    VIVA THE TIGERS BULLPEN!!!!!

    OR NOT!

    I LOVE BASEBALL!!!

  2. Jandy says:

    What she said!!!!

  3. theplanisworking says:

    GO MAX SCHERZER !!

As long as we don’t have “Mr.” McFadden critiquing this game, we should be ok……………………..

  4. Bizrow says:

Any thoughts on when the next roster moves will be made?

  5. Jason81 says:

That guy is probably too much of a lazy *** to bother with something so unimportant as a Spring Training game. But the Steelers offseason…LOOKOUT!!!!! :D

  6. theplanisworking says:

    HA !!!

  7. bpn8pitt says:

Saturday. Sunday they have to be at 25.

  8. Today’s exhibition game has been delayed by rain. They’d like to get it in since it’s forecast to rain in Florida even harder tomorrow and the Bucs’ owners are in town to watch the game, but right now, it’s really coming down, unfortunately.

  9. Bizrow says:

And of course, its on ESPN, crap

  10. The game’s been rained out, unfortunately. It’s not raining here in Daytona Beach, Florida right now, although it might later.

  11. Bob Nutting now taking all owner cronies back to Seven Springs to go skiing.

On their dime, of course. Bob is giving them Spring Rate on lift tickets.

  12. cosmo says:

Hearing rumblings that the Pirates are talking to Arizona about Didi Gregorious, any thoughts yay or nay?

  13. JRay3 says:

Interesting tweet that I read earlier today and am not sure was mentioned. But Jon Morosi of Fox Sports tweets the Pirates have had trade talks with the DBacks about SS Didi Gregorious. The DBacks have been rumored to be looking for a starting pitcher with the loss of Patrick Corbin.

If true, what are the Pirates thoughts on Jordy Mercer? I guess that glaring need over at 1B will just sort itself out.

  14. JRay3 says:

Beat me to it, living out here in AZ and catching a quite a few Dback games in person, I can say he is very sound defensively at the position. At the plate tends to be a very streaky hitter who can get hot but also goes into prolonged cold spells. For someone who has a little speed, does not use it on the base paths.

Definitely would be a defense first SS, as he is seen as a plus defender but limited upside, kind of risky with the bat.

  15. They’ll probably move Jordy to first because he’s tall and he can hit right-handers.

  16. JRay3 says:

+ for the humor, I laughed.

  17. theplanisworking says:

So let me understand this………. the Pirates are interested in a SS, when they have a platoon already at the position. What becomes of Barmes and Mercer?
And, what is happeneing at 1B? Lambo on the rod going North with the “ST stats dont matter” BA of .095? Gaby is now the de facto 1B for eternity?

    Inquiring minds want to know…..

  18. NMR says:

Guess what, buddy? This time next week, all your questions will be answered!

  19. theplanisworking says:

    Maybe.
This is the Bucs FO we are talking about, LOL !

  20. NMR says:

I can’t ever remember a time when Jordy Mercer was argued to be the shortstop of the future, and I can’t imagine anything he did last year suddenly changed anyones opinion.

Seems to make perfect sense for the Pirates to look at all options available.

  21. Arriba Wilver says:

    +++

  22. Although I’m a Jordy fan, I have to agree with your logic.

  23. JRay3 says:

Pirates rotation has been set through the six game home stand assuming Liriano is able to take the ball for the opener:

    M 31 – Liriano vs Cubs
    A 2 – Morton vs Cubs
    A 3 – Wandy vs Cubs
    A 4 – Cole vs Cards
    A 5 – Liriano vs Cards
    A 6 – Volquez vs Cards

Keeping Liriano on five day rotation and pushing Volquez back. Really hope Francisco is ready to go next week.

  24. cosmo says:

thanks for the lineup. I have tickets to April 4th game, get to see Cole. I was figuring either Wandy or Morton.

  25. Thundercrack says:

I am a fan of Jordy. But if they upgrade at the position then I don’t care what happens to the Mercer/Barmes platoon.

Eat Barmes’ contract if you have to. Jordy can become your second baseman or super utility guy of the future.

  26. Bizrow says:

DBacks are looking for starting pitching though, right?

  27. Arriba Wilver says:

I hope we don’t get Didi Gregorius. We still have people who can’t spell Snider. :-)

  28. Ha! And McCutchen.

  29. Thundercrack says:

    Neal & Neil

  30. DemonDachshund says:

Wonder if they would consider making Walker the platoon partner for Sanchez, move Mercer/Barmes to 2B, and put Gregorius at SS full time with Barmes to back up.

  31. DemonDachshund says:

Nevermind, could’ve sworn that Walker had played 1B at some point previously, but baseball reference tells me I’m a liar.

  32. Baywatch says:

I just read where the Brewers released their first base platoon from last year, Juan Francisco, power-hitting lefthanded batter. Rosenthal, on Twitter, said an unidentified source from the Pirates indicated they would NOT be making a stab at him once he clears waivers. He’s 26 – and he also plays third. The Braves started out platooning him and Johnson at third last year. Between the Braves and the Brewers he hit 18 home runs, and had 47 RBIs.

  33. Baywatch says:

    +++

  34. Leo Walter says:

How is freaking DD Gregorius an upgrade over Mercer ? The guy can’t hit. Hard throwers knock the bat out of his hands.

  35. Leo Walter says:

    +++ Arriba.

  36. Leo Walter says:

He was released because he is a terrible defensive player. No matter where you put him.

  37. Baywatch says:

Yeah, I see he made 10 errors in 62 games at 1B for the Brewers. Compare that with Gaby’s THREE in 113 games … pretty significant.
