Comments

  1. Brandie says:

    GO PENS!!!!!!

  2. Jandy says:

    What she said!

  3. Cal Hammer says:

Yea there gonna need 4 goals with Fleury hope someone wakes up the best hockey player in the world my a$$!

  4. Karen22 says:

    She times three! :)

  5. Brandie says:

    TWENTY-TWO!!!!!!!

  6. The Pirates couldn’t sweep today and tomorrow, they face the Giants, who’ve won 5 straight and 9 of their last ten. And so, we may as well concentrate on tonight’s hockey playoff game and hope that the Pens win that one.

  7. hockeymonster says:

Move feet quick and puck quicker we must. Hold the line maximus style with strong F3 when trap isn’t in place if we wish to avoid the dark side.

AV is big on moving defensive pressure up so let’s be ready to over the top to give our speed a chance to get their d in their heels. Speed and numbers need to lead to dump ins and physical forecheck. NYR are speedy n skilled but also finesse oriented. Trying to skate puck into zone I believe will lead us into their structure and positioning. Let’s drop the haamma on forecheck instead. Atleast early.

May the fourth be with yooouuuu…

  8. Jandy says:

    Sistah Brandie!

  9. Karen22 says:

    You rang??

  10. Karen22 says:

You ladies are too much! :D

  11. Bizrow says:

    Very nice, hockeymoster ;-)

And I’d take the force with Sid

  12. Rbilak says:

    1. We know the a Pens refuse to play 60, so which period will they take off tonight?

    2. Get the feeling Letang will be on #1 PP, they will give up a shorty if it happens.

    3. If Gibbons plays, Adams should sit but we all know that will never happen.

    4. Everyone has an excuse on Sid, whatever it is or isn’t, there is no reason based on recent play, that he will do anything different tonight.

    5. Maatta and Matt must play better. Tonight is a must win and Coach Dan better realize it.

The biggest difference in this series vs Columbus is in goal. Pens are not going to get cheap ones. Every time I count them out they win. If they win tonight, it will be Geno. No early, letdown goals, no dumb penalties, no short handers. No Scuderi late in game on a PK. We shall see.

  13. JohninOshkosh says:

    Oh, Wild.

  14. Jandy says:

    +++

  15. theplanisworking says:

    ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

  16. theplanisworking says:

Pens better wake up tonight, or it’s 0-2 back to the Gahden.

Need to play disciplined D, not hair-on-fire get lost in a round room D.

Oh, and a goal by Sid would be so nice.
    Unless he is hurt.

  17. Brandie says:

    Why, it’s Plan Bylsma!

  18. Karen22 says:

    SHOOOOOOOOOOOOT THE PUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  19. Karen22 says:

Plan, if he is hurt, he should be on the bench where he can’t HURT…as in, the team.

  20. theplanisworking says:

There is more to it than meets the eye.

Please root on a victory for the team.
I will see yinz later, or tomorrow.

  21. Barb says:

    ++++++++++++++++

  22. Purple Moose says:

I have read a couple items and just saw a video on NBCSN that disturbs me greatly about Crosby.

    - Read today that he talked Bylsma in keeping Dupuis on his line last year instead of Iginla
    - Just saw a video from last game showing him yelling at Bylsma and coach backing off and apologizing

More proof of what a weak coach we have and a poor captain who wants it his way instead of whats best for the team.

  23. BillyBaduka says:

    LET’S GO PENS!!!!

  24. Pucknutz says:

    LETS GO PENS !!!

    Lets play a smart 60.

Sid? I do not have a clue what the problem is.

  25. Brandie says:

    Agreed Billy Badazz!

  26. Brandie says:

Dreaded head in heinie injury perhaps?

Seriously, I hope he is not hurt.

  27. Milo Hamilton says:

    Mild.

  28. Sam says:

Not that there was a Jeremy Roenick slant to that NBC bit at all…

  29. Purple Moose says:

Wonder what Craig Adams and/or Rob Scuderi would have to do to ever get scratched?

  30. Milo Hamilton says:

    Glass scratched. Gibbons in.

  31. Andrew says:

    Objective evidence or confirmation bias?

  32. Sam says:

    the later

  33. Barb says:

    A missing limb?

  34. Purple Moose says:

Dejan is the one that wrote about Crosby demanding who his linemates be last year, not NBC

  35. Sarah says:

    SERIOUSLY???

Bylsma is afraid for his job again……

  36. Milo Hamilton says:

Could you imagine relying on Brian Gibbons to save your job ? :)

  37. Sarah says:

Really. This is what it has come to…..

  38. Andrew says:

Cross check a guy into the goalie = PP for your team, been calling that all playoffs.

  39. Sarah says:

    Oy, Kunitz…..

  40. Sarah says:

    And now Nisky. WTH?

  41. Milo Hamilton says:

Funny, but the last time the Pens saw Benoit Pouliot in the playoffs he spent much of the time plastered to the bench. His coach didn’t trust him enough to put him out there in tough situations. Montreal 2010 – Jacques Martin.

  42. Sarah says:

That’s not a penalty when they do it to Crosby.
    WTH?

  43. Sarah says:

If true, need a new coach ASAP.

  44. Milo Hamilton says:

If sometime soon the Rangers actually decide to show up, this will be a very short series.

  45. Andrew says:

Bold rope a dope, strategy by the Penguins.

  46. Milo Hamilton says:

Pens shorthanded 6 of the first 9 minutes & gave up 3 shots.

  47. Milo Hamilton says:

    Ali, bomaye !

  48. Sarah says:

Still waiting for a successful clear from Adams….

  49. radio wave says:

Said it before game 1, rangers pp stinks.

  50. hockeymonster says:

Refs are a joke. Total embarrassment.

  51. Sarah says:

    And TG for that…..

  52. Andrew says:

I was thinking go down by three, send out Gibbons to fight Carcillo and get destroyed, comeback.

  53. Purple Moose says:

I just love Bortuzzo, he is that guy that every team and their fans hate but you want on your team.

  54. Milo Hamilton says:

With the Rangers power play being so inept, I have absolutely no problem with the Penguins taking liberties. That would require a little extra effort of course.

  55. Jandy says:

    So does the Pens’

  56. Milo Hamilton says:

Cue the media saying how great Sid looks not scoring.

  57. Jandy says:

You’re just sayin’ that cuz it’s true.;)

  58. Sarah says:

I’m flipping between Lange and NBC…..is NBC really saying this is because the Pens are injured???
    Cue the Excuse Machine…..

  59. radio wave says:

Actually Rangers radio praised the Pens pp compared to the Rangers.

  60. Rbilak says:

    First Period Thoughts

Neither team wants to make mistake

Surprise we took bad penalties, who saw that coming?

    Sid had two chances

Ranger power play is horrible and Pens looks scared to give up shorty

Does not feel like a playoff game.

  61. radio wave says:

I am getting the impression that this game is more physical than game 1. Am I correct?

  62. Sarah says:

I’m sorry but Kunitz brings nothing anymore.
Used to go behind the net, in corners, crush guys, get Sid the puck…..now he’s floating around like…..Ovechkin almost.
    WTH?

  63. Purple Moose says:

Martin has been outstanding this playoffs and Letang not making too many big mistakes

Crosby played better but its a shame that he is getting praise for trying hard but still not producing much of anything

  64. Jandy says:

Sorry Oshie, Mild down 2 games to 0 :(

  65. Purple Moose says:

Agree Sarah and was going to say the whole long year thing with the Olympics but why is it only the Penguins players who seem to always have excuses made for them like the Olympics. Every star in the league played in the Olympics and most of them are still playing pretty well.

  66. Sarah says:

Maybe the Olympics went to his head and he thinks he’s a skill player now. Good lord.

  67. Sarah says:

Yes let’s pay 7+ mil to a guy so he doesn’t f-ck up too much. Oy.

  68. Jandy says:

    Seems that way radio

  69. Purple Moose says:

Right again. Guess he has to sacrifice all of his offense to not make any mistakes on defense. Oh well

  70. cobra39 says:

I don’t see the poor play from Kunitz. Maybe I’m not noticing.

  71. Jandy says:

why does NO ONE get in front of the net to screen Henrik????

  72. Jandy says:

Monster Mash is very quiet…that’s NOT a good sign…

  73. Sarah says:

That is the problem….you don’t notice him anymore. His job is to make Sid better. Hasn’t happened for awhile.

  74. Sarah says:

    That would take b-lls.

  75. cobra39 says:

    I did notice that ….

  76. Jandy says:

That’s NOT the way I want to notice Kunitz

  77. Jandy says:

    cajones

  78. Purple Moose says:

WHY IS SCUDERI KILLING PENALTIES. He just made 4 bad hockey plays in a 30 second sequence

  79. Sarah says:

    Kunitz!! Arggh!!!!!

  80. Purple Moose says:

    You were saying Sarah?

  81. Jandy says:

    Oy!

  82. Sarah says:

Because Dan Bylsma would rather lose than be wrong.
Until he’s about to lose his job at which point he will change.
    Temporarily.

  83. Jandy says:

    Oy Vey!

  84. Milo Hamilton says:

How many bad football plays ?

  85. Sarah says:

What? Kunitz brings nothing to Crosby anymore.

A breakaway out of the penalty box (which he failed to convert) does not change that.

  86. cobra39 says:

Fleury may have to be near perfect tonight.

  87. Sarah says:

Also, because Bylsma plays favorites, to a stupid degree.
At this point I actually think he’d rather be fired than scratch Adams.

  88. hockeymonster says:

Out tonight but watching. Need to cycle and get ugly goal.

  89. cobra39 says:

I think Moose was agreeing with you.

  90. Purple Moose says:

Lots of interference starting to happen in neutral zone by the Rangers

  91. Purple Moose says:

    I was

  92. Florida Steeler says:

Why do we not get traffic in front of Henrik? You will not beat him openly. But, we never have men in front of the net–offensively or on defense. Guess its not in Danny’s book.
Flyers beat him three times with people like Hartnell driving him crazy in front of the goal.

  93. Sarah says:

My bad guys, on edge tonight!!!

  94. Sarah says:

    Agree. Daunting notion.

  95. Jandy says:

    Breathe, Sarapovski :)

  96. Sarah says:

    Yah!!!!!!

  97. Milo Hamilton says:

Good job Sarah. It never fails. :)

  98. cobra39 says:

    GOAL!

  99. Andrew says:

Kunitz went to the net there.

  100. J Walter Weatherman says:

Nice play by Letang in front of his own net and connecting with Kunitz. There’s my annual Letang compliment.

  101. Jandy says:

He heard you, Sarah LOL. YOu pissed him off

  102. Sarah says:

Kunitz!!! I take it all back!!!!

  103. Carlos Danger says:

Kunitz must have heard Sarah’s comments…

  104. Jandy says:

    +++++

  105. Sarah says:

Actually….not sure Kuni touched that at all….
    No matter.
    GO TO NET!!!!!!

  106. Jandy says:

    Indeed!

  107. Sarah says:

    Tangers goal I think…..

  108. J Walter Weatherman says:

It wouldn’t have been a goal unless Kunitz had gone hard to the net there

  109. Sarah says:

Who knew I had this power lol???

    SID SUX!!!!!!!

  110. cobra39 says:

Sarah, you need to call out players more often. Who else are you unhappy with? This time, name an entire line.

  111. Andrew says:

If you are referring to the PP sure, but the Flyers 5v5 scoring rate was only better than the Red Wings this playoffs.

  112. cobra39 says:

    Nice!

  113. Barb says:

Finally!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am watching my PBS programs because the Pens are making me nervous.

  114. Jandy says:

    Bodacious!!

  115. Jandy says:

    very true

  116. Barb says:

Good evening Jandy. Keep up the good work and I’ll pop in every now and then.

  117. Jandy says:

    woo-hoo Sistah!!

  118. Jandy says:

    We’re working on it! ;)

  119. bpn8pitt says:

    Oh my :)

  120. cobra39 says:

    Solid play by Adams there.

  121. Milo Hamilton says:

Listening to Mike Lange call exciting playoff hockey is priceless. Tonight ain’t so bad either. :)

  122. Sarah says:

    Hah!
    SIDS line for sure!!!!

  123. Sarah says:

I love Lange. Never listen to Root anymore.

  124. cobra39 says:

That’s what I do. The timing difference is worth it.

  125. bpn8pitt says:

Limited hockey knowledge, but Rangers goalie keeping them in it.

  126. J Walter Weatherman says:

It turns out that Lundqvist is a pretty good goalie.

  127. Milo Hamilton says:

If you have a DVR, pause it to make it match. You can also delay the audio on your computer to sync it up.

  128. Purple Moose says:

Me too but I delay the DVR by a few seconds and it syncs up perfectly

  129. cobra39 says:

    Fleury answers!

  130. Purple Moose says:

    It should be 4-0

  131. cobra39 says:

Didn’t know you could delay the computer. Thanks — I’ll try that.

  132. Florida Steeler says:

Who cares about five on five scoring rate?? Flyers won three games against Henrik and nearly won game 7. The Pens have had power plays against Henrik–so what is your point??

  133. Jandy says:

    you have it right, bpn

  134. Florida Steeler says:

would have, should have, could have.

  135. Milo Hamilton says:

And on cue twitter is abuzz. Sid looks so much better tonight not scoring than he has before when he …wasn’t …scoring.

  136. Sarah says:

Hendrik Lundquist is a good goaltender.
    That is all.

  137. cobra39 says:

    Well played.

  138. Andrew says:

Most of hockey is played 5v5, and the Flyers were terrible at it.

  139. JohninOshkosh says:

There are mere mortals, and there are the Black Hawks. Like kittens with a ball of yarn-they tease and toy.

Always grateful to have a playoff game in the Twin Cities, though. Great fans that had their hearts pulled out from them.

  140. Rbilak says:

    2nd Period

    - Pens should be up by more than one

    - Letang played well

    - Bortuzzo better not see bench rest of playoffs. #freebortuzzo #jailscuderi

    - 3rd period nail bitter, I would love to see them win 1-0, but something tells me that won’t be final

  141. Jandy says:

Oh I enjoy watching the Hawks play. Just would love to see the Wild advance

  142. Sarah says:

I’ve no idea what to think about Sid….
So what’s been going on with him is NOT a physical injury after all?

  143. JohninOshkosh says:

Another one of my wife’s boyfriends.

  144. Jandy says:

LOL! YOu sound like my hubby….

  145. Sam says:

Anybody else entirely sick of McDonalds “random red couch”?

  146. Jandy says:

    :raises hand:

  147. Sarah says:

    He is QUITE handsome!

  148. JohninOshkosh says:

Don’t worry, I have my share of girlfriends. :)

  149. Jandy says:

    eye candy is good :)

  150. Dom says:

You think for all the money that company makes, they could produce a decent advertisement.

  151. Jandy says:

Dom, your man is standing oh his head!

  152. Milo Hamilton says:

Well, The Pens are so good defensively & so good at protecting leads this should be a piece of cake.

  153. Purple Moose says:

Nash looks like he is skating in mud

  154. cobra39 says:

Ollie Maata amazes me. So cool under pressure, especially for a youngster.

  155. Andrew says:

That one ref is constantly too close to the play.

  156. Purple Moose says:

NBS only has 5 commercials and they play them over and over and over again

  157. Sarah says:

    He is truly special.

  158. Dom says:

He’s the only one on the ice displaying Lundquist.

  159. Brandie says:

Watching the game and episodes of Pittsburgh Dad. Hank Lungfish is not to be dismissed, though my bodice ripper heart throb Marc -Andre is not too shabby in goal.

  160. Dom says:

That was supposed to be out playing, not displaying.

  161. Milo Hamilton says:

Fleury gets fuel & 2 right side tires.

  162. Jandy says:

    woah!

  163. Jandy says:

    now he can smoke ‘em!

  164. Jandy says:

    +++++

  165. J Walter Weatherman says:

When is the last time the Pens have scored on a 3rd period PP when they’ve had a lead? They completely lose their focus and intensity in those situations. Almost cost them Game 6 of the Blue Jackets series.

  166. Milo Hamilton says:

    And here we go again.

  167. Jandy says:

    Thank you Dorsett

  168. Milo Hamilton says:

    I’ll be cow kicked.

  169. cobra39 says:

    JUSSI!

  170. Andrew says:

Can we keep calling them out?

  171. J Walter Weatherman says:

It appears I have the reverse-jinx mojo going tonight as well…

  172. Jandy says:

    Mooooo!!!

  173. Jandy says:

    Good job!

  174. Dom says:

    Lundqvist is now imploding!!!

  175. cobra39 says:

That bloody ref is always in the way!

  176. Dom says:

That’s what I was thinking. No wonder why the one ref got that black eye.

  177. Purple Moose says:

The Rangers have hardly been moving tonight, not sure how they will have any legs tomorrow night.

  178. Dom says:

    That’s game!

  179. J Walter Weatherman says:

Chalk one up for Hustle+Skill on that EN goal.

  180. Jandy says:

Tomorrow night will be VERY interesting

  181. Milo Hamilton says:

Kris Letang has easily been the Pens best player in this series.

  182. cobra39 says:

    Elvis hits the exits.

  183. cobra39 says:

    FleuRy –SHUTOUT!!

  184. Dom says:

Lundqvist attempted his best Fleury but it wasn’t meant to be.

  185. J Walter Weatherman says:

It’s ironic that Fleury got a SO and wasn’t even the best goalie.

Great game by Pens. Go get’em tomorrow.

  186. Jandy says:

    woop woop!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  187. Milo Hamilton says:

That’s 13 straight losses for Lundqvist when the Rangers lead a series. And that said, he was great tonight.

  188. J Walter Weatherman says:

As shocking as that sounds, you might be right.

  189. Jandy says:

    really? Better than Martin?

  190. J Walter Weatherman says:

GWG tonight gives Letang the edge

  191. Sam says:

Give them credit. Wonderful game all around.

  192. Sarah says:

    Wow, great stat Milo…..

  193. Jandy says:

I’m off to bed….4am comes quickly! Tomorrow night will be very very interesting!

  194. Florida Steeler says:

Pens worked hard tonight and played great defense.

  195. Jandy says:

    +++++

  196. Wild Bill says:

    He really was, Milo.

  197. Breakthestreak says:

Letang and Fleury.. Great games. Really happy to see

  198. cobra39 says:

    Zatkoff start tomorrow? (Not serious.)

  199. radio wave says:

Impressive win for you folks. Why back to back games?

  200. cobra39 says:

I’m sure money / TV has something to do with it.

  201. The Pens saved the day! It didn’t start out so well with those stupid penalties and the knocking each other about Flyers style, but they still won 3-0 and made the shutout stick, and so, hopefully, they’ll be ready for game 3 in Madison Square Garden tomorrow night. And as for Lundqvist, well, he was exceptional enough but the Pens were still able to make it count as the game wore on.

  202. Andrew says:

Every defensemen looks good with Martin, that pairing has been dominate.

  203. Bizrow says:

When this team awakens, there is going to be hello to pay

I think they just woke up

  204. JD says:

Tonight? You are on edge every night. If you’re married, I pity the poor the poor guy to have to watch a game with you.

  205. BillyBaduka says:

It sure looked like it Biz.

I think that was the most complete game the Pens have put together all season.

Good read/react support defensively and offensively. Tape to tape passes as a result.

They were playing as 5 man units instead of individually.

Cleared the puck from in front of Fluery as well as I’ve seen this year.

Effort was there, won a lot of 50/50 pucks. All around solid effort.

Sid didn’t score but looked like his best game of the playoffs. Had jump in his legs, changed speed and was able to beat D 1-1 a few times.

Because of past performances, tough to trust they will stay this way. If they do, who knows how far they can go…

  206. Jandy says:

Because Bettman is an Azz LOL

  207. Jandy says:

Dom, that ref took a clearing puck to the face, went down, got back to his feet, was checked by a team medic, then went right back out on the ice for the next shift. A real trooper.
