Comments

  1. I wish the Pens luck tonight against LA, which they appear to need against the NHL’s stingiest defense.

  2. I heard Chris Letang describing his good days and his bad days on 93-7 the Fan to Joe Starkey and it was so depressing, and you wonder if he’ll ever play again.

  3. Bizrow says:

Blysma benched “one of his best players” per KDKA??

  4. Bizrow says:

Never mind, a crappy lead in, they were talking about last game, not tonight

  5. theplanisworking says:

    Hey Biz…………..

hear anything on Drew or Playoffs???

  6. poz says:

I read from my most realiable sources (here) that millionaire players don’t think the team can win a Cup. So the team has become undisiplined, unfocused, and lacks passion.

Passion doesn’t require talent or a wallet.

Play hard tonight with confidence, commitment and – passion – or confirm what some, including this geezer are saying. It’s not the ability, it’s the players…..and it starts with the top guy.

  7. Brandie says:

    LUNATICS….BREAKING NEWS!!!!!

    I AM SCIRE!!!!!

    I AM EMPLOYED!!!!!

    I START MONDAY!!!!!!

    :) :) :)

  8. JohninOshkosh says:

    Wonderful news Queen B!!! Congrats!

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=54lghubrY4M MP

  9. Excellent. Which job?

  10. Bizrow says:

I know someone saw Drew recently, don’t know why he’s not posting.

Playoffs, haven’t heard a peep, like I think I posted, he did not re-up for his fantasy team

  11. Bizrow says:

    Congrats ;-)

  12. Milo Hamilton says:

Oh no, not another heavy team.

  13. theplanisworking says:

What is your new title? Queen of the world? ;)

Great news! What position did you get?

  14. theplanisworking says:

    Strange.

Maybe Drew is observing no posting for Lent?
Playoffs…….. last I heard from him, he wanted me to get a “King Hippo” avatar for the blog, but then he disappeared.

  15. Brandie says:

The company is called Global Software Applications. I will be a Sales Assistant and Customer Service Manager. The pay starts at 8 an hour but there id already a review scheduled for possible increase after 60 days. Look them up on the Internet. They are a 10 minute walk from my house.
Thank you everyone for your vibes and prayers and your belief in me.

  16. Sounds great. That starting wage is windfall down here. Job sounds right up your alley, too.

Hope it doesn’t interfere with your time on the blog.

    ;)

  17. You ever study the history of Handel’s Messiah, Planetoid? Very interesting stuff. Not for a sports blog though.

  18. Brandie says:

I actually rate Handel’s Messiah?! AWESOME!

  19. Purple Moose says:

So Coach One Plan Dan’s big moving is scratching Despres……………….who didnt see that coming, that should have them all shaking in their skates.
    - Maata tongue is hanging on the ice as he skates
    - Orpik is standing in cement
    - Scuderi is all but giving forwards a cup of coffee in front of the net
    - Adams has played in 200 plus games in a row and has done something of significance in about 20 of them

    But lets scratch Despres.

  20. Milo Hamilton says:

    You’re overrating Adams.

  21. cosmo says:

wait another 60 or so games, he’ll score another goal.

  22. cosmo says:

I wish Mike Lange was doing the TV side and not radio.

  23. You do, young lassie!

At the end of his manuscript Handel wrote the letters “SDG”—Soli Deo Gloria, “To God alone the glory”.

Keep that one in mind and heart.

    :D

  24. Wild Bill says:

Congrats, Brandie! May the future be bright.

  25. theplanisworking says:

I haven’t studied it in detail, Reverend.
I am fascinated that a German was so beloved in Britain in that time period.

But I thought it was an appropriate tune for Brandimalista.

  26. theplanisworking says:

Nothing but the finest for our Muppet. ;)

  27. Brandie says:

I will Revvie. Everything happens for a reason. I will treat this like it’s the best dang job ever. They don’t have someone like me there so I sm creating the position from the ground up. I am excited. Thank you all so very much!

  28. theplanisworking says:

    Stinks.

  29. Brandie says:

    Thank you Strictly Bizrow!

  30. Brandie says:

Thank you Big Willy Thrills or Untamed William or Ain’t House Broke Bill!

  31. Purple Moose says:

How in the h&$$ can you be an NHL defenseman and have 0 penalty minutes????? I couldn’t believe when Bourque said that Scuderi has 0 PIMs this year and he is right. That stat alone should get him a seat in the press box for the rest of the season.

How do you not cross check, elbow, rough, kick, bite, scratch somebody, some game during the year who is in front of the net…..unbelievable.

  32. The company has a nice website. Looks interesting. “Print my boarding pass” should be fun selling. Those systems in most airports need upgrading constantly, I’ll bet.

Now if Bay would come up with some tickets and you can print some boarding passes, we can all do some flying.

  33. Brandie says:

Thank you Captain ABA…I love the link!

  34. Brandie says:

I like you Purple Moose. You must be fun on a date, what with all your cross checking, kicking, scratching and biting.

In all seriousness…hockey is not civilized. You gotta get down to the nit grit and play defense to open up opportunities for your offense! I wish someone would introduce Rob Scuderi to the Legend of Rob Scuderi. It is way past time those two met!

Good to see Bortuzzo on the ice!

  35. Andrew says:

    Not heavy, heaviest.

  36. theplanisworking says:

Not Pens related, but the Tigers have reportedly signed Miggy Cabrera to a 10 year $300 million dollar deal.
How can the Pirates compete with that?

Back to the topic at hand…………… GO PENS !!

  37. Purple Moose says:

Ha ha, thanks Brandie but I am well past my prime as apparently is Scuderi. 0 PIMs tells me that he is almost going out of his way to avoid contact.

  38. Andrew says:

Mike Ilitch realized he can’t take it with him.

  39. Milo Hamilton says:

I don’t know how all the teams in the Western Conference aren’t completely exhausted playing these heavy teams night after night after night. Also, I think it was completely unfair that the Penguins were the only team asked to send players to the Olympics. No wonder they’re all wore out.

  40. Brandie says:

You guys are family. Jandy went out of her way to call me and helped me to wring out and begin to rise again!

  41. Milo Hamilton says:

Maybe an oxygen bar on the bench would help the boys. Someone should tell Mario.

  42. Brandie says:

Why do I hear the World’s Tiniest Violin being played somewhere Migh-lowe?

  43. theplanisworking says:

    I hear Swedish Chef………

  44. Brandie says:

    They ain’t heavy…

    Their the Penguins!

  45. theplanisworking says:

    Yes, but most people try.
    Talk about a fool’s folly.

  46. Brandie says:

Not past your prime…distinguished and full bodied…like fine wine!

  47. Brandie says:

    LA Kings up 1-0…

    Heavy Goalie.

  48. Purple Moose says:

Funny Milo. I heard Steigerwald on the radio yesterday offering up about 49 excuses for the Penguins. Yep you would think they were the only team with issues.

  49. Milo Hamilton says:

Go Dayton. Chuck Noll went to Dayton. He coached heavy.

  50. Brandie says:

    Aw Flerpty Floopin!

  51. theplanisworking says:

    Quick is heavy? ;)

  52. Brandie says:

I thought heavy was Casey Hampton!

  53. Purple Moose says:

I think practices for the rest of the year should be cancelled. Hell, Coach One Plan Dan should just tell the boys they don’t even have to show up for the games if they have something better to do that night.

  54. theplanisworking says:

So glad to see that team meeting did so much good.

I guess March is Turtle month for the Pens.

  55. Andrew says:

Two soft calls in a heavy game.

  56. theplanisworking says:

He looks funny without the chef’s hat, eh?

  57. Milo Hamilton says:

It’s amazing how a team so heavy keeps beating the Pens to loose pucks.

  58. Brandie says:

Let us see what is the deal with the power play n’at!

  59. Brandie says:

    Heavy sentiment Purple Moose…Heavy Sentiment!

  60. Brandie says:

Must be why the Pens ate not moving so good…Heavy Sweaters.

  61. Milo Hamilton says:

You know Moose, when they cancelled practice after that debacle the other night all I could think of was Herb Brooks.

  62. Brandie says:

    They’re the Penguins.

  63. Purple Moose says:

New drinking game could be taking a shot every time Gibbons is on his butt on the ice

  64. Brandie says:

    Heavy Ice…Heavy Air…Gonna be a long night!

  65. Brandie says:

    Yeah!

    Stay Flerpty My Friends!

  66. hockeymonster says:

    What the f&^k was that?

  67. 1-0 LA in the waning minutes of period 1 with Niskanen in the penalty box for interference. Now weren’t they supposed to avoid penalties tonight.

  68. theplanisworking says:

I just can’t wait to hear the post-game excuses.
    Again.

They might try to blame the ice.
    Again.

They might try to say anything except the truth………… they have given up.
I am talking about both the players and coaches.

  69. hockeymonster says:

    Queen Brandiskaya…congrats!!! Drinks for everyone…and coffee for dejan :) :) :)

  70. Milo Hamilton says:

Where is DJ ? Where is Bowser ? These are the times that try fans souls.

  71. hockeymonster says:

Who cares about Cabrera…how’s the tigers bullpen shaping up?

  72. poz says:

But the passion must be back. Pens only down by one at home against a good team. Baby steps….

  73. hockeymonster says:

    They’re out drinking…heavy.

  74. Brandie says:

All I could think of was the line from Mrs. Doubtfire when the Robin Williams character called his ex as various persons answering the ad for s nanny…

    “I AM JOB!”

  75. theplanisworking says:

    Heavy.

  76. theplanisworking says:

    Oh, almost forgot……………

can’t wait to hear the excuses after they have been booted early from the playoffs, again.
No accountability, just count the sellout cash………….

  77. hockeymonster says:

Ha. RW is a funny funny dude.

  78. hockeymonster says:

Over/under on the next petulant penguin penalty? 5 minute mark of 2nd?

  79. Brandie says:

Petulant Penguin Penalty? All Hail Alliteration!

  80. Milo Hamilton says:

The game’s basically in OT for the Pens. If the Kings get the next goal it’s over.

  81. theplanisworking says:

Over/Under on AFLAC mumbling into the camera saying he has no answers?

  82. hockeymonster says:

    Haha. 4:59

  83. chethejet1 says:

Posted a month ago that March would determine whether the Pens are the real deal or they aren’t. I would say they aren’t.

  84. Pucknutz says:

Alliteration! aint hear that word for a … darn.. can’t come up with quick alllit. lol
    Petulant Penguin Penalty….. perfect!

  85. Milo Hamilton says:

For those of you that look at the twitter, DK is on a roll tonight. Which is really saying something considering how tired he must still be from the Olympics.

  86. Jandy says:

WOO-HOO!!!!!! Way to go Sistah!!! Congrats!!!!!

    <3

  87. Purple Moose says:

OK who gives the speech now Scuderi or Orpik

  88. Jandy says:

    I am sooooo happy for you! :D :D :D

  89. Jandy says:

    KUNIE GOT A GOONIE!!!

  90. hockeymonster says:

    Ha.

  91. Jandy says:

    It’s Starbucks’ induced ;)

  92. Jandy says:

Bowser’s kids have the flu, he’s going insane.

  93. Viv says:

    First round exit coming.

  94. Jandy says:

    Red wine please ;)

  95. Milo Hamilton says:

    The old two niner.

  96. Jandy says:

He drew a penalty for a PP, too bad we don’t take advantage of that

  97. hockeymonster says:

Over/under on lefties on PP on one unit? 5?

  98. Jandy says:

Indeed, it does. Take this opportunity by the horns and ride it girl!

  99. Jandy says:

Knowing our boys, it will be 6…

  100. Jandy says:

    YOu and me both, cosmo

  101. hockeymonster says:

Bibbs reporting Kings missing one of their heavier players.

  102. Purple Moose says:

Maatta really needs a week off.

  103. Jandy says:

Did he go to the bar?

  104. Jandy says:

He could use a game or two…the babysitting finally wore him out. ;)

  105. theplanisworking says:

I think I picked the wrong week to come out of a medically-induced coma to watch the Pens. Maybe they can slip me back under………

  106. Pucknutz says:

He ain’t the only one…. maybe that bus from WB is not such a bad idea! :)

  107. Jandy says:

Noooo! You gotta send good vibes their way!

  108. Jandy says:

    indeed

  109. Milo Hamilton says:

    Heavy shot by Pyatt.

  110. hockeymonster says:

Great job by Goc on the wall!

  111. Andrew says:

Sometimes it is better to be lucky than good.

  112. Jandy says:

I don’t know what the f&^k that was, but I like it!!! Good job, Pyatt!

  113. Well Jim and John ought to be happy.

Dayton up by 10 at the half and the Badgers up by 13.

  114. theplanisworking says:

    How’s this…………

I will send good vibes, juju, magic beans, “heaviness” the Pens way. Then the docs can slip me back under again, so I can relax, and not see the Pens implode.

    BTW, benching Despres was brilliant.
If AFLAC’S dog poops the wrong way, Despres will get benched.

  115. Milo Hamilton says:

No Andrew. It’s better to be heavy than good. :)

  116. theplanisworking says:

Those are some heavy leads, Reverend.

  117. Jandy says:

Do I hear a bid for good ‘n heavy?

  118. Earl Williams, a large catcher that played for Earl Weaver had the nickname “Heavy”. It was well-earned.

  119. Milo Hamilton says:

Gibbons on his keister – DRINK.

  120. hockeymonster says:

    F&#K

  121. Purple Moose says:

    lol

  122. Milo Hamilton says:

Awesome. Rookie of the Year – 1971 with Atlanta.

  123. Purple Moose says:

At least Craig Adams get his name mentioned on the telecast now.

  124. Jandy says:

    That was fackin stupid.

  125. Milo Hamilton says:

A lovely parting gift for Marcel Goc. that’s certainly three weeks I’ll never forget.

  126. hockeymonster says:

As if Sid didn’t look uninterested enough, now with Goc out he’ll have to look disinterested that much more.

  127. Andrew says:

    Haha, Pyatt is faux-heavy.

  128. Brandie says:

    Were they near Plan?

  129. Jandy says:

    I’m starting to wonder…

  130. Jandy says:

UGH 0-5 on the PP…it’s killing us

  131. Brandie says:

More man hours lost to injury…Heavy man, real heavy. Such a heavy bosom to bear.

  132. Gene-Zo says:

Looks bad for Goc. Ankle twisting in a sickening way, much as this team’s performance of late . . .

  133. Barb says:

Brandecita what great news. I knew someone would see your worth. :)

  134. Barb says:

Okay what happened to Goc? I forgot that the Pens were on tonight – imagine that!

  135. Brandie says:

Hugs should have gone in that parentheses!

  136. hockeymonster says:

    Sid to see heavy minutes.

  137. Jandy says:

    I caught those hugs :)

    Hugz back

  138. Jandy says:

    &%$@!

  139. Jandy says:

His foot went into the boards and went in a weird angle UGH

  140. Barb says:

Alrighty then we continue to watch an extremely talented team implode. Kaboom!

  141. Brandie says:

Feeling Quite Bodacious! I have the blessing of The Source. I will not fail. Thank you.

    Gov with a busted wheel.

  142. Barb says:

OUCH – out until the cows come home or an early exit in the playoffs. Or as Jim Mora said, “PLAYOFFS, PLAYOFFS?!?!?

  143. Viv says:

Same story year after year now – awesome for most of the season – then collapse weeks before the playoffs start. Then comes talk of flipping the switch. This culture of this team is load up with talent at the expense of role players.

  144. Jandy says:

That’s a goal. Will we get it or get ripped off?

  145. theplanisworking says:

    A heavy, heaving Bison? ;)

  146. Gene-Zo says:

    Looks like a Goal, no whistle . . .

  147. I forgot he broke in with the Braves. Weaver vowed he’d win a WS if they got Williams.

  148. Jandy says:

    I guess that answers that…

  149. Barb says:

    GOALIE INTERFERENCE WTH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  150. Andrew says:

Got cross checked into goaltender inference, come on.

  151. Jandy says:

    GARAGE LEAGUE!

  152. Gene-Zo says:

    Interference? HOW???

  153. Barb says:

You bless us my dear every day.

  154. Barb says:

It’s one thing to self-implode it is a whole other when the refs are against you. Brother!

  155. theplanisworking says:

For those complaining about the horrible call (Goal Interference), if the team makes its own breaks, you dont have to wait to be ripped off by the refs. Yeah, it stinks, but dont let those clowns determine the outcome of the game…………………………….. win it your damn selves.

  156. Milo Hamilton says:

    I give up.

  157. hockeymonster says:

GM’s should have another meeting in FL.

  158. d says:

Sutter used his stick like a pitch fork!!!

  159. Jandy says:

    Engo feeling heavy

  160. Barb says:

    Alright Engo make them pay!

  161. Barb says:

I know but sometimes you just have to complain about others. Kind of makes your team’s incompetence worth blaming others.

  162. d says:

Disco Dani better sit Engelland next game he is showing way too much initiative out there tonight! Imagine that…actually hitting someone

  163. theplanisworking says:

    Hahahahahahahaha!

    Good point, Barb.

  164. Brandie says:

How many uses can we get out of the idea of heavy?

Heavy lie the bosoms that heave the bison.

  165. Milo Hamilton says:

Crosby being embarrassed by Jarret Stoll in the faceoff circle tonight. I hate that they’ve changed that rule & the road team gets last change now.

  166. Brandie says:

Check out Plantasm gettin’ all heavy!

  167. Brandie says:

Guess you are not changing that avatar for sure!

  168. Jandy says:

    sounds kinky to me!

  169. Jandy says:

Not for a while anyway lol

  170. theplanisworking says:

    Your Bisons taught me well.

    Miss Hallelujah Brandie!

  171. Wild Bill says:

Looks like Jim’s Dayton Flyers will win over Stanford. Quickness beat size.

  172. Barb says:

    When did that happen?

  173. Brandie says:

    Stanford was way too heavy!

  174. Milo Hamilton says:

Sarcasm alert bodacious one. Our coach refuses to match lines.

  175. Jandy says:

    G’night everyone

  176. Wild Bill says:

Two pp goals against was harmful again tonight.

  177. Gene-Zo says:

No goal call was bad, but 0/7 PP was worse.

  178. Barb says:

Good Lord will this team win another game?

  179. Brandie says:

Lunatics…who do we pin this heavy loss on?

  180. Barb says:

Night all I’ll see you on the flip side.

  181. d says:

Montreal won again tonight, that coupled with another Pens lose and the Canadians are only six points behind the Pens for second place…Uh oh

  182. theplanisworking says:

    ++++

  183. Brandie says:

    Pleasant dreams Sistah woman!

  184. theplanisworking says:

    Everyone.

    Start with me.

    End with Despres.

  185. Wild Bill says:

    The Kings, Brandie.

  186. theplanisworking says:

Well, since the pems have decided to mail it in for the year, and have no heart, let alone pride, what is left to cheer for?

    The sellouts?
The little blimp in between periods?
    Iceburgh?

Won’t even bother to listen to any postgame excuse making, and clueless looks.

  187. Gene-Zo says:

If they keep playing this way, seeding doesn’t matter much.

  188. poz says:

The ref’s sputtering and stuttering through that no goal explanation resembled the Pens play since the break.

  189. poz says:

If you heard the excuses after the last loss then no sense listening tonight. It will be the same, I’m sure.

  190. chethejet1 says:

nothing is over until the heavy woman sings.

  191. Gene-Zo says:

We’ve been hearing every opponent is “desperate.” At what point do Pens feel “Desperation?”

  192. theplanisworking says:

    Pens also.
They have been playing like pems………..

  193. Andrew says:

They have also played two more games.

  194. poz says:

    Three games ago?

  195. d says:

Mario would like to thank all the Pens fans for the 187 or whatever consecutive sell out! And he was wondering who won the game???

  196. poz says:

Big momma flew out of her brassiere a few games ago.

  197. theplanisworking says:

    RAISE THE JOLLY SELLOUTS!

Seeing on facebook, peeps are blaming the refs awful call.
Not a word about being outhustled, or going 0-7 on the PP.

    Yinzers.

  198. Gene-Zo says:

That Sunday afternoon home game w/Philly would’ve been a good time to start . . .

  199. Gene-Zo says:

They can blame refs all they want, but the refs/Kings gave Pens 7 PPs. No excuse for going 0-for.

  200. d says:

    Typical “homer” responses! Sad…just SAD!!!

  201. DJ says:

I’m back from the game, Milo. It was heavy.

See what I started by that “heavy line-up” comment last week.

  202. Rbilak says:

Lost all respect for him when he said Phoenix was drawing Pens into taking penalties cause we were tired. I understand rooting for home team, but those are Bylsma like excuses.

  203. Rbilak says:

    Had to watch game DVR.

    1. Once again point play on powerplay almost gives up big goal, will it ever be addressed? Ever?

    2. The day off sure helped.

    3. Better effort but same results, excuse of game loss on ref’s, another injury, skates not sharpened right, pucks over froze, Zamboni missed a spot, anti-Canadien YouTube video.

    4. Not much else to say, fewer stupid penalties, but Glass slash was poor. Special Teams poor again.
