  2. Allow me, at this time, to congratulate Ben Roethlesberger and his wife on the birth of their second daughter Baylee this morning.

  3. theplanisworking says:

Putting out an APB for Drew and Playoffs.

Not seen for a long time.

Hopefully Frank didn’t feed them to the crocks…

  4. Bizrow says:

Yeah, Playoffs didn’t reup for his fantasy team this year.

Drew did post something on facebook a couple of weeks ago though

  5. theplanisworking says:

    Hope they are Ok…..

  6. Andrew says:

It appears that Chris Stewart had minor knee surgery, sounds like an arthroscopic surgery to remove loose bodies/partial meniscus tear, not season ending.

  7. Milo Hamilton says:

Stewart had the surgery today. Just like JRay said days ago. They scraped down the meniscus in his knee. 4 to 6 weeks is the recovery time if all goes well.

  8. Milo Hamilton says:

I feel like I should say jinx or something. :)

  9. Andrew says:

Ha, same time stamp and all.

  10. Arriba Wilver says:

I thought they were just going to get a second opinion today? That’s what all the news sources said.

Just funnin’. We have our accurate source here. :-)

  11. Arriba Wilver says:

BTW, that’s good news if it holds up.

  12. Bizrow says:

Yes, no need to spend “assets” on another catcher, Sanchez can come north for that amount of time

Now, about the Tigers bullpen ;-)

  13. absolute59 says:

Biz: However, the converse argument would be to get someone to give some ML depth so that we are not in a position of having to make a trade when everyone knows we have to and thereby costing more assets.

Also I don’t think the type of guy are would be looking to get is going to really be spending any real assets.

  14. Milo Hamilton says:

Glad to see the Trib is right on top of the Stewart story. That’s alright fellas, we’ll take care of it right here on the blog.

  15. theplanisworking says:

So you mean all the gnashing of teeth the other day about what to do? what to do? regarding a backup/Sanchez was for naught??

    Hmmmmmm.

And, Milo, I say we hijack the Seton-Lasalle bus, so the Lady Bucs can go to Hershey. I will be one step behind you all the way, offering support…..

  16. Milo Hamilton says:

I get to interview their coach, Meaghan Ziemanski, prior to our local all star game Saturday night & I’m going to introduce her as coach of the public school champions.

  17. theplanisworking says:

Did you see my post on the Morning thread about this very subject?

Sickening……….. Burrell had a historic year……. for what? So they could tell their children that they weren’t allowed to win? My heart goes out to those girls.

  18. Milo Hamilton says:

A great year nonetheless. My buddy calls them schools without borders.

  19. theplanisworking says:

Yes, a great year for those girls.
    Yay public schools!

Interesting to see New Castle’s game saturday against a Philly Catholic recruting hotbed.
Hopefully the 7-8,000 NC fans will help.

  20. hockeymonster says:

So if I understand you guys correctly, chris stewart is out after knee surgery? Oh lookie there the bucs on are on the tube…

  21. Milo Hamilton says:

I’m going to guess from your comments that you feel a lot better about this particular New Castle run than the one in the late 90′s.

  22. Brandie says:

    Dear Lunatics…

I hope you all have a fantastic night conversing about baseball. I sm having a down time where I am in pretty low form and may check in occasionally to dig the merry banter. Thank you all for your kindness.

    Muppet

  23. Milo Hamilton says:

Hang tough you wacky muppet you.

  24. theplanisworking says:

The one in the late 90′s was doomed.
The first year, they were over-achievers.
2nd year, Sarandrea kept their 6’9″ center in garbage time, and he got hurt, so they lost to a tall Harrisburg team in the final.
3rd year, they got hosed in the semi-final by the refs.

This team just seems to never quit.
They have a better chance, and i think last year’s loss to Lower Merion made them hungry.

    We will see.
I want to see all 6 public schools win this weekend.
Sadly, I only see 1 or 2 winning.

  25. theplanisworking says:

I can kick you……….. that would raise you up……. ;)

    Hope all goes well.
Try the veal………….. that should do it, Brandie cakes.

  26. Brandie says:

It would go much better if I could be as charming confident and real in real life like I am on here. :(

    Thanks for being guys!

    Plance Parrish and Meye-low!

  27. Plance Parrish is a good one, Brandistein. Chin up.

  28. Brandie says:

My chin is so low I am afraid of tripping over it. Going to talk to my uncle in the morning. He has promised to listen. We have never met but he seems to want to get yo know me and I want to get to know him. He has been through the fire but thanks to his late sister came out a better man and person. Perhaps he can help me too!

  29. Jim S. says:

They are thinking 6 weeks out at most, and maybe with a speedy recovery, just 4 weeks out. May have dodged a bullet.

  30. theplanisworking says:

    Brandie, it could be worse……….

you could be a gimpy, bowl-legged 7– pound mammal with a million nicknames like me.

    Have faith!

You shall overcome…………. (besides, no other 700 pound mammals allowed here) ;)

  31. Jim S. says:

A Mye-lowe Instant Classic. That was great.

  32. Jim S. says:

This is baseball Chris Stewart, monster.

  33. Jim S. says:

    Enjoy some R&R, Brandie.

  34. Jim S. says:

Thinking good thoughts for you on my end, Brandalita!

  35. Jim S. says:

Wandy solid through 3 scoreless! Very good news from him so far.

  36. theplanisworking says:

He is an important part of the 2014 Pirates.
Need him healthy and throwing lots of innings.

  37. Brandie says:

    Go Wandy! Thank you Jimnastics!

  38. Milo Hamilton says:

    Juan D. Rodriguez.

  39. Arriba Wilver says:

Lambo got a hit. That’s news.

  40. The Gunner says:

So did Ishikawa, he went deep

  41. JohninOshkosh says:

Looking forward to the Iowa/Tennessee game coming up tonight in the NCAA’s first round. Iowa coach Fran McCaffery’s teenage son had surgery to remove cancer at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics this morning but the coach hopes to be there for the game tonight in Dayton.

    Lets Go Hawks !

  42. Arriba Wilver says:

Already in mid-season base running form. Harrison ran into an out, but he DID hit in the tying run first. (Sorry, this is the first game I’ve gotten to see.)

  43. Leo Walter says:

I have seen some really frightening pitching performances down here in Fla. Ricky Romero and Marcus Stroman yesterday ,add Bruce Chen today. They all make Volquez a look a lot less disappointing.

  44. The Gunner says:

I think Manny Sanguillen must be his personal base running coach.

  45. theplanisworking says:

    PLAN THE PARADE !!

    Too soon?

  46. Barb says:

Hey Brandie we’re all here for you. Sending good thoughts your way. I just want you to know that all of you here keep me going at work. I can’t post anything on the blog at work (Big Brother watches) but you certainly make me chuckle. I will keep you in my prayers Brandecita.

  47. Milo Hamilton says:

The Pirates have announced that Chris Stewart had arthroscopic surgery. They’ve also announced the Japanese have bombed Pearl Harbor.

  48. Arriba Wilver says:

Cool. First challenge. Looking like it will hold up (no change in call on Decker being out at second).

  49. Andrew says:

Tire fire on the bases to end that inning

  50. Arriba Wilver says:

You sure they didn’t say the Germans?

  51. JohninOshkosh says:

…also revealed Darth Vader is Luke Skywalker’s father.

  52. Milo Hamilton says:

    Replay confirms horrible baserunning.

  53. Arriba Wilver says:

    +++

  54. Milo Hamilton says:

Hasn’t Middlebrooks learned his lesson ? Haven’t the NESN infobabes learned their lesson ?

  55. Arriba Wilver says:

Looks like a really nice ballpark.

  56. JohninOshkosh says:

Wasn’t both Heidi Whatney and Hazel Mae also linked to ballplayers ? Wasn’t Mae linked to an affair with Terry Francona?

  57. JohninOshkosh says:

    *Watney

  58. Milo Hamilton says:

Heidi was with Varitek I believe. Never heard the Hazel Mae – Francona one. The Red Sox sure put the fun in dysfunctional.

  59. Milo Hamilton says:

Lambo retired on a diving stop by Mike Carp. That’s ironic.

  60. Stuart says:

Fine Girl, you know what they say, “it’s always darkest before the dawn”. Don’t look down, the next opportunity is just ahead.

    Stuart

  61. The Gunner says:

Lambo gave some indications he might be coming alive – I sure would like to see this guy do well.
