  1. Reading says:

Another night of having to synch up the Pirates radio broadcast with the other team’s TV broadcast. When is hockey over again? Sorry Pens fans.

  2. theplanisworking says:

I have a serious question, but don’t want to sound goofy asking it……

DK always posts about the Bucco Blog having each games’ lineups, etc…… but when I go there, that is never the case. It seems to not be updated that much……… or am I just missing it?

I have to go to to get the full lineups for both teams, as ESPN only has the starting pitchers listed. I would like to go to a local paper to see this, not

    Just curious.

  3. GAWTS2009 says:

when baseball becomes relevant… about June.
Not meant to be an attack just Baseball’s an annoying long season. Love baseball but so many games causes every win or loss to feel less significant.

  4. GAWTS2009 says:

hummm, can’t say i’ve noticed that before but good observation.

  5. Tom P. says:

No, you are not missing it. I always appreciate it when someone posts the lineups on this thread.

  6. Hey, what am I paying YOU guys for? :)

Seriously, I thought someone had been putting them up here in comments. It’s really, really tough for me to do on a daily basis, which is why I stopped last year (until playoffs).

  7. GAWTS2009 says:

Sent DK a tweet. Maybe It’ll be a reminder.

  8. Nate83 says:

There are never game threads put on Bucco Blog. Just general discussion points. I really don’t blame them because there is already a place to discuss the game on the entry DK places for every game. Maybe that part should be taken off or Travis and Rob can post the starting line ups to these threads.

  9. theplanisworking says:

    Cincinnati Reds Lineup

    CF: Billy Hamilton
    1B: Joey Votto
    2B: Brandon Phillips
    RF: Jay Bruce
    3B: Todd Frazier
    LF: Roger Bernadina
    C: Devin Mesoraco
    SS: Ramon Santiago
    SP: Alfredo Simon

    Pittsburgh Pirates Lineup

    LF: Starling Marte
    2B: Neil Walker
    CF: Andrew McCutchen
    3B: Pedro Alvarez
    C: Russell Martin
    1B: Ike Davis
    RF: Travis Snider
    SS: Jordy Mercer
    SP: Charlie Morton

  10. theplanisworking says:

Oh, I can get them (see ^^^^^^^), just a general question.

I guess we just have to go get them. Sorta like delivering the newspaper for the delivery boy/girl. ;)

  11. Thundercrack says:

“Baseball’s an annoying long season. Love baseball but so many games causes every win or loss to feel less significant.”

And just when I thought there was hope for you. You were showing so much promise. And then you had to go and post that. SMH….as jandy would say.

Your invitation into the group is now on hold.

  12. NMR says:

And Dejan actually DOES work 24/7. ;)

  13. NMR says:

He clearly hasn’t read the blog for very long if he thinks ever win or loss feels less significant.

Hope you can catch on to everyone’s humor, GAWTSEIEIO

  14. GAWTS2009 says:

I’m only 23, haven’t seen much to keep me interested out of the home team but the bucco’s still have me as of now, usually I wain away after 10 games and strike back after the pens are done.

  15. GAWTS2009 says:

on that note: I’m off to mow my grandmother’s and parents yards. See you guys on the pens blog later haha.

Also, I already cashed in the e-vite from earlier you should’ve snail mailed it if you didn’t want a direct invitation!

  16. Reading says:

I kind of like the “annoyingly long season.” Otherwise, I might be forced to watch things like soccer, WNBA, golf (non-major tournament), Arena football, CFL, pro lacrosse, etc.).

  17. Tom P. says:

And you are really good at what you do. We can find somebody who will volunteer to post the lineups. I think it’s called delegating tasks.

  18. NMR says:

Fun Fact I: Billy Hamilton has reached base just four times by walk or HBP in his first 76 PA this season.

Francisco Liriano is responsible for half of those.

Fun Fact II: Billy Hamilton has been successful on just 2 out of 10 attempts to bunt for a base hit. That success rate is still just 2% lower than the rate at which he’s gotten hits swinging away (.220 BA).

  19. GAWTS2009 says:

Soccer another sport I love to play but find hard to watch. We need an mls team!

Ok now really going to mow this time

  20. Baywatch says:

    Is Alfredo related to Randall?

  21. theplanisworking says:

    No Bay, fettuccine.

  22. Bizrow says:

Josh Johnson will under go TJ surgery. Gets 8 mm this season and Padres have an option for 4 mm in 2015.

Thank you Josh for not signing with the PBC ;-)

  23. Ghost says:

Not a swipe at the young feller above, but baseball season just can’t get here soon enough for me and always ends leaving me wanting more. Wished I lived close to PNC to watch the Bucs. Was visiting Oakland last week and caught an A’s game. MLB baseball — anywhere, anytime — is one of life’s treats.

  24. Ghost says:

Wow! Guess we actually got lucky on that one then…
Injured elbows are breaking out everywhere, it’s astonishing. Is it just me, or are they statiscally up? Good article last week in the New York Daily News about youth baseball damage now probably showing up in this rash of arm injuries. Haven’t read it yet, but Tom Verducci apparently wrote about the same thing on the same day. And this has been brought up more than once by posters over on the Bucco Blog, over the winter. Not sure shutting down youth summer and fall ball is the right thing to do. But the right questions are being asked..

  25. Bizrow says:

I read an article recently about the numbers, what I remember is the numbers are way ahead time wise, but it could level out.

  26. Brandie says:

Curious to see what Charlie Morton is going to do tonight. I also want to see what the offense is going to do tonight. I think once everyone gets cooking the team will be interesting to watch.

  27. Bizrow says:

  28. Bizrow says:

MLBTradeRumors says he is the 16th major league starter, so that would not include Taillon

  29. Ghost says:

That’s one for every two teams, and we’re still in April. Yowsa.

  30. Ghost says:

“Once everyone gets cooking the team will be interesting to watch.”
Or at least we can have a pot luck dinner. :-D

  31. Alright Ghostavo! Brandrocite will love that one.

  32. Barb says:

    I’ll bring the potatoes.

  33. Brandie says:

    Mmm. Potatoes!!! :)

  34. GAWTS2009 says:

Love the beginning of the season just have never been able to stay with it after nhl playoffs start. Except last years mlb season that is

  35. theplanisworking says:

As a sidenote from this morning’s thread, re: Wrigley’s 100th:

The Cubs gave up 5 runs in the 9th to lose 7-5.

    The Curse continues …………. forever.

  36. Brandie says:

    Plancun Mexico!

  37. Tom P. says:

Anybody know why Russell Martin is not playing after being in the starting lineup posted above?

  38. Brandie says:

And Alfredo “Free Pass” Simon gives the gift of a Bucco 1-0 lead!

  39. Brandie says:

    Possibly serving his suspension?

  40. theplanisworking says:

I liked Captain Cave Plan. Funny stuff.
Hope all is sunshine and roses in your world, Cognac Brandie.

  41. Andrew says:

Yankees pitcher Pineda has been ejected in the 2nd inning for having pine tar on his neck.

  42. Barb says:

I heard that it was the “Manager’s” choice. Obviously. That was on the Fan 93.7.

  43. Barb says:

Didn’t he have pine tar the last time he pitched?

  44. theplanisworking says:

Where is George Brett when you need him?

  45. Chuck H says:

Already the Bucs have blown their opportunity to score by getting a hit. Thanks to the wildness of the Red’s pitcher for the 1 run we have . Walker had an opportunity to drive in Stewart who was on 2nd base. So much for hitting with RISP.

  46. Milo Hamilton says:

My between periods entertainment has morphed into David Phelps warming up. Pineda’s a moron, can’t throw a curve in the cold without it.

  47. Andrew says:

He had it all over his palm last game he pitched.

  48. Chuck H says:

And what about Mercer striking out with the bases jammed.

  49. Milo Hamilton says:

See, what goes around comes around. 31 years later. Brett’s getting a chuckle out of this.

  50. Andrew says:

Been following on gamecast, Simon not pitching well? That was middle, middle.

  51. Brandie says:

Thanks Captain! Just wanting to see a convincing win.

  52. Barb says:

    Andrew just lit Simon up.

  53. theplanisworking says:

Sometimes the Karma Train takes its’ good ol’ time.

  54. theplanisworking says:

I know this isn’t baseball related, but I just saved everyone 2 hours worth of time …………..

  55. Brandie says:

Didn’t Don Cornelius host that show in the 70’s?

  56. theplanisworking says:

    No, that was Afro Sheen.

  57. Brandie says:

I still use that stuff sometimes. Who wants a dull Afro?

  58. Milo Hamilton says:

Charlie Morton stinks. Hits the 7th man, walks the 8th hitter. Stinks.

  59. Andrew says:

What is Chris Stewart doing out there?

  60. Patrick(ri) says:

Why was it this guy is better than Sanchez?

  61. The Gunner says:

Ha ha, Milo. Charlie is starting his meltdown in the top of the 5th. Roy Halladay he ain’t!

  62. Patrick(ri) says:

Reds announcers are lashing the Pirates for lousy fundamental baseball.

  63. Milo Hamilton says:

I’ve never understood the fascination with a guy who has absolutely no clue where the ball is going.

  64. Brandie says:

Now Niskanen for tripping. This is the most self flagellating hockey team I have ever seen. Frustrating!

  65. Patrick(ri) says:

From Stewart throws to Davis backing up to ouch on possible dp, to Morton letting a very bad hitting pitcher get an 0-2 bunt Down. I can think of no rebuttals.

  66. Patrick(ri) says:

Backing up too “much,” no matter what the spell checker thinks.

  67. Brandie says:

Should have gone on the hockey thread. Got both threads going at once!

  68. Florida Steeler says:

Stewart is really bad but Jordy looked like he was trying out for the ballerina on that throw. Can Neal please get a shortstop that can play the game??

  69. theplanisworking says:

    Psssst ………. over there ————————->>>>

  70. Florida Steeler says:

Mercer does not belong in MLB

  71. The Gunner says:

I agree with you about Morton, Milo. He is so inconsistent, the BMTIB has been fooling around with this guy since 2009!! He has thrown 91 pitches thru 5 innings; I doubt it if he will make it thru the 6th,

  72. Andrew says:

Well apparently Stewart had one throwing error in 844 innings last year.

  73. Milo Hamilton says:

I have a hard and fast rule. I never look at the standings in April unless the Pirates fall 7 games out 24 days into the season.

  74. Stlrfanrc (Ryan) says:

Looks like Chuck is all about walks tonight.

Either way, I’m enjoying a beer or 12 in Myrtle Beach.

    Let’s Go Bucs

  75. Stlrfanrc (Ryan) says:

Jokes. I have so many to go along with this comment.

  76. Patrick(ri) says:

The terribly inconsistent play is deadly, even in April. Especially, as they are about to put three teams ahead of them in the division.

  77. Stlrfanrc (Ryan) says:

Nice to see Cutch hit his stride. Too bad the pitching sucks right now.

    Pitching wins.

  78. Patrick(ri) says:

Reds guys mentioned Marte leads the majors in strikeouts. Quit a feat for a lead off hitter! I like the guy, but that has to stop.

  79. Stlrfanrc (Ryan) says:

He’s struggling right now, for sure.

  80. The Gunner says:

Right now, the Bucs have a lot of issues (Marte, Pedro & his .173 BA, the pitching). And you can stick a fork in them tonight because they are DONE!!

  81. Patrick(ri) says:

Not that it matters much, but I think the ump squeezed Morris that inning

  82. Breakthestreak says:

Man, all the weaknesses the Bucs have are showing early in this season. But who knew Marte would regress this bad and our pitching would abandon us

  83. Patrick(ri) says:

    The final appearance of Gomez?

Next fan special = a Cutch bobble-hands doll?

  84. Patrick(ri) says:

These guys really need a rally, even if it falls short.

  85. Baywatch says:

I don’t know when I’ve seen the Pirates – yea, since 1996 – when they seemed to want it LESS than tonight.

  86. Baywatch says:

Myrtle Beach! My old stomping grounds! Have several for me!

  87. Patrick(ri) says:

  88. The Gunner says:

the Bucs now have a chance to tie the game – c’mon Cutch!

  89. Reading says:

    No magic tonight.

  90. Reading says:

It’s only been 35 years since the last championship. What’s another 35 years?

  91. Stuart says:

One bit of humor from a tough game to watch: Cincy announcers late in game noticed the woos, and said they thought they (woos) were unique to Great American Ballpark. Personally I think it would be cool to choke a wooer in mid-woo.

  92. Bizrow says:

  93. Bizrow says:

Magic was last season so far

  94. Bizrow says:

Pedulo couldn’t deal with a WS win right now, in 60, the town was shut down for two days

    It will come though

  95. Daquido_Bazzini says:

One run last night…Two runs tonight.
    Who’s counting?

  96. dennis says:

For what it’s worth, I am laughing.
