Comments

  1. JohninOshkosh says:

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel projects the Steelers as drafting Dennard. So, add that to your mock draft recycling bin.

Interesting to find out when and where Aaron Donald goes.

Hey, Dejan, can you get me an autograph from a Rockette ?

  2. bpn8pitt says:

I’d be fine if Steelers tried to get Robinson or Street later on.

  3. Dom says:

Here’s the first round of my mock draft:
1 Houston Jadeveon Clowney DE South Carolina
2 St. Louis F/WAS Greg Robinson OT Auburn
3 Jacksonville Blake Bortles QB Central Florida

10 Detroit Justin Gilbert DC Oklahoma State
11 Tennessee CJ Mosley OB Alabama
12 New York Taylor Lewan OT Michigan
13 St. Louis Ha Ha Clinton-Dix FS Alabama

29 New England Jace Amaro TE Texas Tech
30 San Francisco Bradley Roby DC Ohio State
31 Denver Kony Ealy DE Missouri
32 Seattle Xavier Su’a-Filo OG UCLA

  5. bpn8pitt says:

    No Johnny Football? :)

Pryor and Beckham will go earlier I think.

I’m not a Manziel fan either but he’s getting picked in that first rd.

    Carr too.

  6. Bizrow says:

I think there is going to be a bunch of wheeling and dealing tonight

  7. bpn8pitt says:

Yes. Lot of 2015 picks to move around.

  8. JohninOshkosh says:

Let’s hope so. That makes it fun.

Pack are interested in Donald, but I think he’ll go higher.

  9. bpn8pitt says:

I have heard everything from Dennard, Donald, Watkins and Evans for Detroit.

I think some of what they do affects Steelers.

  10. theplanisworking says:

Let us hope for 2 things from the Stillerz tonight……

    1) They honor Bill Nunn in some way,
    2) Do NOT reach for any pick in any round. Limas Sweed anyone?

Also, look for comedy from Cleveland and Oakland. They never disappoint in any given year.

Any of the ‘top’ QB’s available this year are NOT franchise QB’s. Any team picking these QB’s is reaching IMHO.

Also, look for defensive picks to rule the day. The NFL is a copycat league, and since Seattle crushed their way to a SB, look for teams to copy that. Again, just a hunch.

  11. theplanisworking says:

Dom, I look for the Jags to maybe pick Manziel. They need to sell tickets too, and he would fill the bill. I think any of the QB’s available is a huge reach, but they need someone that will put fannies in seats.

    Let the goofiness begin. :)

  12. bpn8pitt says:

Big fan of Savage, Aaron Murray and McCarron myself.

Derek Carr is a nice player too.

  13. JohninOshkosh says:

So, who to watch-ESPN or NFLN ?

  14. Arriba Wilver says:

Interesting theory about Seattle. You could be right.

  15. JohninOshkosh says:

NFLN has Deion Sanders, a huge negative. Countered by Melissa Stark.

  16. JohninOshkosh says:

Then again, hard to use remote to turn to a channel that Chris Berman is on.

  17. pattonbb says:

NFL, Charley Casserly tips the scale.

  18. theplanisworking says:

I freely admit, I have not a single clue.
Like those who do mock drafts. All it takes is for one team to make a reach, and the dominoes fall.

  19. JohninOshkosh says:

    ++++

  20. JohninOshkosh says:

Still looking for Dejan on red carpet. Thought I would see him vamping behind Eric Ebron.

  21. pattonbb says:

Falcons are dying to get Clowney. Wonder what they’re offering Houston for the pick.

  22. Milo Hamilton says:

Remember, the Steelers are unable to trade up in the 1st round tonight because they absolutely positively had to have Shamarko Thomas.

  23. bpn8pitt says:

After seeing everything the Rams got for RG3, the Falcons can have Clowney if they are willing to pay that price. Look it up. Its ridiculous.

  24. Dom says:

I searched on a draft database and couldn’t find anyone with the last name of “Football.”

  25. Dom says:

I cant imagine they were ever interested in moving up from the get-go.

  26. Arriba Wilver says:

Me neither. Maybe that’s why I like it. ;-)

  27. bpn8pitt says:

Idk, about 1st rd, but that 3rd along with those comp picks could have let them move back into the 2nd.

Dejan mentioned that in the column too. Thomas could have played more towards the end of the year instead of Clark.

  28. Arriba Wilver says:

Any ballpark what time the Steelers will pick.

  29. bpn8pitt says:

    1030

  30. Milo Hamilton says:

    9:30 ish ?

  31. JohninOshkosh says:

Each team has 10 minutes to pick. Throw in Commish speech and performance from some American Idol performer and do the math.

  32. bpn8pitt says:

I think listening to trades, they take everyone of those ten min, AW. Could be awhile.

  33. bpn8pitt says:

You should have. He owns the trademark rights.

  34. BillyBaduka says:

I really enjoy your posts Milo, but c’mon.

They were supposed to anticipate 98 underclassmen declaring this year?

  35. JohninOshkosh says:

What a great venue, though. One of the most remarkable buildings and theaters in the entire world.

NFL does a lot of things right.

  36. Arriba Wilver says:

Apple had to take down all Podcasts with the name Football in it.

  37. theplanisworking says:

I will go with about 10:00. That would put the first round at around 4 hours total. Still gives the windbags plenty of time to windbag. :)

  38. Arriba Wilver says:

If I wanted to do the math I wouldn’t have asked. ;-)

  39. Brandie says:

Windbags gonna windbag…it’s a law of politics and ESPN “sports” commentary.

  40. bpn8pitt says:

Manziel may be the smallest guy up there.

The best ability is sometimes availability. Good luck Johnny. You re gonna need it.

  41. JohninOshkosh says:

:) Totally, my fellow slacker. I often rely on JAL and Milo to do the heavy lifting.

  42. JohninOshkosh says:

He was shorter than Melissa Stark.

  43. Carlos Danger says:

Do you think they would be better served by moving the location of the draft every year to a different host city?

  44. Carlos Danger says:

    God bless melissa stark.

  45. theplanisworking says:

    Osh,

didn’t the NFL move the draft away from MSG due to some dispute with the Dolans over a New York Stadium issue?

  46. JohninOshkosh says:

    Yeah, that’s a good idea.

Maybe, go to NFL cities. Make those big city fancypants media types slum it in Green Bay one year.

  47. Carlos Danger says:

    That’ll learn em.

  48. JohninOshkosh says:

    Don’t know, Plan.

I am just sort of enamored with Radio City, for some reason.

    Love Art Decco architecture.

  49. theplanisworking says:

With the first pick of the 2014 NFL (Not Furry Legs) Draft, the DK Lunatics take …………… (drum roll, and Avenged Sevenfold playing as walkup music) Mamacita Brandecita! From Pennsylvania State University. The Cleveland Browns are now on the toilet……… err clock.

    ;)

  50. theplanisworking says:

New York does have some GREAT architecture.
Radio City, Chrysler Building, Guggenheim, Carnegie Hall……………

  51. Dom says:

I want Justin Gilbert to fall to us.

He’s my ideal pick of all the feasible candidates.

  52. BillyBaduka says:

    The Sub-Genius must have Slack.

  53. Dom says:

    I’m 1 for 1 so far!.

  54. bpn8pitt says:

I want a corner too Dom. Don’t know if Gilbert and Dennard will be there. Didn’t really hear about Fuller until the last week.

  55. BillyBaduka says:

This is not a knock, it’s a compliment.

  56. Milo Hamilton says:

    The Texans take Clowney.

  57. Dom says:

    and America too.

  58. BillyBaduka says:

    +

  59. Eric Bowser says:

Nothing like being on the clock since the season ended and you have to wind the clock down.

  60. scapper says:

I special ordered a TV that automatically changes the channel itself when Berman is on screen. Worth every cent.

  61. Barb says:

After all the hype isn’t this pick anti-climatic.

  62. Milo Hamilton says:

    #2 Rams – T Greg Robinson

  63. Dom says:

Everyone on this blog knew that since 530 when I posed my mock draft. ;)

  64. Eric Bowser says:

slam dunk, no doubt pick… Texans got it right for what they need.

J.J. Watt and Jadeveon Clowney…. good luck in the AFC

  65. Dom says:

    Im 2 for 2!

  66. bpn8pitt says:

    Lol. Pirates Football Prospects.

  67. pattonbb says:

    Orlando Pace ver. 2.0

  68. Dom says:

Now Jacksonville was hard to predict as they can go in so many different directions.

  69. pattonbb says:

Perfect place for Clowney. He’s going to be a monster.

  70. bpn8pitt says:

Really interested what QB the Texans get.

  71. JohninOshkosh says:

Cleveland selects from the University of Michigan, place kicker Ali Haji-Sheikh.

  72. Milo Hamilton says:

#3 Jags – QB Blake Bortles UCF

  73. Milo Hamilton says:

One of my all time favorites.

  74. Eric Bowser says:

how are you getting the picks so quickly?

  75. theplanisworking says:

Maybe one of the Grammatica brothers?

  76. Dom says:

In case you’re keeping score, Dom’s 3 for 3 but Mel Kiper Jr is 2 for 3.

  77. pattonbb says:

    Here come the trades….

  78. Milo Hamilton says:

#4 Bills – Sammy Watkins Clemson

  79. theplanisworking says:

For the Browns to drop 5 places, they must be supremely confident that their guy will be there.

  80. bpn8pitt says:

    Gotta be Mack?

  81. theplanisworking says:

    BOOM! goes Dom’s mock.

Milo, do you think the Bills reached for Watkins?
Or does it depend on how much they gave up?

  82. Milo Hamilton says:

It was a nice run, wasn’t it Dom ? :)

  83. Dom says:

I knew I should have done all that bragging…

  84. BillyBaduka says:

I think Mack goes before 9.

  85. Milo Hamilton says:

    #5 Raiders – Khalil Mack – U at Buffalo

  86. Milo Hamilton says:

    Plan,

I don’t think Watkins was necessarily a reach, but they gave up a ton to get up there.

  87. bpn8pitt says:

    Good deal for Browns.

  88. theplanisworking says:

    I thought so also.

This might make them the Los Angeles Bills sooner. ;)

  89. pattonbb says:

Browns could still grab Johnny Football. My fingers are crossed.

  90. Milo Hamilton says:

OK I’ve had my fun. Here’s the site.

    http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/drafttracker

  91. Milo Hamilton says:

Yep, we need some QB’s to be taken. Pushes better players down to #15. The Vikings could take one at #8 also.

  92. BillyBaduka says:

    +

  93. 21sthebest says:

Thank goodness. Jerry Maguire is on.

  94. theplanisworking says:

    Browns take Gilbert.
They already have a good secondary, this pick seems a bit off…………. unless they are copying the Seattle model.

  95. Eric Bowser says:

Really…. you traded up to draft Justin Gilbert after trading back…. what a bad franchise.

  96. theplanisworking says:

I told DK the Browns are good for a laugh every single year!
    They just don’t disappoint.

  97. theplanisworking says:

And, Dom hitting on more picks, after some hiccups he couldn’t foresee.

  98. Eric Bowser says:

    Damn, Damn-Damn… Ebron gone.

  99. JohninOshkosh says:

I was flipping between draft and Vacation on IFC.

Beverly D’Angelo with one of the all time great gratuitous nude scenes.

    Oh, and very funny.

  100. bpn8pitt says:

What if Lewan or Martin is there at 15?

  101. 21sthebest says:

    :-)

  102. pattonbb says:

I agree. That scene would forever change how I looked at her. And I looked at her a lot.

  103. Dom says:

Im thinking the GMen will go with Aaron Donald.

  104. Stlrfanrc (Ryan) says:

Love the Enbron pick by Detroit.

Question: can Donald play NT in a 3-4? Do Steelers take him if available?

  105. Dom says:

    Nope. HE’s way too light.

  106. bpn8pitt says:

I hate that scenario Ryan. He’s gonna be a good player.

  107. tcb says:

    I like Odell Beckham.

  108. JohninOshkosh says:

    :)

  109. Stlrfanrc (Ryan) says:

    Agree.

  110. Stlrfanrc (Ryan) says:

It’s lining up for the Steelers to get Darqueze Dennard.

Which is their best option, I think.

  111. Milo Hamilton says:

    Unfortunately we’ll never know.

  112. theplanisworking says:

A lot of people had Donald going to the Bears.
Rams got a good one here.

  113. Milo Hamilton says:

    Aaron Donald to the Rams.

  114. Bizrow says:

The Steelers trade down, betcha its with Cleveland ;-)

  115. Stlrfanrc (Ryan) says:

I think the Bears might get Dennard now. Didn’t see Donald going there, but did see him to the Bears

  116. Bizrow says:

If Johnny football is there, someone will trade for the 15th pick

  117. Bizrow says:

    Good call, Milo

  118. Stlrfanrc (Ryan) says:

I think it’s a great pick for the Rams, plan. Put him inside with Little Howie on the outside?

The NFC West just keeps getting better and better. Best division in football

  119. theplanisworking says:

    Fuller to the Bears.
Didn’t DK say Mayock had him to the Stillerz?

    Let’s see what happens now.

  120. Dom says:

    Fuller to the Bears???

    Whatever.

I’m just glad Dennard is now NO DOUBT will be the pick. I GUARANTEE it!

  121. Eric Bowser says:

    Dennard on the board…..

    Mosley on the board….

    Benjamin on the board….

  122. Milo Hamilton says:

    Steelers take Ryan Shazier OSU

  123. Eric Bowser says:

    Shazier….. hahahahahaha

  124. Stlrfanrc (Ryan) says:

    I agree, but well see

  125. theplanisworking says:

    THEY REACHED!
    THEY REACHED!

As Charlie Brown would say ……..
    AAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGHHHHHH !!!!!!!!

  126. Dom says:

    Now that is embarrassing…

  127. Thundercrack says:

    Fire someone

  128. Stlrfanrc (Ryan) says:

Milo rules, must be in the war room

  129. DJ says:

Steelers pick Aaron Jones . . . I mean Ryan Shazier.

  130. Milo Hamilton says:

Come on Jerry, ya gotta do it.

  131. JohninOshkosh says:

    WTF ????

  132. theplanisworking says:

Yep, team needs help at CB and WR, so let’s draft a total reach at OLB.
Eagerly awaiting the drafting of a punter in the 2nd round tomorrow, followed by a waterboy in the 3rd.

    Good grief !!!!!!!!

And on that clunker, good night.

  133. Stlrfanrc (Ryan) says:

So yesterday, I mentioned that Scott Brown predicted OLB Barr from UCLA.

He said whoever predicted that, wasn’t paying attention. (I summarized that respomse)

    So now what?

  134. tcb says:

Shazier is a very good player. He played Inside at OSU.

  135. JohninOshkosh says:

    That was for pick!

  136. cosmo says:

Did the Steelers, just turn into the Raiders with this pick.

  137. bpn8pitt says:

I don’t know where to begin.

All of a sudden wondering what’s up with Worilds long term. Maybe they aren’t high on Jones anymore.

  138. Stlrfanrc (Ryan) says:

Did you see how he said “they have a good QB?”

    Set up.

    Manziel to Dallas

  139. Wild Bill says:

Guess we’ll have to learn to like Ike for another year, folks.

  140. JohninOshkosh says:

    ++++

  141. Stlrfanrc (Ryan) says:

Agree. I do think Jones will be a beast.

  142. tcb says:

Draft is deep at WR. It was not deep at Inside LB.

  143. pattonbb says:

That all but guaranteed they’d go OLB with the pick.

  144. JohninOshkosh says:

    G-damn Bylsma.

  145. J Walter Weatherman says:

I’m literally scratching my head with that Steelers pick. Never even heard of him.

  146. SeanAY says:

Wow. I’m actually shocked by this pick.

Might be a good pick. I’m open to the thought.

  147. Milo Hamilton says:

I hope Mr. Football booked the extra night.

  148. DJ says:

I guess ILB more of a need.

    Maybe he’s the next Farrior.

  149. Milo Hamilton says:

I love Ryan Shazier. I just don’t know if I love him that high.

  150. J Walter Weatherman says:

Is the new “Steelers Way” making dumb 1st round draft picks?

  151. BillyBaduka says:

    Now that’s funny.

  152. Thundercrack says:

I think they call it twitter

  153. Eric Bowser says:

Well, I said Steelers needed an ILB, just figured it would have been Mosley.

  154. bpn8pitt says:

Yea, 15 seems high to me too.

Taking two OLB with #1s, when you found Harrison on the street? Porter in the 3rd?

Seems a little small to play middle too.

  155. Bizrow says:

Thats better, I think ESPN said he was an OLB

  156. Steelag70 says:

AFC North all defense so far….

  157. Wild Bill says:

    Nope, the Crows wanted him.

  158. Steelag70 says:

    Weight can always be added….

  159. pattonbb says:

    Jones, Shazier, Timmons and Worilds?

  160. Milo Hamilton says:

I look at Shazier as Chad Brown. He’ll play inside to get him on the field this year, but eventually move to the outside. Maybe after only 1 season.

  161. Steelag70 says:

Must be something up with Dennard….

  162. Milo Hamilton says:

Manziel to Arizona at #20 could spare the Steelers the indignity of Hard Knocks.

  163. DJ says:

I predict a boo for the Jets pick.

  164. Wild Bill says:

No score Habs and Broons, 5:00 to go in the third.

  165. Stlrfanrc (Ryan) says:

Of he turns into the next Chad Brown, I’d be happy.

  166. Bizrow says:

    +++++

  167. Stlrfanrc (Ryan) says:

Of he plays inside, ESPN had him listed as OLB, then it makes semi-sense.

I’m ok with skipping a WR with this pick, easily get a good one in the 2nd.

But how do you pass up Dennard?

  168. Carlos Danger says:

Does that pick mean the Steelers are giving up on Spence ever coming back?

  169. tcb says:

Good comparison. Steelers must really like him. They didn’t waste any time sending in their selection.

  170. DJ says:

    Hey, they booed Revis.

  171. Bizrow says:

Thanks, WB, and I hope you get thru Sunday. My Mom is 89, lives by herself in a big home where 6 of us grew up, and I do not speak to her enough. But I did tonight, thank you for reminding me

  172. Bizrow says:

I don’t think so, it took them about two minutes to get their pick up there

  173. Wild Bill says:

Shazier has excellent speed. Maybe playing inside to neutralize tight ends and can pursue inside-out.

  174. DJ says:

Shazier looks a little like Lloyd.

    Let’s hope he’s as personable.

  175. Wild Bill says:

Thanks Biz. My Mom passed at 100, hope you have your Mom for that long too.

  176. Steelag70 says:

Quite a few teams have passed on him….something must be up with him.

  177. Wild Bill says:

    On the field only, hopefully.

  178. DJ says:

Wikipedia already has Shazier playing for the Steelers. Amazing.

Guess my $5 donation was put to good use.

  179. JohninOshkosh says:

    +

  180. Wild Bill says:

Habs and Broons, scoreless into OT!

  181. scapper says:

Mon dieu! Quel match! Allez Canadiens!

  182. bpn8pitt says:

I remember hearing about Jarvis Jones speed last year.

Doesn’t it take a few years to learn the D? Jones and Timmons are proof of that.

  183. DJ says:

Here’s the nfl.com skinny on Shazier:

Strengths: Highly productive, disruptive playmaker vs. the run and pass. Shoots gaps and plays behind the line of scrimmage (compiled 39.5 TFL the last two seasons). Agile to slip blocks. Quick, strong hands to shed. Knifes gaps and flows very well laterally. Striking tackler — uncoils on contact. Excellent speed and range — opens up his stride in space and really covers ground. Bends naturally. Changes direction and accelerates with ease. Explosive first step as a pass rusher — shows the ability to dip, bend and run the arc low to the ground. Ample athleticism and flexibility to mark backs and tight ends. Led all players at the combine with a 42-inch vertical jump and blazed a sub-4.4 40 time at his pro day. Four-down utility. Arrow is pointing up.

  184. Dom says:

    Terrible pick!

Who is going to play opposite Allen 2015?

I know the Steelers could care less about the corner position but this is absurd.

  185. Bizrow says:

    +++++
    Thanks

  186. RFG says:

DK, you listed strengths what were listed as weaknesses?

  187. Steelag70 says:

    Deep draft for DB’s Dom….no panic yet…

  188. Bizrow says:

    7 rounnds

Not putting my hair on fire yet

Of course, I have little hair

But if I was a QB???

  189. Dom says:

    Nope. It’s panic time.

  190. DJ says:

    Shazier’s last 2 years:

    2012: 115 tackles, 17 for loss, 5 sacks, 11 pass breakups, 1 interception touchdown, 3 forced fumbles
    2013: 134 tackles, 22 for loss, 5-6 sacks, 4 pass breakups, 4 forced fumbles

Pretty good production. The pick is growing on me.

  191. Wild Bill says:

Bad night for the quarterbacks so far. Bortles only one yet, and some aren’t sold even on him.

  192. bpn8pitt says:

Was hoping for something more plug and play, Steel.

Come Sept, I just hope Shazier is playing. None of this Heyward/Hood/Jones red shirt BS.

  193. bpn8pitt says:

I’m a little stunned Bill. Think someone trades back in to get one, but still…

  194. DJ says:

    I bet Clinton-Dix prefers LOL.

    Otherwise it could get confusing.

  195. Lad 9 says:

I was stunned initially thinking he was going to play OLB, but with him going to be on the inside I am starting to like it. Still time to pick a CB, and the fact that Dennard still hasn’t been picked also helps.

  196. bpn8pitt says:

That’s a heist for Osh. Think Ha Ha is a great cover safety.

  197. Milo Hamilton says:

I can’t help but think of Monica Lewinsky.

  198. Steelag70 says:

bpn…you know the Steelers don’t “plug and play” draft picks…especially on defense. Colbert even said not to expect that from this year’s draft the other day…

  199. Dom says:

The Steelers are trying to become the Pittsburgh Pirates of old and based on the baseball season thus far, the Pirates are content at being the Pirates of old.

  200. Wild Bill says:

The Broons win early in OT.

  201. DJ says:

Someone should ask him to sign her new book.

  202. Milo Hamilton says:

Browns take Mr. Football. The Eagles screw over Andy Reid one last time.

  203. Wild Bill says:

Manziel to the Browns, where Shazier will chase him all over the field.

  204. Lad 9 says:

Johnny Football to the mistake on the lake! Awesome!

  205. Steelag70 says:

Exactly Milo….Andy may have been looking at him….

  206. Stlrfanrc (Ryan) says:

Say what you want, but the Browns just kicked our butts thus far in the draft.

Granted it’s only round 1, but it might be a view of what’s yet to come.

The good thing is, it’s still the browns.

  207. bpn8pitt says:

    Nate83 ;)

  208. Lad 9 says:

LMAO. Milo, that might be the line of the year. An instant classic! :)

  209. Milo Hamilton says:

The last time the Browns traded up to pick #22 to take a QB they took Brady Quinn. Oops.

  210. Dom says:

    Shouldn’t a QB be taller than 6ft.?

  211. Steelag70 says:

Dom…ask Russell Wilson or Drew Brees about that…or Fran Tarkenton just to go old school…

  212. Milo Hamilton says:

I’ll ask Russell Wilson & get back to you.

  213. Wild Bill says:

Nobody creates as much yak as J Football. But is he worth it?

  214. JohninOshkosh says:

Post of the year. Fell off my couch!

  215. bpn8pitt says:

    What about Mike Vick?

Cause he stayed healthy every year right?

  216. Dom says:

I’m going to need their numbers.

  217. Steelag70 says:

I like this Shazier pick more and more…

  218. bpn8pitt says:

    Bo Callahan.

    :)

  219. Steelag70 says:

He makes others around him better…so I would say yes….

  220. Milo Hamilton says:

The Bengals take Darqueze Dennard. That cinches it, he must have been red flagged.

  221. Steelag70 says:

I can name a few “traditional” QB’s that have not stayed healthy every year….

  222. Lad 9 says:

The Browns owner told Sal Pal that a homeless person convinced him to draft Manziel. Ladies and gentlemen, your Cleveland Browns!

  223. Wild Bill says:

Back to hockey. If the Pens win tomorrow, good resting ahead. The Habs and Broons have to go till Monday, and could go till Wednesday.

  224. Dom says:

The Bengals get the steal, the Steelers should have got in Dennard.

  225. bpn8pitt says:

Well Dom, we get to see Gilbert and Dennard 4 times a year.

  226. BillyBaduka says:

    Great stuff Milo.

  227. Steelag70 says:

Browns trying to get back in the 1st rd…

  228. Steelag70 says:

From what I understand the Steelers were never that high on Dennard…

  229. Stlrfanrc (Ryan) says:

And another rival continues to improve.

  230. DJ says:

I think we picked the guy they were targeting so they picked the guy we were targeting.

  231. Dom says:

    Oh, what could have been…

  232. Bizrow says:

    A frigging weekend to go

    Beat Em Bucs

    Lets go Pens

    Here we go Steelers

Ursy needs water, Abby is barking at shadows

    Retirement is a tough job

  233. Wild Bill says:

Jeez, the Bruin who scored the winner looks like he’s seventeen years old.

  234. bpn8pitt says:

    I’m gonna call it night.

I have mixed feelings about Shazier. For the Steelers sake, I hope he figures things out on the defense faster than Jones, Worilds, and Timmons did.

Maybe get that cb/wr in round 2.

  235. Dom says:

This is the year of the reach selections.

  236. Daquido_Bazzini says:

Plan – Shazier is headed inside….No way OLB.
He’ll be paired up with Timmons.

  237. DJ says:

Doug Murray with giveaway behind net leading to OT winner.

Hope they slug it out for 7 games with Habs prevailing.

  238. Daquido_Bazzini says:

Surprised but not stunned by the Shazier pick.
The Steeler defense needs youth, speed and attitude.
I believe they are getting that with Shazier.
No question they have work to do at CB, WR and DL.
However….I don’t think Shazier is a bad pick at all.

  239. Dom says:

New England is up. I hope they choose to defer.

  240. Naterosboro says:

Have to see how it plays out, but passing on Dennard is going to hurt, especially with him going to Cincy.

With the way rules in the NFL are going, it’s imperative you have good corner play. Not sure what’s happened to Mike Tomlin, but seems like he’s forgotten his DB roots from Tampa.

Shazier had better lock down the spot next to Timmons, otherwise Tomlin & Colbert will be on the outs.

  241. Stlrfanrc (Ryan) says:

Early grades have the Steelers at a C+, the worst in the draft.

I don’t know anything about this guy they picked, but there seems to be a lot of “ifs” involved with it.

At #15, there shouldn’t be any ifs. Not with the talent that was there.

They can certainly get better at WR in the later rounds, but I’m not sure about CB.

Wonder who’s available next year at that position.

I’m sure they look way past the current year.

  242. Dom says:

    Who gave them a C+

  243. Dom says:

The niners will nab Jimmie ward

  244. Stlrfanrc (Ryan) says:

    Bleacher report

Scott Brown likes the pick with the steelers moving him inside, IF he’s the difference maker the Steelers think he is.

Also said that they really liked Ebron.

    There’s a shock

  245. Stlrfanrc (Ryan) says:

Interesting pick by NE, as usual.

As a Gators fan, Easley was an easy 1st round pick, until he got hurt.

BB knows what he’s doing and consistently makes these types of picks.

  246. Ghost says:

“The Steeler defense needs youth, speed and attitude.”
    Yep. I’m liking this pick.

  247. Dom says:

Shazier has never played on the side that he will be on opposite Timmons.

  248. Ghost says:

The Steelers needed to land a “gamechanger” with their relatively high (for them) first round draft position. Dennard to me was an uninspired choice since he does not have elite speed and is not forecast to be a shutdown corner. Nobody is a sure thing, but Shazier has that gamechanger potential we hope to realize. Good pick.

(Also, don’t forget that the Bears snapped up Kyle Fuller right before us, in case he was our real top-of-the-board player. I still like the Shazier pick more.)
