Comments

  1. hockeymonster says:

NO OWN GOALS! NO OWN GOALS! LETS GO PENS! :)

  2. Aaron says:

Scuderi has already scored for TB….1-0 Lightning and the game hasn’t started yet.

    Go pens!

  3. Rbilak says:

In all honesty do not know have a lot to look at in this game. I will focus on Scuderi’s play, especially short-handed. Let’s see if they come out asleep or sleepwalking again. Stempy’s play has been good. Seems like Sid is more effective.

Focus in on 47 and 41. Right now we are set to lay Leafs in playoffs. Could be interesting series as Clarkston would play role of Flyers and Pens have let him run over them all year.

    Let the game begin.

  4. J Walter Weatherman says:

That was an incredible play by Malkin.

  5. Andrew says:

In other hockey news, Claude Giroux has taken his 3rd minor of the day on the most penalized team in the league, 1-1 Flyers Blues.

  6. James Thompson says:

Pitt lost 61-45 and top seeded Florida marches on. And the Pens lead in the second period 1-0. And one can only hope the Pens’ score holds up.

  7. hockeymonster says:

Piece is so good even his bad passes are good.

  8. J Walter Weatherman says:

Sadly, even though they are still the same undisciplined Flyers, they are playing pretty good hockey over the past few weeks. Better than the Pens.

  9. hockeymonster says:

Real deal’s reputation earned him that one…that was total bs.

  10. Andrew says:

    That is a weak call.

  11. J Walter Weatherman says:

That was a horrible call. Neal may be getting penalties based on reputation. Not good.

  12. Andrew says:

Certainly, too bad they took the first month off.

  13. J Walter Weatherman says:

Great play by Stamkos and Filpula. Pens don’t take advantage of a few PP’s and now it’s a different game. Kind of the same story for the Pens over the past couple of months.

  14. Milo Hamilton says:

If Brian Gibbons is killing penalties for you on a regular basis, you aren’t going very far.

  15. hockeymonster says:

Goc was in the box but I thought the same thing.

  16. Andrew says:

More importantly need Martin back so Scuderi is not on the first unit.

  17. J Walter Weatherman says:

In that particular instance, having a player with more than a 3-foot wingspan may have prevented that cross-ice pass, but your point is still well-taken. Scuderi is a liability on PK1.

  18. hockeymonster says:

Anyone notice seeing a lot of interference calls while on PP? Seems like players are getting good at lining up with a forward trying to stay on sides and buying calls. Refs are taking the bait every time but don’t think its an accident dmen are “coincidentally” bumping into forwards. They know where the forwards are ahead of time. GM’s and coaches need to start pointing this out. Especially with how reliant pens are on PP.

  19. hockeymonster says:

Gibby not much help there either.

  20. Andrew says:

Not a huge fan of blaming individuals for goals, but agree he could have chipped it out or stayed home, went half way and did nothing.

  21. J Walter Weatherman says:

Malkin putting the Pens on his back today, just like the other night against Wings.

  22. Milo Hamilton says:

Seems like it’ll soon be Brandon Sutter time.

  23. Milo Hamilton says:

Me neither, except for when it’s somebody’s fault. :)

  24. J Walter Weatherman says:

Like I was saying. He’s in a zone right now. Fun to watch.

  25. Andrew says:

    Wow!

  26. Milo Hamilton says:

I hereby retract the sarcastic comment I made about Geno the other night.

  27. hockeymonster says:

Goc taking over Staal’s old job. Now would be a good time to see if Sid’s metrics start to improve.

  28. Milo Hamilton says:

Sutter is an expensive 4th liner.

  29. NastyNate82 says:

Made Olli look like a pylon there…

  30. Milo Hamilton says:

Maata’s head just spun around like Linda Blair in The Exorcist.

  31. hockeymonster says:

Horrible back pressure by geno and kuni. We had 4 players in position…

  32. J Walter Weatherman says:

The biggest positive I’ve taken from the game so far is Scuderi, and the Pens overall, not putting any into their own goal.

Protecting a 3rd period lead is sometimes important for winning in the playoffs.

  33. hockeymonster says:

Glass, Pyatt adams and gibby still somewhat…how shall I say….limited…

  34. Sarah says:

    Yah got torched there….

  35. Sarah says:

    Too many???

  36. Andrew says:

Getting a gift, hope they do not waste it.

  37. Sarah says:

    LAZY!!!!

  38. J Walter Weatherman says:

Not the ideal way to win, but I’ll take it. Maybe that’ll get Neal going.

  39. Sarah says:

Boy on the replay Lind-whatshisname really overshot that angle.
Anyway thanks to the refs for that penalty!!!

  40. Sarah says:

    Not for long….

  41. hockeymonster says:

Horrendous effort in last few minutes of game. Geno and Kuni were spectators and truly lazy while leaving maatta out to dry. Maatta will tell you he was too flat footed with bad gap but the help he had was embarrassing considering it was at very end of game.

  42. Sarah says:

Much as Disco thinks they are a Grinder team…..talent won the day.

  43. hockeymonster says:

I wouldn’t make too many assumptions. Sutter is till playing well and our bottom 6 wingers are still our bottom 6 wingers.

  44. Sarah says:

Yeah. Beer league level support there …. (I know it well LOL!). But poor Olli….

  45. theplanisworking says:

    Grinder team…….. sure.
Disco must have gotten his hands on the “good” stuff from Sochi..

  46. Sarah says:

Hah. Man I hate to be Deb Downer. I just don’t think this skill can mask everything else come playoff time…..ugh….

  47. theplanisworking says:

They have one month to get it right.
Hopefully, Duck will rely on Martin for playoff coaching.

If not, I have a bad feeling about this team in the playoffs. Obviously, the Cup is the goal, but this team is incorrectly built to get a Cup. But, we will see.

  48. Sarah says:

In truth, they could have a very easy 1st round like Columbus…..i HOPE not DET….

But much points to a 2nd rounder with PHL.

    Oy.

  49. James Thompson says:

After Pitt lost to Florida today so the Panthers won’t be going to the Sweet 16, you had to feel better having the Pens beat Tampa Bay in overtime at the Consol Center this afternoon.

  50. Sarah says:

Would you keep Sutter over Goc or Stemp?

  51. theplanisworking says:

If the season ended today, I believe the Pens would play the Leafs.

  52. This afternoon, the Pens will face the Western Division leading St. Louis Blues. Hopefully, they can work the same magic against them as they did against Tampa Bay yesterday.
