  1. The Gunner says:

This board sure is dead today!

  2. Barb says:

The Game is being shown on MLB right now. It is nice to see a Pgh team with a lead.

  3. Barb says:

Oh the score is 2-0 Pirates the bottom of the 3rd.

  4. Wonder if this Wilk kid is someone DK was alluding to on the chat the other day when he said the bullpen may hold the only surprises about the 25 going north.

Groat mentioned, when he was in Bradenton, that everyone made it their business to watch him throw. Now, he’s finishe his 3rd inning of the day.

  5. Barb says:

Brandicita so good to talk at ya today. Can’t bear to go to the Pens blog. I’ll watch my BUCCOs beat their Philthy counterparts.

  6. Brandie says:

Pens are only down one now. Good to know the Buccos are taking Carr of business.

  7. Barb says:

They are 4-0 good guys. Marte hit by a pitch and now Pgh’s Morris hit a Philthy player and both benches have been warned. Ooooooh!

  8. Morris about to give up the store.

  9. Barb says:

Rev I hope he will be on a short leash.

  10. Barb says:

I spoke too soon – Morris got the pitcher’s bestfriend – DP.

  11. Thundercrack says:

Jonathan Papelbon gets two quick outs and then decides to hit Marte and throw one close to Cutch.
Ends up giving up two runs and throws a bunch of additional pitches.

Bryan Morris then plunks the first Philly hitter.

    Papelbon = jerk
    Morris +1

  13. Brandie says:

Who says Spring Training doesn’t matter? Sounds like a normal day at the office to me.

  14. JRay3 says:

I was just texting Bryan’s agent who is in Clearwater telling him how much you have to love a guy that even in Spring Training has his teams back.

I’ve been told Clint Hurdle is a big Morris fan, and you can see quickly why.

Go back to last year and it was Morris who plunked the Mets Valdespin a day after showboating a meaningless HR.

Nice 2 innings of work by Bryan today.

  15. JRay3 says:

Nice to Phil Irwin back healthy and up on the hill.

Another arm that can give the Bucs some organizational depth.

  16. Right, JRay. Pulling for him. Hope he sticks again and continues to improve. Bullpen should be deep this season and at Indy, like last season.

  17. +++++++++++++++++++++

  18. Well, the Pens fought back to within 1 and still lost and they literally went down fighting today. Meanwhile, the Pirates are leading Philadelphia’s baseball team 4-0 in the 7th so us fans aren’t suffering like we otherwise would be. Thank you all for enlightening me about Endison Volquez, and a happy St. Pat’s weekend to all!

  19. And now, Neal Walker has just homered in the 7th to extend the Pirates’ lead to 5-0 in the 7th, which is naturally good to see.

  20. Brandie says:

Not a lesson in turning the other cheek though, Revvie. ;)

  21. The Gunner says:

Lambo is down to a .065 BA after grounding out this inning. Not looking good for him to go north.

  22. To every thing there is a season, Brandywine. A time for war and a time for peace. Baseball is a mini-war, with all due respect to our service men and women.

  23. He’s got options, so probably true Gunner.

  24. The Gunner says:

The Bucs are so weak @ 1B, looks like the pressure is on Gaby Sanchez to step up & take charge of the situation.

  25. Andrew says:

    and right handed.

  26. chethejet1 says:

I guess the buccos got the their game.

  27. theplanisworking says:

    Or maybe McGuiness?

  28. The MLB Network ran into technical problems in the 8th inning, not that that made any difference. And now, Monday’s game will be against the Yankees.

  29. The Gunner says:

Could be, but still weaker than it was in 2013. The Bucs need some offense from that position.

  30. Jim S. says:

Papelbon = jerk. No truer words were ever written here, TC.

His act doesn’t play so well anymore, now that he’s just an average closer.

  31. Jim S. says:

I have no inside information, but they seem to be getting Schlereth a lot of work for a bullpen that is already stocked with 2 solid lefties. Since Schlereth has not trade value and the other 2 do, could it be that Wilson could be traded for a Carp or someone else? Pure speculation on my part.

  32. Jim S. says:

He could easily be a guy who is called upon for 6-8 starts if/when the need arises. I think he’d be in line right after Straight out of Cumpton.

  33. Jim S. says:

Happy St. Pat’s Day to you, James!

  34. Jim S. says:

Great! Now we’ll never get him to give up switch hitting. ;-)

  35. Good speculation, though. Should be an interesting next couple of weeks.

  36. The latest on the Pens is that Chris Letang is off blood thinners and will be practicing tomorrow. And Beau Bennett will be practicing tomorrow as well.

  37. And Emmanuel Sanders has just signed for 3 years with the Broncos.

  38. Florida, Virginia, Arizona and Wichita State are the no. 1 seeds in the NCAA Tournament.

  39. And no. 9 Pitt will play Colorado in round 2 of the NCAA Tournament on Thursday.

  40. Stuart says:

Technically James I don’t think the “play in” counts as round #1, so the Pott/Colorado is round #1. Round #2 would be Florida (if we win first round).
