game on NBC and I can’t believe how it’s snowing!

  103. PSU holding their own against MN. 1-1 in the 3rd. Loik with the snipe.

  104. Now you guys know why i moved back to the burgh! :)

  105. Jandy says:

    Here we go

  106. DJ says:

There’s your shutdown pairing, ladies and gentlemen.

  107. Sarah says:

This is brutal to watch…..I’m just hoping nobody breaks a leg out there……

  108. aaron says:

Does anyone else have a bad feeling about the overall defensive quality and grit pertaining to the makeup of this team? I know they are running away with the division and are leading the conference, but there is something unsettling about this 2013-2014 team.

  109. Jandy says:

I’m glad Penn State is playing well ;)

  110. The Blackhawks have just scored as the snow keeps falling, but then, this is their home turf so the snow shouldn’t bother them like it would the Penguins, who usually play inside at the Consol Center.

  111. Sarah says:

Welcome AAron….you must be new here!
Yes that is pretty much the theme.

  112. Sarah says:

They should call this game. Seriously.
Look at the weather radar around Chi.

  113. scapper says:

Great stuff. That’s just how we see it. A Sox game blows away a Cubs game. Have seen only one of those. Nice time, but too contrived. Seems to be all about the “scene.” But a Sox game? Completely different vibe. Seems more about the baseball and love of the team more than just the love of being part of the hip crowd at Wrigley. We take the El right to the stadium and luxuriate in those bleachers with the most wonderful fans we’ve ever been around.

And as for Hawk, yeah, count us in the “Love him” crowd. Saw a great special on him on the MLB Channel a couple of months ago. Like him even more now.

  114. Purple Moose says:

Not even sure who is in goal for the Hawks since he didn’t have to do a thing that period

  115. scapper says:

Consider it done. Thanks for the push.

  116. Sarah says:

Did the pens win a faceoff that period? I didn’t see one.

  117. Purple Moose says:

Yep and under the no kidding category…..this has to be the worst 3rd and 4th lines in the history of good teams. Not sure how getting Kessler is going to make these wingers and Adams any better.

  118. The Blackhawks lead 1-0 at first period’s end and they out shot the Pens 14-5 and it’s no wonder!

  119. d says:

    yes, one

  120. DJ says:

Last I checked it was 11-1 Hawks with about 5 minutes left in the period.

  121. JohninOshkosh says:

Wow! How did NBC get the Plain White t’s ??? Someone must have had twenty bucks.

Where is Jonsey, by the way ? I don’t think he was at the Gold Medal game, either.

  122. JohninOshkosh says:

    Jim Cantore ‏@JimCantore 2m

More heavy snow heading towards @SoldierField Expect it 8:45 ish local time. #Blackhawks #Penguins @NHL @NBCSports

  123. theplanisworking says:

    I hope they get more.
    Maybe they will hang Bettman?

  124. JohninOshkosh says:

Yeah, I think they have gone to the well once too often on these outdoor games. I think they should just stick to the Heritage game and the New Years Day game.

    But $$$$.

  125. Jandy says:

    Agreed 100% Oshie!

  126. Dom says:

    Chicago on the power play.

  127. d says:

Despres is not making Disco Dani happy

  128. Jandy says:

    I feel sorry for Flower

  129. Dom says:

Now the Pens on the power play.

  130. Jandy says:

what did Roszival do to p8ss Kunitz off?

  131. theplanisworking says:

At least the Pens have the cooler uniforms.
    There is that…….

  132. DJ says:

    Not anymore.

    A well disciplined team.

  133. Dom says:

Didn’t do much for team USA.

  134. Jandy says:

    Nice save by Flower

  135. Dom says:

How about that save? 29 earned his keep for that one.

  136. Jandy says:

    he sure did!

  137. DJ says:

Heard Pouliot out of the Kesler trade mix.

If true, I’m happy. If not, very depressed.

  138. Dom says:

I don’t understand the logic why there needs to be this many outside games. Someone is going to get seriously hurt during a bad snowstorm.

  139. DJ says:

Pierre McGuire: So, what’s your biggest adjustment tonight, Dan?

HCDB: Keep pushing the puck forward.

  140. Barb says:

Well I see the dmen are really doing their jobs. Hanging MAF out to dry again.

  141. Jandy says:

Bettman needs to understand, there is such a thing as too much of a good thing!

  142. d says:

I would rather call up the kid d men from wb and lose than watch Brooksi and Scuderi mail it in

  143. DJ says:

HM: Why stop at 3 more years for Orpik? Five would be nice.

    Do it.

  144. So we’re letting him walk, and trading scuderi and tanger right?

  145. Purple Moose says:

They could play for a week against this team and in these conditions and the Pens might not score

  146. d says:

That would be awesome, but I don’t think The Great, All In, Ray Shero can pull that off

  147. DJ says:

If this team wants a sniff of the SC Finals in coming years, Orpik must go.

Loved the guy, was one of my faves, but all good things come to an end.

    It’s time.

  148. JohninOshkosh says:

    Butt whoopin’

  149. d says:

Uh oh! The wheels are coming off!

  150. theplanisworking says:

    Not the best effort tonight.
I don’t want to hear about the snow, the cold………. this team (and coach) won’t go far in da playoffs.

  151. Purple Moose says:

Pens just going through the motions at this point……kinda of look like team USA from last week. Wonder if there is a constant in that formula?

  152. Barb says:

Well I am going to call it a night since the Pens already have.

  153. theplanisworking says:

Gee, I don’t know what you mean. ;)

  154. Purple Moose says:

    totally agree

  155. DJ says:

Well at least Dan is looking natty in the fedora.

You know, focus on the important things.

  156. pattonbb says:

At least everyone got to see the Plain White T’s. That’s big time entertainment.

  157. d says:

I’m sure Disco Dani will inspire and motivate them between periods…NOT

  158. Jandy says:

Both teams are playing in the same cold, same conditions

  159. theplanisworking says:

    Night Barb.
    Thanks for coming in tonight.
Don’t forget to tip your waiter……..

  160. Jandy says:

    sweet ones Barb lol

  161. Jandy says:

  162. DJ says:

What do you think he would net at the deadline?

  163. Clearly i was egging DJ on…orpik wasnt even on the ice. :)

  164. JohninOshkosh says:

Seriously, I’ve been in and out on this but is Malkin playing ? I haven’t heard his name once.

  165. theplanisworking says:

Duck in the locker room guaranteeing a bronze medal……….

wait, only two teams playing tonight.

  166. Ummm…i dunno. If we did trade him wouldn’t be helping a cup contender? We could probably get a d prospect and 2nd pick. But if we’re trying to win the cup…

  167. Purple Moose says:

I would think we could get a decent 3rd line winger for Orpik although we do have Kobasew.

  168. Purple Moose says:

I know that Coach loves him but seriously what does Adams offer this team anymore?

  169. JohninOshkosh says:

  170. aaron says:

The only offensive thing about the Pens tonight is the play of their defense. In the rumor category, it has been reported that Evgeni Malkin still plays for the Penguins, although no one can confirm this rumor.

  171. DJ says:

Now if you have any influence on that other team’s GM, please make this happen.

Not worried at all about him going to any contenders.

  172. Either way, orpik going no where. Much much bigger concerns for this squad than a + dman playing touhgest minutes.

  173. d says:

What! Would be lucky and I mean lucky with a conditional 4th or 5th rounder! Oh yeah and a bag of practice pucks for ol Brooksi

  174. Jandy says:

It’s not just him. The entire team is dysfunctional tonight. I dunno what the heck is wrong with them. Seriously.

  175. DJ says:

I think that goat just wandered into our locker room, Plan.

  176. Purple Moose says:

He needs time to sulk and get over the Olympic experience after all he is only 27 years old

  177. Jandy says:

    I know, that’s why I added the lol ;)

  178. I’d rather he focus on bottom 6 and RW for sid. :)

  179. DJ says:

Yeah, he’s playing tough minutes, all right. But they’re tough on us.

  180. That sound you hear are crickets :)

  181. aaron says:

The more I see of this team the more disturbing it is. All glitz and glamour and no grit and guts. I love Crosby, but the constant whining to the refs and allowing people to get him all riled up with that pouty look on his face is getting a bit old.

Geno’s diva-like fragile psyche is wearing a bit thin as well….

  182. DJ says:

Well, I’m with you on that. But we cannot overlook what’s obvious either.

  183. JohninOshkosh says:

Hardly shows up for big games. I hate to say it on this blog but he is in th “O” category to me. You know the one that rhymes with Smovahflated!

  184. MissIngaMolar says:

Orpik out for the third period.

Just got news he was arrested for for frostbite and indecent exposure…

Got undressed out there…. Like in the end of Slapshot.

  185. Dom says:

    Jagr scores his 700th goal.

  186. Purple Moose says:

Have we won a faceoff since the first period? Another of the “little” things that Coach focuses on.

  187. MissIngaMolar says:

Orpik out for the third period.

Just got news he was arrested f- f-for frostbite and indecent ex-ex-exposure…

Got undressed out there…. Like in the end of Slapshot.

  188. Dom says:

It’s hard to imagine that anyone is going to get in Chicago’s way of a third straight Stanley cup.

  189. theplanisworking says:

  190. theplanisworking says:

    Now get 2 more !

  191. Dom says:

    Goal!!! It ain’t over yet.

  192. Jandy says:

  193. Jandy says:

    Give Seabrook an assist

  194. JohninOshkosh says:

Seabrook is the best Penguin on the ice!

  195. Whats obvious is how much the ice is tilted our way cuz bottom 6 is all muck and no touch.

  196. Dom says:

    What about Fleury?

  197. Jandy says:

  198. chethejet1 says:

Pouliot for Stewart!!! Come on hippo…thought you were paying attention

No way I trade this defensemen DP for anyone. He is a star in the making and is just to valuable with Letang condition and Orpik, Nisky contracts up and Martin fragile as Beau Bennett and Marcus Wheaton who I believe is made of chalk.

  199. d says:

The only way they can score is to rely on the kindness of strangers…thank you mr. seabrooke

  200. Jandy says:

Dom, you are so cute :)

  201. DJ just traded seabrook for some deep dish pizza.

  202. JohninOshkosh says:

I had to Google that one! :)

    Wasn’t even dirty!

  203. My goodness i’m under seige…RW for sid wont come cheap. Just sayin…

  204. theplanisworking says:

  205. Jandy says:

    I like it!!!!

  206. DJ says:

Well if they know how valuable Harrington is I’m sure they’ll be demanding him instead.

  207. Jandy says:

On a brighter note…what a season for our Olli Maatta. Making and staying on the NHL team, a bronze medal in the Olympics, and an outdoor game. :)

  208. theplanisworking says:

    For those slaughtering Orpik above…………

Is he still feeling effects from Thornton’s mugging and just not telling anyone?
    Just a thought………

  209. Seriously though, if we are talking to van i hope hansen and richardson are part of the discussion as well. Kesler for sutter and whoever doesn’t solve depth issue.

  210. JohninOshkosh says:

Just let Neal take every shot.

  211. Harrington was only captain of team canada…obviously worthy of your ridicule.

  212. Jandy says:

    Kunitz whiffs again

  213. Purple Moose says:

Agree. Glass is the only player on the 3rd and 4th lines that could be on a cup contender and he isn’t even doing much lately other than hitting. We need 3 or 4 different forwards on this team.

  214. Purple Moose says:

Kunitz is having a brutal game

  215. JohninOshkosh says:

What a wimp. Can’t even play Goalie without a helmet.

  216. Jandy says:

    Oshie’s on a roll! lol

  217. Purple Moose says:

Gibbons has also been brutal tonight

  218. Jandy says:

  219. d says:

Elvis has just left the building

  220. Not sure what to make of despres tonight. Hope disco erases film for this one.

  221. d says:

Not sure what to make of the entire TEAM!

  222. Purple Moose says:

Agree, pretty bad game for Despres tonight.

  223. Jandy says:

make the the entire team…why single out Depres? lol

  224. Purple Moose says:

Pyatt showed a flash when he got here but has seemingly gotten worse every game.

  225. Jandy says:

    haha GMTA d

  226. Ideally we get kesler and goc for 3rd line and stewart for sid’s RW with boyes being backup plan.

  227. theplanisworking says:

Great Olympics, great return to the NHL.

    Just trying to help. ;)

  228. Ya looked like they wanted to get thru the game more than play it. Despres should stay in and no need to replace engo with kobasew.

  229. Jandy says:

heck yeah…Engo looks way better than CHuck

  230. DJ says:

You’ve made my point. A winger won’t come cheap, right? It’s got to be Harrington then.

  231. Jandy says:

  232. Purple Moose says:

    There, Despres got a goal

  233. I step away for 2 seconds and come back to despres sciring an own goal…my goodness…

  234. d says:

Disco Dani to Despres “here is your one way ticket to Wheeling, thanks for stopping by”

  235. Dom says:

It’s going to be that much difficult to come back now.

  236. Jandy says:

Why was I looking forward to watching the game tonight? :sigh:

  237. theplanisworking says:

So you could chat with us. :D

  238. Purple Moose says:

Maybe Simon was thinking “lets see I play some pretty good games and get sent down, so…………”

  239. Dude they’ll want offensive upside. Harrington is valuable IMO cuz of how he fits our roster. Buffalo will have teams competing for stewart. Sid and geno’s biological clocks are tickin you know… :)

  240. DJ says:

That incident hurt him, certainly, but I think it’s been 2 years now that he’s had little in the tank.

  241. Jandy says:

best part of the game :)

  242. Rbilak says:

Time to face some cold hard facts. Chicago stars show up in big games. Ours were invisible. Being beat by a better team happens, showing zero effort, zero emotion is not acceptable. That goes on coaching staff, captain and assistants. Why Ray Shero refuses to have the best players on NHL club s baffling. There is zero excuse for Harry Z not to be on 3/4 th line now. None! If Shero thinks one trade will put this team over the top, he is wrong, simply not tough enough physically and mentally. Mata is 19, yet has more hockey sense than any other defenseman. Clock is ticking Ray. Is MAF rounding into playoff form again?

  243. theplanisworking says:

    Are they having babies??? ;)

  244. DJ says:

Right, offensive upside. Plus mobility. Look no further than the Hawks defensive corps.

And that’s why we should keep it.

  245. theplanisworking says:

    Spot on.

  246. Stuart says:

Let me guess… is Chuck a relative? And, do you think he should be on Sid’s right wing?

  247. Stuart says:

Harry, Chuck, et al. Is there a. Hockey equivalent of a “” quad A” prospect?

Ray certainly has his work cut out replacing five sixth of the third and fourth lines in addition to finding a competent RW for Sid. Stuart

  248. DJ says:

    Time for another Scuderi reaming.

Might need someone other than Scuderi to do it though.

You know, glass houses and all.

  249. Purple Moose says:

    Bottom 6 (7) forwards:

Sutter – Way too inconsistent, not strong enough defensively
Glass – Seems intent on only hitting, not making plays anymore
Pyatt – Now I see why the Rangers cut him
Engellend – A 7th or 8th dman and coach just trying to keep him in the lineup
Adams – Washed up about a year and half ago
Kobesaw – His next good play will be his first, add nothing
Vitale – Makes a good play about every fourth or fifth game

  250. Purple Moose says:

Scuderi needs to look in the mirror, no longer a top 4 dman

  251. Purple moose, dont you know that trading orpik will cure all of that? :)

  252. DJ says:

HCDB post-game: They were better prepared than we were.

  253. Daquido_Bazzini says:

I haven’t watched the Pens a whole lot this season, and I guess I found out why tonight.
That was a complete snooze fest….Literally.
I took two 30 minute naps, and I mustered up way better dreams than what I saw on the frozen tundra of Chicago.

There’s no question this team is missing the likes of Dupuis, Letang and (Olympic casualty) Martin.
However….That was the definition of the term flat.
Crosby looked like he’s traveled a million miles in recent weeks….And he almost has.
Between himself, a few others and the HC…..They must be more jet lagged than a United pilot working double shifts to Beijing via New York and Paris.
Not making excuses….But those Olympics were a waste of time.
I won’t be surprised if this team recovers from them in May.

  254. Rbilak says:

Again I count 5 that simply are not better than Harry Z on your list. Kobesaw, please Shero/Dan explain why he is in the organization? Really I want to know.

If Sutter is offered in a trade, I have no problems with it. He simply is invisible far too many times, he is not good on face offs. He is not strong on puck.

    Pyatt, Pylon, same thing.

Glass can be effective checking, Engo actually looks better on 4th line scoring.

Vitale, needs to play like a guy concerned about his job, but doesn’t.

Hard to believe Shero cannot improve this bottom six.

  255. theplanisworking says:

Then that says even more bad things about the Duck.
    I mean goat.

  256. DJ says:

If we could do it, I would.

We could use a 3rd or 4th round pick, assuming no one has seen him play lately.

  257. Rbilak says:

Hmmm, better prepared, who is responsible for that?

  258. theplanisworking says:

    Welcome, Daq!

Maybe they need one of those LA spa treatments……..

  259. DJ says:

I said recently he is starting to look and sound like a coach who would be relieved if he were fired.

    It’s building now.

  260. DJ says:

I like Sutter’s hockey instincts and his skills. The problem, as I see it, is that he likes his summers off when he should have been at the Gary Roberts School of Off-Season Conditioning.

  261. theplanisworking says:

    Quite possible.

  262. DJ says:

Rossi: Despite Maatta’s progress, the Penguins do not view Pouliot as expendable, the sources said. Also, the Penguins are hesitant to trade defenseman Scott Harrington, their second-round pick in 2011, the sources said.

    Let’s hope this isn’t pre-trade bluster.
