If we can get a league filled and folks choose to change the draft type to live or live auction, we can do it, trouble is scheduling a time where everyone can do it. Autodraft is you simply rank the players and when everyone has done that, the draft is held.

    I think we need a W tonight

  3. FLA signed my boye to an extension :(

Prices really starting to come down…time to get Goc and stewie…DO IT!!!

  4. brandie says:

Wonder who will be the healthy scratches tonight?

    Greetings Consol Smash!

  5. theplanisworking says:

    Little Miss Muppet.
    Gooooooooooood Evening. :)

  6. Hola brandicita! :)

I’ll be a healthy scratch fo sho!

  7. brandie says:

Plans n at or should I say Plando Calrissian or Plando Lakes or Plantonio Holmes or MichelPlangelo? You have lots of good names,

Trade wire has been busy today with Luongo being jettisoned south to The Panthers. Wonder what tomorrow will bring?

  8. brandie says:

I am cheering for you to show your top 6 power baby!

  9. Well i hate to disappoint my favorite muppet but you’re roughly 10-15 years too late :)

    But there was a time…oh yes indeed…there was a time… ;)

  10. theplanisworking says:

    Hopefully a sunrise.

  11. Starting to look like we ain’t getting kesler or vanek. Although prices seem to be coming down other teams in the mix for them have more nhl ready prospects to offer. For kesler, Chicago apparently prepared to include Bickell, if they add teurovinen(or however you spell his name) or shaw and a 1st it’s probably a done deal. Philly can offer a current nhl center, another roster player and pick or picks. If shero raises the price by staying involved that would be a win.

  12. theplanisworking says:

With the Pens cap/injury situations, maybe Shero wasn’t bluffing when he said it would be tough to deal?

I am in favor of punting this year, seeing what players are healthy in the offseason, and going from there.

  13. brandie says:

The Plan is a philosopher and a hippo. Interesting!!!!

  14. brandie says:

    Greetings Strictly Bizrow.

  15. There still are moves that can be made…2 of my top 3 targets are still available. But not sure mr. shero and i see things eye to eye. Pity…

  16. Wild Bill says:

I’d like to stick my spur in this ice. Even if we don’t get Kesler or Vanek, there would be some other serviceable possibilities to find a winger for Sid. That might be all that gets done, and it could be enough.

  17. theplanisworking says:

Is that a Officer named Phil?

  18. brandie says:

My Favorite Muppet was a good tv show…or was that Martian?

  19. brandie says:

    I Found Wild Bill…

    On Observatory Hill…

    Greetings Untamed One!

  20. Wild Bill says:

    Greetings, Madam MMM!

  21. Wild Bill says:

For those of us who long for the days of the Russian female curlers, there is an option at Go to the NHL page and hit the photos of the Anaheim Ducks Ice Girls. You won’t regret it.

  22. Wild Bill says:

That’s Muppet Monicker Mistress, for the uninitiated.

  23. brandie says:

Wait till my husband finds out I am a Mistress!

  24. Are they wearing Muppet’s leather outfits?

  25. Ryan says:

I didn’t get a chance to weigh in on this yet….but I hope the Kesler talk is a bluff. I don’t know that I feel much better about this team with Kesler replacing Sutter between to minor leaguers. Especially when you cut into your defensive depth to get there.

It won’t take huge, dramatic trades to upgrade this team. You need an upgrade over Gibbons for Sid’s line, a couple gritty 10 goal scorers for the bottom six, and maybe a veteran puck mover type to add to then defensive depth. That’s not a whole lot to ask, and shouldn’t require a huge return. You could probably even go out and get an actual top six winger for Sid’s line, and not give up what they want for Kesler.

  26. theplanisworking says:

Thank You for your public service.

  27. theplanisworking says:

Ryan, I hope you are correct.

  28. Wild Bill says:

Beats him finding out that you are a Madam!

  29. Wild Bill says:

    You be the judge, Hm.

  30. cherokee23 says:

Was watching NHL Revealed last night and wondered if anyone else noticed this or knows anything about it. A segment showed Patrick Kan’s mother, sister & girlfriend. It seemed that either the girfriend or the sister was wearing a USA #44 white sweater. Orpik? Had heard that Kane & Orpik both from Buffalo, any connection here?

  31. brandie says:

Y,all got me wearing leather. WICKED!!!!!!!!!!

  32. Wild Bill says:

    Don’t know, Cherokee.

  33. JohninOshkosh says:

Doesn’t it seem like forever since we heard from Dejan ?

Not even tweeting. Very impressed with his restraint, and happy he has escaped to his family.

But I’m still looking forward to his views on some of the stuff that has been going down in his absence. Pitt collapse. NHL trades. Pirates ST. LeBron’ s 60+ point game ( :) )

  34. Milo Hamilton says:

Kesler will not agree to trade to Rangers. Haven’t heard much from the Red Wings but he’s a Detroit guy.

  35. theplanisworking says:

I saw him put a one-sentence blurb on Facebook.

Rumor has it, when he comes back, a RiverPuppy thread will be high on the priority list.

  36. Jandy says:

+++++ and yes we do need a W

  37. JohninOshkosh says:

I don’t Facebook. Spend enough time dealing with you mopes here. :)

MLS season starts this weekend. And I can’t believe I know that.

  38. Jandy says:

    Ya’ll are whack :)

  39. Brandie says:

    Jandalissima! :)

  40. Milo Hamilton says:

By the way, I hope they get Kesler. Take yourself back almost 2 years to the draft in Pittsburgh. Ray Shero traded Jordan Staal with a gun to his head. Would you have taken Kesler for Staal that day ? I sure would have. If a young NHL forward, a young defenseman in the system & a 1st round pick is the price for Kesler, that’s exactly what you received for Staal. It’s Staal for Kesler & it’s a no brainer.

  41. Jandy says:

Hey hey, it’s good to be in such awesome company :)

  42. Sarah says:

Ok I could have sworn root sports showed 6-0 pens for about the first 20 secs of the game…..

  43. Brandie says:

Never would have considered that angle. Thanks for the perspective Meye-low.

  44. JohninOshkosh says:

    That joint is rocking.

  45. Milo Hamilton says:

    Sure did.

  46. Barb says:

Wishful thinking on their part maybe?

  47. Brandie says:

    Goalie Goddess! What’s Up?

  48. Barb says:

Trying to keep my sanity. Isn’t working though. Hate my job, hate the weather. Other than that everything is just hunky dory. How ’bout you?

  49. Brandie says:

    6-0! BODACIOUS!!!

  50. theplanisworking says:

So 5-0 would be chopped liver?

  51. Barb says:

I will say I don’t like the Predators unis. Need sunglasses. WOW!

  52. Pucknutz says:

Plan… ya sorta took the word outa my mouth…. PUNT this year.
I have been real hesitant to say it out loud but it has been gnawing at my little mind that the Pens don’t have a heck of lot of options left this year.
Sooo many injuries, Sooo little cap space…….
I believe the Pens are gonna go pretty much with what the got….go as far as they can go with some of the youngsters. Shero may be able to get a small piece or two – never know with that guy.
Over the summer with more cap space , Shero can possibly do some magic.
Kesler deal makes no sense long term right now. Way too high a price IMHO.
That said, I think they can possibly with a little luck make the conference finals… beyond that… …
    We shall see.

  53. Milo Hamilton says:

Deryk Engelland a healthy scratch. Hmm.

  54. Brandie says:

Trying to keep a smile on my face. Great to see everyone! The dudes had me wearing leather earlier.

  55. Jandy says:

I’ll take a win, don’t care what the final score is!

  56. Jandy says:

indeed! Both Depres and Borts playing…scouts?

  57. JohninOshkosh says:

I’m getting the Nashville feed for free from Time Warner. The Nashville broadcasters include Stu Grimson. Makes sense. He was such a jolly, personable chap when he played. Whaler alum, though.

  58. Brandie says:

    Yes Plan! Yes it would!

  59. Jandy says:

Adventures of the Leather Muppet! Kinky!

  60. Milo Hamilton says:

Is Pete Weber back ? He recently had a heart attack.

  61. theplanisworking says:

I was waiting for a police reference, ladies.
    You know…… 5 – 0 ?

  62. Milo Hamilton says:

If you’ve been reading Rossi the last couple days, they are not comfortable going forward with either one of those two getting regular minutes. They’re shopping for a defenseman.

  63. Sarah says:

    Zup ladies?

  64. Brandie says:

    Book em Plan-O!

  65. Sarah says:

  66. Jandy says:

    that’s what I thought

  67. theplanisworking says:

    You are well-rounded.
DK would love that you know the MLS start date.

  68. JohninOshkosh says:

The Great Martin Brodeur in goal for the Devils tonight. Likely, he won’t get traded then. Glad. I didn’t care for the trade rumours swirling around him this week. Certain players should not play for other clubs. He needs to retire a Devil.

  69. Jandy says:

That’s what I was attempting to type…putting them on the ice for scouts to see…I’m tired…long day…

  70. JohninOshkosh says:

    Yep. He’s back. Happily.

  71. Sarah says:

I personally look forward to seeing Engeland turnstiling all playoffs while Borts and Depres eat nachos in the press box!

  72. Brandie says:

Waiting on a Penguins win! Sarah it is great to see you. You may need to don your pads when everything is said and done.

  73. Jandy says:

It’s amazing that I’m still up lol

  74. Jandy says:

  75. Sarah says:

    Great pass by Sid

  76. Wild Bill says:

How the Pens hate to dump and chase on the PP.

  77. Sarah says:

Cripes is Maata baby sitting Orpik?

  78. Milo Hamilton says:

    Maybe Engelland’s already traded & that’s why he’s scratched.

  79. Jandy says:

    I for one hope not

  80. Brandie says:

    (Shrugging Shoulders).

  81. cherokee23 says:

I thought Sweden was in the house

  82. Milo Hamilton says:

He & Greg Brown were the Bills announcers for all 4 losing Super Bowls.

  83. theplanisworking says:

  84. theplanisworking says:

    Sweden is Sunshine Yellow.
    Nashville is baby-poop yellow.

  85. theplanisworking says:

I never want to see any sports team punt on a season, but sometimes it is prudent. Doesn’t mean I like it.

  86. Milo Hamilton says:

Alain Vigneault was apparently the deal breaker for Kesler with the Rangers.

  87. JohninOshkosh says:

Have you ever announced hockey ? Seems insanely hard.

  88. Sarah says:

Hey Brandie! Hope you’re great! No pads tonight just a beer LOL!

  89. Milo Hamilton says:

Yep. My favorite sport to do.

  90. theplanisworking says:

    OUCH !!!

  91. Sarah says:

    Good God

  92. Jandy says:

  93. Sarah says:

    The Preds, Peeps.
    27th in goal scoring!

  94. Milo Hamilton says:

If that was Kunitz they’d waive it off.

  95. cherokee23 says:

Anybody else think they need to get rid of the kicking puck rule.

  96. Jandy says:

    isn’t that the truth!!??!

  97. Sarah says:

Gladamsew on the ice! And who was Orpik covering there?

  98. Milo Hamilton says:

Wonder how long it takes Tom Savini to make up Barry Trotz’s face before each game ?

  99. Sarah says:

    Not me!

  100. Purple Moose says:

And why is Kobasew playing? His next good play will be his first this year.

  101. cherokee23 says:

I mean the feet have become such a tool in puck handling, what’s the big deal. I don’t think he kicked it in anyway, was just using foot to stop it, like we see our guys do all the time.

  102. Jandy says:

  103. Barb says:

Yes the goal was waived off.

  104. Milo Hamilton says:

    (Raising Hand)

  105. cherokee23 says:

    LOL that’s couse you’re a goalie!

  106. JohninOshkosh says:

Trivia given on Nashville telecast. Ten years ago tonight Nashville scored 9 goals against the Pens including 6 PP goals (franchise record) at the Civic Arena. Pete Weber said it helped lead the Penguins to draft Evgeni Malkin and the Predators never got a thank you card!

  107. theplanisworking says:

Neal with a dumb play there.

  108. Jandy says:

  109. Sarah says:

    Neal is an idiot.
Why he didn’t go to Sochi and doesn’t have a gold medal right now.

  110. Barb says:

Neal with another bad hit. When is he going to learn. I guess being suspended earlier in the year didn’t sink in. He needs to talk with Cooke.

  111. Sarah says:

He’s a zombie. Waived, back the next day.
    Can’t be killed!

  112. Purple Moose says:

    What a shift by Glass

  113. Wild Bill says:

    What stones by Glass!

  114. Jandy says:

Really dumb….and people wonder why he didn’t get picked for the Olympics

  115. Purple Moose says:

    He is approaching Cooke status

  116. Milo Hamilton says:

    Great shift by Tanner Glass.

DK: That’s one of those moments that, inside hockey circles, they’ll gush about for months. Amazing stuff.

  117. Jandy says:

I’ve really come to appreciate Tanner

  118. Sarah says:

  119. Brandie says:

Keeps turning up like a bad penny or a determined cockroach.

  120. Jandy says:

  121. Milo Hamilton says:

Next time Neal goes into the corner for a loose puck with the guy he just flattened, bet he comes out with it.

  122. Purple Moose says:

And why doesn’t Bylsma like Bortuzzo????? You know come playoffs and if everybody healthy, he will be sitting.

  123. JohninOshkosh says:

Are they done reviewing the goal yet ? I went and washed my car in the meanwhile.

  124. JD says:

Nice post OshKosh. Mopes is one of my favorite words.

  125. Wild Bill says:

John, have you been taking estrogen, or did I miss something?

  126. JohninOshkosh says:

    Long story, Bill.

  127. JohninOshkosh says:

Hey JD! Hope all is well! Pirates start for real pretty soon!

  128. Jandy says:

yeah but did you wax it too???

  129. JohninOshkosh says:

But, no, I’m not turning into Bruce Jenner.

  130. Jandy says:

    oh my!

  131. Sarah says:

Penance for an unkind remark about Kim …..nice pic too!

  132. theplanisworking says:

I didn’t know you could wash the car in -3 degree weather……….

  133. Jandy says:

I like Jimmy, he’s an excellent player, but he really needs to cut the garbage antics

  134. Sarah says:

Scary face there too. And Travolta. Good grief…..

  135. Milo Hamilton says:

Stinky Georgia Tech just won at Syracuse.

  136. Sarah says:

    Bruins snacking on the panthers….

  137. theplanisworking says:

    HE LIVES !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  138. Barb says:

That is a great pic of Kim Novak however she looked horrible Sunday night. Where do these people find these hacks for MDs?

  139. theplanisworking says:

man, THAT anchor dropped too !

  140. Barb says:

Do you think Syracuse caught the Pitt virus?

  141. Brandie says:

    Sounds bloody and brutal.

  142. Jandy says:

  146. theplanisworking says:

    Good one Barb!

    Good Evening !

  147. Jandy says:

And the Preds get it back

  148. Pucknutz says:

I don’t necessarily like it either…but prudent may be a good word for it.
And I much as I think “punt” is a pretty fair description… maybe its is a little harsh. They aint gonna just roll over.
The Pens as currently constructed are not exactly chopped liver. The “big” boys are gonna have to step up and dominate a few game in the cup run. Flower gotta steal a couple, Sid , Geno, and Neal need have some highlight games.
Youngsters are gettin some ice time and as much as Disco likes to sit em he may not have much choice down the stretch. And ya got the Mattta. Who know what that kid may do.
Aint given up on em by any stretch…. but a Cup may be a stretch this year.

  149. Barb says:

Come on Pens. Can’t you keep a lead for at least 10 seconds?

  150. Sarah says:

    For gods sake

  151. theplanisworking says:

    And……………. give it right back.

POOW POOW ! ( Reversed Jandy’s woop woop).

  152. Jandy says:

WOW! The Boss peeked in…I told him he missed us ;)

  153. aaron says:

    Really, Orpik? REALLY?!?!?

  154. Barb says:

Good evening Sir Planalot. I do come up with a good one every now and again.

  155. Jandy says:

  156. theplanisworking says:

  157. Sarah says:

    Don’t get me started.

  158. theplanisworking says:

    Like a …………………….. never mind. ;)

  159. scapper says:

Lost and Found: Missing. One neck. If found, please return to: Trotz, Barry.

  160. aaron says:

Trade proposal: Orpik for anyone…..seriously it doesn’t matter, please just don’t hang up the phone. ~ Ray Shero between 2nd and 3rd periods.

  161. JD says:

Looking forward to it buddy. I’ll be back in Waupaca in April. I’ll try & time it so we can meet at BW for a beer again for a Bucs game.

  162. Pucknutz says:

Game was on the big screen at Starbucks, “barista” was slow…. hadda watch …
Kidding DK — enjoy the family time!! :)

  163. Sarah says:

He’s on pace for 25+ mins

  164. theplanisworking says:

He is on pace for a swift kick if he keeps this up……..

  167. JohninOshkosh says:

    General Burkhalter.

  168. Dom says:

    Let’s go pens.

  169. Milo Hamilton says:

David Legwand is the Ed Kranepool of the Predators.

  170. Brandie says:

Props for the Hogan’s Heroes reference. :)

  171. Looks like the ole 1-3-1 is back in full force. Only 1 goal given up so far.

  172. Pucknutz says:

    OK JO.. WHO is it?
Looks so familiar to me… but my brain is wracked… gotta know or I will be up allll night with that face flashing saying “whats you name?”.
Not really, but it will bug me for a bit. :)

  173. Barb says:

I know nothing…I know nothing Colonel!

  174. Brandie says:

Revvie! They got out the 1-3-1 just for you.

  175. Pucknutz says:

Thanks Barb, guess I gotta read em all before I cry like I did below! Sorrrrry…

  176. JohninOshkosh says:

I see MLBPA is keeping an eye on the Mets payroll. It has actually dipped to the Pirates payroll realm.

The Union is apparently upset that the Mets have the audacity not to spend like their crosstown brethren. I guess the Union doesn’t care what the Pirates spend.

  177. Brandie says:

Sir Planalot. I like it. Makes him sound like a knight of the round table.

  178. JohninOshkosh says:

The ladies bringing the yuck yucks tonight. :)

  179. scapper says:

    For sure!

    And Mike Keenan is Hockstetter.

  180. J Walter Weatherman says:

I tend to trust Shero, but I hope he’s not playing all his cards for the Kesler trade and ignoring the biggest need for this team – an upgrade to the bottom 6. You can’t win a Cup with two mediocre lines. If the Canucks hold Shero hostage until the trade deadline, I fear that he might not be able to pull the trigger on opportunities for bottom 6 players that may have been available earlier in the day (or today).

  181. The Pens are tied at 1 with the Predators at end of two periods. And, as Sidney has said, they need that sense of desperation as playoff time approaches although they’re still the best team in a weak division although they’ve lost 3 straight.

  182. Barb says:

Maybe Shero will have the strength and wisdom to pull Excalibur out of the stone!

  183. Brandie says:

Dan Bylsma kinds has a Bob Crane face.

  184. :D

They need to. Lots of goals given up since the break, if you count that fiasco in Chi town.

  185. 55 minutes between Jandy posts. I say she’s stackin Z’s.

    Planetoid probably is, too.

  186. DJ says:

Speaking of posts, I’d like so see the Pens miss one on occasion.

  187. Stuart says:

This game probably put her to sleep.

  188. theplanisworking says:

  189. Sarah says:

Whopping 8 shots total second period…..zzzzzzz…….

  190. theplanisworking says:

No Reverend, just catching up on the laffs above.

  191. Milo Hamilton says:

Stuart, who is your avatar ?

  192. theplanisworking says:

    Nice play by Fleury!

  193. Barb says:

Scire Niskanen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And just what was MAF doing? Give me heart failure.

  194. theplanisworking says:

He was practicing that move for the playoffs……..

  195. Barb says:

    Okay you keep thinking that!

  196. Milo Hamilton says:

Niskanen – “Bleeping diver !!” to Gaustad.

  197. theplanisworking says:

Or he was showing “Dancing With The Stars” made a mistake by not taking him…..

  198. Brandie says:

What does it mean when Matt Niskanen is your offense?

  199. That’s his grandfather, isn’t it? He explained it one day. Interesting.

    It isn’t Kim Novak.

  200. Brandie says:

  201. theplanisworking says:

    KUNITZ SCIRES !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    3-1 Good guys.

  202. It means the 1-3-1 is your friend, Blandet Hollywood.

  203. Milo Hamilton says:

His grandfather was a Yankee ? How awesome. I missed that. Thanks Lucky.

  204. theplanisworking says:

    1 Muppet,
    3 Hippos,
    1 Nun.

    That is reverend’s 1-3-1.

  205. Milo Hamilton says:

I gotta say I’m pretty happy with that one. Something to build on.

  206. Brandie says:

Kunitz could not let Niskanen have all if the fun.

  207. theplanisworking says:

Well, tonight’s game put a few of the putridness of the past week behind us.

    Next up, Trade Deadline.
Mr. Shero, let’s see what you do.

  208. theplanisworking says:

  209. Jandy says:

I swear I fell asleep sitting up on the couch !!

  210. Jandy says:

Now I can sleep better tonight :)

  211. At last the Pens win one tonight! They certainly needed this one after three straight embarassments! And now, it’s on to the Sharks on Thursday night!

  212. Wild Bill says:

Makes for a much better flight west!

  213. I think you’ve had enough (sleep)

  214. Jordan White says:

Somebody help me get this message to Plan.

I saw this and immediately thought of one person and one person only.–nhl.html

The piece is discussing merits of Kesler-to-Pens vs Kesler-to-Flyers. When discussing Pens personnel, the author, Jame O’Brien from Rotworld, offered this, “(Granted, the Penguins could use his right-handed shot, but there’s some square peg round hole going on there.)”

    Where have I read that?

Has anybody ever seen Plan and James O’Brien in the same room before? Could they be one in the same?

  215. theplanisworking says:

    Hahahahahahahaha !!

    This is funny.

And I will never tell if JOB is my alter ego.

    Thank You for this. :)

  216. Stuart says:

My great uncle who played for the Reds, the Philadelphia Athletics, and the Yankees, He finished with the Yanks about 5 years before the Babe started there.

  217. Jandy says:

    haha priceless!!!

  218. Jandy says:

    Never enough, Revvie ;)

  219. Jandy says:

  220. DJ says:

    Heath Ledger. The Joker.

  221. Sorry, Stu. My 61-year old memory embellished it a little.
