    GO PENS!!!

  2. Sarah says:

    How about that Tiger bullpen???

    Oh!! Crap wrong thread again!!!!

  3. Sarah says:

So. Peeps, how big is this game tonight?? I know it’s a long series and all…..but it feels bigger for the NYR than for us.
    They’ve gotta be BEAT.
It would be huge if they could nab home ice early.

Also….we’ve not played them since they got the very speedy St Louis, I think this will be very interesting actually.

Biggest mystery for me is how we seem to own Lundquist…..hope that continues!!!!

    Pens in 5

  6. Gene-Zo says:

Home ice, for whatever reason, has never been that crucial to the Pens in playoffs, historically (including the most recent series), has it? But it would be big for the Rangers to win after just disposing of the Flyers and playing such a tight schedule leading up to tonite’s game.

  7. Brandie says:

They can be beaten. The Pens must have the will, fortitude, drive, poise, and discipline to finish the job. Quality, competent hockey for 60 minutes.

  8. Very funny. Good one!

  9. Sarah says:

What was it? 5 games in 7 nights? Absurd.
I wonder if we have stats geeks amongst us…..has that EVER been asked before of a SC playoff team?

I know their fans whine, but this is wholly justified.

  10. Sarah says:

I hope they watch replays of MTL last night. Some serious mental poise and calmness with that team.
Kudos to Therrian. Not my fave coach but he should get props for how he had the Habs ready.

  11. Brandie says:

Therrien’s team is not Sofff and Supple.

  12. Sarah says:

    Gotta love this…..

Boston Globe now forced to denounce their own fans, Julien distancing himself from the racist vitriol last night, and the garbage thrown on the Habs after the game.

Eff them. Seriously. The Bruins reap what they sow. Always the victim, their guys are never dirty, never dive, never their fault. Thornton sends Orpik to the hospital and then cries like he’s the victim. Lucic sticks a guy in the nuts and calls him a coward. Jack Edwards calls Cooke an assassin.

They breed this in their fans. They encourage it. Then they pretend to be outraged? F them.

It’s a bitter harvest in Boston today. So it should be.

  13. theplanisworking says:

Philthadelphia and Boston have the worst fans by far.

    It isn’t even close.
New York fans always get a bad rap, but they are at least knowledgeable.
I have been to games in New York, and had a blast with those guys/gals.

    Philly and Boston? No thanks!

  14. Sarah says:

I think Boston is now tops on my list.
They’ve turned me into a PK Subban fan.
    THAT is saying something.

F them and the disgusting racist horse they rode in on.

    Allez Habs!!!

  15. Sarah says:

Hah!!! Not that team, for sure.

  16. Wild Bill says:

Personally, I think that Sarah is ready for the game tonight. If I didn’t already know her age – generally – I might accuse her of pre-gaming.

Ok, my spur’s in the ice. Let’s go Pens!

  17. Bizrow says:

My late wife was a Bostonian. From Framingham.

17,000 racist, obnoxious tweets is a horrible thing.

Such is our world right now.

But, IMHO, it represents the morons that are found everywhere.

Please don’t forget Boston Strong, to me, that is the true character of the city.

  18. Gene-Zo says:

I was almost ready to give up on that game and turn in for the night, when Subban scored on that wicked (dig it boston fans) slapshot. Blistering. NOW we have even more reason to root for the Habs over Boston. Boston stay classy? Not effing likely.

  19. The Greg Hallaman Show says:

Not really a great overall effort for Montreal, but Price was strong and the Habs got some bounces.

  20. The Greg Hallaman Show says:

…AND, Rask looked like just a regular human being instead of something out of MARVEL comics.

  21. theplanisworking says:

Little bit of useless trivia tonight……..

the Pens have defeated the Rags every time they have met in the playoffs…….. 4 series to none.

  22. Sarah says:

    I dunno Biz.
I totally get the bombings and thoughts and sympathy went out to all Bostonians from the bottom of my heart.
In think everyone felt the same way.

But really, not every team in the NHL behaves like this, plays the victim, is egged on by idiotic broadcasters like Jack Edwards, or ridiculous comments by coaches like Julien. Their comments and behavior are what breed this crap. Not every team does this. The fans behavior doesn’t happen in a vacuum.

Can anyone imagine Mike Lange making remarks like Edwards did about Cooke? comparing him to a Kennedy assassin?

When was the last time PGh fans threw bananas at a black athlete? Or garbage at anyone?

Could you imagine Bylsma playing the victim like Julien here? Julien talking about embellishment – and embarrassing the game? Seriously? Look in the mirror, -zzhole.

I get it that there are idiot fans everywhere, but FEW teams in the NHL encourage it, cultivate it, reward it like Boston.

Julien and the Globe ought to nut up and own it IMO.

But – Like all bullies they are actually pansies. And they run from it and pretend to be shocked.

  23. Bizrow says:

Hidden vigorish or it means nothing

  24. Sarah says:

    Oy!! No jinxing Plan!!!!!!

  25. Bizrow says:

Don’t judge many by a few

  26. BillyBaduka says:

    LET’S GO PENS!!!!

  27. Bizrow says:

  28. BillyBaduka says:

Racists (no matter where they are from) need to learn that lesson too.

  29. theplanisworking says:

Oh yeah, the Pens are 16-4 in games in those series. :)

  30. Sarah says:

    17k twitters my friend…..sigh….

  31. Sarah says:

I know!! And we were like 8-0 v Bs last year!!!!

    Yes, I am superstitious lol!!!

  32. theplanisworking says:

And, in other news, the Philtkys haven’t won a Cup since 1975.

  33. Purple Moose says:

    Lets Go Pens

  34. scapper says:

I worry about this schedule thing. Seems like the kind a thing a team can use as a singular rallying point. “The NHL screwed us…we’re supposed to be tired and we have no chance…”

Then again, that stuff goes only so far when the legs are screaming.

  35. Brandie says:

Trust me….I know a thing or three about Comeuppance. :(

  36. Purple Moose says:

Big night for Sid coming up

  37. JohninOshkosh says:

    Sounds loud.

Louder than the few country clubs I’ve been to.

  38. BillyBaduka says:

There a lot of good people in Boston too.

Maybe I shouldn’t have responded in the first place. Want to let this rest.

    Pens are playing New York.

    Let’s go Pens!

  39. Barb says:

Wow you are so right about it being loud. Can barely hear the announcers which is a good thing.

  40. JohninOshkosh says:

It’s weird. No announcers but I am getting the closed captioning.

  41. Sarah says:

    Good lord

  42. JohninOshkosh says:

    Look tired.

  43. Barb says:

Boo the bad guys score. Wake up Pens.

  44. Dom says:

    1-0 Bad guys

  45. theplanisworking says:

Pens showing their desire for a great start.

  46. Purple Moose says:

Maatta looked bad on that one and Fleury looked worse

  47. Sarah says:

First shot…again. Maata backing in a bit but that was awful. Didn’t see it hit anything .
    Just looked bad.

  48. Dom says:

I don’t know about you all but the rangers look tired to me.

  49. Sarah says:

After watching Price and Rask last night, jarring actually.
    C’mon Flower.

  50. theplanisworking says:

This Flower hasn’t bloomed since 2009.

  51. BillyBaduka says:

Those three days must have been tough on their constitution…

  52. Brandie says:

    Let’s wake the sleeping Penguin.

  53. Purple Moose says:

0 shots on goal…………….come on dude stay positive

  54. JohninOshkosh says:

    Get it together NBC.

  55. theplanisworking says:

We going to feed it a fish?

  56. Milo Hamilton says:

Two musts for the Penguins. Must not let Nash get off the schneid. Must keep the Rangers power play dormant. If either of those two things turn around for them it’s going to be big trouble.

  57. JohninOshkosh says:

    Regis has never sounded better.

  58. Brandie says:

Wake it up for a generous heaping helping of size 9 wide! :)

  59. hockeymonster says:

I wouldn’t freeze my chicken on that ice. No wonder they practice at southepoint. Mario, you really want you squad on that garbage?

That said, we need to move the puck quicker. Support is good. Crisp puck movement is not. Can we not have the puck explode off our sticks? Please.

  60. Sarah says:

    Well….at least we didn’t allow a shorty.

  61. theplanisworking says:

  62. Sarah says:

BTW was this a sellout? As of 4pm, seats avail….and it looks like it.

  63. JohninOshkosh says:

I was just thinking that. See a lot of seats.

  64. J Walter Weatherman says:

The Rangers defense is much better than the Blue Jackets defense. More calm and composed handling the puck in their own end.

  65. Sarah says:

  66. J Walter Weatherman says:

Nisky and Maatta look like tweedle-dee and tweedle-dum

  67. Sarah says:

WTF is Nisky doing behind the net with Maata????
Jeebus I get better protection in beer league!

  68. Purple Moose says:

What the he&$ was Crosby doing on that goal? He made no effort

  69. JohninOshkosh says:

Nobody picked him up. Standing by the goal watching the sunshine.

  70. Dom says:

Brad Richards is the Rob Mackowiak of the New York Rangers.

  71. Florida Steeler says:

    Maata looks totally lost tonight.

  72. Milo Hamilton says:

They won’t even need to dry out the gloves after this period.

  73. Purple Moose says:

So which team just played two games on Tues and Wed?

  74. JohninOshkosh says:

My wife’s analysis, “Richards is hot.”

Dated Olivia Munn. Olivia could have scored that goal.

    Now a Ranger PP.

  75. J Walter Weatherman says:

This whole team, from Crosby to Fleury, looks horrible. Not that they can’t still win this game, but it’s uncanny how they try to make everything as hard as possible for themselves.

Gauging how Fleury will play in a game is easily seen within the first 3 shots that he faces. If he struggles controlling rebounds, he’s “off”. He’s definitely off this game.

  76. Milo Hamilton says:

Wonder what would have happened if the Rangers had played well.

  77. Gene-Zo says:

Ugly period of hockey and it got progressively worse. Pens tight and disoriented. Rangers look “rested” with a lot of hop.

  78. Florida Steeler says:

The Pens need to make changes from the top -down. They are not as good as we believe. We have some good, skilled offensive players but defenses this time of year take them out of their game.

  79. Wild Bill says:

One really ugly period of hockey. Like the Pens expected them to roll over.

  80. Purple Moose says:

    Can Crosby play any worse?
    – He totally flubbed two good chances on the Power Play
    – Made no effort coming back on the 2nd goal
    – Committed the penalty

It seems as if he has totally lost his hand-eye coordination. Sure hope its not a head issue.

  81. theplanisworking says:

Nice to see the pens play like dogs.
    Mario, are you watching this?

Maybe the answer is to cancel more practices ………..

  82. Brandie says:

Case of not wanting to play 60 minutes of hockey. Looking disjointed and disinterested.

  83. Jandy says:

    Richards is hot?

UGH! I’ll lend your wife my glasses!

  84. hockeymonster says:

Maatta may need a rest. As bad as we’ve handled the puck the difference in the game so far is that maatta made a couple boo boos. That’s the good news. He got stepped around and knocked off the puck which is hopefully correctable but his TOI may be cut. And here’s hoping orpik is ready to go. Right sarah?

To me it just seems like we did some good things then fumbled the puck in ozone. Rangers are finely tuned but we have had and will have chances. Stay out of the box, move your feet and the puck.

  85. Andrew says:

Penguins breakouts suck again, puck support has been there but decision making/execution has been poor. Too loose in offensive zone, leading to a lot of easy exits for the Rangers and an uncontested neutral zone to skate through. Not sure what happen to getting traffic to the net.

Penguins will have to work hard to play worse.

  86. Rbilak says:

Well not a great start. Reoccurring themes.

    1. Dumb Penalties

    2. Powerplay gives up short-handed chances.

    3. Frustration.

    4. MAF with letdown goal and lost stick at least three times. Why?

    5. Refuse to play 60 minutes.

2 Periods to go, they have shown me wrong before but geez

  87. Jandy says:

    Primed and ready!

  88. radio wave says:

I know it is early, and this will probably be a jinx post. But I am shocked and thrilled with this first. Outcome.

  89. theplanisworking says:

    No they won’t.
It is possible they could play worse.

    That is the scariest part.

  90. Jandy says:

brush that off your shoulder, Sistah!

  91. Purple Moose says:

Sigh, its one thing to lose when the other team just plays better but this team hasn’t played a full game yet this playoff season. Getting sooooooo tiresome talking about the exact same subject every day.

  92. Brandie says:

Thanks for the morning shout out.

  93. Jandy says:

  94. hockeymonster says:

Chance were there a few times but seeing a lot of mishandles and fumbles as much as anything.

  95. Jandy says:

    Been missing my sistah…

  96. Jandy says:

  97. Milo Hamilton says:

DK says the Penguins aren’t trying. Glad he said something, I’m tired of pointing it out. Over and over and over …

  98. hockeymonster says:

Dont think its effort. Looks more like rust against a sharper rangers team. Hopefully this is a tide that shifts.

  99. Andrew says:

They could kick a couple into there own net, but that was bad.

  100. Jandy says:

    Lackadaisical is the correct description.

  101. Purple Moose says:

Almost feel bad for Coach One Plan Dan. What can you possibly say to this team when you walk into the locker room after that 1st period?

“Um guys, do you realize that it is freakin May 2 and not October 2″

  102. Milo Hamilton says:

Oh, it’s effort. Check out the laziness of Geno & Sid on the 2nd goal.

  103. radio wave says:

Do Rangers get any credit for their play?

  104. Purple Moose says:

For what? Scoring on an unscreened shot from the blue line or having a day and a half in front of the net on the second goal.

  105. hockeymonster says:

I know but we weren’t outnumbered. Just outmaneuvered after maatta let hagelin strip the puck. Lets see what happens.

  106. DJ says:

Olli playing terrible. That said, Nisky CANNOT vacate front of net.

    Cannot get a shot through.

    Spacing is O-zone is horrible.

Other than that, things going swimmingly so far.

  107. Jandy says:

Indeed they do, radio. They’re playing like they WANT to win. Making the Pens look lazy

  108. Milo Hamilton says:

The Rangers really didn’t do too much in that period except execute the fundamentals. Credit to them for that. They can play much better than that. You know what they look like when they get their legs moving. That’s what scares me.

    Hang in there radio. :)

  109. theplanisworking says:

After the 1st period, now we see why many of the experts picked the Rangers to win this series.

Million dollar talents, 10 cent heads.
    And a penny arcade coach.

  110. Milo Hamilton says:

I have no idea what game you’re watching.

  111. DJ says:

Olli HAS to take that check to make the play there.

    No side-saddling it.

  112. Jandy says:

I keep looking for them to start playing like a team

  113. Jandy says:

Kunitz timing and coordination way off

  114. Florida Steeler says:

    Great post!!!!

  115. DJ says:

Not sure if Nisky’s stick nipped it.

  116. J Walter Weatherman says:

Some of these penalty calls on the Rangers are a bit sketchy. Not that it seems to matter.

  117. Jandy says:

PP and the puck is played all around the perimeter….WTF?

  118. DJ says:

Can we please win a key faceoff?

  119. zorro says:

Agreed. That was totally unacceptable. How could you give less than 100%?

  120. Jandy says:

    stempy beats the king!!!!

  121. Jandy says:

    Nice screen by Goc

  122. Wild Bill says:

    That’s better.

  123. theplanisworking says:

    BOUT TIME, NUN !!!! ;)

  124. Jandy says:

Would someone please throw an entire cooler of ice cold gatorade over Neal?

  125. Jandy says:

    Darn right, Planimal!

  126. Purple Moose says:

Maybe just maybe the Rangers are tiring

  127. Brandie says:

  128. Brandie says:

    Is his hair on fire?

  129. Sarah says:

Finally. Lundquist looked lost on that, leaning left around the screen while Stemp came right,….

  130. Florida Steeler says:

Overall, our team speed is seriously lacking.

  131. Milo Hamilton says:

The Rangers are a very fast team but they don’t have their legs tonight. Understandably.

  132. Purple Moose says:

    Martin is just play outstanding.

Penguins need to stop forcing the puck to Crosby

  133. Milo Hamilton says:

Hope Kunitz wasn’t anywhere near that.

  134. Jandy says:

    Buckle up baby

  135. cherokee23 says:

That’s the kind of goal usually happens to fleury

  136. Jandy says:

  137. Purple Moose says:

He never touched it, good goal

  138. Jandy says:

No but something else might be when my size 9 wides hit him

  139. Dom says:

The ref looks more beat up than anyone playing the actual game.

  140. theplanisworking says:

    Now that is funny !!!

  141. Jandy says:

he took a puck to the face a couple games ago, Domski

  142. Jandy says:

he’s really getting me angry. wake the eff up, neal.

  143. Sarah says:

No touch on that puck by Geno! Tie game!

Now if they can just start TRYING, we might win!!!!

  144. Milo Hamilton says:

The Rangers aren’t playing a whole lot differently than they did in the first period. I would like to credit them & hope they continue to play this “well”.

  145. hockeymonster says:

Care to rephrase that for those who don’t speak ‘milo’?

  146. theplanisworking says:

Now they FINALLY have woken up!

    TIE SCIRE !!!

  147. Florida Steeler says:

    The stupid penalties continue.

  148. Milo Hamilton says:

Just having some fun with radio.

  149. Brandie says:

Yet he is supposed to like being the guy who checks back. He is inconsistent and that is unsustainable.

  150. J Walter Weatherman says:

Imagine what we’d be saying if the Pens PP looked as bad as the Rangers’

  151. radio wave says:

Pens dominate Rangers radio agrees it was a good goal.

  152. Milo Hamilton says:

Bennett – 2 for receiving. Awful call.

  153. J Walter Weatherman says:

Don’t worry, Milo. I got it … and appreciated it.

  154. Jandy says:

  155. zorro says:

Pens much better. That rangers PP has been pathetic

  156. Brandie says:

    They are indeed TRYING!

  157. Andrew says:

    Are there any non-stupid penalties?

  158. radio wave says:

    Rangers radio praising Paul Martin.

  159. Milo Hamilton says:

I used to listen to Marv Albert & Sal “Red Light” Messina.

  160. Sarah says:

    Kidding B! :-D

  161. Sarah says:

Bennett couldn’t rough my 6 month old kitten.

  162. Dave says:

    Where is Mario tonight?

  163. Dave says:

  164. Eric Bowser says:

Missed the first period as daughter had music recital… guess the Pens did too.

Second period didn’t look good but Rangers were up to the task and blew their 2-goal lead.

    Crosby at 267 minutes (11+ games) without a goal……

  165. Brandie says:

I am not…all though it is a bit tongue in cheek.

  166. Milo Hamilton says:

I think if the Pens can weather the first 5 to 8 minutes of this period, they should be in good shape.

  167. Eric Bowser says:

Sutter is still best Pens forward….. great change but Pens need Crosby to be that guy.

  168. J Walter Weatherman says:

    Fleury looks … better.

  169. Milo Hamilton says:

    Sid. I feel it.

  170. Eric Bowser says:

Just survived those 2 great chances

  171. Jandy says:

    I’d love to See it

  172. Florida Steeler says:

    ours isn’t much better.

  173. hockeymonster says:

Time to go back to you know what…

  174. Milo Hamilton says:

Onus on Hank. Pens should carry the play now.

  175. DJ says:

Waiting for Letang to get one puck on net.

He “owns” the glass behind Lundy though.

  176. theplanisworking says:

Are you sure that isn’t the turkey sandwich you had?? ;)

  177. Milo Hamilton says:

    Meatloaf. And you’re probably right.

  178. Brandie says:

    Ol Hank Lungfish.

  179. theplanisworking says:

  180. theplanisworking says:

  181. JohninOshkosh says:

The other NY playoff team playing tonight is in the process of blowing a 26 point second half league. Both NY teams struggling to the finish.

    C’mon Pens.

  182. JohninOshkosh says:

I love meatloaf sandwich. I just had the worst pub burger I’ve ever had.

  183. Brandie says:

    Good Gravy!

  184. theplanisworking says:

The family had Long John Silver’s tonight.
    I ate a pasta salad.
Haven’t eaten fried food in years.

    I don’t even know if I could classify Long John’s as food…. ;)

  185. theplanisworking says:

    And biscuits?

  186. scapper says:

After watching Sid on that last 2 on 2, I have no doubt that he is nursing some sort of lower body injury. He never just coasts like that without making a play. No hard cut or drive in him right now.

  187. hockeymonster says:

    87 and 71

  188. JohninOshkosh says:

    No OT

Score and don’t let this go into extra time.

Wild play in 15 min for God’s sake.

  189. Brandie says:

Seeing Sid in a Marlo Thomas floppy wig as “That Guy “.

  190. Milo Hamilton says:

Rangers defense doing a great job keeping the Pens out of the middle. Forcing everything to the boards.

  191. Brandie says:

    Flippy, not floppy.

  192. Stlrfanrc (Ryan) says:

Haven’t been a huge fan of 22 tonight, but that little move was pretty sweet, too bad it didn’t go in.

  193. JohninOshkosh says:

I thought they had ‘em on that final rush.

  194. scapper says:

What is it, four straight OT losses by the Pens? Vigorish…vigorish!

  195. hockeymonster says:

I miss steigy and bibster…these guys are confusing sutter with neal and Goc with Sid…yes Goc with sid.

  196. JohninOshkosh says:

I wonder if Kenny Albert has the same S/M fetish as his brother.

  197. radio wave says:

You would think the pens had a four minute pp the way they dominated. Win or lose, love playoff ot.

  198. Brandie says:

What are they smoking? That’s like confusing Don Rickles with Don King! That just shouldn’t happen.

  199. Brandie says:

    Made of Lungfish.

  200. Milo Hamilton says:

    Marv’s his dad.

  201. theplanisworking says:

I got sick just at the smell.
Fast “food” and I do not get along.

    Lungfish or not.

  202. JohninOshkosh says:

Really ? I did not know that. I guess I thought Kenny was older than he actually is. But come to think of it, Marv must be in his 70’s. lol. I guess Kenny must be close to my age.

  203. Milo Hamilton says:

Marv’s brothers are Steve & Al. Both in the business.

  204. JohninOshkosh says:

Yeah, his brother used to market chocolate Ding Dong rip offs shaped as hockey pucks with team logos on the wrapper.

  205. theplanisworking says:

I look for Sid to score 2. :)

  206. Nate83 says:

I don’t know much about hockey but it seems like Letang is trying to set a record for icing the puck in one game.

  207. J Walter Weatherman says:

What do you do? Bench Crosby? Honestly, his poor play is the story of the Pens playoffs.

  208. JohninOshkosh says:

  209. Jandy says:

    saw that coming….good night

  210. Milo Hamilton says:

    Crosby minus 3.

  211. Purple Moose says:

Two bums of the playoffs so far. Scuderi casually gives the puck away behind the net and Crosby is in front of the net covering……nobody.

  212. theplanisworking says:

    Penguins minus 1.
Way to blow home-ice advantage, guys.

    See ya Sunday.

  213. Florida Steeler says:

what a frickin joke by the defense

  214. Stlrfanrc (Ryan) says:

Is it just me, but the pens aren’t very good at clearing the puck?

It could be me, but it always seems like the puck is in the Pens zone longer every game. (No, I didn’t check any stats)

  215. JohninOshkosh says:

    Crosby looked and played tired.

  216. radio wave says:

  217. J Walter Weatherman says:

For as bad as Scuderi played in the regular season, he hasn’t been bad in the playoffs. Sid is no better than an average NHL player in these playoffs. You don’t pay $9M/year for an average playoff player. I’m moving into the camp that believes he’s injured. I don’t want to think about the other possible explanations.

  218. Purple Moose says:

If he is hurt, why doesn’t anybody in the media give a hint of that. They are not paid employees.

If he is not hurt, then he should be ashamed of himself.

  219. Purple Moose says:

Yep, not only is he not scoring goals but he is directly responsible for two against tonight with lazy play

  220. Wild Bill says:

Rangers actually score twice to get one. Pens not ready again early in overtime.

  221. Purple Moose says:

He just had 4 days off

  222. JohninOshkosh says:

You might be onto something about the injury angle, Walt.

  223. Gene-Zo says:

It’s hard to clear it when the other team consistently beats you to loose pucks in your end. And yes, the Rangers seemed to get more O zone time in the third and then OT.

  224. zorro says:

    Crosby is the new Bonds.

  225. Eric Bowser says:

Crosby -3, 275 minutes played in the last 12 games without a goal

Kunitz blew that clearing chance that lead to The Broken Piece turning puck over. Fleury didn’t stand a chance.

  226. Gene-Zo says:

If the Pens show up for the 1st pd, it never goes to OT.

  227. DJ says:

Second time tonight our D-man left the front of the net to chase a forward.

Nisky, then Borts, then game time.

  228. mike says:

    Jokinen-Malkin-Neal is hot garbage.

  229. Stlrfanrc (Ryan) says:

Glad it wasn’t just me. I’m not the best hockey mind in the room, that’s for sure.

  230. DJ says:

    That’s normal for us.

No extra effort by Rangers needed.

  231. Purple Moose says:

Cant wait to see the quotes tomorrow

    – We didn’t come out ready to play
    – We have to match their intensity
    – We have to play 60 minutes

  232. Gene-Zo says:

Which team looked “tired” at the start of the OT? Not the Rangers. As said above, Pens “not ready” for OT = quick ending.

  233. Sarah says:

Sadly Scuderi had been having a solid game.
I cannot think Sid is 100%.
    Just can’t.

  234. Sarah says:

When Scuderi Glass or Adams are on the ice, then yes they get pinned in their zone frequently for long stretches.
Watch for 15, 27, and 4 in those sequences.

  235. hockeymonster says:

Not to make excuses but refs gave the rangers a few breaks. Definitely didn’t feel like home ice advantage when Nash clipped BB or when the puck came out of the zone in linesmans head prior to rangers 2nd goal. But better start could’ve cured all.

  236. Purple Moose says:

I could think of 87 reasons the Pens lost this game and the referees aren’t one of them

  237. hockeymonster says:

We outshot them 27-12 in 2nd n 3rd and we’re only plus 1 in calls. I know the rangers were tired cuz they played phillthy this morning but it was a lil silly. That phantom offsides on maatta was classic.

  238. NormL says:

It’s the end of the world. Did the dadgum Pirates just win?

  239. Rbilak says:

Yes the 3 excuses of the game.

    1. Power play must produce (Kris Letang, cannot be trusted to play on #1 powerplay, that is quite a statement)
    2. Lots of pressure on team to win cup
    3. 60 minutes of regulation is too much time for Pens to play

  240. Sarah says:

Hope DK or so done asks Bylsma about the lack of BBs TOI, less than Adams, again.
Even Pierre was calling it out on the broadcast.

  241. NormL says:

Let’s have a Marte Partey…..oh wait….yea….we should throw ourselves in a ditch and cash’em in. Fear not….we’ll subdue the not-so-sleepy Rangers!

  242. chethejet1 says:

pens no face game two and have to win. We will see if the Pens play with some passion or not. My guess is not enough passion to win the series, but it will be an indication of where the franchise is. Crosby just doesn’t have any jump and looks about 80%. Not good.

  243. hockeymonster says:

Was just thinking it may be time to try gibby for Adams. Rangers speed an issue and they’re well coached. Gibby could help sid and replace Adams on pk. That is if gibby is ok and disco could find a way to consider it.

  244. d says:

Wait, the Pens were supposed to be the rested team, they were supposed to walk all over the Rangers, right?

  245. Bizrow says:

Its one game, as the Badger said, you gotta win 4

  246. Andrew says:

    Bennet: Total 12.9. 5v5 12.8
    Adams: Total 11.1 5v5 5.9

But I agree Bennet might not be a bad option on 2nd PP unit, he did take a couple penalties.

  247. d says:

Don’t you remember, according to Caesar aka DK, Adams frightens the Pens coaching staff so I don’t think Gibbons is going to take his place :)

  248. d says:

True, but this was a very important game…going to set the tone for the rest of this series.

  249. Andrew says:

It is overtime hockey, a lot of little things matter in the end.

  250. Andrew says:

    Anything constructive to add?

  251. Bizrow says:

A big win for the Rangers

    But, gotta win 4

  252. d says:

Perhaps a few James Neal cheap shots to the neck might help the Pens chances on Sunday??

  253. d says:

Oh yeah. the Rangers only need to win 3 more…just sayin.

  254. Andrew says:

I’ll take that as a no.

  255. Andrew says:

Quite a few comment for not saying much; a statement of fact, a couple of straight troll posts, and something about tone.

    Have a good night.

  256. Bizrow says:

    Lets bitch about Boston

    Takes 4

  257. hockeymonster says:

Carcillo got away with a knee on knee on vitale early too. More blatant than when vitale got called in Columbus.

  258. NastyNate82 says:

Stop with the Cooke stuff. He has two years of being a model citizen in Pittsburgh and everyone here seems to think he walks on water. He’s a thug.

  259. NastyNate82 says:

So was the failure of the refs to see Malkin batting Lundqvist’s glove out of the way on the second goal.

  260. NastyNate82 says:

Exactly. Just like the Sharks did in their first game against the Kings. Oh wait…

  261. Arriba Wilver says:

I blame it on Travis Snider.
