    BUCKLE UP BABY!!!!!!

  2. hockeymonster says:

    It’s Winning Time!!!

  3. Joe Starkey has an excellent article in the Trib today on Marc Andre Fleury.

These playoffs are his Waterloo. His status in Pittsburgh is more in the bulls eye than even Bylsma or Shero are.

  4. Brandie says:

Very true words indeed. I hope Fleury makes ‘em all eat crow!

Thanks to everyone for the shout outs. I will give you a raise Groats n Honey!

  5. Sarah says:

B!!! Running the company yet ????

  6. Sarah says:

Sorry but Starkeys comparison of backups stats and MAFs is silly, as it would be with any starter v his backups.
Backups don’t get the tougher starts.

Otherwise Joe has a firm grasp on the obvious. If MAF stinks again, he’s gone.

  9. Brandie says:

    That’s my goal Sarah Sunshine.

  10. Sarah says:

HAH! Then you shall make it so!!!!

  11. Sarah says:

So Steve Mason is out for game 1 v NYR, due to the hit in the Pens game last week.
    So Ray Emery is in.
Maybe he could skate the length of the ice and beat Lundquist to a pulp!! That may be Rays best shot at beating Hendrik LOL!

  12. cherokee23 says:

No logical reason for this thought, nor am I predicting a Cup win, but I have a feeling this team may surprise us!

  13. Wild Bill says:

My spur is firmly planted in this ice. Let’s go Pens!

  14. hockeymonster says:

Mercy is for the weak…we do not train to be merciful here! Welcome to Consol Dome!

  15. Brandie says:

    Jackets or Pens? (Just Kidding.)

  16. Brandie says:

    Untamed William is testifying!

  17. Brandie says:

    Dastardly Dan…Beyond Consol Dome!!!

  18. Eric Bowser says:

Bad omen this morning… on the way to work, saw a car with ‘Buckle Up Baby’ written on it (it was dirty) blocking traffic because it was hit and the bumper off.

The lack of quality third and fourth liners might not get exposed in this series but I want to see something out of those guys starting tonight. This can’t be all on Fleury, Crosby and Malkin but those three need to be leaders.

Penguins should win in four, at worst five. Anything more and that’s disappointing.

I want to see a killer instinct from Crosby and Malkin, no stupidity from Neal, engaged Bennett, something that looks like intensity from Sutter, a 5-man breakout (i.e. limited stretch passes), no free passes through the neutral zone (bad coverage), clear the bodies in front of Fleury (hello Orpik & Scuderi), shoot the puck on the PP (Letang), and stop the first shot (Fleury).

Ok…. I know some of you want to see it…. Bylsma cannot be owned like he was by Claude Julien, especially at home where he has the advantage of making the final change. Any coach that refuses to take advantage of an advantage isn’t putting his team in the best position to win.

There… now let’s get ready for some great hockey.

  19. Brandie says:

    Awesome and welcome!

  20. Sarah says:

    Uh oh…..

  21. Brandie says:

    Channeling Benjamin J.Grim…AKA The Thing

  22. Sarah says:

I’ll be interested to see what COL does to focus on Sid and Geno, and if it works, and if so can their line ages create something on their own if Geno is double teamed or whatever.

Spot on re Puck Support in our end Eric, we cannot break out via stretch.

And how about INSIDE the perimeter in their end?

Oh and IN the Jax’s GRILL in front of our net.

    All would be very happiness-inducing!!!

  23. Rbilak says:

Interested to see who is in and who is out tonight. So agree on Scuderi and Orpik, letting the O behind them in front of the net has been a trend, I am still sticking with Bortuzzo over Scuderi. Also I will lose it if the Geno/Letang Power point play give up a goal tonight. I absolutely hate Paul a Martin not being on the point. I agree with Neal, but Geno, Letang And even Sid take the undisciplined penalties too. Cannot happen tonight and Columbus is at least saying they are going to test them. If we do not score early, the frustration level goes up and the stupid penalty factor is x10. All that said, they should win in 5. But just imagine a MAF letdown goal early. Can’t wait the excuses are done with.

  24. Eric Bowser says:

    Penguins lineup

    Kunitz – Crosby – Bennett
    Jokinen – Malkin – Neal
    Glass – Sutter – Stempniak
    Gibbons – Vitale – Adams

    Orpik – Martin
    Scuderi – Letang
    Maatta – Niskanen

  25. BillyBaduka says:

  26. Eric Bowser says:

I’m ready to see the machine.

    Let’s Go Pens!

  27. scapper says:

Pens in 6. (Okay, or maybe 7, but definitely Pens.)

  28. Brandie says:

    Echoing that sentiment Billy Badazz!

  29. tcb says:

I expect the Pens to win (in 6) but think the Blue Jackets are being taken for granted by many.

  30. Milo Hamilton says:

    And so it begins.

  31. Eric Bowser says:

Not the start the Penguins wanted to have with that brutal defensive zone coverage. I guess Orpik didn’t want to switch off and play defense. The whole sequence was bad.

  32. Milo Hamilton says:

Let’s see how long before Stempniak replaces Bennett on Sid’s line.

  33. Andrew says:

Blind pass by Bennet, Martin gets skated by and no forward tracked Johnson.

  34. Brandie says:

They got their 1. Time for Pens to wake up, score, and lock down on D!

  35. Eric Bowser says:

There’s just NO speed from the Penguins, very methodical.

  36. hockeymonster says:

PM was a pylon then spectator. Unacceptable.

  37. Milo Hamilton says:

Whose idea was the mustard out ?

  38. JohninOshkosh says:

I’m working. Is it a sellout or is the streak over ?

    (Oh Pens in a sweep)

  39. Sarah says:

Gee it seems quiet in there. I’m making more noise yelling at my TV…..

  40. Jandy says:

Not by me. I called them this season’s Cinderella.

  41. Jandy says:

    Welcome to the Asylum :)

  42. Jandy says:

  43. Jandy says:

    I am NOT happy.

  44. Jandy says:

    Juicy Jussi!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  45. Sarah says:

  46. Eric Bowser says:

Nice short pass from Malkin to Jokinen.

  47. Arriba Wilver says:

    I think it was Eric’s.

  48. Sarah says:

Wow that was a knuckler on BOb…..

  49. JohnS says:

Martin not playing very well so far.

  50. Jandy says:

    Beautifully set up by Geno

  51. Sarah says:

    Scuds finally gets a penalty…

  52. Jandy says:

    Just Martin???? Please.

  53. Jandy says:

well. that was way too easy >:<

  54. Sarah says:

    For gods sake

  55. Jandy says:

Which Loonie said “Fear the Letestu?” Was it Mizery?

  56. Andrew says:

I hope see see that call the rest of the game.

  57. Milo Hamilton says:

It’s OK to take the man sometimes. No, really.

  58. Jandy says:

Let’s leave Her out of it

  59. Jandy says:

Don’t hold your breath…you’ll turn Blue.

  60. Eric Bowser says:

Shocking…. Orpik and Adams are on the ice for a goal against.

  61. scapper says:

If that’s a penalty every time in this series the Pens sweep. Seriously? This in the NHL playoffs, not an October Tuesday night game. Weak call, and it takes a lot for me to bitch about the refs.

  62. Milo Hamilton says:

That period was an absolute nightmare for Paul Martin.

  63. Florida Steeler says:

What was Orpik doing on that power play?

  64. Jandy says:

It was an absolute nightmare for most of the Pens’ team >:<

  65. hockeymonster says:

Finally…a call. Guess it’s 5 for 1 night at consol dome.

  66. hockeymonster says:

    Sugarcoat much?

  67. Andrew says:

Sutter lost the draw, Orpik was behind the net, not sure what Martin and Sutter were doing after the lost faceoff.

  68. Wild Bill says:

Well, we might want to cover guys in the slot in period two.

  69. hockeymonster says:

PM being pressured and targeted. He needs…no he must move the puck quicker. Support is there, use it asap then do what letang been doing and join second wave.

  70. hockeymonster says:

Wonder if J. Johnson could’ve helped a lil more than Carlson or faulk.

  71. Wild Bill says:

That can also be the work of the forwards.

  72. Jandy says:

    When have I ever?

  73. BillyBaduka says:

    Thanks for the avatar Osh.

  74. hockeymonster says:

PM cant be that much of a weak link with the minutes he gets.

  75. Lad 9 says:

OK we start period 2 on the PP. Let’s rinse out the bad taste of that awful period with a quick goal. I will predict one for 71. Let’s go Pens!

  76. Jandy says:

EVEryONE has to contribute and hold up their end. I’ve not seen a lot of that the entire first period To put blame on one player is ridiculous, HM.

  77. JohninOshkosh says:

:). I’m nothing if not wanting what the people want! Sandinista, my friend.

  78. Jandy says:

  79. Jandy says:

Just wow. I rest my case, HM

  80. Rbilak says:

Called the short hander. No excuses. MAF looks done

  81. Andrew says:

    It can only get better.

  82. hockeymonster says:

Ok now can we keep our chit together for 5 minutes?!??!

  83. Jandy says:

Now that’s better. BB doing ok

  84. Milo Hamilton says:

Next goal & the over wins.

  85. hockeymonster says:

1st 2 were on PM jandy. Sorry. Not to mention turnovers when he got bumped off puck.

  86. JohninOshkosh says:

    Who kicks the PAT?

    This one might finish 14-13.

  87. Sarah says:

Why was Sutter even taking that draw? Sid should take that.

  88. Dom says:

  89. Lad 9 says:

    ++++++ Yes he is.

  90. Jandy says:

OK back in the game. Hold it down now, boys.

  91. JohninOshkosh says:

    Pay the man, Shirley.

  92. Eric Bowser says:

Yeah… I don’t want to see Letang on PP again.

    Niskanen !

  93. Jandy says:

Niskie looking very good on the point

  94. hockeymonster says:

    Memo to Mario:

  95. Dom says:

    Like that will happen.

  96. Jandy says:

    I’ll drink to that!

  97. Lad 9 says:

They playing this one in the Great American launching pad? Wow.

  98. Milo Hamilton says:

    Pay the man Shirley.

  99. Sarah says:

    Yay Nisky!!!

  100. Jandy says:

    POOP! ;)

  101. Jandy says:

  102. Jandy says:

Tanger lost his shorts and Fleury couldn’t stop a tire from an 18 wheeler.

  103. hockeymonster says:

Now all of a sudden they call every lil thing. Refs are a joke. Come on adams…

  104. Milo Hamilton says:

I think we’re spending too much time together. :)

  105. Florida Steeler says:

    Agreed, but it won’t happen.

  106. Jandy says:

    :covering eyes:

  107. JohninOshkosh says:

  108. Stlrfanrc (Ryan) says:

This is when my hockey season begins.

I missed the 1st period, but understand it was pretty sloppy.

I turned it on the see the BJ’s shortie. (That looks bad) but I can handle 2 goals in 2 shots.

I’m not a huge hockey buff, but it always seems that they struggle on defense.

To me, they seem lazy, but it could be the system they run.

  109. Jandy says:

they’re lookin better this second period. Fleury was brutal…he’s settling down now.

  110. hockeymonster says:

Columbus moving their pressure up and closing gap on forwards on breakouts. Flip the puck into the NZ to keep them honest. Then tape to tape breakouts should be there.

  111. Sarah says:

I think MAF is standing in line between 4 or 5 other guys

  112. Brandie says:

  113. Sarah says:

    No penalty????

  114. Jandy says:

  115. Andrew says:

  116. Jandy says:

  117. Sarah says:

    Garage League,
    Have at it Jandster!!!!

  118. Brandie says:

This is also a team that the Pens should not take for granted. The days of teams rolling over and surrendering to the Pens are over. Everything must be earned.

  119. Milo Hamilton says:

Fans littering the ice with garbage would be totally justified in this case.

  120. Sarah says:

No penalty shot, no penalty, and the net off call was AGAINST Sutter so the Faceoff is outside the zone.
    Astonishingly bad reffing.

  121. Jandy says:

    Grrrr!!! PIssin’ me off! >:<

  122. Dom says:

And people call me crazy when I say there’s a conspiracy against the pens…

  123. Brandie says:

Thanks for the shout out!!!! Feels good to be earning my way again.

  124. Jandy says:

YOu’re not crazy Dom, you’re just cute :)

  125. Lad 9 says:

B B B BRANNNNNDIEEEEEEEEE! Sounds like the job is going great from what I saw earlier! Very happy for you. :)

  126. Jandy says:

    Proud of you! <3

  127. Brandie says:

So Jandy’s next avatar should be a bag of NHL garbage for Grabage League?

  128. hockeymonster says:

Quick, someone tell sid a gold medal for canada is on the line.

  129. Jandy says:

I say we throw broken garage door openers on the ice ;)

  130. Lad 9 says:

I will second that. Garage league call

  131. Jandy says:

Someone needs to tell him something…anything…

  132. Dom says:

  133. Brandie says:

Happy to feel good again. Now let’s heave our boys onto victory!

  134. Milo Hamilton says:

You know, if CBJ keeps letting the Pens hang around like this …

  135. Brandie says:

Garbage not Grabage. That typo was inspired by Revvie!

  136. Jandy says:

and while you’re at it, smack Tanger upside the head

  137. Sarah says:

    Wow Letang, that’s a spear….

  138. Jandy says:

    My pleasure :)

  139. Florida Steeler says:

Get Letang out of there. What a stupid, cheap penalty.

  140. Jandy says:

    Gibbons showing tons of heart

  141. Milo Hamilton says:

Brian Gibbons has been terrific tonight. Much needed energy.

  142. Jandy says:

    THE LIttle Hobbit that can

  143. Brandie says:

I am all for a little thuggery, but WOW!

  144. Stlrfanrc (Ryan) says:

How was THAT not a penalty????

  145. Jandy says:

someone needs to knock Dubinsky into next week. Where is engo?

  146. Jandy says:

4 blind squirrels on the ice

  147. Lad 9 says:

Zing! Best shot of the night Milo. :)

  148. Jandy says:

And if THAT doesn’t motivate Sid, nothing will

  149. Stlrfanrc (Ryan) says:

Wow!!! What a block by the jackets goalie… though, but like any other sport, love and appreciate a great play

  150. Brandie says:

Bless him down to his big hairy Hobbit feet. He must have had “Second Breakfast ” (a favorites among Hobbits) this morning.

  151. Jandy says:

    just wow

  152. Jandy says:

    That’s Uncle Bob

  153. jm says:

Boone Jenner demonstrating what a big, bruising forward can do. We have a bunch of smurfs.

  154. Lad 9 says:

    What about elevenzies?

  155. JohninOshkosh says:

Maybe the Penguins shoul shave during the second intermission.

  156. Milo Hamilton says:

His mom Bruce must be so proud.

  157. hockeymonster says:

Kuni needs to bear down too. If we stay patient we’ll end up on some more odd man rushes, just need to bear down on chances.

  158. Stlrfanrc (Ryan) says:

    Letang needs a do-over

  159. Brandie says:

    Dang Meye-low!

  160. Jandy says:

    their feet???

  161. JohninOshkosh says:

    I’m dying here!!! Hahahahaha

  162. Stlrfanrc (Ryan) says:

Kinda scary here, but they killed it

  163. Jandy says:

    OMG! :snicker:

  164. jm says:

    Hilarious, and sadly kinda true.

  165. Milo Hamilton says:

Tampa has 3 goals on 12 shots against Montreal. Coming out of the Olympics Price isn’t used to so much work.

  166. JohninOshkosh says:

That silly facial hair superstition thing. You shave, you get a fresh beginning, right?

  167. Rbilak says:

    Thoughts after two

    1. Letang playing like a two year old throwing a tantrum. For once Dan actually makes a change.

    2. Yes Jenner, Dubinsky, the exact type of players we do not have.

    3. Looks like a preseason game, Pens get their wish and play “Globetrotter” hockey.

    4. Admit MAF looked better but I simply don’t trust him to come up big.

    5. Sutter weak on face offs. Lots of same trends we see over and over.

  168. JohninOshkosh says:

Why is hockey Canada’s game? One measly Canadian club in the tournament.

  169. hockeymonster says:

Looks like they’re over the over.

  170. Andrew says:

Sutter is 7 for 14 on faceoffs, only Pens player below 50% is Vitale at 3/7

  171. Stlrfanrc (Ryan) says:

Anyone catch that commercial with Ovechkin?

    What a tool

  172. Sarah says:

DK actually saying it was a terrific non call on Sutter. He saw no penalty. Good lord….

DK: The next person who can find anything remotely definitive that Tyutin did to break the rules will be the first.

  173. Milo Hamilton says:

Tide seems to be turning there. CBJ was over 60% early in the 2nd period.

  174. Andrew says:

Yeah its 28-26 Pens, got dominated in 1st.

  175. Stlrfanrc (Ryan) says:

Well, he knows more about that stuff than I do. I’ll roll with it

  176. Jandy says:

yeah..but Hobitts have hairy feet ;)

  177. Jandy says:

    haha he’s an azzzmunch

  178. Brandie says:

And that is why the Capitals will never win a cup with him. Hockey is just a vehicle to cultivate another career for the man who has a face that even radio wants to reject.

  179. Stlrfanrc (Ryan) says:

Pompeani disagrees. Says the refs missed to blantant calls, including the Sutter one.

That’s it, gotta find out what Madden says about it, if he’s not busy RT’ing porn stars.

  180. Eric Bowser says:

It is criminal how pathetic Bylsma is handling this game. Todd Richards is getting Jack Johnson against Malkin and Dubinsky against Crosby.

  181. Lad 9 says:

    That was priceless! Killing me.

  182. JohninOshkosh says:

What’s scary is to think how many takes the director gave him before settling on that one for the final print.

    Just awful.

  183. Brandie says:

Smurfs don’t. So what are they…Hobbits? Smurfs? Or are they Smurbbits?

  184. Jandy says:

    I friggin detest Dubinsky

  185. Jandy says:

  186. Milo Hamilton says:

He needs to get Bennett off left wing. What a mess in his own end.

  187. tcb says:

Montreal & Lightning 4-4, going to sudden death OT. I love the playoffs.

  188. Jandy says:

  189. Lad 9 says:

  190. Stlrfanrc (Ryan) says:

    Sweet ….now hang on

    Nice play by Martin.

His he an all or nothing kinda player?

  191. Sarah says:

    Thanks Bob!!! Ugly 6 hole.

  192. Florida Steeler says:

Letang and Martin have really struggled.

  193. Jandy says:

Martin is an excellent player. Most of the time. Like all the Pens, he has his “bad” moments

  194. Arriba Wilver says:

Hopefully the Pens can hold on, weather permitting.

  195. Milo Hamilton says:

  196. Barb says:

This team certainly makes me nervous. I have to admit I have not watched much but I have kept an eye what is being said here!

  197. Stlrfanrc (Ryan) says:

Might be suspended after 6, but not until the jackets tie it up

  198. Stlrfanrc (Ryan) says:

Isn’t he the one everyone wanted traded lat year, year before?

  199. Andrew says:

    Martin created that Sutter chance.

  200. Milo Hamilton says:

Momentum has really shifted. CBJ with only 4 shots in the 3rd & not much zone time.

  201. Sarah says:

    Argh Letang again???

  202. Jandy says:

    lol..there were some who did

  203. Jandy says:

  204. Milo Hamilton says:

I’m usually Gibbons biggest detractor but he deserves a star tonight.

  205. Sarah says:

Why is Bennett being Bylsma’d? Anyone see what he did? except for scoring the goal, I mean…..

  206. Milo Hamilton says:

He set up the go ahead goal, playing on the right side I might add.

  207. jm says:

    Scuderi is not good.

  208. JohninOshkosh says:

    Well done, AW.

  209. Stlrfanrc (Ryan) says:

The Pittsburgh Post Gazette reference was Greg Brown lame

  210. Eric Bowser says:

Kunitz hasn’t won a puck along the boards all game.

    Gibbons has been outstanding

    Fleury…. took this game over.

  211. Andrew says:

I do not think the Blue Jackets are winning the Dubinsky Crosby match up.

  212. Nate83 says:

Can someone please inform Neal and Letang that this is the playoffs and they are playing with a one goal lead.

  213. Barb says:

Hey there Jandy. I know it’s been a while.

  214. Andrew says:

    This is known.

  215. Jandy says:

I’m hoping he didn’t hurt his shoulder when he plastered whoever in the first period

  216. Jandy says:

    yes, yes, and yes!

  217. Jandy says:

    Good luck with that!

  218. Stlrfanrc (Ryan) says:

As my 15-year-old would say, Fleury’s in Beast Mode.

  219. Jandy says:

    Glad to see ya!

  220. Jandy says:

  221. JohninOshkosh says:

Last minute, one goal game, playoffs, y’all….

    Hang on to your butts.

  222. Jandy says:

    among other things ;)

  223. JohninOshkosh says:

  224. Jandy says:

    WOOP WOOP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  225. Stlrfanrc (Ryan) says:

Outstanding defensive play there at the end….not sure who it was though.

  226. Eric Bowser says:

    My 3 stars

    1st: Fleury
    2nd: Fleury
    3rd: Fleury

  227. Jandy says:

  228. Barb says:

    Well that was refreshing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

  229. Barb says:

  230. Jandy says:

    Give The Hobbit some love

  231. Stlrfanrc (Ryan) says:

    No kidding? Even better

  232. Nate83 says:

Nice to see him get some love from the fans in the 3rd period. He settled in nicely.

  233. Lad 9 says:

    15 to go…….

  234. Jandy says:

That was frustrating, unnerving, exhilarating, and invigorating all in the same game!!

  235. Stlrfanrc (Ryan) says:

  236. Lad 9 says:

The Hobbit played like a dragon tonight.

  237. Jandy says:

    Ill be gray or bald!!

  238. Eric Bowser says:

Gibbons was great… really liked how the switch for Gibbons to 1st RW and Bennett to 3rd LW made things work for those two lines. Good move by Bylsma.

  239. JohninOshkosh says:

  240. Jandy says:

    haha priceless!

  241. jm says:

    Letang first star?

  242. Jandy says:

don’t give up your day job

  243. Karen22 says:

    I’m exhausted!!

  244. Karen22 says:

    I’m already both….

  245. Milo Hamilton says:

As voted by the Columbus media, correct.

  246. Jandy says:

    I’m frazzled lol

  247. Well, the Blue Jackets gave the Pens a scare but that, thank heaven, was all they were able to do as the Pens were just able to avoid opening round humiliation. Goodnight all!

  248. hockeymonster says:

Gibby’s best game i’ve seen. Good for him. Nice to see PM wake up just in time. Tanger was solid defensively and did a good job flippin the puck out of zone when columbus started to pressure our breakouts. Overall i think that was columbus’ best effort.

  249. Andrew says:

The entire defensive corp struggled with the that forecheck in the 1st.

  250. Karen22 says:

    NIce to meet ya!

  251. Jandy says:

    zactly…can’t single just one out.

  252. jm says:

Agree with all, but I can’t excuse Letang. The dude’s a liability, and he just advertised to the entire NHL that he hates to be hit.

  253. Jandy says:

    good night james

  254. Jandy says:

I want to mention, that was the loudest I’ve ever heard the crowd at Consol on television

  255. Sarah says:

Well by that logic we give all three stars to Bobo.
Couple questionable goals on the first 3 and a 6hole stinker for the GW.
    Bob’s got my vote!

  256. Sarah says:

No excuse for Letang tonight. He had some good moments but he needs to settle down mentally. Stupid penalties and a poor decision as last man back on the shortie.

  257. Florida Steeler says:

He tried to give the game away.

  258. Jandy says:

    good night!

  259. Sarah says:

BB did well to make any impact in the 2nd and 3d periods, about 4 mins of ice time total.
    Is he benched or injured?

  260. chethejet1 says:

letang at some point has to be a defenseman who plays to his ability. For all of this year and most of last year he was below the line defensively. 7.5 million next year and he has to play up to that. I don;t think he will. Pens should win in 6 or 7. But I have zero confidence that they go beyond that round.
